Hello, Clarisse, welcome back orwelcome to autopsy of a crime.

(02:34):
Thank you so much for being herelistening to my little podcast
that could. It was a regular Tuesday morning
when I received a message on Instagram from Jana Goiski
Laudiger and I hope I did not slaughter your name Jana.

(02:57):
If I did, please forgive me. Please.
It was just a regular Tuesday morning.
I see that I have a message request.
I open it and it is Jana asking that I cover her sister's case

(03:20):
and her sister is Crystal McCrory Jones.
I immediately dug in. This isn't a case that I had
ever come across before. As I researched into this case

(03:41):
that I had never heard of before, it struck me Crystal's
story echoed so many similarities of other cases.
I've COVID cases that were mishandled.
However, this may be the most brutally fucked up investigation

(04:05):
I've ever come across. This case will enrage you.
I am enraged, but I will tell you this, Jana is 1 hell of a
woman and I commend her for refusing to give up in her

(04:27):
search for answers. As a woman, if something never
happened to me, I can only pray that I have someone like Jana
fighting for me. Jana and Crystal, this one is
for you. Crystal McCrory Jones was more

(04:56):
than just another name on a coroner's report.
She was a mother, daughter, a sister and an aunt.
Friends describe her as lively, thoughtful, and strong willed,
someone who cared fiercely for her family and never shield away
from speaking her mind. Crystal was known to be type A

(05:22):
and she enjoyed keeping herself well put together.
Crystal took pride in her appearance, even with health
struggles that didn't keep her down.
Crystal had a few false starts at marriage, but incredible
gifts from each her two beautiful sons.

(05:42):
At 43 years old, Crystal found herself married again to a man
who promised her the world, TonyJones.
On February 9th, 2023, everything came crumbling down.
Crystal was dead and her family was shattered.

(06:04):
Struggling with grief and haunted by questions that law
enforcement seemed all too eagerto make.
Go away. Though Crystal is gone, her
sister Jana remains relentless in her search for answers.
In a small town with a population of roughly 1350

(06:25):
people, what do you do when those tasked to serve and
protect would rather protect their own?
The blue line is fickle. Were all of the mistakes in
Crystal's case intentional? Or perhaps the investigation was
flawed because her husband was one of their own, and perhaps

(06:52):
his word was taken as truth. When Crystal missed a doctor's
appointment, her husband Tony Jones phoned a cop and friend
Chuck Harris asking that he do awelfare check on Crystal.
Tony was a deputy for a short time and new mini Oak Grove

(07:15):
officers. Tony Jones requested this
welfare check because he said that he was busy at he and
Crystal's karate studio and had a studio full of kids.
On the phone, Tony guided Chuck Harris through the couple's home
into the bedroom, almost as though he knew what Chuck Harris

(07:40):
would find and was too much of Acoward to go himself.
Inside the Goodwill Louisiana home, Crystal was dead,
suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
A pillow covered her face, A gunrested in her hand.

(08:01):
It was found that the bullet entered on the right side near
Crystal's temple and exited on the left near her ear and left
projectile markings on the pillow as well as the headboard.
However, the shell casing was nowhere to be found.

(08:22):
There was no note. It took only one hour and 45
minutes for the West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office to roll
her death a suicide. It's important to note that the

(08:45):
pillow covering Crystal's face was a detailed never uttered.
This was never told to Crystal'sfamily.
It took Jana doing many records requests and viewing the crime
scene photos herself of her sister to find this out.
Tony Jones called to deliver thenews to Dane McCrory, Crystal's

(09:12):
brother, who then called Janna. As soon as Janna heard, she
rushed to Crystal's hall. Despite driving through the
three different towns, Janna arrived in roughly 16 minutes.
Tony, on the other hand, who wasin the very same town as
Crystal, arrived within 14 minutes.

(09:32):
This route and arrival time suggests that Tony was not in a
rush. He was not speeding, seemingly
not at all in a hurry. Tony Jones embraced Jana when he
arrived and stated, quote, it was a single gunshot wound to

(09:53):
the head. End Quote.
Tony Jones's teenage daughter Cheyenne then approached Jana
and simply hugged her with no tears and said quote, my best
friend is dead. End Quote.
It didn't take long for Crystal and Tony's front yard to be
flooded by acquaintances and family members of Tony Jones.

(10:15):
Sherri Graves Cherrier approached Jana and told her how
depressed Crystal had been and blamed Crystal's antidepressants
for why she killed herself. Truly the nerve.
Who did this woman think she was?
She went on to tell Janna that all the signs were there.

(10:36):
No matter how many silly memes she sent Crystal, she wouldn't
laugh. Well, maybe you're just not that
funny, Sherry. While this horror is
unravelling, Tony approaches Janna and asks where she would
like Crystal's funeral to be. Of all the times he just had to

(11:01):
ask this right now, Jana is veryfirm and clear.
She wants Crystal's funeral to be in Bastrop, not Oak Grove.
Despite Jana being on scene, Crystal's very own sister,
police did not bother to speak to Jana, instead they mingled

(11:24):
with Tony's family. Jana overheard a man tell Tony
quote we still have to send her body off for autopsy and quote
Officers addressed Tony Jones's family by their first names
while never asking as much as who Janna was.

(11:48):
As the scene cleared and Crystal's body was carried out
of the home in a body bag and infront of her sister, Tony headed
to the police station 12.2 milesaway and this drive somehow took
Tony 40 minutes. Once again, no urgency at all,

(12:12):
no display of care for his wife.On February 13th, 2023 at 10 AM,
several family members met at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA
to go over arrangements for Crystal.
Tony brings a man named Todd Nevels to the Bastrop location

(12:35):
of Cox Funeral Home. Although he is primarily
employed by the Oak Grove location.
Seemingly Tony Jones did this due to the fact that he only
wanted people from the town of Oak Grove involved in the
process of anything dealing withCrystal's death.
We have to wonder why Mr. Neville's was not just an

(13:00):
employee of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove, but Tony Jones had
done an abundance of handyman work at both the Oak Grove
location as well as at Mr. Neville's home.
Convenient. Once again a friend of Tony's,

(13:21):
someone with questionable motives, forcefully involved at
such a sensitive time. Also worth noting, Tony Jones is
not a licensed contractor and isworking under an inactive and or

(13:43):
revoked license since 2018, despite claiming he has an HVAC
business. Lovely, isn't it?
When the family asked for a nicedress of crystals for her
services, Tony Jones informed them he had already packed them

(14:04):
away. And on that very same day,
around 11:51 AM, Tony would Google quote what is the
appropriate time to date after the death of a spouse?
End Quote. I don't know Tony, but probably
not just mere days afterwards, Tony Jones and his Disgusting

(14:30):
Glory then alerts the Funeral Home on February 15th that he
wants to see Crystal in full hair and makeup as soon as
possible. On the same day as Janna and
Julie, Crystal's sister-in-law, were at the Funeral Home
preparing Crystal for her Funeral services, they noticed

(14:51):
many bruises on Crystal's body. When they brought this to the
attention of the Funeral Home director, he stated quote, none
of these injuries would be the result of an autopsy process.
End Quote. The women were advised by the
funeral director to take photos of Crystal's body.

(15:12):
The injuries of these injuries, there were abrasions and
lacerations on Crystal's left forearm, as well as bruising.
Crystal was missing a fingernailon her left ring finger.

(15:34):
Crystal's fingernails were freshly painted, yet they had
dirt and debris under them, which was not like Crystal in
her very type, a kind of personality who liked to take
care of herself, who liked to keep herself well kept up.

(15:57):
There was dirt under her fingernails, and she had
extensive bruising on her legs and in her thighs.
When I was reading over this I thought to myself, you know the
reports say she was found on herleft side and lividity comes to

(16:20):
mind. While researching for this
podcast episode, I listened to some other podcasts about
Crystal and some people felt that you cannot get bruising
after you've died and you can't you can't get bruising after you

(16:40):
have passed away. However, the blood will settle
in the body in the way that the body is laying and it mimics or
will look like bruises. And Jana was so kind to send me

(17:03):
so many documents, timelines, crime scene photos and these
marks. I'm not a professional, but I do
not believe our lividity marks, most importantly crystals in our

(17:28):
thighs. If you are laying on your left
side and you pass away, it makessense that you would get
lividity on the inside thigh of your right leg and on the outer
part of your left leg. However, Crystal has bruising on

(17:51):
the inside of both of her thighs, which makes me feel as
though her body was manipulated. That she was moved around.
That the way she was found is not perhaps the position she was
in when she passed away, that she was moved after that, and

(18:15):
perhaps after a period of time was then moved again.
Because these bruises on her thighs make absolutely no sense.
On the following day, February 16th, Tony Jones visits the
Funeral Home to view his deceased wife with a new woman

(18:37):
in tow. The funeral director told Tony
how inappropriate this was to have a woman of no relation
present to view his wife's remains.
However, Tony insisted she was afriend.
So let let's pause. I know this is a lot to take in.

(18:59):
It's like drinking from a firehose.
I have viciously scoured every document that Jana so graciously
shared with me and the more I learned, the more angry I was.
This is the most flawed and non existent investigation I have

(19:25):
ever covered. The conflicts of interest scream
to the high heavens. The very Police Department that
Tony Jones worked for. Sheriff's Department
investigated his wife's death. This should have immediately

(19:48):
been given to an outside agency who was not friends with Tony
Jones. Is it that difficult?
Is it that difficult? So to recap, we have Crystal
McCrory Jones found deceased in her bed, a pillow covering her

(20:13):
face, a gun in her right hand, and a single gunshot wound to
her head. Aside from the unusual way that
Crystal was found on her left side with a pillow over her
face, as I mentioned, one of herfingernails was missing.
She had scratches on her arm, dirt under her nails, and this

(20:36):
was not common for Crystal. This was a woman who took pride
in her appearance and very visibly within the crime scene
photos, Crystal's dog is laggingon the bed.
The flagrant disregard is despicable.

(20:57):
No regard for the dog, which in raging.
I'm an animal lover, I have a dog and I can't imagine this.
No regard for the dog and no regard for preserving a
potential crime scene. They are taking crime scene

(21:17):
photos of Crystal and the dog ison the bed on the bed wounds on
Crystal's body indicative of a struggle.
My personal first thought when Iwas going over the details of

(21:38):
this case and finding that her face was covered with a pillow.
I couldn't help but think of other cases I've followed where
a killer covers their victim's face because they don't want to
see their victim or have to facewhat they've done.

(21:59):
And then Tony Jones so conveniently requests a welfare
check to avoid finding what he seems to already know is there.
These facts blow my mind that this was determined a suicide,

(22:20):
let alone in less than two hours.
What evidence can possibly be found?
Reviewed and investigated in twohours, 2 hours?
The answer is none. None.
It's not possible. This rapid conclusion of suicide

(22:42):
has naturally been met with skepticism by Crystal's family,
who believes that the investigation was rushed and
incomplete, leaving critical questions unanswered and
potential evidence unexamined. And as I researched this case
inside and out and spoke to Jana, I agree.

(23:04):
Nothing about this is right. Nothing about this was thorough.
Nothing about this gives any sort of investigative effort at
all. I just don't know if it's a

(23:24):
cover up or if they were too quick to just believe a former
deputy and now simply cannot bring themselves to admit how
horribly they messed up. Several aspects of the case have
contributed to the belief that it was mishandled.

(23:47):
For instance, the involvement ofCrystal's husband, Tony Jones,
as mentioned, a former deputy with the West Carroll Parish
Sheriff's Department. It just screams conflict of
interest. Further, that missing shell
casing? Well, it was miraculously found

(24:09):
by Tony Jones nine days after Crystal's death.
Naturally, it raised doubts about the adequacy of the
initial investigation and suspicions that the casing was
planted. Initial reports indicated that
investigators could not locate the casing at the scene, yet

(24:31):
Tony was able to find it nine days later.
This casing was located a decentdistance from where Crystal was
on the bed. Now, I'm not a professional, but
I'm also not sure if the case scene would travel so far.
Additionally, it was in the verysame room on a vanity, yet it

(24:57):
was missed. Was it not looked for hard
enough, or was it not there at all?
Not until nine days later, theseissues have prompted calls for a
more thorough and impartial investigation into Crystal
Mccrory's McCrory Jones's death as her family continues to seek

(25:22):
answers and justice. Jana outright demands it, and I
don't blame her. I don't usually cuss on this
podcast, but this is fucking absurd.
To add insult to injury, Crystal's name is misspelled on
her autopsy report. Not one time, not two times, but

(25:48):
on every single page. Pathologist Frank Peretti
couldn't be bothered to spell her name correctly.
Her date of birth is listed as O5/17/19, when it should be O
5/17/79. Body temperature noted cold.

(26:11):
No precise body temperature is listed.
Who? Who has ever heard of such a
thing? Note Side note that very same
pathologist, Frank Peretti was later arrested for domestic
battery. Yeah, he was caught on camera
choking his wife. He pled guilty and received a

(26:34):
sentence of six months in jail, suspended in a one year
probation. He was sentenced on 5/6/2025.
If you think what you know so far is bad, I promise it's the
tip of the iceberg. Tony Jones had Crystal's body

(26:57):
cremated, despite many knowing Crystal wanted to be buried,
despite the family urging and trying everything to halt this.
Once the bizarre bruises were noticed, Tony Jones had
Crystal's remains cremated and proceeded to hold her remains

(27:19):
hostage from her family, from her sons.
When this piece of shit finally mailed Crystal's remains to her
oldest son, Corbin, the box was damaged and there was only about
1/4 of what should be ashes inside the urn.

(27:43):
No documentation, nothing to indicate this was truly
Crystal's remains. The package had $100 insurance
in the event it was lost or stolen as if it was a piece of
property. How do you put a price on your
mother's remains? And remember how Tony Jones

(28:09):
couldn't go check on Crystal because he had a karate studio
full of kids? Lies.
He wasn't busy. He spent majority of his day
driving around aimlessly. Jana provided an incredible
timeline and it will be available on Sub Stack if you
would like to read it in its entirety.

(28:30):
It is very lengthy and it goes point by point.
He is just wandering all over. Apparently he even at one point
visits a high school and says hewas at this school, Forest High

(28:53):
School, located at 158 Clover St.
Oak Grove, LA. He says he was working all day.
So I mean that sounds great, butschools hire private maintenance
workers. No random Joe Blow can just go
work at a school. Not to mention, Tony Jones's LLC

(29:18):
license is revoked for years, therefore he's not insured,
therefore no bookkeeper would beable to pay him for whatever
services he claims he did. He then checks his daughter out
of school. He's just slowly driving around

(29:41):
all over the place. These drives that should be
short, he somehow is managing todrag them out much longer than
need be. Records show that it took Tony
Jones 35 minutes to drive his daughter 6.2 miles from Forest
High School to a Sonic Drive in a drive that should have only

(30:06):
been 9 minutes. He's just wandering all over the
place. He's picking up his daughter,
he's stopping out of school. He's going to Sonic.
He went to Walmart. It's disgusting, despicable.
The timeline is available in substack if you would like to look

(30:28):
at it. So with the timeline, why could
Tony Jones not check on his wife?
Why did he need Chuck Harris to go check on his wife?
He wasn't working. Not only was he not working, he

(30:48):
was not at the karate studio with a bunch of kids like he
said he was. I don't know.
It reeks of a coward who alreadyknew what would be found,
doesn't it? And although Tony Jones packed
Crystal's belongings away with the utmost urgency, he had no

(31:11):
interest in any of the Funeral Home visitation cards, the
visitation book, and so on. He took nothing.
But Tony Jones has never had a thought that he didn't believe
he needed to post on Facebook. And so, only one day after

(31:31):
Crystal's death, on Valentine's Day no less, he tippity taps to
share his thoughts on Facebook and lets everyone know that he
spent his first night back at the house and it wasn't as bad
as he thought it would be. What?

(31:52):
What? And again, while all of this
might sound like the worst thingyou have ever heard, to be
blunt, the most ridiculous bunchof shit you have ever heard, it
only gets worse. Everything you learn, it is

(32:14):
somehow worse. This bastard compounded grief
and angst on Crystal's family, on her siblings, on her sons.
How in the hell does this happen?
How I just, I, I really, truly, I want to know how this happens.

(32:39):
I know that this is a lot to take in.
I'm still taking it in myself. I have a gnarly adrenaline rush
from familiarizing myself with all of this and just the anger
that it brings because only a fool would believe any of this.

(33:03):
This is complete garbage nonsense.
I will be creating a Part 2 because believe it or not,
there's still so much to go over.
I want to go over Crystal's toxicology report, the laptop of

(33:26):
crystals that Jana was able to get into her possession, and go
through what a treasure trove that was.
And I want to go over allegations of sexual assault on
minors by none other than Tony Jones.

(33:50):
This is where I will leave you for now, and I leave you with
this. Did Crystal McCrory Jones truly
take her own life? Or was her voice silenced by
something far more sinister? Perhaps a pedophile husband on
the very verge of being caught.
