fifteen minutes four full time. That's why sometimes they threw
up surprises. In twenty eight question twenty eight. In twenty ten,
the Dragons beat the Roosters thirty two eight. What was
the score at half time? Well, the Roosters, people, The

(28:07):
Roosters led eight to six at halftime. Now the story

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Jack, Yeah, I think it's pretty good squad read ready
to you know. I think Mage gives him a good chance.
But I even think even if Kevy was to stay,
I think there's nowhere to go really but up for
them next year.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
I reckon they win a couple within three years. There
you go I've said it. And who was the losing
coach that night in twenty fourteen when sous won Well,
they beat the Dogs and the losing coach was Desi Hasler.

let Trish on the room A Question thirty eight Who
lost to Melbourne in the twenty seventeen Grand Final? Who
lost to the Melbourne Storm in the twenty seventeen Grand Final?

Speaker 3 (35:27):
You know that one, Jae, Yeah, I think I know
a hint. I would say a hint would be that
a player may have broken his leg for the opposition
side in the first few minutes.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Yeah, he did, he did, he did. Question number thirty nine.
It was a tough blow. Question number thirty nine in
that Grand Final? Was the margin higher or lower than
eighteen points in Melbourne? In Melbourne Storms victory in twenty seventeen,
was the margin higher or lower than eighteen points? Question

(36:08):
number forty What year was the first Grand Final played
at the Sydney Football Stadium? What year was the first
Grand Final played? That's the Sydney Football Stadium, now of
course known as Alliance Stadium. It was the old City
Football Stadium in eighty eight. My got it. It was

(36:30):
state of the art of this back then, but this
one now is something special. Question. Well, that's the end
of that block, isn't it. How's this gett a little
carried away there? Okay, let's go back people, let's give you,
give you the answers. Question number thirty six. The name

(36:50):
one of the manlyes Triscorers in the twenty eleven Grand Final.
I'd accepted Brett Stewart, Glenn Stewart, Jamie Lyon or dcuible
year that year for DC hiss rookie year wins. The
Grand Final represents Australia picks up an award. I think
of the dally at the might have been half back
of the year, some sort of rookie year. Question thirty seven.

(37:13):
Who was warded the Clive Churchill Medal and that match
was Glenn Stewart gifty Glenn Stewart was awarded the Close
Churchill Medal? Doing really good with business, running a successful business,
Glenn Stewart.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
I'm about to do a bit of coaching a snake.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Actually, oh yeah, really, Me and Brett about to help
out the ESG ball at Manly.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
So yeah, that's cool, that is really good, excellent job.
Question thirty eight who lost to Melbourne in the twenty
seventeen Grand Final. He was the Cowboys man.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
North Queensland Cowboys. I think Sean Fenshm was that player
that broke his leg and the first it might have
been off the kickoff or something like that.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
I think he made might have made a little break
and there were all Storm made break. There was a
tang of legs. Was yeah, tough, that really really tough blow.
That was the year Thurston, remember Thurston miss Michael.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
Morgan's one of his run amazing Jared haym like run.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
Was question number thirty nine. Was the margin in that
match higher or lower than eighteen points? It was actually
higher twenty eight point margin thirty four to six to
Melbourne Storm. That was a great Melbourne Storm.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
So I remember where I was.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
I was at the old Old Bar tavern up towards
up north Way Plast, Newcastle Nai. We're watching it and
going into the game that twenty seventeen Melbourne Storm side
might probably be the most well balanced Rogy League site
I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
They were a great side. I mean look at the spine.
In the spine you had Cameron Smith, Cooper Kronk, Cameron Munster,
Billy Slater.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Even the forward packs for the time underrated. But you
had Harris in the back row with Kenny, you had
Jesse at the front.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
Very very very side and press it side. Okay, so
it was it was higher twenty eight points. Flip and
question number forty What year was the first Grand Final
played at the Sydney Football Stadium? Well it was in
nineteen eighty eight. Eighty eight was the first time that
the Grand Final was taken away from the SCG and

(39:20):
played at the Sydney Football Stadium. Okay, let's move into
the ninth block. All right, we're getting there. We're up
to question forty one people, and again it relates to
the nineteen eighty eight Grand Final, the first one played
at the Sydney Football Stadium. Which two teams competed? Which
two teams competed in the nineteen eighty eight Grand Final?

(39:46):
Pretty decent rivalry of these two sides, Jeeladdy. Question number
forty two, who was the winning coach in that nineteen
eighty eight Grand Final? Who was the winning coach in
that nineteen eighty eight Grand Final? Remember, people, there's nothing

(40:08):
wrong with just pressing pause if you and your friends
need a bit more thinking time. Question number forty three
again the nine and eighty eight Grand Final. In the
nineteen eighty eight Grand Final in the first half, which
Tigers star was knocked unconscious not to return? In the

(40:29):
eighty eight Grand Final, a Tiger's star was knocked unconscious
and did not return, And boy didn't it hurt the Tigers?
Question forty four? Who was the losing coach in the
nineteen ninety three Grand Final? Who was the losing coach

(40:53):
in the nineteen ninety three Grand Final? Question forty five.
At the end of this block, about to head into
the final block of questions, how many Grand Finals did
Ricky Stewart win as a player? Question forty five? How

(41:17):
many Grand Finals did Ricky Stewart win as a player? Okay,
once again, I don't sound like a broken record, but
you can't press pause. Question was question forty one. Let's

(41:38):
do the answers here. Who played in the eighty eight
Grand Final? It was Cantery Bulldogs versus the Balmain Tigers. Again,
I was a Balmaine Tigers fan and that one hurt
not as much as the following years.

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Terry Lamb in the harves Cobber Terry Lamb. Terry Lamb
was playing six, Jimmy Jimmick third, Jim jim and no, no,
Jimmy was in the side then I think Jimmy playing
South Juniors. Then Terry Lamb six, Michael Hagen seven, Turvy
Mortimer Stuve Mortimer broke his arm not long out in

(42:11):
the finals, so kennerby versus Balmain.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
Question forty two. Who was the winning coach that day? Well,
Cannoby won the game. The winning coach was Phil Gould
in his first year of coaching. I think it was
thirty one years of age. Phil Gould won that Grand Final.
Question forty three In that same game, the eighty eight
Grand Final in the first half which Tiger Star was

(42:34):
knocked unconscious not to return. It was one of my
favorite players of all time, the black Pearl ellery Hanley
a great man and not unconscious by Terry Lamb. Jack
oh was he Some would say it's a cheap shot.
I would say it's cheap shot bar.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
It was true that Barr used to prepare through the
week by having Vodkas.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Bar when he was young player. At wes Roy Masters
in nineteen seventy eight, they got a dietitian in come
talk to the players about the preparation leading into the game,
and she asked the question of Terry Lamb, what do
you do to the day before the game? Ter Bar was
about eight at the time. He said, I got the
chester Hill tavern and have about twenty vokrant oranges. And

(43:20):
she was horrified and Roy wat master and said, Bar,
don't change. It's working for you. Said the other thing
used to do. Jack, he used to go for a
thirty minute road run for the game. Really yep, just
said he used to get his head right.

Speaker 2 (43:32):
I think Billy Slater used to.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Have runs the day before the game. Actually used to
go for road runs.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Whatever your preparation is, whatever works for you, don't change
the prep okay. Question forty four. Who was the losing
coach of the nineteen ninety three Grand Final?

Speaker 2 (43:47):
Jack?

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Do you know this one?

Speaker 2 (43:49):
Well's not Brian Smith again?

Speaker 1 (43:50):
Is it? It's Brian Smith once again? Smithy, I apologize, mate,
it's a Grand Final quiz. I do. Look, you're an
excellent coach, just just didn't quite done a great finals.
Question forty five the end of the last one of
this block. How many Grand Finals did Ricky Stewart win

(44:12):
as a player? He won three with the canber Raiders.
He won in eighty nine, nineteen ninety and nineteen ninety four.
Of course, in eighty nine they beat the Tigers. In
nineteen and ninety they beat Penrith. In nineteen ninety one
they were beaten by Penrith. In nineteen ninety four they
beat the Bulldogs. So three for Ricky Stewart, righty, I

(44:33):
people right here, we've moved on to the final five questions,
and I hope you're doing good. I don't know what
years have got planned. People are a bit of a
drive up the coast or down the coast, or inland
heading around the Blue Mountains, or if you're up in Queensland,
shooting around Western Australia, everywhere in the North of England.
People who might see at the end of the year

(44:53):
A Trish and I are going to head back over there,
seem a great mate Brian Karney and knock around Manchester,
Liverpool and do all the things you do over there,
drink and dance, joking, Okay. Question number forty six final
block people. How many Grand Finals did Steve block a
roach play in? How many Grand Finals did Steve block

(45:18):
a roach play in?

Speaker 2 (45:21):
Yo?

Speaker 1 (45:22):
Even if you're on fire people. You're right at the
pointy end. Don't be afraid to press pause. Collect your thoughts.
Question forty seven which Sydney Club went back to back
in nineteen seventy two seventy three? Which Sydney Club went
back to back in nineteen seventy two and nineteen seventy

(45:43):
three again might be one. You have to call your
dad up or your grandpa? All are your grandma? Question
forty eight. Who notoriously wore white boots in the nineteen
seventy five Grand Final? Between Saint George Nie who wore

(46:05):
the white boots the seventy five Grand Final? It was
a promotion added ass paid him money? Who wore them?
Had the most horrific game of his career? Which was
really really? Was it tough?

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Was?

Speaker 3 (46:21):
The horrible game is used by a possible painkiller in
his foot cover?

Speaker 1 (46:25):
You got it, Jack, But what's really funny, Jack funny
is white boots or colored boots were never worn again.
For almost another thirty years. People used to think the
boots were cursed. There you are who won that nineteen
seventy five Grand Final? Who won the nineteen to seventy

(46:46):
five Grand Final? And finally, last question people who scored
the first try in the nineteen ninety seven AARL Grand Final.
Who scored the first try in the nineteen seventy seven
aar Rel Grand Final between Newcastle and Manly, who scored

(47:09):
the first try. Now we're going to go through the answers,
but as we get to the very end, I don't
want you to go away. I want to I'm going
to give you a final question, a question fifty one,
which relates nothing to this quiz as far as your
score is concerned, but I want to see who gets

(47:30):
it Jack. If people want to give us some feedback
or they want to submit the Big Challenge question question
fifty one, where do they get in touch?

Speaker 3 (47:42):
Probably DM the backstage with Cooper Omandy John's instagram. I
think the Coop Dog's operating it. So maybe we'll go
to even get them shown on the feed. If you
get it through and you get a win.

Speaker 1 (47:56):
Yeah, just you know, people tell us you score, tell
us me they think of the quiz, tell us ways
we can improve. But also this final question I'm going
to give you in a minute. If you can get
this one right, Okay, you've got seriously, you've got serious.
Brigian Rice but again the big challenge question with the
end of every quiz does not relate to your score here,

(48:16):
But let's do the final scores in the final block.
How many Grand Finals did Steve block her Roach play in?
He played him one? Now he played in the eighty
nine Grand finally got suspended for the nineteen eighty eight
Grand Final. They sent him over to Warrington. I think
he was given a three week suspension, so they flew
him over to Warrington to try to serve the suspension

(48:36):
over there, Jack, but they wouldn't allow it, so he
listened to the eighty eight Grand Final over the phone
in Warrington. Okay forty seven, which Sydney Club went back
to back in nineteen seventy two seventy three? It was
Manly first Grand Finals they won. They beat East and

(48:58):
they beat Crnulla and the great Bob Fullten was in
that side as well as my old coach Malcolm. Really
they'd never won a competition Jack Manly and they bought
Malcolm and they went back to back. There you go.
He was a real circuit breaker. Question forty eight. Who
notoriously wore the white boots in the seventy five Grand Final.

(49:18):
It was Graham Langland's chang of Anglands. Yeah, and he
went away. I think at the end of that game, Jack,
they had a kangaroo tool. He went away as captain
coach on the kangaroo tool and the last was seen
of the white boots as he threw them over a
crossbar at their training ground and just left him. Who
won that seventy five Grand Finally was the Roosters, Jack.

(49:41):
Roosters won thirty eight nil up until when Manly beat
the Storm forty nil. It was the biggest winning margin
by his side in a regular Grand Final. And finally,
people who scored the first try in the nineteen ninety
seven Grand Final between the Knights and Manly. It was
John Happowardi of Lehigh Hoppawardi fame. So there are Hopper.

(50:05):
I hope you enjoyed it. People Before you go, okay,
I'm going to hit you with this final question to
get involved. If you can get this one right, guys,
I'll tell you what you really are A regular savant here.
It is the big question. Question fifty one has got
nothing to do with the score, just bragging rights. Okay.

(50:30):
The North Sydney Bears, who are supposed to going to
come back into the competition as the Perth Bears. The
North Sydney Bears only won two comps in their existence
only had two Grand Finals victories in their history. They
went back to back in nineteen twenty one and nineteen
twenty two. In nineteen twenty one they beat the Roosters

(50:53):
to the North Sydney Bears. Who did they beat in
nineteen twenty two? Guys, go well, hope you enjoyed the quiz,
Give us some feedback until next time, Take it easy.
