TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

The sun is shining brightly in Alabama as we unpack three newsworthy stories that showcase the bizarre juxtaposition of our current reality.

First, an astonishing military mishap in the Red Sea where a $56 million F-18E Super Hornet fighter jet slipped off the USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier and plunged into the waters below. The incident occurred when the carrier executed a sudden turn, potentially to evade Houthi rebel fire, causing both the jet and the towing vehicle to slide overboard. Thankfully, crew members escaped unharmed, but the expensive warplane now sits at the bottom of the sea—representing a significant and costly loss for the Navy. The story raises fascinating questions about military protocols during high-tension situations and the financial consequences of such accidents.

Moving to the political arena, we examine Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's alarming rhetoric calling for citizens to "mobilize" against President Trump. During an MSNBC interview, Pritzker doubled down on inflammatory language, declaring "Republicans cannot know a moment of peace" and drawing inappropriate comparisons between Trump's administration and Nazi Germany. The governor's call for "mass protest, mobilization, and disruption" without substantive policy criticisms appears deliberately inflammatory and potentially dangerous in our already divided nation. We break down why such extreme language undermines constructive political discourse and serves no productive purpose beyond inflaming tensions.

Ending on a more hopeful note, Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred revealed discussions with President Trump regarding Pete Rose's permanent ban from baseball. Following Rose's death in September, there's renewed interest in potentially removing the career hits leader from MLB's ineligible list, which could posthumously restore his legacy. Interestingly, Manfred also expressed concerns about how immigration policies might impact international players from countries like Cuba and Venezuela, highlighting the complex intersection of sports, politics, and international relations.

What's your take on these stories? Who do you consider the greatest baseball player of all time? Join the conversation and share your thoughts on today's most compelling headlines.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, good morning, happy Tuesday, welcome.
One and all the birds arechirping.
It's going to be a beautifulday here in Alabama in the 80s.
Sun will be out, gorgeous, gorgeous weather today.
All right, I have three storiesI want to go over with you.
Did you know that we lost a $56million aircraft carrier off the

(00:22):
USS Harry S Truman the otherday?
And the aircraft carrier wasout there.
It's it's patrolling the seasto protect the traffic, the
traffic lanes, whatever tradelanes, from the Houthis and they
had.
They were rolling out anaircraft carrier or they were
rolling out an airplane and theship made a last-minute sharp

(00:48):
turn and off went the towvehicle and the airplane.
Luckily, the staff and crewmember jumped off the equipment
in time so they didn't gooverboard.
A US Navy F-18E Super Hornetfighter jet slipped off an
aircraft carry and sank into theRed Sea as the ship was making

(01:11):
a hard turn, possibly to avoidfire from the Houthi forces.
According to reports this isfrom the New York Post the $56
million warplane was lost.
The $56 million warplane waslost.
We lost it, but the pilot madeit out alive.
Thankfully, the jet was beingtowed out of a hangar.
On Monday excuse me on the USSArias Truman, when the carrier

(01:36):
suddenly shifted and the tractorpulling it lost control,
sending both the jet and thevehicle overboard the vehicle
that was towing it out.
Initial reports from the sceneindicated that the Truman made a
sudden turn to evade an attackon Houthi rebels.
An official told CNN.
So there's that.
How does that work?

(01:57):
Do we just leave it there?
I'm not sure.
Do we try to go get it out?
I don't know how does that work.
It doesn't tell us the rest ofthe story.
All we know is that it slippedoff the aircraft carrier as it
was making a sharp turn, possibly to avoid Houthi fire.
Okay, well, isn't thatinteresting?

(02:17):
Maybe All right.
Jb Pritzer, this guy y'all.
I can't.
Even with this guy.
He doubles down on calls forpeople to mobilize against trump
.
Five alarm fire.
What does this mean?
What is he?
Is this not incitement?
What is this?
What is he saying?
Is this not incitement?
What is he saying?

(02:38):
Is he calling for violence?
Is he calling for his people toget out on the streets, to get
up in our faces and start fights?
What is he talking about?
Illinois Democratic Governor JBPritzer urged Americans to
mobilize against President Trumpon Monday, a day after he
delivered a fiery speech in NewHampshire calling for disruption

(02:58):
and mass protests.
Y'all this is not good, but Idon't think anybody's going to
listen to him.
But you know there are somecrazies out there.
Let me be clear we're in aperilous moment in this country,
pritzer said during aninterview with MSNBC host Jen
Psaki when asked about what hewas trying to convey in his

(03:19):
speech at a New HampshireDemocratic Party dinner Sunday
night.
In his speech, whichconservatives quickly blasted as
reckless, the governor declaredthat Republicans cannot know a
moment of peace.
So let me back up here to thisother paragraph where he says
let me be clear we're in aperilous moment in this country.

(03:41):
Moment in this country.
Can he give me what does hemean?
That's just rhetoric.
That's just stupid stupidity.
He doesn't even know what he'stalking about.
If he did, he would give usexamples, and the examples that
he would give us would be you'renot allowing us to mutilate
children.
You're not allowing us to haveopen borders and import all

(04:05):
these criminals over here toinvade the country.
We want the criminals, we wantthe rapists and gang members,
ms-13 and all the horrible, awful people here.
We want them here.
That's what he would say, because that is their message.
I don't know what perilousmoment he is talking about.

(04:26):
We are in good hands right now,so he's just being ridiculous
and it's dangerous.
They have to understand that wewill fight their cruelty.
What cruelty are we talkingabout?
We are protecting Americans, sir, with every megaphone and

(04:48):
microphone that we have.
Prisker said at the mcintyreokay, whatever, 100 club dinner
um, never before in my life haveI called for mass protest, for
mobilization, for disruption.
But I am now for what again?
For what?
Because we closed our bordersand we're protecting, we're
having America first agenda, because we're protecting women

(05:13):
and children.
Is that what you're talkingabout?
Is that the perilous times thatyou're talking about, idiot?
Okay, during this interviewwith Psaki, the governor doubled
down on his comments and evenlikened the Trump
administration's policies tothose of Nazi Germany.

(05:33):
I can't this guy.
I wish every single ginormouspodcast brand name out there
would blast this guy on fullvolume for everybody to see what
an absolute ridiculous personhe is.
You cannot take this guyseriously.

(05:55):
It's just.
This is the political world welive in now.
If you don't like somebody andtheir policies, if you don't
like it, then they're NaziGermany or they're racist, of
course.
But to compare Trump and hisadministration to Nazi Germany
is offensive, and it's not justridiculous, it's just so off

(06:22):
base.
It's like black and white, night and day.
It's totally different.
I don't understand where he getshis information.
He just gets out there and saysstuff that just to get people
riled up, I guess.
But what is the point of that?
I don't understand.

(06:42):
I don't understand this at all.
But we're going to move on tothe next story because I am
running off of time here.
Running out of time, all right, but hopefully we're going to
get some good news here.
Rob Manfred to rule on Pete Rosereinstatement after Trump talk.

(07:03):
All right.
New York Baseball CommissionerRob Manfred said he discussed
Pete Rose with President DonaldTrump at a meeting two weeks ago
and he plans to rule on arequest to end the sports
permanent ban of the career hitsleader who died in September.
Maybe that's what Pritzker istalking about about being such a

(07:25):
horrible administration.
Maybe because he talked to thebaseball commissioner about
getting Pete Rose's permanentban done.
Speaking Monday at a meeting ofthe Associated Press sports
editors, manfred said he andTrump have discussed several
issues, including Manfred'sconcerns over how Trump's

(07:47):
immigration policies couldimpact players from Cuba,
venezuela and other foreigncountries.
Well, you know, I don't thinkthey're rapists and murderers
and gang members, are they?
They're baseball players.
So you know, I swear we havelost all common sense.
Manfred is considering apetition to have Rose removed

(08:10):
from MLB's permanent ineligiblelist, so hopefully that'll be
going on.
You can go finish reading that.
This is a quite a long,extensive article.
If you would like to go finishreading that, it is on my x-file
.
All right, I think that's allI've got for now.
We need to go on to thequestion of the day.
All right, who is the bestbaseball player of all time

(08:36):
since the beginning of baseball?
Who is the best baseball?
If you don't follow baseball, then give me a football player.
If you don't follow football, then give me a musician.
The best, best of ever time, ofall time.
That's the question of the day.
All right, I have to go.
Thank you for listening andlove y'all.
Have a good one.
