Speaker 6 (00:59):

Hi? I'm okay.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Now, everyone's very excited to have your hare.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I'm excited to be here. I was like spannicking a little.
I was like, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Don't worry.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
You were early anyway, so oh cool, you had you
had cushion time, so if you were ready. We have
a lot of people infected, plenty of people already with
their hands up who want to come up and ask
you questions about what it's like playing Sylvia.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
I'm ready.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Let's do it, beautiful, all right, let's start with guad
ninety five.

Speaker 7 (01:38):
So not only thank you so much for this episode. Sorry,
my coworkers are looking at me like a.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
With me please. Okay. Not only was this episode like
super touching is being.

Speaker 7 (01:53):
A Latina and a gay person. It was really touching
with the part with and he pulled him aside and
was like, there's something wrong with this girl. And it
just reminded me so much of like my own Ulia,
because like she was very uh in tune with her
I don't know if you say spirituality, but she used
to like look at us and be like, there's a.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Demon in you and like rubb back on us.

Speaker 7 (02:16):
So I was wondering if you have any like stories
like that of like any of your willows or feels
or anything being like the my name is me me?

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Where are you coming from? Uh, Tennessee? But I'm working
at a subway and this is show it okay, Well
hello to everybody listening. I actually do you know it's
it's so funny you bring that up, because I love
how the show really brings up the Latino culture. And
I definitely one of the stories that I can remember.

(02:50):
It's just like when I was a little girl, like
my mom talked, took me to do a limpia. And
for those of you who don't know what that is,
it's like a cleanse, like what you would call a cleanse, right,
And they use like this little egg and they just like, yeah,
then I just says a little egg around you just
to kind of take out all the like whatever's going

(03:10):
on with you spiritually or whatever, you know. But I'm
like a kid, I'm like, I have no idea. My
whole thing was like can I eat the egg? What
is it? What is here?

Speaker 8 (03:20):
You know?

Speaker 4 (03:20):
But but yeah, so definitely that was like a big
memory for me and so and and yeah, she's she
was darling. I fell in love with her. She was
so wonderful in that art. But yeah, I agree with
you completely. It's always like our elders are awalitas and
ore that always have that that sixth sense, you know,

(03:42):
being being on this earth longer, you know, and like
really being able to sense out the well here.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
The vampidos never heard of that before. I'm going to
have to look into that.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
I literally just pit a holding out of my whole
house the other day.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
You have cleanses people do, like cleanses of their homes
and cleanses of people just kind of like that, but
they use a little egg and then they crack it
and they look at it like what's inside like and
then and then some will like read it and say, oh,
I see I see this or I see that. So
it's really it's really it's cool. But being like, you know,

(04:19):
a young kid, it was like what is going on?
So it leaves an imprint on you, for sure, I
can imagine.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Thank you for the good question, which.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
I love that question. Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
All right, let me go ahead and grab our next person.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Actually, before I grab our next person, I have to
ask this question because I was listening to the podcast
and it came up, you know this the notes handwritten
letters that you wrote, and I really I wanted to
dig a little bit deeper into that. For those that
don't know today, you know the podcast episod. So they

(05:00):
were talking about Harvey's podcast. They were talking about how
Murnatt wrote these in character letters as Germo's mother, and
I thought it was the sweetest thing. So I want
to know, I want to know more about that. What
was the impetus for that? It didn't really help you
get into character, you know.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Thank you for asking that, because yeah, that was such
a it was such a cool thing that he responded
so well to it. You know. It definitely was something
that really helped me because when you get cast in something,
a lot of times there's a very quick turnaround, so
you can, you know, get apart today and I'll tape

(05:41):
it and then I get a call and you've got it.
Now you're flying out somewhere. So and a lot of
times you may not be able to meet your co
stars are the people you're working with until you're actually
on set. So for me, I really wanted to bring
the authenticity. It was It's very important for me to
really bring the realism and all that background with you

(06:05):
because I think it just gives for such a richer character.
And so my thing in this particular, I was just
so esthetic getting this part. I was just beside myself
and I was like, how do I get in the
moment with him? How do I Once I get on set?
I feel like I already we have this life together.
I birth them. I you know, I know everything about him.

(06:28):
You know, I changed this banale. So so I decided,
you know, for myself, I was like, I'm going to
write him a letter because he's been gone for so long,
so I wanted to, like as a mom also to
just say, you know me, I'm I'm so astatic that
you're home, and just you know that you're here, and
you sometimes you keep put into words, you know, and

(06:50):
sometimes writing for me is easier to tell someone and
in that character like you don't understand how amazing it
is to have you home and what that feels like
as a mother. And so that was what started the letter.
And then once I, you know, I did it and
I met him, I just immediately felt a connection. Also,

(07:11):
he's just like one of the most warm and most
loving person I just I just immediately he just took
me in, you know. So I felt that warmth and everything,
and so I felt right at home. And afterwards, when
I actually received the call that I was coming back,
is when I decided, you know what, I'd like to

(07:32):
share this with him. I'd like him to know, you know,
the kind of backstory that I brought with me and everything,
and so I did, and it was it was beautiful
because he really was very receptive to it, and it
just it was such a such a bonding thing and
just so lovely His you know, his welcoming and everything.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
That's that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I think that show is a real dedication that you
really care about the show and the role.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Oh absolutely absolutely, it's such a well, the show is
so amazing and all. But you know, the cast is
already such hot, you know there's they're so brilliant and
they're so into their characters. It's like, I can't. I
have to come in here, you know, on my A game,
I have to. I can't be the weak link here.

(08:19):
I got to pull my weight.

Speaker 8 (08:20):
You know.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Well, you've been great in the show.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
So oh, thank you.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
No, no need to be worried. All right, let me
bring up our next question, ask or some kind of
human nerd.

Speaker 9 (08:32):
Ooh hello, hi hi.

Speaker 10 (08:36):
I also listened to the podcast and was really touched
to hear about the letter and the thought you put
into Sylvia's background, and I'm kind of curious to hear
more about I know, like they're not official Writer's Room canon,

(08:58):
but especially about the sort of ideas you have of
Sylvia's background in her life, and also Giermo's dad, who
is sort of notably absence and unmentioned and uh it's
not clear why that is, but that's something I'm very

(09:23):
interested to hear your thoughts about.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Oh, absolutely, tell me your name and where are you
calling from? Oh?

Speaker 10 (09:31):
My name is Well, I go by Spiff, and I
am calling from New York.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Actually, oh we're neighbors, Stiff.

Speaker 11 (09:42):
Well.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
I love your question because that allows me to expand
more on the whole process too, of coming you know
in as a character and just yeah, it's it's you
get a script, you know, and you read it. And
especially for this part I came in not there wasn't
much detail, like you don't get a lot of detail

(10:04):
of like the background as you know, so so we
bring it in right. So in my letter I also
mentioned his father and mentioned how because I did, I did,
I went and I watched you know, all the episodes
I'd already been watching it. I was like, I got
a Russian get through all of them and watch him
and really see him and understand him, and just how

(10:24):
he's such a caretaker and he's a caretaker for me
as well. So right now we actually, you know, talking
on pas podcasts with him, I was like, what is
where is your father? Where is he and what is
you know, what is the meaning behind it? His absence right,
because I know the writers are so thoughtful and everything
has a meaning. It's like every like when I watched

(10:45):
the show, it's like, oh my god, I got to
like back up and watch it and listen to that again.
Everything has such a clear meaning, you know behind it.
You don't want to miss anything that's written or said.
So I, you know, think about all that.

Speaker 6 (11:01):
You know.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
I was like, he's such a caretaker. He's a caretaker
to me, and his father's being absent is a really
good question. And I'm like, I'm like, for me, I
don't think that i've quite I could make up a
story now, but I haven't quite decided what's happening. And also,
if I bring in that Harvey had mentioned, you know,
you come in and you have a feeling of what

(11:21):
could be and then boom, there's a script and it's
something completely different. You know. But I have this feeling
just me personally that for some reason we're not together,
like there's a split or something that happened. I don't
feel like he's gone, like he's like he passed away.

(11:42):
I feel like he left, and I feel like there
might be some and that would be an interesting parallel
for Sylvia to have Harvey leave her as well, you
know that kind of Harvey left her husband left. We're
not really quite sure what happened between them, So it's
your guess is as good as mine. I guess. Did

(12:04):
I even answer your question?

Speaker 10 (12:07):
I'm just like, I think it was a really great answer.
I feel like you're you're right, Like I also wanted
to say something I really enjoyed about the episode was
all the female influences that are clearly important in Giermo's life.

(12:27):
One of my favorite things about him as a character
is that he has sort of what people think of
as femininity and feminine energy. He's a caretaker. He Harvey
specifically calls him maternal with Colin Robinson rather than paternal,
and that it seems like from the episode that his

(12:50):
female line is also where he gets his van helsing
Slayer Jeanes.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
From absolutely and I you know, I love that because normally,
you know, you would have thought, oh, it's going to
be from his dad, right, Like, I don't know why,
I just through normally that's like the paternal side, or
they'll go through the paternal paternal side. And I was
so happy that they made it the maternal side. Of him,

(13:17):
you know, so me too. To me, it was a wonderful,
beautiful twist, you know, and not like I said, that's
what I love. Anything that I could come up with,
I know that they're going to come up with so
much better because they think about it. I mean, it's
just so amazing the writing on the show.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Well, thank you for a great question, some kind of huge.

Speaker 10 (13:37):
Yeah, thank you, Thank you so much, miRNA, thank you awesome.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Okay, we're getting so many great questions already, we've formed
them to two.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
All right, talk a lot.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
You can tell me to be quiet.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
No, no, no, no, we love her. Are you kidding me?
Are you kidding me? We absolutely love it. I can
speak for everyone.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
I know they Yeah, I'm a I'm a gabber man.
Well we can talk forever.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Don't worry me too, all right, I have invited up
K and D. Me invite them up again. There we go,
all right, K and D.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
Hi, Candy, Hi.

Speaker 8 (14:18):
I'm calling from southern California.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Nice. Yeah, nice to talk to you.

Speaker 8 (14:22):
And I also felt like last episode was really touching,
and I guess I had a question about like the
Spanish dialogue in Yeah, like.

Speaker 12 (14:30):
Was it translated already?

Speaker 8 (14:32):
In the script or did we're like all the actors
that for Germo's Family, were you guys having to like
translate or come up with it yourselves?

Speaker 12 (14:39):
Like, how did that work?

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Actually, it was translated. It was translated when I received it. Yes,
so I was I was told, you know, when I
was given the audition, needed to be Spanish speaker. So
and that's like, that's right up my alley. Right, So
Spanish is my first in language. So my parents, if
you haven't you know heard the podcast, my parents are

(15:02):
immigrants from Mexico, and so we grew up with just
always and so so yeah, so that you know, I
had that in my in my bag of what I do,
and everything just came yeah, but I do. The episode
are really great because they let you, you know, you'll

(15:22):
do the takes as they are, and then they let
you kind of improvise and bring in your own and
so that helps you already know the Spanish parts. And
I'm glad you asked this too, because this episode I
started speaking a little English as well, just to kind
of like, you know, give that indication that I know,
like my mother she's she's she speaks Spanish, you know,

(15:45):
and her English has an accent in it. However, she
understands and can speak English perfectly, but she feels so
much more comfortable in Spanish. So it's like, I kind
of that's one of the things I kind of grab
for Sylvia as well, you know. But it's fun to
play with that, you know, going back and forth. And
it's interesting because I'm wondering, like even for you can

(16:07):
be like as an audience member, because some of the
things are not translated, what that's like for you. But
do you get the gist just from and all of
a sudden, he will, we'll, we'll, we'll say, what's going on?

Speaker 8 (16:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know some Spanish because yeah, I
took some in high school and a lot of my
not discord friends are Spanish speakers themselves, so they were
kind of like translating while we were watching, which was
really cool of them. So and they were saying they
really they really liked it, like they like, it's just
really representative, and yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
It is, and that makes me so happy. And a
lot of that's Harvey too. Harvey really really pushed for
it to be very authentic. He really really wanted that,
and so I'm grateful for that. Yeah, it was really cool.
Thank you. Forcing Oh, absolutely, thank you.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Awesome. That was another spectacular question, not going to be
out of the park so far.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
I was going to ask that question if someone else didn't.
I'm glad that that question got asked because I do not.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Speak Spanish, even though I probably shouldn't because I'm from Florida.
But I definitely think that the gist of what you
were trying to say and the emotions came through, and
so it worked for speakers and non speakers.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Yeah. Yeah, And I love hearing that because for me
it would be hard to turn that part of my
brain off, you know, and be like, okay, they were
speaking German. Would I get it?

Speaker 13 (17:30):
You know?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Well I got it, and I think other people did too.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
We have way off on me a life.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Before we get to the next question. Another another question
from me. So I assume this was, and you could
tell me if I'm wrong. Was it your first time
on the mansion? The house set was?

Speaker 10 (17:56):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (17:56):
What was that?

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Yes? Oh my god, it was incredible. I just I
walked in, you know, and I was just like, Wow,
this is where it all happens, this is where everything happens.
It was really cool to see this that it was
really really incredible, and just getting to run up and
down the stairs because we did we had to do
that a bunch of times, you know, and on a

(18:20):
lot of takes when we're when we're chasing Nada. But
it was a really great experience. It was like, it's
amazing to see it in real life and just to
see how all the details in it that you wouldn't
necessarily pick up unless the camera were to like come
in and zero in right, a lot of detail work.

(18:40):
And and also the house was in shambles, so I
didn't get to see it before, had all the tree
branches and everything, you know. But but it was it
was really cool.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Well, when we when we spoke to a new who
plays the King character, who I don't think you've interacted with,
but no, I think seeing he talked about the same thing,
and he spoke about some of his favorite things in
the set. And I'm curious if you could think.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Of one piece of furniture, one item, one part of
the setting.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Do you have a favorite part of the house set.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
Oh, that's a really great question. Oh my gosh, I
will tell you one thing I kept wanting to go
into the main room, the one with the couch, and
I kept looking at the couch and our scene was
not in there, and I just kept looking at it.
I was like, I want to go in there. I
want to go in there. And I didn't. I'm not
really I think we were like really tired after the end.

(19:36):
Because I was telling a friend, I was like, I
didn't have to work out after that episode because I
was we it was so like physical, a lot of
physical work that I just I didn't do it, but
I was drawn to it. Oh man, I feel bad.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Well, hopefully you'll have another chance bring me back. Yes,
well we'll start a petition to get you back on
that set.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Yeah, but there's a lot of like just even like
the wallpaper and just everything, and especially because they had
done you know, the deterioration, like just even the tree
branches on everything like growing, and just I love that staircase.
I really love it. And but it is a lot
taller than I thought, you know, from seeing it on TV.

(20:20):
So I'm a little scared of heights. So I was
and they were like and they were like, just don't
lean on the railing, you know, don't lean And I
was like, Okay, I'm just going to stand right here
and throw my you know, mistakes. But but yeah, so
that was like, it's just man, they should have like
a you know how they have pop ups, you know,

(20:41):
they need to have a pop up house for sure.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
For sure, I'm going to pickure that to FX. That
would that would be all the morning, I think, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
All right, So the next person we have is feed
your tom ten. I think hopefully I'm pronouncing that correctly,
tom ten, tom ten, something like that. They'll tell us
for themselves.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Yes, you tell us. And I realized I'm asking people's names.
I apologize that that's an invasive You don't have to
say your name if you don't want. Hello.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
I am Emily.

Speaker 14 (21:13):
I'm happy to say my name, and I'm in from
upstate New York in the Finger Lakes. Yeah, it's very nice,
I want to say. I so so enjoyed this episode.
This is one of the one of two so far.
It was the wedding in this one that my partner
and I rewatched immediately after we watched it on Hulu,

(21:36):
like we're just like started again. I want to see
all of that again, especially the family scenes were just phenomenal.
I wanted to share that I did my homework before
this and I saw your YouTube channel and you have
a phenomenal singing voice. Oh so all of you should
go and listen to Mernes music.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
Thank you.

Speaker 15 (21:59):
Of course.

Speaker 14 (22:00):
It is absolutely beautiful and the lyrics the original songs
are just lovely. So I guess I don't have a question.
I have a pitch because there are a ton of
you on this cast that are really excellent musicians. A
Noop is a wonderful musician. We know Harvey sings. Matt Berry,
of course is a musician. So I'm just gonna say
that we would all be very excited if you all

(22:22):
put together a cast EP.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
And put it up on band cap. I love that.

Speaker 14 (22:28):
I think you should do it. I think it would
be a big hit, and I expect there are like
hidden talents in that cast that we don't know about.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
So I agree with you completely awesome. And you want
to know something like funny about that is that my
husband and I we love the Your Dead song. Oh
my god, is that not the best song? Cover it? Well?
Cover it? Yeah, that's what we were talking about doing. Yeah,

(22:57):
Like I was like, okay, I'm singing a little bit
because I told my friends do a single at all. Okay, okay,
is that alright with you?

Speaker 12 (23:04):
Met?

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Are you kidding me? That's more than all.

Speaker 16 (23:06):
Right with it.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
So so I'm gonna sing this is my version of
it because I probably bleuse it up a little, so
it'd be.

Speaker 17 (23:12):
Like, don't sing if you want to live Longe. They
have no use for your song. You're did, you're did,
your did, your did.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
And that of this world?

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Hey there you yes, wow, come on, round of applause.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
That was incredible.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
That so much. Oh, thank you, Emily. Thank you so
much for like looking me up. I love that. I'm like,
oh yeah, thank you.

Speaker 14 (23:44):
We absolutely want you back in seasons five and six,
more and more and more Sylvia.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
More and more. Thank you, Emily.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
That was awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I could never have predicted that we get a blused up,
you know, just a version of your dead that was
That was great.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
I also did like Spanish to It's like because then
they can do where where where fire? That'd be cool,
right as fan.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Or like a fusion between the two, some of it
in Spaniic and some of it in English. That would
be awesome.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Yes, let's do it. Well, I'm gonna do I'm gonna
talk to my husband because he's my he's my songwriting duo,
my partners, so that would be yeah, we got to
do it. Now, that's phenomenal. That's the best idea I've
ever heard.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
You should absolutely do that.

Speaker 14 (24:29):
They already had it in didn't they have it in
a Yes?

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Yes, yes, yeah, they totally did. And Norma Taninga she
was like she was a big in her back in
the day, right, And it's so cool. It's like i'd
always heard I'm sorry, you know, I'm gonna gap, but
I'd always heard that like that, songs have a life
of their own and they find their homes. They're an energy,

(24:55):
you know, within themselves, and so a lot of songs
like well be there don't really it's not their time,
but they're kind of traveling. And like this one, I
love the way it just got found again. That's so beautiful.
And she just got she just got brought back, you know,
I love that.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
That's beautiful.

Speaker 14 (25:14):
She was a really cool person to her life story
is really exciting.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (25:20):
Yeah, oh, thank you so much. Oh, thank you for
answering my question and singing for us.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Well, I didn't have no problem.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Thank you for prompting that that that singing Emily, that
was anytime?

Speaker 3 (25:34):
All right, Wow, I don't even know I how's someone
going to follow that? Let's let's find out.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
I'm going to bring up Soy Rain, who I know
is going to have a great question because they have
had great questions in all of our other events.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Yeah, these are amazing questions. They really really are.

Speaker 18 (25:54):
Hello, I have a questions from so and from the
he's scart. What do you think of the representation of
Hispanic culture in media now versus when you're grown up?

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Oh? Man, that is something Harvey and I touched on
that I am so excited for right now. I can't
even tell you because I feel like there have been
so many and Harvey himself, he has opened so many
doors and it's literally slaying it out there, you know,
of all these stories coming out where when I started

(26:33):
out and I'm from I'm from uh. I was born
in Texas and so that's a whole different, you know,
way of being. But back in the day when I.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
Started, there weren't a lot of parts, you know, and
there was a lot of you know, people would change
their names because americanized them, you know, to try to
make it in the industry to kind of hide, which
is which is so sad. It's really really sad to me.
And so that's why I'm so excited for what's happening

(27:05):
now in everything, and not just even culture's just in people.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
It just feels like to me, like we're in this
We're in this time where there's no boundaries like people,
no age limits, no you know, no limits on nationality,
no limits on who you love, no limits. You know.
That to me is exciting. So I'm excited to see
what's to come. And there's a lot of like emerging
Latin know, writers and producers and directors, and there's so

(27:34):
many stories you know, to be told, such beautiful stuff.
And I think it's all of that. I think I
love having this melting pot, you know, having come to
New York and all of a sudden this is crazy.
But like you know, when I came to visit before
I moved here, being in the bathroom and okay, this
story is not going in a bad way. Sorry, being

(27:55):
in a bathroom and like somebody speaking Russian in the
stone to me, you know, and I was like, that
is cool. That is so cool that so many different
people can just live together, exist and then you know
I love that.

Speaker 12 (28:10):
Yeah, thank you, thank you?

Speaker 18 (28:13):
And can I ask one last question?

Speaker 3 (28:15):
Go for it.

Speaker 18 (28:17):
I just want to know what's your favorite song?

Speaker 4 (28:19):
My favorite song? Oh my gosh, yeah, it changes, it changes,
I'll tell you what though. Since since Olivia Newton John passed,
I have been just she was like I wanted to
be her. I was, you know, at her time. I
was like, my brother will tell you. I was like,
you know, sitting there in front of the mirror with

(28:40):
a brush, she goes, you know, just sitting there singing
all these songs, and just this is going to be interesting.
Like as a singer, I wasn't as confident when I
was younger as I am in my acting. And but
I signed up for my high school talent show and
I sang I honestly love you by her, and and

(29:05):
so yeah, so her passing that right now, I'm really
into her right now. And and and Blondie, I'm like,
I made Yeah, I'm making myself right now.

Speaker 13 (29:15):
But I'm going back to those times and kind of
you know, you know how music just like sparks all
these the memories, right It's like it's the music is yeah,
music like It's like a soundtrack to.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Our lives because you know, you hear tune or something
and you remember, oh I remember I was here when
that song was like big or whatever.

Speaker 18 (29:35):
But yeah, that.

Speaker 3 (29:40):
Was very sweet. That was a good choice.

Speaker 10 (29:44):
You know.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
It was very sad when when Olivia Newton John passed.
I was also a big fan.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
In fact, my mother was the one that that got
me into Olivia Newton John and Greece and Xanadu and
and I was with her when when when the news came,
it was very sad. So right, good of you to
mention her and talk about, you know, her great music.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Yeah, yeah, all right, our next person.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
I was gonna say we should do a duet.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
I don't know if I'm confident enough to do that.
I am a singer, but I don't know. If it's
not my show, I will. I will invite party, poison
up and maybe they'll do it.

Speaker 5 (30:23):
Oh no, no, no, not today.

Speaker 11 (30:28):
My name is Jamie. I'm actually from Florida too, but
I am Honduran on my dad's side and Brazilian on
my mom's side, so Puerto and Espanol.

Speaker 12 (30:44):
So we're.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
But I mean grass.

Speaker 11 (30:51):
Dando lamente, very slow span I'm working on it, but
it was great. So you come back this week along
with the rest of the Dayla crew.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
This family.

Speaker 11 (31:01):
There was such positive, strong vibes there. I was really
digging it, besides the whole vampire slang thing. But yeah, yeah,
I wanted to touch on an earlier question and get
your insight and thoughts on there seems to be like
a growing trend of Hispanic and Latino characters on screen

(31:22):
in movies and TV being shown in a more positive
light compared to a few years ago, and there were
more harmful stereotypes and depictions. So absolute, yes, I definitely
think it were going in the right direction there. So
I also wanted to see how you feel about knowing

(31:42):
that you are helping people see themselves on screen represented
in a positive manner.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
Oh man, that's so cool. I'm gonna wake me like
I'm like, wow, thank you so much for that. You know, yeah,
I never think about it, but like, yeah, the change
right where that that whole bringing up music again. But
it's like the man in the mirror, you know. We yeah,
we're more powerful than we realize. Of course a lot

(32:10):
of times, right and you you change something and people notice,
but that Thank you so much for mentioning that, because
that just warms my heart because that makes me feel like,
I'm just so glad that that's happening and that people
are viewing her that way and the whole family. I
agree with you, there was not a real positive light.

(32:30):
The roles that that that there were were very minimal,
and they were usually like you said, you know, like
drug dealers or this or that, or you know, just
not in a positive light, not showing you know that
education is a big thing for Latinos as well, you know,
and a lot of immigrants that come that I'm not

(32:51):
trying to get political or anything, but you know, like
immigrants that come to the States, you know, there are
doctors and people that are very well educated, but they
for for the necessity, you know, they come to this
country and not just Latinos from all over the world.
I will I want to this is making me want
to tell you this story because this is this really
was a beautiful thing. My mother said. I love my mom.

(33:13):
She has some great She's been so supportive of me
since I wanted to do this. You know, my dad
was always like, uh, Mika, why don't you be as
secret charity? Or be like something where you know it's
not so flighty right. But she told me one time
and I said, mom, I got another another audition for
a maid. And I was like, you know, it's all

(33:34):
these made roles and made roles and and and she
like she looked at me and she said, well, you
know me, how mates need a voice too, and they're
just as important as everybody else. So it's your job
to give them that voice. Yeah, and a positive right.

Speaker 11 (33:50):
It definitely reminds me. I can't remember what show it
was on. I want to say maybe Modern Family, but
there was a a Hispanic woman and they were talking
about how people make fun of her accent because of
her broken English, and she said something akin to I
understand two languages and you only understand one.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Oh girl, lam wow, great shade. Oh that's what Harvey
said writ in this episode. Yeah yeah, yeah, said thank
you me and I really appreciate it. Oh absolutely.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
But another we're just really hit in some awesome points
today had some great points about representation, and you know,
when anup came, we hit similar points about you know,
people speaking for c and and all, you know, the
wedding and everything, the dresses. It's so great to see
that this show has amazing representation across the board.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
Yes, I love that.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
We have way more fun life.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Okay, well now we have let's see account terrible. Hopefully
their question will not be terrible. Let's see what they
have to say.

Speaker 12 (35:13):
I just wanted to ask about something from like the
continuity in season one. I just want to know what you,
as Sylvia, would have thought about when Gierma got really
into interview with a vampire and like just knowing the

(35:33):
whole like vampire slayer heritage. What you thought of that?

Speaker 10 (35:38):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Like, so you're saying, okay, I'm sorry, So you're you're
asking me from from the episode where I first was introduced.

Speaker 12 (35:45):
Or just as the character in general, like as Giamo's
mom and a vampire slayer, just like back in the past.
How did you feel when Guirmo got really into vampires?

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Oh my gosh, I know, I know. Well the thing,
I think, the thing that was brought up in this
new episode was the fact that it's it's it's like
a thing that just kind of hits us and we
weren't really like super aware, right, And like I said,
this is all about the writing and how the writers
see this, and so I'm curious to see had we

(36:21):
done this before, you know what I mean, Like, what's
going to happen in the next episode, what's going to
come up light of this? I feel that in my
own you know, writing as as an actor, if I'd
known this, you know, I just feel like I wanted
my son to be who he wanted to be. And again,

(36:42):
that was the thing we touched on the podcast, which
was so cool. It's just that I wanted my son
to be who he is, you know, not to be
tied to the things or that anything that I felt
as a mother was tied to when I was a
kid growing up. Because I'm coming from two completely different cultures,
you know, coming from living in Mexico and coming here,

(37:05):
so you're coming with already all these norms and understandings,
and so to come in here to the United you know,
the US, well, to Staten Island or to Brooklyn, I'm sorry,
where am I to Brooklyn? And you know, having to
carry these two things and feeling like I had to
be a certain way right to fit in. And so

(37:28):
for Sylvia, I feel that she didn't want her son
to go through that that he shouldn't have to feel
a pressure from society or for any or even from me,
you know, for him to be his own person and
to be happy. And that was important to me. And
that's the whole reason for you know, as my parents,
you know, immigrants coming here, they want a better life

(37:51):
for their children, you know, they want that. I want
that for Harvey. I want want for Guilledmo. I want
Gilledmo to have a better life, to be happy, and
to feel like he could be anything he wants to be.
And so, you know, and as kids, you see kids going, oh,
I'm going to be this now. Oh now I'm going
to be this, you know, and kind of just be thinking, Oh,

(38:13):
he's just going through a thing. You know, he's just
got things unknowingly after twelve years of not seeing him
that it became a thing, or that it always was
a thing. Did that answer your question? Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I feel like every time someone asks a question, they
get the response plus something different that is even better
than the response.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
So you're don't worry. I think everyone's happy with what
you're saying. Okay, good, Okay, let's see we have someone
who hasn't spoken yet. CoreOS. I believe the name is
or Korea one of the two.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Of those correls. Maybe Correls, is that right?

Speaker 15 (38:56):
Correl Hi cola ola? When there's I wanted to do ask.
I wanted to ask Spain.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
I'm sorry, I love Spain, I love thank you Barcelona.

Speaker 16 (39:11):
I'm not from there, but I well, I wanted to
ask if you your character Sylvia for some reason didn't
mind hanging out with vampires.

Speaker 15 (39:25):
Do you think the Girls Night she would have she
would have been invited to the girls night? And do
you think she would get along with the guys Najia
and mar.

Speaker 4 (39:34):
Oh my god, that isn't Oh my god, I can't believe.
Are you reading my mind?

Speaker 5 (39:40):
I wanted to know.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
I was watching the episode and I was like, oh
my god, how fun. I was like, I wish I
could have gone to have a little girl party.

Speaker 5 (39:52):
Yeah, and which movie would you choose? The words?

Speaker 4 (39:55):
Oh my see my first think. I don't know why,
like The Godfather al Patino, I don't know why you
even said that. That's not very life, you know, like,
but we need to sing a long song. So yeah,
so they probably would reject what I would say. They'd
be like, no, we're not watching that, Celia. Sorry, So

(40:18):
I probably would have no say, but I think I
think that even in the in the scene, in the
dining scene, maybe you picked up that, you know, I
was so interested in in Naja. I saw her and
I was like, Oh, I want to talk to her more.
I want to hear everything. I want to hear about
my my Guillemo's life when he's not, you know, with me,
what's happening and everything. I think that I would totally

(40:41):
have a blast because you know what, Sylvia needs a
night out.

Speaker 18 (40:44):
I think she.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
I think I think she would get along with him.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
I need to. I think Marvell Marlin's so cute. Just
that whole scene was amazing.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Glus friends, I think, oh.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
I love that. Yeah, we would do that little little limbo, right,
the little.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
That's We got to make that happen the next season.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
Right, jeez. Thank you for answering.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
I'm glad you were there to tell me how to
pronounce the name because I was I was doing poorly.

Speaker 4 (41:23):
Oh you're okay. Yeah, there's so many right, you just
never know. And then a lot of them when they
start speaking numbers, like when they do the numbers and
it you know, I'm kind of slow sometimes and I'm like, what, Oh,
you don't pronounce you don't pronounce it. It's part of
the thing, right, It's just shorthand that's fair.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
I think we have time for one more question. Awesome,
So hopefully it's going to be a good one. Coming
from and I know how to say this name, it's
Crashing fan girl.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
Hi.

Speaker 9 (41:54):
Hi, not as I'm also from me Europe, but from
so I know. I know you're following the show. So
I was wondering if you have, like your another favorite
character or your favorite storyline from the show, like from

(42:15):
whatever season in general.

Speaker 5 (42:18):
You know.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
I was thinking about that today because I I have
got three runners up. Okay that I just I absolutely
tore me up laughing so hard. And and somebody mentioned
before like the whole rewinding and watching again. I'd love
watching the episodes over and over again just to catch everything.
But I have to say this episode was special, not

(42:41):
just because I was, you know, in it, but the
whole story for Gullermot was so beautiful and and done
so well, and just that and then the the Colin
Robbins just cracks me up so much. I just I
can't stand it. It's just too funny when just I
could look at him and I'm like, oh my god,

(43:01):
this is this is hilarious. So between that one and
when they were trying to get Calling into the school
and they kept going back and forth with the different
relationships of who was who was the father, who was
the mother, who was this? Who was that? That tore
me up. I was laughing so hard. And then my
third one that I would have to say is the

(43:25):
one they went back into the eighties and when they
were trying to not be vampires. Remember when Nandor went
went off and was at that place where they had
the what is it the the old eighties?

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Why can't I not think aerobics?

Speaker 4 (43:44):
Aerobics? Yeah, I was thinking of like the Jane Fondi
aerobics right. That was just so freaking hilarious. There's so
many good episodes, though, but those are ones that I
just I could just watch over and over and over again. Yeah,
which is Do you have a favorite?

Speaker 18 (44:05):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (44:05):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 9 (44:07):
It's so hard choose, but definitely the getting Calling Robinson
into school was one of the best. I also think
the nighte Market from this season.

Speaker 4 (44:21):
Oh I forgot about that.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
That was all.

Speaker 9 (44:24):
Yeah, the whole scenarator was amazing. Just to see like
another quitters in this universe was so so hard warming
to see.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
Oh, I know. And then the little things that came
out of the trash can and you know when those
little like bee looking things, so cute fairies. Oh, the
little fairies were so adorable. I think Sylvia should chop
at that market and try to find Cilantro that.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Taking great episodes left and right.

Speaker 4 (45:02):
Oh my god, they're just all Yeah, they're so wonderful.
How can you like and even in the ones when
it's just little snippets of other ones and you're just
like just the whole the directors, the writers, the crew, everybody.
It's just so amazing all the work they put in.

Speaker 9 (45:19):
Yeah, I think you think that it just can get better,
but it just keeps on going and getting better and better,
and you can decide what's what's the best, what's your favorite?

Speaker 4 (45:30):
Anymore? I know I agree with you completely.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
Thank you for an awesome question to close this out. Actually,
before before we end, your mention of nandor makes me
want to ask a very quick question to get your taken.
So obviously there is a you know, a large especially
in this season they've been teasing it so much. A

(45:55):
large contingent of the fan base that loves the concept
of Nandor and and Guermo being together, or Mandrimo as
the community calls them affectionately. How do you think that
that Sylvia would react past the vampire of it all?
How do you think he would react to to Guermo
and Nandor being together? And do you like the characters

(46:16):
being together personally? Are you into that idea?

Speaker 4 (46:19):
I got to tell you this, I just love them together,
watching them together, it is just incredible. However, as as
as la mamam me memo, I would want him to
be a little nicer. I would probably be like, Okay,
I can I can handle this. I want to get
to know you better, but you need to be nicer

(46:41):
to him, right because I think he's a little sometimes Yeah,
he's a little he's a little mean to but although
I love now he's fighting back now, you know, like
he talks back and is just coming into his own power.
So that's kind of nice. And I probably see that
as also, like you know, the syndrome, like when they
said when you were young, and kids just like they

(47:03):
pull on they pull you know, they tease you, and
they poke you and pinch you because they like you,
so that little fighting would be like look at that. Yeah,
I would make him. Yeah, but I don't know if
I meet only there because you know, like garlic in it.

(47:23):
That's a good point. I don't have to look at
what I feed him.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
Yeah, well, I don't think he can eat much of anything.
I think at the time they eat, they they project
that vomit, don't.

Speaker 4 (47:33):
They'd probably be like eating and then and then spitting
and a little thing on the.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
Side, exactly like a wine tasting.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
Or we could have a we have a pet dog
and the dog ends up eating all the food.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
That's great now that you keep now. I would love
to see it in season five or six.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
You know, the two of them together hopefully, and you
know that you come to them being like, listen, let's.

Speaker 3 (48:01):
Have a conversation.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
You need to be a little bit sweeter to my
boy if you want to stay together.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Being the protective mom.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
I love that absolutely. I would be like, my boy,
you're going to treat him right.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
Well.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
Hopefully we get to see that soon and we get
to see you back as soon as possible.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Oh, thank you so much. We'll see what We'll hoping
the stars align and everything you know, and I'll be
back And I love you guys, everybody. Thank you for
the amazing questions and for being such huge fans of
the show. I mean, you can't we can't do without
you guys and your energy and just yeah, I think
that's what gives everybody, you know, the whole show the

(48:43):
energy to keep going and coming up with these amazing
plot lines.

Speaker 3 (48:46):
Well, thank you so much, and thank you for playing
a great character that everyone loves.

Speaker 4 (48:52):
