Is this what's happening here?
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:08):
who is that strange
fellow on the other side?
Speaker 1 (00:10):
hey, do I know you
welcome to around the bases, a
pop culture and sports podcastwith your host.

(00:37):
We're back.
Oh my god, how long has it been.
It's been like forever, charlie.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Dude, it's been like
what seven, eight weeks.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I just had to go to a
fat camp and you know, lose
weight.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
No, I mean, if that's
what you did, clearly it worked
.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
What's up, buddy how?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
you doing?
I'm doing well.
How are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Good, I hear you went
to a dad camp, didn't you?
Our buddy Charlie and Rosie.
They are parents.
Charlie is a dad.
Charlie celebrated his firstFather's Day.
Charlie, tell them about yournew bundle of joy.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I did.
Thank you, thank you very much, thank you very much.
It was obviously earlier thanwe expected because we had
actually scheduled to record onthe day that Dylan graced us, so
that was actually so.
(01:45):
I'll have to wear that one.
Guys, we've had a shortpaternity leave, so it's okay,
Honestly it coincided in not abad time because, you know,
things were kind of quietingdown.
Now we've got a few more thingson the docket, so, hey, maybe
it worked.
You know, Tim, all of a suddenover here it looks like a brand
new person, so clearlysomething's working.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
You know it's funny
though, dude, Like so.
Usually, you know, and this isfor the audience we would
actually, like you said youalluded to, we would give you
guys a heads up that, hey, we'regoing to go on a break and,
like you said, we were planningon recording, we, we were going
to take a break all the timeanyway, because you know, June
(02:27):
is not a heavy reality basedtime.
But yeah, dylan kind of justsaid you know what?
Speaker 2 (02:29):
dude, I'm coming now.
He didn't want to keep waiting.
He he heard that, uh, you knoweveryone's having all this, all
this fun out here, so he wantedto join and, yeah, he came three
weeks early.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
So well, you know
what it was, dude.
I know what it was becausedylan and I talked a little bit
and apparently it's because theCubs have been in first place in
killing it that he wanted to behere for that.
That is true.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
They had a very, very
hot start to the Dylan era.
He even made it as a qualitybaby on the Cubs, broadcast on
Marquee.
I saw that that was awesome, sohe's getting the whole
experience.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
So far, You're
already putting him out there as
a cub super fan.
I mean I I mean that's amazing.
Uh, I'm waiting for you know,I'm waiting for dylan to win
mound ball, um when he'seligible yeah, right, that would
be awesome.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
That would be awesome
get everyone in the family to
win at once.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
That'd be fun I'm
waiting for him to throw out the
first pitch.
Uh, you know in charlie'sceremonial grounds crew I love
that charlie and rosie's friend, who is a singer, sang the
national anthem yes, shout outto our good friend gina.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh, and it was
awesome it was I gotta say you
mean you know how big of a cupfan I am to see someone you know
and care about that close onthe field performing before a
big like summer cubs game.
It was awesome.
We had a great time crazy firstnight out.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
So yeah, I, I, I, I,
you, you, you guys are glowing.
I've been very happy for youguys.
Um, we have a new fan, a new, anew uh listener, so you know
whether passive or not uh, soDylan.
I can't wait, you know, and,and for our audience, I am
headed up, uh, in two and a halfweeks to Chicago to see the
(04:13):
family and to see Dylan, and togo to the national sports
collectors convention and to goto a Cubs game and, yeah, to
catch up.
I can't wait to see you guys.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Yeah, it's going to
be a lot of fun, looking forward
to it.
You might not you're not goingto recognize me, but I mean
luckily, luckily.
I have the honor that this isrecording in video so I can see
you.
Yeah, if it wasn't for that, though you're probably right I'd
be like who is this guy?
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I've lost over 60
pounds, which is crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
That's so crazy, dude
.
You should be really proud.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I am, I, I am
continuing with the process.
I am getting there.
I'm almost below 200 pounds, which is unbelievable for me.
Um, I started this journey at261 264.1 um.
So, yeah, it's it's crazy.
It's it's it's crazy.
Um, uh, we, we had a lot goingon.
I will say, um, the mets wereare in first place.
Mets were are in first place,we're in first place, are in
(05:08):
first place, we're in firstplace, are in first place, we're
in first place.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yeah, that was a fun
carousel.
Honestly, with that divisionMets Phillies I mean the Braves
has been slumping a little bit,but the Mets and Phillies I mean
those are two great teams, butthe fact that they're up there
keeping you guys honest.
Same goes for the Cubs.
The Cubs haven't dropped out,but their lead has shrunk.
(05:32):
The Brewers have been one ofthe hotter teams in the league,
but the Cubs, brewers, mets andPhillies have I don't want to
say separated fully, but there'sa nice gap, at least for as far
as reaching the postseason Boththe fully.
But there's a nice gap, atleast for as far as reaching the
postseason.
Both the cubs and the mets havea good four to five game
cushion for that.
But as far as division go, yeah, it's one game, neck and neck,
(05:52):
both divisions it's.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Let me tell you
something I I know I should be
grateful for this opportunity asa meds fan for my team to be in
first place sometimes, but itis nerve-wracking because you
know, I where there's so muchtrauma we talked about it on
this podcast before there's somuch trauma built up as a Mets
fan over the years that anytimewe slip from first place and you
(06:16):
know this, cause we talk allthe time I'm like, yeah, I'm
giving up baseball, I'm done,I'm not, I'm not following, I'm
like you know, I'm a babydiapers you posted something one
day and I made a comment.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
I made a comment
tongue-in-cheek, saying oh,
you're following baseball againthat was yesterday.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yes, I was like I'm
not following baseball.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I was always
following baseball, I know I was
just guys just giving you ahard time.
Here's the.
You know I like to color theglass optimistic.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Oh, I know.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Here's what I'm going
to say for you.
Phillies had their hot runright, got hot, caught the Mets
but didn't pull away.
Mets caught them again.
Now, all of a sudden I'm goingto, let's say, the last like
seven to ten days the Mets havegotten back a bunch of key
pieces.
Mcneil's been back.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
They just activated.
He's been really back.
By the way, he's been playingreally well.
He's been McNeil's been greatI'm going to.
I've been playing him in mydeep roto league because he's
had over 800 OPS.
So you've, got him back.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
You got Senga back.
I mean, the Mets made basicallythree, four trades by just
getting healthy players back.
And let's not forget, we're twoweeks from the trade deadline.
Right now, both your Mets andmy Cubs, I expect to be two of
the more active teams, so Ithink both teams will be making
(07:41):
bolstering different componentsof their team.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
I just dude to that
point, though.
I have javi baez trauma and Ijust get so nervous with rental
kind of things going on.
Yeah, I mean, rental is onelike.
Kyle tucker is one thing and Idon't call him necessarily a
rental, but at least you had himseason right, that's what I'm
saying.
He at least you guys had him infull season.
It's different than when youget someone.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
It's risky trading
for a guy for two months.
You're, you're not wrong I mean.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
But you know the risk
versus reward, because we are
in the hunt for a pennant andyou feel that they have the
roster, but I don't want to dude, I don't want to give up.
Drew gilbert for peanuts.
You know what I mean.
Like I don't want to give upsomeone like that.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
That's the nice thing
about having stearns is I don't
think you're gonna have toworry about that.
Yeah I think, if if any of yourbig guys get moved, at least
one of the pieces coming to newyork will be multi-year
controlled I hope stearns is toosmart for that.
I mean look he's already, lookat me, look what he's already
done in a couple years can wetalk about the season that pete
(08:46):
alonso is having like?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
can we just sign the
dude, like what is happening
here?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
um.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
We each have an mvp
yeah, you guys have to kyle
tucker, we have pete alonso.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
I mean oh, I was
saying pete, oh, oh I know, I
know yeah can we talk?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
about the year this
dude is having.
Oh my god, like again, Likeagain.
You're giving me Javi Baeztrauma here.
How much time do you have?
This is Javi Baez.
This is the Javi Baez traumaI'm talking about, though.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I know, but at least
he's in a tolerable place for
you he is.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
I love Chicago the.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yankees, or the
Braves or the Phillies.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
I've said this many
times.
I I've said this many times Ilove the Cubs.
I've never had an issue withthe Cubs.
If he's going to be anywhereand he's not in my division, let
him be with.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
And how about the
fact that we have three
consecutive spots in the lineup, starting in the all-star game?
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Tonight, tonight,
tonight, tonight is the all-star
game as we record.
Anyway, when you hear this,it's probably over anyway, when
you I was telling probably over.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
I can't remember the
last time I've actually wanted
to watch the MLB all-star gameand I'll tell you what.
I'm gonna watch it tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I'm excited for the
all-star game, but let me tell
you, dude, like I, I have some.
I mean, I'm glad, I'm happy, let me, let me just preface this
I'm very happy with the Metsand the Cubs and representation,
uh, overall, uh, in theall-star game.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
What concerns me,
though, I know where you're
going with this dude, there's somany like I don't understand
like the snubs yeah, dude, likewhat, like what.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
How is juan soto not
playing in the all-star game
tonight, even as a reserve?
Like I don't understand thatboth.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
both our teams have
many player beefs right now, so
I would say a Suzuki who wasleading the majors in RBI at the
time of the reserves werepicked.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Yeah, exactly Suzuki.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
With a 360 OPS, I
mean.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Suzuki and Soto.
I just don't Listen andaudience.
I'm sorry out there.
I'm sorry, not sorry, but yeah, the Cubs and the Mets are
pretty good this year and, yes, they should have representation
any other year.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
You'd see a ton of
Dodgers and Yankees.
Right now in the NL are theCubs and the Mets, and the
Dodgers are one half game aheadof the Cubs for first.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Right, right and and
the Dodgers.
And this has always been anissue.
I mean, there's been yearswhere the mets deserved to have
at least one player, even ifthey weren't doing well.
(11:18):
I mean, everyone has one player, but they deserve to have two
players and they just had thatone.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah, anchor a player
and how about this going to
give one more, a few more snubs, but one more snub.
Shout out for the Cubs, theplayer with the highest OPS, to
not make the all-star team since, like 2002,.
I believe it was that I saw.
Do you know who?
That is no someone.
(11:45):
It's someone who doesn't get alot of talk no who it's cubs
first baseman, michael bush oh,bush having an incredible season
numbers above freeman.
I mean, his numbers are higherthan alonzo's, but alonzo should
be there too, and he isrightfully so.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
But that's how good
bush has been, which is crazy I
mean, mind you, I mean firstbase in a national league.
You have freddie freeman, youhave michael bush, you have
peter long.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
I mean the
competition is pretty good at
first base yeah, um, I meanmichael bush is fourth in the
majors in weighted runs createdplus that's definitely not at
first base.
All hitters definitely a sn, asnub, shohei, cal Raleigh, and
then I can't remember who wasthird and then Michael Bush is
(12:32):
fourth.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Can we just real
quick?
I mean also, I want to talkreal quick about Cal Raleigh.
Where did he come from?
This year he?
Was not the big dumper.
They call them that because hehas a big dumper, and I don't
have to explain it.
Um, but where did he come from?
Speaker 2 (12:50):
like, I mean, he was
always good he had a big second
half last year and that secondhalf has turned full time.
Yeah, he is, look he.
People talk about him and it'sstill not enough, because he is
not only doing what he's doingoffensively, but he's playing
platinum glove defense atarguably the most important
(13:10):
position catcher toughest, thetoughest position.
Yeah, Catcher shortstopprobably the two most important
on the diamond, and then throwcenter field in there.
Maybe a third.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
But I called it.
Who did I put on my fantasyteam?
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I did, and luckily
you.
You turn down woos of peopletrying to trade him.
I think I may have helped steeryou in that you did Decline,
that you absolutely did Goodthing you did I will say too.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
I mean, as we're
recording, this last night was a
home run derby and he did eekby a win, but it deserved.
He deserved it.
I will say that was not sostacked.
I thought that home run derbywas not so.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
See, I saw you texted
me that and I respectfully got
to say I had a lot of young starpower.
O'neal Cruz is good With theexception of Jazz, who kind of
he may have stunk the bed alittle bit, but other than him
it was pretty.
It was honestly a pretty goodderby.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
You know I have some
experience with jazz.
I will say this my feelingsabout-.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
O'Neal Cruz, I don't
know if you watched the derby at
all.
No, he hit a home run 513 feetyesterday.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Unbelievable.
I've always liked O'Neal-.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
He hit 513 more than
485.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
I've unbelievable.
I like I've always liked himmore than 485.
I've always liked o'neill cruzand when I say it wasn't stacked
I'm definitely not talkingabout him.
He, he definitely deserves tobe there.
Um, I have experience with jazzchisholm, you know, because he
was a marlin.
Now we'll say he was better asa marlin.
I think he's kind of stunk tobed since he went to the yankees
.
To be honest with you, um,don't look at the numbers.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
I don't want to be
the short porch, but he's
basically a 40 homer in 162games as a yankee I'm still
annoyed that he left the mattmarlins.
But when you also, I also gottasay, though does that show the
difference of the short porch?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
because a lot of
those balls that jazz had fly
out to the home run.
Derby are homers at yankeestadium.
Yes, so the yankees.
As much as I don't like them, give them a little credit
they're identifying a guy whocould maybe thrive in that home
situation whatever he's got whatI'm pretty sure he has like 17
homers this year already too.
I haven't been following.
I don't follow the yankees.
(15:21):
What are you talking about?
Except when the bats arebeating them um, but yeah, you
know I'm excited for the secondhalf.
We're at the all-star breakright now.
I am really excited about thesecond half and I have a feeling
when I'm up there in Chicago ina couple of weeks we're going
to be hearing some thingshappening in the trade deadline.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I was going to say
you'll be here right at the
deadline.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yep, and that's
usually when stuff pops off.
I wouldn't be surprised if theMets pick up some starting
pitching by the deadline.
I'm just afraid, like I saidbefore, about what we're giving
up for, that Pitching is alwaysa hard thing because it's so you
can get so unlucky in thatdepartment.
(16:03):
Let's put it that way.
It's always risky, but we needit, so we need, we need decent
pitching to kind of push usthrough the rest of the season
yeah, and just just real quickfor frame of reference pete
alonzo amazing season all-star908 ops, 21 homers.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Jazz not far behind
17 homers 862 ops okay, I Okay,
I'll eat Crow.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Pretty good, I'll eat
the Crow.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
He did do terrible at
the home run derby, though,
which I will give you fullcredit for, because he had three
homers.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I was rooting for Cal
Raleigh, just so you know.
Yeah, nice, it was a fun one.
A lot of young star players Alot of people didn't even do it.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
We didn't have Judge,
we didn't have Shohei, we
didn't have Schwarmer.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Alonzo Alonzo.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Alonzo, a lot of guys
who have won it a few times
already.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
I will say the
Seattle Mariners are one of
those teams too, kind of likethe Baltimore Orioles, where I
kind of will root them whenthey're not playing the Mets.
Um, I'm like, I'm fine.
Oh, other Cubs, Um, now thatI've met you all over for the
Cubs to a more so than I did, Um, yeah, so I, I was happy for
him.
I like, I liked a big dumperhe's, he's a, he's a good dude.
(17:18):
He does a lot of good stuff toofor the community and Seattle.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
So yeah, he does?
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Um, I like that.
Yeah, I was happy to see himwin.
So what else is going on, sincewe have?
Well, there was a reality showthat has aired almost half the
season, if not more, since wewent off, and we haven't even
talked about it.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Did we briefly, maybe
mention it right before.
Maybe at the beginning, I thinkwe briefly talked about it,
because I think Peter hadn'tbeen added yet.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Yes, we were talking
about josh martinez and banging,
banging the pans and bigbrother, and we're talking about
destination x, a new realityshow on mbc.
Um, what are your overallthoughts of the season so far?
Speaker 2 (18:01):
I gotta say, I've
come around more on it.
I'm not gonna lie, I think thefirst couple episodes I was kind
of it could be because p aroundmore on it.
I'm not going to lie, I thinkthe first couple episodes I was
kind of it could be becausePeter's on it and I like his
gameplay because as helped it.
But I'm honestly I I've I thinkI've liked it more than I
expected I would.
I'm not I'm not saying I loveit, but I was expecting I had a
(18:22):
low bar.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I think, and I had a
high.
I guess I, as a fan of the likea show like the amazing race, I
had a higher bar, do I thinkit's?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
it's.
I had never watched amazingrace, so I think that's.
We came into it from twodifferent perspectives.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
You will.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
It's premiering in
September with all big brother
players I'll probably watch thatone.
You're right, yes.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yes, I will say this
it's not.
Amazing Race is constantlyadrenaline.
Like you're going, it's boom,boom, boom there's, like you
know, they're out and about.
This is a different show.
Yes, it's a travel-related show, but it's basically you have to
guess where you are Destination.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
X.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
So in that regard,
there's a lot that's hidden.
That, I think, takes away alittle bit of the intrigue and
excitement of the actualtraveling part of the show.
But I will say it.
It, jeffrey D Morgan is a greatI thought he, I think he's a
great host.
He lends that kind of thatwalking dead type of persona to
this show, which is interestingI find.
I love the goggles that they getelectronically turned on and
(19:33):
off.
That's pretty cool.
Um, there was one episode wherethey were literally in a
challenge where they were allthe way up and they had they're
like we're what's happening hereand they turned the goggles on
and you could see that they'resuspended in the air.
And I mean I and I thinkPeter's, and they turn the
goggles on and you can seethey're suspended in the air and
I mean I and I think peter'sdoing a great job.
So a little preface of the show, folks, for those of you who
(19:54):
have not maybe watched it yet isbasically um, contestants are
traveling on his bus that hasthe screens like blacked out,
basically like a big coach buswhere the beds are in there and
everything it's a sick bus, likefor a.
It's pretty sick and they'retraveling from destination to
destination throughout Europeand each day they're in a
(20:16):
different destination and theyhave to guess where they are
based on clues.
Usually they'll take into alocation with goggles on that
are electronically blocked out, that are sick, that are awesome
and I have to guess there is.
I will say there are some veryinteresting characters on this
season.
There's one dude, um.
You want to talk about him?
Speaker 2 (20:38):
who which one biggie,
biggie, my god, he's an
interesting fellow he's acharacter like he's great he's
funny he's a casting perfectionas far as a reality show goes.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
I mean, he's like.
He's like uh, and I looked athis social media this is like
his thing.
He's a comedian, so he's like.
He has these quips that he doesand he's like I, I can't even,
I can't even mimic it, but he'slike whatever's happening, he
says something dog, commentdon't.
And if you're gonna, do thishis.
His confessionals are some ofthe funniest shit I've ever seen
(21:12):
on reality tv, like it's good,um, so I mean the casting is
great, peter, of course peterweber, who was on the bachelor
and of course we know him fromthe traitors um, probably one of
the standout stars of thatseason of the traitors, in my
opinion.
That didn't that won.
I mean, he was one of severalpeople that won in the end.
He's good with that, gio, although the last episode not so
(21:37):
much.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yeah, well, how about
the first time that none of
them got the country correct?
That was kind of crazy.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
Well, peter landed in
Italy, but he was nowhere near
right.
I knew it was.
That's the thing I'm watching.
I'm like they're going to be invenice.
I mean they talk about bridgesand I mean, come on, yeah, I
think they thought maybe theycan go back to italy the most
recent episode, I thought theyhad the most amount of, like,
cool hidden clues within thechallenge yeah, I think they did
(22:07):
a good job pointing those outon that time I did too, and and
it's funny that that none ofthem got it I, I, I think it's a
good show.
I think I hope it gets renewed.
Um, I, I would love to uhpartake in applying for that
show, for sure that one's like,so up your alley yeah, so up my
alley you could be season two'srick.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Wait what, what?
And I mean I think rick is oneof the favorites yeah, I mean
you.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
You have to admit,
though the first, he didn't
start off really strong in thefirst episode or so, but no, but
you got to admit he's.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
I mean the most
recent game, peter literally
picked his entire alliance onone team simply because Rick had
not lost a single challenge, that's true.
So that, I think, was he wasmaybe playing a little bit with
house money, but it worked outin the end for them.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Yeah, that's a good
point.
Wow, yeah, All right.
So we're going to keeprecapping destination next.
Now I will say I don't want tospeak for Charlie, but I don't
know how regular our schedulewill be, but we will be back
semi regularly with episodes aswe go, Definitely for sure.
Um, we will be, you know, as wego through the summer, because
(23:25):
the show we're about to talkabout after I just give this
little announcement real quickwe will definitely have regular
episodes of Around the Bases aswe go throughout the summer.
Awards, the Emmy nominationsand nominated for outstanding
(23:46):
reality competition show thisyear is the amazing race,
RuPaul's drag race.
Top chef survivor.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
That's all for
seasons that I've already aired
on TV.
Yes, okay.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Top chef, survivor
and the traders those are all
nominated for outstandingreality competition program.
I think that's awesome.
Just from my thoughts, Ibelieve Alan Cumming was
nominated for Host of RealityShow.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Jeff as well.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Jeff Probst was
nominated.
Interesting how.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
Was there a Daniel
Tosh in there?
Speaker 1 (24:23):
I don't think there
was a Daniel.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Tosh.
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Charlie is referring
to the goat, of course, um yeah,
which we both love.
That we don't think is comingback.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Um, but house of
villains is coming back, we do
know that they made more thanone season of it, didn't they?
Speaker 1 (24:39):
I don't think they
did, or no was there only one?
Speaker 2 (24:41):
no, yeah, I was
thinking there were two I love
tosh, like I.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
I just thought he
brought this certain charm to it
.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Me too.
I hope he gets to host anothersomething like that.
He's good at that.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
He really is.
I enjoyed him too.
With that Gabby it wasannounced Gabby is going to be
hosting some show coming up.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
That's Alex Cooper is
like the producer of it.
That's right.
It's like a dating on a cruiseor something like that.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
A producer of it.
That's right.
It's like a dating on a cruiseor something like that, a cruise
ship, kind of like the loveboat.
I guess a couple of years agothey came out that there was a
reality version of the love boat.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
He's uh she's made a,
not, not gabby.
But alexandra has made a littlebit of a not an enemy in the
chicago area.
I don't know if you saw that.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
No, why.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
She sang the seventh
inning stretch at Wrigley a week
or two ago and kind of made amockery of it and people hated
it.
It was not good I've heardbefore.
I was not a fan, oh what.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
So it's just like I
mean if.
For those of you that don'tknow, I'm sorry to explain, but
the seventh inning stretch atWrigley field is like a baseball
legend experience.
Like Carrie Carrie started that, it was like it's been a whole
thing.
So what?
What happened exactly?
Speaker 2 (25:57):
She.
I mean, it seemed like she wasmaking fun of it.
Honestly, it's so bad where, ifyou just type in, I have to
look it up If you just type inAlex Koop and don't even finish
her name.
The third thing is take me outto the ballgame.
Uh-oh yeah, she got booed heavyet it's everywhere.
(26:18):
I'll send you the link and youcan.
You can watch it later, but itended up getting put into the
top five worst anthems atwrigley and there's been a few
that you can probably remember, like ozzy, ozzy osbourne and his
yeah, you found it alreadychicago cubs and take me out to
the ball game yeah, comes upright away.
Oh my god, that's crazy yeah, all right, I'll check it out.
(26:41):
You won't like it either.
Just warning you now as a as abaseball traditionalist and
purist oh, okay, I will.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
I will definitely
watch it and we'll report back
the next episode for sure.
Um, um.
So one show that we both love, that we both are fans of huge
fans of Big Brother is back.
We had just started a newseason of Big Brother Dude.
(27:09):
This cast is pretty fire.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
First two episodes
came out.
Yeah, they're definitelyplaying a lot harder than the
season where everybody wentunanimous, every single freaking
week.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Unbelievable.
Like they're already.
Like you got Jimmy.
They're already conspiring andlike going after each other and
hold on.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Can we first talk
about the most important thing
that's happened, maybe in thehistory of big brother?
Speaker 1 (27:33):
shower gate.
Shower gate, yes.
So how many hours did she say?
Speaker 2 (27:42):
It kept getting
pushed.
My favorite thing is whenstories keep getting exaggerated
, because someone first said anhour and a half, and then later
someone said it was two hours,so I I jokingly I can't wait for
someone to say four hours.
I think they did.
That's honestly, though can wejust say read the room a little
more?
Speaker 1 (27:58):
yeah that's well.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
That's where the
social agree it's not like a
crazy huge deal, but like justread the room.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Read the room and
kind of move uh, maybe shift
your behavior.
Like you said, to the room.
Like you have to, like thewe've talked about this many
times on this podcast.
The social aspect of a realityshow cannot be mistaken.
Like you have to read the room, you it.
(28:25):
I can write the same.
I don't know about you.
I can write the same storyevery year about contestants
that fail to read the room andthey're usually one of the first
eliminated and, shockinglyenough, even though she went in
with good terms, she's on one ofthe three on the block she's
nominated yes at three yes, because bbai arena, although
(28:48):
it's not being called that thisyear, is back, which we
predicted.
I mean, it was a great twistlast year.
Um, it's back.
And uh, the other two peoplenominated are.
One of them was the actualaccomplice so we didn't explain
what that was yet.
Yeah, this season is a mystery,so the house is like a murder
(29:09):
mystery, which is funny, becausewhat did I do last year?
I was a murder mystery actor,so it's funny that this is the
well.
They like looking at myinstagram, what's happening, um,
so so the house is a murdermystery house, and what they did
with twist was they theybrought it first of all as an
audience.
We see 16 contestants coming inthe house and we're like, okay,
(29:31):
traditional 16 contestants.
No, there is a whole expect theunexpected thing and all of a
sudden, there's somebody comingat the door and, of course, we
knew that there was going to bea 17th house guest.
We opened up this poverty Are?
Speaker 2 (29:48):
you really going?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
to go there, All
right, so let me explain to our
audience.
So no, I want to explain to theaudience though.
So before we, Charlie and Ishow you know, we, we, we kind
of game before the show and Iwas like, yeah, it's going to be
this person's going to be that.
I said it's going to be poverty, and then I said it's going to
be Rachel, it's going to be, andI think it was 50 different
(30:10):
people for a while.
Charlie thought I was giving him50 different people and uh, I I
thought maybe it wasi againright From Big Brother 25 and
Survivor.
But no, it was Rachel, rachelfloaters.
Grab a life vest and I will sayCharlie doesn't know Rachel
from Big Brother.
(30:31):
Charlie knows Rachel from theTraitors, that's true.
I will say she is one of themost iconic big brother players
to ever play the game.
Without a doubt you talk.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
How many seasons has
she played?
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
She's like at least
three right.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
But this is the first
season she's playing without
Brendan, her husband, who shemet on the show.
Wait, she's played with him onall previous seasons all
previous seasons she's playedwith him, so this is the first
season she's branched out on herown.
Wow.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
Rachel, how have they
both been back together so many
times?
Because they got married?
She's been on two all-starversions, I know that, and he
was with in both of them.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
I think so, yeah,
okay, there was another version
where they brought it was aregular season like this, but
they brought brendan and racheland they brought jeff and jordan
, who was another big brothercouple on.
That was another season, um,and one season she came on maybe
it was they targeted as the twocouples I assumed no, they kind
(31:30):
of lasted.
I think that was the seasonjordan actually won the show,
which is crazy.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah, jordan and
rachel both won their one season
, so all the newbies did notlearn rachel has one big brother
before I mean yeah, she won thefirst time right the first time
she met brennan on it I thinkthe second time.
Oh, okay, I thought I saw theyshowed like a clip of something
where she was talking about itand he, like, sacrificed him for
her oh, maybe it was that I, II'm bad.
(31:56):
I wouldn't if we were to goback and rewatch one of her
seasons.
Which would you recommend?
Speaker 1 (32:01):
The first one for
sure.
Okay, floaters, grab a lifevest.
She's unbelievable, like youknow.
So I have trouble.
Memory is not my favorite thing, let me put it that way.
I have trouble recalling thingssometimes, but I'll have to.
I'll get back to you and tellyou exactly, okay good we'll
(32:21):
have plenty of time to talkabout, but I will tell you,
rachel is freaking unbelievable.
Like I'm a I'm a fan in a good,bad way.
If she makes really good tv, Iwill say that yeah totally yeah,
and she you're gonna really andshe was.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
She was entertaining
on traders, that's for sure
between her and jimmy thisseason.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Jimmy was ready to
get rachel out right away until
they drew a curveball, which Iexpected coming, because he
wasn't there for the first hohwhere she's able to stay a week
and that's I, of course, bydesign, because you want to have
rachel on at least two weeks, Imean to get the most out of
that.
Um, it'll be, I think she'llshe be okay.
I don't think she's going to beearly in limb because I think a
(33:04):
lot of the house guests arekind of quote unquote,
starstruck from her being there.
So I think, you know, I thinkshe'll last.
Um, I, it's going to be aninteresting season.
I think there's going to be alot's.
(33:25):
Uh, so there's like this Idon't know what.
What did we call him?
A demon man?
What did they?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
call him.
I don't know.
There's a guy in this red likehe looks like who's the dude on
episode one of star wars, dark.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
Yeah, he looks like
darth maul yeah, that's a good,
that's a really good, that's agood reference there um, but you
know, it's exactly what weexpect from big brother.
We expect that campiness frombig brother, you know.
So I, I'm, I'm excited.
We'll see.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
We'll see what
happens any, any early favorites
or predictions of who ofanything, it's so hard the first
week, but I you know what Ihave one, yeah, go for it.
I'm I'm calling sleep a bigsleeper right now.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Ooh, I think, is
Lauren.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
I agree with that.
I think every one of them isunderestimating just how smart
she is, can I?
I just want to point out, okay,so we mentioned that there was
this twist where there wassomeone who had to help do all
these things, for Rachel came inas a 17th house guest, but she
was the only one who knew it hadto be a girl, because if
(34:28):
Rachel's replacing someone, theyweren't going to have nine
women and seven men, so it hadto be eight and eight and she
had to be replacing it.
Not one other person in thehouse knew it.
No one thinks she's a super fanand she is.
I'm telling you she is asleeper.
Everyone's gonna think you know, oh, she's just ditzy, whatever
.
I'm telling you she's smart andshe's gonna pull the wool over
(34:52):
on a bunch of people.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
That's my thought I,
I agree with that.
Actually, I think I, I honestlyshe's going to make it far,
without a doubt.
When she said that, I was likeyeah, of course, and I'm like,
oh wait, no one else isunderstanding this.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Like no one sees this
.
How did not one other personsay that or bring it up?
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Insane Sleeping at
the wheel, and so what did they
do?
The top two vote getters areboth guys.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Zay Z um, the the
cowboy, and riley, riley um
which.
And riley kept saying multipletimes go ahead and vote me, I'll
still be sitting here.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
He told him flat out,
which was brilliant, if you
think about it now.
Riley is the only one for surethey know is not lying about
being the um, so now he's that, hopefully, is some goodwill with
a lot of people although thisis something to show set up.
So I don't know why they'reangry at the accomplice.
I mean they were just doingwhat they're supposed to do.
(35:53):
I don't ever get that like whyyou're also.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
I will say it seemed
a lot easier when they showed
the replay of how it happenedthan they let on to be, because
she had a button that said atimer that did 10 minutes later,
when they're all sitting downtogether in the same place, so
it had nothing to do with wherepeople were sitting.
So you know what that remindedme of was one of the shows.
(36:17):
I forget which one it was, butthey're just.
Oh, you know what I was sayingwas.
It reminds me of Tra um, one ofthe shows.
I can't I forget which one itwas, but they're just.
Oh, you know what I was sayingwas.
It reminds me of traitors, inthat people are jumping to.
Oh, I saw this person reactlike this, or this person was
sitting over here and I heardfoot.
It's just like randomness sorandom.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Like what?
Why?
Like what?
What are you doing?
Um, it's gonna.
You know what dude I I was.
I will say this, and I think Isaid this to you on a text.
I said this is like I'm.
It's refreshing.
I feel like this is arefreshing season.
The casting is great.
I I feel like the twist issomething we haven't seen before
(36:54):
.
We haven't seen this murdermystery type of thing.
I like that.
Like, I like that it'ssomething different and I think
you, they can do a lot out of it.
And I love the fact that theybrought back we haven't seen
this murder mystery type ofthing.
I like that.
Like, I like that.
It's something different and Ithink they can do a lot out of
it.
And I love the fact that theybrought back the AI arena.
I love the idea that you knowyou're going into eviction night
, not knowing whether or notyou're going to be safe if
you're on the block.
I love that, like it brings anextra element to the show.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I that that, that it
leaves the potential for more
future backdoor situations andyou might have more spots where,
um, uh, what's his name?
From a couple of taylor no, nottaylor, what's his name?
Who is real good, who datedrubina tucker.
You could have more tuckersituations where he says put me
(37:37):
in because I'm confident enough, where I can win one or two of
those and just keep pullingmyself off yeah, exactly, and
it's a good.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
It's almost like a
good strategy and akin to the
survivor of fire making towardsthe end, where you're kind of
making you know your list, uhsaying, hey, look what I've done
.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
And you're saying,
hey, I'm going to put myself
into fire to eliminate thisplayer Like there's, it leaves
room for that.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
It does, and it just
it adds an extra layer also for
people like me that look at thefeeds and know exactly what's
going on, like I already sittinghere and you're going to say,
of course you do.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
How much of the live
feeds have you already been
watching?
I already know who wins thepower of you.
Of course you do, and that isthe least shocking thing
revealed on this podcast.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Boom, boom, boom.
Oh, you have to admit, thoughI'm pretty, I'm not, I'm not
sharing it Like.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
I respect.
I will say you're nothing butnot.
You're nothing but consistent.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
I'm good with
confidentiality, though I can
keep that's true, I can, that'strue I can I, can, I can keep,
uh, so I'm rooting.
I don't know, I have a coupleof favorites I'm rooting for.
I'm actually rooting for Jimmy, cause I like that drama a
little bit.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
I'm hoping he stays
for a little while.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
I'm right.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Hold on.
Now the first, the first threethat are up.
Let's assume I'm hoping I guesswith two rounds of it you can't
really assume anything but oneround.
I don't hope.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
Who would you hope?
Well, that's true.
Who would you hope?
I'm afraid to answer thatquestion.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Okay, that's fair.
You know what?
We'll abstain from that becauseyou already know there's no
reason to lead, so we'll.
I will say one of my opinionOkay, I hope, I really hope, and
I didn't want to but, I, hopeshower gate goes, because we
didn't even get to mention parttwo of this.
But part two might be myfavorite part of this after
(39:30):
shower gate.
So many people kept talkingabout it that the HOH himself
told her not to make a big dealout of it.
And she HOH himself told hernot to make a big deal out of it
.
And she must have knocked onthe door what 77 times, and
every time he'd be like I'll getyou, don't worry.
Don't worry.
(39:50):
I got to say I thought hehandled the nomination ceremony
pretty well, all thingsconsidered, because obviously
she was going to feel some typeof way about that.
But when she goes back andwatches it I think she'll
realize that yeah, maybe shestepped in that herself a little
too much.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Dude.
She nominated herself.
Like, with that constantknocking, it's the funniest
thing the way they show it.
Like boom, boom, boom, boom.
Oh wait, wait, excuse me.
Like boom, boom, boom, boom.
Oh wait, what, excuse me.
What?
What?
Uh, oh, can you come on?
I mean I would have nominatedher if I was best friends with
her.
Like, come on, like you have tohave some kind of there was
even.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
There was even a
moment where she had said
knocked, said okay, I'll comeback later, and then someone
else knocked and they filmed itlike it could be somebody else
but then it cut it was her again.
I gotta say I was laughingreally hard at that edit great
editing by big brother, absolutely, um, I will.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
I will say you know,
with the nominations, I'm
rooting for zay.
I like zay.
Um, I'm hoping he kind of movesfar.
He seems like an interestingcharacter too okay, so he won
the first one no, no, notnecessarily.
I'm kidding, I'm not giving anyLook at you Like no, I'm not
giving that away.
I learned last time we had thismoment last season.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
You lost the first
one.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
I'm not saying
anything, Anyway.
I'm boxing you and by the timethis episode goes out.
This podcast, the people willknow anyway.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
So that's true.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Tonight.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
He's good.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
I no, it's tomorrow,
isn't?
Speaker 2 (41:24):
it, it's tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Oh, it's tomorrow,
yeah all-star game I'm, so
that's right um say say zay I Isaw has a connection.
Uh, if you don't know, zay isfriends with sammy from survivor
43 yes, I remember, yeah, Iremember you telling me that.
Yeah, that's crazy I looked infurther, apparently zay and
sammy auditioned for the amazingrace together and and then they
(41:45):
chose sammy for survivor 43.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
And so that zay is
because I I follow a lot of
survivor people to take theother one for big brother, and
then we can put them together onamazing race yeah, exactly
that's how it works, like fullcircle.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
Um, now I follow a
lot of, like you, survivor
people and I saw sammy put up apost about zay and I was like,
wow, I'm like, oh, okay, they'reconnected, so I guess I'll root
for zay too.
Yeah, absolutely yeah.
So we're, that's our like, that's our last season for while
we could tolerate her and thenrooting for and the accomplice
(42:21):
who's up as well.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
It has made an
alliance with rachel, so for
that reason we might want to seeher stick around a little
longer.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
If you're rooting for
rachel absolutely, and which is
a, it's a, it's a beautifulalliance to have them together.
And you know, listen, that'sthe thing that kills me, bro,
like on these reality shows.
As a fan, I'll always notfanboy out and just want to get
rid of these people because Iknow how good of a player they
(42:48):
are.
For the majority of people, though, a lot of them are
reality fans.
To see like be playing withRachel, they get so starstruck
they don't see the threat thatshe is and they're going to keep
her in the game.
It's crazy.
Like you know, I love her todeath.
I love, love, love Ceri.
I'm a huge fan of Ceri, butthey kept Ceri in a long time in
season 25 of Big Brother, youknow, when she played, and I
(43:13):
think she's probably going to bethe most iconic survivor player
.
She's only a survivor playerright now, but the most iconic
survivor player to ever play, big brother.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
I'm sure we'll get
more in the future because
that's just the way thingshappen, but yeah, it's, it's
trending that way too and itseems to like, if you think
about it all, even some of theseother shows if you throw a
survivor player or big brotherplayer, someone that people like
you're gonna get more peoplejust to watch it.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
So absolutely,
absolutely, um.
Do we have anything else todiscuss?
There's also uh, we've we'vebriefly talked about the one
percent club oh, yes, uh, I willsay this real quick joel mccall
is fabulous, it's reallyfantastic oh my god, I know you
are, I know you are gonna leaninto that, no matter what, mr
(43:56):
anti-patent over there, I'm notanti, he, just I'm not.
I know I know, I know, I knowbut uh, I love joel is just so
freaking witty like I love joelmckale.
Well, ever since we're a littlebiased, you know I mean he did
make fun of my buddy shirt thatwas not picked out for me.
Speaker 2 (44:14):
You know what I feel
like is.
I feel like he taps into hisinner jeff winger when he goes.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
Yes, yes, yes, um,
and he has this constant almost
like I don't know.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
If you know, jimmy
kimmel has this thing with uh,
with uh, um, with matt, um, umdamon matt damon right, he has
this thing with with ken jong soyes, yes, that's good
comparison, except they, theylike each other more no, they
all like it no, jimmy and mattreally lean into hating each
(44:47):
other.
Yeah, they do.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
It's great, it's
great it's, it's awesome, but
yeah, I love, I love, I love, love, love, love and and
honestly, I think the questionseems to be a little better this
season, if that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
And speaking of
bringing other former people
from other shows, we had a bigbrother player play.
We had a whole episode of likefour farmers wants a wife, so
they're really leaning into thatstuff.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
Don't get me started
with that, I know.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
Fox bringing in Fox.
You see it, we see it.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
You can't do another
show on fox, okay, okay, all
right, unless you're a farmer,unless you're a farmer and want
a wife.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Um, but maybe they
didn't get a wife maybe, maybe.
The winning farmer who won hiswife is ineligible from 1%.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Club.
Spoiler alert they all goteliminated from 1% Club they did
not win.
No, they did not.
Um, I, I, I.
I'm enjoying the season betterand I'm not a patent hater, but
he should not be hosting gameshows.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
in my opinion, it's
hard and also each episode is
its own standalone, so itdoesn't really matter what order
you watch them in.
But I will say there've been acouple where I thought the 1%
question was far tougher thanother weeks.
There were one of the weeks was, I thought, super easy, super
easy, yeah.
But again it's a littledifferent playing under the
lights, as we know.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
Oh really.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Not for you.
You dominate.
Sometimes I don't who wants tobe a millionaire trivial pursuit

jung has a game show coming outcalled 99 to beat.
Uh, they just put a promo outtoday.
Speaker 2 (46:47):
Uh, another former
big brother player is the one
where they're all sprinting inthe middle for those balloons
and stuff.
That's on the preview.
Speaker 1 (46:53):
Yes, it actually
looks interesting.
Um, I can't, you know.
I first thing I see is that's100 contestants.
I'm thinking how we all would, kind of as a cast, we are family
.
Thinking of that it makes melaugh.
Um, but, uh, they're going fora million dollars, they're
giving away a million dollars.
That's wild.
(47:15):
And you have, uh, a former bigbrother player in the mix.
Um, fox is really leaning intowho is in that?
Um, um, the broadway guy Iforget his name tommy tommy.
Yes, tommy brocco is 99 to beat.
Um, it looks great.
(47:35):
And I know some casting peoplethat cast this show that I
follow and that I was involvedwith in other projects, and
they're awesome.
So I'm sure this cast will beincredible.
Um, yeah, it's, it's gonna,it's gonna be interesting to see
, for sure.
And logan casting collectiveshout out.
Or are the ones that kind ofcast for that show that same
(47:55):
ones that cast for?
We are Family and the FloorFloor wrapped up two more
seasons of filming this summer,so I'm looking forward to those
as well.
