"Hi, guys. I just ran across this episode of Radiolab presents. Science versus it is super fun. They sort of take a scientific approach to what makes a joke funny, and then they are on the search for the funniest joke in the world. And it's pretty cool. So take a listen on where is It Apple Music. I'm sure you can find it on Spotify. I found it on the Radiolab podcast, so take a listen....

"After doing all those shows, doing all my jokes, all of them. I am in this place now where I'm like, cool, done. I'm done forever. And I know what that feeling is and I know I'm not done forever. And I know in a couple days I'll be back again, but sorry, my cat is scratching at my salad bag. Yeah, I'll be back. I will be back."

"Well, the other day I went to the local bar. Saw a sign on the door said no minors. I thought that was. That was pretty messed up. They're out there working hard, powering trains and shit, making the world go choo choo. Mother trucker. And they can't even have a beer after work. Ridiculous. I'm out."

"It's a response that so many people have brought to bear over the past, you know, hundred years of us kind of marking what culture does in times of stress and of debilitating depression. And we see people rising up with great acts of beauty. So I feel like comics really do that. We create moments that lift spirits. And when you lift a spirit and that spirit moves away from you and goes to t...

"He's not gonna be busting out jokes every 18 seconds. It's not how it works. Think about a true comedian is he's not a joke teller or she's not a joke teller. It's about telling stories, right? You think of the great comedians out there. You don't remember jokes per se, but you remember punchlines, you remember stories, you remember things that they said while they're telling a story. So t...

"And I'm doing it today because I want to ask so many questions to Julie golden and Dana Weddle, who are the geniuses behind the joke, which is a community they're building of comedians so that we can get to know them more and understand the craft and kind of get behind their strategies and into their souls, and I don't know, know who they are. I never have taken comedians for granted."

"That's something that I might have eaten. Wait, that's a little green. What's the pimple one? That's not a pimple. Deborah, you are ruining the donut. It's the pumpkin. But I'm gonna take a photo. We're gonna have several photos. Okay? Kombucha, squash, pumpkin spice, vanilla bean. Or if you're Deb, popped zit saffron, Snickadoodle. Snickadoodle. And then a Yuzu creamsicle, Yuzu strawberry....

"So I have absolutely never heard of this comedian or heard of any of his work until today. So, you know, the clips are abound. I've watched several clips and so I. My thoughts on what I saw were totally inappropriate, I believe. Wrong place, wrong time, for sure. I believe that. And I'm not going to say who's responsible. I mean, people are invited and they do what they do when they get t...

"I grew up watching comedy with my dad. I grew up going to comedy shows. Well, the ones that I was legally allowed to attend. But once I turned 18, 21, I was going to a lot of shows in Los Angeles. The Comedy Store, the Improv, the Laugh Factory. Whenever there was something that I wanted to go to, I would try to go out of my way and get there."

"I'm gay, so I hear it against gay people. And I have a lot of lived experiences to know how this feels, to hear it when you're the people that are at the butt of the joke. And I think the climate in our world right now is not, no, just leave it on stage as a joke. I think we're at a time where there's no distinction between entertainment and news anymore. It's one thing, and that's why the ...

"There's this thing in the comedy, that comedy sphere with Skank Fest and all of that. It's just not for me personally, that is not where I'm going with comedy. This, like, shock factor things that I've heard, these, like, grotesque things that are happening on stage at Skank Fest. It's just not my scene at all. And it's a real bummer to see those videos and to see him talking about, I mea...

"I have to admit, I kind of follow him and I was, you know, but just kind of enjoying and putting in air quotes the shtick that he and his cohorts have. I just thought, oh, it's meta. It's ironic. But I have to say, seeing him on stage at an actual Trump rally, like, shilling for him, was just so disappointing. And all of a sudden, these jokes didn't feel like jokes at all."

"I'm only curb stomping you because I love you, son. So. So now I think. I think it's good to get the hooked idea. Maybe I. I think it's also good. I don't think abuse is good, but, you know, a little corporal punishment. No, I. I think. I just don't think that there's enough tough love. And I'm not saying that tough love means you need to, like, berate or abuse your kids in any way."

"But I do know. I think women's body autonomy is priority. And if you can't get on board with that, you know, I think. I think they're going to offer vasectomies for free right now. You should go get one down. Yeah, I'd like to get a vasectomy, but what I'm worried about, actually, is if they clip my sack or they snip my testicles. We're adults here. We can say these words."

"We had a lot of buddies that came, too. We have this new bucket slot that we put up, so our comic friends will come and be there, and they get showcased, and they get guaranteed spots on our next shows. So there's just, like, so much magic happening in the room during the show, but then the camaraderie and the community that is building in sort of the before and in between and after times...

"As far as embellishing a joke, I think. I think it's kind of necessary. I think that, you know, not everything that happens to us in life, it comes out perfectly formed and perfectly funny. We. It's our job to make a joke, so we gotta punch it up, which means we have to, you know, give it a funny, lean opinion, perspective, whatever."

"Especially if I don't take breaks from the social aspect. I recently told a friend of mine, a couple friends, actually, we were having dinner after we had gone to try to get onto the potluck at the comedy store, and we were having hot dogs at Carney's, and I was saying how it felt like I needed to have these sort of crates of armor that it's like a box that I pull out before I have to sho...

"But I think there are so many shades of different, you know, it's not one or the other. I think there are motivations that come from so many different places within this, you know, nurture part of what makes us who we are as comedians. But I think the one universal truth is that the greatest feeling in the world is making people laugh. So that in and of itself is the drug folks."

"I think that's something that's, you know, I think the term genius, maybe, maybe they have more of them more frequently, but I think we all do have moments of genius. And comedically speaking, it can strike anywhere. Anybody. You know, I've seen, typically people I consider unfunny have moments of pure brilliance on stage. So it ebbs and flows. I think the, there's a healthy balance ...
