Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Around the
Bases, a pop culture and sports
podcast with your host, charlieSeymour, and I'm Tim Sternberg.
Hit it, nick.
We are back.
(00:25):
Welcome back to another awesomeweek here on around the bases.
You're a pop culture and sportspodcast.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
How you doing charlie
, I'm doing pretty good, but
probably not as good as you whywould I be doing?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
all right, I'm okay.
You know you got a fancy newhat there.
I wonder why you're wearingthat fancy new hat because you
know it's how many days untilpitchers and catchers report.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
We're right around.
The Cubs are like two days, three days.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Let's go.
Yeah.
Cubs are the first team youknow respect that reports a
spring training.
I saw there was like a diagramthat showed when the teams
report and the Cubs are like twodays early or something.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, well, when they
have two regular season games,
like two weeks before everybodyelse, that's why yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
So for those who
might not know, I mean I'm sure
our audience knows, but the Cubsare playing their first games
of the season against theDodgers in.
Tokyo.
Yeah, yeah, so pretty cool.
Charlie is going.
He has this past.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
No, no is going, he
has his passport.
No, no, just kidding.
Those were very, very hard toget.
Hard sought after tickets.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
People are still
complaining in the cub season
ticket group.
So really, yeah, I'm surethat's a whole podcast in itself
.
Um, yeah, I'm, I'm excited.
I you know, maybe yesterday wesigned a certain player that I
was hoping that we would signthroughout the soft season?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Is it the guy that
you posted everything of his for
sale?
Is it that guy Shut?
Speaker 1 (01:55):
up.
I didn't do that.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Oh, I'm such a
troublemaker.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Wow, bro, wow.
Why are you doing that?
Why are you doing that?
Did you not?
Why did you, did you not?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
I did not.
You posted a picture of all ofit saying I sent it to you.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Wait, wait.
I sent it to you and I said ifhe, if he, doesn't resign,
there's stuff that's gonna be upfor sale.
Posted it on your story.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
No I didn't be up for
sale, posted it on your story.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
No, I didn't say it
for sale, though.
I said he has to come back.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, that's true,
but you alluded that it could be
soon, damn.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
You're like an
elephant.
Uh, just Charlie never forgetsanything.
Wow, but yeah, I did.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
The long story short.
You got Pete.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Very long story,
don't have to worry no, pete
alonzo re-signing with the newyork mets on a two-year kind of
one-year deal, one year with optout, one year uh, 30 million
dollars is a 10 million dollarsigning bonus.
That's involved.
Um, listen, I don't think atthe end of the day the mets kind
of got what they want fully.
(03:02):
Pete didn't get what he wantsfully.
I think it was a compromise.
Yeah, and listen, you know whatI'm not upset.
You know people I was watching, you know New York Sports Radio
and stuff.
You know most of the reactionis very positive.
Mets fans want Pete back.
But you know the thought waswell, you know it's only a
(03:22):
one-year deal.
You know mean, let's, let's putit this way, it was never going
to be a long-term deal.
After the way the negotiationshave gone and honestly, on a one
year deal, it's a win-winsituation.
It's a win for the mets becauseif pete has another kind of
down year, then listen, theyonly signed him for one year.
That flad guerrero jr from theblue jays out as a free agent
(03:43):
next year, they could kind ofpivot maybe, If he has two down
of a year though, he might optin in that scenario.
Correct.
But they still have Vlad.
They could still use him as aDH and still sign him.
Then they only have him for onemore year.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Right, two years at
the most, so it's a great upside
.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Exactly.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Pete can have a
career year, go back to the
market.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
This is where I was
going to go.
Yeah, exactly what you'resaying.
Listen and you know what.
Again, that's a win for theMets too, because if Pete has a
banner year we just signed JuanSoto Pray everybody stays
healthy.
This Mets team could have afreaking year.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
And I still think
they're going to have a freaking
year If Pete has like a 2019Pete season with Soto and with
Lindor and with Nemo and withVientos.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
And that's the thing.
Depth, like this team's depth, like so, if you, you, we know
who's at the high end right, youknow, lindor.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
We know who's at the
high end, right, you know,
lindor, neymar Alonso.
Yeah, you have five or six guysthat will be in the lineup
daily, and then you have likeanother six or seven to play the
other three, four spots.
That's what's nice.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
You have Winker, nick
Madrigal, you have, I mean you
could throw Acuna.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Mauricio Beatty.
I mean, I might.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Siri.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
McNeil, siri Beatty.
I mean I might Neal Siri likeyeah, not to mention Alvarez
could have 20 plus homers for acatcher.
I mean man.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Well, you know and
that's the thing people forget
about Francisco Alvarez.
But Francisco Alvarez raked Inthe minors like raked.
He Is fully capable of hittingthose home Runs.
He can be a power Hitter if heputs his mind to it.
Alonzo, although catchers it'sharder for catchers to hit, I
(05:32):
know, and let's not forget theback end of the bullpen.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
You got Edwin Diaz
and then with some additions
like Minter and Stanek I meanthey've got some depth out there
too, wow.
He knows what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
He does, I'm kidding.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, he does.
He's got to be pretty happywith the offseason.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Baby diapers yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
They're for now being
retired.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
They're clean the.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Mets start the season
0-1 or 1-2.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
We'll have to check
back in.
You remember last year, woo,and one or one and two.
Oh, check back in.
You remember last year, woo?
We're going to be sitting here.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Uh, early April
podcast Mets are going to be
like two and four and I'm goingto have to have the same
conversation with Tim.
It's 162 games.
Take a breath.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
So let's shift the
spotlight.
Kyle Tucker Ooh Cubs are goingto have a year or two.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, to spotlight
kyle tucker cubs are gonna have
a year or two.
Yeah, they've made some.
They've made a couple moremoves since and rumors are
heating up on bregman.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
It could be a real
interesting I, you know,
interesting now that the metsare kind of settled with alonzo,
mets are not in the bregman mix.
So we have vientos and we have,we're done.
Um, I, that would beinteresting to me.
That would be.
I I am praying and hoping.
I think the cubs would be aperfect spot, although I'm
(06:50):
hearing tigers too, possibly asa landing spot for bregman the
last couple days.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
The rumors seem to be
he doesn't really have as much
interest in detroit and torontowhich then would leave cubs,
houston, red Sox, boston hasbeen picking up trade rumors
with St Louis for Arenado, sothat would leave the Cubs and
the Astros, and apparently theAstros have upped their offer
slightly but they stillthemselves feel it's a long shot
(07:17):
he returns.
So at this point it seems likeBoris is just playing chicken
with the Cubs, like he's donethe last couple off-seasons.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Now that he's
unloaded Alonzo, he can kind of
pivot to Bregman.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Pretty much Bregman's
the last big, big, big name out
there.
There's still some other prettygood agents out there, but
Bregman's probably the crownjewel of what's left.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I mean, there's no
city like Chicago.
I'll say that.
I want to say that to prefacewhat I'm about to say.
Because I say that I want tosay that to preface what I'm
about to say because I'm notcomparing the two at all, but
market wise, houston and chicagoare pretty comparable markets
for baseball, I think, and and Ithink it would be a pretty
smooth transition for alex alexbregman to go.
Yeah, it's not like he's comingfrom a marlin situation where
(08:00):
there's no fans and everythingdude let me just say let me say
something real quick about thatand then we'll go back to the
cubs real quick.
But the marlins released theirfan fest schedule.
I think the fan fest is thisweekend and they have no no, no,
absolutely not they.
There's no delin.
This is what I wanted to say, though.
(08:21):
There's no delineation ofevents, it's just like, uh,
we're gonna just kind of hangout here this time.
I'm like I responded, theMarlins have to up their game in
fan experience.
The fan experience when youhave a team that sucks.
The fan experience is what getspeople to the ballpark.
You want to draw people in, andwhat I mean by fan experience?
(08:44):
I mean trivia during innings, Imean getting people out and
blowing t-shirts in a t-shirtgun and doing a mound ball right
, what you guys have in Chicago.
But that's all part of the fanexperience.
And, for whatever reason andI've given the Marlins so many
chances their food is excellent.
The food at the park isexcellent not as good as chicago
(09:05):
or new york, I'll say that butthe fan experience boring and
sucks, like they maybe have onelike you know, like that.
You know, I think every parkdoes this where they have like
the ball under the cup and youhave to kind of guess on the
jumbotron where the ball is andstuff like that.
But beyond that, the fanexperience is awful.
I'm sorry to get on a tangent, but no, that's all right, look,
(09:29):
the rays are having their fanfest on the 15th at at st pete
pier, because obviously theycan't do it at tropicana field
and and and they they're doingfishing charter thing going on.
There's like a whole bunch ofevents that they're doing that
are very fan interactive.
And then, listen, you want totalk about comparable markets.
Tampa Bay and Miami are verycomparable markets.
(09:49):
I mean the attendance is kindof bad at both.
I mean Tampa Bay Rays havestruggled with attendance also
with the Marlins, but the thingwith the Tampa Bay Rays is they
never forget was their numberone and that's the fans.
They never forget that.
So Miami has a lot to learn.
But Chicago, there's no likewhen I went to Wrigley with you
(10:13):
this summer, last summer.
There's nothing beating thatexperience at Wrigley.
Even you guys outshined theMets in that department in my
opinion.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
The experience at
Wrigley.
They've done a lot better withit since the new ownership took
over yeah, it wasn't nearly asgood before I love that.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Call me corny, right,
I love that stuff.
You know, going back to youguys with harry carey and doing
the song and the whole it.
It's just there's somethingabout that experience.
As much as I hate the phillies, the phillies are also very good
with the fan experience.
You know, even atl Atlanta, Imean, it wasn't as good, but
Atlanta had a nice fanexperience also.
I don't know, I just think theMarlins need to kind of pick it
(10:54):
up, but I'm really excited aboutwhat Chicago has in store.
I I think the other teams inthe NL central need to kind of
open their eyes a little bit and, and you know, I think they're
going to get the rumors to runfor their money for a change,
which is nice.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Um, the rumors need
to run for their money, um, but
yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm feelingpretty good yeah, and then the
other team that's in that I thatI like that's in your area the
rays speaking of, they had a fewof their uh promotions pop out
today.
I don't know?
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Oh, they did.
I don't even know, yet you haveto tell me.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
They have a few.
They have some interesting ones, but the ones obviously you
know that I'm a little lenienttowards, we'll say, or lean
towards, bobbleheads.
Bobbleheads, they have a JuniorCommon Arrow one.
So three of them areSteinbrenner uh field bobblehead
series.
So I think they like connectlike that by base.
(11:51):
So those are junior common, wait, wait wait, wait, wait.
The bobbleheads, the basesconnect to each other yes, so
you get them at different timesand it's like they turn into a
longer one.
They've done.
They've had some of those inpast seasons as well, but this
one, I might have to go to Tampa.
Yeah, so this one has.
Those ones are junior commonarrow.
(12:11):
They're number one prospect inbaseball.
Shane Boz, okay, and they haveTodd's Bradley.
And then they also have a cityconnect bobblehead for Josh Lowe
later in the season as well.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Oh, I love Josh Lowe.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
There's also a
football jersey, they've got
sunglasses, they've got aMcClanahan player pin, they've
got a cooling towel and somemagnet schedules like the
opening weekend, like theyusually do.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
They're going to need
that cooling towel out in the
hot sun at Steinbrenner Field.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
That one's June 8th,
so probably when it gets pretty
hot there.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Yeah, when does it
really warm up?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
in Tampa area.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Like May June, may
June.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
May.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
June, july and August
.
I will say June isn't that bad.
I mean it's listen, you'reasking a Floridian who's been
living here since 1991, but Imean June is it gets hot.
It's hot but it's not.
You know, for me scorching hotis like August, like late July.
August is like that's when Iwon't go like to Epcot or, you
(13:17):
know, Disney World and stuffbecause it's too hot.
But you know, you alleviatethat by, you know, by going in
shade.
You don't stay out in the sunthe whole game.
You kind of move around.
I don't know how it's going tobe at Steinbrenner Field,
tropicana Field.
It was domed so it didn't havethat issue, but not currently
(13:38):
domed.
But yeah, wow, are you planninga trip?
I don't know, I would love'mjust you know, I would love that
, you know, I would love thatkeep an eye out for those dates
that could work out whateverdate you choose, I'm 100 gonna
be there, unless I'm on somegame show or something.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
But which tends to
happen with us.
I don't know.
There you go you might not wantto say the date out loud or I
do that take one for the teamand then you're on another game
show no, for those who don'tknow, I I originally planned to
go to chicago last year in juneand uh, that's when trivial
pursuit takes.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
It's so funny, oh man
, uh, but yeah, uh.
So yeah, we started withbaseball.
I want to, you know, alleviateour audience.
We are going to get into otherstuff, but you know, I the pino
lonzo news, I kind of going toget into other stuff, but the
Pete Alonzo news, I kind of hadto jump into it.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, we had to lead
off first base with Alonzo.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
And just real quick,
a sports little tidbit.
And it's not just a tidbit, butJosh Allen won MVP today.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Congratulations to
Josh Allen, the quarterback of
the Buffalo Bills and a prettynoteworthy win because he's the
first player in 21 years to winmvp without being named first
team all pro which went to lamar.
So usually that award is is apredecessor to the second one,
um, but they gave it to alan.
(14:58):
Honestly, I think it's more ofa alan that didn't have one yet.
They've had a lot of closebattles so they kind of gave it
to him this time.
But that's pretty cool that thefirst time that's happened in
21 seasons.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
That's awesome.
Did you watch his acceptancespeech?
It was unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I saw clips of it
yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
So he, of course.
You know Josh Allen's all aboutteam.
He thanks his teammates and youknow it's not an individual.
Even if it's not a individual,even it's mvb, it's not an
individual award.
What got me and I started kindof getting teary-eyed is he
thanks his parents and his dadand mom are like bawling in the
audience and I'm like, wow, because he talked about, you
know, growing up as a kid andand going to um, what's that
(15:40):
thing they do at the footballfor kids.
I forget what fun passing kickcompetition.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
No it kids.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I forget what it's
called Fun Pass and Kick
competition.
No, it's like it's anorganization Like it's like mine
, it's like Little League, butfor football.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
But he mentioned that PopWarner.
He mentioned Pop Warner and hejust mentioned, you know, all
that times you wasted your timegoing and taking me and his
parents.
They focused the camera to theparents, dad, mom.
(16:06):
You know, and that's what it'sabout, you know, I, honestly, at
the end of the day, I mean we,I mean, with everything going on
in the world, it's that humanconnection, right, that we are
human beings and and you know, that's what it's about, um, just
and a real.
We do before our next broadcast, the super bowl is happening
this weekend, which I alreadytold you.
Baby Diapers is not watching, but Fly Eagles, fly my buddy.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
AJ, how will you
watch it for the commercials?
Speaker 1 (16:31):
No, I don't want to
give them ratings.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
They're going to get
them, no matter what.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Might as well see all
the new commercials.
I just don't like everybody inthe audience, that's all.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Alright, never mind,
yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
We won't get into
anything else with that.
But, yeah, superbowl thisweekend.
And uh, yeah, go, philly, go.
That's the only time you'llever hear this mets fan say it.
But go philadelphia.
Uh, fly eagles, fly.
And um, I don't care if, Idon't care if patrick mahomes is
a met fan, I don't care if hisdad was a met spitzer, I don't
care.
(17:08):
All right, that is first base.
Um, we're gonna round to secondbase and uh, I consider this
episode a clear winner today.
The traders oh my god, where dowe begin with the traitors, bro?
Well, I guess we begin with themurder.
I was shocked, honestly, because in the turret, you know
(17:35):
the show episode starts.
We're back in a turret with, uh, danielle, rob and um, uh, uh,
carolyn, uh and uh, they're kindof going back and forth at it
and Rob starts controlling thenarrative again.
He's like I want Derek out andDanielle's like no, I'm friends
(17:56):
and Danielle does have.
I've said this on this podcastbefore.
They have a Big Brother podcastthat Derek and Cody host and
Danielle's been on it so muchand they're friends in real life
and and so she has these realdoesn't want to kind of do that
and um, she says, no, I don'twant Derek and, and they cut
away and, you know, fast forward.
(18:18):
They haven't decided anybody, they didn't even go through the
whole.
We're signing our names.
And that gets me to a questionto answer later what happens if
they don't choose someone tomurder?
Um?
So anyway, they fast forward tobreakfast and then, of course,
the groups start coming in, andthe last group to come in are
the two that they were.
Again, if you ever get on thetraders, you have to pay
(18:40):
attention to this.
The last group is boston.
Rob comes in first, followed byum dylan, dylan, afron and
derrick is nowhere to be found.
They murder derrick from bigbrother and, honestly, as big of
a big brother fan I am, thatwas the move.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
I didn't see another
move I mean, that was really his
only avenue really.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
And so then rob goes,
continues, it begins to go on
as a really horrible acting.
They're trying to frame I can'tdo his accent, that boston rob,
but they're trying to frame me,you know.
He says, oh, they're trying toframe me, you know, uh, of
course they're gonna vote outthe guy I would have assumed to
be, and no one is.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
It was a good sales
pitch.
Why would I kill Derek?
You're only going to think it'sme.
It doesn't help me at all.
And it seemed like a couplepeople bought it.
But even had the two othertraders, danielle and Carolyn,
not flipped, it still would havebeen five to four and he was
going home either way.
So I think at that point youknow he realizes it is what it
(19:44):
is yeah, what's um?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
danielle does end up
flipping and she's like but she
says a preface which I think wassmart are we good if I, if I
give up, derrick are?
Are we gonna start over andstart fresh?
And they both say yes.
But you know, carolyn isdoesn't forget anything and
she's holding her grudge and notnecessarily forgetting, but
that's besides yeah, it's pretty, uh, it's pretty fractured
(20:09):
between the three of them forthe last couple weeks.
So yeah, uh, fast forward tothe challenge.
Hey, uh, charlie, did you watchthe challenge?
Speaker 2 (20:18):
I watched it, I would
not have participated with your
face, with your face actually Iwill say it's probably the
first time I've said it on hereI would definitely team Chris
shell in this instance.
I would have pulled my handback immediately and said no,
thank you.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
So for our viewers
cause I'll explain.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
So you don't have to
get the creepy creepy, go right
ahead.
Go sit back here and relax fora few.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
They're holding their
hands in a box and Charlie is
literally relaxing in the back.
They're holding the hands in abox and charlie is literally
relaxing in the back.
Uh, they're holding the handsin the box and the object of the
game is not to let go.
If they let go, they're out andthe other team wins.
So as they're holding theirhands in the box, alan's people
(21:05):
start to put creepy crawliesinto the box and they start a
new present delivered.
My wife Erica is off screenright now.
Going stop it, stop it.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
She also was Team
Chrishell.
Yes, yeah, that's a smart wayto go.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
So the first creature
they put in are millipedes Nice
black, long millipedes Don'tthrow anything at me, Erica.
She's like getting ready tothrow the remote at me.
Don't do that, please.
Violence is never an answer.
And then there are other creepycrawlies.
I won't get too much into it.
(21:45):
There are maggots, there areworms and there are things that
are dropped from above and chrisshell team for shell gets like
no, I'm out, that's it I'm notdoing this, make it to that.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Didn't even make it.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
She's like no, it was
gone in under eight, like eight
seconds, something like that sothen, alan turns to the other
team, which is rob, and who wasthe other thing sierra sierra,
and he says he says that, um, ifyou can wait it lasts like four
minutes because I want to getgood TV Then we're going to.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
you know, you'll,
we'll add this money to the pot.
Whole eight minutes Don't soundshort.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Yeah, all right,
eight minutes, sorry.
So throughout the challenge, you know they're holding hands,
holding hands, and they're,they're, and they put big giant
boa constrictors on their backsand other stuff.
I think there were Madagascarhissing cockroaches, scorpions,
scorpions All the fun stuff, allthe stuff that you want at a
(22:44):
party.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
I gotta say I thought
Rob was really good in that
challenge with helping Sierraget through it.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
He was I mean, he
played it smart and he was
actually.
I think he was truly being kind, but at the same, time and
ulterior motive, it earned himher vote.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
If the traders
wouldn't have flipped and he
would have just got one more, hewould have survived, yep.
A lot of ifs, but still.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
Lots and lots of ifs,
and we're going to talk about
the roundtable in a minute.
Basically, everyone lasts, Imean, except for Team Frischel.
Everybody lasts through thechallenge.
I think the strongest teamduring the challenge was
Danielle and Brittany from BigBrother.
I mean they really didn't panic, weren't?
Of course it's the editing too,so they're all tied.
(23:29):
They all got like money andadded it to the pot.
So then they tiebreaker waswithin the bugs in the box.
It's a mound of bugs.
There was rings that were putin there and they had to find a
ring, and the first team to finda ring in each pair of teams
would get um immunity, a shieldfrom the murder.
(23:50):
They couldn't be, murdered.
They couldn't be murdered.
So I know it was Carolyn andGabby, right versus Danielle and
Brittany.
Danielle and Brittany find aring.
There was Tom, and that was aninteresting pairing, Tom.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Lord.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Lord, lord Vonton, or
whatever his name is, ivan, and
they were a team.
And dylan.
So anyway, it ends up thatdylan is not safe.
Um, uh, tom is not safe.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Uh, I forget who else
is not yeah, the carolyn right,
of course, carolyn is a traitorand dolores so they.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
So carolyn can't be
murdered, right, and we're going
to talk about what happens.
It's really only because it'sthe end of the episode, so it's
really only five.
Um, so, anyway, the next thingis the round table.
And oh so, the two targets inthe round table and you could
tell from the beginning of theepisode editing are Brittany and
Boston Rob with Tom.
I don't know, tom is just nevernot going to get a vote from
(25:00):
the ladies at least this time.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Chrishell said she
really didn't think either of
them were, so she had to votefor someone else there were
several people threw away theirvotes.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Dylan threw away his
vote um because he wouldn't I
want to touch on dylan reallyquick.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
He started off the
round table speaking first he
did what he said he wasn't goingto do earlier in the episode in
like a confessional shot.
He said he was only going tosay that Derek called out
Brittany and he kept the rest ofit to himself the whole time.
But then at the round table hesays the first thing he says is
(25:39):
Derek says it was either Rob orBrittany.
My question is had Dylan notoriginally thrown out Rob again?
There would maybe one or twopeople that weren't so sure
maybe not have flipped that's agood question.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
I was thinking that
too, but I think it was the
honorable thing for him to do.
I mean, you want to.
I mean it was also honoringderrick's what derrick said,
because he kind of wanted allout there.
I'm glad he did that because Ididn't want to see britney
banished.
Honestly.
Um, I I think rob was.
I mean, we'll get to who getsbanished, but I I think it was a
(26:17):
smart move.
I could tell you this, though, one thing I was thinking
throughout this whole banishmentceremony danielle, you better
vote rob, danielle, you bettervote rob.
If you do not vote rob, itlooks really dumb and she's been
playing a dumb game.
I know she's my girl, I likedanielle very much, but my god,
if you put britney's name down, what the hell?
And I was worried about thatwhen she, when she turned over
(26:40):
her clacker and then said rob, Iwas like of course they went to
commercial before she did thatyeah, and she turned it over
upside down yes, she did.
You are the weakest link.
Goodbye.
Okay, not that that's anothershow, but so the votes kind of
come in and a couple of votesfor Britney, but overall it's
(27:01):
Rob, rob, rob, rob.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
And Austin.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Rob, he sings his
last tune.
I mean, if you're sitting thereand you don't know what you
know, but I would vote for Rob,I mean yeah.
I mean, I would have assumedanyway that one rejoiced.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
They finally listened
to him.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Yeah, I love this.
So there's, for those who mightnot know, there's a bunch of
memes out there with Tom like um.
There, with Tom like um, thisis Tom making decisions on the
traders and, and you know, foronce he actually looks smart.
But he doesn't always looksmart, um, I mean, I, I would, I
would, I would preface it tosay it was probably the duh move
.
Of course you're gonna get ridof Boston Rob at this point, but
(27:42):
let him get, take his credit, let, let, let let Tom uh, get
his, his, his flowers, orwhatever you want to call it,
and that's fine, but boston robis gone.
We're down to two traitors.
We're down to the two women whodon't like each other, danielle
and carolyn.
It should be interesting alsorob.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Rob may have, without
realizing it, given a little
parting gift to danielle andcarolyn.
I don't know if you caught this, but earlier in the episode he
mentioned out loud in aconversation with like four or
five people in like the libraryroom.
He said out loud he thinksthere's only two traders left.
If people retain that and thenRob got out, they'll think well,
(28:25):
rob knew there were only twoleft, rob plus one other, so
they might only get one of theremaining one left, which
whoever's left could be the lastone standing.
They might think they've caughtall the traitors.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
So let me ask you a
question.
That's a good point and Idefinitely think we should watch
for that.
But to that point I think arecruitment's coming.
Usually when they get down totwo, they recruit somebody.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
It could be this yeah
, after the, so now Rob's down
to 11, then they murder someonein person cuts it down to 10.
At that point, instead of maybeafter round table, nine,
instead of murdering, they havethe option to.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
So I'm going to turn
a question to you.
I kind of have my guess in myhead.
If you're one of the twotraders, who are you recruiting?
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Ooh, yeah, that's
tough.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
I already have an
answer.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
You do or don't.
Okay, I would probably recruitsomeone who's been completely
under the radar and I'd probablythere's probably two that come
to mind man, maybe three.
I think tom is a weird wildcard.
Everybody's so sure he's afaithful.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Now he is getting
some votes, but he's just too
wacky, him and carolyn togetherbut let's the two people that
have voted for him.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
If they don't make it
to the next one, there's really
not that many people that wouldvote for him.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
I get, except for the
delores wild card.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
She's kind of like
you forget she's even there.
And also, weirdly, I think samcould be an interesting one
because he's so weird, that kindof like carolyn, where she's
going unnoticed, I don't know.
Those are three that come to mymind.
Who do you think?
Speaker 1 (30:12):
None of those,
believe it or not, the one that
I would.
I would absolutely recruitDylan.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Dylan.
I would recruit Dylan because Ithink Dylan is smart enough to
figure it out and you kind ofwant that on your side.
So that if he's not murderedfor sure you know, and it's kind
of Dylan I've said this before, but Dylan and there was
actually a I don't know ifPeacock listens to our podcast,
but they actually did a video ofthis.
Dylan reminds me of Peter Weberfrom last season.
(30:43):
And so there was a.
There was a tick, tock orsomething that Peacock put out
this week.
That has Dylan in a chair andPeter Weber in a chair and
they're looking at each other.
It's the funniest thing and I'mlike that's funny.
Wait, are they listening toaround the bases what's
happening here?
Speaker 2 (30:56):
um, but remember,
they tried to recruit Peter last
season and he turned it downand then he turned it down.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
I don't think Dylan
would turn it down.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I don't think he
would no yeah, why would you
want to go home at that point, right?
Speaker 1 (31:09):
So that's why I love
the show for a number of reasons
, but it's so many layers thatit's good.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Good TV, appointment
TV.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Yes, and so, speaking
of appointment TV, we end in a
cliffhanger.
So let me set it up real quick.
There is a live murder that'sgoing to happen at the beginning
of the episode.
They're in a church, of course, and there's red draped all over
the place who do you think'sgetting murdered?
Speaker 2 (31:38):
uh, I think tom it
could have been tom.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
They did kind of
tease that did you see tom's
face when he turned around, whenhe lifted his head?
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Yeah, Was that an
oversell though?
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Maybe they like to
throw those play actions.
So what?
Here's what I think happens.
So you know, obviously the onesthat survive are not going to
see Danielle and Carolyn.
I think what happens is the onethat gets murdered we'll see
Danielle and Carolyn, but theones that don't get murdered,
alan's going to be there sayingyou're safe and you can go back.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
There's going to be
somebody there regardless.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
I think so, yeah, I
think you're right about that.
It doesn't make sense any otherway.
It has to be either Alan or,and so I think I don't know, I
think it's going to be one ofthe dudes.
I think it's going to be eithertom or dylan.
Um, I, I don't think the theother, I don't think the others
are much of a threat.
I don't think people arethinking they're traitors.
Yeah, I don't know.
(32:38):
I don't know um should beinteresting, so they basically
they're in a church and theyturn around and whoever sees the
traitors are going to bemurdered, and that that you
don't even have to get me towatch the show, but that that's
a great start to next week'sepisode.
Yeah, um, none of the none ofthe none of the scenes from next
week.
It was all alan talking, because I guess they would give
(32:58):
away who was murdered because, right, I think they try hard to
not give it away.
They did a good job they did agood job, uh, so that's.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
That's the traders
next week appointment tv, which
also more Appointment TV.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Go for it, these
games.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
We're down to six
people.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
So I'm going to say
this again.
I've said this before on thispodcast this is a social
experiment on the nastiness ofpeople.
Sometimes I will say, um, thereare certain people on that cast
, or they were on that cast andno longer on that cast, that I
(33:46):
just don't root for.
I don't want to root for them.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Yeah, now, jc, I
think most of the six that I
would say at least five that Iwanted to get through, got
through a hundred percent yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Except for that.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
Pretty.
We were pretty sure the two whokind of screwed everyone over
were going we're not going toget through.
And they didn't.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
No, liar dude, I
didn't going to get through and
they didn't.
No, liar dude, I didn't want toget through, he got through.
I don't even know his name, butyou know who I'm talking about.
The one who lied, um gauge, yeah, you're better with names
than I am.
Um, so who's?
I'm sorry to our audience inadvance because I do not.
I just watch the show.
I don't kind of remember who.
Who's neck tattoo dude?
Michael, maybe?
(34:33):
All right, let's say forargument's sake, it's Michael.
We'll just call him Michael forthis.
It's neck tattoo dude, I don'twant to say neck tattoo dude, he
.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
No, keep going.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
No, I was just going
to say he was throughout the
episode asking people for moneyand they'll get his vote so in
one vote.
So there's so, just for ouraudience, who may not have
watched the episode, there aresix votes.
That happens.
The first vote is an hour, sothey have an hour to decide
who's going to go to the finals, and each vote is 10 minutes
(35:07):
shorter, so the second vote is50 minutes.
Third vote is 10 minutesshorter, so the second vote is
50 minutes.
Third vote is 40 minutes andthey're allowed to call each
other that is michael, by theway, michael okay, michael
robert house there we go.
Three names um.
They're allowed to use their um, their money, to bribe other
players.
Of course, we have one playerthat doesn't have any money, um,
and so michael robert housespent many around calling people
(35:33):
and saying, if you give me xamount of money, I'll I'll vote
for you.
That's okay.
It's within the rules.
The only problem is also withinthe rules.
On multiple occasions duringone vote he called multiple
people to get money frommultiple people to he knew he
was out.
He was just trying to stack hismoney dude, I know it's a game,
(35:57):
I know it's just a game show,it's just a reality show.
But there are some lines thatare just icky when you cross
them icky, icky, icky, icky.
And I understand it was withinthe rules that you could lie,
but really, when someone onlyhas seven thousand dollars or
whatever it is, you're takingall that money to get their vote
(36:19):
and, mind you, they're allgrown adults and they're making
the decision to give it up.
But you feel good with that.
You were able to sleep at theend of the day.
I don't know if I could, man.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Yeah, I don't know.
That's why I was super happyCourtney got through.
Yeah, me too.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
But at the end of the
day, bro, like what, like I
just don't know if I couldconsciously be okay with that,
and so that's what's interestingto me is how people are able.
I understand Listen, I wouldhave taken a hundred grand from
my family if I was the firstperson.
Without a doubt, I understandthose decisions.
(36:54):
What I don't understand is whenyou know that you're in a place
of power and then you takeadvantage of those who aren't.
It's just, it's kind of raw forme, I don't know how else to
put it, you know, and it doesn'tsit well.
Doesn't sit well now, mind you,you know I hopefully, if I ever
(37:15):
have the wonderful chance ofgetting on a reality show, I'm
probably going to make somequestionable decisions.
I think every player has to,but not to the point where
you're sacrificing who you areintegrity I don't know, you know
what I mean.
Like I just have to live withmyself and I don't know if I
want that the money comes andgoes.
(37:37):
But that that listen.
I can pull up my episode from2001 when I was on who wants to
be a millionaire?
That doesn't go away, it'sgoing to be in the universe
forever.
Once you're on a show, we'llsee.
We'll see charlie talking aboutbill Bill Murray for the rest
of our lives on video it's nevergoing away.
It's just you know that you haveto think about that is like you
know, one day maybe it sits inthe Library of Congress as a
(37:59):
video that's part of Americanpop culture.
You can't get away from it.
I don't know.
That matters to me, it mattersto me.
So, yeah, I I love Beast Games.
I think Mr Beast is incrediblytalented.
I his own videos that we talkedabout last week, you know, with
our awesome Erica who ended upwinning over $400,000, his
(38:21):
videos are.
There's no surprise why he hasso many YouTube viewers, why his
audience is so huge.
He's talented.
He comes up with these reallyinteresting, ingenious um, uh,
you know activities on video formoney and I absolutely believe
one million percent that beastgames will be back for season
(38:42):
two.
I have absolutely, no doubt yeah, um, as a matter of fact.
So, speaking of Beast Games atthe end of the episode with the
final six, wow, they have to dosomething and I want to get your
opinion on this?
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Another twist, big
twist.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
So he goes all this
episode.
I've been talking about this $5million cash prize, $5 million.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Which would be a
record.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Record.
So he goes, bring it in boys, they bring in another five
million dollars.
Here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
If one of the catch.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Here's a catch if one
of the six there's a beast
games coin, if one of the sixagree with $5 million on it, if
one of the six agrees to flipthe coin, and they get what they
land.
You know, call heads or tails, and they get what they want.
Mr Beast is going to add $5million, for a total of $10
(39:42):
million to the top prize.
However, wait, there's more.
If you do not, if you say headsand it's tails, bye, bye, you
are eliminated.
Now, charlie, we're talkingabout integrity here.
I'm sorry, I wouldn't do that.
(40:03):
I would not self-sacrificemyself potentially.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Four of the six are
immediately against it.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
Dude, you're a one in
five chance.
I mean, mind you, I'll takethese odds in Vegas any day,
don't get me wrong, but you havea one in six chance, not a one
in one.
One in six chance to win $5million.
$5 million is $2.5 millionafter taxes approximately, if
you take half away.
Okay, I'm kind of beinggenerous, Maybe round up we'll
(40:33):
say $2.75, $2.8.
$2.75, all right, but about that?
Unless you're Richard Hatch andyou don't do anything, Mm-mm.
Richard Hatch, go to jail.
So $2.75, $2.8 million aftertaxes.
Dude, my life has changed.
For the rest of my life I caninvest, I can get a decent house
(40:56):
and live comfortably, buy mybaseball cards, sell my baseball
cards, not to mention it'ssmall change, but a few of them
already have some money banked.
Yeah, dude, honestly this talksa little bit about my financial
situation, but a hundredthousand dollars is
life-changing to me and a lot ofother people like I can't yeah,
(41:17):
I mean fifty thousand, tenthousand, you know, I mean I was
, I could have won twentythousand on trivial pursuit.
That would have beenlife-changing in a way.
I mean it's just, you know,it's all about how you use it
and you know, whatever.
Anyway, it's not.
You're the math guy, you know Isay this all the time.
(41:37):
But is it worth the extra $5million to flip a coin and
potentially eliminate yourself?
Speaker 2 (41:43):
No, the four people
who immediately go out are the
real winners there, because, ifyou think about it, as soon as
one person picks it, the otherfive have.
Two scenarios happen.
Either A, they're now doublingtheir prize pot Win-win, win-win
.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
I was thinking that
too.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
And if not, their
chances to win the game go up by
three and a half percent.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Yeah.
Dude, that's exactly right yeah, they go from 16.6, repeating
to 20, so they get 3.3 andchange boost a freaking win-win
situation for everybody else, which is what I thought, I
thought uh, uh, 830, who alreadyhas 90 g's in her pocket.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
She was kind of
intimidating the other guy into
playing, I think she did andyeah, and he felt it and he's
like I'm gonna do it listen, youdon't have to, but I could feel
the power and the coin and shewas like going through the whole
thing here's.
Here's the way I think theyshould have played it, which I
mean I like the kind of the wayit works, but this is the way I
(42:47):
thought they would play it.
One person will have a chanceto flip the coin if you get it
on your what you call it, yourprize pot for you, if you win
doubles to 10 million dollars, everyone else stays at 5 million
or you go home.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
That makes more sense
on this scenario, but like you
said with the game people bemore inclined to like reg it to
someone who's not going to getfive or 10.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
That's a problem with
the rules and that's probably
why they didn't do it that way.
Yeah, but interesting,interesting.
Um, so we have the beginning ofthe next episode, a coin flip
happening, and either they'replaying for $5 million or $10
million.
Listen, as a viewer, at the endof the day it doesn't make a
huge difference for me, but Imean.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Hey, it sets
precedent for future seasons, in
case you get on later.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Absolutely.
Five of them are going homewith nothing, although you know
we talked about this.
Five of them are going homewith nothing.
Although you know we talkedabout this, I would have been
out the first episode because ifyou offer me like a share of a
million dollars to drop, I'mgoing.
See, I would have gotten like$19,000.
Again, would have been veryhappy with that and not upset at
all.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Because you a
thousand players and whatever,
but you know, wow.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
I just I wonder if
any of the people that played in
the minigame that erica wonyeah, or any of the people that
took the 19?
Speaker 1 (44:17):
I would have to.
That's an interesting questionprobably not, but because it's
all.
It's all from that same day ifyou look at the minigame that
erica played.
By the way, they have a previewof this episode because they're
calling each other trying toconvince them.
That's what they do in this, because they didn't do it before
this episode.
So that's interesting, littlelike tidbit right, um, ah, wow,
(44:41):
it's good, it's a good show.
I mean, I will say I, I, wewere texting next week I.
I like the earlier episodes withmore people was a little more
engaging for me.
But yeah, it's good, it's, it'snot bad and finale should be
awesome.
Yeah and yeah, we're gonna seea season two.
Will I apply for season two?
Speaker 2 (45:01):
one million percent,
yes and we're also nearing
absolutely where they give awaythe money on the app yes, if you
have not been entering moneylion.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
Uh, oh, um.
I have 46 entries so far youhave 45, 45 yeah yeah, um, it's.
Yeah.
They're giving away a thousandthousand dollar winners.
Right, is it a thousand?
Speaker 2 (45:24):
yeah, one thousand
thousand dollar winners.
I don't know, man I kind oflike those odds I, I, that's a
lot like those odds for forhaving.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
I mean, I, I think,
as far as the number of entries
go, we're pretty up there.
I think, um, I don't thinkeveryone's going to be
consistent.
Thank god for you, by the wayyou're the one that reminds me
most of the time I.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
I randomly I clicked
through a thread of one of the
messages on there and a lot ofpeople were like oh, I have 10.
I have 14.
And so I feel pretty good aboutour number Dude.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
I just want one of us
to win.
That would be amazing.
I already told you I'mfinancing a trip to Chicago with
Ed Grand.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
There's a lot,
there's a lot of and there's a
lot of bigger ones still as well.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
A million dollars.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Four million total
yeah.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
There's a million
dollar prize you're giving away
conveniently on my birthday.
Speaker 2 (46:15):
Just saying that'd be
fun to win.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
November 28th, but
you know what that means, though
that's like the whole year ofyou telling me it's entry time.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
There we go, that's
true.
Will we still be able to dothat for each day?
Speaker 1 (46:30):
until then wow yeah,
that's gonna be a busy year.
Listen, you know what I'llenter every day to win a million
dollars, no problem, absolutelyI mean exactly a couple clips
of clicks of the phone and boomso, um, speaking of big prizes
for game shows and we're up to apretty decent prize on deal or
(46:52):
no deal island yeah, up to fivemillion, something in a dollar,
right yeah, five, five, fivesomething so interesting.
The episode starts with ourbuddy from we are family philip
talking with uh poverty, and Ifigured who else was there.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
David was in there
yeah, and so he.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
I mean real wonderful
moments.
You know love philip, by theway.
Philip is just a great dude.
He's.
What you see on tv is exactlywho he is.
Um he, he talks about?
Speaker 2 (47:22):
he's down.
What are they down to like?
Final eight or nine?
Speaker 1 (47:24):
he's making it I'm
rooting for him.
Go, philip Solomon, absolutely.
Um, if Philip was on, we arefamily.
Go represent a D block right infront of me in the on on the
stage.
Um, you know he, he is playinga great game.
I kind of like his strategy ofwhat he's doing.
You know he opens up aboutbeing bullied as a kid, which I
(47:46):
kind of connected with.
I love that whole thing.
But of course Parvati, who is ablack widow from survivor, has
to say after that whole moment,I don't think he's a very
strategic player.
I will not agree with that.
Necessarily.
I think Philip is playingPhilip's game and I don't think
I think he's playing a strategicgame.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
And we said the same
thing in the moment.
But now, after having watchedit, you know, a day or two ago,
and then now thinking about it,I think they showed her saying
that on purpose, because thenwhen they play the game they
both lie to each other togetherand then she gets kind of mad,
even though she did the samething.
But I think that's because whenshe said that she genuinely
(48:26):
didn't think he could do that, and then what he did, she's like
okay, maybe you know, orshadowing gonna have to keep her
eye on him a little closer sothe game was there.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
They're both being
levied up on this, on this, uh,
hammock way about, I would havea problem with this, charlie, I,
I'm telling you straight up.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
This one would be
fine for me.
I'd much rather do this one.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
I could do the bugs
and scorpions.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
No way, I would do
this one for sure You're
harnessed in nice and safe, you're not going anywhere.
No, you fall 20 feet, that'sfine, you're harnessed in, I'll
listen to you.
Speaker 1 (49:02):
Oh, my God, that one.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
I would much rather
do than the disgusting all that
other stuff.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
All right, that's
good.
So if you and I are ever on areality show together, like the
Amazing Race, and remind me Ihave to talk about that real
brief because you know what I'mtalking, about yeah, we'll hit
that at the end.
Hit that at the end.
If you and I are ever on areality show, like the Amazing
Race, for example, I'll do thegross stuff and you do the
height stuff.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
You, I'll do the
gross stuff and you do the
height stuff.
If we have a Roblox or whatever, all right.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
Good Deal, all right.
So call us Jesse Tannenbaum, you know, come on, no, so listen
.
So they're being levied.
I forgot my train of thought.
I'm old, all right, they'rebeing levied up on these
hammocks and they're differentdollar amounts and they can be
honest or not honest, andwherever one person drops, they
(49:53):
both get that level's case, andwhoever has the higher case is
safe, whoever doesn't does not.
And, of course, poverty getsthe higher case and our buddy
philip is in jeopardy of beingeliminated.
And at this point I'm like ohno, I don't like the way the
editing is going.
I hope Philip isn't going home.
I was worried, I was worried, Iwas legit worried.
(50:13):
No one's even mentioning hisname, which I love.
He's in a good spot.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
I think he's got at
least another week or two to
skate through, hopefully further.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
Look at what happened
.
Amy was annoying as hell andshe made it to the end last year
Now.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
they're starting to
go after the family, though.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
And he's not in the
family, though he's friendly
with poverty, but he's not inthe family.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
No, he's the son I
thought.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
No, that was uh.
What's his name?
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Dixon, oh, it's Dixon
.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
No, I don't, I think.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Philip is safely kind
of.
I think what Philip is doing isstraddling the mind, the line.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yes, yeah, family
adjacent.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Which is smart?
Speaker 2 (50:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
Smart he's.
He's that what they call himbig brother.
He's a floater, which is not abad strategy, necessarily, until
you get caught and people arelike, oh wait, what are you
doing?
So the?
You get caught, um.
And people are like, oh wait, what are you doing?
Um, so the will?
I have to say this will goesagainst dixon and dixon gets the
higher case and will doessomething that I don't think any
(51:22):
other reality show would haveallowed him to do he walks off
in a temper tantrum and weliterally do not see will at the
end of the challenge.
People are like where is will?
And and?
And joe is like he, he didn'tlike what happened, so he's not
here.
And I'm thinking how is thatokay?
Um, uh, so we don't see willagain until we get back to the
(51:43):
bungalows and will is, like now, campaigning because he wants to
face the banker and open thecases.
And one thing I've learned aboutWill over the years is you do
not give Will what Will wants, because if you give Will what
Will wants, he will railroad you, and the smarter move would
have been someone stepping upand saying I'll face the banker
(52:05):
and get rid of Will.
That's the only way Will isgoing to go.
Go and watch when that happens.
Finally, we'll is going to havelike some kind of immunity or
something.
Um, I, I want him to go.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
He's a nasty player
Um yeah, I did not like that
episode at all.
Speaker 1 (52:23):
There's one thing
that really bothered me is uh,
there is a 70 something thousanddollar offer at one point and
he goes, I'll take it and hitsthe button.
Apparently, apparently, therules say that Joe has to say
deal or no deal.
So what is the purpose of thebutton?
I don't know.
Um you have to get it after heasks that's the purpose.
Speaker 2 (52:46):
Okay, terrible.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
So stupid, um, I
kicked him off at that moment.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
they really should
have.
Speaker 1 (52:54):
I mean baby diapers,
diapers um, but so he of course
gets.
He's like oh, it wasn'tofficial, so he goes through.
He takes a hundred somethingthousand dollar offer, which,
honestly, was the smart move.
If you're there and you havefour offers that are uh, you
have four amounts that are umbelow, if your odds, your odds,
(53:18):
right yeah, then that's thesmart move right, and that's
what I would do too, if I was inthat situation, I don't care
how much it is, yeah so he takesit decent, not amazing.
He made a good deal we found hiscase as a thousand dollars act
like a, like a butt.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Again, he does that
though he gave a speech about k
ck being mean to him and thisand that and blah, blah, blah at
the very end, and that is why Iam taking out MG, and then he
walks away super fast like ababy again Baby diapers, he's
the worst dude.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
Man.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
I'm glad I never saw
him on Big Brother.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Yeah, I still think
you should watch bits and pieces
of it because it's crazy.
So there's a thing real quick.
So he was on All Stars withBrittany and Danielle, who was
on the Traitors.
There's a thing real quick.
So he was on All-Stars withBrittany and Danielle, who was
on the Traitors, and he wasterrorizing Brittany and
Danielle on that season andDanielle.
Finally, his best friendthey're no longer friends, but
(54:18):
on the show is Mike Boogie, whowon.
I don't know if you know MikeBoogie.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Mike.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
Boogie ends up
stalking him later on and
they're not friends.
He files a restraining order.
It's a whole story.
Will file a restraining orderagainst him anyway.
So on that season, mike boogieis close to will and they get
mike boogie out and so in thedot, you know how they have at
the end of big brother, I meanat the end of the episode where
they show the diary room andwhat people are saying goodbyes
britney from from traders getson, and they had.
(54:45):
So let me rewind the wholeseason.
They had a whole thing goinghello, hello and they were doing
a fake will and mike boogiewere doing a fake phone call
going.
We just got you out and thiswhole thing.
And so britney and her goodbyemessage to mike boogie, she goes
danielle, hello, guess what?
Mike boogie is sitting outthere right now.
(55:06):
And it was, it was great I loveit.
Um, yeah, so irritating as hell.
I I agree 100.
Let me tell you, those earlydays of big brother have some of
the most cringy contestantsthat and I love it, I love it.
(55:26):
I've watched every season sinceseason one.
Love big brother.
The first season, again, nothing like the rest, and sorry
when I'm talking about bigbrother, we're not gonna see
that until july, but you know, hey, speaking of before we go,
you can mention amazing race, big brother connection yes, so
they just announced reality tvfan shout out um, they just
(55:49):
announced that season.
So we're going.
We're starting 37 of amazing,crazy 37.
We're starting 37 of theamazing race.
38 is about to tape season 38of the amazing race.
The entire cast is going to beone big former big brother house
guest playing with their familymember loved one.
(56:11):
We're gonna have a whole seasonof.
I think that's awesome.
I love that.
Um, I think for sure you'regonna see taylor playing with a
loved one I think, you're gonnasee michael bruner, probably
playing with a loved one.
um, I could think of a numberRachel's already played.
Some people have played AmazingRace already.
(56:33):
But yeah, who won last seasonof Big Brother?
Do you remember?
Speaker 2 (56:40):
I'm having an
absolute mind blank right now Me
too.
Let me see.
Speaker 1 (57:02):
Hold on on, I'll tell
you.
Season 26 chelsea, chelsea, that's right, chelsea was good,
um, chelsea probably will.
I mean, I think, that kind ofrecency bias.
We're going to see a lot ofplayers from recent seasons.
It's going to be interesting.
I'd love to see Michael.
You don't know who these peopleare, but Michael, who is Cowboy
, and Nokomis on their season ofBig Brother.
The twist was they didn't knowthey were related, their brother
(57:25):
and sister and so when Michaelcame on, the Comus was already
there and they find outthroughout the season that
they're related.
Evil Dick had a daughter thatcame in.
It's, it's crazy season.
They used to do some crazystuff on big brother, um, so I,
it's going to be interesting.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
Will there be any
recent big brother people on
there, do you think?
Speaker 1 (57:46):
I think chelsea, I
think taylor hale, I think
michael bruner.
Um, michael michael didn't winbig brother but I, I would say,
is probably one of the betterplayers in recent years, for
sure, um, I think we're gonnasee maybe some uh, some cookout
people maybe.
Maybe derrick.
Um, maybe some challenge vets.
(58:09):
I do know there were a numberof people that were asked, but
they were in contract with othershows, so I'm going to guess
that those people maybe wereDanielle and Brittany, who are
in contract with Peacock rightnow.
Peacock doesn't let release you, I think, until the end of the
year.
If you're on the traders, somaybe it should.
It should be interesting.
If you're on the traders, somaybe it should be interesting.
(58:31):
Anything else you'd like todiscuss?
No I think we covered it.
Oh yes, Real quick.
Thank you for that, Erica.
Wheel of Fortune is going tohave auditions in Chicago this
weekend, oh yeah, at the autoshow I was talking about that't
(58:56):
know if I'm going to be able to.
I would love it for you to dothat or at least get what about?
What about our buddy, who'sgoing to come on this podcast in
a couple of weeks?
Speaker 2 (59:05):
I don't know if he
would do that?
Is that wheel of fortune Idon't know if he's wheel of
fortune all right, all right.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
Well to the
chicagoland people.
If you're friends with charlieand maybe you want to audition
for a wheel of fortune thisweekend at the auto show,
they're gonna, they're gonna doa spot.
So head on out there and younever know, your life could
change or you can go on the showand win two thousand dollars
like I did, absolutely, I think,um whichever episode aired
(59:36):
today or yesterday, someone fromthe chicago area won like 40
000 or something.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
They said, wow, why
couldn't I do?
Speaker 1 (59:44):
that I wish I could
have done that, um, but yes,
still a memorable experience.
Obviously, I have a number ofmemorabilia behind my head up
here, but yeah, if you have, Imean I will say this if you've
never been on a game show, ifyou're okay with being in front
of a camera, do it.
Um, it is one of the mostmemorable things you'll ever do.
(01:00:07):
I've it, um, it is one of themost memorable things you'll
ever do.
I've said this before, I'll sayit again if you do go to the
wheel of fortune audition thisweekend um, it's not going to be
that in depth, basically you'regoing to play a game on the
stage and solve a puzzle, beexcited, um, show some
enthusiasm, show them why theywant to call you to a city
audition, which is basically youwould call to a hotel later on
(01:00:30):
and you know that's where youtake a test and all that stuff.
But this weekend it's justgoing to be kind of fun.
Laid back, uh, experience.
But definitely recommend verymuch if you are ever thinking
about going on a game show wheelfortune is as iconic as you're
going to get for our show.
(01:00:50):
I'm a millionaire's on on rightnow and Jeopardy trying to get
on, but that's a hard show toget on.
So, yeah, there you go.
This has been around the bases.
The pop culture and sportspodcast with your host and I am
Tim Sternberg, and until nextweek, watch that Superbowl, fly,
eagles, fly and let's go Metsand Cubs.
(01:01:12):
Have a great week, everybody.
Have a good one, thank you.
