TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

A quiet Thanksgiving Eve turns into a sharp tour through community trust, political surprise, and holiday boundaries. We open with a stark update on a missing small-town football coach who fled as investigators moved in on alleged child pornography and solicitation charges. The story forces a hard look at how leaders are vetted, what flight might signal, and how a tight-knit town pivots from pride to suspicion when the facts get dark and emotions run high.

Then we widen the lens to an unexpected political twist: the Communist Party USA appears on ballots again after decades and secures small but notable wins. We unpack why local races matter so much, how symbolism shapes voter reactions, and where media narratives feed selective outrage. Along the way we wrestle with praise, sarcasm, and the double standards that dominate public life—who gets grace, and who gets dragged—for the same behavior.

Finally, we bring it home with a candid look at hosting during the holidays. A fresh survey says most people hit their limit at six days for houseguests, with fewer grace days for in-laws and more for kids and parents. We talk hotels versus spare rooms, the dignity of personal space, and how clear boundaries can keep love intact when the guest list grows. It’s a conversation about consent and capacity—from the headlines on your feed to the people on your couch.

If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who’s prepping guest towels, and leave a quick review. Tell us: what’s your firm stay limit, and do you draw the line at the sofa or the hotel?

SPEAKER_00 (00:30):
Hello everyone.
Good morning.
Happy Thanksgiving Day.
Eve.
It is the Wednesday beforeThursday.
Hey.
Before it's the day beforeThanksgiving.
And I'm sitting here at workgetting ready to go in.
Uh, what are y'all doing thisweekend?
Do you have the weekend?
Do you have the week off?
What are you doing?
Do you have family visiting?

(00:50):
We have an article later thatI'm gonna go over that we will
end with about how long we gettired of family staying.
We will discuss it here in aminute.
But first, let's go to my otherstories that I have.
We have an update on thatmissing football coach.
Of course, wouldn't you know it?
There is some nefarious thingsgoing on with him.

(01:11):
Apparently, allegedly, howTravis Turner, coach at Center
of Child Porn Probe, went fromall American football scion zion
scion?
S-C-I-O-N?
Yeah.
Sky.
Wait, I don't know.
To fugitive from justice.
So apparently he's been wantedon child porn and solicitation

(01:36):
of a minor.
I knew there was aninvestigative journalist out
there that was going to digdeeper into this.
Come on.
I guess they just needed all oftheir verification and facts
first before they wrote thearticle.
He has a revered, he was arevered small town football
coach, twice-named coach of theyear, and expected to shepherd

(01:59):
his undefeated varsity squadthrough a crucial playoff game
Saturday.
Now he's a fugitive.
The stunning case has upendedthe quintessentially all
American life of Travis Turnerafter he bolted from his home in
rural Appalachia, Virginia, lastweek as cops closed in to

(02:20):
discuss the disturbingallegations against him.
So he knew this was coming andhe took off.
So he must be guilty.
I don't know.
The 46-year-old dad of three hasspent more than a decade co
okay, we know all that.
Turner okay, they're giving hisbackground and all this, blah
blah blah.

(02:41):
Uh let's see, the coach alsospent his life at the center of
the community's rich footballscene.
Turner even state, we mean let'smove on to the actual thing.
But it all came crashing downThursday night when cops arrived
at Turner's home near the end ofthe cul de sac in a tiny town of
about twelve hundred to discussserious criminal allegations

(03:05):
against him.
They insisted they were notthere to arrest him.
Turner, they were told, in rowas en route, was nowhere to be
found.
So I guess his wife tipped himoff.
Hey, the police are here wantingto talk to you.
That's my assumption.
Uh let's see, he was he has notbeen heard from since, prompting
investigators to launch amulti-agency manhut involving

(03:28):
drones, state police, aviation, canines, and bloodhounds.
What do you think?
What do you think happened tohim?
He's still missing.
Like a week later, where do youthink he went off to?
I mean, if he's used creditcards, they could they'll be
able to track that.
Or does that take a long time toget permission to do?
I mean, surely people have seenhim around town, if that's such

(03:51):
a small community.
Or what do you think happened tohim?
Uh on Tuesday, Virginia StatePolice revealed they issued they
issued a warrant for the marrieddad's arrest on five on five
counts of possession of childpornography and five counts of
using a computer to solicit aminor.
How do they know all of this?

(04:12):
I mean, how do they I guessmaybe they've oh on the after he
left, did they have a warrant togo in and grab all of his stuff
or did the wife just hand itover?
Cobb said additional charges arepending and that Turner is now
considered a fugitive.
Well, there you go.
That's the update.

(04:32):
We need to move on.
Oh, this is uh an interesting.
I'm not gonna read the wholething, but I think you should.
And this is the headline.
After a 40-year hiatus, theCommunist Party USA is back on
the ballot and already has threepeople in office.

(04:53):
Hello.
We're just gonna sit quietly andjust allow this to happen,
especially with Trump welcomewelcoming one of them into the
Oval Office.
Hello.
And then I hear commentators, these political opponents on TV,
Scott Bessett being one of them, praising how well uh Mam Donnie
in the meeting went and how he'sa great guy.

(05:15):
Oh, Marjorie Taylor Green is notallowed to praise Pelosi being
our sarcastic.
To me, when Marjorie TaylorGreen praised Nancy Pelosi, it
was our it was a sarcastic hittoward our own people who can't
get anything done.
But Nancy did.
But you know, that can't happen.
But Scott Bissent and alleverybody else can praise Ma'am

(05:37):
Donnie.
Oh, I see how it works.
And after four decades, after afour-decade-long break, the
Communist Party USA has pickedup the hammer and sickle to
resume the glorious struggle ofelect of electoral politics, and
they're already seeing success.
Three candidates.
The CPUSA ran in November 4th.

(06:00):
Excuse me, I'm sorry.
I thought I cleared my throatbefore I started.
November 4th election this yearin Maine, Massachusetts, and
upstate New York.
Of course, these are the statesthat doubles the number of open
communist party members uh everelected to U.S.
public office in the party's106-year history.

(06:22):
And yes, these are yourgrandfather's commies.
Whoo, Lord.
According to one former CPUSAcandidate who spoke to the post,
the party, founded in 1919 afterthe Russian Revolution, which
brought the first command.
Okay, we don't I want to knowwho the candidates are.
Who are they?
I don't know.

(06:42):
You can go read that if you'dlike and find that out.
But it's a warning sign.
Hello.
They are here and they aremaking it happen, and we are in
big doo-doo trouble.
Okay.
All right, last story, and thenuh we'll move on to the
question.
Maybe this will be the questionof the day.
It might be.

(07:05):
Most Americans tire of houseguests before the week ends.
A new survey reveals.
Is this really new?
I've been around for a while,and every year there's a story
like this that comes out.
A new study.
Give me a break.
Overstaying your welcome as aguest begins after less than a

(07:28):
week, according to new research.
A survey of 2,000 generalpopulation Americans looked at
how long they're happy to have aguest stay with them and
pinpointed this to be just sixdays.
Uh that's six days too long forme.
I mean, I love my family, and ifthey wanted to come down and
stay with me, that would befine.
They wouldn't want to stay withus though.

(07:49):
I'm I've I'll give you, I can'tgive you reasons why, but we're
waiting to refurbish our house,if you know what I mean.
All right.
Any longer than that, theaverage respondent feels the
guest is overstaying with whostays for six days with somebody
anyway?
Does that really happen?
I don't think this happensanymore.

(08:09):
And let me tell you something,I'm gonna tell you a little
secret too.
If I go up north to visit myfamily, I'm staying at a hotel.
Only because there's not enoughroom.
That's the only reason.
I'm staying at a hotel because Ido like my own space.
I have a lot of crap I take withme that I need to spread out in
the bathroom.
Okay.

(08:30):
Um, I'm sorry, I'm trying to putmy hat back on.
I put I took my hat off becauseI was cold.
I mean, it's hot now, I'm coldagain.
All right.
Moving on.
A let's see.
Any longer than that, and theaverage respondent feels that
the guest is overstaying.
A fifth will also not be sosubtle, with 22% admitting
they'll outright tell a guestthey've overstayed and need to

(08:51):
leave.
I like that person.
But this does not, but this doesvary by who the guest is.
Respondents' children are ableto stay for 10 days, and parents
have an eight-day grace periodbefore it becomes an imposition.
But in-laws and other familymembers are only encouraged to
stay for five.
That is still five days toolong.

(09:13):
Commissioned by Avocado GreenMattress and conducted by Talker
Research, the survey founddespite this, many respondents
do love hosting, but space maybe a key reason they're only
okay with guesting indefinitely.
Uh yeah, spaces, yeah.
For those celebrating theholidays, almost half, 46%, want

(09:33):
to be the house that everyonecomes to for festivities.
So what do you think?
Well, that might be the questionof the day.
What is uh the stay limit foryou, for your relatives?
Or do you have them, or do you,or do they stay at a hotel?
What it what what and then whenyou go visit somebody?

(09:54):
I mean, I don't want to stay insomebody else's house for six
days.
I don't want to be in somebodyelse's house.
I would much rather stay in ahotel room.
I'd just I would, okay?
That's just me.
Call me a snob.
I don't know.
All right, that's it for now,and happy Thanksgiving.
The gent and I will probably notbe on tomorrow.
There will probably not be apodcast tomorrow, but there will

(10:14):
be one on Friday because I'mcoming to work on Friday.
All right, have a good one.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
