Bay Rats & Buoys Episode 42 – Mid-Summer Moves, Tuna Talk & Studio Upgrades!
Episode 42 is here, and believe it or not—we’re just 10 weeks away from celebrating one full year of Bay Rats & Buoys! This week, we’re dodging passing storms and soaking up the cooler air after a seriously hot stretch here on Long Island. While the weather breaks, the action heats up behind the scenes.
Construction is officially underway at the Bay Rats & Buoys studio as we gear up for a big push into the second half of the season—including prepping for our return to the 2026 NY Boat Show! We’ve also got eyes on the Hamptons Shootout, happening August 10–15. For all the details, check out HamptonsShootout.com.
Captain Gaige and First Mate Kory are shifting gears for some offshore tuna action in the coming days, and we’ll be chasing that inshore bite with plugs and jigs as well. Meanwhile, the boat’s coming out for a mid-summer scrub-down—battle prep for the back half of the season.
August will bring a mix of podcast locations: from the oyster beds at Davy Jones Shellfish Co. to the scenic bar at Whalestales Hamptons with our buddy Sosh. No matter where we are, we’re bringing you the latest fishing updates, salty stories, and coastal happenings from across Long Island.
Big announcements are coming your way by Episode 52—so stay locked in, share the podcast with your crew, and tag your favorite fishing influencers. We’d love to collab!

Cardiac Cowboys
The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
