Speaker 1 (00:00):
action.
So hello, dear listeners, andwelcome to this week's edition
of Awakened ConsciousConversations podcast.
I'm your host, the Gentle YogaWarrior, and those of you who
have been with me since thestart have probably seen how
much this podcast has changedNow 100%.
I have a guest booked on fornext week and I apologize for
(00:23):
not being online last week.
My immune system hasn't beenquite the same since my trip and
I've picked up a bug and I'mstill not 100%, but I'm at least
able to record you a podcastthis week and I'm fully
committed to getting my immunesystem back up to its usual
vibrant, amazing self.
And I thought what better thingto talk about today is something
(00:46):
that I'm working on, or rather, there's a set of things I'm
working on I've seen as wrong, and one of them in the seven
deadly sins is envy or jealousy.
But if we, kind of like, sayall the time that that side of
the self is wrong and um, wedeny that we ever have these
(01:07):
feelings, then they don't fullyget a chance to to fully heal.
And jealousy so jealousy, um, Ifeel is is an emotion that um
(01:33):
can change people and peopletrying to keep it hidden, and a
shame is sewn into jealousy andI would suspect that jealousy
probably is on its rise in thissociety just due to the
(01:53):
comparison on social media thatthere is so much in this
everyday life and also, and alsokind of celebrities need to
always look young and theygenerally have a lot of money,
so a lot of people can't reallyget to that or choose not to.
(02:15):
I'm just using that as anexample.
Is that's not the only thing ofjealousy?
Jealousy can have many differentcoats.
It's from a place of pain orfrom deep pain of feeling
inadequate, um, not good enough.
Something might have triggeredit from that childhood and it's
kind of still sewn into ourbeing.
(02:35):
And jealousy can have, like wekind of feel threatened by
others and and, um, not ourself, and maybe we want something
that someone else has got, or wehave this perception of them
having a a better life than us,um, and there's all different
levels of jealousy and if it's avery severe part of jealousy,
(02:58):
then obviously I would suggestthat you get some sort of
professional help.
I'm just I'm talking about theeveryday kind of lighter um
jealousy that we have, likemaybe someone cheated on us
before and then we don't trustour current partner, so that
would put pressure on therelationship because of hurtful
experiences, or maybe you had aparent that favored one of your
(03:23):
siblings more than you and theyfelt jealous because of that,
and there's all different kindof ways in which we can feel
jealous and not kind of there.
And the great late Carl Jung dida lot of work on our shadow and
(03:43):
and the importance ofunderstanding it and bringing it
into the present moment.
So if you do have some shadowqualities that you feel are kind
of like stuck and you wouldlike a shamanic healing session
or a long distance energyhealing session,
shamanichealingsearth and I willhelp you to remove some aspects
(04:07):
of yourself which you no longerfeel serves you.
But getting back to today'spodcast, and how can I help you
with jealousy?
So the great philosopher, as Isaid, carl Jung, I was able to
recognize that we have all theseshadow qualities and yet we try
and do so much to kind of hidethem and suppress them that they
(04:28):
sometimes come out when weleast expect something will
trigger them and then we'll justfeel kind of that extreme of
that of that emotion and knowingwhat our shadow qualities are,
knowing how they, how they, howthey can make us react and how
to integrate them into our beingis a very um, liberating and
(04:54):
wonderful thing that you can do.
Can you think of times that whenyou felt really jealous um, was
it to do with a partner?
Was it to do with a colleague?
Was it to do with someone youdon't even know?
Was it something completelysilly, ridiculous?
And how did that jealousy comeout?
(05:14):
What was the trigger for thatjealousy?
So, by all means, listen to thepodcast and they can go back
with a pen and paper and workwith this.
And what was your navigationpoint through this?
So how could you kind of bringyourself out of that jealousy?
So the jealousy is there tokind of let you know that
there's a part of you that feelsreally vulnerable and hurt, and
(05:37):
by learning to heal that, thenyou're going to have better
relationships with yourself, with other people, and they
won't suffer at the wrath ofyour kind of insecurities.
At the same time, sendingyourself some lovely, loving,
compassion and and kindnesstowards yourself can make a
massive, huge difference withinall this.
(05:59):
And just to quote the great lateroman, roman amazing poet, he
asked in one of his poems areyou jealous of the ocean's
generosity?
Why would you refuse to givethis joy to oneself.
Fish don't hold the sacredliquid in cups.
They swim in the huge fluid offreedom.
(06:19):
So I'll repeat that are youjealous of the ocean's
generosity?
Why would you refuse to givethis joy to oneself?
Fish don't hold the sacredliquid in cups, they swim the
huge fluid freedom.
So maybe we should try andunpack that now together.
(06:39):
So are you jealous of theocean's generosity?
So the ocean can feel like it'sinfinite, right, and it's got
lots of fish in it.
But they're not thinking, oh,there's no joy for those fish,
there's no generosity for thefish.
So why would you refuse to giveyour joy to anyone?
So that, to me, feels like.
(07:01):
It's like thinking, likeactually there is enough, I have
enough, there is enough foreveryone.
Why would we refuse to givethem joy?
And fish don't hold sacredliquid in cups.
They swim in the huge fluidfreedom.
So it's not about grasping orthinking that that comes from
like a place of lack.
(07:21):
Grasping or thinking that thatcomes from like a place of lack,
um, but seeing the infinitenessof oneself and the infiniteness
of one's soul is is anabsolutely beautiful way to kind
of bring the depth into this.
Maya Angelou said and I likethis a lot.
(07:42):
Think of love as a state ofgrace, not the means to anything
but the alpha and omega, an endin itself.
How would you like to navigatethrough feelings of jealousy?
Are you aware when they pop upand do they change the way you
act?
These are foods for thought andvery much worthy of a like five
(08:08):
minute journal each day and letme know how you get on, if it
helps building, bring you backinto a state of awareness and
how it's going to help you today.
So thank you for listening.
So remember, if you would likesome help with removing these
shadow qualities, then do reachout to me at

(08:30):
Top tips for the meditation iseither sit nice and cross-legged
on the floor with a nicestraight back, always nice to
sit on a block or a cushion, orthat's not available for you.
You sit in a chair with theback nice and straight.
The important thing is you'renot slouching and if you're
doing something that requiresyour concentration, all you need
to do is just pause this andyou can reconvene the meditation
(08:53):
at a time that is good for you.
If you're doing the meditation, let's begin.
So, as you close your eyes, just feel that darkness around
you and remember the universalwomb of the world, the way that
(09:13):
we're held is we sleep at nightand by going into that darkness,
that space of being the spacewhere life came from, that space
, within that space of stillness, a space without distractions.
And yet, if distractions comeand go in this meditation, just
(09:35):
allow them to be like a wavegoing over you.
You do not have to, you do nothave to attach yourself to any
thoughts.
Just because they come does notmake them so, and you can allow
them to be there withoutfighting them.
But equally, you can be in whoyou are now.
So you're just going to takesome slow, calm, deep breaths.
(09:58):
This is all that you need to doas you navigate through today's
meditation.
Just think slowness, calmness, allowing ourselves to fully be
in and out through the nostrils,as you just allow the slow,
calm breath of the inhalation, the slow, calm breath of the
(10:21):
exhalation, as you flow withthis breath and you just allow
it to be.
So calm breaths in a rhythm thatis in rhythm with you, do no
need to force, do no need torush, but allowing that breath
(10:41):
to be Feeling held, loved andsupported, feeling the universal
hug of the universal womb, thatplace of being that place of
knowing, that place of stillnesswithin, just feeling the warmth
, the kindness, the care.
(11:03):
And as you are here in thismoment, breathing and allowing
yourself to simply be, can youthink of a word to boost your
morale, something that yourespect and like about yourself,
something that you allowyourself to be, this calmness,
(11:26):
this love, and you can remindyourself of that kind word as
you go throughout the day.
So, when some negativity triesto creep in, can you bring this
word, this vision, into youreveryday life.
Vision into your everyday life, and this is the way to take the
(11:49):
mindfulness, the yoga, thephilosophy off the mat and into
your everyday life.
So take a nice, final, calm, deep breath in this meditation,
as you inhale, as you exhale, asyou slowly come back into the
room, back into the moment.
