In addition to the regular burntoffering and its grain offering,
be sure the animals are withoutdefect.

SPEAKER_00 (04:46):
All right, now the last time we were together, we
looked at how the Lord caredabout the inheritance for five
women, how he cared to showMoses the promised land, which
he didn't have to, and how hecared to bring up a new leader,
which was Joshua, after theupcoming death of Moses.
Today we are looking at the lawsof offerings.

(05:08):
When it comes to worshiping God,it is to be done to his exact
measure.
And you have heard me say this alot of times as we started these
lessons.
It must be how the Lord wants itto be done, not us, not how we
want it to be or what we think, but how the Lord wants it to be
done.
Six times in this chapter, theLord says, This is a sweet,
soothing aroma to me.

(05:29):
This should teach us thatworship is important to God.
There are five offerings to theLord in this chapter, and that's
how we're gonna break thisoffering excuse me.
That's how we're gonna breakthis chapter down.
We're gonna break this chapterdown into five topics, and then
going over each offering, thefirst, the daily offering.

(05:51):
We see this in verses onethrough eight.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Command the sons of
Israel and say to them, Youshall be careful to present my
offering, my food, for myofferings by fire of a soothing
aroma to me at their appointedtime.
And you shall say to them, Thisis the offering by fire which

(06:12):
you shall offer to the Lord, twomale lamb year old without
effect, as a continual burntoffering every day.
You shall offer the one lamb inthe morning, and the other lamb
shall be offered at twilight, also a tenth of an ephi of fine
flour for a grain offering, mixed with a fourth of a hand of

(06:34):
beaten oil.
It is a continual burnt offeringwhich was ordained in Mount
Sinai as a soothing room, anoffering by fire to the Lord.
Then the libation with it shallbe a fourth of a hand for each
lamb in the holy place.
You shall pour out a libation ofstrong drink to the Lord.
And the other lamb you shalloffer at twilight, as a grain

(06:54):
offering of the morning, and ashis libation, you shall offer
it, an offering by fire, asoothing aroma to the Lord.
Now, if you do the math with allof these offerings, the annual
obligation was 1,086 lambs, 32rams, 113 bulls, 1,000 bottles

(07:16):
of oil and wine, and more than aton of flour.
In verse 7, it mentionslibations.
This drink included wine andstrong drink.
Look at verse 7 again.

(07:40):
Now, that word strong drink,Hebrews 79, 41, that word means
an intoxicating liquor.
It also means an alcoholicbeverage.
So for those of you, excuse me,let me re-take that back.
I I know not none of you, because you all sit down and you
actually study the word of God.

(08:00):
But for the illegalists outthere, this is talking about
strong drink.
This is talking about alcohol.
There is no way to get aroundit.
You can kind of play your gamesand say, oh no, they were just
drinking grape juice or adifferent form of grape juice.
No, they were drinking grapes, but they weren't drinking grape
juice.
They were drinking wine, whichis fermented grapes, and then

(08:22):
you have distilled grapes, whichperforms strong drink.
And the strong drink was uh uhwould be how you get things like
whiskey and bourbon.
So they had a strong drink.
Now you have to remember, allthings are made by the Lord, and
all of these things are good andcan be good, and they can be
made for you to enjoy.
The key is that that you thatyou don't abuse it.

(08:44):
And when you have this strongdrink, the point is not to drink
as many as you can to whereyou're drunk.
It's not to uh just keep goingand going and going until you
can't stand up.
It was just to be enjoyed.
They were to enjoy it with theirmeal.
In this case, the Lord said topour it out, and notice where he
said to do it at.
He said to do it in the holyplace.
So for any legalists out there, you can be upset about it.

(09:05):
But when the Lord said to Israelto bring the strong drink, he is
talking about wine and evenalcoholic drinks.
We're gonna move on to part two,the weekly offerings.
We see this in verse verses 9and 10.
Then on the Sabbath day, twomale lambs, one year old without
defect, and two tenths of theephire of fine flour mixed with

(09:30):
oil as a rain offering and aslibation.
This is the burnt offering ofevery Sabbath in addition to the
continual burnt offering and hislibation.
You notice that for Israel, thisis the Sabbath, so they were
supposed to bring double whatthey did the other days.
Because remember, they were todo no work on the Sabbath.
Part three.
The monthly offering.

(09:50):
So we see this in verses 11 to15.
Then at the beginning of each ofthe months, you shall present a
burnt offering to the Lord, twobulls and one ram, seven uh male
lambs, one year old, withoutdefect, without defect people.
The Lord wants you to bring hisbest.
And three tenths of an ephire offine flour for a grain offering

(10:12):
mixed with oil for each bull, and two tenths of fine flour for
a grain offering mixed with oilfor one ram.
And a tenth of an ephire of fineflour mixed with oil for a grain
offering for each lamb, for aburnt offering of a soothing
aroma, and offering by fire tothe Lord.
And their libations shall behalf a hen of wine for a bull,

(10:33):
and a third of a hen for theram, and a fourth of a hen for a
lamb.
Excuse me, for a ram and afourth of a hen for a lamb.
This is the burnt offering ofeach month throughout the months
of the year.
And one male goat for a sinoffering to the Lord, it shall
be offered with its libation, inaddition to the continual burnt
offering.

(10:54):
So we see these offeringscontinue.
We had the weekly offering, nowthat was the monthly offering.
Next we are going to look at thePassover offering.
We see this in verses 16 to 25.
Then on the 14th day of thefirst month shall be the Lord's
Passover.
And on the 15th day of thismonth shall be a feast.
Unleavened bread shall be eatenfor seven days.

(11:17):
On the first day shall be a holyconvocation.
You shall do no lubarious work, and you shall present an
offering by fire, a burntoffering to the Lord, two bulls
and one ram, and seven malelambs, one year old, having them
without defect.
That's the key to remember, without defect.
And their grain offerings youshall offer fine flour mixed

(11:40):
with oil, three tenths of anephar for a bull, and a tenth
for the ram, and tenth of anephar you shall offer for each
of the seven lambs, and one malego for a sin offering to make
atonement for you.
You shall present these besidesthe burnt offering of the
morning, which is for acontinual burnt offering.
After this manner, you shallpresent daily for seven days the

(12:02):
food of the offering by fire ofa soothing aroma to the Lord.
It shall be presented with itslibation in addition to the
continual burnt offering.
And on the seventh day you shallhave a holy convocation, you
shall do no laborious work.
So we see that the Lord givesthem the offerings that they
were to make on the Passover.

(12:22):
Then we move on to number five, the first fruits offering.
And we see this in verses 26 to31.
Also, on the day of the firstfruits, when you present a new
grain offering to the Lord, inyour feast of weeks, you shall
have a holy convocation.
You shall do no laborious works, and you shall offer a burnt
offering for a soothing aroma tothe Lord, two young bulls, one

(12:46):
ram, seven male lambs, one yearold, and their grain offering,
fine flour mixed with oil, threetenths of an ephi for each ram,
two tenths for the one ram, atenth for each of the seven
lambs, one male goat to makeatonement for you, besides the
continual burnt offering and hisgrain offering, you shall

(13:07):
present them with theirlibations, they shall be without
defect.
And one of the main things Ilike to point out in there is
that the Lord mentioned severaltimes without defect, he wants
their best.
As we talked about, I mean, way,way back back when we was in
Exodus, when you brought theseofferings to the Lord, don't
look and say, well, you know, Ineed one of these bulls, you

(13:29):
know, to help me with thegarden.
And, you know, that one rightthere got a little bit of a
limp.
Let me get that as my offering.
I mean, because you know, we'regonna sacrifice him anyway.
No, you were to give the Lordyour best.
You were supposed to take thatstrong bull and present that to
the Lord to show the Lord, Lord, you are the one who gave me all
of these blessings.
You are the one I obey, and I'mopen, and my obedience will

(13:50):
cause you to bless me even morethan you have.
So it was a key that you saidthat they stayed obeying the
Lord.
As it is for you and I, it is akey to stay on that path and
obey the Lord.
And it is a key that we dothings in his order.
We need to do things in the waythat he wants and how he wants
them to.
God takes worship very seriouslyin this chapter right here.

(14:10):
And if you were with me forchapter 27 here in Numbers, we
saw that the Lord takesofferings, excuse me, he takes
worship very seriously, and weare to abide for exactly how he
wants that done.
Okay.
That brings us to the end ofNumbers chapter 28.
I hope that you enjoyed it.
I hope that you learnedsomething.
As always, I ask you to continueto pray for me, that I stay

(14:32):
strong in the scriptures, thatthe Lord is a continual lamp to
my feet and a light to my path, and I am doing the same for you.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
