(00:00):
Hey friends, welcome back toBehind the Mike.
As we continue walkingthrough the most important week
in history.
We call it Passion Week.
Today's Thursday, the day of theLast Supper and Jesus
final teachings, his betrayaland agonizing prayer
in Gethsemane.

(00:20):
It's a day that shows usthe depth of Jesus love,
the pain of betrayal, and what surrender to God
really looks like.
If you've ever wrestledwith God's plan
or felt betrayed, today's episode is for you.
Thursday begins with Jesusgathering his disciples
in an upper roomfor the Passover meal.

(00:43):
But this isn'ta typical celebration.
During the meal, Jesus doessomething shocking.
He washes the disciples feet.
The job of a lowly servant, showing them what real
love and humility looks like.
You'll find that in John 13-5,he also predicts his betrayal,

(01:07):
and Judas leavesto set in motion that betrayal.
You find that

in John 13 (01:11):
21-30, he gives new meaning
to the bread and wine.
He says, this is my bodybroken for you.
This is my bloodof the covenant,
poured out for manyfor the forgiveness of sins.
You'll find that

in Matthew 26 (01:26):
26-28.
This is where we get communion.
A lasting reminderof his sacrifice.
After the meal, Jesus leads themto the Garden of Gethsemane,
where he goes to pray.
It's here that Jesus facesthe weight of what's coming.
The cross and bearingthe sin of the world.

Matthew 26 (01:49):
38-39 says, my soul is very sorrowful
even to death.
My father, if it's possible, let this cup pass from me.
Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.
Three times he prays, wrestling with the agony

(02:11):
of what he's about to endure.
And ultimately he surrendersto God's will.
Then, under the coverof darkness, Judas
arrives with soldiersand Jesus is arrested.
He's betrayed with the kiss.
Think about the layersof meaning in this day.
First, the Last Supper.
Jesus isn't sharing a meal.
He's offering himselfas the ultimate Passover lamb.

(02:34):
Second, washing the feet.
The King of the universe kneelsto serve a picture of what
real leadershipand love look like.
Then there'sconsummately the garden
where you see Jesus's humanityon full display.
Deeply sorrowful,yet fully obedient.

(02:57):
The betrayal.
Jesus chose love, knowingJudas would betray him.
Showing grace even to his enemy.
This day shows uswhat it means to love
sacrificially and surrendercompletely, even
when it's painful.
So let me ask you.
Have you ever facedsomething so hard
you wanted to say, God,take this away from me, but knew

(03:22):
you had to walk through it?
Well, Jesus gets thatin Gethsemane.
He shows us that realsurrender is costly,
but it's worth it.
Sometimes we want God's planwithout the pain.
But Jesus shows us thatin trusting God, it means that

(03:42):
we have to surrendereven when we don't understand.
And what about love?
Are we loving like Jesus, willing to serve even
when it's uncomfortable?
Are we remembering his sacrificeevery time we take communion?
Not as a ritual,but as a personal
reminder of his love for us?

(04:03):
Maybe the hardest of allforgiving betrayal.
Jesus loved Judaseven though he knew
Judas would betray him.
Man, can we love like that.
So today, here are two questionsI want to leave you with.

(04:23):
What part of your life is Godasking you to surrender?
To say not my will, but yours be done. Lord.
And to who is God asking youto love and serve
even if they've hurt you?
Jesus gave everything for us.
The call is clear.

(04:44):
Follow him.
Love him and surrender like him.
Thank you for walkingthrough this
powerful day of PassionWeek with me tomorrow.
Friday we faced the darkest dayin history the crucifixion
of Jesus.
But don't miss it.
Because even in that darkness, there's hope.
Until then, lean into his loveand surrender.

(05:08):
He's worth it.
If this speaks toyour heart, hit like, subscribe
and share it with someone whoneeds help today.
And if you're realizingyou've never surrendered
fully to Jesus, reach out.
I'd love to helpyou take that step.
Take care and God bless.
