February 19th, 1993 started as any typical day in St. Joseph Florida, a small community near Dade City Miami. Renee Odom dropped her 12 year old daughter Jennifer off at the bus stop and the two shared their usual bonding time in the car before Jennifer would catch the bus. They discussed Math amongst other things and then Jennifer jumped on the bus to head off to school. She sat in the back of the bus and waved to her mom as she drove away.
Around 3pm that afternoon the 7th grader stepped off the school bus at her usual stop that was just 200 yards from her home. This is the last time anyone would ever see Jennifer alive.
It would take 30 years for a suspect to be named in this case using familial DNA matching and information from another crime committed in the same area in 2012.
This case is currently still playing out in the courts.
