Speaker 1 (00:02):
All right, and welcome into the Betting Pros College Football Show.
It's our week one preview episode where we'll give you
our picks and predictions for the top ten games on
the slate. I'm your host, Seth Wilcock, and I'm all
but ready to inject a full slate of college football
back in my veins this weekend. The fall weather It's
(00:22):
officially back out this way as well, and I think
everyone's looking forward to one last long weekend before we
get into the busy fall season. And backrolling with me
is the crew, of course, including a man who's coming
off a scorching hot Week zero Big game Hunter, Treil
Furman Junior Trell. How does it feel to come out
of a wacky first weekend? Very much in the Green?
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Oh, it feels great. I mean everything went right. Iowa
State money line shout out, so our Lord and Savior
Rock Obeck. We had a great job with Kansas as well,
little iffy there at times, but Kansas was able to
get it done and cover the number with these there
at and then Carson Hansen, the running back for Iowas
Day associated running back group was revamped and he got
(01:05):
it done on the receipt on the rushing, plus we
hit the parlay as well. So like it's been a
it was a great week zero. And you know what,
like Kobe said, job is not done. Job not done
is week one. I'm ready to roll it over and
have another great week.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
All right, Well, glad you're back in the saddle today
and also on it down as someone who stands alongside
Matthew McConaughey in support of his Texas Longhorns this weekend.
Scott Bogman Boggs, how are you today? Hook them as always?
And what movie holds the number one spot in your
McConaughey rankings?
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Oh man, we are.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Marshall's pretty strong, a little sappy, but I love the
story of it is pretty good. But there's so many
good McConaughey movies. I mean, I'm not gonna I'm not
gonna sit here and list them all for you. So look,
we're enjoying all of the talk leading up to the
Ohio State Texas game.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Obviously, you guys know I'm dialed in for that.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I'm ready for that eleven am kickoff my time here
in Houston, so ready to watch that. Excited, But there
are more plays for week one that I like that
I thought I was gonna like, which yeah, you know,
makes me a little nervous. A lot of dogs I
went through and looked like this. Just a lot of
(02:24):
massive point spreads this week. Ten FBS versus FBS games
with spreads over twenty points, lots of home dogs, ten
that are within a touchdown. There's three home dogs that
are getting more than a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
But it's not good matchups.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
It's UNLV or I'm sorry, Southern miss getting catching thirteen
and a half against Miss State, FSU getting fourteen against Bama,
Sam Houston getting nine and a half against UNLV. So
not a lot great there. Home favorites and close games.
After Ohio State and Clemson, it's Tulane Temple, U Toss State,
(03:00):
Oregon State that you can take, and then home.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Favorites with big with a lot of juice.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
There's like, I think another ten games in there between
eighteen and a half and eight and a half, So
a lot of big spreads, but with a lot of
non con and a lot of FCS matchups that you're
gonna see.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
There's just a lot of mismatches this week.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
So to me, it's like finding a favorite I like
and trying not to find a reason I hate it, Right,
That's what I did. And there are more games that
I came away with laying points that I liked than
I typically would on.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
A normal week.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
So I'm interesting to be picking a lot of favorites
in these mismatches.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
I feel like this week.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
All right, Well, I'm excited to dive into that with you. Also,
Days and Confuse? Can we give Days and Confuse a
low respect?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Man?
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I feel like, of.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Course, but that's like the creepiest character he ever played. Oh,
I think it's his character. I guess so.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
I think it's say is most iconic role as well.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Didn't we cancel that character?
Speaker 1 (03:56):
I guess. I guess that's a good point. It is
twenty twenty five before we get going. Shout out to
everyone who is hanging out with us either on the
BEG pros YouTube channel or the audio feed the easiest
freeway support us. Give this video a thumbs up if

(04:16):
miss a moment of coverage this season. Great to see
so many of our regular listeners back in the comments
of our early Lines episode this week, so do the
same here. Let us know your best bets for week one?
What are you tailing of ours? What are you fading?
We want to hear from you, and let's go ahead
and jump into the Week one college football picks and predictions.
(04:37):
And we'll go ahead and start in Tampa Bay on
Thursday night at five thirty pm Eastern Time, where the
spread is actually shrunk since our earlier Lines episode this week,
leaving the twenty fifth rank to Boise State. Broncos is
five and a half point favorites against the South Florida Bulls.
This is a matchup between two pretty solid G six teams.
I would say Boise State they won twelve games last year,
(04:59):
of course, won the Mountain Watch Championship, advanced to the
College Football Playoff, and they will have no action genty
in this game. Meanwhile, the Bulls, they were seven and six,
but they do get veteran dual threat quarterback Byron Brown
back under center here this week, and as well as
a lot of their defense that's returning. So it's a
clean bill of health for both of these squads. And
our projections are showing that they should actually be closer
(05:22):
to a nine and a half point spread. So, Terrell,
do you agree that there is some ev on the
Broncos here?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
I think so. I'm not one hundred percent there, but
I just have a lot more question mark's on the
soft floor to side a ball that I do. Boise State.
I know Boise State offense should still be really really
good with Madson still at the helm and the running backs,
I mean, jeen C has gone, and so everybody's just
kind of assuming that this running back room is going
to take a big fall off in production, and I
don't even think so. Like I think that Malik Sharad
(05:50):
and sire Gains are both really really good. The offensive
line is great. They got ninety nine career starts with
sue NFL prospects along the line. I think that the
offense is at actually going to be very comparable to
what they did last year. Whereas South Florida Biden Brown
is back from injury, so we'll see the question marks there.
He was a quote unquote surprise starter last year before
(06:11):
he even got hurt, and they're missing the school all
time leader in receiving. So I just don't know how
good This offense is going to be the top three
running backs league. The defense is veteran and they're bringing
back a lot, but I don't know if it's good
enough for Boise State. So I'm not necessarily there laying
the points with Boise State, even though I probably should.
But I like that Boise State team told over thirty
(06:33):
four and a half. I think Boise is going to
have a great offense like they did last year, and
it's all going to continue to click for him even without.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Gent Okay, so team's point total for Terrell here bugs,
do you have a play in this game?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (06:44):
I like the under in this game, and I think
that Boise State is missing a gigantic piece in ash
and Gente. Like I do think that they're going to
be good, I think people are underrating them. There's a
lot of talk about South Florida upset in this game,
which wouldn't be the most shocking thing. They're at home
right take away the quote unquote heart of this offense
(07:05):
with Ashton genty. Maybe this is a completely different Boise
State team, but I don't think that's giving enough credit
to the Boise State defense and what they did last year.
Getting this team to the playoff right, And I think
really South Florida is kind of capped by Brown. Like this,
they live or die by Byron Brown, So if he
doesn't have a good game, I don't think South Florida's
(07:25):
offense does. So I like with figuring it out for
Week one, Boise State without their star player and Ashton
Genty to score less than they typically do doesn't mean
that they'll go you know, it doesn't mean that they
won't score points. But I think the defense also holds
South Florida to a low point total. So for me,
the under isn't play in this game. I am following
(07:48):
the public, which I know Terrell doesn't typically love following
the money, but I think that they have it right
on this one. And while we start to see that
number slide towards South Florida, I'm more and more willing
to jump upon Boise State.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Here as well.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Okay, all right, well, so we got some totals action
there on Thursday. Let's pick things up on Friday night
in Boulder, where the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets are four point
road favorites against a new look Colorado Buffalo's Team. Tech
has some new phases on the defense and in the
receiving corps, we do it. Veteran quarterback Haynes King and
running back Jamal Haynes still leading the way after back
(08:22):
to back seven and six seasons under Brent Key. And
this just in as well, just a little bit ago,
this came across the wire. It will be Liberty transfer
quarterback Cayden Salter under center for Dion Sanders squad. However,
he could be without top running back Dallan Hayden, who
is doubtful for this game. The BP projections have this
(08:43):
right at a three and a half point line. What
say you, Bogman, I say, I hate this game. I
do not like it at all. I think that Colorado
is the better team here. Wow slightly. I think there's
more talented in there at home. My lean is towards
taking the points, I guess, but I just don't like
this game. I don't because we heard Juju Lewis is
(09:05):
gonna play as well, so you're gonna do this dueling
quarterback weird stuff at Colorado, which makes me just less
confident in what they have.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Georgia Tech.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Georgia Tech is a team that if you make mistakes,
they will absolutely eat you a lot. So how many
mistakes is Colorado going to make? Are they gonna make enough?
Or are they just gonna put the boots to this
squad like they did to TCU a couple of years
ago in Week one and no one saw that coming
as well. So I don't like this game. I think
(09:35):
it's gonna be very tight. I like Haynes King. I
like what Georgia Tech has on defense as well. I
think we talked about it in particularly the other day Seth.
You know, can they take this next step? Can they
really move themselves in here? And I just it's Haines.
It's kind of the problem that we saw with with
(09:57):
South Florida. It's like Haines King, I like Jamal Haynes
means they're losing Eric Singleton though, right, So what are
these what is this wide receiver room going to look like?
I like Rutherford, I like the old line. I just
think that Colorado has a lot of talent and they're
at home, so I don't really want to mess with
this one Week's zero or week one.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Excuse me.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
They also did get Eric Rivers to transferend, who was
one of the best receivers in the g six last year,
so I think the receiving corps will be a little
bit better than given credit for. But I understand the concerns. Trell.
Do you have similar concerns to Bogman?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Absolutely not. No, you guys hate Colorado on here. This
is the same thing as last year. I got to
cove here and be the voice of reason. I am
the Georgia tech Risper. I know what's going on with
his team. First of all, the Heisman talks for Haines
King are absurd. I understand he had a better year
as a quarterback last year. You don't have to get
(10:52):
better and then automatically beat in the Heisman conversation. No,
this is not it. He is a little bit too
indecisive and needs more more as a passer. Great runner
of the football, very fun, needs more work as a passer.
Britt Key the coach five and seven ats as a favorite,
twelve and five ats as a dog. You buy into
him as a dog, you fade him as a favorite.
(11:13):
You got Dion Sanders here, great head coach four and
oh ats as a home dog. The Caden Salter error
is here. There was no doubt in my mind that
Salter was going to be the starting quarterback and the
Juju Lewis stuff is all facade and maybe he comes
in there for like a stap or two or a package,
but like, there's no way this is all Saltter's show.
(11:35):
And I think saltterzs is gonna go and have a
great season. The offensive line is the best offensive line
that Deon Sanders has had there already, and so yeah,
absolutely best officers line they had. And then the defense
he brung in a bunch of transfers, transfers from Bama,
from Texas State, from Fresno, second team All American, first
Team All Conference USA, USF Wyoming. Like they have a
(11:56):
whole bunch of new talent around the defense, and I
think that they're maybe not be as good, but they're
going to be better. And so yeah, I like Colorado
plus four man. I think this is a good spot
where Caden Saltzer is going to show that he can
run this offense and this can still be really really
dynamic Colorado offense, and I think they're going to be
right there, locking step with Georgia Tech the whole way.
(12:18):
So I like Colorado here. I'm a back dr getting
it done on the road as I mean at home
as a dog four to Ozho eightcs.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Yet again, Yeah for me, like you guys know my
fandom for the Yellow Jackets, for Haines King, and I
think this is just another one of those business trips, right,
Like we saw these guys go overseas, upset Florida State
in Week zero last year. We saw them in Week
one a season before that, go and you know, upset
a TUCU squad coming off a national championship game. So
(12:46):
for me, I think Georgia Tech not only was better
in total offense last year thirty fifth to Colorado sixty ninth,
and that was with Shaidor Sanders and Travis Hunter, but
also better in total defense as well, and they played
their best in these big games. They upset Miami, they
took Georgia to eight overtimes in cleid, old fashioned hate.
And I can also vividly remember watching Caden Salter last
(13:08):
year on a Wednesday or Thursday night against Kennesaw State,
one of the worst FBS teams last year. Absolutely Falter
and ruin a big parlay I had when the money
line was like minus thalls. So I'm not buying in man,
I'm not buying in insalter.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I some upset Florida State was the wildest statement you said.
And I didn't hear anything else after you said upset
Florida State last year. Florida State wasn't horrible.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
They were horrible.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Just because everybody buys into some fake preseason rankings and
assumes that the good teams are the good teams yet
again over year. It doesn't mean it's an upset. Florida
State won one game.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Last year too, but I mean.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
On purpose, just so that you could correct me and
say two, so you could realize how crazy you So
it's off about upset Florida State. Oh my gosh, upset Florida,
Florida State. The Florida State thing was was up upset
Florida State. Just say they were.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Game?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
He could have. I know, I bet them outright, I know,
and it was or like Fort State or something like that. No,
upset Florida State was where you lost me. Upset Florida State. Wait,
so we talk about Florida State today.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
I mean this is a four point game, right that
Colorado is replacing a ton on offense, So uh, they're
bringing in a bunch of transfers. I'll agree with you, Trell,
And this is why I said that I leaned towards Colorado.
I think the roster is better, you know, coaching, let's
call it even, right whatever, Colorado's at home also elevation,
so they're yeah, a little bit. I'm not to litlevation
(14:52):
it is. They're playing at elevation, yes, but I'm not.
That's not a factor that I'm really putting in here.
But you know, to your point, it does make a difference.
But again, it's a lot of transfers. It's week one,
it's the first time we're seeing this group play together.
That's why I'm laying off of it, right, is because
there's so many transfers coming in and you're replacing so
much of Colorado. I think they should win. I kind
(15:14):
of think they shou wouldn't going away, like Terrell, says Seth.
Sorry to say, but Georgia Tech is absolutely one of
those teams that if you make mistakes and that is
definitely within the realm of possibility for a brand new
Colorado offense, Georgia Tech will capitalize on them.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
So I don't like this game at all.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Give me the Tech money line minus one twenty seven.
I used a fifty percent boost at fandle to get that.
So I'm forgetting the points and I'm just taking a
side here. But yeah, it looks like I'm on a
little bit of an island. But let's go ahead, let's
get to the main course.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
The top ring.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Texas Longhorns are catching two and a half points on
the road in Columbus to battle the defending national champions
and third ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. No line movement on
the spread so far this week. OSU does have starring
defensive tax Edric Houston listed as questionable. Heading in. Texas
has a few injuries they're monitoring on their offensive line,
(16:06):
but should be healthy otherwise. Our projections agree this line
should be right around two and a half. Do you
agree with that trail?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yeah, I think the line should be around two and
a half. But no, come on, first game of the season,
horn is down. I'm not taking Texas here, and it's
just for me. I'm sorry. I get the revenge angle
that could possibly exist there with Texas, but since two
thousand and six one and six ats versus the Big
ten Sarkesian area, we can narrow it down a little
(16:34):
bit more. At Texas's one in six straight up two
and five. ATS is a dog. And yes they have
Arch Manning. I think Arch can be really really good
this year. But I do have questions along the offensive
line for them. He talked about the injuries already just
one starter back along that offensive line when forty five
combined starts. I do think that the running back room
actually is still really interesting. But CJ. Baxter is coming
(16:56):
off of a nasty ACL mcl PCL type injury. They
have the talent and raw talent everywhere on this team,
just straight up raw talent of very very good high
school recruits around the entire team. But they lost first
team All American and a third team second third team
SEC in the secondary, So I think that secondary is
(17:17):
going to be a little bit rough. And at the
end of the day, I think Saying is enough to
be Will Howard. I don't think Will Howard was anything special.
I think Saying is good enough to be what Will
Howard was for this Ohio State team. And they bring
in CJ. Donaldson in the running back spot, and if
you watched him at Virginia West Virginia, then you know
that he is good. He should be a thousand yard
(17:37):
rusher behind this Ohio State offensive line. I think he's
going to be really, really good for the Buckeyes this year,
and this is going to be one of those games
where they just kind of show, hey, look I'm here
and I'm here to stay. So I think Ohio State
actually has enough here. A little bit less experienced than defense,
but still highly recruited, highly talented players. First team All
American Caleb Downs is back in the secondary. That's really
(18:00):
help against the young, inexperience wide receivers against Texas. So
I'm on Ohio State. I think Ohio State is getting
this done. I think they're a better team. And I
just I don't think that Texas is the number one
team in the country. That's just how I'm a putt it.
I don't think that the number one single country right now.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
I understand standard points. I do like the CJ. Donaldson ad.
I think him and James people will be a great
one A one B situation there in that backfield. I
do worry though, that maybe Texas is coming in with
a little bit more power up front on the offensive line, Bogs,
is that gonna be a difference maker for you in
this game?
Speaker 4 (18:33):
I mean, I think this game is so tight, it's
gonna be so down the line, you know. I maybe
I'm wrong on that, but I just think this is
a very very good game, and it's gonna be one
weird bounce one way or the other. It's gonna be
a play that we talk about that go, oh my god,
did you see this interception or this fumble or whatever.
I think that is going to be the difference. Terrella
(18:54):
is right, right, I think the offensive line has major
questions in Texas. Now, roster strength says six in the country, right,
but experience, there's not a lot there. We're replacing so
many players now Goosby, big Feldman, freak guy, right, Like,
there's a lot of good there, but it is a question.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Allio State also replacing a lot on their line.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Too, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
And really the thing that concerns me the most for
both these teams is replacements along the defensive line.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
Right.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
I think that Mikel Williams j T Twomlow or Mikel
Williams JT two Molow and company over on the Ohio
State side, that's going to be a big missing piece.
I think Texas is going to be able to run
at them. But also Texas lost Broughton, they lost the
interior of their line as well, and brought in transfers.
I think both those things are going to be tested early.
So I think, like I said, maybe a first half
(19:43):
under I believe it was twenty three and a half.
Don't really love that number. I'd like to see go
up a little bit more before we get there, to
like just over twenty four and a half. I think
that is my favorite playing this game. Picking a side
is flipping a coin to me. I think if Arch
plays the way we expect him, two Texas wins. If
Arch makes mistakes and the line can't keep him clean,
(20:05):
Ohio State could easily win, and Julian Zayan making mistakes
could change this as well. It's his first start ever, right,
so there's a lot going in here, a lot of
moving pieces from last year. It's a massive game. Ohio
State gets is catching points and they're at home, thought
Or is laying points and they're at home. So I
(20:25):
don't have a good argument to tell you to come
off of the Ohio State side, Trell, But I also
would not have an argument if you would pick the
Texas side. So to me, this is down the middle
let's find something we like here. I'll take the first
half under because I think both these teams with the
inexperiensive quarterback run in the first half at the weakness
(20:46):
of that defense just to test it. So that's my
favorite play in this game would be first half under
twenty three and a half.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I really like the first half underplayed because especially in
Week one in general, right, you got a lot of
moving parts on the offense. I mean, how many hold
did we see against k State over there in Farm
again in last last week, especially in the first half
early on. So I think that could be a play
that you applied to a couple games on this slate,
but really appreciate that breakdown from you guys. This is
(21:13):
gonna be one that I'm just gonna park my butt
in front of the TV and have some action on
some other games and not get invested here, but really
love those plays nonetheless. Before we keep it moving, though,

into SEC territory when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats
in Lexington. Toledo clear favorite to win the MAC and
they have a ton of returning production on both sides
of the ball and really no injuries to report of Kentucky. Meanwhile,
(22:20):
they have some injuries including RB one Dante Dowdell and
RB two Seth McGowan. They are both listed as questionable
coming in. This line has moved from Kentucky being favored
by seven and a half earlier this week to now
nine and a half. But is that still long enough
in most better's eyes. I don't think so, because the
projections are telling us, hey, maybe they should be closer
(22:41):
to thirteen point nine. What say you, Bogman, Is this
too short of a line for a Mac versus SEC matchup?
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Yeah, we talked about it before. I know you're a
big Toledo fan, but Goo rockets.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, that's the only reason we're talking about this game.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Look, Kentucky gets some juice on offense with Cal's coming over. Right,
thirty five touchdowns nine picks it in carnif word. They
just need to score points. And we talked about this before, Seth.
Like the SEC versus the Mac is not a very
good matchup most of the time, right, So I just
think that Kentucky at home Kentucky is a low level
SEC team, but a low level SEC team still stomps
(23:19):
almost every MAC team, probably every MAC team. So they're
at home, it's their opener. They have a much needed
quarterback to actually make this happen. Like I said on Monday, Seth,
I've seen Kentucky on quip mode.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
It is miserable.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Yeah, so, but Kentucky on hard mode put up with
Georgia last year at home. So I do think that
Kentucky has it in them to get up. I think
if you're not getting up for week one of the season.
What are you doing? You're not coming off a major
loss or anything here, And I think they put the
boots to the rockets. I think Toledo's very good for
(23:55):
a MAC team, but coming into play on the road
against the SEC team in week one, it's just too
tall a task.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Gassling where you at on this one trail?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Yeah, opposite side of box. I'm with you and the
tileda rockets here. First of all, PSA, PSA, please, PSA
to all coaches out there, stop thinking that you can
change these quarterbacks. They are who they say they are
at times. I'm sorry, but Kauzada didn't work at Texas
(24:27):
A and m didn't work at Auburn, goes to incarnate
word and now I'm supposed to believe that he's just
the guy at Kentucky. Again here, we've already seen the
first two stops. It didn't work. But oh, he gets
to win over Bama at home in college station when
Bama had the first back to back away games, and
like forever, and that's his claim to fame and how
(24:48):
he gets this job. He is not a power five quarterback.
He's not that good. I'm trying to tell you he's
not that good. I promise you he's not that good.
He has a veteran offensive line and maybe that's enough
for here. But if you're talking about the questions at
running back as well, oh dude, this is way too
many points. Like You've got a duel threat quarterback with
(25:09):
Gleason for Toledo that I think could really really give
that defense problems with how he can move with his legs.
And you got Junior Vander Ross, who is one of
the best receivers in the MAC. Like I trust the
secondary of Toledo, I think they'll be able to stay
with those receivers and just give some nasty looks to Kazata,
who can throw interceptions and be off target with the football.
(25:31):
I do not believe in him as a quarterback. So
I will not be like a big number with with
Kentucky at all this year. I'm very much on Toledo.
I think they could get it done, and I wouldn't
be surprised if they get out right victory here. But
I'll take the nine and a half for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Hey, that's why I picked this game, because I knew
there were gonna be some dissenters on both sides, and
to me it's I really do believe Toledo is the
better team despite the inferior overall recruiting, and I think
even the AP voters agree. I mean, they were in
the other receivings vote category as well. In Kentucky one
hundred and fourteenth in total offense last season. I don't
(26:08):
see that getting much better with big Zach Calzada here
and Toledo eighty six. Again, those numbers a little bit
skewed based on the competition, but Kentucky was a top
fifty defense, Toledo right outside of the top fifty defense
as well, and Kentucky lost a ton in the portal.
We can't overlook that too. They lost a lot, and
the Rockets are always shown up in big games in
the non con here Terrell. Last year they beat Mississippi
(26:31):
State forty one to seventeen. Last season in start Bill,
they also kept yeah and then they also kept it
within two of Illinois the season prior and going all
the way back to twenty twenty one, Coming off a
year where they only played a couple games in the MAC,
Toledo took eighth rank Notre Dame to the brink in
South bend in Week one thirty two to twenty nine.
So I think Toledo's experience on defense will be too
(26:53):
much for Big Zach, who hasn't played a snap of
FBS ball since twenty twenty one, especially without his top
running backs. I think he won't be able to get
out to a big lead. And Toledo keeps this close.
I don't know if they win it, but I think
they keep it close. Give me the nine and a
half as well.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Cutter Bowley, big time prospect, miserable last year. But if
Calzada fails, yeah, maybe both. Maybe an off season for
Bowley would be better.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yeah, well, well shows you you know how poor that
that room was. That Calzada comes out of it right, So.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
I mean it's not a good room, But I like
it's the trenches. For me, it's a line of Kentucky
and the d line of Kentucky versus Toledo. So it's
the court they can beat, the size, it's what.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
It's the quarterback for me, I think I understand.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I understand that.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
But if he's handing the ball off and making the
most of his opportunities, maybe he's better. A lot of
experience and he's thirty five to nine touchdown of picks
last year. I just we saw improvement last year. Doesn't
mean he's going to be good for Kentucky. It doesn't
mean he's going to beat Toledo either, But I like
the difference on the line.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
To me, is okay. Another early kickoff takes us to Atlanta,
where the twenty fourth ranked Volunteer are still between a
thirteen and a half to a fourteen and a half
point favorite against the Syracuse Orange app State transfer Joey Agilor.
He's expected to start for the Balls. They will be
without a starting qrnerback on defense who's out with a
knee injury. They also have their top tight end and
(28:16):
two wide receivers questionable heading into this one, which could
be trouble because this is a very brand new wide
receiver corps. They lost Squirrel White in company over the offseason. Meanwhile,
talk about losses Syracuse, they lost their top quarterback Coyle McCord,
running back LeQuinn Allen, their top receiver Trevor of Penya
he's now a Penn State and any Lion, and Ronde
Gadsden junior at tight end. He's also in the NFL
(28:39):
now a Los Angeles Chargers, So I think that they're
going to have their hands tied behind their back a
little bit here. On offense. Notre Dame quarterback transfer Steve
and Jelly he will be under center that leads the
BP projection showing massive value on Tennessee. Do you agree
with that, Trell?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
No, I don't think so. I think it's a lot
of points, be honest, but I'm not I didn't get
there on the side. I just like the under give
me under fifty and a half. I think that both
of these two teams lost so much production offensively and
they're still trying to figure it out. Both new quarterbacks missing,
both running backs, thousand yard rushers on both sides, Like
(29:18):
I mean, Samson is one of the greatest, you know,
the best season in school history. So I think that
they're both missing so much all along down three receivers
for the Syracuse Orange. He talked about all everything that
Tennessee is moving. But the defenses actually have a lot
of production on both sides that are coming back, especially
in the front seven, and I think that defense is
gonna lead the way here. So yeah, give me under
(29:40):
fifty and a half.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
I liked I actually kind of do like that play
What about You Bogs?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
I like that play. I also like Tennessee here more
of a lean. I just think that Syracuse is one
of those acc teams that bowse up every once in
a while and they're good and then they returned to
just being garbage for a while. Right like, They're definitely there,
definitely a free flowing team. They're not a perennial powerhouse
at all. And when you're one hundred and twenty eighth
in returning production in the country, you lose so much
(30:08):
off of a team that surprised everyone was so good
last year. I just don't have a lot of faith
for you going into Tennessee week one and making any noise.
Even if Tennessee is down production, there's still eleventh and
returning defensive production. There's a lot of juice on that
defensive side specifically. So I like laying the points and
taking Tennessee. And I like Terrell's underplay as well. I
(30:31):
think the logic behind it is outstanding. I really don't
like the Syracuse offense. Steve Angeli had a pretty good
drive for Notre Dame last year. Is that going to
translate to a whole good year of opening up this
offense again, I'm not so sure, so yeah, give me Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
And I like the underplay as well.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
The best game of the three point thirty slate is
billed as the number eight Alabama Crimson Tide on the
road as twelve and a half point favorites against Mike
Norvel's Florida State Seminals. Bama they're returning fourteen starters, while
the Noles they're bringing back just six starters from that
two to ten team last year. Yes, two wins Trail
not one and Ty Simpson. He's in at quarterback for
(31:10):
the Tide, but he'll be without running back jam Miller,
who suffered a collarbone injury, expected to return by the
Georgia game at the end of the month. In September,
Tommy Castellanos, he will be under center for Florida State,
should have his whole healthy roster to work with. The
BP projections are telling us there's a ton of ev
ev on Bama here and that this should be closer
(31:32):
to a twenty point spread. What do you think about
this one here, Bobby? Do you agree with the projections
that Bama by a long shot?
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Like, I mean this is a good roster for Florida State,
right but Week one, even at home against an Alabama
team that you know, Ty Simpson might make this offense
better than it was last year. I agree Milroe. Milroe
is very athletic and he has so much edible upside.
(32:01):
I don't know if he was ready to start for
Bama last year, so I kind of think him starting
for the Seahawks this year. And that talk is irolling,
but ty Simpson might be better just in the as
a passer.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
He's not going to have.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Twenty rushing touchdowns like Milroe. He's not going to have
that spark that Milroe brought this team on occasion. But
I do think that Florida Dada is a really good roster.
They brought in and recruited you know, Castianos and a
lot of really good transfers. But their focus is going
to be running the football right on offense. That's traditionally
(32:33):
very hard to do against Alabama. So I don't like
this matchup for Florida State to start the season. I
think They're going to run into a lot of brick walls,
So I'll lean towards Bama here.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
What about you, trell.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
I mean, it's really hard to like for me to
want to bet you when you shoot yourself in the foot.
Why would you ever, as a former Boston College quarterback
who got bitched and then you quit on the team
ever in your life open up your mouth to say,
as you transfer to a two win Florida State team,
(33:08):
right that Nick Saban won't save them from you this year? What? What?
Why did you give this Alabama team that is so
disappointed in how last season went any type of bulletin
board material for playing you week one? I mean, this
is completely this is this is working backwards. This is
(33:29):
not getting inside of their head. You're actually giving them
bulletin board material that this Alabama team has a deep
RB room, So I don't think it matters if Ty
Simpson is in mobile. In fact, that's actually the stereotypical
Alabama quarterback who is just really just a simple quarterback
that can Wow. That was embarrassing. That a very simple
quarterback that could make the passes and hand the ball off,
(33:52):
and you use all the other really good skill position
players like Ryan Williams, Jeremony, Jeremy Bernard, and the strong
offensive line that they had. By the way to Bower
thirteen to two and one in the first four weeks
of the season in his career, Dog, why would you
open your mouth?
Speaker 3 (34:09):
No, it was media day this.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
Team, it was media day. They were goading him, you know.
But also, you're right, why give them any fuel to
the fires?
Speaker 2 (34:22):
State might not even.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
The Florida State Trrell though, Florida State is the opposite
of Syracuse.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Right.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
They are a perennial powerhouse that was down last year.
So the roster strength is good, but Alabama it's not good.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
The offensive line is still a question mark. They don't
have They have no improvements along the offensive line. They
just have a bunch more starts. They barely got better
on the defense and the only reason they're deep better
on the defense last year. They may win four games,
which is double So okay, I guess that's great. It's
not going to be this game against Alabama. This is
I think Alabama lay thirteen and a half. They are
(35:00):
going to beat the crap out of Florida State.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
Yeah, I agree. I laid two units on it. I
think anything under two touchdowns is more than enough for me. FSU.
Keep in mind, while they were a two win team,
they're also only two eight and two against the spread
last year as well, fourth worst clip in the FBS,
and I just think starting with Bama is going to
be really tough sledding for him. Man Like against non
SEC opponents last year, Alabama won by an average of
(35:25):
forty point three points. The only non ACC opponents the
Seminoles faced were Memphis they lost twenty to twelve, Notre
Dame they lost by forty nine points, and then Florida
they lost by twenty points as well. So I think
this Alabama team, as Bog said, I think it's better
because they have a more conventional trigger man under center,
a better offensive coordinator there, and Ryan Grubb as well
(35:47):
one of the best offensive lines in the country. They
faced Louisiana Minroe next week, followed by Wisconsin at home
and then a Bot before taking on Georgia, So no
worry about a letdown spot for Bama. Rolltide. Another top
ten matchup getting underway in South Carolina Saturday night and
at primetime with the number nine LSU Tigers meet the
(36:07):
number four Clemson Tigers. Not much line movement since earlier
the week or no injuries to report as well. BP
projections also not showing an edge on either side of
this one. It's gonna be tight, Terrell. But you know me,
You know how I like to fade LSU under Brian Kelly.
Are you thinking the same thing here with the Clemson
Tigers and Dabo Sweeney who now using the transfer port
(36:30):
a little bit?
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Nah?
Speaker 2 (36:32):
I think I'm actually gonna back him here. This is
it seems like he's really taking the fact that they
haven't won a hold an opener. I'm sorry, an opener
at all in the three seasons that he's been there,
and he's taking it to heart and he's posting it
and selling everybody, and hey, waity to get ready for
week one. We're going on the road to Death Valley,
(36:52):
the Battle of Death Valley here, and we've got to
be prepared. And I think the defense isn't proved from
last year only allowed twenty four points per game. They're
going to be better than that. Nesmyer should be improved,
and they have a bunch of talent around them, and
Clemson has to figure out replacing MafA. The defense still
is going to be really, really solid. Like I think
that this is really just a tight game all the way,
(37:14):
and I'm just not walking into Club Nick having this
Heisman performance in that first game. Matter of fact, Clemson
and Club Nick both actually are not really good in
the openers. Clemson four and four straight up two and
six ats in the last eight openers. So I like
the points here, give me four points. I'm getting over
a field goal here, I like taking over a field goal.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Give me LSU plus four Bogvin.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
I think both can be correct. Give me Clemson on
the money line and let Terrell have his four right,
I think we might be able to thread this needle.
I think this is a very very close game. I
like Clemson because they're at home. They have the number
one returning production in the nation, number first on offense,
fifth on defense, so much NFL talent. I like you said,
(37:59):
Dabo has opened up portal, but LSU had like one
major issue last year. It was the secondary, and they
went out and plugged those holes with the transfer portal.
Ls he was number one in roster strength in the
country this year based on the stuff that I look at,
So I really think LSU is probably the better team,
(38:20):
but going on the road, having to put it together
against the team with the best returning production in the
country and NFL talent at every position on the field.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
I think it's a tall task to ask week one
for LSU.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
To do that.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
So I like Clemson, but I want if you want
against the spread. The money is flowing towards LSU right now.
I would wait and see if this drops to two
and a half, or I would just say Clemson on
the money line and pair it with another bet that
you like in a parlay or something to add you.
So I'm on the Clemson side here. But this is
obviously gonna be such a fun game. This is like,
(38:56):
this is why you're gonna get Texas Ohio State, and
then later you're gonna get LSU Clemson.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
What a great day, man, It's gonna be sensational. I
can't wait. Do not text me, do not tweet me,
do not beat me like you're not reaching me, because
my butt's gonna be on the couch all day. I
already did the landscaping for this week, so I will
be ready to uh to enjoy one one full day
of college football.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
You got done before Thursday? He's ready for that. Thursday's
late too, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
I'm ready, baby. Let's do you want to track all
your wagers in one place. I know it's difficult. We
got landscaping, we got mowen to do, we got all
these other things going on in our life. But you
can actually do it. With the Betting Pros Pick Tracker.
It syncs up with your sportsbooks to tally which picks
hit and which miss. Plus, it gives you a live
look at what the public is doing, so you can
(39:43):
know in real time whether you should be fading these plays,
maybe you should be backing them. Track your picks today
with the Betting Pros Picktracker at Bettingpros dot com, slash
Tracking or on the Betting Pros Sports Betting app. On
Sunday afternoon, the fun continues with the Verrgin Jinia Tech
Hokies traveling to Atlanta, where they are seven and a
(40:04):
half to eight and a half point dogs against the
thirteenth ranked South Carolina game Cocks. Despite the height for
Lenora's Sellers and Company and no injuries for South Carolina
to speak of, this line has not moved since earlier
in the week when we visited a Bogman. Meanwhile, though
vaw Tech they could be without their starting running back
Bowling Green transfer Terian Stewart and their and their right guard,
(40:27):
Brody Meadows. So projections do have a slight shade towards
the game Cox. What about you, Bogman, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
I'm I'm on. I would lean towards South Carolina.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
But the big question here is what I said before,
is can Vawtech keep up offensively with South Carolina here?
And you know that's the question we talked about Drones, right,
Drones is a very good, experienced quarterback, but I don't
know that he has the juice to do it against
an SEC defense. Right this SEC, this South Carolina defense
(41:00):
is still very, very strong. They're ranked right now forty
first nationally. I think Dylan Stewart is one of the
best players in college football on the defensive side of
the ball. I think he's going to kind of be
an issue. We saw VOTEC come out struggling last year
in Week one as well, So I just I really
(41:22):
like Leonora Sellers. I like what they're doing there, but
this is a lean. I don't really love this game.
I lean towards South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
What about you Treell I know Bogman and I earlier
in the week we were looking can we get a
six and a half for South Carolina looks like it's
not going to move in that direction unless you have
some type of boost equity offered by sportsbook. So where
do you move and land on this current line that
we do have offered.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Well, I would hope that the contingent was waiting for
my thoughts on this game, because you know, close ties
to the South Carolina program, close ties to the Virginia
Tech program. To let you know, Virginia Tech plus the
points is the way to go here. Wow, there's just
a little bit overhype in South Carolina and what they
were from last year. They lost a lot of NFL production.
(42:07):
You've got the sophomore second year kind of slump there
for sellers. Just a little bit, not saying this a lot,
but just a little bit. Especially he got some money
in the offseason. They stayed loyal to South Carolina, like
I understand it. And also Beamer, this is a big
game for him. I mean, Frank Biemer is Virginia Tech.
(42:29):
That that's Virginia Tech. Like as so Shane his son
being able to coach against them. He's been talking about it.
But I think this Virginia Tech team knows that too,
and I think they're gonna give it to him as well.
Drones was hurt playing with a sprain mcl a lot
of last season, so I don't think that he were
really seeing the best version of him. Plus, Virginia Tech
brings in a lot of transfers on the defensive side
(42:50):
of all. I think that side of ball is gonna
be so much better for Virginia Tech this year that
this is gonna be one of those kind of ugly
games that Virginia Tech just finds themselves in on the road.
I think a lot of may get it out right win,
but I definitely like Virginia inside. Plus the points and
that plus money on the dog is enough for me
to sprinkle.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
All right, Terrell taking the dogs once again here is
saying not so fast, my friends. Enjoy it, enjoy it.
It's another Top ten matchup in South Beach on Sunday
night as well, with the sixth ranked Notre Dame fighting Irish.
They're coming in as a two and a half point
favorite on the road over the tenth ranked Miami Hurricanes. CJ.
Carr will be taking over at quarterback for the Irish,
(43:29):
a team that's returning eleven starters, and we'll have a
roster at full health behind him to begin the season.
Carson Beck, on the other hand, he's getting his first
test as Miami Hurricane, and he should have a full
allotment of weapons around him and upfront. Although we talked
about it on our earlier show this week that they've
lost a ton in the receiving corps. All three receivers
(43:50):
are gone, the running back's gone, the tight end is
now a Seattle Seahawks and Elijah Royo as well. So
BP projections are confirming this line should be right around
where it is two and a half to three points.
So where are we going here, Terrell? Is this somewhere
where it's time to hammer down on the Irish?
Speaker 2 (44:09):
I mean, like I mean, if you guys, if you
guys want to Mario Christaballa, it got Carson Beck, alright, man,
Mario Crista ball across the Beck for the rest of
the season, all right, all right, Mario cristal ball. Oh
and four ats last four games against top ten teams?
(44:30):
Are you trusting Mario christaball in a close game? It
was projected to be a close game, and that these
two teams are supposed to be very comparable. Like I
understand the youth of Notre Dame, especially in the quarterback spot.
But Marcus Freeman is an ATS covering machine. He coaches
a great defense, and I don't think Christo ball with
the lack of weapons that they've had from last year,
and then Carson Beck at quarterback for whatever reason, I'm
(44:54):
gonna enjoy fating this team all year. Let's just say
that Notre Dame all the way, all right?
Speaker 1 (44:58):
Rolling with the Irish.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
Say what says you, Bogman, I say, I don't like
this game in Miami. With Rayne New starting quarterback for
Notre Dame, I don't like Carson Beck. I'm with you
guys in this I do really like Miami's defense, though
I really like Ruben Bayn and company on the side there.
I get Notre Dame wrong consistently, so it's probably Notre
(45:22):
Dame since I'm leaning towards Miami, but I will have
no bet in this game.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
I don't like it.
Speaker 4 (45:27):
Carson Beck has a lot of experience, He's not good right,
and we've seen him fold like Origami under pressure. There's
a lot of pressure in this game. So I think
traditional conventional wisdom says, let's take Notre Dame We've seen
Carson Beck ruin this cake before.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
I get it. But I really like Miami's defense. I've
never seen CJ.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
Carr is Jeremiah Love one hundred percent right now, I
think there are enough questions from Notre Dame to make.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
Me not like this game. So I'm just gonna stay
away from it.
Speaker 1 (45:54):
Yeah, my biggest bet of the week. I'm going multiple
multiple units on it. It's Notre Dame money line three
and one. Yeah, go go Catholics. The new Pope will
hopefully be watching from overseas. He might be a Notre
Dame fan. He was from up in that Midwest area,
so yes, so the New Pope might be riding with
us Terrell. But I mean, eighty percent cover rate last season,
(46:17):
one of the best in the FBS, and that was
when that like, let's all forget dude, all the injuries
that Notre Dame faced down the stretch. Their offensive line
was a mess, their defensive line was a mess, They're
too deep was a mess. And also Jeremiah Love was
not healthy in that run of the National Championship Game.
So they are such a better team last year than Miami.
All their returning players I think are in the positions
(46:39):
that matter compared to Miami, who's missing pretty much their
entire offense outside of some linemen.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
I'm baden Carson Beck here, Notre Dame by. I don't
know enough enough here for me to take it. So
really looking forward to that one on Sunday night and
then Monday night. What a treat this slate as Boys
Bill Belichick make his college football coaching debut. On Monday
night at eight pm Eastern Time, the TCU horn Fogs
(47:06):
will be traveling to Chapel Hill, where Sunny Dyke squad
is a three to three and a half point favorite
against the North Carolina tar Heels. No injuries to report
on either side of this, and the projections this week
will get you up. They love the horn Frogs. They
think they should be closer to an eight point line.
They're showing twenty two percent expected value on the horn Frogs.
(47:27):
If you're willing to lay at our uterurel.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
No, absolutely not. Where are we getting at?
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Then?
Speaker 2 (47:33):
CCU is just this great, good team that they're supposed
to be that much favorite over.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
Josh Hoover's nice man.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
No, no he's not. They're okay at best this This
CCU team has been up and down around the way
all the time. I think he's turnover prone. And then
they got a true freshman behind him that they really
want to play in front of him, So now he's
playing with the pressure of that, all of that, and
then you add all of that into the fact that
you're taking a turnover prone and a true fresh and
(47:59):
QB which ever one that they end up deciding to
play more because you can never trust TCU and you're
giving them against Bill Belichick, that defensive mind, who, by
the way, got his guys. He's got seventeen overall transfers
coming in on his defense with five starters, so he's
got a lot of talent coming in. And then on
(48:19):
the offensive side of the ball, we got Go Lopez
from South Alabama. Do you guys not remember us betting
Go Lopez last year and how good he was on
that South Alabama team, And he's got an offensive line
that has one hundred and fifty five career starts. Like,
I don't understand the thought process of let's fade Bill
Belichick this first week because there's been nothing that's been
talked about more this entire offseason. Bill Belichick, his girlfriend,
(48:42):
all of that, and what is the last What happened
the last time TCU went to go play Week one,
a team that had been talking about all the way
through the offseason, they took an L to Dion and Colorado.
This is Bill Belichick and you NC all day. He's
gonna set a statement and TCU can't be trusted, Bogs.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
It's a noaw for me, dog on just betting this
game in general?
Speaker 3 (49:04):
What about you hard pass. I am with you, Seth
on this one.
Speaker 4 (49:08):
Like listen, you can roll your eyes Trel And I
don't mind that the take that Bill Belichick is a
technician that will stomp Sunny Dyke's and company into the ground.
But I also don't mind the fact that, hey, Bill Belichick,
you know, had the best quarterback in the world ever
for a long time in his career. Maybe he's not
(49:30):
as good as we think in the college level is
going to be tough for him. We've seen the college
level humble a lot of NFL coaches. We've seen the
NFL humble. It's fair share of college coaches as well.
It's a different game, and I think that TCU comes
in with experience here. I would lean towards them, but
I am a hard pass on this game. I don't
(49:51):
want any part of it. I don't think I can
pretend to know what UNC is going to look like
coming out the gate, and I know that I am
luke warm on TCU right a lot of experience with Hoover.
I think this is a better team than the post
getting stomped by Georgia in the National Championship, team that
got rolled up by Colorado and that awesome offense.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
But I just I'm gonna stay away from this one.
This is a fun one to bet. We'll find some
player props for it on Friday, but I'm not gonna
take a side or okay, a total in this game.
Speaker 1 (50:25):
All right, gentlemen, before we get out of here real quickly,
give me your best bet of week number one for
the college football season. Terrell starts out, Man.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
Dude, how do you talk crap about Bama? Like what
Nick Saban can't save you? Like they don't have one?
Is still one of the top recruiting crasses in the nation,
and you got bitched at Boston College Alabama lane thirteen
and a half.
Speaker 4 (50:48):
All day, Boggs, I'm gonna lay a bunch of points here.
We're gonna lay twenty three and a half for Indiana
versus Old Dominion. And my question is, is Zodi you're
gonna score Allan had the chance to put the boots
in the opponent last year, they did it.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
Seven and eleven wins were by twenty four or more points.
Last season.
Speaker 4 (51:07):
Some of those games were Power four teams UCLA, Nebraska,
Michigan State, Purdue. They all beat those guys by more
than twenty four points. You can't replace the magic from
last season. But Mendoza comes over from Cal I think
he could be better than Rourke and he has thirty
second in total returning production, thirty eighth on offense, twenty
fourth on defense. They have a top twenty five transfer
class as well. So Mendoza hem beat Coogan on offense.
(51:31):
They plugged the holes on defense. Oh do you surprise
South Carolina last year in Week one? I don't think
coach sig is going to let that happen to his
guys at all.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
Google him.
Speaker 4 (51:40):
He beats guys, He beats opposing teams by a lot.
So when they get a chance to put the boots
to somebody, they do it. And I think they are
going to smoke Old Dominion.
Speaker 1 (51:50):
Give me the Notre Dame money line minus one thirty
ESPN bet. I'm going four units down on it. I
don't care. I don't care about the weather. I don't care.
