Celebrating another #1 on the dance charts for Andrew & Joe, Loud Luxury joined us again on America's Dance 30 to talk all things "Crash"! They shared w us how long ago they actually produced it, and who the vocalist is. Plus who helped write it!

We also talked to Andrew & Joe about their recent show inside a cave in Punta Cana, what the sound was like there, and where they would wanna play if they could logistically play any venue anywhere in the world.  They also shared if they heard from Celine Dion after dropping a bootleg of one of her songs during a recent set!

So you guys were in the arena.

What was the atmosphere like, because obviously the championship was
played in the US. Canada wins, and there's so much
political bulls going on on.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
What was the atmosphere like?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
It was pretty crazy, honestly, like being around a bunch
of American fans that were kind of like boonas and stuff,
but like everybody was respectful. I think it was more
so just like a Boston things because the Boston fans
are very intense and there's obviously like the rivalry with
the Celtics Bruins. I'm the heats getting to me right now?
Go Canada baby? What what was very awkward?

Speaker 5 (01:23):
The most difficult part about it all is that we
actually were booked to DJ the official after party for
it that Sports Illustrated was throwing right, So no matter
who won, whether it was Canada or the US, we
had to play it. So obviously we're playing happy as
a clan and the crowd is like half not into
it because their team, their country just got embarrassed by Canada.

(01:44):
So there was definitely a part of us that after
we left the Viny, we're like, might have been better
for business at.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
The US one. Well, I'm glad you guys made it out.

Speaker 2 (01:53):

Congratulations on Crash going number one. That is so amazing
for you guys.

Hell yeah, thank you so much. It's been awesome to
put out.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
It feels really special and honestly, it's it's definitely I
think what people like most about loud Luxury encapsulated in
the song.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, it is such a feel good song.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I am super stoked to talk about it, especially since
I saw who helped write it and who's singing on it.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
But but before.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
We talk all about crash, you know, you guys just
recently did a show in a cave in Punta Kana.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
What was the sound like in a cave?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Terrible? It's pretty interesting, Honestly, it was pretty crazy. We've
played a couple of caves, but that one is it's
something else. It's it's actually really big, like very deceivingly big,
like it's got layers to it, and it was it
was like a white party, so everybody was dressing white,
spelling drinks on themselves, and it got pretty messy.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Honestly, I've never listened back to like videos because obviously
we love to post a lot of videos that we
have from any show. I've never had videos come back
where the audio quality has been so bad that we
really had to just basically layer it with the actual
track and eyemovie, because if you listen the actually just
raw audio, it just sounds like like you're in a cathedral.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
It's so it's so echoey. I don't it was.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
It's a trip to listen to you because it feels
like you're hearing everything two seconds later than everyone else
is hearing it.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
So do you guys have to completely play out of
monitors and not listen to what's going on inside the cave?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Oh yeah, I'm one of the rare ones. I go
to Steve Angelo approach. But I don't actually use headphones
when we're DJing because like, most of the time, I
know all the songs anyways, and I get like these
little moments when we're playing where like I just know
songs kind of like go together from our our USBs.
So I don't actually use headphones. But we had literally
like sixty people on stage, so they were all blocking

(04:00):
the monitors.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
So yeah, I don't know how much I love that,
no drink spilled, no train wrecks. We walked out of
there feeling like we just like emerged from a car crash,
being like, I can't believe I'm alive right now.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
I gotta tell you, just watching the video with all
the people so close to you, my anxiety was out
of control.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
I know.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I know, we're trying it out. We maybe want to
do a couple of shows that are like that, just
you know, for the culture, but we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Now, you guys have pretty much done shows everywhere. Is
playing in a cave the weirdest place you've played?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
No, we did one. We did a cave in where
was it?

Speaker 5 (04:42):
Right about an hour outside of Nashville. Have you ever
heard of this concert being called the Caverns?

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Yes, that one was great.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Had Maup there recently, Sarah Landry. It's a phenomenal venue,
But that one's that one's awesome.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Legitimately legitimately deep inside of a cave, like you could
do a whole cave tour where it takes you to
like like thousands and thousands of years old of like
cave tunnel systems. So that one was actually pretty cool.
The weirdest place that we've ever played.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
Somehow, I don't even know if a cave would be
number one on that list.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
I mean, we've been through the ringer on some weird shows.
I'm trying to think. Oh, we played on a floating
barge once.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
It's just like in the middle of the water.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah, that one was pretty interesting. Yeah, the vibe was
definitely interesting because the crowd was completely on the other
side of the water.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
But I mean, yeah, they had grand stands by the
water and then they had a barge with just us
on it float by everyone and play so weird.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah, I mean it was it was really cool. It
was definite.

Speaker 5 (05:44):
I was definitely impressed by the logist six that they
did to make it happen, because obviously that sounds really confusing,
but that but it worked out.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
I'm trying to think there's anything else that's been really weird.
We played on a street one time in Corsica. That
one was crazy. So they had this club, yes and
course club in France, and like literally the DJ booth
is so like the club, Like you're basically like this,
like if I was to be here and the club
is behind me and you're facing out to the street.

(06:13):
So the street is where everybody dances, and then on
the other side there's like a little dance and bar
area on the other side of the street that goes
onto the water and basically everybody just parties in the street,
but then cars will come by, callers will be driving by,
so people have to like open up, open up the
street and then like continue partyingey.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
As a kid, and if someone goes car and everyone
has everybody separate.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Club weird, pretty cool place.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So I go back, if you could play anywhere at
any type of venue, logistically, where would you want to play?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
I want to play on top of the Sea and
Tower in Toronto. But I regret I regretfully say that
because now somebody's going to probably try and steal that idea.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
We need to be Yeah, we have one that actually
is feasible that we're working on trying to make happen
over the next year because we know friend that has
a helicopter company. But I've been really keen about doing
a glacier out in British Columbia or an ice caves
out there. One of our friends own was a helicopter company,
so he's like, you let.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Me know, I can. We can literally shuttle it.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
We're just trying to figure out how many trips that
is to make it happen. Even if it's just us
and no crowd, it still might be like five trips
some stuff due to wait, but we're going to try
and make that happen the next year for sure.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Boy, visually that would be amazing.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
Yeah, I've seen some gorgeous stuff on like YouTube channels
like Circle for example, but I don't know, so you'll
have to correct me, But I don't know if I've ever.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Seen anyone doing an ice cave or anything up that high.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen that.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
Yeah, I think it's not an observation post with RGI
where they were like on one of the observation posts.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
In the mountains in Switzerland. But we'll do it.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Well, I know, I know Caigo did the that tongue.
I don't even know what it is, but he.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Played it was like the top of a fjord, right, Yeah.

Sure.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Now, speaking of your shows, you know you guys play
a lot of bootlegs at your shows. You recently did
a Celene Dion bootleg at a show in Keebe. Do
you guys ever hear from the original artists afterwards? Like,
does Celene Dion slide into the DMS after.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Yeah, Joe got from Selene actually cage I'll acknowledge my existence,
which was pretty cool her she reposted it.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah, never answered answered my fifty DMS afterwards, but she
reposted it. I was happy about that, not.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
That you were inundating or DMS or anything.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
I was keeping it pretty honestly, But like I guess
maybe she just needed a little bit more. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
I got to be honest, I think that's the first
time I've ever heard an artist say they slid into
Celene Dion's DMS.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Well, people should do it, honestly all day, every day,
the Queen of Canada, even beyond Selene, Like a lot
of people will respond about like putting them out officially
and things like.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
That, and you know, we're definitely honored and excited about
a lot of those conversations. But as you said with
the word bootleg, part of the spirit of it is
literally just to be like fast and easy and fun
and not overthink it. So you know, it's not like
everything we post we're trying to get released. It's literally
just fun stuff that shows you if you come to

(09:31):
a show and comes es player, you're gonna have a
bomb ass time.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Absolutely well, speaking of bomb ass, let's talk about this
bomb ass song, Crash.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
It was crazy.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
It was crazy seeing that Disco Lines helped write it
and Brando's back on Loud Luxury Songs.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
How was Smash born?

Speaker 3 (09:50):
We made it during COVID actually, and yeah, Disco Lines
was in the studio. He came in for a studio
session one of the days and he just the production
with us, and then we worked on it with Brando
and I feel like we we always love coming back
to working with him every every few songs. So he's
he's super talented and we love working with him, and

(10:13):
we write a lot of stuff together, like even beyond
this song, like we we've done so much stuff together.
We still have so much upcoming together as well. So
it was a really good thing that we got in.
We made another one, and we're super happy that it
came out.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I'm sorry, you just blew my mind that you guys
did this during COVID like that long.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Ago we've been. It's really old. It's really old.

Speaker 5 (10:38):
I think, like probably you're playing with disco lines at
Brooklyn Rage because I remember he posted a video of
the song and we're like, hey, like, don't don't post
anything about the song yet.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Because like we for.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Obvious reasons, it made sense because it came out literally
like three years later. But I think that's just a
proof and testament to the fact that your best music
doesn't have a time stamp on it. You know, it
was made ages ago, and it feels like it was
made yesterday. So that's a really important thing that we're
chasing more than anything else, is just great songs like
that that don't have a time limit, don't have an

(11:10):
age to them, and still feel amazing.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Well, you mentioned that Disco Lines tested it out with you.
Guys do a lot of testing of your music too.
I remember talking to you before it was either before
or after your set at EDC Orlando when you tested
music as well. How soon after you start producing a
song do you start testing it out.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
It's got to be pretty far along. But I mean,
like most of the stuff that we're making these days,
like sometimes something will come up the day of and
we'll make a remix of it. Like that's what we've
been doing a lot lately, is just remixing stuff. So
everything that we have is pretty much brand new and
like nobody has heard it before. So I mean in

(11:53):
terms of like songs that we're going to actually release
those ones maybe like a little bit later because those
ones who want to obviously work on a little bit
arn't finish up. But a lot of the stuff that's
in our sets, like sometimes it's like literally all start
it like the day of and then we'll play it
that night. I would play two new ones in Miami
literally made within like twenty four hours of the show.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
Yeah, we're going to be teasing out way more originals
in our sets too. The biggest reason why I think
that there's been so many bootlegs and remixes lately is
just because we were, while we work on tons of
new music to get figured out going forward, just wanting
to do something to keep everyone engaged, you know, absolutely,
Like we never really had the game plan of being like,

(12:34):
all right, we're mostly just going to do remixes. It's
just been a good way to keep everything warm and
exciting while we roll out crash and while we work
on tons of new music as well that we're going
to play.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
And when you finish a song so long ago, what
makes you revisit it, any.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
Really good song like that you still feel a lot
of excitement about, you know. It's not like every time
you play you're like, yeah, it's pumping, jumping off the table.
You like, let's be honest, maybe we're doing it wrong,
but yes, you don't feel like that all the time,
but certain.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Ones just to the top, Like I mean that when
we were always very excited about, and that was always
one that we knew that we wanted to release, so
ones like that they just kind of sit and sort
of like a holding pattern and then yeah, when it's
time they they come to light.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
Yeah, there's sort of just this itch that's like I'm
excited for people to hear that one, And that's how
you should know it should come out no matter.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
How old it's.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Oh no, absolutely, But what I meant was like for me,
I forget things so quickly. You know, you guys produce
so much music, do you have to keep track of
everything and have many I forget.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I forget the names of songs and what we make
every day. I remember what I had for breakfast.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
So I forget tons of music we make. But the
songs that I really like I tend to remember, even
if they're five years old, Like they still just stick
out in your brain for some reason, versus like, you know,
Joe and I can get the studio, we'll just jam
out on something and going yeah whatever, and Lily forget
about the next day.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
The names don't mean anything to me. It's more so
natural songs themselves. Remember Jack, But that's all that matters.
What was the name of that song you made like
two years ago? I'd be like, brother, I don't know
this one.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Yeah, well, who cares about the name as long as
it slaps.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
It slaps.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Absolutely well.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
I'm glad you guys remember this one because it is
such a feel good smash. Congratulations on crash. It is
so awesome And I can't wait to see you guys
in Miami and catch up in real life Andrew again.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, absolutely, I'll be right there.

Perfect sure. You can't wait to run it back with you.

Always great catching up and we're also, while it's worth
talking about, really bummed out that has just been so
hard to get to Tampa with the weather situation. I've
never had two shows in a row get canceled due
to something totally out of our control, because as you
know from our social media, we never cancel shows.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
So I just feel people want to know the those
days that we were traveling to those shows were absolute hell.
So we also felt it as well. It's not a
great feeling spending like twelve hours in an airport, like
trying to get on four different flights and figure out
if we can get that even like bicycles.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Yeah, I was watching people.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Of Tampa deserve everything, and we'll really try to make
