TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

Have you ever forgotten everything about a show you loved? Remembered exactly who a controversial judge was the moment their name appeared in the news again? Or felt your heart drop when trusted expectations were shattered?

The weekend roundup kicks off with reflections on a Labor Day getaway to Tunica before diving into an unexpected Broadchurch binge-watch that revealed how completely we can forget even the most engaging stories. This segues into a deeper, more troubling revelation about Judge James Boasberg, who recently released a woman arrested for making explicit threats against former President Trump - overruling another judge's decision to deny bond. The contradiction between how such threats are handled raises serious questions about consistency in our justice system.

Sports fans will appreciate the breakdown of Bill Belichick's disastrous UNC coaching debut, ending in a humiliating 48-14 loss that has many wondering if the 73-year-old NFL legend should consider retirement rather than rebuilding a struggling college program. But perhaps most heart-wrenching is the story of a mother who returned to pick up her daughter from a birthday party, only to discover the host had departed 90 minutes early, leaving her child alone at a roller rink without food or celebration. It's a stark reminder of how quickly trust between parents can be broken.

The episode wraps with a touching personal moment - a rare FaceTime call from an adult daughter and plans to create new family traditions at a local water park. What was the highlight of your weekend? Share your stories and join the conversation about trust, justice, and finding joy in small family connections.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wow, what a long, fun-filled weekend we had.
Now you can catch up oneverything we did on the Brood
Awakening podcast that the Gentand I do and it's called Brood
Awakening.
We kind of run it down onSunday.
Everything we did.
It was a three-day weekend,Labor Day weekend.
So we took off and went toTunica man, it was just packed

(00:25):
and it was great.
Yesterday we got home early.
We left Tunica about 7 o'clockin the morning, got home before
noon so we still had out and Iremember thinking it was good,

(00:47):
probably one of the first showslike that on a streaming system,
that I watched, one of thefirst ones, and I remember
thinking this is great, you know, you could watch one back to
back to back.
You know, well, what did I?
I watched the whole firstseason yesterday and again.
Well, here's the thing I don'tremember anything about it.

(01:10):
I mean, I remember it was adetective crime show.
I remember the characters, themain characters anyway, and I
wanted to watch it mainlybecause of Olivia Colman.
I'm on an Olivia Colman kickthese days.
You know she played two seasonsof the Queen, elizabeth in the
Crown, but, and then I watchedanother movie too of hers called

(01:30):
Empire of Light.
It was a little strange, butgood.
Anyway, I watched Broad Streetand it was amazing how I know I
watched this years ago when itfirst came out, and watching it
again, I don't.
I didn't remember anythingabout it.
I couldn't remember who thekiller was till the very last
episode.
I'm like what the hell?

(01:53):
How do you watch a whole seriesand forget everything about it?
It was good, though.
That's the problem.
That's the thing that puzzlesme.
It was good.
Why didn't I remember it?
I don't know what's wrong withme.
All right, I'm sorry I'mrambling.
We need to move on to mystories, not my stories, the New
York Post stories that I putout on X.
All right, do you remember Italked about a few episodes back

(02:14):
about this New York City woman?
She was busted for threateningto kill President Trump, quietly
released by Obama-appointedjudge.
You remember me talking aboutthis Judge, jeanine Pirro said
they were throwing the book ather, blah, blah, blah, and
you'll remember it as soon as Istart talking about it.
A New York City woman locked upfor making deranged social media

(02:36):
posts threatening to killPresident Trump, was quietly
released by an Obama-appointedjudge last week, and you're
going to recognize this name.
Are you ready for it?
Chief US District Judge JamesBoasberg Hello Released Natalie
Rose Jones, a 50-year-old BigApple resident, under electronic

(03:00):
monitoring on August 27th andordered she see a psychiatrist
once back home.
What the F?
Is actually happening?
This needs to be all overnational news.
Please let this be all overnational news today.
This is asinine.
I cannot believe this evenhappened.
Well, yeah, I can't, becauseit's Boasberg.

(03:21):
The surprise release comes justdays after US Magistrate Judge
Moxilla Upadaya denied Jones'bond over the persistent threats
on Trump's life she issued oversocial media.
So one judge said no, you'renot getting out.
Boasberg overruled it and saidyes, let her go.
What in tarnation?

(03:43):
Here's where we are.
Jones wrote in a long facebookpost on august 6th I literally
this is what she said her words, not mine.
I literally told fbi in fivestates today that I am willing
to sacrificially kill this potusby disemboweling him and
cutting out his trachea, withliz cheney and all the

(04:05):
affirmation present.
She allegedly wrote, ending theparagraph let's deal with this
and restore domestic tranquility.
She is a nut job.
Yeah, sure, she needs to see apsychiatrist, but she can do it
while she's behind bars.
Oh God, she does not need to beout walking the streets.
She does not need to go back toa job.

(04:25):
No, sir, mr boesberg.
In other posts, jones urgeddefense secretary pete.
Okay, we know about what she, what, all she did, but can you
believe this?
Friends of jones told judgeboesberg, appointed by obama in
2011, that she has a history ofschizophrenia.
Get help, she can do thatbehind bars.

(04:46):
What she did was a federaloffense, I believe.
Yes, threatening the presidentof the United States.
I don't care who was presidentat the time.
I don't care if Obama waspresident.
This bitch needs to be behindbars.
I don't care.
You don't go around saying thatkind of crap.
Oh, okay, so you can go finishreading that.
I'm just perturbed at thisBoesberg judge.

(05:09):
Can you believe that?
What in the world?
All right, moving on to BillBelichick's big UNC debut did
not go well last night.
Now, I did not watch it.
My husband watched it.
I was watching Broadchurch, buthere it is in the New York Post
.
I read about it.
I knew he was playing lastnight because my husband told me

(05:29):
this was his debut and Ithought, oh boy, whatever, you
know, he's running around withthat 24-year-old gold digger
who's now creating jewelrycalled gold digger.
What is wrong with people, butI guess he had a lot of
celebrities there.
A lot of big name sports peoplewere there, athletes, prior

(05:52):
athletes, and it did not go wellfor Mr Bill Belichick.
He's 70 something years old, 73I think he might.
It might be time to hang it up.
What in the world?
Now let me tell you somethingthis little Jordan Hudson person
girlfriend that he has on hisarm, she is not going to be with
him long.
Maybe She'll probably take hismoney and run once he gets fired

(06:16):
from UNC.
North Carolina's high pointmoment in its first game under
coach Bill Belichick came early.
Ha ha, I'm sure it's more likethey're not talking about his
bedroom antics.
A festive pregame atmosphereled to a roar from the crowd at
kickoff and a season openingdrive moved at a crisp pace to

(06:38):
the end zone After that.
Well, monday night's hyped updebut turned into a romp by TCU,
along with a reminder that evenan NFL icon with six Super Bowl
titles as a head coach can'tjust magically turn the Tar
Heels into winners.
After decades of also ranstatus, I don't know what that

(07:01):
means.
Also ran status what does thatmean?
We played competitively butjust couldn't sustain it, it
Belichick said in a familiar lowtone from his NFL news
conferences after the 48-14 loss48-14 y'all.
Obviously we have a lot of workto do.
Yeah, where have you been?
We need to do a better job allthe way around coaching, playing

(07:22):
all three phases of the game.
And then he talked about how itwas great environment tonight,
belichick said I mean, the fanswere awesome.
There was great energy in thestadium.
We just didn't have enough tokeep it going.
We've got to play better forthe energy to be sustainable.
Yeah, no kidding, your fans arenot going to carry the ball for
you across the goal line.

(07:43):
So what do you think about BillBelichick and UNC?
If you follow that kind of thing, you can go finish reading that
story.
It's long and drawn out if youwant to go read it.
My next to last story, thoughthis is interesting and let's
see if I can get into a questionof the day.

(08:04):
I may or may not be able to.
I don't know.
Get into a question of the day.
I may or may not be able to, Idon't know.
So mom makes a heartbreakingdiscovery after picking up
daughter from party.
I feel like the worst mom ever.
I don't know how to feel aboutthis.
I feel very pissed off at theother parent in this story.
Okay, let's read it Basically.
The little girl was invited tothe party.

(08:26):
She asked if she could drop heroff at the party and go run an
errand and then come back andpick her up.
And they said, yeah, that'sfine.
So the party invitation said itended at five o'clock.
So she was there at 4 30 topick up her daughter a whole
half hour early.
Well, guess what?
The birthday party was gone, the parent who organized the
party gone.

(08:47):
Let's get into it.
Lauren dropped her daughter offat a birthday party thinking
she'd have the time of her life.
Only, when she returned shefound a heartbreaking opposite.
I literally feel like the worstmom ever she shared.
I took my daughter to abirthday party and I asked them
is it okay if I just do adrop-off and run an errand and

(09:07):
I'll be back?
And she said absolutely, youcan definitely leave them here.
The mother checked the end ofthe party.
The party parent said theywould be finished at 5 pm.
So Lauren left her daughter toenjoy the party at the roller
rink and returned at 4 30 topick her up.
Nobody was there.
My daughter was alone.

(09:28):
Oh my god, I would be sofreaking pissed off at this
parent.
The party room, I don't knowthat I would love left.
I don't know how old this childis, I don't know that I would
have left her there.
But not knowing who thesepeople are, maybe, maybe, I
don't know.
I don't know the wholecircumstances but the party room
had been locked, the wholecircumstances.
But the party room had beenlocked, the lights turned off

(09:49):
and the party mother hadvanished.
She asked her daughter whereeverybody was.
She said everybody had left.
I was like what do you mean?
Everybody had left.
She said they're gone and mybaby was there alone.
The mother explained I trustedthis other mom.
The young girl was lucky enoughthat there had been a friend
there who wasn't associated withthe party and it just so

(10:11):
happened that she'd been thereat the right place at the right
time.
No kidding.
Lauren decided to try and findsome answers.
I don't know how old this girlis.
They have pictures of her, soI'd say about eight.
Maybe the party, let's see.
I called this mom eight timesand she did not answer my phone

(10:31):
call.
She didn't answer my textmessage or anything.
So I talked to the manager andI said what time did they leave?
And they said they left an hour.
Before that she recounted, theparty parent had left an hour
and a half earlier than she hadtold Lauren.
Wow.
I asked Ashton.
I said did you eat?
She said she said no, becauseshe didn't announce the for food

(10:53):
and they didn't announce forcake and they did not announce
for presents.
What it's left Lauren feelingshocked and betrayed.
Morning reports delivered.
Okay, um.
Now I feel like the worst momever because I trusted this
woman.
I understand I'd be mad too andI'd be mad at myself and I'd be
mad at the other mother.

(11:14):
So she said dropping off kidsat a birthday party is
completely normal.
Leaving before all the kids atthe birthday party have been
picked up is insane.
No kidding, it is.
I know parents that havedropped off kids before and
didn't stay.
Come on, it was at a skatingrink.
You think you're going to besafe?
What do you think about that?
What's your story on that one?

(11:34):
All right, so I guess I will doa different kind of question of
the day, and that is okay.
Tell me the highlight of yourweekend, mine, after all of that
, after all that was said, I'mgoing to tell you what the
highlight of mine was.
My grown daughter FaceTimed me.
She and some girlfriends wentto a water park here that's

(11:56):
pretty local.
They had a girls day out.
So she called me from the waterpark just to check in and say
hi, she FaceTimed me.
She never calls me.
She'll text me but she'llhardly ever calls.
But she FaceTimed me.
I guess too she wanted to showme the park and everything on
FaceTime.
But she said we all need to goout there as a family and start

(12:19):
a tradition with Cameronstarting next year, because you
know it was Labor Day weekend,so it was the last weekend for
the water park to be open thisyear.
So next year we're all going tostart a tradition and go out
there to this water park andtake Cameron with us, with my
son and his wife, my daughterand her husband and the gent and
I and little grand cam.
We're going to start doing that.
That was.

(12:39):
The highlight for me wasgetting the FaceTime phone call
from my daughter.
Okay, I gotta go.
Thanks for listening.
Love y'all, bye.
