GlaxonXIII (00:00):
My name is
GlaxonXIII.
(00:02):
And this is my Pokemon story.
WELL DONE! Yes, let's go! Welldone! Will I be able to do it?
(00:26):
Let's see! That's it, you didit! Thank you! Well done, Thank
you for watching!
David Hernandez (00:43):
Welcome to As
The Pokeball Turns, where every
voice, every journey, and everymemory brings us closer to the
world of Pokemon.
My name is David Hernandez, andtoday I'm joined by a passionate
creator, teacher by day andstreamer by night, recognized as
the notable trainer by ThePokeball Company and known for
his shiny hunts, hot takes, andsignature backwards cap.
This is GlaxonXIII Welcome to AsThe Pokeball Ball Turns.
GlaxonXIII (01:07):
It is a pleasure to
be here.
Thank you so much for invitingme.
I can't wait to do this withyou.
Congrats on such an awesomeshow, man.
I've listened to a coupleepisodes, so, thank you so much
for having me on, man.
David Hernandez (01:17):
Thank you.
And I'm always kind of humbledwhen people say that'cause I'm
like, I don't know what to saylike this.
Like just thank you.
That's really all I can say.
And I'm always appreciative forpeople who listen to the show.
I don't know why y'all listen tome for so long, but thank you as
always.
But because I have a lot ofguests, you know, I've done so
many episodes, they always callthemselves a weeb.
Like they take that with pride.
You are the Hmm.
You call yourself a fake weep.
What is I do.
(01:38):
hilarious or surprising momentthat kind of made you earn that
title?
GlaxonXIII (01:42):
So when I first
started, my creator journey, I
was actually playing KingdomHearts and other square annex
JGs, but I don't watch anime atall.
so a lot of my, my viewers, mycommunity members would like jab
about.
Anime and I'd have nothing toadd to the conversation.
So, that sort of group kind ofmeshes usually very well.
(02:06):
The JRPG community and then theanime community.
I'm not part of the animecommunity.
I just love video games andJapanese video games.
I don't watch anime.
I just don't.
David Hernandez (02:14):
Is,
GlaxonXIII (02:15):
So, um.
David Hernandez (02:16):
why, like, you
just don't like the style or you
just never appealed to you kindof thing?
GlaxonXIII (02:19):
I mean, it just,
yeah, it just never really,
there's so much and it's sointimidating, like, to get into
it as late as I would have, youknow, it's just didn't.
didn't have the time, to commitreally to anything.
So like the stuff from the Cchild, my childhood, like
Pokemon and Ugi and Dragon Ball, like I watched those, but like
you get into like more of theadult animes.
(02:40):
No, I'm, I, I never got intothis.
David Hernandez (02:43):
I mean you
mentioned like some of the
classics, like you go in DragonBall and of course Pokemon,
which is why you're here.
I
GlaxonXIII (02:47):
Right.
David Hernandez (02:48):
was those kind
of shows you for you growing up?
GlaxonXIII (02:51):
Oh, that was like
instant wake up Saturday, turn
on like WB or Cartoon Network, wherever Pokemon was playing.
That's what I had.
That's, that was on in thebackground all day long.
that's just like where the lovestarted.
I was a Gen Warner.
I'm showing my age, but I wasthere for the start of it.
I was the core demographic thatPokemon,
David Hernandez (03:13):
I mean, what
was it about Pokeball anime, I
guess what you call it.
I know you don't call yourself aweed, but you know The Pokeball
cartoon.
What was it about that that youremember that kind of got you
hooked at that early part?
Oh,
GlaxonXIII (03:22):
Oh, just like seeing
how Pokemon could be outside of
battling was like like justreally cool to me in that
generation, because you know, nowadays in a lot of the more
recent generations, they, theyperform things outside of
battle, but that was not a thingin Gen one.
So seeing Pokemon and peoplelike coexist in the show was
(03:42):
like really cool to me.
So that was.
Definitely what grabbed me intothe show, but now it's just
become like commonplace, to seethat stuff happening in the
games and the shows andwhatever, so.
David Hernandez (03:53):
I know you say
you don't watch the anime,
obviously, and you're part ofThe Pokeball community.
'cause you know, you, we'll talkmore about it later.
You're a Pokemon
GlaxonXIII (03:58):
Mm-hmm.
David Hernandez (03:59):
uh, Pokemon
Streamer I should say.
GlaxonXIII (04:00):
Mm-hmm.
David Hernandez (04:01):
kind of feel
the pressure from your audience
to kind of di tip your toes intoanime side of things?
Or do you kind of just it andsay like, that's just not for me
at this point?
GlaxonXIII (04:09):
so I do get a lot of
people referencing things that
are happening in the anime.
and I have, again, not much toadd to that conversation, but,
I'm on their socials.
I see clips of things all thetime, you know, without watching
the full show.
so, you know, I have a, asomewhat clear understanding.
Like I know what kind of likestory arc points are happening,
but I'm just not watching ithappen in, in real time, you
(04:31):
know?
so like I'm very tuned in towhat's happening on the show,
and the Japanese version is likethree seasons ahead of the
English version anyway, so like, you're seeing it all happening.
David Hernandez (04:41):
fair
GlaxonXIII (04:42):
It's like
David Hernandez (04:42):
whether
GlaxonXIII (04:43):
whether you're
watching it or not, you're,
you're seeing things that arehappening.
So.
David Hernandez (04:46):
I guess to get
you more acclimated to something
you're more, familiar with.
You talked about how you GenWarner so It sounds like you
played the games where youcollected the cards.
What did that kind look likewhen you started transitioning
to those?
GlaxonXIII (04:56):
it was kind of like
a boom, like, suddenly it was
everywhere.
and I wanted to be a part of it.
So like anytime we would go getmilk from like a seven 11
somewhere, I had to leave with apack of cards, you know?
David Hernandez (05:08):
Really?
GlaxonXIII (05:09):
Yeah, that was like,
how, that was, like how it was,
A lot of people don't know this, but when it first came out, the
way you got Pokemon cards wasnot from a card shop, it was
from seven 11 or like, quickmark where as you're checking
out, they just have a boosterbox sitting on the counter
David Hernandez (05:23):
just
GlaxonXIII (05:24):
just pull a pack out
and you get like individual
packs that way.
Obviously if you were an adultin that time, you could probably
find booster boxes somehow someway.
But like I was not an adultduring that time, so I didn't
know how that process worked.
David Hernandez (05:36):
I remember
something similar'cause I would
always go to the Walmart and for
GlaxonXIII (05:39):
Mm-hmm.
David Hernandez (05:39):
they always put
The Pokeball cards with the
cigarettes and so it was like alittle room next to the carts
and that's where you had to getThe Pokeball cards.
They had like a behind a glasscase, I guess.
They said they wanted both
GlaxonXIII (05:49):
Yeah, I was like
locked up.
Yeah.
David Hernandez (05:50):
yeah.
Yeah.
So that's how I remember gettingthe cards too.
It sounds very similar.
GlaxonXIII (05:54):
It's crazy how we've
come full circle.
'cause now they're behind glasscontainers again.
David Hernandez (05:58):
need me behind
vault at this point.
GlaxonXIII (06:00):
God, it's like a
invisible fence.
Shock collars on everybody thatgoes in the store.
David Hernandez (06:05):
limit.
It's
GlaxonXIII (06:05):
it's bad.
It's terrible out there.
David Hernandez (06:07):
need, really
needs to limit one but box, but
GlaxonXIII (06:09):
Yeah.
David Hernandez (06:10):
But I guess you
said you were buying the cards
at that point.
were there any kind of cardsthat stuck to your mind or were
you trying to like just collectthem all?
Like what was that
GlaxonXIII (06:17):
Oh, I.
David Hernandez (06:17):
for you?
I was
GlaxonXIII (06:18):
I was collecting
anything and everything that had
Pokemon on it.
I have like a very vivid memoryof, a card called Shining
Steelix.
It was like one of the firstshiny cards.
and I loved that it was like agold Steelix and my friend like
convinced me to trade him forsomething and was definitely
like looking back on it was notworth the trade at all.
David Hernandez (06:39):
And a
GlaxonXIII (06:40):
A month later, I
pulled it again,
David Hernandez (06:42):
So
GlaxonXIII (06:43):
so I got it back
anyway,
David Hernandez (06:45):
Do you still
have
GlaxonXIII (06:46):
so yeah, it was, it
was insane.
I, I ended up pulling two ofthem, but I only have one to
speak of, so.
David Hernandez (06:51):
that's one more
than a lot of other people.
That's gotta be kind of
GlaxonXIII (06:54):
Exactly.
So I feel bad if anybody wascollecting, I'm sorry, I got two
of them.
David Hernandez (06:58):
But one's with
a friend though.
So it's not like you have
GlaxonXIII (06:59):
Right,
David Hernandez (07:00):
at the, with
you at some
GlaxonXIII (07:01):
exactly.
Right.
David Hernandez (07:02):
does that
Steelix still hold kind of
memories too?
Like you still look back on itand still remember that times.
GlaxonXIII (07:06):
Oh yeah.
I mean, anybody who wascollecting back then, it's kind
of hard because again, we werekids.
We, we were lucky if we put themin sleeves, if we would,
David Hernandez (07:16):
if
GlaxonXIII (07:16):
if we were
organizing'em, if we didn't just
throw'em in a box somewhere.
Like we did not have, I mean,I'm speaking for myself, I guess
here, but, I did not have the,the sight of like how much these
would be worth in the future.
so I didn't really take the bestcare of a lot of mine, but I did
have binders, so I actuallystill have a childhood binder of
(07:36):
all my good hollow cards.
I've gotten some of them graded, but a lot of them are still
sitting in binders, so hopefullynot the worst, uh, you know,
condition.
David Hernandez (07:45):
Well, I mean
obviously the TCG still stayed
with you, so let's stick withthat for a bit.
GlaxonXIII (07:50):
Yeah.
David Hernandez (07:50):
like about the
trading card, specifically about
Pokemon, and you forget aboutthe scalpers, just forget about
that in general, what do you
GlaxonXIII (07:55):
Yeah.
David Hernandez (07:56):
The Pokeball
card aspect that's kept you
engaged on that side?
GlaxonXIII (08:00):
Okay, so I played
the game a little bit when I was
a kid.
but I don't play as muchanymore.
that is why I'm so thankful forthings like TCG Live and Pocket
right now.
it makes it so much moreaccessible, but I still find
myself collecting the cards forthe art.
I did not appreciate the artwhen I was a kid.
but now it's like you see theseagain.
(08:22):
What really drew me in was likehow these creatures interacted
with their world and the peoplein the world with them.
That's what drew me to Pokemon.
And you know, when you seethese, the art of these Pokemon
doing Pokemon things, like, it'sjust cool to see the stories
that the creators are buildingaround them or the artists are
creating around these Pokemon,So I'm really, I'm really
(08:42):
interested in, in collecting, certain artists I'm interested
in collecting, all the rarestcards just because, you know,
I'm a shiny hunter.
I like rarity.
I mean, that's just like Mything.
So, but yeah, I could appreciatesome common cards as well.
But, uh, I know I know a lot ofpeople that collect Koori cards,
which is the artist that doesthe clay models.
so yeah, I mean there's just alot to appreciate in the TCG,
(09:04):
uh, as an adult that you justdidn't really, as a kid, as a
kid you're looking for yourfavorites or you're just trying
to get'em all, you know, likethe whole thing was gotta catch
'em all.
So
David Hernandez (09:12):
Took that
GlaxonXIII (09:13):
we took that very
seriously.
David Hernandez (09:14):
Uh,
GlaxonXIII (09:15):
Uh,
David Hernandez (09:15):
do to this day
sometimes.
Yeah.
GlaxonXIII (09:17):
exactly right.
We are still on the prowl.
We gotta get'em all.
David Hernandez (09:21):
It kind of,
GlaxonXIII (09:22):
So,
David Hernandez (09:22):
me of a dark
slow bro in a way.
Um, that's always been my car towear.
I didn't care for it that muchbecause it's like the one with
the neon glow green and thesteam rock in the
GlaxonXIII (09:29):
yeah.
David Hernandez (09:30):
But I kind of
appreciated it more as I got
older.
I was like, why is it green?
Kind of question.
That's what,
GlaxonXIII (09:34):
Right,
David Hernandez (09:35):
I asked that
question, why is it green?
It could have been blue, itcould have been purple, it could
have been anything but green.
GlaxonXIII (09:40):
right.
David Hernandez (09:41):
I appreciate
more of the vintage cards'cause
you know, that's what I grew upwith and especially the art
nowadays is just incredible.
Like just seeing
GlaxonXIII (09:48):
Oh my gosh.
Getting full arts.
I could never imagine,
David Hernandez (09:51):
Well, I wanted
GlaxonXIII (09:52):
you know?
David Hernandez (09:52):
of artists do
you collect by?
'cause you said you look forartists specifically, which ones
do you collect and
GlaxonXIII (09:57):
Um.
David Hernandez (09:57):
a reason.
What's the reason why I, how didyou say
GlaxonXIII (09:59):
I'm a huge fan of
Kda because he's, he's more
recent to the TCG, but, his artis so cool.
it's just, it's very different.
Like if you see a card, youknow, oh, that's kda, and Koori
is obviously a, a classic.
and she's been working with themfor a long time, so.
If you gotta collect thosecards, you're, you're gonna be
in it for the long haul.
(10:19):
They, they don't like move onfrom artists as much.
and also you gotta give it tothe goat, uh, ARITA, the OG OG
Charizard artist,
David Hernandez (10:28):
now going back
to the game side of things, you
know, you were collecting TCG,what did the video game side of
your journey look like?
GlaxonXIII (10:34):
Oh, I was, I was
there for all of it.
So cards, games, merch, bedsheets, you know, you name
it.
I was there for all of it.
Video games, not the least ofwhich, I mean,
David Hernandez (10:42):
was,
GlaxonXIII (10:43):
I was, one of those
kids that got both.
I got red and blue,
David Hernandez (10:46):
Oh,
GlaxonXIII (10:47):
and I actually still
have'em.
They're actually sitting next tome.
I have my red and bluecartridges sitting right next
to.
Oh yeah.
Yep.
My childhood cartridges aresitting right next to me.
I, I love them, man.
I was all over it.
one of my, one of my coolestthing one day I like strolled
into like second grade and theyhad those like Game boy carrying
cases.
(11:07):
I don't know if you know whatI'm talking about, but like, it
was like a sling bag, but justfor a game boy.
And I I walked in with my linegreen and had a Pikachu stitched
onto it.
And I came in there and I likeripped off the Velcro and
started playing my game Boy, andeverybody flocked over to see
what the heck I was doing.
Uh, it was, it was the coolest Ihave ever felt.
(11:31):
so I was, I was all over thevideo games, man.
That's,
David Hernandez (11:34):
opposite.
I was always worried somebodywas gonna take it or it was
gonna get confiscated from theteacher.
So I always kept
GlaxonXIII (11:38):
you know what?
That's fair.
David Hernandez (11:39):
Yeah.
GlaxonXIII (11:40):
That's totally fair.
But yeah, I did not have anytrouble strutting my stuff, so
David Hernandez (11:45):
After the
original initial launch of
Pokemon, did you keep going, like into Johto, the Hoenn?
Like what did that look like?
GlaxonXIII (11:50):
You know, that's a
great, point here because,
talking about my Pokemon story,right?
Like I was all over gen one.
I was all over gen two, genthree, gen four.
As soon as Gen five came out, Iwas at that age where I was
like.
This ain't for me anymore.
That's for little kids, youknow?
David Hernandez (12:08):
gen
GlaxonXIII (12:08):
five and gen six, I
had a very tough time getting
into, I've since then, you know, gone back and played through
them all, and five and six aresome of my favorite generations.
but yeah, gen five was reallywhere it was like, you know
what, that's for babies, youknow?
David Hernandez (12:24):
Now was it kind
of the age thing or just
something with the games itself?
Like what was
GlaxonXIII (12:27):
Yeah, it was like,
you know, you couldn't be seen
like, you know, you couldn't beseen with a, a, a video game in
high school.
You know, like that was backwhen like being a nerd was bad.
Now it's like, being a nerd isreally cool.
It's the in thing, right?
So, yeah, yeah, no, it was, itwas definitely like a social
thing.
It was not really, I still likePokemon.
I still had Pokemon things.
(12:49):
I still played the old games, but.
upfront, you couldn't see meplaying Pokemon at that age,
during that generation,
David Hernandez (12:56):
when you went
back to play'em, I guess A, what
led you to do that?
'cause it could have been easyjust to overlook it, but B,
GlaxonXIII (13:02):
right?
David Hernandez (13:02):
what was the.
impression that those games lefton you.
'cause you said they're some ofyour favorites.
GlaxonXIII (13:06):
Oh yeah.
So, um, I forget what year itwas, 2019.
You could fact check me, when, let's go.
Pikachu and Eevee came out, Thatis when I first started getting
back into streaming.
and, that was like what I wantedto stream.
I was like, man, I, I, I shouldrevisit Pokemon.
And I was like, gen one remake.
So I was like, you know what?
Yeah, this is, this is cool forme.
and then I went back and playedthe ones that I had missed.
(13:28):
it was because I startedstreaming and becoming friends
with people that were reallyinto Pokemon.
Like I was, that I was like, youknow what?
I missed out on a lot.
Lemme go back.
because when I was in college, that's when it was cool to be a
Pokemon fan again.
so that's when like Gen sevencame out.
So I was playing gen seven.
I got those when they came out.
And obviously Sword and Shieldand, and Scarlet Violet.
(13:50):
I never got to play black andwhite or x and Y.
as soon as I fell back in lovewith Pokemon, I was like, you
know what?
I gotta fall in love with thewhole thing.
And I sure did.
And it was before they were likehundreds and hundreds of dollars
to get my hands on.
Uh,
David Hernandez (14:03):
a little
cheaper Back in the days.
Yeah.
Oh
GlaxonXIII (14:05):
God.
Yeah.
It was a lot easier to get myhands on.
So I picked some up and went totown with my old Ds and I was
like, dude, this is, how did Iskip this?
it was just, it was such asocial thing, you know, like my
generation has been through allof it, the rise of Pokemon, the
like dip in Pokemon and the riseagain.
You know, it's just been a crazyride.
David Hernandez (14:27):
Now, you said
you got into streaming in 2019.
What made you want to startstreaming on Twitch and even
more so Pokemon?
GlaxonXIII (14:33):
So I had actually
been on the, news team of a very
popular Kingdom Hearts newswebsite.
kingdom Hearts happens to be onmy favorite game of all time,
like, sorry, Pokemon.
I joined the news team.
I was like one of the firstpeople to report, Big Hero six
being in Kingdom Hearts three.
I got to, go to E three, threeyears in a row representing that
(14:55):
news website.
back when E three was in person, just to report on Kingdom
Hearts, three and 2.8.
I was deep in it, so I wasstreaming that sort of stuff.
And then got to a point wherelike Kingdom Hearts was not
releasing any new games, andthen after Kingdom Heart three
came out, I was like, okay, whatdo I stream now?
So like January 2nd, 2019,kingdom Hearts three was like
(15:17):
all that I was playing.
And then in February and thenMarch and then April, and I was
like, okay, I'm bored of this.
And then let's go.
Pikachu.
Evie came out and I was like, you know what?
Let's stream that.
I love Pokemon, right?
And the rest is history.
I did not stream any moreJapanese role playing games
after that.
David Hernandez (15:35):
You know, so
you got the whole Kingdom heart
experience.
You got to go E three year, three years in a row.
You're a streamer.
You're one of them coolteachers, aren't you?
'cause I'm trying to wonder howyou're still a teacher at this
point.
GlaxonXIII (15:44):
I was a teacher, uh,
starting 2016.
So yeah, I did have a job atthat point.
Yes.
David Hernandez (15:48):
saying, like it
just seems like you, are you
like one of the cool teachers?
Like, oh my gosh, this teacher,he streams like, do they, does
your students
GlaxonXIII (15:53):
I mean, you're gonna
have to ask the kids that I, I
mean, I'd like to think so, but,you know,
David Hernandez (15:57):
I wasn't
GlaxonXIII (15:57):
I feel like I'm a
little biased.
David Hernandez (15:59):
your kind of
escapades and stuff you do on
the side, or do you kinda keep
GlaxonXIII (16:01):
Uh, you know what,
unfortunately, yes, they do.
And you know, they're, they're14.
I teach 14 year olds.
David Hernandez (16:07):
worse.
Yeah,
GlaxonXIII (16:07):
Yeah, exactly.
So like they're the ripe age, like where they would be all
over Twitch and, and TikTok andall that stuff.
So it's hard being a teachercreator.
It is, uh, you feel like there'sno separation of work and, and
home and stream.
It's all connected.
So it's very, yeah, it's veryfrustrating at times.
But, um, but yeah, they do, theydo appreciate it.
The, the ones that aren't jerksabout it.
(16:29):
They appreciate it and, and theythink it's really cool.
one of my philosophies ofteaching is that kids don't
learn from people they don'tlike.
so I try to be likable.
I don't try to, you know, bethat guy so, so to speak.
David Hernandez (16:42):
you nicer than
me.
I'd rather be that guy.
If they're gonna hate me, I
GlaxonXIII (16:44):
Yeah.
David Hernandez (16:45):
they give'em a
good impression.
GlaxonXIII (16:47):
You know what I
mean?
That, you know, sometimes yougotta, you gotta flip the coin a
little bit, so.
Uh, you know, I have sides andthey know that I, and they know
that.
So they choose what side of methey get.
So,
Hey you.
Yes, you with the ears.
Don't go anywhere.
We'll be right back.
Love hearing real stories fromreal trainers.

David Hernandez (17:31):
Well, let's
dive into your favorite Pokemon.
So what is your favoritePokemon?
Why?
GlaxonXIII (17:35):
So my first favorite
Pokemon ever was Tangela.
David Hernandez (17:39):
That is such an
GlaxonXIII (17:40):
I like to call'em TT
Lansbury.
I made, like my first ever emailaddress was Tangela, blah, blah,
blah.
David Hernandez (17:47):
The only one
who probably made their name.
GlaxonXIII (17:48):
I, yes, probably, I
don't think I even needed the,
the numbers afterwards.
I think I would've been safewith just that.
but he was my first favoritejust because of the mystery
behind him.
Like, what the heck is under thevines?
You know?
David Hernandez (18:01):
Okay.
I could see that.
Okay.
GlaxonXIII (18:02):
Um, but my current
favorite, and I don't know when
this change happened.
But, Hitmonlee is my favorite, like ever.
He will always be my number one.
it will never change and it'sjust, it's been such a cool
journey because when we weretalking about cards,
David Hernandez (18:18):
One
GlaxonXIII (18:18):
one of the things I
did during COVID was collect
every single Hitmonlee card andexistence
David Hernandez (18:24):
Oh,
GlaxonXIII (18:25):
in the TCG.
No matter like what generationit came out, I looked them all
up.
I made sure I had'em all.
And that is the beauty of havingsuch an obscure Pokemon as your
favorite.
David Hernandez (18:34):
it's
GlaxonXIII (18:35):
I was done in a
week, like it was not hard at
all.
I was like, man, I'm gonna go onthis huge journey where I
collect every card.
There was like 10, like oh.
David Hernandez (18:46):
10.
GlaxonXIII (18:47):
Oh, okay.
All right.
Well that was easy.
Um.
David Hernandez (18:51):
For all the
Eevee and Charizard lovers,
cover your ears.
You don't want to
GlaxonXIII (18:54):
Oh, yeah, please.
No, I, I'm, I'm so sorry.
Anybody whose favorite is alegendary, forget it.
You know, like,
David Hernandez (19:01):
it's Reggie.
GlaxonXIII (19:01):
I don't have that
problem,
David Hernandez (19:02):
then nobody
cares about that one.
GlaxonXIII (19:03):
right?
So, I mean, that's true.
but no, it's just, ugh, it'sbeen so cool, like to just have
him as my favorite throughoutall this.
I don't think I've ever met asingle other person whose
favorite was Hitmonlee until Iran into a Twitter account.
Called Hitmonlee Propaganda, Ithink is his handle, and all he
does is just post Hitmonlee.
Anything like fan art or, whichis not very common or, uh, uh,
(19:27):
clips from the anime thatHitmonlee is in or whatever like
that is the only other person Ifeel like we are, we are bonded
David Hernandez (19:33):
I mean, how
GlaxonXIII (19:34):
by that.
David Hernandez (19:34):
of him only are
there?
There's like one or two
GlaxonXIII (19:36):
I feel like he posts
the same thing every month,
like.
David Hernandez (19:40):
There's not
much out there.
No.
GlaxonXIII (19:42):
there really isn't.
And that's, that's the hardpart.
Like there's nothing really tocollect about him.
So it's kind of a bittersweetthing.
I don't waste all my money, butthere's also not much to, uh,
collect, so.
David Hernandez (19:53):
Now you said
you collected all the cards of
him.
Only do, do you
GlaxonXIII (19:55):
Mm-hmm.
David Hernandez (19:56):
idea, fa or a
favorite, Hitmonlee card that
kind of sticks out to you sinceyou
GlaxonXIII (20:00):
Oh yeah.
There's a promo, with like aCracked Ice Hollow that they
came out with.
David Hernandez (20:05):
what?
GlaxonXIII (20:05):
Yes.
Can you believe that?
So it's like.
David Hernandez (20:08):
That's why I'm
surprised.
GlaxonXIII (20:08):
Yeah, I know.
It's, it's two of the same art,so it's the same exact art as
the set that it was likereferencing, but it has cracked
hollow instead of, uh, nothing.
David Hernandez (20:17):
the one
GlaxonXIII (20:18):
So,
David Hernandez (20:18):
the, like the
moon's like covering his leg
kind of thing?
GlaxonXIII (20:21):
he's like mid air
and his leg is back.
Like he's going to kicksomething.
He's like.
David Hernandez (20:27):
The moon's
behind them.
GlaxonXIII (20:28):
There is a moon.
Yes.
But yeah, I don't know.
I couldn't remember if it waslike covering something, but
yes, it is a nighttime sort ofscenery.
Yeah.
Wow.
Okay.
Hitmonlee fan.
David Hernandez (20:37):
No, I'm looking
it up right now.
I'm not that good.
GlaxonXIII (20:39):
Oh, okay.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
So it The Cracked Ice one?
Yeah.
There's like two of them.
David Hernandez (20:43):
I really know
every single Pokemon card in
existence?
GlaxonXIII (20:45):
Dude.
I was like really impressed withyou.
You could have fooled me, man.
I was like, oh my gosh, David.
David Hernandez (20:51):
I would, no.
I don't wanna wish that onmyself.
Actually, no, I don't
GlaxonXIII (20:53):
Yeah.
No, that's too much.
David Hernandez (20:54):
That's cra.
I never knew that.
Hitmonlee had a promo card.
GlaxonXIII (20:58):
Yeah.
And also there are some trainercards, like I think a black belt
sort of trainer card whereHitmonlee and Hitmonchan are
fighting in the background.
So I collected that as well.
And there's like a really old, like there's some Japanese only
cards that I had to collect, butagain, it was like, I found them
very quickly.
I'm, I'm surprised that somebodyeven had it for sale, like it
was.
(21:18):
It's not like it's hard to find.
It's just like, who wants this?
Who would list this?
David Hernandez (21:23):
yeah.
GlaxonXIII (21:24):
So I'm that guy.
I'm the, I made that guy's day,I'm sure whoever it was.
David Hernandez (21:29):
Have you ever
thought about doing the same
thing for Tangela, since itseems like it also had f fond
memories for you?
GlaxonXIII (21:33):
you know what, I've
actually gotten a, a second
favorite.
I've moved on from Tangela.
But I was just, I just thoughtit was funny that I had an email
address that's Tangela outthere.
I probably, it probably stillexists.
I never deleted it.
So, but my, my second favorite, speaking of like going back to
these generations that I missed,I fell in love with Honedge, the
Honedge line, and Aegislashline.
(21:53):
when I became a, a shiny hunterthat is my favorite shiny,
Honedge is my clear, firstfavorite, shiny.
So, fell in love with that thingimmediately, so,
David Hernandez (22:04):
Well, what is
it about the shiny Pokemon that
you enjoy since we're already onthis subject?
GlaxonXIII (22:07):
Oh, I mean, again,
the rarity of it all.
the stories, the excitement, the, the serotonin boost when
you find one.
David Hernandez (22:13):
after a couple
thousand tries.
GlaxonXIII (22:16):
It's, uh, yeah, it's
just all of that together.
And also I never really huntedbefore I started streaming on
Twitch.
so really sharing that withother people is the best part.
That is why I shiny hunt.
I truly, and like God blessthose who do it, I truly don't
understand those who shiny huntoff stream or like, while not
being a creator.
(22:36):
I don't know how you do itbecause the part that I love the
most is sharing that moment withothers and like being excited in
front of other people, becausethat's just like what people
love to see, you know?
it's basically like what Iexplained my streams as, like,
it's just chatting, butsometimes I yell when I find a,
David Hernandez (22:54):
just
GlaxonXIII (22:54):
just chatting
stream.
Otherwise, I mean, I'm notreally playing a game.
So that's, that's what I love todescribe my streams as.
Like we're just chatting, we'rejust, Hanging out until I scream
and destroy your headphones.
So,
David Hernandez (23:06):
It sounds like
you enjoy the community aspect
of shiny hunting.
'cause usually most shinyhunters I've met, they like the.
The prize of it, and you
GlaxonXIII (23:14):
yeah.
David Hernandez (23:14):
degree, but you
enjoy more of the social aspect
to where you get to stream toyour viewers on Twitch and they
get to kind of share in themoment with you.
Is that kind of fair to
GlaxonXIII (23:22):
That is 100%.
Yes.
Yep.
That is exactly what it is for,for me.
David Hernandez (23:27):
there
GlaxonXIII (23:27):
there's just
something about
David Hernandez (23:29):
seeing
GlaxonXIII (23:29):
someone get that win
after so long, you know?
and I just love sharing thatwith people
David Hernandez (23:34):
what's the
most, what's one of your most
frustrating hunts that youremember?
GlaxonXIII (23:37):
Oh, I'm so glad you
asked.
So, my, stream is, is verynotoriously known for a
Pyukumuku hunt that I did inSword and Shield in one fishing
spot the entire game.
There's one fishing spot whereyou can get Pyukumuku.
Okay, now I'm a math guy.
I don't know what, what, whatsubject you, you, you deal with,
but.
I'm a math guy.
(23:58):
I'm a numbers guy.
Okay?
So there is a 25% chance of aPyukumuku, There's a a 50%
chance of Shellder and then like10% of like Shellder or
something else.
I went, went through 14,000casts
David Hernandez (24:16):
geez.
GlaxonXIII (24:16):
for a shiny
Pyukumuku.
so that is way over odds.
Along the way, I found like fourShellders and then one 10%
Cloyster, less than half of thechance of getting a Pyukumuku.
So I, I, I got a Shiny of likethe rarest thing in that spot,
you think one every four castsyou'd get a Pyukumuku.
(24:38):
And it took me 14,000 casts toget one.
So.
David Hernandez (24:41):
have been
ecstatic when you finally got
that.
GlaxonXIII (24:44):
Dude, it is by far
my most hype reaction.
Oh, oh, oh my God.
Oh my.
Oh.
(25:07):
No way.
Oh my God.
Oh my God.
Whoa.
Oh my God.
No way, bro.
It oh my God.
(25:36):
Oh my God.
Oh my God.
I'm shaking.
Oh my God.
I'm shaking.
Oh my God.
No way.
No freaking way.
but I do have to
share another story as a, as a
shiny hunter.
I have a lot of these.
David Hernandez (25:51):
it's
GlaxonXIII (25:51):
This is what I'm
talking about, like the story
behind it all right?
David Hernandez (25:55):
Yeah.
GlaxonXIII (25:55):
The fact that you
could tell these stories later
on about just random shinyPokemon, right?
David Hernandez (25:59):
the pickle.
Ball turns.
That's it.
GlaxonXIII (26:00):
it, man.
I'm telling you, everybody'sstory is so crazy.
But, um, so when Sword andShield came out, one of the
first things I hunted for wasApplin.
Shiny Applin and I decided to doMasuda method for it because,
it's very hard to find out inthe wild.
so in Sword and Shield there'sreally only two ways to hunt in
the base game Before the DLCcame out, which was either
(26:20):
running into things in the wildor hatching eggs for it, that
was it.
so I hatched eggs for my ShawneeApplin, and as I was hatching
it, the number kept climbing.
I was at like 1500 somethingeggs, which is not good.
David Hernandez (26:33):
a little bit.
Yeah,
GlaxonXIII (26:33):
Um.
Again, yeah.
Numbers.
I don't know if anybodylistening to this is a shiny
hunter, but
David Hernandez (26:38):
usually one
GlaxonXIII (26:39):
one in five 12 is
the, is the odds for a shiny
using masuda method, which isusing two different Pokemon from
two different regions to breed.
so it's named after ESI Masudaof course, but it got to 1500
eggs and on my stream.
Now, David, imagine this on myscreen, I have a little gif of
(26:59):
the thing that I'm hunting.
So on my stream overlay, you'llsee a little gif of a shiny
Applin just kind of rocking backand forth as like to show new
people what I'm hunting, youknow?
so I had gotten to that point ofdelusion in the shiny hunt,
which happens very frequently, where I was just like, looking
for something to do, like blah, blah, blah.
All these eggs are hatching, nothing's shining.
(27:21):
So I decided to do a little liketrick on my, on my community
where I took that gif of theapp, one that was sitting there.
It was a shiny Applin, and Ilined it up with a previous
hatch and made it the exact samesize and all that stuff so that
when hatch.
I can make it show up on screenand make it look like it was the
shiny So I hatch the next eggand I go ahead and I'm like, oh
(27:44):
my God.
Look, it's shiny and it actuallywas the shiny
David Hernandez (27:47):
I, I,
GlaxonXIII (27:47):
I kid you not, there
is a clip.
We could show the clip.
It is the most insane moment Ithink I've had.
You know, you, you wanna try tocall your shinies, you know,
like, I'm gonna get this shinyhere.
Right.
You try to call your shinies allthe time.
This was an unintentional callof a shiny, so yeah, it was
really insane.
David Hernandez (28:08):
what are the
chances of that literally
GlaxonXIII (28:10):
Exactly.
Like it's just, I don't knowwhat overcame me to do that, but
David Hernandez (28:15):
I
GlaxonXIII (28:15):
Yeah.
David Hernandez (28:16):
get it.
'cause I've done some of thesimilar things with Pokemon Go,
uh, not shiny.
I said like, uh, one time I putit on chat.
Oh, there's a hundo unknown.
GlaxonXIII (28:25):
Right.
David Hernandez (28:25):
or just like,
there's a rare Pokemon somewhere
and
GlaxonXIII (28:28):
Yep.
And sure enough, yep.
David Hernandez (28:31):
it's kinda like
that you just wanna cause a
little chaos.
So I can
GlaxonXIII (28:33):
Yeah, I mean it's,
it's the best part.
So that, and again, you're atthat point of delusion where,
you know, anything would beentertaining at this point
besides watching all these eggshatch.
David Hernandez (28:43):
I mean, what
motivates you to keep going?
'cause that, you know, there's apoint to where it's just like, I
don't wanna say it doesn'tbecome fun, but it's kind of
becomes more frustrating at thatpoint than it is
GlaxonXIII (28:51):
Oh, you got it.
You gotta know when to take abreak.
You gotta know when to switch itup.
David Hernandez (28:56):
Okay.
So
GlaxonXIII (28:56):
Um,
David Hernandez (28:56):
you don't just
do full shiny hunts all the
time?
I, I do
GlaxonXIII (28:59):
I, I do mostly, yes,
but, uh, I've streamed five days
a week, which is a lot.
so I don't want all those daysto be Shiny Hunting.
I'll get burnt out from it.
but I'm currently working on ashiny living deck and I'm
insanely close to finishing.
so that's been the driving forcefor me.
So that's what keeps me going isthat I'm so close to a goal.
So set goals is my first pieceof advice.
(29:19):
Set shiny hunting goals, Thatalways helps me, and then always
like, take a break.
Like there's no shame in takinga break.
The, the games will be theretomorrow.
Just do something else to getyour brain reset, you know?
David Hernandez (29:32):
I was
wondering, so because you're so
close to finishing it, what'sone that you're excited to hunt?
Is there like one that you'relike, like your whale or one
that you're looking forward todoing hunting that you haven't
done
GlaxonXIII (29:42):
So unfortunately,
um, um, I got I got into the
shiny hunting game a lot laterthan a lot of people did.
I.
so unfortunately I got like allthe easy ones.
David Hernandez (29:52):
oh, so you got
the hard ones now.
GlaxonXIII (29:54):
So like really all
that's left is like the stuff
that has not really been easy tofind.
I mean as far like, there's acouple legendaries on there, but
my whales right now are thesword and Shield fossils.
I just can't bring myself to dothem, but it's gotta get done,
man.
You know?
So I'm just, it's part of melike kind of just holds out and
(30:14):
waits to see if they're gonna bein the next game, you know, a
little easier to hunt somewhereelse.
But, you know, that's the othercool thing about Shawnee hunting
is that everybody wants to do itin different ways.
some, I know there are peopleout there that are crazy enough
to shiny hunt them in theirgeneration.
Like obviously gen one's alittle harder.
but, finding things from likeKalos in gen six's games, you
(30:38):
know, like they won't find itelsewhere.
me, I personally don't care atthis point.
David Hernandez (30:42):
You just wanna
get'em.
GlaxonXIII (30:44):
I'm
David Hernandez (30:44):
Like,
GlaxonXIII (30:45):
like, okay, just put
'em in the home and I'll, I'll
make it better later.
But like, I just wanna see'emall in home.
You know?
David Hernandez (30:50):
I was
wondering,'cause you know, I
know you play Pokemon Go andwe're gonna touch on that.
Do you consider the cheries youget from Pokemon Go legitimate
for your collection?
Or do you kind of try to get'emMostly Main Series, only you.
GlaxonXIII (30:59):
You know what?
I get this question a lot and, personally and everybody feels
differently, and that's thebeauty of it all right?
So you don't have to agree withme.
I mean, this is just how I feel.
I mean, in my personalexperience.
Some of The Pokemon GO Shiniesthat I have, feel more, special
than any others because I'mactually like, out in the world.
(31:20):
You know what I mean?
Like, I, I actually like spenttime and money out in the real
world to get some of these, I'musually with friends.
I'm like out there with otherpeople.
IRL, you know.
So I feel like yeah, I, I, theydo, I would like them personally
when I do get to that point inmy shiny living Dex to not have
that g stamp in Pokemon Home.
(31:40):
but for the mean, like for themeantime.
Yeah.
Uh, it is fine.
I, I, I love playing Pokemon Go.
It's one of my favorite thingsto do, and I don't feel like
they're any less valuable.
they're more common, obviously.
On community days and stuff, butI still think they count,
David Hernandez (31:55):
I mean for me
that's the same way.
'cause I always felt like I hada better story with Pokemon Go
Pokemon than I did with thegames.
GlaxonXIII (32:00):
right?
David Hernandez (32:00):
felt more.
I say limited because a lot ofit came mostly through the main
series games and you
GlaxonXIII (32:05):
Yep.
David Hernandez (32:06):
shining hunts I
did.
But Pokemon Go, there's a wholebunch of different stories and
it didn't have to be shinysometimes.
Sometimes it could be throughtrades or sometimes
GlaxonXIII (32:13):
Oh yeah.
David Hernandez (32:14):
Just there's
those different kind of stories.
I get what you're saying thatcame from Pokemon Go that you
wouldn't normally get from amain series game sometimes.
Right.
And
GlaxonXIII (32:20):
Right.
And they also have like thefreedom to do things like
costumes, you know?
David Hernandez (32:24):
Which
GlaxonXIII (32:25):
which I, I, I
personally love.
I know not everybody's a fan,but I, I love hunting those,
like limited time things down.
You know,
David Hernandez (32:32):
do you go all
out whenever a costume Pokemon's
announced for Pokemon Go?
GlaxonXIII (32:35):
my, yes.
One of my prize possessions is ashiny Mimikyu costume Pikachu.
David Hernandez (32:41):
Yes.
It
GlaxonXIII (32:41):
It was only
available in one Halloween, and
I remember it being super rareto even show up.
And, uh, I got a shot, so,
David Hernandez (32:49):
I, I wanted one
of those and I was lucky I got
one.
That one.
I yeah.
the Fragment Hat Pikachu, whichnever
GlaxonXIII (32:55):
Oh, no, that, that's
what I'm saying.
Like some of that stuff can getreally rare, really fast,
depending on how often theybring those things back and
sometimes they don't armoredMewtwo, I'm looking at you.
there's so much cool stuff inPokemon Go to collect that you
just don't get in the mainlinegames.
Like they don't do costumes, they don't do anything fun like
that.
You know, it's like they're verylike, you know, nitpicky about
(33:17):
what happens in their mainlinegames.
So,
David Hernandez (33:20):
Well, I guess
since we're on Pokemon GO when
did you first start playing?
What was your first experienceplaying that side of
GlaxonXIII (33:24):
oh, I am so excited
to be able to say that I played
day one, June, July 7th.
7th, 2016.
I was day one, or maybe it wasJuly 6th.
July 6th, 2016.
David Hernandez (33:36):
Yep.
GlaxonXIII (33:36):
Yep.
I'm a day one and, pretty muchconsistently in the first couple
seasons of it.
I did take a couple breaks andthen now I'm like full fledged
into it.
just recently hit level 50 likeon Community Day.
David Hernandez (33:48):
congrats.
GlaxonXIII (33:49):
Just hit level 50.
So,
David Hernandez (33:51):
What does
Pokemon Go offer compared to the
main series?
Or what does Pokemon Go offerthat you may not get from the
main series?
GlaxonXIII (33:57):
again, it's like a
lot of social interactions that
you just don't really get.
for the most part, I mean,Pokemon has been handheld, but
not since really.
I dunno, like it's stillhandheld on the switch, but you
just don't bring your switch outto play in the city.
You know, like people just don'tdo that.
But you can bring your phone andit's also the events like
Pokemon Go, having specificevents, really drives the game
(34:20):
and I love doing stuff likethat.
yeah, I don't know, it's just,it's just a completely different
experience.
There's a lot more milestones toreach, there's a lot more data
that you can follow, and peoplelove numbers.
You know, a lot of Pokemon Goaccounts out there are like
always tracking their number ofcatches in a week or like how
much experience they gain.
it's all for those numbers, specific people that, that
(34:41):
really enjoy that stuff.
David Hernandez (34:43):
I know you've
had a chance to go to Go Fest
and I wanted to know like whatwas your first Go fest?
Was it this past year or was ita different one that you went
to?
GlaxonXIII (34:50):
I just wanna share
again, you mentioned at the
beginning, but, I am superblessed to be, what is called a
notable trainer with ThePokemon, company International.
And they provided opportunitiesto go to go fest in person, with
free access to the event allthree days in the park.
So You know, I was provided theopportunity to go and hang out
with all the.
Biggest Pokemon Go Creators, youknow, mystic, jt Gilly, Zoey,
(35:13):
they're all as amazing in personas you might imagine.
which I think is really cool tosee.
A lot of people don't reallyknow how these YouTubers are
outside of YouTube, right?
Like, they don't know how theyare without a camera in front of
them.
But I can assure you that theyare some of the most genuine,
awesome people, that you couldever meet.
And they just have that samepassion for Pokemon that, that
you do, you know, so much sothat they decided to make this
(35:35):
channel right?
Like, you have to imagine like,it takes a lot of love and
dedication to do stuff likethat.
David Hernandez (35:41):
yeah.
It takes a lot of
GlaxonXIII (35:42):
So anxiety, it is a
lot of sacrifice.
It's a lot of travel time forsome of the, like Zoe coming
from Australia.
Oh my God,
David Hernandez (35:48):
Time
GlaxonXIII (35:49):
I can't imagine.
David Hernandez (35:50):
O
GlaxonXIII (35:51):
Whew, man.
but yeah, so it's been, it'sbeen amazing.
So again, with that, perk, I getto play in the park all three
days, which is.
Not what you're normallysupposed to do.
You get like half a day in thepark and the rest is whatever.
that's what they usually let youdo.
But, I really would not haveconsidered myself a YouTuber by
any stretch of the imagination.
I just love posting on socialsand then like streams.
(36:12):
But at Jersey City.
I got probably the greatestinvention of all time for
anybody creating Pokemon Gocontent.
and that is the DJ I Osmo Pocketthree.
I dunno if you know what thatis.
David Hernandez (36:23):
not actually,
if you can
GlaxonXIII (36:24):
So it is a traveling
vlog camera.
It is handheld, it is superlight, super mobile, and it has
some of the best quality I'veever seen out of a camera.
and it is lightning fast.
Has tons of storage, tons ofbattery.
But I picked it up and Iactually made my first Pokemon
Go Vlog style video at JerseyCity Go Fest.
(36:45):
So it was a blast.
it was stressful.
David Hernandez (36:50):
Like,
GlaxonXIII (36:51):
Like, you know, it
makes the game hard to, hard to
play because you're trying toget the footage of all the
stuff, but also not letting itrun away from you and all that,
you know, it's just, it's a lotof added stress, but it is so
cool when you see your, yourfinal product come together.
David Hernandez (37:04):
I remember you
talked about how you made that
first video, your first log ofattending a Pokemon Go event, or
things just in general, likewhat kind of work went into that
that was different from whatyou're used to, and how did you
kind of approach that kind ofwhat made you even want to even
attend something like that?
That's
GlaxonXIII (37:19):
that's a, that's a
great question.
I'm actually gonna get a littlepersonal
David Hernandez (37:22):
It's like
GlaxonXIII (37:22):
here.
And it's like
David Hernandez (37:23):
being in
GlaxonXIII (37:24):
in this, notable
trainer program that they have.
David Hernandez (37:27):
I've just
GlaxonXIII (37:28):
just felt a little
lesser than.
I felt a little, like I did notreally deserve to go to those go
fests'cause like, what did I do?
and the answer was nothing.
I, I enjoyed my time.
I collected stuff, I caughtshinies, I
David Hernandez (37:41):
social
GlaxonXIII (37:42):
social posts about
it, but like, what did I really
do for Pokemon there?
The answer really was nothing.
so that changed this year.
This year I made some evergreencontent.
That's what I call it.
it means like it's content thatyou can go back and watch
anytime.
You know, sometimes people getan itching to watch people enjoy
go fest.
David Hernandez (38:00):
That's the
GlaxonXIII (38:01):
that's the content I
like to watch.
So I wanted to create contentthat I liked watching, and that
was my first experience doingthat.
and like I said, it was hard, itwas hard to like focus on
David Hernandez (38:10):
the
GlaxonXIII (38:11):
the game aspect that
I love so much, and trying to
boost my own collection.
While also trying to feel like, you know what?
I'm gonna make content becausePokemon believes in me and is
sending me here to do thisevent.
And as much as they say it'snot, I say it's, it's a give and
take.
You know, you're giving me thisopportunity and I gotta give you
(38:32):
something in return.
Now they don't say that I'mgonna be very upfront with you.
They are not saying that to me.
That's how I feel.
David Hernandez (38:39):
if I can
intercede real quick, it sounds
GlaxonXIII (38:40):
yeah, absolutely.
David Hernandez (38:41):
You went for
the first three years or two
years, just to say, as justsomebody as a fan in a way to
where
GlaxonXIII (38:48):
Correct,
David Hernandez (38:49):
Pokemon, you
wanna enjoy Pokemon, but you
didn't see yourself as more of acreator at that time.
when you went to Jersey City,You felt more called that, Hey,
this is something that I coulddo more with, that I'm not
taking advantage of.
And you wanted to kind of bringthat.
Your own flare and put your bestfoot out there, especially with
how much Pokemon, I guess, hasinvested with you.
Is that kind of how, what you'releaning towards,
GlaxonXIII (39:08):
You.
You nailed it.
I mean, it's like the same goesfor worlds Like, you know, I've
been invited and what did I do?
You know, I didn't document itlike for the world at all.
So that is changing this year.
I'm going through a, a changethis year.
seeing everybody else at theseevents who were there from
Pokemon, like doing all thisstuff, I'm like, why?
(39:31):
Why am I here?
like I Like, I really let thateat at me for the right reasons.
And it, it's changed, it'schanged my entire outlook on
this.
And, I felt like I was notdeserving at all.
And now I feel like I'm, puttingmy peace out there like, I
deserve to be here.
I'm a dang good creator and Ijust need to create new
different stuff.
I was so scared to do that, butI was like, so used to being in
(39:55):
front of a desk with a PC infront of me, um, and doing
content that way.
David Hernandez (40:00):
have carried a
desk with you around New Jersey
City and just
GlaxonXIII (40:02):
Oh, absolutely.
I could just strapped one on myneck.
Yep, you're right.
David Hernandez (40:06):
Right?
GlaxonXIII (40:06):
Uh, but no, that's
literally what this DJ I does it
like is a computer in front ofyou.
so no, that, like, I feel likethat's where my mind was at, I'm
so mad it took this long, but, Ifinally had the means to, to
make a change and I did.
David Hernandez (40:23):
You've been
Noble Trainer also for Pokemon
Worlds.
How is
GlaxonXIII (40:26):
Yes.
David Hernandez (40:26):
Go Fest and
what was it like to kind of get
the first invite to that?
GlaxonXIII (40:30):
Okay, so my first
time being invited to Worlds as
a notable trainer was forYokohama, Japan.
so that in and of itself wasjust, that's something people
just dream of, you know, likethat has been on my bucket list
for forever.
so yeah, going to Japan.
Being in the birthplace ofPokemon, basically.
(40:50):
and seeing their celebrations ofit, it was insane.
I couldn't believe what I wasseeing.
And that's like the other thing.
I was so starstruck I couldn'tdo it.
I couldn't move, I couldn't doanything Like I didn't know what
to expect.
so that was that year.
Like I didn't know really whatit was about.
I had been to one Worlds before,I think it was 2017
David Hernandez (41:14):
and
GlaxonXIII (41:15):
in dc 2018 when it
was in DC the last time.
so I was fresh, moved to thearea.
So I, I was close enough to DCto just go there, as a
spectator, but it wasn't as bigas it is now.
you know, Pokemon has gotten somuch bigger than then.
like, so part of it was like, okay, I'm invited and I'm going,
what does that mean?
(41:35):
so the first year was veryexperimental and just observing
what's going on.
but yeah, really it's just aboutlike interacting with other
people that have the same loveof Pokemon as you do.
that's what you get at Worlds.
Obviously Pokemon Go has a lotof stuff going on, and I'm like
a huge fan of that.
So I was just really adjustingto it.
Hawaii, I got a little bitbetter at it.
(41:56):
I was creating videos on myphone.
I didn't have this camera.
but again, I was so limitedbecause other other creators
probably have the the, the moneyand and the time to like get as
much equipment as they need.
That that was like, okay, now Ican sort of get ideas, but I
can't really execute.
pun totally intended.
say Uh, but this year it's nowlike, okay, I know what goes
(42:22):
into it.
I know what to expect.
I know what gear I need now I'mready.
so going into Anaheim, I knowwhat to expect.
I have what I need I that I didnot have the first two times.
So, um, that's sort that's sortof where, like where I'm at now.
Um.
David Hernandez (42:39):
on that note,
so what kind of experience,
because you know, you're fairly, you're fairly fresh on doing
this kind of logging style.
What kind of experience or Iguess, emotion do you want a
viewer to experience when itcomes to your kind of videos
moving forward?
Okay.
GlaxonXIII (42:52):
Okay, so the, the
main focus, hopefully people
still understand the main focusof worlds is the competitive
side.
so I definitely wanna showcasehow exciting some of these
battles and some of these crowdreactions can be.
to watching their favoritecompetitor, like this is the top
of the top.
you see like anytime that theseregionals are going on, on
Twitch or YouTube or whatever, there's thousands of people
(43:14):
watching at any given moment, onany sort of game.
Like either Go Unite, VGC, likeany of that stuff has an
audience.
So there are a lot of peopleinterested in it.
so I wanna showcase that kind ofaspect.
But also there's so much otherstuff going on.
Like obviously Pokemon Go hasevents during it.
there's side events to do,there's like other smaller
(43:35):
competitions for anybody to signup and do.
there's like history museums tosee,
David Hernandez (43:40):
have
GlaxonXIII (43:40):
they have a lot of
stuff.
They have artist alleys, theyhave autograph signings.
There's so much and I can't waitto showcase that for everybody.
David Hernandez (43:48):
Well, Glax
that's gonna be an interview,
but I wanna finish on this onefinal question.
It's gonna be a fun one for you.
I want you to give me your dreamshiny Pokemon team.
GlaxonXIII (43:57):
Oh, okay.
So this is basically asking mytop six favorite Shinies,
because that's what it comesdown to.
I love cosmetics.
I don't care what they can do onthe field.
As long as they look cool, thenthat's it.
Whether we win or lose, we lookgood doing it.
so my top is obviously gonna beAegislash like the Honedge line.
I'll just give it age of slashbecause he is a better battler.
(44:19):
unfortunately Hitmonlee does notmake this list at all.
It's shiny as terrible.
David Hernandez (44:23):
ugly green.
GlaxonXIII (44:24):
Yeah, it's like
peace soup kind of thing.
Uh, not very appealing.
David Hernandez (44:28):
a PSU's a
compliment.
But yeah, continue.
GlaxonXIII (44:30):
It's, I'm gonna go,
like, I love Blue Shinies
outside of Honedge.
I call my shiny team the bluecrew, because it's mostly blue
shiny, so I hope you're, you'reprepared for that.
David Hernandez (44:41):
So next up
GlaxonXIII (44:42):
Um, so next up is
probably gonna be King gambit.
David Hernandez (44:46):
Oh, that's a
good one.
GlaxonXIII (44:47):
I love Shiny King
Gambit.
then I'm gonna give it toSpiritomb.
David Hernandez (44:51):
Oh, can't go
with that one.
That's a good one.
GlaxonXIII (44:53):
Yeah, Spiritomb
shiny is just topnotch.
after that I'm probably gonnahave to give it to something not
blue, just to stop being boring.
David Hernandez (45:05):
this is your
GlaxonXIII (45:05):
Uh,
David Hernandez (45:06):
can do whatever
the hell you want.
I got people
GlaxonXIII (45:08):
you know what,
you're right.
I, I could just keep.
David Hernandez (45:12):
Um, I'm not
judging you here.
GlaxonXIII (45:14):
I'm gonna say
Gigalith is one of my favorites.
David Hernandez (45:16):
Yes.
Gigalith.
GlaxonXIII (45:17):
Shiny Gigalith is
amazing.
If you've never seen it, look itup my,
David Hernandez (45:22):
Sulaski or, uh,
the whatcha called
GlaxonXIII (45:25):
yeah.
SAG Mite or something like that.
David Hernandez (45:27):
yeah, yeah.
GlaxonXIII (45:27):
Yep.
My favorite shiny starter for mystarter fans out there is
Emboar.
And lastly.
I don't wanna mess up.
I feel like this could be veryeasily messed up
David Hernandez (45:39):
Like,
GlaxonXIII (45:39):
like no wrong
answers with my list, you know,
like they're, they're all sogood.
David Hernandez (45:43):
Yeah.
GlaxonXIII (45:44):
Um, so I'm gonna
give it to Camerupt.
I really like shiny Camerupt.
David Hernandez (45:48):
A spicy choice
for a shiny, I think that's,
GlaxonXIII (45:50):
Yeah.
A black shi, like everybodyloves that.
Like black, shiny, like Greninjaand Charizard.
David Hernandez (45:56):
Sandy
GlaxonXIII (45:56):
So
David Hernandez (45:57):
Yeah.
GlaxonXIII (45:58):
that's gonna round
it up.
David Hernandez (45:59):
Glax if they
wanna check out your content, if
they wanna connect with you, where can they go?
By all means, please plug away.
GlaxonXIII (46:05):
Absolutely.
Thank you so much.
So mostly you can find me onTwitch, on Twitch.tv/GlaxonXIII.
You can see it spelled.
It's G-L-A-X-O-N and then 13 inRoman numerals, which I heard
David doesn't really do wellwith.
So,
David Hernandez (46:19):
no
GlaxonXIII (46:20):
uh, it should be,
David Hernandez (46:20):
at all.
So.
GlaxonXIII (46:22):
it should be XIII.
it's GlaxonXIII on pretty muchevery platform.
The only one that's different isYouTube.
Where it's Axon and then theactual number 13 for, for you
David.
David Hernandez (46:33):
Thank
GlaxonXIII (46:33):
Um, they didn't
allow Roman numerals for some
reason, so, probably for thatreason.
'cause they're confusing,
David Hernandez (46:39):
Uh, my
education
GlaxonXIII (46:40):
so
David Hernandez (46:40):
me, that's why
I don't know.
Roman
GlaxonXIII (46:41):
that's, that's
right.
But yeah, I'm, I'm active a loton Twitter, uh, Instagram,
YouTube, TikTok, all that goodstuff.
David Hernandez (46:49):
