Lera Doederlein was born with deformed legs in Russia before being adopted by the Doederlein family. After struggling with leg braces and arm crutches she had both legs amputated above the knee at the age of 14. For the first time ever, sport became part of her life and she is now, at the age of 16, on the US Women’s National Developmental Sled Hockey and is also on CAF’s Women’s Handcycle team.
