A simple walk through Kew Gardens became a doorway to wonder. Wandering past Victorian glasshouses and autumn leaves, I stumbled into a rare moment of stillness: a young deer foraging in the quiet. That encounter wasn’t just beautiful—it reshaped how one can think about courage, grace, and the way the unexpected can interrupt a tired routine and hand us back our attention.

That poise inspired a guided meditation that carries you into a moonlit forest: crystalline trees, a humming river, silver light, and a warm blanket of belonging. The imagery isn’t fluff—it’s a map for calm. Each sensory detail helps the nervous system shift from urgency to steadiness, and the breath becomes the bridge that makes it stick.

If this journey resonates, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs some steadiness, and leave a review so others can find these moments of grace too.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
Welcome to today's show.
I was on a day trip in thewonderful Kew Gardens.
If you've never been and youever get to come to London, I
highly recommend it.
It dates back to the 16thcentury.
It houses some of the biggestcollection of plant life in the
world.

(00:21):
And it is so beautiful.
Like there's these really old, like Victorian green houses
there, and it is beautiful.
And you kind of can imagine likeHenry VIII kind of going through
there.
So it's got a lot of historythere, but it's stunning,
beautiful, magical.

(00:41):
And I really enjoyed my daytrip.
I had this wonderful experiencewhere I was in a bit because the
thing is with Q, it's so bigthere can be parts where you
walk around for a bit and youdon't really see anybody.
And I was kind of in one ofthose bits, autumnal leaves
everywhere, and I spotted alittle creature, and I knew it
couldn't be a dog because peopledon't bring dogs into Q.

(01:04):
And I was just thinking, well,oh, it's a deer, and it was an
adolescent deer.
And it that this adolescent deerwas being really resourceful.
It was kind of collecting bitsof nuts and things from the
ground, foraging and stuff, butalso being aware of it's around
is obviously not well enoughbecause it didn't spot me, or

(01:26):
maybe it did, and I justrealized I wasn't kind of gonna
hurt it.
Who knows?
I can't get inside the mind of aof an adolescent deer, but it
was it was really beautiful tobehold, and it felt such a gift
because it made me well, I Ifelt compelled to s to pause.

(02:25):
Obviously, now in the UK wedon't have wolves, but in one
point this deer would have beenkind of looking for its life.
It was in it was in a safeplace, it was in inside a giant
s estate that is kind of walledoff, so there wasn't much danger
of cars coming past, which istends to be the biggest killer,

(02:46):
unfortunately, of deers thesedays.
It was being very resourcefulnow and collecting what it
needed to eat, and it just itjust what it gave me was it
reminded me that of theunexpected that we can have.
You know, we think life can be abit kind of boring and samey
samey, and then every once in awhile something pops up like

(03:07):
that and makes everything a bitmore fun and a bit more
different.
So it was it was a real grace toto see that.
And I always think of deer whenI see deer, it makes me think of
grace and that wonderful faith.
And this deer I felt had faithin nature and its surroundings,

(03:28):
and also a sign of power andpeace, so it's powerful,
beautiful, but also peaceful.
And I always think deers arevery spiritual creatures, they
have a beautiful mythology aboutthey almost feel like they're
kind of like messages from fromthe realm of of nature.

(03:52):
Seeing a deer alive andbeautiful like that is a real
blessing.
There's something very saintlyabout them, graceful, and and
reminds me to kind of allowmyself to be more me in life.
Seeing this deer was a blessing, and in the sense that it was a

(04:14):
it feels like it's a pinnaclepoint in what I'm trying to do
next.
I think it's best I'll sharemore once I feel that I'm kind
of at that bit, but I can feelthe the kind of swing swinging
the way that it feels like Iwant it to, rather than this

(04:34):
uphill kind of struggle that ithas been for a while.
So watch this space, dearlisteners.
And here is a deer-inspiredmeditation.
Top tips for the meditation iseither sit nice and cross-legged
on the floor with a nicestraight back, always nice to
sit on a block or a cushion, orthat's not available for you.

(04:56):
You sit in a chair with the backnice and straight.
The important thing is you'renot slouching.
And if you're doing somethingthat requires little
concentration, all you need todo is just pause this and you
can reconvene the meditation ata time that is good for you.
If you're doing the meditation, that's vegan.

(05:16):
So as you close your eyes, youfind yourself in a mystical
forest.
This forest is ancient, and thetrees are so old that they
glisten with mystical crystalscapturing times that are even

(05:40):
older than this old mysticalforest.
And there's a gentle frost andsnow.
But the moon has lit up theplace to see, and you find the
most warmest blanket to wraparound you as you sit softly on

(06:04):
the bottom of a forest.
In the background you can hearthe water of a river that
crosses the middle of theforest.
And in front of you, in thedistance, you can smell the

(06:26):
smoke of a fire of a cottagefire that's drifted in the wind
into this wonderful mysticalforest.
So though that this is co thisis a cold night, this blanket
you found keeps you evercomforted as this moon casts

(06:49):
slivery, beautiful silver lighteverywhere, and within this
forest floor you see some winterflowers like snow drops, etc
managing to be despite thechilly temperatures.

(07:11):
A soft damp leaf falls from anearby tree and you watch as it
cascades down to the floor.
All the time there's the hum ofthe water and the smell of this
beautiful old cottage somewherein the distance.

(07:34):
But you are here in this momentand you're reminded that this
place is like the courage thatyou have inside you, but so
often forget.
You are strong, you are amazing, and this courage is here for you

(07:57):
whenever you need to.
As you sit there, a family ofdeers come past you.
The stag's breath is magnificentas a silhouette against the
moonlit light.
The doll and their baby forage abit against the hardened,

(08:22):
slightly crispy ground of theforest.
And just for a moment, all threeof you capture each other's
eyes.
So you have a moment where youstare at them and they stare at
you, but both of you sense thatnot none of you want to harm one

(08:44):
another.
There's just this moment wheretime feels like it's kind of
stopped.
The mystical significance ofthis, the strength that you can
always turn on, the unexpectedbeauty if only you open your
eyes, and the power in the pose, just to be for when we are

(09:09):
still, that is when miracles canhappen and come to us.
So as you start to inhale in andout through the nostrils,
calming long deep breaths, youslowly now come back into the
moment, come back into the room, knowing that your mystical dear

(09:29):
self you can connect withwhenever you feel you need to
know where you're going in lifeor need a bit of courage.
So, thank you for listening, dear listeners.
