Send a message or voice memo

If you’ve ever felt life slam the brakes—through illness, heartbreak, loss, or burnout—this conversation invites you to see the pause not as punishment, but as protection. We open with breathwork to ground your nervous system, then move into a raw story of hosting a community challenge under an Aries full moon while navigating a cancer diagnosis, the pressure to be strong, and the quiet call to surrender. Along the way, we honor ancestral guidance and the radical idea that you don’t have to earn rest.

Together, we unpack why presence equals power and why power doesn’t always look like action. You’ll hear three core truths of the medicine of surrender: stillness is fertile soil, crying is cleansing, and asking for help is an initiation into safer love. We talk about emotional regulation in plain language—how to become the steady voice your inner child needed—using simple practices you can try today: a hand over your heart, a mantra that anchors safety, and permission to cancel what your body can’t hold.

We also guide you through a somatic meditation that roots you into the earth, warms the heart with golden light, and helps release perfectionism and the fear of being seen. You’ll leave with reflective journal prompts to integrate the insights, plus a renewed understanding of how ancestral wisdom, breathwork, and nervous system safety work together. If you’re ready to stop carrying what isn’t yours and trust the timing of your healing, this is your invitation to soften, receive, and let the pause become your portal.

If this resonates, follow the show, share it with someone who’s resisting their own pause, and leave a review so more gente can find this space. What are you ready to release today?

Dora (00:12):
Ay Mijita, welcome back.
If you're new here, my name isDora Alicia Praxedis, and this
is Ay Mijita, Embracing YourRaices, Reclaim Your Essencia,
where we peel back the layers ofwho we were told to be so we
can remember who we really are.
And today, I'm coming to youdesign.

(00:36):
Raw, tender, llena degratitude.
The last week, these lastcouple days, I've been walking
through fire and flowers at thesame time.
But today is the last day ofour challenge.
Ignite your fire under theAries full moon.
And I've been holding so muchlight, so many tears, and so

(01:00):
many mujeres finding theirvoice.
And letting yourself be heldwhen life forces you to slow the
fuck down.
So today, I want to speak tothat pause.

(01:22):
The one that we never askedfor, but ends up becoming the
medicine we needed all along.
Whether your pause came throughillness, heartbreak, loss, or
burnout, this episode is aninvitation to stop running from
the silence and listen to whatyour soul's been trying to tell

(01:44):
you all along.
Before we go deep, let's groundjuntos.
Wherever you are, maybe you'redriving, cooking, sitting with
cafecito, or your beverage ofchoice, I invite you to close
your eyes if it's safe.
And take a deep breath inthrough your nose and hold it at

(02:11):
the top.
And exhale slowly through yourmouth, like you're releasing the
weak.
Again, inhale la vida and holdat the top, and exhale el peso

(02:32):
que no es tuyo.
And because I love to doeverything in threes, one more
time.
Big inhale for grace and hold.
And exhale for surrender.

(02:52):
And feel those shoulders meltdown and lower.
Let's begin.
Hosting the challenge thisweek, it's cracked me open.
I watched Mujeres Light Candlesfor the first time in months.

(03:14):
I heard the quiver in somevoices saying, I'm ready to let
her go.
That version of me who alwayshad to be strong.
And I saw myself in everysingle one of them.
Because truthfully, while I washolding space for all of them
and all of you, my body washolding space for me.

(03:35):
The chemo talks, the doctorvisits, the tests, the labs, the
unknowns.
It's like life said, Mihita, you teach surrender, now it's
your turn to live it.
And I'm not gonna lie, Iresisted it at first.

(03:58):
I wanted to be strong, keeprecording, keep showing up like
nothing was changing.
But every night my body iswhispering Namas, rest.
The Aries full moon brought allthat fire, the desire to move,
to create, to push, but it'salso bringing up a mirror, the

(04:23):
reminder that fuego, fire, without faith can burn you out.
So careful when you play withfire.
And on the first night, when wewere doing the opening
ceremony, when we called in ourancestors, I felt my ancestors,

(04:44):
my abuela, my mom, my dad's mom,put her hands on my shoulder
and whisper, siéntate mija.
You don't have to earn rest.
And dang shit that hit that hitme deep.
I'm not gonna lie.
Because she's one that hasn'tshown up yet.

(05:05):
When I talk to and I open myAkashic Records and talk to my
masters, teachers, and lovedones.
Because growing up, pausingfelt like weakness.
I saw me mama working throughpain.
Me papa never stopping evenwhen he was sick.
He would go to work actuallywhen he was sick.

(05:26):
So my nervous system learnedthat to pause meant you'd fall
behind.
But this week, after all theenergy, all the community love,
all the tears, my body said, ifyou don't slow down, I'll slow
you down.
So I listened.

(05:47):
I let myself cry.
I let myself take a bath withsome aromatherapy.
I let my daughter cook dinner.
I sat outside barefoot and letthe sun be my limpia during my
work day.
And I realized pausing isn'tpunishment, it's protection.

(06:12):
The pause is sacred.
It's where spirit can finallyget a word in edgewise.
So to anyone listening who'sbeen feeling that same pull,
that fatigue you keep ignoring, that whisper to take a break,
please know you're not a flojo.

(06:34):
You're not lazy, you're notbehind, you're being called back
to yourself.
In a minute, we'll dive intothe story of what happens when
life forces us to pause, whenyou don't get a choice but to
stop, and how to find thatmeaning in that stillness.

(06:56):
But before we move on, I wantyou to take one more deep breath
with me.
Inhale for every version of youwho had to be strong.
Exhale for the one who'slearning to be soft.
Let's continue.

(07:26):
For me, that moment came theday the phone rang with my

(07:48):
results.
My daughter was right therebeside me.
And on speaker, I remember thedoctor's voice, calm, clinical,
to study for the earthquake thathit my chest.
It's cancerous cells.
And all I could think was, no,not now.

(08:12):
I have plans.
I have people counting on me.
So that night I sat in silenceand I watched my daughter's face
as she tried to be strong forme.
And I realized we've both beentrained to be so brave.
When what we really need is tofeel.

(08:36):
Not because I wanted to, butbecause I didn't want to make

(09:14):
anyone uncomfortable.
Does that sound familiar toyou?
That's what we do.
We carry the unbearable soothers don't have to.
We self-sacrifice.
But the body keeps core.
The tears you don't cry, thewords you swallow, que te

(09:37):
tragas, they don't disappear.
They sink.
Sink, sink, sink into yourbody.
In the stillness after thewedding, when the music stopped
and my family slept, I I finallybroke.
I remember just cryingunconsolably in my pillow.

(09:59):
I prayed.
And they didn't say be strong.

(10:36):
They said descansar.
We got you.
That's the moment I understood.
Sometimes spirit knocks yougently, and sometimes she rips
the floor from under you.
So you can land where youactually belong.
Illness, heartbreak, loss, they're not punishments, they're

(11:05):
portals.
Portals that strip away thenoise.
So you can finally hear yourown soul again.
So if life has recently pausedfor you, if you're in the

(11:28):
waiting room, the unknown, thein-between, please know that
something beautiful isrearranging itself underneath
all that chaos.
You don't need to rush to fixit.
You just need to stay presentwith what is.

(11:48):
Because presence equals power.
And power doesn't always looklike action.
Sometimes it looks like tearson your pillow and faith in your
chest.
Let's take one breath togetherfor every time you were forced

(12:14):
to pause.
Inhale.
Thank you for the lesson.
Exhale.
I release the fight.
That's where healing begins.
You know, surrender gets a badreputation.

(12:39):
We think surrender means givingup.
Surrender is giving in tosomething bigger that's trying
to hold you.
In my own paws, I kept hearingone phrase over and over.
Stop carrying what isn't yours.

(12:59):
And that kind of became mymantra.
Every time my mind spiraled, what if this treatment fails?
What if I can't coach?
What if I can't do what I wantto do?
I placed my hand over my heartand whispered, I'm safe in this

(13:20):
pause.
At first, it felt fake.
Like, you know, I was justpretending.
But slowly my nervous systemstarted to believe it.
I started to embody it.
That's the practice ofemotional regulation.

(13:40):
You become the steady voiceyour inner niña never had.
Sometimes surrender looks likeletting the dishes sit.
Other times it's canceling ameeting because your body said
no.
Well, mine says probably hellno.
Sometimes it's allowing someoneelse to love you through the

(14:04):
mess.
And that's where I'm at rightnow.
Is I'm an emotional wreck and Isometimes just need a hug.
It's radical because we wereraised to push.
But the divine feminine teachesus to receive.
When you receive, you becomemagnetic.

(14:26):
You stop chasing what's alreadymeant for you.
The medicine of surrendertaught me three truths.
One, stillness doesn't meanstuckness.
It's the fertile soil where newseeds root.
So plant those seeds.
Number two, crying isn'tweakness, it's cleansing.

(14:51):
It's your limpia in liquidform.
Number three, asking for helpis an initiation.
Every quote unquote, can youhold me reteaches your nervous
system that love is safe.

(15:12):
These are not small things, they are revolutionary.
So take a moment to reflect onthose.
I want to invite you into amini practice right now.
Put one hand over your corazonand the other over your belly.

(15:38):
Now breathe in slowly throughyour nose.
Feel your belly rise.
Exhale through your mouth witha sigh.
Whisper to yourself.
I surrender the timeline.

(16:00):
Again.
I surrender the outcome.
And one more.
I surrender the need tounderstand.
Notice how your body softens.

(16:25):
That's your spirit sayinggracias.
The pause isn't empty.
It's full of guidance if youlisten.
And right now I'll guide youthrough a deeper meditation and
somatic journey so you canembody this surrender in your

(16:46):
own body and feel spirit whisperback to you.
Okay.
Ahora quiero que te acomodas.
If you can, lie down or sitsomewhere comfortable.

(17:06):
Let your spine be long, yourpalms open, facing up, feet
connected to the floor, or earthbeneath you.
We're going to journey inwardto the pause within you.

(17:37):
Start with your breath.
Inhale through your nose.
Hold for three.
And exhale through your mouthwith the sigh.
Again.

(18:02):
Inhale la vida.
Exhale thodo viejo.
With every breath.
Imagine roots growing from yourfeet into la Madre Tierra.

(18:29):
She's holding you.
You're not falling.
You're being cradled.
Now bring awareness to yourheart.

(18:56):
Imagine a soft golden lightswirling there.
Warm, alive.
Whisper inside.

(19:24):
I am safe to be still.
Let that phrase travel throughyour chest down your arms into

(19:45):
your belly.
Feel any tension melt.
If emotion rises, let it tears, chills, yawns.

(20:15):
All are signs of release.
The sun sets in fiery orange, the wind still.

(20:58):
Here in the silence you findyourself.

(21:27):
You kneel and place your handson the sand.
The earth pulses under you, whispering the stories of your

(21:55):
ancestors.
Inhale to the beat.
One, two, three, four.

(22:22):
Exhale one, two, three, four.
Each beat, imagine releasingone expectation you've been
carrying.
The need to be perfect.

(22:50):
The fear of being seen.
Now over your heart, whisper.

(23:38):
I forgive myself for the timesI ignored my body.
Again, I forgive myself forrushing my healing.
One more.

(24:06):
I trust the divine timing of mylife.
Feel that light in your heartexpand, radiating out through

(24:27):
your chest, filling the spacearound you.
This is your pause turning intopower.
Stay here a few breaths.

(24:47):
And when you're ready, slowlybring your awareness back.
Wiggle your fingers, your toes, roll your shoulders, whisper a

(25:17):
soft gracias.
Thank you.
After this meditation, take afew minutes to journal or voice
note what came up.
Number one, what has liferecently asked me to release or

(25:41):
slow down with?
Number two, where in my body doI still feel resistance to
rest?
Number three, what doessurrender mean to me?

(26:02):
Not in my mind, but in myheart.
And number four, who benefitswhen I finally choose softness?
Write sin filtros.
Cry if you need to, becauseevery tear, is a piece of your

(26:29):
healing, returning home.
Take one more deep breath.

(26:49):
Remember, the pause isn't yourpunishment, it's your
initiation.
Each time life whispers slowdown, she's inviting you to hear

(27:12):
the song beneath the noise.
I hope this episode remindedyou that your healing doesn't
have to be perfect, it just hasto be honest.
Yesunono for accompany me ineste camino de sanacion.
