Now let's get this showstarted with our host, Eric G. And
John Dudley.
Welcome to the around theHouse show.

(01:48):
Your trusted sews for homeimprovement information.
Johnny, how we doing today, brother?
Good to see you today.
Yeah, I'm good, man.
How you doing?
Good, man.
Excited.
It's.
It's the weekend after Turkey Day.
We're all fat and happy, feeling good.
You're like, oh, it'sThanksgiving because you're in Colombia.
Yeah.
And I'm finally out of themountains, so I'm not wearing four

(02:09):
layers of clothes.
I'm actually.
It's kind of hot today.
Nice, man.
I love it.
I love it.
Now that we've kind of all got our.
Our bit of family out of ourhair, and it's the holidays and we're
full on into it, I thought, let's talk about the Black Friday
deals that were happening overthe weekend here.
That, and the hard part withthis is I can't just say, hey, come
down to my local business, because people don't care what's

(02:32):
going on in Portland whenyou're in Long Island, New York,
or Hawaii or whoever else iscatching us on the radio or podcast.
So I figured almosteverybody's got Amazon, so if you
want to find it at your localstore, feel free.
But I thought, let's grab iton Amazon and come up with our top
10 buys.
Because I did a bunch ofdigging here to see what I could
find on Amazon, and these arethe best deals I could find out there.

(02:53):
Maybe you can buy somethingfor dear old dad or mom or your brother
or sister or heck, you're theonly one doing it.
Buy something nice for yourself.
Either way, that dive onAmazon is a deep rabbit hole, my
friend.
Oh, my gosh.
I was doomed scrolling forhours on this.
God.
Oh, that's cool.
How do I cut it down to 10?
Find out here.
We'll find out.

(03:13):
So let's dive in, brother.
The first one here that I sawwas a really good deal, and this
is where you can get stuff.
There's a lot of products out there.
And, you know, this too.
But there's a lot of productsout there with a minimum advertised
price that they can say, that's, hey, we.
That's why when you go aroundthe stores and you're looking at
something, you're like, why isit always $99?
It's because they can't sellit any less than their dealer agreement.

(03:35):
That's.
That's the bottom price.
Yeah.
With appliances, you're like, everything's the same.
That's because they sell itthat way.
But this is that time of year.
We can save some money.
So on Amazon, I found these.
Lutron Diva smart dimmer switch.
And this is the Casita lighting.
It's the hub.
This is the perfect smart homestarter pack for people.

(03:57):
And what I like about it is itworks pretty much just about in any
house.
And the other thing I likeabout it, too, is you can save some
money, too.
And so Lutron, to me, for theDIY homeowner grade, is like the
perfect kind of starting pointbecause it's really simple.
Once you wired up like aregular switch, now you can sit there

(04:19):
and I like it for exteriorlights, Johnny.
So let's say you got a porchlight and you're tired of turning
off and on, or you don't wantto mess with it, or you leave it
on all night and you're like,oh, man, I wanted to turn that off
again.
Right?
You want to save some money, you punch in on the settings on it
and go, I want this to turnoff a half hour after sunrise or
Turn on and 45 minutes beforesunset, whatever.

(04:41):
You set it, and itautomatically knows where it is.
It's smart.
You can grab your phone, andwhat's cool is you can turn that
off and on from your phoneanywhere in the world.
So it's cool.
So nice.
And for 99 bucks, it gets youthe switch.
It gets you the.
Their little hub that runs allthe rest of them in the house.
So it's a great starter deal.
And instead of 125 bucks, it's 99.95.

(05:02):
So that's a pretty good deal there.
It's like a cool parent gift, right?
It's cool for anybody, butit's like a thing where, like, your
parents would be, whoa.
Wow.
Really?
Holy crap.
I can actually turn the stupidoutdoor light off automatically.
Absolutely.
It's crazy.
And so it's.
For me, it was awesome becauseI could sit there and change things

(05:24):
when I'm traveling.
For instance, I can look onand turn the light on, turn the light
off.
And if you do it inside.
Here's the fun part.
If you want to mess with thekids when they're in the living room
watching tv.
And your other part in thehouse and they're watching some Stephen
King novel, you could flickerthe lights really cool.
Get all ghosty on them.

(05:45):
Oh, yeah.
You can sit there and just boom.
And they're terrible, man.
Really fun.
You can really mess with them.
Mess with them a lot, which is fun.
So, yeah, everybody needs alittle childhood trauma.
Come on.
Yeah.
Got nothing to complain aboutif you don't have any trauma there.
So let's have some fun with it.
So let's have some fun.
And that's.
I don't know.
To me, it's fun to play aroundwith that stuff.

(06:06):
You're just having fun withthem and who cares?
So they'll be fine.
Yeah, they'll be fine.
Builds them stronger at that point.
Now the next one here, Ithought is a deal for a starter toolkit.
And Amazon's got this onelocked in Craftsman V20 cordless
drill driver kit, half inchbattery charger included.

(06:29):
69 bucks.
Yeah, dude, I saw that one onthe list.
I was like, what?
20 volt and half inch?
Like, it's.
Yeah.
For 69 bucks.
Yeah, yeah, it's cool.
What I like about that is thatone, it saves you some serious money.
Two, it's Craftsman, which ifyou take it out of the case, it's

(06:51):
just DeWalt on the inside.
It's made in the same factory.
Is.
I'm gonna date myself a littlebit, but I didn't.
Craftsman always have likelifetime guarantees on all their
tools.
So like wrenches and stuff.
I remember that.
Stuff.
Yeah, so pliers, all that stuff.
Back in the day when therewere Sears stores around, there might
be a one around, but yeah, they sold that whole brand to Stanley

(07:14):
Black and Decker.
Okay.
So Stanley Black and Decker, which is the parent company for DeWalt,
it's now Craftsman, all thatkind of stuff.
Like I said date myself alittle bit.
You are.
But that's okay.
We all.
Craftsman tool set with mySears card in 1988.
Eric.
Okay.
So I could work on my 74 Blazer.

(07:37):
Nice.
Minus 77.
I know.
Like, that is.
I know what's working on those.
You know, you need tools.
A lot of them.
Yeah, a lot of them.
But really, come on.
For 69 bucks, that's.
It's regular 99.
And I thought it was a gooddeal at 99, but it comes with a,
you know, a 2amp hour battery.
So it's that battery is worthmore than 69 bucks if you jump on
the website.
So that tells you that's agreat deal.

(07:58):
And I like that.
So that's a cool one right there.
Before we go out to break, Ithought we'd jump on one more here.
It's another Craftsman.
And by the way, nobody'spaying me to be doing these.
This is not sponsored stuff.
This is stuff that I gothrough and went, that's a good deal.
So Craftsman oscillating tool.
So it's your basic oscillating tool.
This is a plug in one, butit's 3amp, includes a universal tool

(08:21):
free accessory system, blade, sandpaper, and tool bag.
Now it's corded, but it's 41%off at 70 bucks.
So 69.99.
Wow.
And that's.
Yeah.
Some of those handy tools youjust always need and you never knew
you needed it for the 17things you find to do with it.
Dude, seriously.

(08:41):
And it's corded.
And I'm not the biggest cordedfan, but if you're on a budget or
if you're just doing stuffaround the house, who cares?
But really, 41% off for that.
And it comes with the bladesand the sandpaper and all that stuff.
That is basic DIY toolkit.
From cutting off a bolt tosanding, to scraping, they make a

(09:02):
blade for everything.
Yeah.
It's my favorite demo tooltool, by the way.
Really?
Here's why.
If I want to cut apartdynamite excavator.
Right.
That works well too.
But really, when you'resitting there and you want to just
cut something apart withoutruining the wood, you want to just
cut the nails right off.
Put a metal blade in there, you go right between there.
Saws all get the job done ifyou're throwing the wood away.

(09:25):
But if you want to be a littlemore surgical versus a little more
sledgehammer esque, you canreally cut stuff off quick.
Nice.
Now, I saw a hack that was alittle shocking the other day that
I don't know if I could do it,but I'm gonna try it on mine.
They come out of the tool andthey offset, right?
Yeah.
They've got a little bit of aL shape and command.
Guy put two blades next toeach other so there's a half inch

(09:48):
between them.
He reversed one and then hewas cutting out drywall to put electrical
in the wall.
Wall.
Ah, nice.
And on the drywall.
And I'm like, that's kind of trick.
I don't know if that worked,but I like It.
Yeah.
Slick idea.
Yeah.
I was like, all right, I seewhat you're doing.
That's trick.
Here comes my electrician joke.

(10:08):
Right where you go.
Yeah, that's too fast andprobably too clean.
Yeah.
How I can't justify my costwhen I can do it that easy.
Yeah.
It's funny.
I saw on one of theelectricians Instagram sites they
had a new tool that was.
Came out by my.
By Milwaukee.
And it was a push broom for electricians.
And I just thought that wasfreaking hilarious.

(10:28):
Nice.
Insert construction jokes here.
All right, John.
And we come back.
I got some really cool oneshere and I wanted to talk as well
here about some projects orsome products that we can give to
the relatives.
Maybe what we can give andmaybe what we can't give.
That might be a bad idea.
Let's talk about that.
When around the House returns, don't change that dial.

(10:48):
To find out more information, head to aroundthehouse online dot
com.
Don't change that dial aroundthe House.
We'll be right back afterthese important messages.

(12:10):
Welcome back to the around theHouse show, your trusted source for
home improvement information.
Thanks for joining us today, guys.
Guess what?
We've been talking holidayshere, but if you want to find out
more about us, head over toaroundthehouse online.com and we're
gonna have this list up hereas well on the website.
We should have it up there bythe time you hear this.

(12:31):
And here's one otherdisclaimer I want to put in here.
Some of these items could betotally sold out by the time you
hear this, especially on the radio.
This stuff can air over 24 hours.
So these sales, they could be gone.
They could be there.
I have no control over that.
So if this deal is gone onAmazon, take a look, it might come

(12:53):
up.
We'll have the links there.
But it's just hard to say.
Some of these things are sogood, they could sell a thousand
truckloads and they had 900and all of a sudden now they're out.
So I want to blame it on you.
You never know.
So you never know.
But if anything, head down toyour local home improvement store,
your independent contractorstore down there, wherever you buy

(13:15):
your stuff and take a look andthey what they got on the shelf if
it's not on Amazon becausequite frankly prefer you give those
guys the business anyway.
So maybe this can inspire youon the list.
The next one here, man.
Johnny.
This is probably one of myfavorite buys.
And I tell you what, I likecool, fun tools.

(13:37):
And this is a Good one.
Bora speed horse sawhorses.
Yeah.
Nice.
These things are so tough.
I've got these here.
I'm pretty hard on sawhorses.
You could set it up singlehandedly, 1.6 seconds and they hold
1800 pounds.

(14:00):
Wow.
And they fold up super easy.
You can make.
And they've got adjustableheights so you can really do some
stuff with it.
It makes it super easy to work with.
I absolutely love these line.
I think I bought them 79 or 80bucks a piece at Home Depot.

(14:20):
They have a two pack for 107.33.
Nice.
And guys, when you want tofind this stuff, head over to aroundthehouse
online dot com.
We'll have the list up here onthe website so you can find it and
I'll put a link up on socialmedia as well.
But 107, 33, 37% off regular170 bucks.
That's a killer dealconsidering how many I saw it in

(14:44):
half a year.
That's like the Stanley.
90%.
Yeah.
The bad part is once you cutthose in half or cut enough of them,
they just start to turn into yellow.
Yeah, they just turn into jello.
So absolute garbage.
These here, you'll know whenyou hit that heavy steel with that
saw blade.

(15:04):
Yeah, this is a big difference.
Big difference.
It will let you know, you'llgo, oh yeah, that's what it is.
That's what it is.
And let's see, let's go backto the list here.
That's one of my favoritesright there.
And when we're getting intothings like this, depending on who
this is for, that's a, that'sactually a great gift there for family,

(15:25):
for dad, mom, whoever outthere is handy.
That is a good one.
Now if we go to the next oneon the list here, this is another
good one.
And I like this one becausewho doesn't like home security?
And I think home security canbe fun when you're dealing with this

(15:45):
stuff.
And this is an indoor camera, right?
This isn't the one like we'lltalk about the other one here later.
But this one here I think iscool because what you can do with
this is, it's an indoor camera.
So you could put it in inside, plug it in so you can plug it into
your computer or wherever elseor wifi.
And this thing here will rockfor you.

(16:07):
And what I think is cool aboutthis, it's cheap, 39.99.
And this is for a 2K indoorsecurity camera.
But the cool thing is you cansteer it so you can pan tilt it two
way.
Audio, night vision, person tracking.
So I think what's cool for this.
What did I do with mine?
I had mine in my shop so I cansee if anybody had gotten into my

(16:30):
shop.
I could zoom around with it.
So if somebody is pokingaround the tools, they weren't hiding.
I mounted up the ceiling andthen I could see everything that's
going on.
And for 40 bucks, really easyto work with and fast supports.
Apple HomeKit, Alexa, IFTT,all that good stuff.
So it is a super smart way togo cheap tracking of your tools.

(16:53):
If it's going in the garage, you could put it.
Be careful, guys.
Privacy concerns are always big.
Let's be honest.
We don't want to be puttingthis any creepy places.
But if you've got grandma outin the living room and you're trying
to keep an eye on her and youwant to make sure, get her permission.
And hey, let's put a camera inthe living room.
That way you can talk to us,we can talk to you if you've got
an issue.

(17:14):
Might not be a bad way to go,but super, super easy to work with
and easy to operate right offthe app.
So again, super easy.
40 bucks.
I like it.
Yeah.
Nice.
And who doesn't like getting a camera?
Come on.
Come on.
That's a fun one.
That's a fun one.
Before we go out here, I tellyou what, Johnny, this is another

(17:34):
one of those that, you know, you get get into these lists.
And I tell you what, I reallygot stuck on this list because I
just kept going down the list.
This one here, I can tell youwhat this is their other outdoor
camera.
And the thing that I likedabout this is it has 4K night vision.

(17:56):
Wow.
Yeah.
Except when I've got peoplepoking around my hot tub naked.
Let's put it that way.
Yeah.
Not as cool.
Yeah, I apologize for that.
Wasn't you.
Actually, I'm not entirelysure who it was.
We'll leave it at that.
But it wasn't me and it was inmy hot tub.
It's always interesting whenyou're on a vacation and you can

(18:16):
see what's going on in yourhot tub.
But anyway, a Cora 4 megapixel camera.
It's the hub, so it helps with that.
Pro wi fi true color nightvision security camera, outdoor.
And all I'll say was the fullmoon was out last that night when
I had that video camerarunning full moon.
And this works really well.

(18:37):
And it has notifications.
You can set it up 119 bucks.
But it is meant to go out inthe weather, so it's a great way.
It has.
And actually what alerted mewas I had on my phone, I was sitting
there and my phone, I had itin sleep mode and all of a sudden
I was getting these pushnotifications saying person lingering.

(18:58):
I said, I'm sorry, dude.
Yeah, the camera was justhanging around.
It was just doing its thing.
And so we're sitting theregoing, hey, there's somebody standing
around outside.
That was on the back of myshop where the, where that was.
So for me, somebody hangingaround the back of my shop is who's
trying to break in the glassdoor in the back, right?
Oh no, I'm four hours awayfrom home.

(19:20):
So I'm, I'm out.
And sure enough, yeah, therewas somebody using my hot tub.
But this is a great way to do that.
If you want to keep track ofstuff going outside.
You can watch animals, thedeer, the elk, the raccoons, the
mice, whatever you're tryingto check out there.
It's really a smart way to goand I think it's a really good buy
for what that is.
And yeah, it's super cheap.

(19:41):
And having those notificationsis super cheap, handy and important
as proven in your case.
Yeah, absolutely.
And again, works through ahomekit secure video.
There's a couple differentways you can do this, which I like.
So they make this camera withkind of two options if you go down.
And it's just a really goodway to go.
I think it's one of thosethings that when you start looking

(20:03):
at these expense.
It used to be very expensiveto do this and now you could put
a couple of these camerasaround and it's super cheap and they've
got a couple different configurations.
So make sure you look to makesure that you've got the right one
for what you're doing.
But I tell you what, they'vegot wifi versions and so then they've
got the poie support as well.

(20:25):
So you can go a coupledifferent ways with it.
But I tell you what, it's agreat gift and especially if you
got kids moving out and youwant to do some secure stuff.
And I think it's first timehomeowner, great stuff to have.
All right, Johnny, let's runout to break real quick.
I have got some serious bigsavings here.
We're taking like hundreds ofdollars off for pretty inexpensive

(20:46):
stuff coming up which is goingto be super cool.
We'll talk about that just assoon as around the house returns.
Don't Change that dial.

(22:23):
Welcome back to the around theHouse show, your trusted source for
home improvement.
But I'm Eric G. Johnny Dudleyand I are sitting here talking about
some of our favorite thingsthat we're finding here on a deep
dive of Amazon for those BlackFriday sales, holiday gifts, whatever
you're looking for.
It's a great time to buy toolsand things for around the house because

(22:43):
sometimes that they just givethese things out way cheaper than
what you would normally seeany time of the year.
And before we get into thelist, John, I do want to thank one
special station on our radionetwork work because this is our
Last weekend on AM860 theanswer Portland, our hometown station
here in Portland, K Pam andour friends over there and I just

(23:06):
want to say thank you to them.
We are actually returning towhere around the House was originated
from 37 years ago, which isover on 101 KXL in Portland.
And we are changing back overto that and we're going back home.
But there was been a number ofyears now that salem media and 860

(23:28):
the answer Portland has reallyhelped us out.
When KXL was going through itsstruggles with Alpha Media and their
bankruptcy, all of us weekendhosts, one weekend or one Friday
got the boot and KXL came inand things happen.
This is radio.

(23:48):
We went over to KPAM and thoseguys really helped us out over the
last, geez, seven, eightyears, however long it's been.
And my thanks to all theamazing people over at Salem Media
for helping us through over there.
And we are now changing backover to the OG station from 10 to
noon on Saturdays on KXLOregon, much bigger footprint.

(24:10):
So you guys out and out at thecoast out in the Dalles that we're
having sometimes a problem onAM getting us now you can get us
on FM or just the podcast.
So we'll be coming back over there.
It's gonna be a lot of fun.
Wanted to touch on that onebecause my sincerest thank you to
Chris Kelly and all the peopleover there that I've been working
with over the years at Salem Media.

(24:30):
They've been great.
Johnny, let's talk about the list.
You need this, please, youneed this one.
This next one has got yourname written all over it.
Dude, I want it actually.
Okay, 54 off.
It's.
Yeah, that's.
Yeah, that's about as good asit's gonna get.
Yeah.
And yeah.
So always trying to be selfsufficient, deep cell battery guy.

(24:52):
Just leave me alone.
And I'm thinking these I couldprobably still record music and keep
a light on for the dogs.
And that's really all I needto cook with gas.
Come on.
Yeah.
So look it up.
This is made by our friend.
I love that it comes with the panel.
Yeah.
So this is a jackery solar generator.

(25:12):
A thousand version, thousand watt.
Basically it's solar generatorModel thousand version two with 200
watt solar panel.
And then it has a 1070 watthour portable power station with
the Life PO4 battery.
1500 watt AC, 100 watt USB Coutput, one hour fast charge for

(25:33):
outdoor off grid living.
RV or emergency.
54% off for 599 regularly.
1300 bucks, dude.
Yeah, that's a steal, man.
So it's all you need.
It's got the solar panel thatfolds up into its own little case.
And then you've got this powerstation here that takes.

(25:54):
You can plug in threedifferent 110 outlets into it.
On the AC side, if you want togo DC and just run everything off
of USB C or USB A, you can dothat as well.
But these things are so cool.
I have a version of this myself.
I got to get back from my kidactually late.
Backup power.
You know, it's cool.
You know it's cool when thekid steals it.

(26:16):
She loves taking it for bigconcerts and stuff because when they're
camping.
Yeah, of course.
Oh yeah.
You can plug a blender into that.
Absolutely.
Margarita Day.
See, you're all good.
You're all good.
But what a deal for 5.99.
No, that's slick.
Yeah.
So if you want to find outmore about this thing, guys, just
head over to our websitearoundthehouse online dot com.

(26:38):
We'll have the list over thereso you can.
With links and all that stuffso you don't have to worry about
trying to write it down.
Now the next one here, thatone's a really good deal.
With that kind of money off of it.
The next one here I think isreally important, especially if you've
got that contractor.
And I'm going to share thisone with you here, Johnny, because
this is funny.

(26:58):
This is one of those ones, acontractor that never shows up at
the job site that you're like, hey, why aren't they here?
It's either two things.
They had a flat tire or theycouldn't jumpstart their vehicle.
So this is one of thosehandheld batteries.
That's the car jump starter.
So it's a 4000amp jump starterbattery pack that'll work up to an

(27:22):
8 liter gas and 7 liter diesel engine.
Wow, man, that's slick.
Look at that.
So all you do is just plug itin the wall, charge it up, and then
you just come over, set itright on there and give it a second.
It'll tell you when to go.
And you can charge your phoneand any other thing off of it.

(27:44):
But, man, I tell you what, these can be a lifesaver when you're
having electrical issues oryou got that car that's just a little
pesky and doesn't want to start.
And especially in the cold.
I think it's a great thing.
This is a great tool to put insomebody's their go bag or their
winter weather driving bag.
Or I have one of these likethis in my bag that I keep in my

(28:06):
truck.
That's just that emergency kitwith the first aid kit and some of
the stuff in there.
So you've known me for a lotof years, Dage.
Some of the cars I'm on, 67Volkswagen buses, things like that.
You know what it's like tohave to wake up a freaking roommate
at 5:00am and go, Dude, I needa chump.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Exactly.
Exactly.

(28:26):
And 40 bucks.
$40.58.
57% off.
Yeah.
I wish I would have had one ofthose pretty much my entire life.
Dude, I got one in literallyin my toolbox in the truck because.
Just so nice to have.
And if somebody else needs tojump in your biome, you don't have
to get all the.
You don't have to get your carjammed in there.
Yeah.
Let me get the cables.

(28:47):
The cables aren't long enough.
No.
That's super slick, man.
Took us long enough to come upwith that one.
Yeah.
And come on, 40 bucks?
Geez, no.
What's a tow truck gonna costyou to come out and jump it over
that?
I was just gonna say if thatsaves your butt one time.
Dude, it's.
You've told your money.
It's 4,000amps.
There's plenty of power in that.

(29:08):
Yeah.
If it saves you an hour tryingto track down a jump start or the
embarrassment of asking somebody.
I used to be really shy aboutthat in the parking lot or something
like.
Oh, man, I don't want to bugsomebody for a joke.
Yeah, no, for four bucks.
Handy in my veto sheet.
Yeah.
And by the way, it's going tosave you an hour and a half because

(29:31):
I don't care if you're callingAAA, a tow truck, whatever else.
It's 90 minutes for somebodyto get to you.
Yeah.
No matter where you are.
That's almost as good as newsocks, this one.
Here you go.
That's my favorite on the listright there.
All right, There we go.
40 bucks.
Easy peasy.
All right, now you know what I want.
Dude, that's awesome.

(29:52):
That's awesome.
Now, the next one here I thinkis equally fun.
This one might be a good onefor you.
All right, you ready for thisone, Johnny?
Here we go.
Everything to do with power isa good one for me, it would seem.
This is gonna get better.
This one's getting better.
Check out these Bose Comfort earbuds.
Quiet Comfort earbuds.

(30:13):
I don't want to talk aboutthis one.
I've got mine in right now,and I paid $400 for mine, so I'm
a little irked by this one.
$29 bit.
And mine are 3 years old.
I'm like, ah.
So these are the BoseQuietComfort earbuds.
True wireless Bluetoothearbuds with active noise cancellation,
a mic, USB, C charging, IPX4 ratings.

(30:34):
So if you drop them in thetoilet, they're good for a minute,
which.
I've done more than twice.
Absolutely.
Who hasn't?
Who hasn't?
I'm serious.
I did, like, more than twice.
I've dropped mine in the toilet.
They're still working afterthree and a half years.
And I will tell you, thesethings are magical.
Like, the first time I putthem in, felt like somebody put a
vacuum in my ear.

(30:55):
I tested them out in a clubwith a booming DJ going.
I was like, oh, my Lord.
I had no idea this was possible.
Yeah, just go silent like alibrary in your head.
You're like, you gotta bekidding me.
Yeah, they're amazing.
Amazing.
For 129 bucks, I'll buy twopair because my dog always likes
to eat one pair.
Oh, of course.
Yeah.
28 off.

(31:16):
100 regular.
179 bucks at the Bow storehere on Amazon.
That is killer.
Yeah, no, those are amazing colors.
If you want the black ones, these are the blue ones.
They have pink, they got white.
Whatever you want.
And if you get those foranybody on your list, you're getting
a giant hug because they're awesome.
I get a little Crackle Mineonce in a while, but I think it's
just because they're old.

(31:37):
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And a couple visits in thetoilet, and then 90 times I've dropped
the case on the floor and theybounce across the room.
Brutal.
Brutal.
I'm pretty good at breaking stuff.
I fixed my phone screen theother day for the 17th time and cracked
it in two days again, like, Ijust harbor stuff now.

(31:58):
You and I both.
Hey, when we come back here,Johnny, let's run out to break.
We've run over.
We'll talk about the last bitson the list and of course, maybe
the presents you presents youmight not want to get.
Family members.
We'll do that just as soon asaround the House returns.

(34:07):
Welcome back to the around theHouse show, your trusted source for
home improvement information.
If you're just joining us,Johnny Tudley and I have been sitting
here talking about really coolBlack Friday sales gift ideas, that
kind of stuff for people out there.
If you're out shopping thisweekend, we got one here and we're
going out to break.
We were talking about howthose mobile jump starters can really

(34:29):
save your behind right whenyou need to, especially if it's cold
outside.
That battery just didn't workas good as it did when it was 40
and now it's 20 and it's not getting.
But I think I've got the bestgift here.
If you didn't do the jumpstartright, Johnny, I can see this.
So, Johnny, you're not payingattention to the instructions.
You pull the leads off thejump starter, you put it in your

(34:52):
pocket, 4,000amps of powercrack off in your back, and this
next gift is ready for you.
The Cardio mobile One leadpersonal EKG monitor.
It's just, it's only going totell me I'm in trouble.
Then I got to use the jumpstarter to get myself back up off
the ground.

(35:13):
Well, wait a minute, wait a minute.
The jump starter is not adefib device.
You don't just put.
Are you sure?
Have you tried it?
Not yet.
Not yet.
But I think.
Where's Steve O when you need him?
He'll give it a whirl.
Brutal.
But the Cardio mobile One leadpersonal EKG monitor, basically what
this is, it's a medical deviceyou can get for $67, you can literally

(35:37):
put your thumbs on this thingor your fingers on this thing and
it will give you a medical ekg.
One lead EKG from home.
So I think it's a really goodfirst aid thing if you've got, if
you're a workout person or youare sitting there, you know, maybe

(35:59):
people in your house could bea good thing to have just charged
up ready in your go bag.
But I think a, it definitely,it'll detect afib and other common
arrhythmias from home.
So if you're having.
Wow, my heart's not feeling right.
Open the app up, touch yourfingers on this, records it, and
it'll tell you what's going on.

(36:20):
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Pretty amazing.
Yeah.
Basically, you just throw iton the countertop, it shows here,
and you just put your twofingers on it, hold it down, it'll
run that, and then you'll see.
And, you know, you hear it onthe radio all the time for 79 or
99, and they got it on herefor 67, which is pretty cool.
So, you know, why not?
Ever since Kovid has gottensome weird heart stuff, man.

(36:42):
And this, that'd actually bereally slick for her.
I would be too scared.
I'd never use it.
Yeah, you don't want to know, though, brother.
I know you don't want to know.
Dude, but it's FDA cleared, sothis is not some, like, little snake
oil kit.
This is actually the real deal.
Yeah.
For real.
That would be great for my mom.
She's gone to the doctor acouple of times thinking she's having

(37:02):
heart attacks over the lastcouple of years just because she
got Covid so severely.
Yeah.
And did affect it.
It did affect her heart, andthey had some concerns.
But this could have saved hera couple of trips.
That would have been super handy.
What a great idea.
Yeah, it's really cool.
I've heard on the radio be advertised.
And when I was doing my deepdive, I went, hey, that's a cool

(37:22):
one.
That's a cool one.
So I like, actually go ahead.
We just said that.
We just went to the emergencyroom the other day.
Kat was walking down thestreet and was like, got dizzy and
felt weird, and I got herstraight in the taxi.
We went to the hospital, butlike, it was that she said, heart
feels weird.
I feel dizzy at that.
That would have been super handy.

(37:42):
67 bucks instead of.
Well, doctors are cheap down here.
But I was gonna say here's your.
1500 bucks just to go get thathooked up in the doctor.
So spending 67 bucks and saveyourself the trip.
Right.
Yeah.
That's definitely cheaper thanyour co Pay is probably going to
be for most people out there.
For most people.
Johnny, I want to hear yourlist here.

(38:04):
What do you have for maybe or experience?
What do you say people shouldmaybe think about maybe not getting
family members or loved onesfor the holidays?
I will tell you a quickchildhood trauma that I survived
and learned from.
It put a great impression on me.
My.

(38:24):
My grandpa one year.
Well, my grandma and grandpawere like this, but my grandma probably
all year heckling the poor dude.
I want a new vacuum I need anew vacuum.
I need a new vacuum.
Grandpa thinks he a great idea.
She's gonna love this new vacuum.
It's got every contraption andevery magic switch you could imagine.
This is 1975, mind you.

(38:46):
So it's probably a vacuum trap.
Go ahead.
And my grandma cried anddidn't speak to him for three days.
So don't get your wife a vacuum.
It will not go over well nomatter how much she wants a new vacuum.
That is not a Christmas present.
That is a mandatory obligationthat you as a man need to purchase

(39:07):
for the household.
Not for Christmas.
It's like getting the lawnmower.
The guy goes, it's a lawnmower.
Thanks.
Is that a hint?
Yeah, yeah.
That's just a.
It's.
It's not a tool for the collection.
Yeah, it's not cool.
Yeah.
I mean, it's the.

(39:29):
Even then there was plenty ofsexist back notes on that.
That could be fence too, even40 years ago.
So I get that.
I think the other trap is.
And you and I have talkedabout this before.
Oh, we're not going to geteach other gifts this year.
The no gift.
The no gift mind read thatyou're supposed to pull off.

(39:53):
Dude, I legit don't do it.
I legit don't do it.
Okay.
No gifts.
No gifts.
Cool.
And then you're in trouble.
And I'm okay with being in trouble.
Dude, you said no gifts.
I don't know how to read your mind.
Forget it.
No gifts is no gifts in my book.
Yeah.
And that's the whole family.
That's not just like your galor your wife.
Yeah.
The whole family pulls that trip.

(40:13):
Right.
And then there's always theuncle that shows up with a little
something for everybody.
So you feel like a big jerk.
You said no gifts.
What?
Oh.
But yeah.
Yeah.
And the problem is, isfamilies get bigger.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
Can't get everybody a gift.
Even if it's five bucks.
Suddenly it's, you got 100bucks going.
Yeah.
200 bucks.

(40:34):
You're like, come on.
It's crazy, man.
You're sitting there.
And again, the white elephantcan be fun.
When everybody gets together, that can be kind of fun.
There's always that personthat breaks the rules.
Okay.
We're to keep it under 35 andsomeone's got a hundred dollar something
in there.
Right.
Somebody buys a trip to Bora, you're like, oh, thanks, dude.
Now everyone's a jerk but you.
Yeah, absolutely.

(40:55):
We had rules.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's the Thing and again, bevery careful.
I think for many people, themore personalized, the more intuitive.
Like gift you can get.
Now, not just the gift card.
A gift card's an easy way, especially if they're out of town.
And like for instance, my sonand his wife.

(41:16):
I'm much more likely to getthem a gift card because one, if
I buy him something, they'refour states away and I haven't been
through his shop to see what'sin his garage.
I'm not asking or get involved.
So sometimes the gift cardscan work.
But really, if you really wantto be thoughtful, think about it.
Think about something thatmakes their day better without having

(41:37):
to buy them a tool to do.
You don't want to get them atoilet scrub brush or something like
that.
That's.
Yeah, I honestly, the thing.
I don't know.
I. Oh, I could go on a wholerant, Eric, but I won't.
I will say that I got waybetter at feeling no guilt over not
buying something for somebody.
If I didn't see something andthink of them, I didn't go out buy

(42:02):
five pounds of coffee and fivecoffee mugs for everybody in the
family that day when you go tothe Christmas party because we don't
need it.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
If I wanted to do somethinglike that.
Go buy somebody lunch whohasn't eaten in two days.
Like I'm not.
You and me, we don't need anything.
My family, we don't want for anything.

(42:23):
And we go around wastinghundreds of dollars on silly petty
stuff.
That.
Oh, another Starbucks mug thatI break within three months or it
sits in my in a box in thegarage for three years.
One of the two.
It's wasteful.
Well, take Johnny before we goout and this is like on Father's
Day and the same thing fordear old dad or even dear old mom.

(42:45):
If they are a Milwaukee or aDewalt or what name that.
If they're a tool person thattakes their tools seriously.
Please do not go down to thediscount store and buy the no name
brand of hammer.
Right.
They're never going to use it.
They're going to throw it away.
They're now having to keep itbecause if you come over they want

(43:06):
to see it, let you know thatthey kept it.
Yeah, the 15 piece screwdriverset that's still sealed and you haven't
opened because Absolutely.
The first time you use it, it.
Yeah.
Go direction.
If you can't keep up to theirlevel, that's good.
Think about something else.
Maybe get some.
There's a gift card idea, right?
Hey, I may love tools.

(43:27):
Here's Home depot gift cardbecause I can't afford a whole table
saw.
But here's towards, here's 50bucks towards your table saw or go
buy a.
New blade for the one you gotor whatever that is.
Let's not we the last thingyou need is more clutter and crap
out there.
Get something went out somenice warm socks.
I don't know.
Socks are my favorite still.
Mom gets them for me every year.

(43:48):
My favorite present everyyear, socks.
There we go.
That's it right there.
