Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Around the
Bases the pop culture and
sports podcast with your host.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Charlie Seymour.
Speaker 1 (00:05):
And I'm Tim Sternberg
.
Hit it, nick.
Alright, we are back.
(00:26):
Hey Charlie.
What's going on, buddy?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Not too much how you
doing.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm doing great.
I'm ready for baseball Baseball.
We started practice this weekand I'm excited.
It's another great week ofaround the bases.
Things are going well, man, your Cubs are.
What's the record?
Speaker 2 (00:47):
They're the only team
in baseball with a win.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
That's right.
The cubs played the dodgerstoday and, uh, defeated them
handedly I will say and thedodgers then?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
the dodgers are the
only team in baseball with a
loss.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Loss, that's also fun
yay, what was the final score?
Speaker 2 (01:04):
it was.
It was 12 to 4.
Oh, that is pretty handedly.
It is pretty handedly and younormal and let's, let's be real
for a second spring.
Training games don't reallymatter, however, but but the
cubs played essentially, anentire backup team and they
still won dodgers had someregulars in the lineup.
(01:26):
I'm not saying they didn't playtheir normal lineup.
Who pitched for the dodgers?
Uh, this guy named uh yamamotoever heard of him?
Speaker 1 (01:33):
he started the game
I'm trying to figure it out and
uh who he bets played for thedodgers as well.
You might know who that is yeah, he, he was on the Red Sox, I
think right, some big-nameDodgers did play in the game.
And the Cubs had their secondtier.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
The only, I would say
, regular Cubs.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
So some AA AAA
players.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Michael Bush was the
only regular.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
Okay, so some AA and
AAA players and some 26, 27, 28,
30 bench.
Some bench guys yeah, likeVidal brujan.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
yeah, he played
center field because the cubs
are thinking he could maybe be afifth outfielder, slash
infielder, all packaged in one.
I think they wanted to get alook at him out there so no kyle
tucker today no, no other no,happer no other other than
Michael Bush?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
No other Cubs.
Starter was in the lineup, allright, okay.
Well, who pitched for the CubsStarted the game?
Now, mind you, in springtraining folks, they only
pitched two innings.
Maybe three innings.
Cody Petit, okay Do you knowwho?
Speaker 2 (02:37):
that is no idea.
You know why.
You know why he's a significantname, why I'm putting this in
air quotes if you're justlistening to this but he was the
return for Cody Bellinger.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Oh, so a Cody for a
Cody.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
He's a swing man and
we saved about $25 million in
money.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
So a Cody for a Cody,
speaking of, that saved money.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
They did reinvest it
in a few moves.
Another move the Cubs madepretty interesting and I I like
a lot the cubs said justinturner oh yeah, I was gonna talk
about that.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Wow, former matt,
former dodger, uh, justin turner
, guy's just a winning ballplayer, good clubhouse guy.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
He surprisingly still
has it.
He has not had a below averageleague average hitting season in
his career and last season hewas still 17% above league
average.
And even better when he wastraded in September and the
reports were he turned downmultiple offers for more money
because he wanted to be a cub.
So those are the things youkind of like.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Is he from Chicago
land?
Is that why he wanted?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
to be a cub.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I think his wife is
okay, I mean honestly that
chicago's such and I'm not justkissing your ass because you're
here, but chicago is such agreat and we talked about this
is such a great baseball town.
It's a great sports town, butparticularly a great baseball
town, and I could see it.
I mean mean the fans at Wrigley.
I 100% see that.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Why not?
He's a good piece.
He knows his role coming over,so he's another interesting guy
to have in there.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
He's a badass.
I think he's one of those.
We talk about clubhouse culture.
He's one of those clubhouseculture guys.
I think that's going to be goodfor the Cubs.
I think he's going to lift upsome of your guys that maybe
have some assurance issues.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
And some good
leadership for the young quarter
guys like Shaw.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yeah, I think he's
going to be good.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Looking forward to
that move.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
I think it's going to
be a good chemistry for the
Cubs and real excited for that.
Speaking of chemistry, did yousee today the video of Juanan
soto gifting brett baity with achevy tahoe like pickup truck?
like trade jersey number dude, that was such a great I that
(04:57):
made me smile, man.
That video, yeah, when you sentthat to me I was like.
When you sent that to me I waslike I knew, I knew you would
love that.
I immediately was like, because, you know, I look, I always
look at things above the surface, you know, or under the surface
, however you want to, kind ofperspective, but in perspective.
But it's just such a culturething for the other guys to say
(05:18):
how legit juan soto is.
I mean, mind you, a fortythousand dollar car probably is
a drop in a bucket for Juan Soto, of course.
But it's not about that, it'sabout the dude just doing the
right thing that was hispaycheck for today.
Yeah, like for two hours.
Right, exactly For his twohours of spring training workout
(05:40):
Workout a one one cage.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
he ran second to
third a couple times and he said
you know what guys don't pay metoday?
Just give baity this car andthey said, okay, deal.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
So I funny a couple
funny stories regarding that
real quick.
Uh, eduardo asked baityyesterday for his insurance
information and baity's likewhat the heck is going on?
Apparently eduardo knew thatthe baby wanted a chevy tahoe,
so told juan soto um, so that'sthe interesting thing.
And also, before juan soto hadhis press conference back in
(06:16):
november, when he was signed, hecalled brett beatty to make
sure it was good with him andbrett beatty's like yeah, man,
it's just a number and it just.
And juan soto's, I'm going totake care of you.
Brett Beatty didn't do it forany expectation of anything.
It wasn't an agreement.
I love that.
You know what this young kidjust respecting.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I love it man Cubs
have a similar one this season.
Not quite the same, becauseJuan Soto signed for $700.
That's okay, though Insaneamount of money.
But when Kyle Tucker came overto the Cubs, do you know who had
his number here in Chicago?
Who Did you hear about thisstory?
No, it's someone who.
(06:56):
Let's play it here.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
I love these games.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Someone associated
with the Cubs?
Okay, obviously this person hasa world series ring okay, has a
ring associated with the cubsoh, he played at least a couple
seasons right in front of yourhome, your quote unquote
(07:21):
hometown, not actual hometown, but where you live.
Oh, here there.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Um so here's a Marlin
.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Mm hmm, um so there
no Uh now keep in mind how I
phrased the start of this.
I said associated with the Cubsbecause he might not be a
current player.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Oh, he was traded
already.
No, oh.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Maybe he just has a
different position within the
Cubs.
That also he wears a uniform inthe dugout.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Are you talking about
Andre Dawson?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Who's the Cubs
manager?
Oh really Craig Council?
Really, Craig Council had KyleTucker's number before Won a
World Series.
For those of you who wereplaying along, he won a World.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Series as a player
for the Marlins 1997.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
They probably went
nuts when they won it.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
It was probably a
very fun year.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yep, that was a funny
.
We've talked about this teambefore on this podcast Florida
Marlins.
We won't rehash it too much, but I mean, come on just for a
second, jeff, conine council, conine hernandez, luis castillo,
I mean there were some, wecould do this for a while, but
yeah, anyways, moises aloo yeah, florida, florida.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Jim leland was the
manager the florida marlins yep,
uh, they weren't.
The miami marlena was a 20 yearold rookie cup of tea yeah,
miguel cabrera, miggy cabrera,um, and he was on the 2003
marlins yeah, seriously, we did,we talked about this probably
oh yeah season one of thispodcast yeah, yeah, but but yeah
(09:04):
, I mean that 97 team willalways be tucker wear this full
circle so we don't go too faroff track.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
This was soto baity
trade for the jersey number.
Kyle tucker said that he'sgoing to get something for
council, but he wanted to get toknow him first.
So for the first like week ortwo he's been getting to know
him and then we'll the few daysmy guess is we'll see what
Tucker ended up getting him.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
And this is the
manager.
So this is true leadership themanager giving up his number for
one of his players coming in.
And honestly, even before heever was a manager for the
Brewers, before he was a managerfor the Cubs, craig Council is
one of my favorite Marlins fromthat team.
I love him.
He played shortstop he just heplayed everywhere.
(09:51):
Yeah, yeah, he had a playduring the 1997 World Series
that basically won it for theteam.
He was a legit player for theMarlins and for other teams.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
And it's a funny
dynamic Not quite the same where
in New York, Soto, biggestcontract in the history of
sports gifting a car to a guy ona minor league salary, not
making a lot of money, HoweverTucker, not making nearly as
much as.
Soto but Council also makingsome pretty fine money himself,
(10:26):
so he doesn't really need a JuanSoto type gift.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
No, but it's the
kindness of maybe he'll get it.
Maybe Craig Council likescigars and he'll get him.
A Council likes.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Notre Dame.
I wonder I wouldn't besurprised if he got him like
Notre Dame season tickets, football or something I know it
would be hard for him to win alot of the games, but he could
go to some of them.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
So wait, you're
telling me Council's a rival of
yours.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
I didn't know that
yeah, kind of.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Hoosier's rival is
Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
More.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Purdue, but that's
okay, purdue, yeah.
So baseball dude, I'm excited.
I am Sunday, I'm going to myerica and I are going to our
first spring training game.
We are driving an hour and ahalf up to port st lucie to see
the mets take on the marlins.
Um, I'm hoping, you know,because there's no, there's no
(11:18):
promises in spring training, soI'm hoping I see juan soto,
maybe get lucky and see him.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
It is a split squad
chance you'll be.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
It'll be sunday, you
said sunday yeah, it's sunday,
it's the first game and ofcourse, no, it's the second game
.
Born, their first game,saturday.
Um, you should at least get tosee some people, even some
players, you know my concern isit's a split squad.
But if it's a split squad andthey're playing at another park,
I'm thinking they're going tokeep most of the stars in the
(11:46):
home park, because that's whatthey want people to see.
So, yeah, I hope pete is thereand I mean it's not like I
haven't seen maybe send one ortwo each place.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Matt's got a lot of
big names.
You know what I mean.
There's a nice yeah, that's anice thing like the mats they
can.
You could legitimately havethem all being playing in split
and no matter what, you're goingto get to see a few big names.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
I'm excited.
I mean, and the next day we'redriving back home On our way,
home is Jupiter and we're goingto go to Roger Dean Stadium,
which is the home of theCardinals and the Marlins for
spring training, and we're goingto see the Cardinals play the
Mets.
So you're going to root for the.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Mets that, and we're
going to see the Cardinals play
the Mets, so you're going toroot for the Mets.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
That's a split
stadium.
Cardinals-milans no, that willnot be a split game.
So, oh, that's yeah.
Spring training yes.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Yes, so that means
you're in for a treat.
You'll get to see theelectronic ball strike system.
It's at all the dual stadiums.
That's how they did it, tomaximize its use.
Oh, I can't wait I don't knowif you got to see it, but it was
used today.
Oh I did not see it.
(12:51):
They successfully challenged inthe first or the second inning.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
And they won it.
So it was the Dodgers homestadium right today, Correct?
And they share it with theWhite Sox, correct?
Okay, See, I know some thingsthere you go.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, it's all the
shared stadiums have it, so
there's a few other ones inarizona have them, and a lot of
them are in florida yeah, soanother roughly two-thirds of
the league another sharedstadium that I will be going to
eventually is in west palm beach.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
that's the houston
astros and the was Washington
Nationals share a stadium, so Iwill be going there.
That's actually the closest tome, but it's my least favorite
for some reason.
Who are they playing so?
Speaker 2 (13:34):
I don't know yet.
Oh, you're not going to a gamespecifically.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Not yet.
It's going to be either theNationals versus the Mets or the
.
It has to be the Mets, I'm onlysticking with the Mets.
Or the Astros versus the Metsor the.
It has to be the Mets, I'm onlysticking with the Mets.
Or the Astros versus the Mets.
I'm thinking the Astros versusthe Mets would be a little more
entertaining at least, or someresemblance of stars on that
team.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You never go to a
game just to go to a game.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I do sometimes.
Sometimes I've gone non-Mets butI'm so hip on the team you'd
want to go see so, on the westcoast, you got uh, in fort myers
, you got the red socks um, Ilike to see them.
I have not done that yet.
I haven't gone to fort myers tosee baseball, um.
And then, of course, and up inthe tampa area or on the way to
(14:19):
tampa, you have radenton, whichis the pirates, I think, uh.
And then you got the tigers insarasota and you got um, the
orioles are up there also, uh,the phillies are up there, the
um, uh, the uh yankees and, ofcourse, the tampa bay is up
(14:41):
there.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
So what I was?
Speaker 1 (14:42):
I was meaning was the
closest stadium to you most
conveniently West Palm BeachCorrect?
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Is there another
major league team that would
play there that you'd beinterested in seeing and you'd
go just for just to go, the mostconvenient playing, you know
the Orioles or?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah, any.
Well, you see, the problem isbecause of the way our geography
is.
In florida it's a littledifferent in arizona.
In florida, the teams on theeast coast don't play the west
coast that often because there'sa lot of travel involved.
So it's like usually once, oncein spring training, and usually
towards the end they'll playeach other.
But there are teams, of courseI would love to see um,
(15:23):
especially the blue jays are indunedin.
I'd love to see the blue jays.
I'd love to see vladdy, youknow, and our buddy, uh, davis,
um, davis, yeah, I'd like to,you know.
So I'm thinking and ericadoesn't know this yet, but we
might do a west coast trip, uh,probably around st patrick's day
and when you say west coast, you're saying west coast, west
coast of florida, yeah, just tojust See.
(15:45):
In Arizona it's a littledifferent and you've been there,
I have not, but the two kind ofpatches of spring training are
not that far away from eachother.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Well, yeah, I know.
I just wanted to clarify forgeography.
You know we got peoplelistening everywhere.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
That's true.
Oh, by the way, we havelisteners I appreciate that.
Thank you for that.
I do, you're good, you're good,you're good.

spreading the word.
Um, speaking of spreading theword, um who?
(17:23):
Where do I go with this?
Speaker 2 (17:25):
um traitors I had to
be oh, my god, um, you know.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
So I'm going to
preface this by saying this my
my review of the episode in oneline one of the best episodes
I've ever seen.
Now what's?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
your review in one
line.
Um so, earlier in the day, wellbefore the episode was out, I
shared a tweet with you and oneof our other fellow trader
watchers, michael shout outmichael from ohio, what's up
mike.
This won't be a spoiler for theepisode, but she simply tweeted
(18:04):
to all my fans.
I'm so, so sorry.
And then she used the gif ofhomer simpson going back into
the bushes, which is like one ofmy all-time personal favorite
things of things which was inthe back of my head the entire
time me too, I'm not gonna lie.
so the whole time I was likereally looking forward to this
(18:24):
episode and, as you said I tosum up what you said it did not
disappoint me it was good dude.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
I mean, I understand
a lot of people are a Carolyn
fans, I understand it.
But I feel like this and we'regoing right to the roundtable.
We'll kind of backtrack in aminute, but I feel like it was a
battle of the wits and it wasgoing to be Carolyn versus
Danielle, and may the best womanstand at the end, whoever did a
(18:56):
better job.
And, quite frankly, at thatround table Carolyn didn't stand
a chance against Danielle andlet's talk about why that is.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
That was such
unbelievable gamesmanship by her
in the turret.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
We were watching live
chess in the turret dude.
We were watching manipulationof the mind.
Go explain what happened that.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
So basically they
were, they were by, they were
tasked by alan.
Before the challenge were tobegin, they were asked questions
who they think is the mostthreat, biggest threat to the
game, who was the biggest talker?
There were basically fourquestions of who they thought
the consensus was and they wouldpick an answer.
(19:47):
And I don't know how.
I don't know how danielle didit, but carolyn basically
floated an idea and thenDanielle basically got behind
Carolyn and just puppeted herthrough exactly what she wanted
to do and she somehow gotCarolyn to agree to put Carolyn
(20:09):
as one of the answers, whichthey know.
The whole point of the game was,if they all agree and get the
answer right, they'd add moneyto the pot.
So if you know what the answeris, you're going to naturally
kind of steer money into the pot, even if it's at your own
demise, without realizing it.
And I thought that was justunbelievably well done by her.
(20:32):
The last couple of weeks I gotto say we were being a little
hard on her and I thought shedeserved it and she may have.
She could still be in trouble.
We'll get to that in a littlebit gabby.
As far as it goes, for thismoment in time she definitely
saves her butt and at leastprolonged her another another
(20:53):
two people she.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Let me tell you
something she literally gave the
noose and let carolyn basicallydo it herself.
And when you fast forward tothe challenge, carolyn is
literally without knowing itbecause she is so ditzy she's
literally throwing herself outthere and they keep panning to
(21:17):
dylan effron's face and you seedylan effron's face in real time
, start computing that thisisn't right and then I'm like
scrouting yes, dylan effron, yes, you got it, you got it.
And I was like, I was so like, like seeing the light bulb
moment in real time.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
It's just something
about it.
You know who else noticed thatin real time were our guest
stars.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Oh yes, poverty and
Kate and Kate.
It's so weird to see Poverty onthis show knowing that she's
actually in the island somewheretoo.
So you know, it's a littleweird because you know one day,
and just for, for, for, for, for, for argument purposes and just
for clarification deal or nodeal, island taped before the
(22:08):
traders or no taped after, thetraders after after.
So yeah, there you go um, butthat was pretty.
I loved having them there.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
I thought it was very
interesting yeah, they were
pretty spot on with some oftheir observations too they were
, which is crazy because youthink they were watching the
whole season and they're likeand and they got how, how
ridiculous thompson, but yeah,she so.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
So danielle basically
let carolyn shoot herself in
the foot, and it was enough tosway, and it was enough to put
doubt in the people's minds.
And, sure enough, when thevotes started to come, you know,
uh, carolyn got that dylanaffron vote and I and I kind of
knew at that- point a couple ofthe swing votes, and Dylan was
(22:59):
definitely one of them yeah, andcan we just talk about how Tom
and how they keep voting him andI?
Speaker 2 (23:08):
forgot her name.
Yes, we can talk about that, because before we're sitting
there, the round table, beforethey actually vote ends, and I
the first thing I said was wow,can you believe he just ended it
and they've only talked abouttwo people the whole time?
And then the first thing I saidto Rosie after that was I
guarantee you it's going to getto Tom and everyone's going to
(23:31):
be voting a very specific way,and then Tom's going to be like
nope, nope, I'm voting Dolores.
And then Tom voted Dolores andI got off the couch, started
laughing.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Me too, and then
Dolores voted for Tom.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Of course, one and
one Right back at each other.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
So basically, they
just wash each other out, and
you know, so they're not reallyplaying the traitors.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
There's only eight
votes, so those are big votes,
right there.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
But you know they're
not playing the game seriously.
If they're doing that honestly, just imagine if both of them
voted for Danielle instead.
So that's the question I havefor you.
So they previewed at the endand we're going to talk about
the end end, but not yet.
After the roundtable they showGabby talking to a couple of
people and going, but thatseemed like some trader on
(24:19):
trader stuff.
Yes, I wonder, though, if I'min that house and I'm going to
give you my thinking at thispoint.
I'm thinking I got all thetraders out.
There has already been threetraders that were kicked, and
you know you again, you don'tknow a recruiting.
But if Danielle I thinkDanielle did a great performance
after it was revealed, andalmost I thought at that moment,
(24:41):
when you know it was revealedCarolyn was a traitor, I thought
, oh my God, daniel's in, likeFlynn, for the rest of the show,
because there's no way they'regoing to suspect her.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
I think they still
think there's one other traitor
because they kept saying girlsplural.
There were two girls left.
I think they all pretty muchassumed that rob was an added
one on top of it because robcame in later, otherwise they
might have thought that theywere all done.
But I believe it was um iverwho said we're, we are, we're
(25:16):
pretty sure it's two girls still.
So I think they think there'sstill one left.
But to your original point, suspicion is still on Danielle
because of the arguing.
And then the other thing Gabbysaid was she felt there was
major Rob and Bob, the dragqueen vibes, and both of them
agreed as well.
(25:36):
So unless they can getsuspicion on someone else, so
that tells me something.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
So I think, well, we
saw the preview and it was very
predictable.
I mean, danielle is going torecruit, uh, brittany um a
fellow big brother reindeerreindeer games.
First, full circle dude.
This is crazy heartbroken toaccept, I think.
Well, if she doesn't, she'skilled right, that's what I'm
(26:02):
saying now britney's not thatstupid britney will accept.
And they show in a previewbritney's face.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I don't know if they
did that to throw us off, but
I'm pretty sure, I'm prettyconfident britney's going to
accept and, and I thinkhonestly- danielle could also
pitch it well Like listen, I washoping the whole time to get
the two survivors out to recruityou.
You can go back.
I've said it for multipleepisodes.
I was just praying not to keepyou alive, to get you there long
(26:29):
enough.
At that point, will Brittany belooking out for herself, or
will she trust her?
Speaker 1 (26:36):
That's a good point,
I think you know.
I think Brittany owes it toDanielle based on and for those
of you who don't remember orremember, we actually covered
this in the beginning of thispodcast way back when, but
Brittany and Danielle were on ashort lived series last December
called reindeer games bigbrother reindeer games and there
was a a wheel.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Are we going to call
it a series, that we're going to
call it all?
Right, we're a one-off.
Yeah well, a two episode.
Big brother's been off withelves and stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
But uh, so there was
a challenge where there was a
hamster wheel with time I I'mkind of recalling it from memory
and uh, britney pretty muchscrewed danielle over in that
challenge and dan Danielle wassent home, and so there was
animosity between the two ofthem, carried over into the
traders, and I think Brittanykind of feels like maybe she
(27:24):
owes it to Danielle, maybe Idon't know.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
I like that, I like
that theory.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Let me tell you
something.
The Big Brother fan in me waslike yes, yes, I'm so excited To
see Brittany and Danielle teamup as traitors.
That is like for the five.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
They're the final
seven.
Yeah, and it's gonna be finalsix because they still, then
they're gonna murder who.
Who's your top nominees for it,dude?
Speaker 1 (27:50):
they have to take
dylan out.
They have to get rid of dylanbro they have to.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
They've been waiting
too long, I think he's getting
too close, I think.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
Dylan and gabby I
think gabby's dangerous too and
and eva ivar ivar I, I thinkthose are the three that are
really, really dangerous.
I think you can leave doloresand tom alone and they're gonna
keep voting for each other untilthe end, that's true I would
just leave them alone.
Gotta keep them yeah becausethey're so stupid.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Especially now, set
you down to seven when they
murder you down to six.
Two of six votes is one third.
Yeah, if they stick togetherwith the votes, they can easily
bully out the other couplepeople.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
I think two things
happen Either Brittany and
Daniel both make it to the end,or if one of them leaves, I
think Brittany wins the wholething.
I really do.
I think Brittany has a goodshot.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Unless, unless they
all vote Brittany out also at
six.
Maybe, that's the only way shecould go.
Yeah, it's solid.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Such a good show, it
is such a good.
It's like if I'm like screamingin the house yes, yes, yes, you
know that's a good show.
Come on, know that's a goodshow.
Come on, like that's crazy.
And so it was renewed forseasons four and five, which is
exciting, and apparently realreality tv fan on instagram said
that they're going to beshooting it in april, which is
exciting.
I I have to back with uk andcelebrity uk I think taylor hall
(29:10):
is a good shot of being onthere.
Maybe, if not taylor, there'sgoing to be some big brother
representation, I feel like, because big brother oh yeah and
survivor.
So hey, if for survivor youdon't know who might show up, I
mean there's so many people theycan still use for for all of it
, so I'm excited, I'm real.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Really I love that
I'd like to see them mix in a
few other random I mean I'd loveto be on there.
Go right ahead.
I'd like them to see.
Could they get see?
The problem is when they filmit.
It's like it takes away all thebasketball players, the
baseball players.
Could they sneak an nfl?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
player in there.
That would be awesome to see.
I would love that and they, youknow I mean I wouldn't.
I wouldn't be upset aboutpossibility um, you know, and
also there was some actor, actress, something like that.
That would be.
I love it, dale.
You know, honestly, dylan efronwas kind of a nobody before
this and I he's become one of myfavorite characters he's great,
(30:13):
he's.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
I like how, got a
brother who can act, by the way.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Zac Efron yeah, he's
pretty good.
He's actually in the comedieswith Seth uh Rogan.
Pretty funny Actually,neighbors.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
How about the sad
movie where he plays the brother
with Jeremy Allen White?
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Oh, yeah, yeah, he's
a great ally.
I'm a fan.
Yeah, yeah, I'm a fan.
Yeah, yeah, I'm a fan.
Um, I was going to say there'ssome complications, though, with
big brother, because I don'tknow if we talked about it on
this.
I think we did.
Big brother is going to.
There's going to be like 15 bigbrother contestants with their
family members on the amazingrace coming up.
That's right, so there's alittle overlap there and I kind
(30:54):
of feel like Taylor might be onthat instead of this, so we'll
see how it kind of plays out.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
It is a CBS program.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
We might you think
you think we might.
I know you're not going to likethis and we're going to talk
about this show in a minute.
Do you think Dr Will might showup on the traders?
He did retire from reality.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
He is available now.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
He's no longer, uh,
on a show, so deal or no deal,
island happened.
Um, we will say it happened, uh, and it started with our buddy
philip laying down harriettubman quotes and saying, uh,
bringing up her name and kind ofmaking a moment for himself.
And you know what?
We'll advocate for Philip to goon the next season of the
traders.
That would be amazing.
(31:41):
Our buddy Mike is definitelyone.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I mean, they had
poverty on again, so maybe she
can put in a good word that'sright, and you know poverty and
Philip were working together andmaybe she owes him one maybe
she does, who knows?
Speaker 1 (31:57):
so the at the
beginning of the episode they
had an elimination because wewere.
We were robbed from that, uh,the previous week, and seychelle
was eliminate.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Seychelle was
eliminated, right um, and she,
she, uh, she went out with some.
She went out of bank yes, against she was going to get her
shots off.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
CK is not have a lot
of fans.
I will say, let's put it thatway and honestly I'm not a fan
of her either.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
She wasn't wrong.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
No, she was not wrong
.
I mean, I kind of agree, ck,you know there's a thing.
Tell me how you feel about this.
We both watch a lot of realityTV.
I think there's a line.
So you do want to be a goodvillain, right, you want to be a
good villain, make good TV, butthere's kind of a line when you
go from being a good villain tojust being an asshole.
(32:50):
I mean, you know what?
I mean Right, and you don't wantto cross that asshole line.
Speaking of which, um, so the,the bankers will, um bye, dr
will adios that was.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
That was pretty
satisfying.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
I'm not gonna lie
don't let the door see you.
I mean I you know it's hard forme because I usually watch
these shows ahead of you.
Not to spoil anything, I waslike, oh man, charlie's gonna
love this, charlie's gonna belike yes um.
But yes, dr will was eliminatedum by the aussie survivor who
people are starting to kind ofget.
I don't.
Will they understand that hewas on aussie survivor?
(33:35):
I don't know.
They keep talking about it.
I feel like it's gonna pop upat some point, like I think that
one of the better chances ofsomeone figuring it out.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Just walked out that
door in dr will because will he
was on it.
He's like you've won somethingbefore and like I don't.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
He's ready to win it
our buddy philip pretty much
nailed poverty pretty quickly somaybe he kind of has a.
I don't know how much realitytv he watches.
I know he watched.
We are family, I, I think.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
I think the fact that
it's australian might be enough
for them to not know, because Iwouldn't have known it, and I'm
a pretty big junkie, I don'tknow, that's what I'm saying,
like you had to, reallyspecifically now so will.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Apparently is is
retired, so there you go, I I
just I'll say so.
He claims he was a season, sowill was, and we talked about
this.
But real quick, he will oneseason two of big brother.
Um, and he was dr will and youknow he was just.
He has not changed at all in 30, in 20, 24 years.
(34:42):
So 2001 was big brother seasontwo.
He hasn't changed at all.
He's just as obnoxious as hewas back then.
So it's not surprising to me.
I know you didn't watch seasontwo of big brother, but if you
go back and watch that and youbig watch big brother all-stars,
where he was on the season withdanielle reyes and britney
haynes, so that's interesting.
Um, yeah, he was not.
(35:03):
Yeah, anyway.
So bye dr will, and we haveanother.
Philip survives another weekand I'm rooting for him, that's
that's our compadre.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
He's starting to be
getting to a real possibility.
Yes, wow, and another another$1 shy of a million added to the
pot.
I mean, the number's gettingbig.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Number's getting big.
Philip has a chance to be thestar player.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
How'd it do it?
A little, a little more thanthe star player.
Yeah just had to do it a little, a little more than the star
player.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
Yeah, just a bit our
player times like 150, um, but
it's pretty.
You know, every time I watchhim on the screen I'm like
that's just crazy.
I remember talking to him andI'm like it's nuts.
You know, it's just great.
It's funny how things work out.
But yeah, uh.
So, um, speaking of game showson Fox, we are family.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Beautifully done,
beautifully done Take us home.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Let's, let's take it
home with the floor.
See you're, you and I are up onthe season.
I mean, I've watched lastseason.
You still have to catch up onlast season.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
I, yes, I have not
seen season two and thankfully
you're a man of honor, a man ofintegrity.
Yes, yes, I will not spoil youhave not spoiled it for me, and
which is amazing because, likeyou know don't get me wrong we
like the floor, but it's notlike survivor or big brother or
something where, like, oh no,I'm worried about spoilers.
So so hopefully no one, no one, spoils that for us I think
(36:31):
you'll'll be all right.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
Um, I think so too I
it's.
A season two is very good.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
We will do it at one
of these days, but we, we once,
once, uh, well, we'll see.
We got survivors starting upagain soon.
We'll see.
It'll be tough to squeeze in.
We do, I'm on one day or 49?
Speaker 1 (36:50):
uh, is it 49?
Speaker 2 (36:54):
yeah, no 48, 48 49,
40.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Yeah, uh, it's 48.
Uh, it's exciting.
I mean I'm I can't wait.
So the floor.
There were some categories youwere talking to me about that
you loved what was one of thoseyes, um sports mvps.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Oh, that was.
Uh, that was up my alley whatdo you?
Speaker 1 (37:17):
how?
I mean I?
I bet you got every single oneof them um, I, yeah, most of
them, I can't remember.
To be honest, they had a theyhad a new twist an association
category.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
You saw that yes,
that one, I thought was.
I liked it First of all.
Shouldn't they probably havegotten 50 seconds instead of 45?
Speaker 1 (37:39):
Yeah, I know, it took
longer.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Because it takes an
extra second or two to get those
clues out there.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
It did, and you had
to listen to Rob Lowe say them.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
And most of the time
they wouldn't guess until they
saw at least two.
Very occasionally they saw one, would they?
Speaker 1 (37:53):
one guy finally
guessed one early but the third
clue was it give me like it wasexactly.
I mean, I mean I got I would sayI got about 90 of those and
islands is I was wondering howthe heck were they going to do.
They really should have donemountains like that too.
To be honest with you, I mean, yeah, um, you know geography and
me you know, you remembertrivial pursuit and I kind of
(38:15):
didn't do that category.
So, yeah, I'm not, I'm not bigon geography.
Um, there are some categoriesout there still I love, like TV
moms is a category.
I can't wait for that one.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
College basketball.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yes, and you did.
You see that.
So the girl do do do the guyher category, because she didn't
want him to.
It's something about college.
He knew college basketball andhe ended up getting the category
.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
So, yeah, I think
there's a lot of psychological
things going on that you have tosay, oh no, I am the expert in
this, and I mean to intimidatepeople and yeah, we also need to
mention how a lot of the timesokay, we credit is given and and
(39:06):
questioned.
A lot of the times therandomizer we feel is not very
random and why I say this is wehad an instance again happen
where someone's like no, youknow what.
I'm going to go back to thefloor.
Randomizer hits it one touchingit, and then they have to go
back up again.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
The randomizer was on
the left side a lot.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
I will.
Here's where I was going withthat.
So you have that where wequestioned the randomness of it.
But at the same time, brian ourgood old pal from the movie
Clerks and Clerks 2, and he goeseight or nine battles, keep in
mind with the most territory andnot one of them touches him, so
he wins the 20k again.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
By default.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Simply because that
shows you that's pretty random.
Honestly, the odds are probablybetter that one time it would
touch him because he has so manypieces there's, you know, it's
more than just he has ninepieces.
So he's touching nine, you know, because one piece can touch a
bunch of spots yep, I will saythis real quick before I get
(40:13):
corrected by our listeners.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
And it's not judging
amy, it's chasing.
Amy is another kevin smithmovie, so sorry about that oh, I
didn't even.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
I didn't even hear
that.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
So yeah, I said
judging amy, but you know we
have some listeners that knowtheir stuff and I want to make
sure that.
Yes, I'm sorry about that, um,but you know there were
opportunities for people to getmore spaces than him with one
duel and they chose not to.
If I'm in that situation, honestly I'm going to go for it
(40:42):
because I want 20 grand and notleave with nothing, because
eventually, the odds of youwinning money on the show are
not great If you have theopportunity to win the 20K not
great if you have theopportunity to win the 20k.
So the one guy did say that themore times you battle, the
greater the chance.
This is true and that's true, but you know one or two battles
(41:04):
and just to try to get the moneyI think is worth the risk now
here.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
What about this
theory?
Now I'm using your own logicand statements as a little
devil's advocate here.
You said that you noticed youfelt the randomizer was heavy on
the left side tonight.
The last couple at the end whowent back, who could have done
what you said.
Maybe they felt, hey, a lot ofthe left side's already been
randomized.
If the randomizer really has tohit all the ones one time
(41:33):
before it repeats, maybe itwon't come back to this side for
a couple episodes and all of asudden there's only 20, 30
people left.
Then, you know, things getinteresting to that point You're
right.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
I mean, there's a
couple of corners that are in a
really good spot, because youknow if you're a corner and
you're surrounded by people thathave already dueled you're so
sweet and that's, and granted, Idid not watch.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
We haven't seen
season two yet, but season one.
That's pretty much whathappened to one of the people I
mean they were buried in thecorner and then all of a sudden
final like three or four people, and they're one of the people I
will not spoil season two, butyes, uh, and we won't re-spoil
season one, but that couldhappen again, is all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
Correct, Correct, and
so you know, we'll see what
happens.
I would love, I mean I wouldlove, to go on the floor.
I mean I think I would have aball, but yeah.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Yeah, that's all I'll
say about that.
That's all I'll say about that, that's all I'll say about that
about that.
Speaker 1 (42:37):
That's all I'll say
about that.
That's all I'll say about that.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Okay, but I love the
floor and I love fox and
everything it's.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
It's honestly it's
it's still pretty, it's a pretty
fun show yeah yeah, I wish Iwould bring back this show over
here.
Do you yell out?
Speaker 2 (42:47):
the answer as fast as
you possibly.
100 make sure you say it fasterthan okay.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
How do you know me so
well?
Because you probably do thesame thing.
Of course, I'm like this.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Faster faster Like
I'm practicing and then you say
it right, but only partially, sothen you redo it a second time.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
Does it drive you
crazy, though, that some of them
are like yes they're so.
I'm like, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (43:16):
we had.
Yeah, let's talk about I thinkhis name was seth.
He sat there with 20 secondsleft and he basically the
equivalent of he took the snap, took a knee and then sat there
and handed the ball to the refand then but the only difference
was he did this when his teamwas losing.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
It is so frustrating
how slow some of these folks are
.
Do you realize?
It's a tough?
And what makes me crazy, too,is when the other person answers
and it goes back to the otherperson or they pass on something
and they just forget that it'stheir turn.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
That's what happened
to that one lady as well.
Yes, oh my God.
The crowd's like they told hershe ended up losing anyways.
But for a moment.
All right, she, she, this iswhere she forgot.
The crowd yelled at her.
She said oh okay, and thenanswered she was down about
eight.
I'd have to go back and watchit again, but it was like about
(44:11):
18-ish.
No, it was like 18 to 20.
But then it got to all of asudden the other person passed
twice and then all of a suddenshe was back to within a couple
seconds.
But then she struggled againand then lost.
But it made you wonder.
Had she not the first timecompletely zoned out, even only
for half of it, it could havebeen a battle.
(44:32):
All it takes, you know, is acouple, you miss a couple and
then you panic, as we saw inanother one, a couple of the
battles later.
Same thing happened, bro man.
Yeah, it was one of the maleduels, but yeah, it's fun to
(44:53):
watch.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
And you know news, uh
, hollywood squares was renewed
for season two, and I say goodnews because a lot of our
audience likes to audition forgame shows.
So as soon as they have thataudition information I'll share
it.
Um, but that's exciting, um.
So yeah, and there's auditionshappening right now.
I know big brother, season 27,is taking applications and there
are other shows takingapplications and you know,
(45:18):
eventually I you know I'm over31 pounds lost and when I get to
my goal weight survivor- oneand a half 31 and a half pounds,
don't sell yourself short I'mlosing that kind of you know um.
I am real excited to auditionfor survivor Hopefully.
So yeah, I'm.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
I know it's not your
cup of tea, but I don't want to
jinx it, but you're probablygoing to be a third of the way
to a to a hundred on Monday.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
Hopefully, bro
Hopefully I mean I'm by my
calculations.
I so my goal weights one 70,that's 92 pounds total loss.
I could get there by September, october.
So I'm hoping, I'm hoping whenI see you this summer, I'm
hoping I'm a pretty big way away.
National convention in Chicagothis year, folks.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
Keep working at it.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Yeah yeah.
Anything else you want to talkabout?
Speaker 2 (46:12):
You're almost at the
number that Soda traded for.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
That's right, that's
right.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
Full circle, bringing
it back to the beginning of the
episode Love it.
Yeah, but we got, we got.
We got Survivor coming up soon.
We got more baseball coming upsoon.
We're we're home stretch.
We're about to start seeing thesun.
A lot more Things are moving.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
