Wedding cocktail hours set the tone for the entire reception, yet finding that perfect musical sweet spot between ambient background and engaging atmosphere remains an elusive challenge for many DJs. In this season opener, Joe Bunn and Brian B reveal their secret weapons: tracks that consistently make guests approach the booth asking, "What is this song?"

The hosts share carefully selected gems ranging from Sylow's smooth R&B cover of "Dilemma" to Jazzy D's reimagined "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" that delivers the perfect groove for guests still transitioning from ceremony mode. These selections strike the delicate balance of being recognizable enough to connect with multiple generations while offering fresh arrangements that elevate the atmosphere beyond predictable standards.

Beyond the music, Joe revisits his controversial take on DJ business sellability, providing valuable context about building sustainable multi-operator models versus remaining a solo performer—particularly critical as DJs reach their 40s and 50s facing increased competition from younger talent. This segment offers a masterclass in long-term business planning that any entrepreneurial DJ should consider.

The episode rounds out with practical recommendations including a game-changing $11 steamer/iron combo perfect for traveling DJs, plus an extensive breakdown of the hosts' favorite music pools and subscription services for staying current with quality edits.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
what's up everybody, welcome back to beyond the DJ
Booth podcast, with my man, brian B, and your boy, joe Bunn,
brought to you by, brought toyou by DJ Event Planner, dj
Event Planner, dj Event Planner.
And we got a new sponsor.
Did you know this was episodeone of season three?
I did not know that.
A new sponsor.
Let's go Estart.

(00:44):
Tell me about Estart.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You ever met my man CP.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
I have not.
He's a good dude man.
Cp is a good guy.
I'll tell you how I've used it.
He's got a lot of programswithin it.
It's a software thing.
Okay, a lot of programs arewithin Estart.
The thing that I have used andactually had a great response to
it was a corporate event.
I did end of last year put up abunch of QR codes around the
room.
People could scan it, takepictures and they showed up on

(01:10):
the video.
Dj booth I had for thatparticular show Interesting, so
it was basically like aninteractive live slideshow.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Interactive photo booth.
So pictures were popping up onthe screen all night of people
around at the different parts ofthe party.
Even better, had AI built in.
So there was no middle finger,no bad symbols, no whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Crucial for crucial.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Shooting your junk in the thing Like Saquon didn't
have to sit there and monitor itand approve or disapprove
photos all night.
Like it actually pushed throughpretty much everything, but the
AI basically stopped anythingfrom lewd from coming through.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
It also has, like an interactive seating chart.
There's a bunch of differentfeatures on this program.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Where do we go to learn more?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
At startcom E-S-S-T-A-R-Tcom.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
We were reviewing our season two metrics and looking
at what shows did the best.
One of them was our musicepisode Shocker, shocker.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Imagine that A DJ podcast talking about music.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
So we thought we'd put together another list.
Yes, what's this?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
one on.
This one is very similar to thelast one.
The last one crushed on socialfor us.
We asked you guys to commentthe word dinner and you would
get the dinner playlist, andthis time we are going to do
wedding cocktails, okay, and thecriteria being, brian, it has
to be kind of a song that youplay in this cocktail set, right

(02:27):
, or it's on that playlist orwhatever, and people come up and
be like, damn what, that's agreat song, or I love this song,
or whatever.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
And I want to step further and tried to find tracks
that weren't necessarily likeremixes that you would have to
find on a pool.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I gave.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I gave two in one.
I gave one edit, two straight, two straight aheads got it.
So I tried to do ones that youcould find on spotify, right,
everywhere else, right, and weare going to create a spotify
playlist.
What is the word?
Don't use one that you'vealready used in the past we had
right issue.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
We did have that issue.
How about heater?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
h-e-a-t-eater.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, and then we would love a review too.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
We're in season three .

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Like we need more reviews.
We do.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
We haven't had one in a while On wherever you listen
to the podcast, leave us areview.
There we go, or the websitebeyondthedjboothcom.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
So we came up with three a piece.
Yes, we did.
I got one.
I'll go with the first one here.
This track, closing my eyes, isan R&B classic Sensual, sexual.
No, no, it's kind of current,Kind of current.
But I like it because itdoesn't have the rap in it.
Did you cut it or somebody elsecut it.
No, somebody else put ittogether.

(03:36):
This is by Sylow, my guyS-Y-L-O-W.
It sounds so close to kellyroland.
This is dilemma.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
The nelly track okay with kelly roland.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Oh, you went covers, I just covers no, no, no,
they're not, but this one ispretty good I'm hungry, sorry,
my stomach's growling.
I played a little bit of theintro so you can hear the intro.
Oh, people singing, peoplesinging While they're listening
to Cocktail.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
This is fire Cocktail , it's not supposed to be
Jamming, jamming.
It's a groove, I'll let it comeback.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
So you can see how it comes back.
No rap, just cocktails.
Sipping a little martini it'sgot that modern vibe right, but
you don't know who the singer is.
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
I don't think it's silo.
Edit, this is silo if you lookit up on spotify this fire, all
right yeah, I love bro Hit mewith one of yours.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
You know, for me, I love old, I love old songs, I
love old soul, I love funk.
You know I was born in 71.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Damn I always think about that, kevin Hart video.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
He was going to be interviewing Don Cheadle.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
He was so close to being my wild card for my last
episode.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
I was like you know I went on like a week ago here he
was at the at Deepak.
Yes, that's right, he killed,he slayed.
Opener was good too.
I can't remember his name.
Anyway, let's go with theRedbone one.
I love the way the drums comein and people just kind of know
this song and you can kind ofsee them singing along, even
though they probably couldn'tname the song.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Okay, that beat's iconic yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
And it's in a bunch of movies.
I love this.
Yeah, I think it's in Guardiansof the Galaxy maybe, okay, you
know.
So it kind of transcends, like.
So like my parents listened tothat song when I was growing up

(05:56):
and then I think it was broughtback in the movies and things
like that.
But I just love the way itstarts.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah, oh no, that's great.
That's like an ace.
It'll never not work.
Work right.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
there's not one crowd just that mood set doors open
or you know, cocktail hourstarts and people have heard a
bunch of shitty classical orwhatever during the ceremony.
They're ready for somethingelse.
Right like that could be yoursong, one of the cocktail.
I love it and it just works.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Go ahead what you got , I'm thinking, similar first
song, maybe out of the gate forcocktail.
You just come from this likesuper serious ceremony.
You don't want to just hit themwith some fire, right?

Speaker 1 (06:30):
out of the gate.
Too much for grandma.
Kind of like groove it in.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
So for grandma specifically, this is a Barry
Gibb cover.
Oh shit, oh cover, cover.
Okay, this is, I just want tobe your Everything, wow.
But the beat almost has like a.
I'm starting it from thebeginning of the song so you can
kind of see how it has.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
This is Spotify available.
Spotify available, wow, okay.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
By Jazzy D, the Groovemaster and the
Groovemaster.
Band I did make a custom edit,so you can kind of I didn't want
to wait the whole verse to- getto the chorus yeah, again,
light, light, blue, luffy.
People are coming into thecocktail A little vocal.
Oh, that's sexy Grandma's justloving it.

(07:12):
She's like this DJ's prettysolid.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah right, you know what I mean.
She's not disgusting, yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I love this.
Wait till we get to the chorushere in just a second.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Oh, you cut right to it.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Good groove 105,.
Go anywhere with it.
You know what I mean.
Very new disco-y, but theyslowed it down a little more
than the original I don't hearthe Barry Gibb vocal slowed it
down a little more than theoriginal.
I don't hear the Barry Gibbvocal.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
I just want to be a.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
I don't know, that's how he was bro, that's how he
sang.
I mean, that's pretty spot onthat is pretty spot on.
Dude when.
Timberlake and Fallon would dothat, oh, that was the best.
When they would do that BarryGib give or whatever they called
it, the barry gibbs show.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Did you see snl 50?
Yeah, that was a great show.
Oh, it was so good, there wastwo.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
There was a documentary that questlove did
about just the music okay Idon't know if you saw that.
No, I did not.
That was even better.
Okay, I'll watch it.
And then I watched most of thesnl 50.
Yeah, you watched oscars theother night.
I did a little bit, little bit.
I started watching it, man, then I would get on my phone
during commercials and the clipswere already there.
So I'm like, why am I going?

Speaker 3 (08:29):
to sit here for four.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
It's a four-hour show .
Oh, I know when I can justwatch the clips tomorrow morning
when I get up.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
All right, what's your?

Speaker 2 (08:34):
next one.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Normally Adele songs are super depressing to me, but
I love this song, old song Sendmy Love.
I think I cut it pretty muchclose to the chorus.
Here you got that acoustic kindof vibe.

(08:57):
I think I cut up this is a goodone.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
And I think it trended on TikTok or something
recently.
So I feel like again transcendslike several different decades
of people.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
No, that's a good one .
I haven't played that oneregularly.
Yeah, yeah, I think you couldadd that one back.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
I love both of yours so far.
Those are fire, all right.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I'm going to give you another fire one.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Okay, go ahead.
This is another cover.
Hold on a second real quick, since these are not, these are
on Spotify.
You can grab them, no, no, no.
That's what I'm asking, though, since these are not in a pool
necessarily how are youYesterday?
As you get older, your brainless wants to find and hear new

(09:46):
music.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Right on the internet .

Speaker 2 (09:48):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
I do too, but I mean I can see how that's true.
I think it's also because ofthe profession we're in, maybe.
Well, that's true.
I wonder if, just like acivilian, really gives a shit or
goes into that new music weeklyplaylist.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
I kind of have a theory on that.
Okay, like as you get older, you want to listen to the that
makes you feel younger.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Stay listening to stuff that you know I'm saying
yeah, I do young like your, yourbest moments like yeah, say,
one coming through with the gold.
To be fair, I didn't read thewhole article, so that could be
truth okay, you know what I mean, like that could be part of it.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Right, I wanted to come up with songs where, yeah,
people come up to you and gosure, what is that?

Speaker 1 (10:29):
yeah, I need this version, I need this version, so
, so this is Amy Winehouse'sValerie right.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
It's a masterpiece.
It's one of the few.
It's an actual masterpieceRight, and I don't like it when
people mess with it.
But there were two versions thatMark Ronson did.
Okay, you know that I did notknow this.
This is definitely not that.
So let me set this up this up.
This is a moomiton.
This is not moomiton.
Okay, I know you played that atthe, I do, but I also play the

(10:55):
regular right.
This is kind of a latin vibewhich I wouldn't recommend.
Normally comes across fantasticfor a summer cocktail hour.
This is by a band called etuanais the name of it.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I'm gonna be real skeptical on this.
All right, this better be good, because I don't like to fuck
with amy I don't need therecords here we go.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
All right, yeah, put the volume up a bit more on that
one okay you don't even knowwhat it is right.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Again cocktail Light groove.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Maybe like a light pool area.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
A little sangria.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Okay, I do like it A little bit Cut off.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
I do like it.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Let me roll for a second Cut off.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Enough of an homage to her, but not.
But you can tell it's her.
It gets grooving a little bit,but you think that's Amy's?
Vocal.
Oh no, it's definitely not.
No, that's.
I didn't need it.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I don't think if, but I like the way she's singing it
, like Amy sang with that, likesmoky, barely open your mouth,
kind of record.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
That is the Spanish flow mix.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
I don't like to mess with that song much.
I don't either, and especiallyto change out Amy's crazy work.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
but I'm going to allow it and that one, you don't
know, it's coming until thevocal hits You're like wait a
minute.
What is this song?

Speaker 1 (12:32):
This young girl ran up to us the other night when we
were playing cocktails at thatgala that we did in Hickory for
the art museum, with thepainting revealing, or whatever.
I'm going Hozier, jackie andWilson.
You know that song.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
She's gonna save me, call me baby from her head to my
head.
She'll know me crazy, soothe medaily, but yet she wouldn't
care.
I love that track.
Yeah, really good, yeah, greatsong.
So I got a bonus.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Okay you ready.
Yeah, this is one you'reprobably not going to know what
it track.
Yeah, really good.
Yeah, great song.
So I got a bonus.
Okay you ready.
Yeah, this is one you'reprobably not going to know what
it is.
Okay, it's a song calledM-O-A-R.
Some war jive.
It's kind of got like athrowback to like yesteryear,

(13:24):
like the you know big horns kindof stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Oh, that far back.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah, yeah, it's by the Grammatic.
It's all pretty muchinstrumental.
There is a slight little vocalsample in there, but it's a new
song that sounds old.
Yeah, hit it.
Oh yeah, and it kind of staysin this groove.

(13:49):
Just a small little vocalsample.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
But I just feel like for the right crowd.
This is how do you rememberwhen the Great Gatsby came out,
this was how that wholesoundtrack was.
It was called like a yeah, that's kind of what this is, I
think, totally.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
It's got more movement than just that.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
But for the most part .
That's it I just thought it wasan interesting one that if you
came across that I would be likeI'm jamming to it.
I don't know what this is, butI like it enough where it would
kind of make sense, do you know?

Speaker 1 (14:19):
what's crazy, man, I've been doing this so long
that and all the people havedied now, right, I mean, it's
justing the Mood.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Totally.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Because there were still people that were in their
80s then that grew up on thatmusic.
Yeah, they've all passed now,and so you hardly ever get a
request for a song like thatTotally, or they would be damn
near 100 years old.
You know what?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I mean yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
This would be super.
It just kind the word on theInstagram heater and we're going
to send you the heater cocktaillist.
We're going to add some moresongs, a bunch more, right, yeah
, okay, probably 10 apiece 10apiece.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Yeah, okay, I think so.
Okay, brian B here, yes, interrupting yet another stellar
podcast episode, but don'tworry, this is a value add, not
just me rambling.
Have you enjoyed the musicfinds I share on here?
You know the ones that Joepretends he discovered first.
Well, if you didn't know, I'vegot a Patreon where you can grab

(15:24):
not only song lists but alsoexclusive edits of mine, yep,
custom tracks.
That'll set you apart fromevery DJ still rinsing the same
tired wedding set.
Want fresh music suggestionsevery month?
Go to patreoncom.
Forward slash DJ Brian Bofficial.
Again, that's patreoncomforward.

(15:46):
Slash DJ Brian B official.
You'll be the DJ.
Everyone's trying to figure outhow you keep your sets so fire
and planners will start nudgingtheir couples your way, and if
that's not a hard enough sell, Idon't know what is all right.
Back to the episode before Joetries to convince us that sweet
Caroline is actually a banger.
So callback time to season two, where we had another episode

(16:11):
that trended really big on thecomment section.
This was when Richie Stedmanasked about selling the business
, buying the business, boy.
You got some love and some hate, so I just wanted to give you
the opportunity to maybe go alittle deeper into your theories
on buying and selling, becauseclip you know you only get so
much of a perspective when youthrow out a clip.

(16:32):
So, people, if they weren'tlistening to the whole thing,
Please listen to the whole.
Thing.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yes, Don't just watch the clips.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
We're like we got a 25, 30 minute episode.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
If you're just going to watch the clips, you're not
going to get the gist of whatwe're talking about.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
So did you have any?

Speaker 1 (16:46):
second thoughts thoughts after two things.
One, I read through thecomments, and I always read all
the comments.
You always read all thecomments.
I responded to some of thecomments.
It's tough too, because I didkind of second guess myself.
Maybe it is sellable.
Then I started talking toAshley.
You know, my girlfriend that'snot even a question tons smarter

(17:06):
than me, right?
And she was like I think you'rewrong, like I really do think
it is sellable without youbecause of what you've built it
to.
You don't even have to go outand play anymore.
Now, yes, it has the name Bunin the name, but at the end of
the day, so do those other fiveoffices that you have across the
country and you're not there.
You don't play for thosecompanies.
They don't even know who youare.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
You know what I mean and they're successful I mean, I
don't know, I think, the wayyou looked at it, yes, there's
one thing that was missing, which is hard to quantify the
value, and that is goodwill ofname.
Right, like you're so dialedinto raleigh and to the other
offices probably too, butspecifically here, how do you
put a number on that?

(17:48):
Like it's hard to say, likewhat that's going to be valued
at.
And that's where these thingsget tricky, because one person's
going to say one thing, someone's going to say something
other.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
It's a guess it's all about what somebody's going to
pay for it.
I still stand by.
There aren't really any assetshere I don't own this building
right, I own some gear, but thatstuff's a little bit more
quantifiable, because it'sactually an asset.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Goodwill of someone's name is that's tough to put a
valuation on.
What you can say is you've beenhere for what?
20 years plus?
Yeah, so like there's not manycompanies that can say that In
any field food, hospitality, wedding planner, widget maker.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
I mean, there's not a lot of people have been around
for 25 years and be relevant.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
I think it's the other big piece too, so like
that, should carry some weightin the evaluation that's not
tied to a specific tangible item.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
The other thing that's difficult to quantify is
every year is a different set ofclients.
It's not like I have contractswith Toyota of Raleigh and they
do 20 shows a year.
Lenovo, ibm, sas, red Hat theone I played at the convention
center the other night, pindolike they make software or
whatever I did a huge event forthem.

(18:54):
I don't have contracts withthem.
All those corporate gigs comeand go.
Every set of wedding clients isdifferent.
I don't know if we're going todo 450 weddings this year or 14.
Right, you know what I mean.
Like that's why it's difficultto put a number on it and it's
only people say there's an askfor every seat, there's only a
value to what somebody is goingto pay for it, and then is that
enough to sell it, to walk awayfrom it.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Well, I was just going to go there.
I was thinking too.
I think the bigger point youwere trying to make is that you
don't have to think of it ashaving a specific end date, Like
you can still run the companypassively, so that you don't
have to feel like you have tosell that to me.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
I think people miss.
That Is why I am so passionateabout the multi-hop model, like
why I want these people that areout there.
You know grinding and yeah, maybe they only do 40 shows a
year.
Maybe they do get $5,000 a showand that's totally viable and
great if you're 30, maybe evenin your 40s, but when you start
to hit your 50s, man and you'rehaving to you know there's more

(19:51):
competition and more.
you know people in your area andmore people that are younger
than you and better DJ than youand you know shoot better
content than you.
I mean it's going to get scary.
And then what are you going todo?
You're not really going to behireable in your 50s.
If you've been doing this for20 years as a DJ, who's going to
hire you?
You spent the last 20 years ofyour life doing this and you
could have been spending thelast 20 years of your life

(20:11):
building this company scalingDude.
I mean at the end of the day,day one, I was just telling
Saquon day one you're going tohave problems.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
I just fired a guy.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
He's been here for four years.
He had to go and he's trying toclap back at me and this, that
and the other.
And I'm just you don't have thededication or the loyalty to be
here.
You got to go, man.
You know what I mean Giving meproblems, giving Randy problems.
So are there going to be?
You know, people that come andpeople that go and people that

(20:40):
help you build and people thattry and tear you down Thousand
percent.
But I know that today I couldeven all the 40 shows I have
this year.
I could replace every singleone of them today with somebody
else in my company and feelcompletely comfortable and never
play another show.
And this could be my livinguntil I die.
Do I still need to fill thepipeline?
Go out and recruit DJs, get newDJs, replace some of these guys
or the guys that have been here20 years and only want to do

(21:02):
one show a month.
A hundred percent.
That's still going to be partof it, but I don't have to go
out and play ever again and Ican still make a really good
living from this.
That's what I want for people torealize.
There it is.
It's not even a rebuttal, it'sjust an addendum.
Addendum DJs real talk.
Are you tired of trying tofigure out the DJ business alone
, struggling with pricing, bookings or just how to stand

(21:23):

That's exactly why I built theDJ's Vault.
It's everything I've learnedover 40 years in this industry
documents, sales presentations, pricing guides and marketing
strategies that actually work.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
So this was actually a wife ask and I usually use a
steamer.
I'm partial to a steamer for myclothing.
Pretty cool Okay, but I waslike dude.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
you need to quantify this.
This is getting a steamer.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
There was some weird she's about irons and I'm like I
can't pack a freaking iron bagRight you cannot, till I came
across the mini steamer slashiron combo.
Look at this little ditty here.
I'm gonna pull off this littletopper here.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
This actually keeps the no way this works it does.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
You're telling me this works.
Comes with the little measuringcup to put in the water, which
is at the very bottom there youcan rotate that thing around on
the top, just move it.
Oh, okay, so you can put thewater in there on the front.
Now, yep, this comes out, amazon find, but it's so small
and it works incredible.
I've actually used it like areyou?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
are you saying you put the clothes on the like a
bed or a table?
You can do it that way.
You can do it that way?
Are you hanging it on a hangerand you're going?

Speaker 2 (22:46):
like that's the, that's the clutch move it's this
it's the double.
So what do you think pricepoint on something like this
would be?

Speaker 1 (22:54):
29.98 11 11.7.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
You can't go wrong.
You really can't, but I feellike it just to have in your bag
.
Yeah, if you're local, youdon't have to be traveling but
like just you have a need for it.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Yeah, your, your dress shirt gets all jacked up
in the van on the way orwhatever?
Did it have a little, a littlesatchel or a little case?

Speaker 2 (23:16):
It doesn't the only case that it comes with is this
little protector on the front.
Which kind of sucks.
I wish it did have a littlesatchel.
Yeah, I love a satchel Cause, especially for this little yeah
you need a little satchel.
But I thought it was a coollittle find for $11.
You can't go wrong, so we'llput the link in the YouTube
video.
It'll be at the bottom.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
That's right.
When you go to the YouTubevideo you'll see like Brian's
Amazon store, joe's Amazon store.
Most of these things are inBrian's store.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
So we've been talking music for a little bit, but the
last thing we have on this listis the question which is also
music related, and this wascoming to us from Billy Rears,
our boy.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Billy.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Rears In Derry, New Hampshire, Derry, New Hampshire.
He asked on the YouTube whatmusic pools are your favorites
best?

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Right, I remember this.
I made a list because I'm on alot of them, You're yeah.
Brian showed me his list.
I said, bro, how do you feedyour family?
My man is deep in the pools.
You feed your family, my man isdeep in the pools.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
So you want to be fair.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I've got some partnerships I just want to
clarify that, before I say I'msubscribed to all these, I don't
want to say you don't feed yourfamily, they're well fed this
is a laundry list.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
We don't have the time to go through all of them,
but I'll just hit on a couple ofthe biggies, obviously, direct
music service is probably themost broad as far as styles that
you can find.
Catalog depth, I feel like, issuper solid with great music
service, so that'd be my numberone, would you say?
Our favorite editors live there, yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
I would do, and they're just the nicest people,
yeah.
Like shout out Warren, shoutout Kevin Scott, all those guys,
yeah, appreciate you, I meanhuge supporter.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
They're awesome Sim, they're awesome simo and they're
real djs icon like they'reactually working.
They're not just sitting intheir throwback, you know
studios just making stuff, nolonger working shows.
Yeah, so they're great theother couple ones I just wanted
to hit on real quick were uhheavy hits.
I feel like they are solid for, especially if, like you're
doing, a lot of ethnic events orneeding a broader international

(25:06):
sure music listing sponsoredyour last podcast.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
They did.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
Sponsored your last con trying to work on a new deal
here, so shout out isaac.
And then last one I'll mentionis uh x mix digital.
I feel like this is like aunderground one, because it's
kind of x mix I mean they'vebeen crapped on for so long
because they do too manyproduced urban mixes and stuff
like that where they got theintros just too much but they
have actual pool which peopledon know about, and they get a

(25:30):
lot of these mixes that areactually album released.
And the other reason why I likeX-Mix is because they don't have
the Sony issue that so many ofthe other pools do.
So you can go on there, get allof the new tracks that are not
easy to find on other pools.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
So these are the pools, yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
And then the other one I wanted to hit was the
Patreons, which is again for thenew, by the way.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
But can we just time out before you even go into the
Patreon?
We don't want to hear like inthe comments.
Like are really any chatter?
These aren't our companies,Right?
These are people we'redownloading from.
So if you have a problem withthem and their legality, take it
up with them, Right?
We don't want to hear about it.
Thank you so much.
You keep going.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
My boy and all of those are just ones that we put
on this list so that you couldgo look at at another time.
Right, see if they work for you.
Right, a lot of them havetrials, different things.
Even steve is just crushing thegame right now he is putting
out so much content it's crazynick bike also very ridiculous.
Usable stuff all of these guys?

Speaker 1 (26:25):
joe maz.
Joe maz shout out joe maz justbought a command center, did he
yeah?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
all right, deville right, deville Diggs, scooter
Conflict.
Those are the ones I'm on.
I love all of them fordifferent reasons, but you
should definitely check outPatreon if you're not already on
those.
It's kind of like a privatedirect line to these specific

(26:49):
editors.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Yeah, what about you?
What do you find in that one?
Is it late night?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
stuff, a little bit of everything.
No, not necessarily.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
No, they got a little bit of everything.
They got some good editorsthere.
They've been around forever.
Man, I feel like they get slepton a little bit, but, man,
they've been around forever.
Randy gets a lot of stuff fromthis IDJ Pool slash company,
xmix.
Again, we love XMix.
And then I was going to ask youDJ City is a great one by the
way I like them.
Dj City is owned by BeatSource.

(27:14):
Now Shout out Quickie overthere, but do you have a
streaming pool?
I don't Really.
No title, no BeatSource.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I mean, I have Spotify, I put it on download
mode, yeah but you can't DJ withSpotify you can DJ with
BeatSource Right.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
I just haven't had the need yet.
I mean, I am 1000% confidentthat I could DJ a party and
smash it with just a streamingplatform, with just beat source.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
I take that back with just beat source and do you
have like a offline crate?
I do With like your essentials.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
You can yeah Essentials, yeah, not.
Not, I don't think I filled itup.
It holds a thousand, I think.
I think, where you sold athousand, which is way more than
you're ever going to play, that's if your drive goes down.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, no, if your internet goes down internet goes
down internet

Speaker 1 (27:53):
goes down and you've got them in the locker right.
You're golden.
I mean I literally have reachedup there and just turned it off
before and just but you're notstreaming in general, so why
would the internet going down?

Speaker 2 (28:05):
it doesn't, so this is just a backup.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
But it would be great if somebody came up and made a
request, got it and I hadinternet I could stream it.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
And it wasn't in my locker Right so Interesting.
Yeah, that's it, man.
That's all I got.
Good stuff, great episode, man.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Way to kick off season three.
