Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, welco on the backstage people. The reason I've come
here and I've set this up. Jack Johns says big
enough that he's just arrived. Cooper John's he went out
Thursday hasn't been cited since. So basically I'm having to
do this. Looks like I might have to do this
podcast by myself one day a week. I'll get off
one day a week. It's a Sunday. He can't be
(00:23):
bothered to turn up here on time. I've got to
do something this afternoon with Maddie Nabel and a good mate,
Phil Bailey. I've got to get there and just knock
this over right right now. It's midday. I'm out one o'clock,
so I've just had to set up. Hang on. There's
been rustling, Nutricia's singing upstairs. Oh here we go, Here
we go. I think glad you could join us. Yeah, now, Hostcar,
(00:49):
how are you mate? Good to see you for people,
it's an audio. Cooper has just dragged himself in. Yeah,
hostco Phil, there you got the microphone?
Speaker 2 (00:57):
You want to put the mic in?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
You're right? Hey? How's your shoulder? Hostcar? Just two nods,
two nods for good, two shakes for not that's good
one novel. I don't know what I'm doing. Can I
just say, straight off the top, Hoscar, what I'm about
to say doesn't include you, okay, because you're not part
of this film that you don't really do this. This
is purely for you, Couber, listen, and I'm not joking
(01:20):
about this. This podcast that we've done together, okay, is
a partnership between myself you. Now. The thing about is
Jack's turned up. At least he's close to on time.
I get one day off a week, brother, I get
one day, one day a week, one day a week.
So I would expect that you had the decency to
turn up here and be on time. Because mate, I'm
(01:40):
going to do so. I'm going to go do something
this afternoon with Names and Bales names. I'm going to
go and do something. I'm going to go to lunch
with them.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
In my defense, can I say something in my defense
before you start having to crack at me. It's too late,
bram Zach asking why I just think bad influence. I
didn't even want to have a beer over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Okay, let's we're going to talk about the games in
a second. Did you see any of the games.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
I didn't watch anything. I've seen the school though, I
saw terrific tookies.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
What did you buy the paper and had a look
at telegraph and look?
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Go jeez, now you get notifications on your phone? Oh
great when you win.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Have you had a look at the highlights or anything?
Speaker 2 (02:22):
I haven't had a look at highlights. You can tell me, though,
that won't make it more interesting.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Let's wind back. First of all, yeah, what did you now?
You left the house midday on the Thursday. This is
this is truly a dog's breakfast. What a talk costcar?
You de finish yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Only when spoken to his things.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
So you leave the house on the Thursday and you've
just walked through there. Talk us through what have you
been up to? Talk us through your Thursday? There was
something so big happened that you couldn't come home.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Uh No, we had a boat party on Thursday and
that was fun. That was good.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Where was it?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Where was that circular key dulling in like the harbor?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
There?
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Who was there? Who went?
Speaker 2 (03:01):
So?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
You and Jack?
Speaker 2 (03:03):
That was me and Jack? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:05):
So who was that for? Because I mean, look, that
was just how much do you get paid? Because you
don't do anything for nothing.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
No that I did that out of the conds. I
didn't get paid for that, right, So who was it for?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
My time? That was?
Speaker 2 (03:18):
It was just some like our friends. That was our
friends boat. And then Friday, what do we do? Friday?
We just went down to the Hubard Hilton, me and wineback. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So yeah, okay, so the Friday you didn't get back
in the Thursday night? What did you do on a Thursday night? Well?
Where were you on the Thursday night?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
I think I think probably the less detail we're go
into probably the better.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Okay, let's get let's move across. Then let's move across
to the Friday, because I said the Friday, what happened
the Friday?
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I just went to the Harbard Hilton with Calen Poller.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
He's down right, okay, So who were influenced? Who? Who
was about? You're blaming HSCO for last night? Who you're blaming?
What is it? Kal?
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I think that was Kaylen's fault as well. And then
after kaln doing down here the night, well this leads
into Saturday. The nights boys had like I suppose what
do we call it? Their mad Monday Hostco.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
You reckon.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Is that what we would refer to it as probably
an end of season trip, end of season trip down
to Sydney?
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Mate, what an end of season trip? How much fundraising
have to just jump on a bus and come down here? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I suppose that's not really an end of season trip?
Is it?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Friday? Let's talk through Friday against her? You and Kalyn
go to the Hardboard Hilton Hardboard Hotel, So that's a
be at lunchtime? Where did that? What happened there? That
span into the basically didn't you didn't get home that night?
Speaker 2 (04:40):
We ended up at a house party and then we
were we're about on the northern beaches somewhere.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
What was the reaction when kayl and Ponger suddenly walked
into that.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
They was probably more excited for me.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I think, yeah, I think that's the funniest thing you've
said for years.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
And then that that's billed into a big night. But
then we went to the races on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Pull back a little bit. Why didn't you come home
on the Friday night? Where were you?
Speaker 2 (05:03):
I ended up falling asleep on the couch at Kaylen's.
Caitlyn got a house down here he could probably could
buy yeah if you wanted to. Yeah, sorry, Zach, we
get all right.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Good to see your Hostcar. Listen. Congratulations on your season too, mate,
you made a real fist of it.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
So the old me and meal for us, was that
a background to compliment at Hosco?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Then now it was had a great season because.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
He missed most of the year because he only played
about nine games with the shoulder injury.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
So there are great nine games. Hostcar did well. Okay,
so Hostcar has gone so okay, okay. Taught me through
the Saturday because you boys went to the races because
Trish apparently got your suit and actually drove it to
Kaitlyn's girlfriend's place so you could get dressed and then
go because you didn't have the decency to come home
(05:56):
and touch base. How you had you get the races.
It's good.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I actually I didn't even have a bet. I didn't
even have a single bet. I went to the races
and I didn't back a single horse the whole day.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Right right as you go, Jack, finger up or finger down?
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah, I think he. I think he had a couple winners.
One of the boys picked like six in a row.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Wow, Yeah, who was that Marfa Jack they had the
nights were the Knights boys at the races. They have
a good day.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
They went there and no, no, we just caught up
with them after.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Yeah, they were doing their own thing.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
I don't yeah, but we just say last night finally,
oh you did come home? Yeah yeah, terrific. Right, let's
talk from football, all right, what do you want to know? Uh?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
What about first game?
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Sharks Cows Sharks Cows. I've made I'd Nico play. Hey,
I'll say this. People have this a little bit going
around with Nico. People say Nicko was quite quite and whatnot.
I actually thought, sometimes with coops in a game of football,
that's the things you don't do. And what happened. Trindle
had the hot handy, so you know, sometimes you just
(06:57):
go out there and things are working for you. And
he saw that Niko and he just took a little
half step back. And ye, Niko just floated around the
field pick and choose in these moments and people, I
don't know what people sometimes expect from Niko. You know,
the most important thing is winning that semi final game.
And you don't know if Nico went out there and
(07:18):
really tried to step on Tricky's toes result might have
been different. He just took a step back and good
on him. I thought that was I thought that was.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
How good and good because I heard Trindle was I've
seen Joey talking on the Sunday Show and he was
saying it was like a ten out of ten performance
by Trendle.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Best performance of his career, most important performance of his career.
He was terrific right from the get go. The one
at the first tried a little bit of ad lib.
He did grab it through, he was interfared, got a
penalty try, and I think his confidence just built from that.
He was Trendle was superb. But again I come back
to Nico. Nico was the perfect deputy because he didn't
(08:00):
get up there, you know, and fight for the ball
with Braiden. Everything Braiden did, Nico complimented. So for Nicker
it was terrific performance. Why did Sharks win? They returned
to simplicity, They support, They returned to how they should
play North South, power, direct running, get forward, hit the
(08:23):
line hard, play the ball quick and just build off
the momentum. They scored some terrific tries and did some
terrific things. Coop but it all just stemmed off that simple,
very simple football that suits their game. Go forward, hit
the line, play it quick, get Brayley out of the
dummy half and everything starts stemming off that.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Would you say the Cows were bad or were the
Sharks just good?
Speaker 1 (08:45):
I'll come to the cows. There's one thing. I just
want to give special mention to the Sharks outside backs,
which are vital to the Sharks to take the stress
off the forwards. In fact, they're outside backs. Their back
five they lead yardage where this Coups Molatalo was played
one of his best. He was sensational. Combined the back
five they ran for They'll all put it this way.
(09:08):
They had over one hundred runs, well over one hundred
run over one hundred runs, and that just shows you
the nature of the game is that playing simple, had
their big guy, had their outside backs get into the
middle of the field, and they just toiled away, toil away,
worked away. They were terrific. But to that point before.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Cows hate With the cows, did they do a lot
wrong or with the Sharks it's really.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Good side cows come out. I'm trying to think when
the first tribe was good, maybe around fifteen to twenty
minute But Cowboys were good early. Then the back half
of the first half they dropped away. Sharks got momentum.
Sharks lead twenty four nil at half time. Played nervous
in the second half. The sharkis for the first twenty
(09:54):
minutes of the second half. They they went into their shell.
They're trying to protect the league because if you think
about this season, it's been a couple of times this season,
both times against the Warriors and one or two other
occasions that were head by a fair way and got
run down, so that they played nervously, and the Cowboys
defense in the second half was superb. The way they
defended their own try line was We'll put it this way.
(10:16):
If the Cowboys had defended that way this year as
a general rule, non exception, then we're going to they
would have been still live in this competition. They'd have
been at least Final four. But yeah, best on ground yep,
Bradon Trindle except before Mulla tala I put him second.
(10:37):
I just thought he was sensational, got his best football
and the third player talk about tab Rudolph deserves a
bit of a rap. I thought he was really good
in yardage. Some did some great runs been in that line.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
It's a good player, Rudolph.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
He is a good player.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
He is.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
He is quirky, do great, very very quirky. Do you
know him?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yep?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Had night out? Was he on the night out? He
soon like you had the last three days you basically
had to be with everyone well playing.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
No, No, he's a good man, Toby. He's loose, loves
a beer. I like I remember that. I don't know
if you remember the interview we did where he was
talking about going and having I think you said he
was going to go in the Nordis and have like
a thousand beers or something, you know, getting fined for it.
Yeah by then I think. But I love that. It's
just he's just he's a real old school kind of
play like he would have fit in very well in
your generation.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Yeah. I love the fort When he came out that time,
he said, yeah, Kis Blakes before he goes mate, you know,
he goes on one on the one stop shot.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
That was.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
He's as a great character special mention too. For the Cowboys,
Val Holmes was sensational his final game as a Cowboy. Yeah, yeah,
he played really well and I thought ruben Kotter did
some did some good. They were good in the second half.
It was twenty four dollars half time. Final score was
twenty six eighteen, so they won that second half eighteen two. Yeah,
(11:54):
that's an hure of the Cowboys coop. You know, they
instead of being constant through the game, consistent through the game,
they playing bursts.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
I really had them as dark horses to win the camp.
I think if they'd, like you said, the second half
was really good, but if they put that sort of
performance together for an eighty minutes, which is probably the
one knock on the Cows the last couple of years,
where they play really good in patches, but they're just
not probably consistent enough.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Yeah it was yeah, or they're not consistent enough. That's
been the tail of the tape the last two years
and their poor game two years ago. They had that
sensational year where they were just a fraction away from
making the Grand Final, and the last year they really
dropped off. We've spoken about this before. It's a little
bit like the Broncos effect. Is that a young term.
(12:38):
You know, lots of raps, lots of vgulation, contract extensions, upgrades,
and I can throw you off balance. I thought they
did last year. But I thought they'd get their heads
back on and then they would have serious tilt at
this premiership. And they've looked good in patches one stage
that they went about five in a row. But to me,
they've never looked like a contender. They just haven't been
(13:00):
consistent a little bit. Like I said last week about
the sharkis boys sometimes just do less. I would say
that about the Cowboys? Is that I would? I would
say them at times they listen boys. When we got
the upper hand, that's fine, let's go, let's go. Guns
are blazing. But sometimes when the games and wrestle or
we're under the pump a little bit slow the tempo
(13:22):
of the game, kick the ball and touch, just take
the heat out of the game.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Is there anything else in that game? Let's probably wraps
it up a little bit that one. Yeah, okay, what
about the Manly Roosters game?
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Forty five thousand people full house? What's it sold out?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Friday night? Was the Canola game sold out as well?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
No, it wasn't that. That was a shame. Next door
they had the Swans and so I was happening. But
I mean, what you had there. You know what you
had with in that game, You had at a out
a town team like the Cowboys, and not a lot
of fans come down. A couple of reasons for that,
the main reason being that the airlines just shot the
(14:02):
prices up, fixed the where as they do when the
Cowboys come down here to play, or it's a big
occasion if we're going you know, if Sydney Heights or
Melbourneites or people from Brisbane are going up to towns
will for a game or vice versa. The airlines, oh God,
bless them, just put the air like how they just
they just do that. They just do this because they
know it's going to be in demand demand.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
If I'm going down to Melbourne this week, I'll be
around there. Look, not going to the AFL Grand Final,
I'll be around there for it. But the flights were
so expensive, like they obviously just they just set it
whether they want, they jack them up. I've never understood,
Matthew that why don't the airline, you know, if you
book a flight like the day before, why don't the
airlines make the prices low like for the day before,
(14:45):
just trying to fill the plane.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Because in occasions like this like Melbourne Cup Day, Grand Finals,
semi finals. They know it's never going to it's not
going to be a problem selling tickets. So the moment
that the Cowboys one last week and we're going to
come down here straight away, automatically they just go bang
and push it up. Same with when the Swans. When
the Swans went through and qualified for the Grand Final,
(15:08):
the airlines just go whack, knock it up. That's cool.
So it was disappointing given the fact that a lot
of the Cowboys fans didn't come down to understand why.
And on top of that was the main rail line
taking Sharky's fans to the stadium. There was repairs being
done and the train train a couple of the main
(15:32):
trains and people waiting for were canceled really and so
we didn't that didn't have a big crowd, which was
a shame because the AFL next door they yea, but
our ratings, I mean it was in the paper today.
Their ratings compared are ours and minuscule.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Oh around that game.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yeah, even that was a semi final. I think this
year the average I'm getting this off, I'm getting this off, yeah,
right is I think on TV averages the Swans. It's
twenty three thousand people as far as as far as
Sydney's concerned. Oh wow, yeah, just show you made out
(16:06):
at the game. We're booming, they've had a good year.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Well done, and you're going down there.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Are you going to go the game?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I haven't got a ticket or anything. I probably won't,
I don't think, because I'm going to go down there
and watch the Storm play because it's Harry grand our
close friends. One hundred game in a preliminary final. Really, yes,
they get up.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
For those occasions. About that in a second. Yeah, forty
five thousand people. Roosters mainly fantastic atmosphere. Coops, you haven't
seen the game. I'll feel you on one thing. As
we know, good starts are imperative in these big games.
Sharks last week, you know the eer off the kickoff,
and that threw them off balance, Manly Coop in the
first twenty seconds. Both Cola and Jake knocked out in
(16:50):
the first twenty seconds. Coler couldn't return. It was a
bad knockout. Jake did, but that it's weird.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
You never see Jake get knocked out. I don't.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
I can't remember him. Who's a low tackler too that
hits under the ribs. Yeah, I've never seen him giging
cast Yeah he returned to the field. But it did.
It did have to have an effect. People say no,
but they just got on with the game. But it
did have an effect. When you see your skipper going off.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yeah, I don't even think they would have been unless
Jake it didn't come back on, they wouldn't have been.
They would have been able to activate their eighteenth man.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Is Jake skipper or DC ex skipper DC is Yeah right, yeah, okay,
isn't unusual you can be the you're the state captain,
but not the club captain.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Well, this was the first time I think there was
Adrian Limb and Freddy in the early two thousands. That
was the only time that like they'd been a captain
at the same club instead of Origin. So obviously Lammy
and Freddy they were Queensland so well was and then
Chez and Gerbo did it this year.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Thanks mid Well. Hang on a second, Joey, Joey and
Bedzi remember that try he sets up in his big
comeback and return. He goes the new They the New
South Wile's captain to the Newcastle captain when Beds but
Bedsy was the state captain, Joey was the Newcastle captain.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
That's weird.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Yeah, and then they got to because Joey made the
comeback Bedsy had started the series.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Yeah, well that's bizarre.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Big one for the for the Roosters. Remember last week
against they just weren't up for the start of the
game and they defended really passively. Made they were ride
up the sky up emotionally. J wh like the difference
he makes in that football side is massive. Talking to
Shawn Johnson, who was on the show last night as
(18:35):
we're recording this, he was saying in the test matches
he would look at j w H before the game.
He said, he's the real pulse of the site and
you get confidence for him and you can see that
he led him. I mean last night could have been
possibly his last game as a Rooster. Joseph Sali, he
could have been his last. Luke Keary and Joey Marney,
all those blakes were good.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Who was the best.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Coops? Tedsco And this is hot take or hyperbole, whatever
you want to say, but it's the truth. I thought
It was one of his greatest performances as a rooster.
He's two hundred and fiftieth game. Oh, coops, he was.
He was amazing. The first it was the first tray.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Was it the first try?
Speaker 1 (19:19):
First try he laid on for Victor, and I think
it was probably symbolic of what he did for the
whole game. They're on the attack and Tedesco just went
Wush's first receiver sat the aid of Founder on his
heels like bush, and he just jumped to the boot
of Fander, pulled him Victor under the post. That was
That was Tedesco all night. Coops. He just I'd love
(19:41):
to know his run moters. I don't know, but he
he just terrorized manly. He was terrific and made hats
off to Victor because remember we had we had Brandon
here having a meal the other night and I asked him,
do you think Victor will played? And he went, yeah,
he was, I don't know, mate. He said it's a
really bad one and he said he's struggling a and
will he got through Victor?
Speaker 2 (20:01):
He was?
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Was he fine? He well, he scored a good try.
He was he was good. Sandon Smith was really good. Coops.
Sandon Smith. We said last week against Penrith that he
would have got that was vital experience, would have taken
a lot out of that game, you know, playing Penrith.
In Penrith first finals game, Nathan clear returning hostile crowd
and made it clear clearly was because Sandon was terrific.
(20:24):
He'scored a great try.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yeah, I actually I did see the video of that.
Did any of the boys mainly play well?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Yeah, like I had. Their moments were men's fun It
was funny. I would not come out and say that
Manly were just poor, you know, yeah they're really down
or anything like that, because even though that they got
beat by significant score, but yeah, they just it was
more to the point that Roosters were just so good. Jamal,
(20:54):
You've got to have a look at mate. He'd put
a shot on Lindsay Collins. I've never seen Lindsay Collins
hed like that. Really, Oh man, he just really he'd
open up right. We spoke about the Cowboys coops for
next year. This year, I was really confident they'd be
at least top four. They made second week of the finals,
but I think all in all, given the talents on
(21:16):
the side it was disappointing. Wouldere would they look at
their season, They'd have to be a little disappointed. Mainly,
as far as next year is concerned, Coops, I if
I was subs with that side, if that side for
them to make the next step is that I would
be doing ninety percent of my focus in the off
season on defense, because that team is a brilliant instinct
(21:40):
They've got some brilliant instinctive players, and so they jump
in and out of structure quite a bit. You just
need a very basic structure they can fall back on
or begin the game with, and then you sprinkle that
with tom Tom's instincts, DC's instincts and so on, and
Brooks's improvement, and you know they're going to be up there.
But the thing is, when you're an instinctive football side
(22:01):
and you've got instinctive individuals, that is going to bring
errors into your game and mainly have not been able
to consistently absorb those errors. So if that can work
really hard, have a big off season focusing on their defense,
and next year they can go to the next level.
I thought, as far as this year is concerned, I thought,
I'm really happy for Luke Brooks. I thought Brooks's best
(22:26):
game that I can think of as a professional, and
he fitted in that side really well.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Well, I would think that mainly needs. I mean, Chess
has probably got in his career two maybe two more years,
you'd think, because he's playing outstanding it.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
He just never gets injured.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
But I think they're going to I mean, I don't
know what they plan is afterwards, but I would think
that he's going to be so hard to replace for
that's because they don't really have somebody there just like
who's sort of waiting in the wing. You know, a
lot of clubs would have someone.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
There who like, who's the half pack replace? I mean,
you might be able to move if he was Like
I've seen the off season he comes out and says,
you know, I've realized that i want to spend more
time with the family. I'm done. You move Brooks into seven,
and you bring a six in. Now there's a general
real keep generally if sides are looking for a halfback man,
not a lot round. There's not one of the greats
(23:19):
retired last year, you.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Know, yeah, maybe Trindle. Actually I've seen Andrew John's another
quote he had he come out.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
And said, just so, it's funny, isn't it. You turn
up late to this engagement for our work, yet you
spend your all your Sunday morning. Just listen to your uncle.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Now it come up on a clip on social media.
He was talking about it. He said, right now, Trindle
could get eight to nine hundred thousand dollars a season.
I thought it was a big call.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
It's a big corps supply and demand, that's what he said.
He said, there's just no one out there exactly. Yeah,
I would have loved that. Best player Tedesco first, ted
Esco second, Tedesco third. He was that good look Sandon
Smith was terrific too, And I thought, I thought marn Who,
(24:08):
marn Who was wandering infield and he and Teddy were
working in combination, which we've called for in the last month,
and they did. They combined a few times, caused mainly
a lot of problems. Marn Who back through that Middles
a big weapon. So next week, Coops, we've got the
Sharks and Penrith at a course stadium, going to be
shark mate Penrith coming off a week off. Yeah, go
(24:30):
be man, so hard to beat.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Do you give sharks a chance.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Well, they're a fighter's chance. They're in the final four.
They've worked hard to get there and coops, they're broken
FITSI and a lot of those players have broken their
finals duck. So there's a bit of that pressure taking
off their shoulder, shoulders and the other thing. Coops. The
Sharks have done very well this year against size not
they're not expected to beat and they've done so they
(24:55):
will go there with no pressure on their shoulders. But
it would be terrific. That's through the middle. But for
them to beat for them to beat Penrith, they've got
to win the yardage game. That's very hard to do.
And they again Militala Katoa, Jesse Raymond and so on.
An era Mate, cayl Ira is he has been fantastic.
(25:15):
He was he was good again. He was good again
the other night and the week before in their loss
he was the best player. Those players have got to
be able to excel against Penrith to give themselves a chance.
And Roosters versus Storm in Melbourne, Melbourne and Melbourne coming
off a week tough to beat. But mate, the Roosters
are going to be buoyed by that performance.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Yeah, and they have I mean, there's a there's a
big history in the finals between those two. They always
have a good matchup, good games. But I don't know,
I can't I can't see I can't see it not
being a storm Penrith Grand Final.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Like it's just look, we're going to preview that later
on the week, but listen Coop to finish with, We've
had a lot of people reach out to me and
say they want more Cooper John's as Anthony Seabolt. Because
you blokes weren't here, I couldn't say up the room
for a press conference, so you're just going to sit there.
I'll be buzz you be Sebs.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
You know it's funny. Steves' sister messaged me and was like,
your Sebs impression is I've never seen anything like it.
It is so accurate. I just sent it to him.
So Steves has obviously heard it now as he reached
out to you. Not yet, but now I know he's
listened to it.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Well, it's Mad Monday. Was never knocked out there. It's
a Sunday, but it's the Mad Monday. He might be
asleep at McDonald's as we speak. Mate, run mate, Sebs.
Your thought on the performance tonight.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Yeah well, yeah right.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Thanks, Buzz.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
I appreciate you asking me that. Look, I think losing
Jake curly was pretty disappointing.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Yeah right.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
I think that was pretty hard for us to bounce
back from that. Losing Tollo out there in the Senate
as well.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
He was somebody that, you know, we really built our
performance on last week.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
So yeah right, he obviously well he won us the
game the week before with a really good try and
that's what that's what you get.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
And we're going to be fair in giving this competition.
I think that's yeah, to have their best players on
the park.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
Yeah right, listen, you we know how emotional Jake is
after a loss, and how our How was Jake's good.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Question, Buzz, thanks for asking it as well, Yeah right,
he was really emotional, as I'm sure we can imagine.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yeah right, yeah he was. He was really emotional. And
the whole Jovovich family are yeah, yeah right, good good family.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
They are really good for saying that as well, Really good.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Family, sebs, Thanks mate, and good luck for next year.
Thanks yeah, make happy meal.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Can you get sick of hearing that McDonald's jokes? Seeves?
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Who gets sick at McDonald.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
No, who hasn't fallen asleep?
Speaker 1 (27:42):
A makers, no, exactly, good on your curbs, Go and
get some sleep, brother you Jack, that's tough a couple
of peanuts
