Prepare to have your world turned upside down as we explore the electrifying influence of Uranus in astrology. Have you ever wondered why life suddenly throws you a curveball? It might just be the unpredictable energy of Uranus at work. Through sharing personal stories, (like how I ended up living in an RV due to Uranus's unexpected influence on my ascendant), you'll get a firsthand look at how this cosmic force can shake up your home life or finances. Whether it's nudging you towards an avant-garde art project or challenging the status quo in your career, Uranus's transits bring more than just changes—they invite revolution.

As we venture further into the cosmos, we'll unravel Uranus's transformative power when it journeys through the fifth house, nudging us toward unconventional creativity. Sunny (00:09):
Hey Astro Friends, this is Astrology AF, the show that
talks everything astrology aboveand below the totally real, not
at all illusory sky.
I'm Sunny, your host, with over30 years of chart reading
experience.

Bootes (00:25):
And I'm Boots, your hostling, with almost 30 years
experience questioning innocentpeople to tears.
We're here to walk with youthrough the twinkling starlight
into the basic, the advanced andthe obscure.
For the astrology people youknow it's Astrology AF.
I totally didn't almost forgetthe name of our show because
it's been like eight monthssince we've done it, but thanks

(00:48):
for coming back.
Anybody who's coming back,we're happy to see you.

Sunny (00:51):
Yes, yes, and new people who have never been here before.

Bootes (00:56):
Yes, indeed, Whatever your level of experience is with
us, welcome back and thank youfor joining us.
Today we are going to betalking about the funniest
planet in the solar system,Uranus.
So what does Uranus doastrologically?

Sunny (01:14):
So Uranus is sudden shifts, sudden changes, where we
think we're going this way andall of a sudden, now we're going
, we took a hard left or a hardright, whatever.
It's about things changescoming that we didn't

(01:34):
necessarily see coming, theyjust are.
They just show up.
I always tell people thatUranus is not about, does not
really care whether you arehappy with the changes or not.
Sometimes a change happens andwe're like I'm so happy that

(01:57):
happened, happens, and we'relike I'm sad now I want what I

(02:21):
had before, and Uranus doesn'tcare about your response to the
change it of Uranian influence.

Bootes (02:29):
Is it in transits or more in natal charts, or do you
have some of both?

Sunny (02:38):
And it's really funny that you asked this question,
because I didn't we didn't planthis question, but I have in my
own natal chart.
I have Uranus at exactly 90degrees from my ascendant.

Bootes (03:00):
Okay.

Sunny (03:01):
So it's a square, a little bit of a tense energy, a
little bit of an energy that youknow doesn't necessarily flow.
But once you figure out theenergy, you, you know it, just
you can work with it.
Okay.
And you know, interestingly, Ilive in an RV.

(03:24):
You know the Uranus in my chartis in the fourth house.

(03:48):
So fourth house, home, family, parents, that kind of thing.
So you know, I have thisinteresting energy, I have moved
.
I don't know how many times.
At one point I counted and Ithink it was close to 40 times.
Wow, yeah, and now I just livein an RV and we just moved the
house, yeah, so that is a waythat Uranus can show up.
The other thing is, uranus cancome through by transit and, you

(04:11):
know, cross your second house, for example, and your money is
changing.
It's, you know, maybe you losesome money, maybe you gain some
money, maybe you gain some money.
Again, totally neutral as faras the quality of the change,

(04:33):
you know.
But so you know, you, youobviously would have more, more
enjoyment and excitement about, you know, your income going up
or your net worth going up,right, so it could be a rise in
net worth, it could be a fall innet worth, you know, but that

(04:58):
happens a lot.
Okay, it doesn't have to beyou're bankrupt, you know it
doesn't have to be you'rebankrupt, you know it doesn't
have to go all the way to allthe way to zero, and as Uranus
moves on, sometimes thosechanges will rectify themselves.
We'll come back and and youknow, like I lost a lot of money

(05:25):
, but then then it's okaybecause I gained it, most of it,
back okay, you know, yeah, andthen I I would imagine it could
also kind of look like just theit with the second house example
.

Bootes (05:38):
Um, it could also be just a big change to like where
your money's coming from orwhere your resources lie and a
dramatic shift in that in someway.
Right, okay, and most peoplelive through a or like a lot of

(06:01):
us I won't say most, I don'tknow the figures live through a
Uran of us I won't say most, Idon't know the figures um, live
through a Uranus square,possibly a Uranus opposition,
and then like maybe anotherUranus square, right, it's
return.

Sunny (06:17):
It's in the eighties.

Bootes (06:19):
Eighties.
So a Uranus, okay, okay.

Sunny (06:22):
I think it's about 82 is when you have your urinous
return.
I didn't look up squares or oropposition, but okay, okay, yeah
.

Bootes (06:33):
So if you make it to your urinous return, that is a
ripe old age right.

Sunny (06:37):
If you live a good long life, you get to experience that
um.

Bootes (06:46):
So in its action in people's charts, like through
the houses, I don't know that wehave to go through and
necessarily give each house, butto give because I feel like
uranus has I don't really wantto say vague meanings, but but
the meanings that it has aresuch it's not like your keys or

(07:11):
like the head, it's stuff likechange.
So that encompasses a lot ofthings.
A lot of people also associateit with technology and with
social upheavalaval.
That's part of the change thing.
Technology is a change thing,um, so as that moves through

(07:32):
people's houses, it might justexpress as that sort of like
major shift in that house, possibly also more so if that
house is activated in other ways, through like perfections, or
if there's a big change on, likethe, the cusp of that house or

(07:53):
planet is retrograde through asecondary progression in the
natives chart as well, then itmight have a stronger impact
than it would if it's just likedutting through, like I know,
uranus going through my eighthhouse.
I didn't have really anythingelse eighth house going on at
that point as uranus movedthrough taurus, um, and so like

(08:16):
for sure there was change, butit wasn't anything that I was
like oh my gosh, that's totallyuranus in the eighth house.
You know like I didn't gosh.
That's totally Uranus in theeighth house.
You know like I didn't reallyexperience that too much.

Sunny (08:27):
Yeah, yeah.

Bootes (08:30):
Okay, um, I have got uh Uranus in the fourth house
personally, um, I, which wheredoes yours square from?
Is it fourth house?
Yeah, yeah, cause we had talkedabout I lived in an rv for a
while as well, um, like two anda half years, and um outside of

(08:50):
that have also just moved a lot.
Living in an rv was actuallysome of the least I have moved
um in my adult life, so I hadlike really stable upbringing in
the housing situation.
Um and uh never moved from thesame house until I was 18 when I
moved out on my own into theworld Um, and then after that it

(09:14):
was like a minimum of once ayear.
I was moving for like eightyears, um, and then got into
some longer term situationswhere I would like do two leases
in a row at the same place andget to be in one place like two,

(09:34):
two and a half years Um, and Ithink I only ever had two
different places that I lived infor more than a year, more than
a year Um and uh.
Now I recently just moved uhhalfway across the country, um,
and am exploring an entire, anentirely new environment, um,

(09:55):
but that was like a massivechange off of having never left
like my general home area for 28years and then like, okay, well
, I'm done, I'm gonna moveacross the continent and
completely change, revolutionizewhere it is that I call home.

Sunny (10:17):
Um, so that's definitely that's been the uh, really big
basic natal placement, uranusstuff for me, I think as,
depending on your other factors, like perhaps your partner's
start um, I would tend to expect, with uranus in the fourth

(10:41):
house, that to continue to meanfrequent moves and changes
pertaining to where you callhome okay yeah, um, very common
when we're 18, 19, 20, 21.
Very common to move a lot, youknow, um, but I want to see what

(11:03):
happens in your.
I want to see what's going onwhen you're 40 when I'm 40?

Bootes (11:10):
is there a particular aspect that comes about around
your 40s with uranus?

Sunny (11:14):
no, it it's I'm.
I'm talking about some.
You know, when we're, by thetime we're 40, we tend to be
more settled, more stable, andis that going to be true for you
?
It was not for me, and it's aninteresting thing to find out.
And I'm sure you're not goingto move just because you have

(11:37):
Uranus in the fourth.

Bootes (11:40):
Oh yeah, If anything, I'm looking at it like no,
please don't make me do it again.
The set of transits that Istarted looking into a while ago

(12:18):
because I realized it had beena time period in my life that
was like hugely changing of thedown to the bones and rebuilt
from there.
When I had Pluto cross throughmy fourth house of Capricorn and
specifically when it was withina few degrees of Uranus and I
also I'm part of the 90sgeneration that has the
Uranus-Neptune conjunctionthey're like a degree or two
apart in my chart and so whenPluto inched its way across that

(12:38):
point, that was a dramaticcouple of months in my life
where things changed a lot and Ididn't get a lot of rest and I
was not doing super well throughthat whole transit.
It was rough.
That was also, uh, I'm prettysure Pluto well, yeah, Pluto

(12:58):
through Capricorn was also likeCOVID and all of that kind of
stuff, which definitely affected, uh, my area of home.
I ended up being one of thepeople who did not stay home.
I was still uh, moving and out, traveling and stuff, because I
was an essential worker throughthat time and so I didn't spend

(13:19):
as much time at home as a lot ofother people did, and I think
that there are actually quite afew people of my generation that
was going through that sametransit, um that kind of had a
similar experience.
It's like they were either um,still working at home or they
still had to go out and workanyways.

(13:42):
So that was like the big thingthat I noticed was specifically
that pluto over that uranustransit and I looked into it for
a couple of friends and theyhad thematically similar
experiences through that transit.
So if you're lucky enough to beborn at a time where then you

(14:03):
live long enough to experiencethe outers like conjuncting and
passing each other, that can bea wild, wild time, especially if
there's, like, all three ofthem involved time, especially
if there's like all three ofthem involved.

Sunny (14:21):
Yeah, and as different things move through and touch on
that degree, for you or youknow, for me or for anyone,
where uranus lies in the chart, that can trigger things.
I know, you know that againdoes not necessarily mean a
transcontinental move, you knowright, but it can mean you know
something like, especially oneof the quicker inner planets.

(14:43):
It can mean sort of a gosh, I'mfeeling restless.
I what if we?
What if we moved across town?
Let's go look, let's go, let'sgo, let's go check it out, let's
see what it would be like.
That can be enough right there.
It doesn't have to be upheaval.

Bootes (15:05):
Do you think that doing something like moving furniture
would be enough to satiateUranus and his demands?

Sunny (15:13):
Yeah, I, if, if, if I were trying to to do that.
Yes, rearranging the furnituremight be changing the way I
exist in space.

Bootes (15:24):
You know, I always open this window and I never open
this window, so I'm going tochange that okay you know, yeah,
those kinds of things okay, that might help kind of let some
of the air out of the balloonas far as a uranus transit goes
and help direct the energythrough that, so you don't

(15:46):
necessarily have to go throughan unwilling transcontinental
move or something like that.
You know your foundation breaksin your house or something.
Have there been any otheruranus transits you've
experienced that you tookparticular note of, or ones that

(16:08):
you've seen?
You know either in practicethat you can talk about, um, or
of your own that you remember?

Sunny (16:18):
I mean, yeah, sort of sort of I can talk about it very
vaguely um, like uranus in thefifth house, the house of
children, you know, and um, andand pleasure and sexuality and

(16:39):
all of those things, um, and youknow where people are, I don't
want to say, I don't want to saytoo much, but, um, there's
upheaval in those topics.

Bootes (16:55):
Okay, Okay, yeah.

Sunny (16:57):
You know, it's really funny when you see a transit and
you start talking about.
You know, well, this is whatthis means and you can watch the
face of the person that you'retalking to, face of the person

(17:21):
that you're talking to, and theyyou could, you can see it kind
of dawn on them.
Oh, she's talking about this.
Whatever this event is, thathappened, you know, and, um,
this was very much the case withthis particular client.
You know, la, la, la, la, la,oh, and here's Uranus.

(17:41):
Uranus is in your big house andyou know, you just see the
realization dawning.
You know that that's what we'retalking about.
That's what we're talking about.

(18:01):
Um, it's actually pretty easy tospot because because it's that,
you know, sudden left turn.
We remember those sudden leftturns, sudden right, yeah, you
know, I'm not trying to dictatea direction, but you know it's.
We remember that.
It's like, oh yeah, I was just,I was just cruising along,
going straight, and you know, all of a sudden we turned and it

(18:27):
was, it was.
This was not the experience Ithought I was going to be having
.

Bootes (18:44):
Somebody with other plans comes along, definitely
just like redirects things I'veheard that as part of the
example quite a few times islike I was going this direction.
These were the things I wasaiming at.
This is what I cared about, andthen X happened and it's some
relatively.
It can be seemingly innocuous, like you know, just a simple
injury that's not not major, butmaybe it doesn't.

(19:08):
It makes it so that you can'tdo what you had previously been
doing, like you can injury toyour hand and you had been a
sculptor and that you can'tsculpt for a couple months and
so you start doing somethingelse and then that ends up being
a really big part of your life.
Um, I have heard those kinds ofstories in uranus transits as

(19:34):
well.

Sunny (19:35):
And that would, and, and I think that would be a Uranus
transiting, the fifth actually,so that would be a Uranus in the
fifth house, kind of thing.

Bootes (19:48):
Have you ever seen Uranus in the fifth house?

Sunny (19:50):
natally, no um, I probably have, but nothing is
coming to mind okay, yeah, yeah.

Bootes (20:02):
So it would probably uh, come up in kind of similar ways
with people is just havingunconventional or very
questioning attitudes towardsart and towards creativity,
probably in a good way.
That would open the individualup to a lot of possibilities

(20:24):
that are just unorthodox.
That's something that I'veheard with like a key word with
Uranus often is unorthodox, isunorthodox.
One description I had heard ofUranus that I will quote and
credit the author for when I cango back and find him, because I

(20:48):
haven't thought about this in along time.
I don't remember who it was,but he called Uranus, in
Capricorn in particular,deliberately unprofessional, and
I really related to thatbecause I like understand
professionalism as a concept andin a lot of ways I find it to

(21:13):
be very stifling.
Um, and that the, the Orthodoxway of doing Capricornian things
sometimes makes sense, butsometimes, if you pick it apart
and you really look at it andkind of take it down to its
foundation, like it's, it'ssomething that's unnecessary or

(21:34):
something that is actuallyunhelpful and it's just done for
the sake of tradition.
Um, and that is something thatI don't allow myself to really
subscribe to Like.
As soon as I've gotten ontothat train of thought and
started questioning that thingand sort of gotten to a some

(21:56):
sort of personal understandingabout it.
That's when I decide like I'meither completely discarding
this or I am keeping it, um, andonly the utilitarian or uh, fun
stays around well, um, a couplethings that I wanted to hit
before we got to the end andbefore I lose my light.

(22:18):
Oh yeah.

Sunny (22:20):
Is that ancient astrologers did not have the
concept of Uranus.
They did not use Uranus becausethey had not yet discovered
Uranus.
Okay, so Uranus is actuallyvisible in the night sky, in a

(22:41):
very dark sky.
I have seen it a few times, butit's really only obvious if you
know where to look.
You can only find it if youknow where it is, which is the
opposite of what of thesituation that the ancients had.

(23:02):
They didn't, they didn't knowabout uranus, they didn't know
where it was, and so they theycould not find it.
You know, they never found it.
It's, it's a very dim light, soit's.
It's not, um, it's notsomething that would have like
venus does, for example.

(23:25):
Um, so a lot of astrology, traditional astrologers do not
use the planet uranus and you go.
Well then, why have you beentalking about Uranus this whole
time?
It's because I do.
I'm I'm a Hellenisticastrologer, but, and, and so you

(23:49):
know, by strict interpretation,I would not use Uranus, neptune
or or Pluto.
But each of these planets hassomething useful to tell us and
since we now know where thoseare, unlike our Greek ancestors,

(24:09):
we use them, you know, or wecan use them, right.
So they're very useful.

Bootes (24:19):
They're just a little more esoteric than venus, for
example the uh, the symbologythat goes along with the outer
planets seems to me to be a lotmore thematic as opposed to
storyline oriented.

(24:41):
When you have and especially itcomes out in mundane astrology a
lot more like the cycles ofthat countries go through as
they have their uranus returnsand like all the squares and
oppositions and stuff like youcan, you can see that pretty
clearly looking through acountry's history, looking
through like what were the?

(25:02):
What was uranus doing basicallyduring that time, according to
the transit against thecountry's like foundation chart,
and then the same thing withneptune and the same thing with
Pluto, but at an even greaterscale to where Pluto seems to
kind of follow not justcountries but like societies,

(25:24):
people groups somewhere.
That like if a country mightchange borders and names a few
times in 200 years, but thepeople group is going to
experience a pluto return, right.
So like we saw basic white guystuff I know a little bit about

(25:45):
european history pluto comesback around in and in europe you
can see that really play out umpluto return last year or the
year before?
Yeah, Right, right.
Pluto coming back into, likemoving through Capricorn and
then Aquarius, has been hugethings in the United States in

(26:06):
particular, and so you canreally see that, like the last
time Pluto was there, we had 13colonies, like there weren't 50
states and we were fighting arevolutionary war, and you know
right yeah, but then pluto comesback around and we see similar
themes, very different thingshappening, but there's similar

(26:27):
themes that the people group isgoing through.
And so it's just kind of like,as you get further and further
out from the earth in thatgeocentric order of planets, you
zoom out another layer andanother layer and another layer
and it's to me it fits with thatsaturn was the outermost planet

(26:50):
in the astrology of theancients and then but like a
barrier is just something withwith more stuff on the other
side.
There's nothing past that.
That's the fence, and past thefence is past the fence.
Well, uranus is what's past thefence.
Uranus is the breaking ofboundaries or the passing of

(27:10):
boundaries, and then more andmore as you get out to Neptune
and Pluto, which we'll addressin Neptune and Pluto episodes.
But I think that the kind ofsymbology of it works and I
guess that the reason I bringthat up is because when I first
was getting into it, I for thelongest time have had a really
hard time with Uranus and withNeptune and with Pluto and it's

(27:34):
taken a lot of time ofobservation and contemplation to
sort of get an idea of what itactually means beyond keywords.
You can look up on astroseek.

Sunny (27:48):
You were aware that we're coming up on another Uranus
return.
It's interesting that youtalked about that Uranus in
Gemini.
When the country was founded, when the documents were signed,
uranus was in Gemini.
This is getting ready to goback into Gemini and there's

(28:10):
some really for further research.
The astrology podcast has atleast one interesting probably
more than one interestingpodcast about Uranus returns and
Uranus returns in the chart ofthe United States.

(28:33):
Yeah.
And experience a frighteningscenario of for the future of of
this country, because Uranusseems to be associated with.
Every time Uranus goes intoGemini, we are at war or we go
to war every single time so far,and it's a little creepy and

(29:01):
not so exciting.

Bootes (29:03):
But also you gave me a lot of anxiety the first time I
heard about it, so, like, ifyou're somebody who is prone to
divinatory anxiety, it might besomething to wade into
cautiously because it is likeit's big stuff and that's for me
personally at least.
I came to astrology because itseemed to give the hardest

(29:26):
answers out of the divinatoryarts and the most blunt answers
in a lot of situations.
And, uh, it's one of those oneswhere it's like, oh, hey, wow,
that uh isn't just about, um,you know, my relationship with
my parents or how I feel aboutart.

(29:48):
Um, this is about the, thestate of my, my people, my
country, my nation, and it'strue for anybody in any nation,
in any country, anywhere in theworld.
You can look at the history ofyour region through time and
what happens with varioustransits, and that's really like

(30:11):
the meat of astrology.
Meat of astrology.
And I think that's contributedto the stoic philosophy of don't
get too excited about goodthings or too worked up about
negative things, becauseeverything kind of goes both
ways, like up and down, and ifyou're constantly riding that
wave, that's going to beexhausting.

(30:32):
We have the privilege and orcurse of being humans and
whatever is going to come aboutthrough this transit and through
any other transit.
It's going to be the humanexperience which is sometimes
sitting at the top of the Ferriswheel with the person you love,
kissing them, watchingfireworks, and sometimes it's a

(30:57):
ship sinking at sea.
That's, that's reality andthat's the world that we live in
.
So, in my dealing with theanxiety around various things
that have come up in astrologyit's not just the Uranus return.
I'm good at scaring myself I'vecome to appreciate more a

(31:18):
broader perspective on myself asa human.
In a place during a time doingthings, there's a situation,
there's a set and setting foreverything that's going on.
I am very lucky to be here andI am also not more or less
special than anybody else who ishere.

(31:40):
We'll probably have a mixtureof good things and unpleasant
things, really lucky things andsuper unjust things happen to me
through my life and everybodywill, and that's a spectrum.
Some people get more shit thanthey should.
Uh, both positive and negative, but that's a higher powers

(32:01):
place to decide and not mine.
I just figured out how to I itfeels like figuring out how to
look at the code thataccompanies the program that's
going on.
It's just like, oh, I can justread about it now.
It doesn't change the factthat's going on.
It's just like oh, I can justread about it now.
It doesn't change the fact thatit's happening.
I just know about it more indepth through these signs and
symbols in the sky.

Sunny (32:25):
Yep Love that.
Okay, thank you for puttingthat so well.

Bootes (32:31):
Oh, thank you for letting me sit here and talk.

Boysober

Boysober

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
