(00:37):
Welcome back to Beyond Sunday, and thanks for joining me for
day 15 of anchored in God'spromises.
This month we've been looking atdaily promises from God's word,
truths that can keep us steadyin the middle of life's
uncertainty.
Today's promise is one of themost well-known verses in the
Bible, but I want you to hear itwith fresh years.
It's Proverbs three verses fiveand six.
Trust in the Lord with all yourheart and lean not on your own
(01:00):
understanding in all your ways.
Submit to him and he will makeyour path.
Straight.
Trust is an all-in word, right?
To trust in the Lord with allyour heart means placing the
weight of your life in his handswithout holding back a backup
plan.
Just in case partial trust islike leaning on a chair with one
(01:21):
leg missing.
It might hold for a second, butit's gonna collapse when you
really need it.
God calls us to put the fullweight of our confidence in him.
To be honest, that's hardsometimes.
Especially when trusting himmeans surrendering control over
something precious.
Our relationships, finances, health, or even our future.
(01:42):
But this verse reminds us thatthe safest place for our full
trust is in the hands of the onewho sees the whole picture.
Now, we're told not to lean onour own understanding, not
because thinking is bad, butbecause our perspective is
limited.
It's like standing at a streetlevel In a city you can only see
so far down the block.
God sees the city from above.
(02:04):
He knows the side streets, thetraffic jams, the construction
zones, and the quickest route towhere you need to be.
When we lean only on what we cansee and figure out, we risk
missing.
Missing God's better plan.
Trusting him means believingthat even when his path doesn't
make sense to us, it makesperfect sense to him.
(02:25):
Then the word submit here meansto acknowledge, to yield, to
bring under his authority.
And it's in all your ways, notjust in the big spiritual
decisions.
Submitting to God in all ourways looks like asking him for
wisdom.
Before you answer the difficultemail, it looks like pausing to
pray before making a financialchoice.
(02:47):
It looks like inviting him intothe way you speak to your kids
and the way you speak to yourspouse.
It means seeking his directionbefore you step into a new
season.
It is living with an ongoingawareness that he's not just
your Sunday guide, he's youreveryday leader.
And here's the promise.
If you trust him fully, lean onhis understanding and submit
(03:10):
your ways to him.
He will make your path straight.
That doesn't mean easy orwithout obstacles.
Hebrew the phrase means he willremove the unnecessary detours
and lead you toward yourpurpose.
Ultimately, his purpose, it'sabout alignment.
Your steps lining up with hiswill.
I've found that when I'vetrusted God in a decision, even
(03:31):
if it's been a hard road,there's a deep peace knowing I'm
where he wants me to be.
That's the straight path.
Being in step with his plan.
I once knew a young couple whofelt God calling them to leave
their comfortable life and serveoverseas.
They didn't know where thefunding would come from or even
exactly what their role wouldbe.
Everything in their ownunderstanding.
(03:52):
This didn't add up, but theytrusted.
They leaned on God's wisdom.
They submitted their plans tohim, and within weeks doors
opened unexpected financialprovision, a clear ministry
opportunity, and a supportnetwork that stood behind them.
They told me later if we hadwaited until we had all the
answers, we would've missedGod's best for us.
(04:12):
So here's your challenge today.
Identify one area where you'vebeen leaning on your own.
Understanding more than trustingGod, write it down.
And then pray this prayer.
God, I'm trusting you with allmy heart in this area.
Lead me even if I can't see howit'll work out.
And then when you're tempted totake control again, repeat that
prayer.
(04:32):
Let's pray.
Lord, we confess that it's easyto lean on our own
understanding, but today wechoose to trust you with all our
hearts.
Teach us to submit every part ofour lives to you and straighten
our path so we can walk in stepwith your will.
In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
Thank you for spending these fewmoments with me on your
(04:53):
mornings.
If today's message spoke to you, would you submit it and to a
friend, not just the message, but that verse, let it be an
anchor for their soul as well.
I'll see you back here tomorrow.
