Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hello, hello, hello.
This is Zach MatisseB from B2ZPodcast and welcome to season
two of the show.
I'm here with my co-host, asalways, Mr Brandon May.
Hello everybody.
It's-host as always, Mr BrandonMay.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Hello everybody.
It's been a long time man,what's up?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Knock us off with
some highlights.
What's been going on with you?
Because I know a lot's beengoing on with me.
What's been going on with you, brother?
Highlights yeah, give me ahighlight reel, oh my God.
Yeah, well, okay.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, it's been going
on with you, brother.
Highlights.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, give me a
highlight reel.
Oh my God, yeah Well, okay, yeah, it's been wild.
Yeah, yeah, give me a highlightreel.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Ooh well, season two
ended up on a high note with Jim
or Die, Jim Wharf.
I really enjoyed that episode.
That went really well.
The filming, the cinematographylooked really really good.
Shout out to Zach Peacock,Brian Brixton.
So that was a highlight forsure.
Just to kind of push thedevelopment of the show was
(01:20):
definitely a goal that I feellike we achieved.
From where we started to wherewe end, yeah, but as far as
positives, I don't got too manyof those motherfuckers.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah, shoot a
highlight reel of the negatives,
oh man, yeah, I mean.
So much has happened.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I mean, that's not to
be a downer Right.
Right, there's so much that'shappened.
I don't want to just I don'twant to take what it is that
we've gone through in these lastfew months and just say it in a
few minutes and act like it'snot that big of a deal.
We'll play well yeah we'll playit in.
It is a big deal I know, justfor so if you want cliff notes,
yeah, let's do cliff.
Obviously the location haschanged.
Location has changed um feelfree to ask questions.
(01:55):
You know, yeah, a lot of thestuff I can't get on get into,
but a lot of the stuff I willget into.
Um, but yeah, I no longer havemy studio anymore in riverside
california.
I chose to close it down due tolandlord issues that I was
having at the the building.
Um, man, it, we were filming Ithink it was danielle's episode
(02:21):
whose episode was it?
Long beach, long beach.
Yeah, danielle.
Yeah, yeah, we were, uh, wewere filming that episode and
everything was in a shit stormin my life.
at that point, right now, I justfelt like they were fucking
nitpicking and you know, I triedto resolve it and it didn't.
It didn't get resolved verywell.
So we came to the conclusion of, you know, cutting, cutting the
(02:42):
lease and good riddance, and Ithink it was a good move on my
point, just because, man, youknow, I make the moves that I
make in life for self, forhappiness, for clarity and, man,
when you carry toxic peoplearound in your life, it weighs
(03:05):
on you, and that was one ofthose things where it's just
like well, okay, yeah, I hit alot of goals by opening up that
business, and a lot of peoplecame to bat for me to open that
business and it came down to it.
It was really interesting howquick I had to make that
decision whether to just shut itdown based off of respect.
(03:27):
Respect, um, you know, uh, yeah, you know, the, the I was
getting calls and I was goingthrough things that I felt like
I shouldn't have to, that feltlike weren't pertaining to
business, and I called on it andthey chose to have the wrong
reaction and then we both wentour separate ways.
(03:47):
That's the best way that Icould put it in business terms.
Um, where you at now?
Uh, now I'm at Upland, uplandCalifornia, breakthrough Tattoo.
You guys come get a tattoothere.
I chose to go back into theshop to improve and progress my
artistry.
What I'm trying to do is evolvein the world of tattooing and
(04:09):
give myself somewhat of a raise, and there's several ways you
can do that, progression beingone of them.
So I surrounded myself with alot of high-caliber artists in a
fast-paced shop the best placethat I could put myself in.
And now we are over there.
I've been there for about twomonths.
It's going really, really well.
The industry is slow right now.
Some say it's not, some say itis.
(04:31):
For me it's slow, you know, butit's going well.
I'm excited about the venturesand the new relationships that
I've made.
I've already made some reallygood ones Derek Billingsley,
kevin Childs, ernie Incap,charles.
So, yeah, those are somehighlights.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
That same month I
moved my studio, lost my studio,
whatever.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I moved my house as
well, I tried to buy my home
Double whammy.
I was in my home for about fiveyears.
I was my house as well.
I tried to buy my home Doublewhammy.
I was in my home for about fiveyears.
I was renting.
The owner had passed away.
The house prices were rising.
I tried to buy the home.
I was not able to get the homebased off of what the mortgage
price would be, so I had to movetoo.
But this isn't a swan song.
(05:22):
If you hear us in differentmoods or if you, a lot has
transpired since the last timeyou guys have talked to us.
Um, overtone is a lot heavier.
The the world has changed oncemore over.
You know, in a month it'scompletely different than what
it was the last few months ago.
Whether you agree with me ornot, I really don't care.
I'm speaking my truth.
Um, but highlights, I'm stillalive, my family is doing good,
(05:47):
my kids are getting good grades.
My, all my kids are in school.
They're balling out.
Um, they're healthy, uh, yeah,uh, I get opportunities to go
work in shops.
You know I could suck and nothave opportunities, so those are
.
You know you want to do all ofthat, but yeah, yeah, that's a
(06:08):
lot.
That's a lot of changes.
Well, your turn.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
My turn.
Yeah, your turn.
I'm going to caveat off ofyours.
I'm going to jump on yoursBecause I had the opportunity to
help you.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
And that felt like
that completed our, that
completed our evolution asfriends.
Uh, me kind of like returningthe favor.
Uh, that's the way I felt.
You've given me your time andart and I just wanted to give
you something in return.
So I gave you work in return.
Yeah, of course, of course, Ipay you, but, uh, for your art
(06:48):
from time to time.
But, but, uh, I, I wanted toshow you what I could do, um,
work wise.
So that was nice, that was, that was, that was a good, good
full circle moment for us.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
But when I moved,
Zach was there the whole way
through.
It was me and him getting itdone In the trenches.
In the trenches he went overand beyond and it was hard for
me.
It was summertime.
It was hard for me too, becauseI'm not a person who really
likes to ask for a lot of help.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah, you know what I
mean Same here it was like
takes one to know one Right.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah Right, yeah
Right, and it was the end of the
season.
We had just finished theconvention.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
No, this was right
before the convention.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, yeah, so right,
as I'm moving that same month
I'm getting ready for theconvention, getting prints done,
doing all of this stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
For those of you that
came and saw us at the
convention.
Thank you for that For realThanks for visiting that Also,
the convention.
Thank you for that, for realThanks for visiting.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
That was super fun.
Incon was super dope.
You can call us Pat.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
We had a good time
yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I'm down to do it
again next year.
Met some really good people, yeah, but yeah.
So shut down the studio.
Yeah, shut down the house Did aconvention All of the same end
of the month.
Oh yeah, sold some prints, madesome shirts and we did our last
episode for V to Z.
So that month was a clusterfuckand was not fun.
(08:08):
No, it was not fun at all.
It was one of those momentswhere, like we dedicated
ourselves, like Zach paid forthat convention At the beginning
of the year.
He was like bro, like to helpyou stimulate your business this
year.
You know you, you asked how Icould help you.
This is how I could help, andso he chose to sponsor certain
(08:29):
parts of my business throughoutthe year and that was one of the
things he did.
Is he uh, paid for the booth atinkon and, uh, it worked out.
Man, like it was a great, Iloved it.
Yeah, season finale that wasn'ta finale.
We planned on filming there, but I'm glad we didn't at the
same time, just because it was alot Got good shots, though.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Got a lot of good
shots, yeah.
And then we kind of I won't getinto my stuff just yet, but we
kind of split off and did notseparate ways, but we just did
our thing after that we spokeupon a vow of silence.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
We spoke upon a
distance, uh, creating distance
between the two of us, notnecessarily because we were
going to kill each other, butjust to offer, uh, fresh
material for this season.
We didn't want to come back thesame individuals as we were
right, that's right, and zachwas like what the fuck are you
talking about?
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I, I took that real
harsh right in the beginning.
I'm like what, what are youlike?
What the fuck are?
You talking about uh it has tobe perfect, because, because my
mind, I'm like a vowel ofsilence.
What does that mean?
Right, I gotta make thisperfect.
Like are we?
Are we not speaking to anybody?
Are we doing it this way?
Are we doing it that way?
I feel like what we ended updoing worked.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
There's a method to the madness, and I truly mean it as madness
.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
So if you saw gaps in
our social media content, if
you saw gaps in just ourresponse rate to people not to
make excuses, but it was thoughtout, we did it on purpose.
It's choice and it wasn't to berude or anything either.
(10:16):
It was we had to reevaluateourselves as humans, as men.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
It's interesting
being on a platform and talking
to individuals.
We're not those individuals whotry and corner a room with
stories of oh look at me andlook how cool I am, and you
should learn this.
So for me, the vow of silencewas man, we've said a fucking
lot.
We should shut the fuck up fora little bit.
We should shut the fuck up fora little bit.
(10:46):
We should definitely shut thefuck up for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
And listen.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
And listen, yeah, and
listen, because you know, in
order to feel like you havesomething to say, you also have
to do twice as much listening.
You know, and there were thingsthat I was proud of in the
interviews on season one andthere was things that I didn't
necessarily care for.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
One was that you
motherfuckers think that I'm
some harsh ass fucking seriousguy man.
He's not.
Once you, once you get to knowhim, he's.
He's probably one of thefunnest individuals to be around
.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
I enjoy a good time,
I love to laugh.
Um, I dance, I I sing, mydaughter paints my nails.
You know what I mean.
Um, so you guys couldn't befurther from the truth on that
one.
Um, I am very compassionate.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Um uh, I, but that
just tells us more.
In season two we'll just bringit even more.
Bring it, bring it even morereal to you.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, I feel like
that's always been a big thing
for me too is like, because Ihave these big emotions,
everybody wants to fucking labelme as something yeah, yeah, oh
this.
He's so angry or he's so harshshut the fuck up.
Shut the fuck up and stop.
I'm not throwing labels at you, punk ass, like you have a
little moment, you know, offucking, whether it be positive
(12:11):
or negative, I'm not going tojudge you, I'm just going to be
like damn, you had a moment, youknow what I mean.
I'm not going to label you, butshut the fuck up.
You know, stop trying tofucking label me.
I'm nice as shit.
You are nice as shit.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I am, I'm nice as
shit.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
You know not.
Everybody's talking to theowner at Breakthrough.
He's just like oh, you'renegative, da-da-da-da, or some
shit like that.
I was like, well, I'm notalways going to fucking say shit
.
You want to hear?
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah, it's not all
sunshine and lollipops, brother,
that is not that type of it'snot that rainbow.
No, sorry about that.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
This is not that type
man.
So you know, it's just.
It's interesting, people's takeon you.
If you see me and you felt thatI'm negative, please just come
up to me and talk to me.
Man, book an appointment.
A lot of the reason that I'mable to keep my clientele the
way that it is is based off ofhow I approach them and with the
(13:05):
empathy that I show towardstheir individual scenarios.
I'm a listener man.
I'm a listener even though I'mon here talking.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I listen um getting a
tattoo, uh, from from this man,
because I got a lot of tattoos.
I got a lot.
We had a lot of time time in.
I've gone to other artists.
It's an experience gettingtattooed by Brandon.
That's just not sugarcoating itor anything, it's a full
(13:39):
experience.
The guy listens to you, he'sengaged as he's performing art.
So if you're looking for a newartist not to do a promotion but
also to slide in a promotion, get a tattoo from him and find
(14:00):
out for yourself exactly whathe's all about.
Stop by B-Man.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Studio yeah, or just
hang out.
Upload California 562-544-0132.
Deposit $150,.
Minimum $200.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Beautiful plug, don't
be cheap.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Treat yourself, Don't
cheat yourself.
I went back to work too.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Yeah, I was going to
school full time.
I went back to work and I'vebeen busier than the normal huh,
I feel like yours is wayheavier than mine.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Why is that?
Because you have a baby on theway.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yes, yeah, so I know
so.
So we crossed out what likethree or four baby showers in
between and, uh, those were allgood.
I appreciate everyone, everyonewho participated in those and
brought gifts and showed love.
I really do appreciate that.
Babies now due October 2nd.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
October 2nd.
What's today's date?
Speaker 1 (14:56):
It's 23rd of
September, so it's knock, knock,
knocking coming.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Another reason why
we've been kind of paying
attention to life rather thantalking.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Yeah, so work's been
fun.
Went back to work for SoCalWest Coast Electric.
I tested them.
They said they always wouldhave a job for me and I texted
my manager on a Friday and I hada job on Monday morning and I
don't know too many places thatyou could have a full had a job
on Monday morning.
I don't know too many placesthat you could have a full-time
(15:28):
job on Monday morning.
I did use that favor card andjust been working.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Are you happy with
this?
I'm happy right now.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
No one's told me to
stop doing what I do at yeah, no
one.
No one's told me that.
No one's told me to stop doingwhat I do yeah, at work, just
like no one's told us to stopdoing the podcast I don't know
what.
I don't know if that's a goodthing or a bad thing.
Right, but it's rolling well, you know I brought out a whole
different zach at work well youchanged?
Bro, yeah, I brought thisdude's changed.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
I've been on zach's
ass for like the last month Like
bro.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (16:10):
And so where Brandon
is, brandon is very he's
personable, he's a good personto talk to.
I am too, not at work.
At work I went back into almostmilitary type mode, punking
dudes Almost like a fuckingprison yard.
That's how I approached thatwork, which could have been the
(16:33):
right way, could have been thewrong way.
Anxious, angst, angst Got toshow the alpha dog a little bit
for the for, for any guys thatknow that women too, I mean
women too that go into a new joband and you have to show, I
guess, I guess, what you're allabout.
That's what I, that's what I,that's what I felt the need to
(16:56):
do, and I I did.
But I also hurt myself a coupletimes, hurt the back again,
found out I got carpal tunnel inmy arm.
Yeah, old man, shit.
What do you got to say aboutthat?
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I mean, fuck man, I
got arthritis in my wrist.
Yeah, that's it.
Yeah, we're getting older.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
We're getting older.
Come on, we're just, come on,we're just, we're like.
Oh, everyone listened, I meanwe're, we're getting older,
we're still like humans.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
We're priming, we're
keeping it primed, but like and
we're doing the damn thing we'repushing to find those
limitations, to say, oh man, Iain't what I used to be if
you're trying to put a label on.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
We got tattoo artists
and electrician here just
shooting the shit yeah yeah.
So what do you?
What do you come?
Come to us with what, what youhave, bring the bring.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
Bring something to
the table well, you're keeping
us blue collar, you're keepingit, you almost did.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
You almost went back
to blue collar I almost did, I
almost went back to uh operatingoperator.
Yeah, I went on, almost wentback to blue collar.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
I almost did.
I almost went back to operatingHeavy equipment operator.
Yeah, I almost went back tooperating, that was okay.
So this is the thing, this isthe thing Tattooing it's like ah
, till I die, till I die.
It's like a gang mentality,till I die.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
It's a passion, right
.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Yeah, and you want it
to be till you die 100% because
it is 100% fun.
But I have three kids.
That's a lot of kids to be atattoo artist.
Two, one, cool, you got anymore than three.
You're working all the damntime, man.
I just, I don't know, I forgotmy.
(18:35):
Where was I going with this, mytrain of thought?
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Just that you were
going to be a heavy equipment
operator.
Yeah, you were tossing aroundfor a minute.
That's a heavy thing right.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
So I'm stuck in
between this thing of Living my
passion and going back to a 9 to5.
And going back to a 9 to 5,yeah, and what is best for my
family, obviously the 9 to 5 is.
But how much of myself do Ilose?
And I've also been a tattooartist for so long that that's
what I am now.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
And you built such a
clientele.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I built a clientele.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
It's hard to leave
that behind.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Well, the money is
too.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
It's quick money.
It's quick money.
You can make more money in ashort amount of time.
But, yeah, I almost went backto another job.
I didn't, and I'm glad I did itbut him.
You tossing that around made mego back to the nine to five yeah
, I mean, I'm gonna do whateverI need to do to keep my family
(19:32):
in the standards that we need.
That's right.
Um, regardless of my love oftattooing, regardless of what
you know my physical like, Iwould go work a back-breaking
job right now.
Yeah, you know, for ifsomebody's like, oh, we'll take
care, come on, I know but yeah Idon't know that's.
(19:56):
That's a lot of tattooers rightnow, though.
It's slow, everybody's slow,everybody's got picking up
part-time jobs and all thatstuff.
I'm trying to not do all thatstuff.
I'm trying to pour my energyinto the work and utilize the
time to perfect my craft so that, when the light does come back
on within tattooing, or theupswing of tattooing comes back
up, I can tattoo in a differentform.
(20:19):
Your painting.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Your paintings are
beautiful.
They're really coming to thesurface.
I enjoy watching you work, man.
Thanks, man.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
The last Gems episode
where he said he finished
everything.
That's something I picked up.
Yeah, oh yeah.
So now, everything I do, Ifinish.
Same with the kevin or no, uh,derrick, yes, billingsley he's.
He says, yeah, everything Istart, I finish like, uh, all
right, so yeah, that's somethingI'm doing.
(20:56):
I paint a lot.
Now I'm trying to at least dotwo paintings a week, just for
progression, for failure, forall of the things to push the
ball to do.
I mean, fuck man, I spent somuch time worried about the
business aspects of things, Ididn't get to focus on the
artistry enough.
(21:17):
So now I don't have to focus onthe artistry enough.
So now I don't have to focus onthe business so much, I can
focus on the art.
It's nice.
It's nice.
There's so much stupid shit inbetween Permits and all the dumb
shit they make you do.
It just keeps you away fromtaxes and all that other stuff.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
You brought up a good
point leading up to this.
I was listening to some of theold episodes Definitely Jim's I
just listened to this weekend.
Were there any?
We sat down and I will shoutout our boy, tomas, our roadie,
we got him here working on thecamera.
(21:57):
Tomas right there, yeah, he'sbehind me Appreciate him, and we
did a big sit down roll outwhiteboard.
Get everything out.
Now that I got you on the mic,is there anyone you'd want to
bring on again from season oneto season two or any new people
(22:19):
that you'd like to who me yeah?
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Who do I want to
bring on?
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Or who do we talk
about?
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Who did we?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
discuss, but that's.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
but we, I mean we
talked about, I mean there's a
lot that I want to bring back on, just because we only touched a
tip of the iceberg, brianFoster being one of them.
Zach Peacock, I want to bringon Dave Richardson with Jim or
Die.
Just because they're differenttogether, there's a lot of
people I want to bring.
(22:48):
I want to bring on Spike onemore time.
Chime in.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
We're going to rattle
some names, but chime in.
If you want to shoot out to ourInstagram at BTOZ podcast, yeah
, shoot us DM or me or BrandonDM and be like hey, I think this
would be a good guest to haveon the show.
We're open.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
I may not this season
is going to be pretty heavy
y'all.
I think so, not even gonna lie.
No, the attitudes havedefinitely changed.
It's not that we're in a badmood.
Nobody's fucking around rightnow.
Um, so it should be interestinglast season, like it evolved
into its own little story and wewere very open because we were
(23:35):
so brand new to it.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Right Now, just like
Brandon said, I'm not in the
mood to fuck around.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Well, I let a few
people off the hook.
You did, I did, yeah, I did, partly because everybody was
talking about how cruel I am,partly because I was concerned
about how individuals would takemy opinion and run with it, but
that's not going to be the casethis year.
This this season, guys, I see alot of hypocritical things that
(24:05):
I will be calling out from someof the episodes that.
So if you were on the episodebefore and you said some shit
and you lived in a way that wascounterproductive to what the
fuck you said, I will be callingyou on that shit.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yeah, especially if
you're a returning guest.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Not to be an asshole,
no, but yeah, why not why?
not you said this shit, you didthis shit.
You owe some bullshit.
Explain.
You know there's a few there.
You know there's a few.
There's a few, there's a few.
Yeah, we got some.
We want to bring on someperformers.
We want to bring on a survivalexpert.
We want to.
We want to bring on some moreartists as well, which y'all
(24:51):
watch out too, because I'm goingto be asking some heavier
questions this year.
I'm gonna ask a lot about, uh,the, the shape of tattooing,
where it should go, not where itis where the fuck it should go.
What changes should you make inyour daily to help out the
tattoo industry?
Speaker 1 (25:10):
um, motorsports and
other professionals as well.
Uh, we, we have a few doctorslined up, a few therapists that
we've already asked and said, yeah, more than welcome.
So we're definitely going toexpand.
So we're growing as the show'sgrowing.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
I want to bring on a
musician.
Yeah, absolutely, man, I wantto bring on a musician?
Yeah, absolutely, man, I wantto bring on a musician Like
there's this one.
Imani that I talk to You'retalking to me about.
She's dope, she's dope.
I want to bring her on and haveher play some music.
She's like right on the vergeof being kind of a big fucking
deal.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
And video.
You guys like the video content, so we're going to pump up the
video content as well Internal,Internal and external.
Anybody willing to help, we'reopen to help.
But we're also going to bedoing it more internal as well.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yeah, we'll be
shooting them, We'll be
directing them and all thatstuff.
We will be using Zach Peacockand Brian Brixton on it.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
That is a no-brainer
If those guys are listening to
this episode, or listen to thisepisode that was.
I can't say enough of how Ienjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah, they showed up
really dope for us.
And it trips me out too, because sometimes I'll be like
man.
You know these motherfuckersdon't fuck with me and they do.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Yeah, they have to
fucking show up for me.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
I'm like dude.
Thanks, man like.
Thank you, that was that's tight, yeah, and then all the extra
effort and just you know, Ithink they enjoy the fact that
we're creating memories.
A lot of people that a lot offeedback I've been getting is
it's not that they truly enjoythe content.
They they enjoy that we'repromoting people from, uh, a
(27:03):
neutral standpoint, not somebodywho's already got, not somebody
who's uh on the cusp ofbecoming this amazing fucking
thing, like just solid assindividuals as they are.
You know what I mean.
Not based off of your positionin your job, not, you know, just
because you've obtained sometype of knowledge that was
really, really cool or you havea dope story.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
You, you, that
touched on something for me.
I got a gripe for you.
You want to hear gripe yep fromthe other side of the coin?
I've gotten people almostapproaching me looking to get
famous off their story, or I'mnot sure.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
The put-me-ons.
Yeah, the put-me-ons.
Ain't nobody putting you on.
Ha, Ain't nobody putting you onyeah and I'm not Period.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
I don't dig that
because I'm not looking to get
famous either.
I'm looking to try somethingI've never tried before.
That was the whole point ofthis podcast.
We're trying something we'venever tried before, but I'm not
going to use your story to makeus famous and I'm not going to
use your story to make youfamous.
I'm going to put that shit outthere right now.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Well, what kind of
motherfucker are you to be like?
Oh, you should interview me.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
You're so lame and
I've gotten a handful already.
Probably think this song isabout you, don't, you, don't?
Speaker 2 (28:20):
you?
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah, I've gotten, a
handful.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
He probably nicknamed
himself, you know, like get out
of here.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Yeah, so anyway, I'm
going to put that right there.
And you know who you are On anepisode I don't know who you are
, but you know who you are.
Yeah, you know who you are.
That struck a chord with me andI don't like that.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
I'm not going to.
Sorry, don't ride my coattails.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Well, and you're
trying to utilize what it is
that we're doing in a negativeway too.
Yeah, that's part of theproblem.
I don't do that.
We're trying to bring you guysstories that impact your lives,
not just something that soundsfucking cool.
You know what I mean.
Like there's tons of stories.
You want something cool put onthe Simpsons or not, but we also
got Koa here, man.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Yeah that's our other
roadie.
Yeah, big old Koa.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
Yeah, they've never
seen Koa.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, well, I mean
he's running around through the
cameras and I think we got someshots of him.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Explain Koa to him.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
I know Koa's a big
old.
He's my big service dog.
He's been angry with me latelybecause he came to work with me
a few times, but I've beenleaving him home because it's
been really hot outside and he'sbeen upset with that.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Koa's been full
circle too.
She used to be a wild thing andnow she's trying to calm down.
He's chilling yeah, every oncein a while.
He pops off yeah, every once ina while.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
But yeah, we're
trying to keep that down to the
minimum.
All right.
So, season two, new guests, newlocation, new people I mean not
new people, but, yeah, newguests.
But I feel like we're new again.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Yeah, part of me was
like, damn, is this gonna be as
good as next is for season one?
It's gonna be better.
Is this gonna be as good as?
I don't know?
If it's gonna be better, it isgoing to be completely freaking
different.
Yeah, it is going to becompletely different, not
because we're doing anythingdifferent.
We're going to be doing thislike kind of the same layouts
and programs and stuff like that.
But I don't know, guys, thisseason is going to be crazy.
(30:20):
We're just going to be askingmore, heavier questions.
We're going to be diggingdeeper, not taking things for
just face value and just kind ofnot to say that you guys
weren't being honest with us.
Some of you guys were.
Some of you guys weren't beinghonest with us.
Some of you guys were, some ofyou guys weren't.
So you know, but episode oneyeah, season two Season two B to
(30:42):
Z Knocking it off.
Boy or girl.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Boy, yeah Boy,
gabriel Michael.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
What's one of the
things that you're trying to
bring into your child's lifelike?
What's the overtone of yourfather style, fatherhood style?
Speaker 1 (31:03):
you know what I've
realized?
All the shit I give my dad andhe wasn't that bad, you know,
and I'll say that to you, with astraight face.
The more I look at that guy andwith a straight face, all right
the more the more I look atthat guy and all the years he's
driven me crazy.
He wasn't that bad at all.
He's a pretty damn good dad.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
So you model it based
off of pops.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Well, loosely, yeah,
yeah, don't yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Don't quote me yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
Don't quote me on it.
Yeah, don't quote me on it.
I'm not going to strictlyadhere to it, but he was a good
dad.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
What's the main thing
, what's your main thought going
into it?
What are you what?
Two, two to three weeks, Twothree weeks out, Two three weeks
out yeah, what's your mainthought right now?
Speaker 1 (31:49):
What he taught me.
He taught me a good work ethic, and that's the first thing I
want to bring into that baby'slife Is show that baby.
I'm there working hard for him.
You stressed, AbsolutelyStressed nervous, anxious.
Talking about it with youactually calms me down.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yeah, because you're
a three-timer, I am a
three-timer, he's a three-timer,I am a three-timer, he's a
three-timer.
It's nice to talk to somebodywho's been there, who has
excellent advice, whether it'sheavy or light.
Brandon doesn't sugarcoat shit.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
If he feels like he
needs to hit me with something
heavy, he hits me with somethingheavy.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
I even tell him.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I'm like.
I don't like that.
He's like I don't care.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Yeah, I'm going to
give it to you, whether you like
it or not, and I do appreciatethat.
I really appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Yeah, we pissing Zach
off All the time, all the time.
But I love it.
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Especially my
reflection time, when I sit back
and look at it.
I'm all man.
That guy really came at mesolid.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
I feel like sometimes
people don't give you the truth
because they're afraid of theresponse that they might get
from you.
You know what I mean, oh yeah.
I'm okay with the shittyresponse.
You know what I mean.
I'm okay.
Like he might fall off thehandle if I say that.
You know he might absolutelyjust flip out.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Yeah, if it matters,
handle if I say that he might
absolutely just flip out, yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
If it matters, then
I'll say it.
If it matters, then I'll say it.
If it don't matter, I'llWhatever.
You know what I mean, yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Take it as you give
it.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Fuck that advice,
though I don't know.
Being a parent is not easy, andit's very hard to get solid
information that's not you know, watered down by fucking googly
shit like fucking bitch shityeah, truth yeah without like,
(33:50):
yeah, yeah, like with the factof you do what you need to do
for self, to put yourself instrategic positions so that you
can always be the primaryexample of what a parent should
be, and outside of that, youknow you do what you need to do.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
But yeah, it's
interesting watching you go
through it, because I see youstress and then, but I can't.
I didn't see myself stress, Icouldn't have an outer body
experience to see how stressed Iwas and I'm just like damn,
like, how, how far?
What did I change when I firstfound out, uh, miles was gonna
(34:38):
be born?
Like how drastic were mychanges and did anyone during
that time?
Speaker 1 (34:42):
did anyone give you
advice?
Speaker 2 (34:45):
I'm sure you got a
lot of advice, but I didn't tell
anybody.
Oh okay, I didn't tell anybodyfor a long time you kind of
snuck snuck it in there.
I was on the.
I was in the virgin islands.
Yeah, just moved over to thevirgin islands with my brother.
We put all our stuff in acontainer to buy a vacation home
with the gi bill.
Yeah, mary calls me and saysshe's pregnant like week two
(35:08):
that I'm out there two weeks ago.
I'm just fucking silent, smoking, smoking, smoking,
smoking cigarettes, just smokingcigarettes.
I'm like, fuck, like, what am Igonna do?
Like I just dedicated and saidI'm gonna do this with my
brother.
Obviously I cannot stay here.
I put all my stuff in thecontainer to go out here.
(35:31):
Yeah, what are you gonna do?
Speaker 1 (35:34):
I had to leave my
brother.
Yeah, I had to leave my brother.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
I had to leave my
brother in the middle of a
business transaction and it wasmessed up.
It was messed up, you know, andI had to get back home to go to
doctor's visits and even when Igot back home she was like not
feeling me Because we weren'ttogether.
When Miles was born, I was likeI actually had a like a whole
(36:00):
ass girlfriend and stuff, youknow, but I was stressed.
But, seeing it at 41, I was 27when I 25, 27 when.
I had Miles, now you canactually reflect on it seeing it
at 41, being like damn Okay, because there's nothing I could
tell you about you going throughthe unknown, because your story
(36:21):
is your story.
Everything is different.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
Right your pregnancy,
the way the baby is going to be
delivered, how everythingunravels, is going to be
completely different, so I can'tgive advice.
I could just say, hey, hey, Iwould do this guidance yeah,
yeah, it's more guy, it's moreguidance.
I would say yeah, just saythings that I don't know.
People give shady advice justbased off the ego.
(36:45):
I give advice like a father, correct you do?
Like a like a upstandinggentleman, even if I'm not
always the best at taking my ownadvice.
I'm going to give it likefucking.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Oh solid.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah, yeah, like
superhero guy, you know what I
mean.
Like Mr Honorable man, that'show I try, like what would be
the best.
Sometimes I don't even like togive advice because it's like,
man, don't listen to me, don'tlisten to me't listen to me.
You know I'm a slippery slope.
I can give you something goodand the next second I can fuck
(37:22):
up your whole world but thatyeah, but that's I don't know.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
That goes along with
the evolution of our
relationship too, of ourfriendship what did you discover
in your vow of silence?
Speaker 2 (37:39):
he took the vow of
silence, I didn't.
He took the vow of silencewithout saying on your mark, get
set, go too.
He just fell off of the earthreal quick.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
I did, I do, I did it
a couple times.
I was like bro, I called him.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
I said I'm about to
pull up to the house Thinking
people have died.
You know What'd you discover?
Speaker 1 (38:09):
That everything isn't
as demanding as we make it seem
.
It really sifts the earth, Likewhen you're looking for gold,
and you sift all the dirt andall the water and all the
bullshit out.
It really brings what you'relooking for to the top and
that's what it?
did for me was okay.
The people that are in my lifeyou, joanna Jolene, you know my
(38:30):
sister they were the ones stilltexting me, still hitting me up,
different friends I have, andthen everything else kind of
falls by the wayside.
Sometimes you need to do thatonce in a while, just clear your
head.
I needed to do it.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
I called your sister
and that was on your advice?
Speaker 1 (38:49):
Yeah, you said, do it
.
But like you said not, yeah, you're supposed to let people
know.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Like, hey, I'm going
to step away for a little bit
You're supposed to definitelylet people know.
I called his sister like yo.
How come y'all?
Not watching your brotherwhat's going on?
She gave a little attitude backtoo, yeah she's sassy, a little
sassy joke, sassy joke yeah, man, but we just came back from
baby shower.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Baby shower was good.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that was fun, it was cool.
Yeah, it was cool.
Different things that youwouldn't see is you'd never
think oh yeah, he'll.
He'll be at my baby shower.
That'll be my buddy that I ohyeah, we'll be.
We'll be doing that togetherLike that shit's weird.
Right it is.
Yeah, yeah, that shit's weird.
I missed the first one and wentto the second one.
(39:36):
Yeah, what's protocol for that?
I don't know.
I've never done this.
This is my first time doing allthis stuff.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
You're going to have
another one immediately.
Yeah, are you going to haveanother baby?
Back to back?
Yeah, lakers, maybe.
I think I'm one and done.
Yeah, I think I'm one and done.
Yeah, I might be one and done.
We'll see.
We shall see.
It's close, everybody.
We might even squeeze in one ortwo more episodes in between
there, or even like we talkedabout I'm not even going to
(40:12):
tease people with that.
We were teasing something likereally close to the birth of the
child, like either before orright afterwards.
But we'll see how it all goesdown.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Oh, guess what, guys?

Uh, donate a little bit offeria yeah to the cause.
Um, we're just putting it rightback into this.
We're not, you know, out herebuying bentley's and stuff like

Speaker 1 (41:20):

Uh, yeah, it's just that justkeeps going back into the
subscriptions.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
You mean one million,

all that.
Speaker 1 (41:33):

last season, right?
Speaker 1 (42:17):

Speaker 2 (42:18):
I hope so yeah we
don't know until it's all done.
Yeah, we got Tomas on thecameras over here.
Hopefully he's doing his thing.
Speaker 1 (42:25):

Speaker 1 (42:30):
Roundup you got any
quote?
Speaker 2 (42:33):

Speaker 1 (42:40):
I got a bunch I'm
tossing around.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
No, I thought I saw
one, I think.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
I screenshotted one
the other day.
It was not for this specificinstance.
While he's checking it out.

good one.
What?
Speaker 1 (43:01):
do you got I do you
had a good one.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
In a town where what
did he say?
In a town full of blind men, that the guy with one eye sees
all.
Yeah, that's legit.
I was like oh, all right, Ithought that was cool.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Yeah, that is super
cool Perspective to you know,
shout out to E Cap, appreciateyou.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Yep, give us a quote.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Me.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Yeah, give us one.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
So I've been
rereading some books in the
little pieces of free time Ihave.
I love, I love all kinds ofbooks.
I love the classics.
I love Shakespeare, dante,algieri.
I love Sun Tzu.
(43:57):
One quote from his is strikewhere he's strong and you are
weak.
I feel that applies to both ofus, because when we hire
opponents we go after thestrength.
We try and hit them wherethey're strong and we're weak.
(44:22):
Hit them where they're strongand we're weak and it kind of
helps us analyze ourself and aidto our evolution.
You do a very good job of that.
I was reading it the other daythe Art of War and I was like
man that's.
I read that a long time ago andI was like man.
(44:42):
That's such a just astraightforward bitching quote.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Yeah, what am I
reading right now?
Speaker 1 (44:53):
I'm reading 48 Laws
of Power, or some shit, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, it's good, that is a good one.
Yeah, no, that is a very goodone.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
It's good as fuck.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Yeah, yep, so I mean,
there's your drop-off, there's
your roundup.
