I am your host Emma, and today I will be interviewing Giancarlo Binetti.
Giancarlo Binetti is a french horn player and conductor based in the Greater Toronto Area. He started music in high school at Father Michael McGivney Catholic Academy in Markham, and went on to do a Bachelor of Classical Performance in french horn at York University, as well as a Masters' degree in musicology, focusing on the study of wind band conducting, the role of the artistic director, and concert band administration in Ontario.
He frequently plays and conducts in community bands like Rouge River Winds and the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, leads a brass quintet, participates in independent freelance projects, and subs for semi-professional orchestras all around the GTA. Giancarlo works closely with Colin Clarke as an assistant to his youth orchestras, leading occasional rehearsals and sectionals as needed. He also has private teaching experience, and his brass studio is open for all students.
