On June 2, 2007 around 7pm, 18 year old Kelsey Smith decided to head to Target in Overland Park, KS to purchase a present for her boyfriend. They were celebrating their 6-month anniversary and had planned to get together later that evening. Kelsey had just graduated HS and was excited about her future. She was beautiful, talented, loved marching band and was described as kind, loving, full of life and kind to everybody.
After completing her shopping , she headed outside to her vehicle with her bags. When Kelsey didn't return home and wasn't responding to texts or messages, her family became concerned. This story would end in tragedy but the work that Kelsey's family is doing to drive change is very much alive.
