Spring training is upon us, and with it comes the excitement of a new baseball season! We kick off this episode discussing the thrilling updates from spring training—how teams like the Cubs and Mets are performing and what that means for their upcoming seasons. As baseball fever grips the nation, we share personal anecdotes from our travels to various ballparks, detailing the joy of catching live games during this vibrant time of year.

Transitioning from the diamond to the small screen, we dive into reality television, examining the growing trend of cliffhangers that are increasingly frustrating viewers. Shows like "Deal or No Deal Island" and "The Traitors" compel us to grapple with strategic choices and alliances, but do cliffhangers detract from the experience, leading to viewer dissatisfaction? Our conversation is rich with insights and critiques on the format of game shows and reality series alike.

As we wrap up, our talk turns to the highly anticipated return of "Survivor," how it successfully narrates without resorting to tense cliffhangers, and what makes it a captivating viewing experience. Additionally, we discuss the entertaining elements of "The Floor," a new game show igniting viewer engagement through competitive trivia segments.

We invite you to join us on this entertaining journey as we reflect on the evolving landscape of sports and reality television, explore what excites us this season, and contend with the questions that captivate audiences. Tune in, and don’t forget to share your thoughts with us—what are you most looking forward to this season, in baseball and beyond?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Good the Cubs.
How are they doing?
Just a pulse check real quick.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
We're officially well where you're sitting.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
We're officially into March and they have still yet
to be defeated I mean, mind you,it's spring training, but I
mean that that has to be prettycool it's just a statement.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I'm not taking anything out of it.
I'm just stating a fact exactly.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Uh, I cannot say the same about the mets, but you
know what?
We're not playing our stars ayear?
Not either, but we're.
We're playing our stars aboutevery other day.
Which means this Sunday I amgoing to um Fort Meyer.
Well, we're going.
Tomorrow.
We're going to go to Fort Myers, we're going to see the Boston
it's a home of the Boston RedSox spring training and we're
going to see them play theMinnesota twins tomorrow.

(01:19):
And then on Sunday we'restaying overnight in Fort Myers.
And Sunday we're going to seemy New York Mets and the only
time they're going on the westcoast of Florida on Sunday to
play the Boston Red Sox.
So that's going to be fun.
It's going to be a fun time.
That sounds fun.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
That will already be your fourth park of the spring.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yes, yes, it'll be my fourth.
Yeah, willy nilly, that'simpressive.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yes it'll be my fourth, yeah willy-nilly.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Um, you know it's, uh , it's, it's.
It's a lot more than I'veusually done.
I really do have the baseballfever this year.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
I don't know, maybe signing one, so it'll help uh,
yeah and uh maybe, how far youguys went the year before when
you basically wrote them offfive why would you do that, dude
what?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
wow, wow really.
Oh okay, wow what?

Speaker 2 (02:09):
isn't that not what happened?
I forgot you're so bad I get itwait by the hype too wait, you
forget.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
You don't forget a freaking thing.
What are you talking about?
Like that's, you know, like man, oh hey, there's nothing to be
upset about.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I'm not saying no, I'm not upset?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
I'm not upset, I'm just saying no what are you
talking about?
I'm smiling for our viewers.
That are one viewer that maybewatch on youtube.
I'm smiling, um.
All right, speaking of uh, um,we do have another episode that
is coming out this week.
Just for our listeners to know,we have a movie oscar preview

(02:52):
special with our you're a greatbuddy and now my friend sam the
professor is joining the expert.
Yeah, so check that out also.
So if you're listening to thisepisode, there's going to be
another one right after this, socheck it out with the professor
.
It is a great episode.
We have a lot of greatdiscussions, and just check it
out, um, but we're talkingregular pop culture this week,

(03:14):
in sports, of course, and we gotto start off with deal or no
deal island.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Uh, um yeah, it's, it's narrowing down you know,
dude, it wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
It wasn't going to be the way I would have played the
game to let kind of David andPoverty kind of run the
challenge.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah, it seems like they're still kind of in, like I
don't want to say celebrity awe, because they don't even really
know about David, but they knowPoverty, but they're kind of.
Yeah, it kind of seems likethey're getting swept up by it.
I think a few of them arerealizing it, but they're kind
of.
Yeah, it kind of seems likethey're getting swept up by it.
I think a few of them arerealizing it, but they're on the
outside anyways.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
So I I understand there's some beef between, like,
one side and the other and Ithink if they want to survive,
ck has to join with Phillip andwith what's the young lady I
forget Phillip's friend.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Letty.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Letty, letty, phillip and Letty that she, philip, and
with what's the young lady?
I forget philip's friend, um,laddie, laddie, laddie, philip
and laddie that she has to joinwith them, otherwise I'm telling
you poverty, david and by, Iguess, uh, you know, by default,
dixon is are gonna eat themalive.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, fair enough, I mean the preview for the
following episode.
I don't want to give away toomuch, but it did seem to be like
dixon was leaning into beingable to play both sides, because
he's kind of square in themiddle and we know the whole
family thing with david andpoverty, but he feels a little
betrayed because of her decision, which we'll get to um, but

(04:39):
we'll see and we we know theediting hasn't been the greatest
, so it's possible that that'sexactly what happens, you know,
sometimes in reality shows andwe're going to talk about the
traitors later in the episodewhere the editing kind of leads
one way and we don't knowexactly what, and uh, yeah, mbc,
stop with the freaking.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
And peacock is part of mbc.
Stop with the we'll talk aboutthis later but stop with the
cliffhangers yeah, it seems tobe a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Stop it, stop it, can't we have it.
Can't we have a, a society witha good old survivor, where you
get a result every episode?
Exactly right, we'll talk aboutthat later too.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah just don't.
Don't mess with, don't messwith the format.
I mean I mean amazing racer todo.
Do that too.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
I know you don't watch that but a couple of
seasons ago, or maybe let thefans have a little input on the
format Survivor again, justsaying.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
I know, and yeah, we'll definitely talk about the
premiere of Survivor, thisepisode for sure.
But on Deal or no Deal Islandwe have David and Parvati, so
the challenge is basicallysimilar to there was another
show we saw that had a challengewhere they would leave somebody
.
Oh, it was traders, traders.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah, when they left them on the raft.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
It was similar to that.
Yes, very similar yes, and theywere just far less people.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yes, exactly that was like our week one traders when
there were still like 20 people.
That was like our week onetraders when there were still
like 20 people.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
So this is the point in the game where I think the
lesser kind of gamey playersshould get together and say
we're not going to let theseguys just steamroll us, and what
they should have done was leftPoverty and David first.
What are you doing?
What are you doing like?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
they probably didn't know what it fully entailed.
And when you know, at thebeginning you thought it was
like this, like long hike.
You saw all the strong peoplein the beginning.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
But I get what you're saying oh, I was like what do
you like, dude?
Like seriously, so yeah, they,they.
Of course they started leavingplayers and you know it ends up
when they they do a zip line.
A la mole, I mean mole had thatkind of challenge, which is
interesting, cause I'm afraid ofheights and I don't know how I
would handle that challenge, um,but uh, it ends up poverty, of

(07:00):
course.
And David get the last twocases and, of course, the two
highest amounts, so they bothsafe.
And now par was it?
David had to make the decisionon who to face the banker and
there was some discussion.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Poverty, poverty, oh it was poverty okay because,
remember, she made that's rightto get to the.
The last person to be leftbehind was Lachelle and she
basically told her, hey, we gotyou, but she also had told Dixon
, we got you, and she didn'tknow what was going on back at
the part where the other oneswere already left, which was

(07:35):
they got an offer if they couldagree between the four of them,
three of them wouldautomatically be safe for the
from the not elimination safe, but from the banker.
And then the fourth person wouldjust be out on the bottom up to
play the banker with whoevercomes back next, which then

(07:55):
happened to be Lachelle.
So little did poverty know shewas making an empty promise at
that moment to one of the twoyeah, I mean you have to be
careful.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Playing on a reality show what kind of promises you
make, because you're gonna haveto break if, especially if
they're they're, they'reparallel.
You have to break oneeventually and you know that's
not good for your game andpoverty.
I think poverty realized thisand um realized that she was
like in between a rock and ahard place.
She had her son, part of thefamily, dixon, which as a grown

(08:27):
man I would kind of be insultedby somebody calling me their son
, but I am a little older thanhim but still like, yeah, I
don't know um and uh.
So you know she has to choosebetween, of course, her son and
lachelle because, um, yeah, those were the two that were up
to face the banker.
Uh, the others weren't safe butthey weren't had didn't have to

(08:50):
play the banker.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
They're safe from the banker, right so she picks
lachelle.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
As soon as she picks lachelle, here's my thinking oh,
philip's safe, because there'sno way lachelle would have
gotten rid of philip.
And I'm watching the show, youknow, as you know, knowing
philip and a philip fan, andhoping philip gets far.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
And as soon as she picked lachelle, I'm like, okay,
philip's good this episodelachelle was gonna is gonna pick
someone that will send amessage, and it's not gonna be
philip she would have pickeddixon 100 to go home if she had.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
If she had one.
Unfortunately, you know, here's, here's my.
I'm all about doing good forthe group, but in that scenario
I wouldn't have taken that deal.
The odds weren't there, themoney was there and you know I
understand her thought processin adding money to the pot.

(09:40):
But at the end of the day andlisten, I mean it's a reality
show If I'm not going to benefitfrom that money being increased
, I'm sorry but I'm going to dowhat's best for you, she.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
On her way out she said that she felt the game was
getting to a point where it'sgetting a little brutal and she
didn't know if she had it in her.
I don't know if I buy heractually believing that.
I think that's to your point.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
She probably was not making the best decision, and
then she realized well whatever, this is what I'll say to get
out of it I'll say this how doyou go through the grueling
casting process and we know Imean for a game show it's not
even as bad and game show was alot of stuff that we had to do
how do you go through thegrueling, you know, a
psychological test, background, check, all that stuff and then

(10:27):
say, and towards the end of thegame, that you don't know if you
can do it anymore, like I don'tget that, like I don't
physically understand, let'slet's, let's play it out.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Let's say she said no , okay, worst case scenario, she
eliminates one case, there'sstill a 50 50 chance that it's
one and a half millions, theoffer still.
I mean the offer would havegone down, but it's not like it
would have gone down to zero itwould have been a pretty good
offer, and then at that pointshe would at least had a 50 50
chance to stay in the game, ornot, yeah, she had.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I mean, what was it?
One 1.75 million was in hercase 5.58 was the offer.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Okay, well, 1.75 was the second case.
There was also a 2.5 millioncase and then the one penny.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
And she had how much.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
The offer was 1.5 essentially, so it was basically
a pretty good offer from thatstandpoint.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
But her case was like 1.7 or something like that.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yes, at 1.75.
She had the 1.75.
Got like that yes.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
At 1.75.
She had the 1.75.
Got it?
I mean, I mean I get it.
But you know, I'm all in thatand I, I'm telling you straight
up If I was to play that game,I'm not taking an offer that's
less than 50% odds of winning.
Like I, I'm just not doing it.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
You're playing, playing to stay in the game.
And if you only add.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
If you only add 900, 000 or a million instead of 1.5,
but you stay in, that's betterand you're.
Listen, you're a stats guy,right?
I, I, I, you watch the showswith me, like I would say, a
good portion of the offers arelike 50 50.
I mean they don't really playaround with that, it's, it's
really it's always better if youcan get it, the odds in your
favor, which sometimes it is,but sometimes it's like better
if you can get it the odds inyour favor, which sometimes it
is, but sometimes it's like youknow there are three cases

(12:11):
higher, one lower.
He did that was a really good.
I kind of will do like.
I think that that's the bestscenarios when you're like a
three to one type of thing.
You know, and you, you have ashot and you know again, at the
end of the day you still couldlose that.
I day you still could lose that.

(12:33):
I mean, that's what odds areabout.
You know they're not full, butyeah, so deal or no deal island.
Uh, can't wait to watch therest of the season coming up
still rooting for philip andhopefully it works out.
So we now going to second base.
We gotta talk about traitors.
Oh my god, I was pissed.
I'm going to start that allright away.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
I was you alluded to it earlier in the episode, you,
I, I did not know it was cominguntil you texted me, and then I
was like, oh, no, dude dude theygot.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I didn't want to spoil it.
So here's what happened.
I was on instagram and realitytv fan, you know said you know
spoilers.
You want to be spoiled.
I'm like I don't usually wantto.
I don't know what it is.
My eyes went right down to theend of the thing because that's
where the spoiler was and I'mlike no cliffhanger and you
don't find out who this year is.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
I'm like what the freaking?

Speaker 1 (13:24):
hold on, hold on, hold on, not no cliffhanger I
mean, there's a cliffhanger,right cliffhanger, and you don't
know who the seer is.
And so I'm thinking, well, thatjust why bother watching the
episode?
Because, quite frankly, we knewthat britney was going to be.
She was going to recruitbritney because britney was
going down to the dungeon.

(13:45):
So we knew that was happeningand we knew, too, that Brittany
was not going to tell her no.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Right, I mean interesting.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Let me give a little perspective to this.
This season of the Traitors, filmed about two months after
Reindeer Games ended.
Wow, which is interesting.
Timing, timing and everything.
So for our listeners who mightnot know, um danielle reyes and
britney um were contestants ofbig brother and were on the only

(14:18):
season to exist of reindeergames.
And there was a point and Imentioned this before in
reindeer games where, uh,danielle and Brittany were in a
challenge and Dan and Brittanymade Danielle, gave Danielle a
handicap.
I don't remember exactly whathappened.
It was about the time with thewheel or something like that.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
It was like a 32nd penalty or something.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yeah, and Danielle went home.
That was it for Danielle, andso Danielle held this grudge
that did kind of seep a littlebit into the traders in the
beginning and so by the end ofthe day Danielle felt that the
only person that she couldreally trust in the game that's
left and honestly I thought itwas a no brainer is to pick
Brittany to to um to be a traderwith her.

(15:03):
I will say Danielle is not avery popular player from what
I've looked at social media andeverything else.
They think that she did carolynwrong, although I will argue
and counter argue that carolyndid carolyn wrong because
carolyn didn't play exactly thegreatest game either yeah, um, I

(15:24):
, I, I see both sides of it aswell.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I think that I I understand why people are upset
with danielle.
But to your point I will saythey're playing a game of
strategy and I'm sorry, butdanielle played it better than
she did, plain and simple.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
So I mean I think anybody who's in the in the
mansion still played the bettergame.
I mean, yeah, that's the way itcould be played.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Especially the part where they were answering the
questions.
I mean she walked Carolyn intoa trap and Carolyn sat right in
it.
So I mean she deserved it atthat point.
So they can complain all theywant, but Danielle Al played her
in that.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
And now I understand it a little more.
I just alluded to it in a textto you earlier.
I watched like a best ofcarolyn from her season of
survivor, so I got like a reallygood you got okay, just of
carolyn and I'm like who whosearches for their son's poop,
for the tooth that he swallowed, like.
That's like basically whocarolyn is and and her react,

(16:27):
like the tongue and theirreactions on survivor with she's
it's, I get it, I get it, I getit, I get why her worth
watching.
Yeah, and bam bam.
Is it bam, bam bam?

Speaker 2 (16:41):
bam.
Yep, he's the one that won theseason.
Legendary people on that season.
Yeah, yeah, and Carson, ofcourse.
I'm sorry.
I gotta correct that.
It's Yam Yam.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yam Yam, I'm sorry, bam Bam is the Flintstones.
Yeah, but yeah, I willdefinitely go back and watch
that season of Survivor.
So let's real quick on Traitors.
They do this challenge right, which is basically an
amalgamation of differentchallenges together, and they

(17:10):
brought back the stupid clownsagain.
The clowns and they basicallyhad to memorize what balloons
had money and what didn't, andthey collected money as they
went along and there wereseveral rounds.
If they wanted to go on or ifthey didn't bank and they got a
bad balloon, they would losetheir money and then they had
the creepy dolls in the secondround, they pulled the string

(17:33):
and the doll.
I was wondering how random thatwas.
That's interesting, the waythat kind of worked out and yeah
, you kind of all the amountswere the same in the order,
which was interesting too.
Um and then, uh, they had thecoins in the poop, or whatever
the coins were in.
They made it feel like it waspoop, whatever that was because
your Carolyn and Tooth story.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
It had you thinking about it right.
For the first time, though, wedidn't see who won the challenge
correct, which is odd we knewthe leaderboard through round
two, so we basically knew it wasbetween a couple people.
More than likely, because it'sonly $100 per coin.
How many more do you thinksomeone could truly?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Oh, I think Danielle won, and I think that's why we
didn't find out who it was.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
And Dylan noticed, noticing was paying attention to
how hard she was trying.
He brought that up.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Which bled into the um interesting round table yeah,
uh, oh, I alluded to it.
Uh, there, we do not get aresolution in the round table
either.
There is a tie.
Only because, you know, theonly reason why Ivar was even
voted on was because of doloresand they needed to get the

(18:49):
numbers and dolores wanted tovote for ivar and there was
nothing that danielle could doabout it.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
That can we briefly mention how unbelievable another
great game moment by danielle.
Soon as dolores said ivar outloud.
She looked at brit.
They subtly looked at eachother and both understood what
was needed to do and the factthat they did.
That is why we had thecliffhanger.

(19:14):
If they aren't smart enough topick that up, she's gone.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
So let me ask you a question and I asked you this on
text and we talked a little bitabout it.
Talked a little bit about it,it made the editing made it seem
like Brittany was going tochange her vote for Danielle.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yes, and that's what you thought, and personally I
felt opposite.
I felt that was probably justan editing trick.
I just don't see how it.
There's just no upside for agame move at that moment for
Brittany.
People already think Brittany'sa traitor, so keep her in as a
shield.
Option one, two, the whole Searthing if Danielle wins, she

(20:01):
knows it's not going to be her.
So if Danielle goes out andwhat if someone else gets to see
her and then can ask if it'sBrittany?
It could blow up her whole game.
Danielle in for a little longerat least makes sense.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
So let me ask you a question.
If it does end up as a tie andthey have to do some kind of
challenge, I don't see Ivarbeating Danielle.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
Is it a challenge?

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I thought he said it was up to chance.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Oh, I was thinking it was more of like that's right
toss uh, maybe that's what it is, I have no idea, that was just
the first thing that came to myhead interesting it's something
50 50, so maybe a coin toss.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
But so well, I'm trying to figure out what
britney's reaction was if it wasan editing trick, because she
was like shocked I think it wasmore.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
I think it was.
You know here's what I'm goingto say, and you'll know this
better than me but a littlething that we did.
There were moments where I sawyou on episodes that we were not
in studio for, so that couldeasily have been her reaction to
the first moment someone saidor you know what I mean that

(21:14):
could have been a shot fromeight minutes prior in the round
table I think I'm gonna.
I'm gonna hope that it'sediting.
I just don't see her betrayingher like that.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
They literally had me on.
We Are Family jumping up anddown to Joey Fatone folks.
I was not in the studio forJoey.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Fatone, there was an episode where you see both Cohen
and myself in the same spot, soit's all in the details.
And that obviously is notpossible because you took over
for going after right, we sharedthe same seat he had at first
and then it was mine.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah so interesting.
Um, yeah, we'll see whathappens on the traders.
Um, speaking of you know we'rejust talking about survivor.
Let's go right into thesurvivor season premiere
speaking of a show that doesn'tdo cliffhangers.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
This is how a society works.
Ok, we live in a quote, georgeCostanza.
We live in a society, yes, wedo.
We start, and you know what?
We're going to get?
A resolution at the end of theepisode, because that's what
Survivor does.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
Can we please have a beginning, a middle and an end
reality, people, please, mbc,for goodness sakes, stop with
this nonsense of cliffhangers.
We you started that with thatusa show, whatever that was
unanimous unanimous does.
Stop doing that.
Like, what are you doing?
They, they did it.
They did it with deal, no deal.

(22:42):
It's not fun, we don't like it,we don't like it.
Like, what are you doing?
Like, don't do that, don't dothat.
Um, so survivor doesn't do that.
I will say you know, having thegoat this is my third season
back now.
That we're why you know we,we've kind of it's survivor.

(23:02):
My only issue always has beenwith surviving.
I'll tell you straight up andwhy.
I kind of went off the beatenpath with survivor a little bit.
It is very hard in thebeginning to get into.
It is hard because thecharacters you don't, you're not
, you don't know anyone's namein the first episode.
Totally, it's very surface,right.
It's like I'm just watching abunch of people on an island.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
That's how the first episode, even the first several,
like three episodes at leastuntil you get more into like
story and drive and so it's hard, it's hard I and I get that, I
get that and that's why I thinka lot of the times it's worth
the payoff, depending on theseason.
But let's just say I think thatas far as this season goes, I

(23:47):
don't want to jump ahead totribal without talking about
some of the episode.
But I will just say to this, tothis point, that we're talking
about tribal started off hot, week one, hot I.
I can't remember.
I saw one of the I think it wasmike bloom, who tweets a lot
about this, about the social, the reality games.

(24:08):
I think he also said it where Idon't know there's ever been
this tense and in like big Iwant to say big tribal in week
one before, like it was crazy, that was wild, like that felt
like a like a week, you know,like a day 26, survivor tribal,

(24:29):
not day two.
You want to explain whathappened.
The season.
I mean we can, we can gochronologically through it, but
I just yeah, that just was apretty big opening.
I thought too, yeah.
So, by the way, I've only seenthe last three, so for sure for
you.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
But I mean, can we just compliment how beautiful
Tribal looks?
I mean the look of it alone islike unbelievable, like how much
work goes into this show.
Yeah, I mean it looked like avillage.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
I also thought that the immunity idols that they're
playing for were super well donethis year.
Yeah, super the detail on itwas really good.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
How I'm jealous that these they get to keep their
torches.
Their torches are actuallymailed to them after the season.
That is like.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah, what a nice little award.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
You know like, trust me, if I ever, ever go on
survivor, that torch is going tobe in the background forever.
Oh yeah, absolutely, or bigbrother, you'll get you know
whatever they send you the key.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, you know what the key the key could go right
over your left shoulder, rightthere below the picture of you,
and uh and and Regis.
Yeah, they're not.
You know, listen, big brotherand regis yeah, they're not.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
You know, listen, big brother call me.
They're not calling me, sophone lines are open.
I've heard people have gottencalls already for casting.
They have not called me, sothere you go.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Uh, they're waiting for and waiting for the moment
it's okay, you know what I'mgonna.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
I'm gonna apply for survivor 2, so we'll see how
that goes.
Survivor 51 let's go, um, butyeah, I, I, I.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
But anything you want to kind of talk about with the
episode other than tribal and um, one thing that I think we just
have to add talk about, becauseit was funny, but I definitely
noticed it when it happened andrewound it, and people on
twitter also saw it as well.
But did you notice?
I think I sent it to you.
Maybe I didn't, but did you see?

(26:30):
Jeff took a face challenge, god, just absolutely face planted
and played it off very well likehe did.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Nothing happened.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
It was so it was so quick that a casual viewer, or
like you know, or you're likelooking at your phone would have
never noticed it.
So during during someeagle-eyed other people out
there, people were so quick withit that I I didn't even bother
to video it because it wasalready up and yeah, peep, so

(27:01):
just to kind of he.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
It was during the challenge.
He ran into a device and hebounced off of it and landed and
then bounced right back up likealmost like you, he like the.
The device was blocking him andyou could see him kind of scoop
up and just act like nothinghappened yes, I was like, wow,

(27:24):
he bounced.
I love to see another camera.
I liked it during a reunion, maybe to see another camera
angle of that.
Oh man, another anothermomentous thing in this episode
real quick is uh, we can nowvote for elements of survivor 50
, which I did.
Um, did you vote for the livefinale coming back?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
because I did um.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I think I voted no for that one interesting I I
love the live finale one way oranother.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
I just, I just kind of like the them relishing in
the moment of it, right afterthe game ends, and them doing it
.
But I mean, yeah, you know, Iguess if they the the old way
the live finale, they would waitmonths without knowing who won
yeah, I love that yeah, I, I,yeah, I'm.

(28:17):
I was pretty neutral on it, butI think I did vote against it I
think it's gonna win.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
I think they're gonna .
I think that element I do thinkyou're right on that and I, I,
I like the purple color andthere was some debate.
Apparently people thought itwas pink or purple and it was
purple.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
I like that color scheme because I haven't really
seen that yeah, that one wasanother one where I didn't care
too much I did.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
I want to continue the fire making.
I like the fire making part ofthe game.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Um yeah so, and it's, it's.
I think it's an importantstrategy too, for I've mentioned
it before, but there's a seasonrecently where that is a big
decision to be made that I don'twant to spoil.
What was the fourth question?
Again it was.

(29:08):
I can't remember it was nothinghuge.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
It was the live, like you said, the live vote.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Oh was it?
It was the rice question.
Oh, I said no, they should earnit.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
I said they should earn it.
I mean, that's a staple of theshow.
Why should they?
They should work for it.
These are all stars that aregoing to be on the show.
These are people that havealready played the game.
They need to earn it.
Listen, I think it's going tobe.

(29:45):
It adds a fun element to theseason 50 to watch in real time
Our votes, kind of come out andsee how it plays out.
So, cause we won't find outuntil that season airs and if
they do bring the live finaleback with 50, that so 50 is
going.
So 49 and 50 are going to tapethis summer.
That means 50 won't air.
So they're going to have to waitsix months, like you said,
because that, not even more thanthat, because it's gonna tape

(30:07):
in like june and they're notgonna find out until like may so
50 would air like right now itwould air it would be the second
one, right, it would be latefebruary, which which works out
for them because they can hypeit as much as they want in 49
and yeah, but then they'rewaiting to, yeah, like eight
months, nine months almost.
Some locks, you think for 50?

(30:29):
I think Seri is absolutelygoing to be on 50.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
I would be surprised if she wasn't, it would be hard
to not see her, or Sandra, atleast one of them.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Sandra Seri, I think Carolyn too.
I found out the trader'scontract is only 6 months.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
I wouldn't be shocked if Carolyn doesn't get the nod
well that one wouldn't surpriseme as much.
She was a little morepolarizing, if that's fair.
I agree whereas someone likesay Seri or you know Poverty and
Jeff loves Seri say Seri orPoverty.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
And Jeff loves Seri.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, I mean, seri's one of the best players ever.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Yeah, and she plays her brother too good.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
What if Seri did?
It can't be 50, but what ifSeri got to do something with
her daughter?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Well, you do know that interesting that you bring
this up because I wanted to talkto you about this.
The Amazing Race after the nextseason is doing a whole season
of Big Brother contestants.
Sari was a Big Brothercontestant.
It's very possible that wecould see Sari on Amazing Race
to complete the trifecta.
We've never seen a Survivorplayer on the Amazing Race.

(31:46):
I don't believe.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Oh interesting, I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
The big brother we have.
Yeah, so I think maybe I'mwrong.
I'm sure one of our listenerswill correct me if I am wrong,
but interesting.
So we'll see how that kind ofplays out yeah, yeah.
So I'm looking forward to theseason of survivor me too, it

(32:10):
will of course be wild we had abig fight already, so it should
be a good season we'll betalking a lot about it on this
podcast and, uh, can't wait totalk more and more and more
about it.
Um, all right.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
So, moving on to another one of our guilty
pleasures, I will say rightabsolutely, and I had a lot of
fun ones at least for me thisthis week um the floor, the
floor.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
So the floor, as on fox.
Um, it's hosted by rob low andI was watching it and I was
thinking lots of charliecharacters, I mean categories.
Um, yeah, when I saw sportsmovies I was like, oh my god,
charlie is gonna be like boomboom, boom boom.
They didn't do that well no,they did not.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
that episode seemed like I was a writing credit on
it somehow, I don't know how.
But I mean, we had sportsmovies, we had college
basketball teams.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
That's another one Like oh my God, I know.
It's a Charlie Seymour episode.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
They were just missing.
They were just missing likecheese pizza places you can get
pizza from.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I was watching it I was like this is Charlie.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
It's like all charlie , like almost all charlie yeah,
I mean there was in and therewas also another category.
That was easy.
There was like what was it like?
Everyday items or something, orwhatever it was was just like
literally naming an object I haderica in tears as I'm trying to
do the math one it's.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
It's a multiple case.
Erica's really good at it and Iwas like making her laugh, so
she was like trying to get thenumbers out.
I was like what, what?
And it was just funny.
It's very, we're very,interactive.
When we were watching it and Iwas like I think it finally came
to one.
It was like five times two, I'mlike.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
I was like you got one so you would have been
eliminated in that one, huh ohmy god, uh, dude, it was so
funny, so funny.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
But yeah, the floor, uh, the floor on fox, watch it
check it out.
So had uh, we had brian winanother 20 we did they just
handed him that money and uhfrom the spoilers this time, and
so he added two more pieces toit from the spoilers I I see
that there is a player that getsto like 120 or something like

(34:44):
that, like, so I think that'sbrian.
I mean the way it's looking 120I mean wait, wait, so 60, uh,
another 20, another, yeah, yeah, there's a player that keeps
winning that.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
So I think it has to be him.
There's no way.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Someone, everybody else has zero they basically
gave that away like oh I didn'tnotice that was that in the
trailer yeah, in the season.
Yeah, it's like, and we've hada player who wins and wins, and
wins, and I'm it has to be Ryan.
Yeah, so interesting.
I will say the way the floor isdesigned.
You could play the greatestgame, but you just have to lose

(35:19):
one duel and you're done.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Absolutely, it's very hard.
Take 120.
That's almost.
I will take a hundred Half ofwhat the winner will get.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
You know it was a very poignant moment when he did
the confessional and he wassaying you know, a lot of people
say I'm an actor, I have a lotof money, he goes.
No, I mean, I struggle justlike everybody else.
And he was literally almost intears and I was like, oh you go
dude, you go dude.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
I'm rooting for him.
He's like he said he wanted tobring me to his family.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Yeah, yeah, so I mean great, Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Also in some of the funniest movies.
He's a big storyline.
You got to be rooting for himAbsolutely.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
And we forgot, you know, in our movie episode to
ask the professor about him.
Oh yeah, yeah, we'll ear nextone definitely, definitely, um,
and that's another thing, if youhaven't already listened, we
have uh out.
We had a great episode with theprofessor sam frank, who goes
we go through a rundown of allthe movies that are nominated

(36:19):
for best picture and for otherawards and we talk about some
honorable mentions that did notget nominated.
That that sam likes and it wasa really great conversation with
him.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
So check that out on wherever you get your podcast
did you miss any movies that youwanted to mention that you can
know out here I was hoping youknow there's.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Well, there was a movie real quick at um.
That was at uh, the torontofilm festival.
That hasn't really come out yet.
It's called the luckiest manalive and the movie is about um,
an ice cream truck driver whogoes on to win a record amount
of money on pressure, luck, thegame show and uh oh yeah I've
been waiting to see that movieand how it comes out.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
So yeah, but that's one movie that I am excited is
one that I thought appropriate, since we've mentioned it before,
was we didn't mention saturdaynight, but I think we have, oh
love that movie that was a solidone as well so good.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
So you know great thing about saturday night is
it's basically in real timeright leading up to the premiere
of the premiere episode, and uhyeah, also inside out too.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
We mentioned a lot of fantastic animated movies.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Another one too strong year for animated movies
definitely, um, and if youmissed, you know, check out the
episode for sure, if you missedit.
But you know, sam mentioned uhin particular.
Uh, you know, don't forget thehundreds of beavers.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
So yes, of course I'd be remiss if we didn't shout it
out, because he it's his lifemission to make sure more people
see it exactly.
Support that mission I'm infact I'm gonna say that I will
watch it in the next week or two.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
I will too.
It's on my immediate list.
I will too, so check out ourmovie Oscar preview special
that's out with Sam.
I had a great time with him andthank him once again, charlie,
for joining us.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Absolutely, it was very fun.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Yes, definitely, and you make sure you get some rest
because I know you've got a nicedrive to see your fourth spring
training stadium tomorrow, yes,I'm headed to Fort Myers to see
the Red Sox and the Twins, andthen on Sunday the Mets are
playing the Red Sox, so I'mexcited about that.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
We are officially the calendar month in which
baseball starts.
How about that?
Yes, how about that Spring isin the air?

Speaker 1 (38:36):
When are the?
When are the Tokyo games?

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Very close.
They're like the 17th and 18th.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
The Chicago Cubs versus the Los Angeles Dodgers
live at six o'clock in themorning from Tokyo, or actually
five o'clock my time or no,seven o'clock my, something like
that.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Is it seven?
Is it seven?
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
It's.
You said it was some ungodlyhour.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
It's, it's six, 10 year time.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
So it's five, 10 year time.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
That's okay, You'll be out.
It's the 18th and 19th Tuesdayand.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Wednesday All right.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
So spring training is still going on.
Oh yeah, the Cubs have.
After those two games againstthe Dodgers, they play five more
spring training games.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
Wait, wait, wait, wait.
Let me conceptualize this realquick before we sign off.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
We're playing spring training.
Wait, wait, wait, before anyoneelse plays another game we're
playing spring training games.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
They're doing two regular season games in tokyo
and then going back to springtraining.
Yep, have we ever done thatbefore?

Speaker 2 (39:41):
no, oh, actually I do think that did.
They did do it one year withthe when they, but it might have
been in mexico or somewhereelse that's crazy like that
boggles my mind.
And here's something even toboggle your mind more, because
not everybody has an opening daygame on Thursday when the
season starts.
Some teams play Friday.
The Cubs could have three winsbefore a team's even played,

(40:04):
because the Cubs play Thursday.
In Arizona they have a fourgame set which we will be at.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Yes, I'm excited for that.
I'll be in New York when youguys are in Arizona.
Let me ask you a question, technical Okay.
Don't they have to finalizerosters before the season starts
?
How does that work if we'restill in spring training?

Speaker 2 (40:24):
So basically for this for them, they will basically
within the spring trainingroster temporarily.
They will temporarily have a 26man that they will go to japan
with.
I think they're allowed tobring two extra players with
because of injury or whateverthey need to do.
So I think they bring 28 withthem as like extra and then when

(40:48):
they go back, spring continuesand then theoretically, people
could get injured or someoneelse could switch and make the
team and it'll be interestingwith the cubs because at least
one, if not two, of theirinfielders will probably not be
ready for japan.
They should be ready for arizona, but nico horner being one of

(41:08):
them, he for sure will more thanlikely not be ready, and then
possibly matt shaw.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
So theoretically, the cubs are already going 27, 28
men possibly so so they're notdoing like a split squad thing
where they're going to playspring training and then do the
regular season games.
They're going to just pausetheir spring training activities
go with.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
We'll still be working out in Arizona, but the
Cubs won't have enough playersto be fielding a game.
They have just the two regularseason games and then obviously,
the travel day before and after.

Speaker 1 (41:39):
Go Cubs go, go Cubs go.
Hopefully it goes like springtraining Knock those Dodgers out
, I'll be wearing my Cubs hat.
You better believe it, I'll bewearing my Cubs hat you better
believe it.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
Hopefully it goes like spring training has so far.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
No losses, fingers crossed, all right.
