En México, los niños, niñas y adolescentes hijos de toxicómanos son un grupo en alto riesgo y, sin embargo, sus derechos están desdibujados en las políticas públicas concernientes a las drogas y de derechos de las infancias. Al igual que sus padres, muchos de ellos han desarrollado adicción por sustancias, solo que, a diferencia de antes, cuando el problema era con la marihuana o el alcohol, hoy es la metanfetamina: la droga ilícita de mayor impacto en México y la segunda con la que se inicia el consumo. Los testimonios presentados en este capítulo son de niños en rehabilitación, en un centro privado en Cancún, Quintana Roo, que Ricardo Hernández visitó para conocer mejor a esta población hoy abandonada por el Estado.
