years old and recently I waswatching a clip about him in
Nirvana on Conan O'Brien andtalking about the influence he
was on the band and the greatmusic he has given us.
He's worked with bands like theBreeders, the Pixies, jimmy
Page and Robert Plant.

But check this out right here Were you guys,
because I know Kurt was veryvocal about thinking that never
mind, yes, huge hit.
But he thought the productionwas too slick.
We were cruising in this vanand I think we were listening to
Surfer Rosa and then, and Kurtwas sitting there in the chair,
and he raises his finger andmakes a decree.

He goes this shall be our snaresound.
And so that's, that's SurferRosa, the yeah, so that's made
by yours truly.
Yes.
And then he, and then that'sthe.
There you go that we ended upin working with steve, so I
wasn't super familiar withnirvana.

I had heard like the ubiquitous stuff that everyone
that was being played on theradio and all the clubs and like
every gig you would go to asyou were loading in the sound
guy would put Nevermind on tocrank the PA and balance the PA.
So I had heard the album manytimes, sort of secondhand right.
I wasn't a student of Nirvana.
I was familiar with theircircle, like all the other bands

in Seattle that they were, likeyou know, compadres with, like
the Melvins and the Mudhoney andall those other bands.
I knew those bands and I wasfamiliar with the sound but I
couldn't admit to being a fan.
I became a fan of Nirvanathrough the process of working
with them.
