Bankole Thompson goes one-on-one in a candid, no-holds-barred interview with one of the nation’s most eminent public intellectuals and nationally renowned author, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. The two discuss the 2024 presidential election and the nation's direction in a second Donald Trump presidency beginning on Jan. 20, 2025.

 Dyson reflects on the recent election. During this time, the nation had the opportunity to elect Vice President Kamala Harris, the first Black woman to serve as the Democratic presidential nominee, but instead chose Trump despite his extreme policies.

 Dyson analyzes the demographic shift in the election, which revealed a majority of White women supported Trump over Harris despite the fight for reproductive rights being a central focus of the Democrats' presidential campaign. He intimates how this shift now stands to negatively affect the perceived alliance between White women and Black women.

 Dyson, the Centennial Chair in African American and Diaspora Studies at Vanderbilt University also waxes on the long-term implications of the Arab American vote in Dearborn, Michigan, which favored Trump due to the ongoing war in Gaza.

 Finally, Dyson outlines a roadmap for how Black America must prepare to address the myriad challenges the incoming Trump administration poses.
