I recently spoke with Matilda Marigolds, a gifted young musician who is a native of Brooklyn, NY. She is currently a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
We connected a few days after her performance at Bourbon and Beyond, a 4 day music festival in Louisville, KY. She had the opening slot for Saturday, day 3, which would later include St. Vincent, Greta Van Fleet, and Pearl Jam. I was fortunate enough to arrive early to see her performance. She is a natural performer backed up by a great band! (Some video has started to pop up on YouTube.)
She is fun, engaging, and a bit of an old soul. We discuss several topics including her experience at Bourbon and Beyond, the history of her musical journey (which began at a very young age), and her 6 song EP, Union. We also cover the Quick Scans of Your Radar and get her answers to several fun questions.
Song clips in the podcast:
"Leroy" from Union
"Old Sweet Way" from Union
"Memo" live from The New York Songwriters Circle, June 2022
