Today on the show we have Aya Kanai, Head of Editorial and Creative for Google Shopping.
Did you know that people shop with Google more than 1 billion times per day?
This is one of the many reasons why I was thrilled to talk with Aya (formerly an editor/director in fashion and beauty) because she has an inside look at shopping trends and habits for 2023 in the home decor and design space, and beyond. It’s interesting to hear what people are searching for right now – and what’s important to them when deciding where they want to put their money (especially for Gen Z and Gen Alpha).
In this conversation, Aya offers insight on the Google shopping experience, including Google’s tools and filters such as 3D imagery and AR. Doesn’t the idea of taking 3D imagery of furniture and putting it in your space to see how it looks in your home or backyard before you buy sound so helpful?
Aya shares some personal thoughts on her own home, including her decor style; what she can’t live without and what brings her great joy when she’s at home; and what she loves most about New York City.
Aya and I agree that how we shop for ourselves – what we choose to put in our homes or on our bodies – is not just about buying things to amass stuff; it’s about purchasing products that help express who we are in the world. Every shopping decision we make is an opportunity to create, support, and tell our personal stories.
