El sensor de temperatura del refrigerante, conocido como ECT, es uno de los elementos clave en el control electrónico del motor.
Este componente funciona como un traductor que informa a la computadora (ECU) qué tan caliente está el motor, ajustando la mezcla aire-combustible, la activación del ventilador y otros parámetros críticos para un funcionamiento eficiente.
El ECT utiliza una resistencia variable del tipo Coeficiente de temperatura negativo, donde la resistencia disminuye conforme aumenta la temperatura.
Cuando este sensor falla, el motor pierde precisión en sus cálculos, generando problemas como incremento en el consumo de combustible, dificultad en el arranque (especialmente en frío o en caliente) y, en casos graves, sobrecalentamiento.
