Speaker 1 (00:11):
Hello and welcome to
my podcast, andrea TLC, in which
TLC stands for the Life Coach.
I am your host, andrea.
Thank you for joining me today.
I had a different podcast thatI wanted to do, but something
(00:35):
came up and I had to go throughsomething this past week,
something this past week, and itwas weighing heavy on my heart
and so, therefore, I just Idecided maybe I should talk
about it.
I didn't want to talk about it,I'm not real good at talking
(00:58):
about grieving, having a loss ofanything.
So, yeah, that's what I was.
I went through this past weekand so I think that's what I'm
going to go ahead and I'm goingto.
I'm going to talk about how howto cope with with grief and how
to heal from it.
So at some point in our liveswe all have to go.
(01:23):
Some point in our life we'reall going to go through grief.
Whether we're grieving the lossof a loved one, a relationship,
a dream, even the experience ofgrief can be very challenging.
I don't know.
I feel that there is also anopportunity for growth, healing
(01:47):
and transformation that goesalong with grief.
Let's try to go through somestrategies for coping with grief
and let's go through somestrategies for coping with grief
and finding healing, and we'regoing to try to do it together.
(02:07):
Let's first talk about whatgrief actually is.
Grief is a natural response toa loss and it can manifest in a
lot of different ways, fromintense sadness and despair to
anger, guilt, numbness.
(02:27):
I think that's the one that Imay, that I go through.
It's it's a thing to um, it'sit's my coping mechanism.
I'm not saying it's the rightone or even a healthy one.
I'm just telling you myexperience.
How I deal with it A lot oftimes is I don't deal with it.
(02:49):
You know one of those if youdon't think about it, it'll just
go away, type of deal.
But we all know that that's nottrue by any means.
It's important to remember thatgrief is a highly individual
experience.
There's no right or wrong wayto deal with grief.
(03:12):
As long as you're dealing withit, you can't ignore it, you
can't think that it doesn'texist, because you know it's
painful, it hurts.
You have to deal with it.
What are some common reactionsto grief?
You know, I don't know.
Some people feel overwhelmed.
(03:34):
It's like an overwhelming ofsadness and despair, while
others might feel angry, resentment, guilty, and again
while others, like myself, justnumb.
Like me, I feel numb.
They're just going through themotions of life without really
(03:57):
feeling anything at all.
You know what are some ways ofcoping, what are some ways that
we can cope with it, with grief.
That is One of the mostimportant things that we can do
is seek support.
One of the most importantthings we can do is seek Support
(04:18):
from our loved ones.
Surround yourself with peoplewho love you and care for you,
who are willing to listenwithout judgment.
This is not a time for anyoneto be judging how you feel or
why you feel the way that you do.
Just, you need to be withsomeone who understands and who
(04:41):
are just really there to listen.
It's important to take care ofyourself physically, emotionally
, mentally.
Finding meaning and healing inthe midst of grief can be, again
, very, very challenging, butit's possible.
You know the way it, but it'spossible.
(05:02):
One way that can be helpful isto find ways to honor the memory
of your loved one, whetherthrough creating a memorial,
participating in a charity eventor simply just sharing stories
and memories of that person withothers.
Sharing stories and memories ofthat person with others.
(05:23):
You know, talk about it and youknow how they made you feel.
You know different things thaty'all did together and you know
stuff that were funny, funnymoments.
You know just stuff like that.
You know there's ways tosupport others who are grieving.
(05:44):
So if not you, maybe someoneelse is grieving.
So, again, one of the mostimportant things that you can do
is just simply be there forthem.
Listen and listen withoutjudgment.
You know, be that shoulder forthem to cry on.
You know, be that shoulder forthem to cry on.
It's important to offerpractical support, like helping
(06:13):
with errands if they may have itchores, you know.
Check in on them regularly tosee how they're doing.
Sometimes that is all theyreally need is to know that
there's someone out there thatcares about how they feel, what
they're going through, thatcares about how they feel, what
they're going through.
I hope you find these ways ofcoping with grief helpful.
I hope you find it informative.
Remember that grief is anatural part of life and it's
(06:35):
okay to feel whatever you'refeeling, as long as you're true
to yourself and acknowledge yourfeelings.
Know that you're not alone.
There are people who are outthere, who love you and care
about you and want to supportyou through this very, very
difficult time, so allow them todo so.
Until next time, peace, loveand light.
