SPEAKER_01 (06:46):
Now, the last time we were together, we looked at
the laws of offerings.
Today we are looking at moreofferings, but these pertain to
the seventh month.
Now there were three moments ofsacrifice in this chapter, and
that's how we're going to breakthis down.
We're going to break down thisofferings of seven months into
three sections.
Section one, the feast oftrumpets.

(07:08):
We see this in verses onethrough six.
Now in the seventh month, and onthe first day of the month, so
it's letting us know where weare and when we are.
The seventh month on the firstday of the month, you shall also
have a holy convocation.
You shall do no laborious work.
It will be to you a day forblowing trumpets.

(07:31):
And you shall offer a burntoffering as a soothing aroma to
the Lord, one bull, one ram, andseven male lambs, one year old,
without defect.
Also, their grain offering, fineflour mixed with oil, three
tenths of an ephi for the bull, two tenths for the ram, and one
tenth for each of the sevenlambs.

(07:52):
And offer one male goat for asin offering to make atonement
for you.
Besides the burnt offering ofthe new moon and his grain
offering, and the continualburnt offering and his grain
offering and their libationsaccording to their ordinance for
a soothing aroma and offering byfire to the Lord.

(08:13):
Now I think it is helpful tolook at the Jewish calendar to
compare it to our own, to havean idea on the time of year that
these things had happened.
Because sometimes I think that, depending on where you are, as I
mentioned to a lot of youbefore, I'm in North America,
and depending on where you are,I think sometimes we kind of

(08:35):
think about our times and ourlifestyles, our calendars, our
days.
And when you're readingscripture, you kind of want to
compare it, but we have toremember that this was a
different time and this was in awhole different land.
So I think it's good to look atthe the Jewish calendar and kind
of compare it to us.
That way, when you are lookingat these things, you can say,
okay, that would have beenAugust in our time, or it would

(08:57):
have been here in this time.
Because remember, the scripturesthat are written here, they are
comparing everything to theirtime.
So let's look at the 12 monthsof the Jewish calendar.
Now, month one is Nisan or Abed, which is our months March
through April.
So that gives you an idea ofwhen the first month is on the
Jewish calendar.

(09:18):
Their new year would start inMarch.
Ours starts in January.
Month two was Yazar, which isour months of April through May.
Month three, Saivan, our monthsof May through June.
Month four, Tammuz, our monthsof June through July.
Month five, Ab, our months ofJuly through August.

(09:41):
Month six, Elel, our months ofAugust through September.
Month seven, Tiz Rai, orAthanim, that would be our
months of September throughOctober.
Month eight, uh Marsh Van orBual, our months of October
through November.
Month nine, Shizlev, our monthsof November to December, which

(10:05):
is where we are right now as I'mrecording this.
Month 10, Tibet, our months ofDecember through January.
Month 11, Shabbat, our months ofJanuary through February.
And then months 12 is Adar, ourmonths of February through
March.
So what that just did was sorry, that gives us an idea of the

(10:29):
months that they are in asopposed to the months that we
are in.
Now we will move to part two, which is the day of atonement.
We see this in verses 7 through11.
Then on the tenth day of thisseventh month, you shall have a
holy convocation and you shallhumble yourselves.
You shall do I'm excuse me, youshall not do any work.

(10:52):
And you shall present a burntoffering to the Lord as a
soothing aroma.
One bull, one ram, seven malelambs, one year old, having them
without defect.
And their grain offering, fineflour mixed with oil, three
tenths of an ephar for the bull, two tenths for the one ram, a
tenth for each of the sevenlambs, one male goat for a sin

(11:14):
offering, besides the sinoffering of atonement, and a
continual burnt offering and hisgrain offering and their
libations.
Now, you know, I would like topoint out something in verse
eight.
Let me go back to verse eight.
And you shall present a burntoffering to the Lord as a
soothing aroma, one bull, oneram, seven male lambs, one year

(11:36):
old having them without defect.
Now, I really want to look atand focus on defect.
These offerings that were giventhere were supposed to be given
without defect.
So I have said this a lot oftimes that when the Lord wants
you to give something, he wantsyou to give your best.
Not your second best, not yourthird best, not your fifth best,
but your best.

(11:57):
So he wants these animalswithout defect.
One bull, one ram, seven malelambs, one year old.
They had to be one year old andno defect.
They had to be pretty much thehealthiest of what you had, the
best of what you had.
No limp, nose, uh lazy eye, swollen eye, you know, one eye,
uh, you know, three legs insteadof four.

(12:18):
But he wanted your best.
And I want to point that out.
Now, Peter does make mentions ofthis in his first epistle.
Hold your fingers right here andgo to the New Testament and go
to First Peter.
And we can look at this in thein the New Testament.

(12:41):
All right, I'm there.
So we are looking at 1 Peter.
Sorry about that, I was I wasalmost there.
Okay.
1 Peter, we are looking at 1Peter chapter 1, verses 18 to
19.
Knowing that you were notredeemed without perishable
things like silver or gold fromyour feudal way of life

(13:05):
inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood as of a
lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
Now, this is how that ties in.
Peter is reminding the people ofthe past of how they did things.
They had to offer uh theseanimals that were gonna give
their blood, they had to bewithout defect.

(13:25):
And Peter is saying that in thistime we had an unblemished lamb.
That unblemished lamb was theblood of Christ.
Which brings us back to Numberschapter 29, and we're looking at
the third part, which is theFeast of Tabernacles.
And we're gonna look at thisstarting back at verse 12, all
the way to the end, which isverse 34.

(13:47):
Feast of tabernacles.
Then on the 15th day of theseventh month, same month, you
shall have a holy convocation, you shall do no laborious work,
and you shall observe a feast tothe Lord for seven days, and you
shall present a burnt offering,an offering of fire, by a
soothing aroma to the Lord, thirteen bulls, two rams,
fourteen male lambs, one yearold, which are without defect.

(14:10):
There we go again, withoutdefect.
And their grain offering, fineflour mixed with oil, three
tenths of an ephah for each ofthe thirteen bulls, two tenths
for each of the two rams, and atenth for each of the fourteen
lambs, and one male goat for ascent offering, besides a
continual burnt offering, isgrain offering and its libation.

(14:31):
Then on the second day, twelvebulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old withoutdefect, and their grain offering
and their libations for thebulls, for the rams and for the
lambs, by their number accordingto the ordinance, and one male
goat for a sin offering, besidesthe continual burnt offering,

(14:52):
and his grain offering and theirlibations.
Then on the third day, elevenbulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old, withoutdefect.
There we go again withoutdefect, and their grain offering
and their libations for thebulls, for the rams, and for the
lambs by their number accordingto the ordinance.
One male lamb go for a sinoffering, besides the continual

(15:14):
burnt offering, and his grainoffering and his libation.
So this is besides that.
Then on the fourth day, tenbulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old withoutdefect.
They green offered and theirlibations for the bulls, for the
rams, and for the lambs, bytheir number according to the
ordinance.
And one male goat for a sinoffering, besides a continual

(15:36):
burnt offering, is grainoffering and its libation.
Then on the fifth day, ninebulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old, withoutdefect.
And their grain offering andtheir libations for the bulls.
For the rams, and for the lambsby their number according to the

(15:57):
ordinance.
And one male goat for a sinoffering, besides a continual
burnt offering, and his grainoffering and his libation.
Then on the sixth day, eightbulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old withoutdefect.
And their grain offering andtheir libation for the bulls,
for the rams, and for the lambsby their number according to the

(16:19):
ordinance.
And one male go for a sinoffering besides a continual
burnt offering, his grainoffering and his libations.
Now remember, they're doing allthis besides what they already
had to do.
Then on the seventh day, sevenbulls, two rams, fourteen male
lambs, one year old withoutdefect, and their grain offering

(16:39):
and their libations for thebulls, for the rams and for the
lambs by their number accordingto the ordinance.
And one male goat for a sinofferings, besides a continual
burnt offering, his grainoffering and its libation.
On the eighth day, you shallhave a solemn assembly.
You shall do no laborious work.
But you shall present a burntoffering, an offering by fire as

(17:02):
a soothing aroma to the Lord, one bull, one ram, seven male
lambs, one year old withoutdefect.
Their grain offerings and theirlibation for the bulls, for the
rams, and for the lambs by theirnumber according to the
ordinance.
And one male goat for a sinoffering besides a continual
burnt offering and his grainoffering and his libation.

(17:23):
You shall present these to theLord at their appointed times,
besides your volatile offerings, and their free will offerings,
and for burnt offerings, and forgrain offerings, and for
libations, and for your peaceofferings.
And Moses spoke to the sons ofIsrael in accordance with all
that the Lord had commandedMoses.

(17:44):
Sorry about that.
I think I said verses 12 through34.
I really meant 12 through 40,which was the end of it.
Now I gotta tell you something.
Going through these laws in thebook of Numbers, looking at what
the Israelites had to do in thattime, don't you think the Lord
every day that the Lord JesusChrist came into this world and
he became our offering, ourfinal offering, he became uh he

(18:07):
became our sacrifice, the lastlamb that had to be sacrificed.
Because if he didn't, now I'mnot saying for us Gentiles, but
Israel would still be doing thisstuff to this day.
I think the Lord that over hereuh where I'm at, we don't have
to do all of these sacrifices, all of these animals, you know,
the scapegoat and all thesedifferent offerings, but we can

(18:28):
go directly to the Lord Himselfand ask to be forgiven.
We can ask for his guidance, wecan ask for his mercy, we can
ask for his peace to be put uponus because he is the mediator
between us and the Father.
Who?
The man Christ Jesus.
When he when he died on thatcross and he said it is
finished, there was anearthquake that broke the veil
from top to bottom, which was uhin the Holy of Holies, which was

(18:52):
symbolic that now there isnothing between man and God.
It's time to be reconciled backwith the Father, something that
the Lord Himself promised backin Genesis chapter 3.
All right, that brings us to theend of Numbers chapter 29.
As always, I hope that you gotsomething out of this lesson.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
