This season on my podcast, Baring It All with Call Me Adam, I am spotlighting My Entertainment Idols.
Today I am catching up with Steve Burns, who you know as the original sleuth finding host of Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues.
I first interviewed Steve in 2017 when he released his album Foreverywhere (alongside Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips).
From 1996-2002, on camera, Steve Burns was entertaining millions of kids as the happy go-lucky host of Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues, but towards the end of his run, behind-the-scenes Steve was starting to hear multiple rumors of his death which was one of the events that led him to struggle with depression.
Now, Steve his bringing his story to the theatrical stage with his solo show debut in Steve Burns Alive.
In this NEW interview, Steve is Baring It All with Call Me Adam about:
In Steve Burns Alive, Steve dissects the bizarre phenomenon of being mourned while still breathing. This isn't just his story—it's an excavation of how parasocial relationships shape our reality, how digital mythology replaces truth, and what happens when millions of strangers grieve a version of you that never existed.
Steve Burns Alive cuts through the layers of myth and performance to expose the raw mechanics of human connection in the digital age. This is not a children's show. This isn't nostalgia. This is an unflinching forensic examination of what it means to exist in the space between who people think you are and who you actually are, and the stories we tell about the people who shaped our childhoods.
Steve Burns Alive will play for 3 performances ONLY, from July 23-25, 2025 at The Club at La Mama in NYC's East Village.

Steven Burns is best known as the original host of Blue’s Clues, where he spent seven surreal years solving mysteries with a cartoon dog and a talking mailbox. Then he disappeared. On purpose.
Since then, Steve has released indie rock albums, toured with The Flaming Lips, wrote the theme song for Young Sheldon, been a host and storyteller for The Moth and gone massively viral by quietly breaking the internet with a heartfelt message to a generation of now-grown-up viewers.
