We gather here today
with open hearts and minds
to grow in
(00:52):
Welcome to Bible Bytes, the podcast where we work to inspire faith
one bite at a time. I'm your host, Randy Black.
And on today's episode, we start our series
of lessons here on the podcast.
This series is on women found in the bible.
The creation of woman is a
(01:14):
pivotal moment in the biblical narrative
highlighting
God's design for companionship,
unity,
and purpose in human relationships.
In Genesis chapter two verses
18 through 25,
we see God recognizing
that it is not good for man to be alone,
leading to the formation of Eve.
(01:37):
This passage of scripture
provides
deep insight into the divine intent for marriage,
partnership,
and the role of women
in God's creation.
As we do each episode, let's open up
with a word of prayer.
Heavenly father,
we come before you today
(01:58):
with gratitude
for your perfect design and creation.
As we
study the creation of woman,
help us to understand your purpose for relationships
and the beauty of unity.
Open our hearts to receive wisdom from your word,
and may we apply these truths
in our own lives.
(02:20):
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
Genesis chapter two verses 18 through 25.
(02:43):
Then the god said, it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper suitable for him. And out of the ground, the lord god formed every animal of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called a living creature,
that was its name. The man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field.
(03:08):
But for Adam, there was not found a helper suitable for him.
So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept.
Then he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.
And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which he had taken from the man,
and brought her to the man.
(03:29):
Then the man said, at last, this is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.
She shall be called woman,
because she was taken out of man.
For this reason, a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
And the man and his wife were both naked, but they were not ashamed.
(03:57):
This passage begins with
God's recognition
that it is not good for man to be alone.
Throughout creation,
everything God made was deemed good,
but here we find something that was
incomplete.
Adam,
though surrounded by animals,
had no suitable companion.
(04:19):
This highlights humanity's need for relationship,
particularly
one that reflects the depth of companionship
found in God's own nature.
God's formation of Eve is unique compared to the rest of creation.
While the animals were formed from the ground,
(04:41):
Eve
was made from Adam's rib.
This signifies her direct connection to him,
either above nor below, but beside him as an equal partner.
The use of the term
helper suitable for him
does not imply inferiority,
(05:02):
but rather a complimentary role
fulfilling what was lacking in Adam.
When Adam sees Eve,
his response is one of recognition
and joy.
His words,
bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh,
indicate a deep connection and unity between them.
(05:26):
This establishes
the foundation for marriage,
a covenant relationship
ordained by God where man
and woman
are joined together
as one flesh.
The final verses in this passage emphasize the divine order of marriage.
(05:46):
A man is to leave his family and be joined to his wife,
forming a new and inseparable bond.
This mirrors
Christ's relationship
with the church,
showing that
marriage is is not merely a human institution,
but is a sacred reflection
(06:07):
of God's love
and unity.
We have a few key takeaways
from this passage of scripture.
Our is that God designed humanity
for relationship.
God declared that it was not good for man to be alone, highlighting the fundamental
(06:30):
human need for companionship.
Whether in marriage, family,
friendships, or the church,
Relationships
are part of God's divine plan.
They offer support,
encouragement,
and opportunities
(06:50):
for love and service.
Isolation can lead to loneliness
and a lack of fulfillment,
but
God provides relationships to enrich our lives.
By embracing the connections God gives us,
we reflect
his relational
(07:11):
nature. Our next takeaway was that Eve was created
as a suitable helper.
The word helper does not imply subservience,
but rather a complimentary partnership.
Eve
was uniquely designed to be a counterpart to Adam,
sharing in his purpose and his calling.
(07:34):
God intentionally made man and woman
different
yet equal,
each with their own distinct strengths that contribute
to a thriving relationship.
A biblical partnership
reflects teamwork,
where both individuals bring their God given gifts to fulfill his purpose.
(07:58):
When we view relationships
in this way,
we honor God's
original design.
Our next takeaway is that marriage
is a divine institution.
The union of Adam and Eve
set the precedent
for marriage
as a sacred covenant between a man and a woman.
(08:23):
Marriage is not merely a social contract,
but a spiritual bond reflects God's commitment
to his people.
In a healthy marriage,
love, respect, and selflessness
are at the core,
aligning with God's design.
This principle reminds us that strong marriages
(08:44):
require
intentional effort,
trust, and faithfulness.
Honoring marriage as God intended leads to deeper joy
and stability in relationships.
Our final takeaway is that unity in marriage mirrors God's relationship
with his people.
(09:07):
The phrase one flesh signifies deep unity and oneness in marriage,
pointing to a greater spiritual truth.
Just as Christ and the church are united in love and purpose,
so should a husband and wife be.
This unity is not just physical, but emotional and spiritual,
requiring commitment
(09:29):
and growth.
A strong marriage
reflects God's love to the world
and serves as a testimony
of his faithfulness.
By prioritizing
unity,
couples can build a relationship that glorifies God
and withstands challenges.
(09:53):
Eve's creation teaches us about the importance
of companionship in God's design.
In today's world where independence is often celebrated,
we must remember that God created us for relationships.
Whether in marriage,
friendships,
or community,
we thrive
(10:14):
when we live in connection with others.
This passage of scripture
reaffirms
the value of women in God's plan.
Eve was created with purpose, dignity, and equality.
Throughout scripture,
we see God using both men and women to accomplish his divine purposes,
(10:37):
reminding us
that all are valuable
in his sight.
Marriage is depicted here is
more than a social contract.
It is a sacred bond.
This understanding helps us to approach relationships with reverence,
(10:57):
with love, and with commitment.
It challenges us to build relationships
based on mutual respect,
selflessness,
and God's guidance.
Moreover,
Eve's role
foreshadows
the church's role as the bride of Christ.
(11:19):
Just as Eve
was made for Adam,
the church
is made for Christ
to walk in unity,
love,
and faithfulness.
This encourages us to deepen our relationship with God,
understanding that he desires closeness
with his people.
(11:43):
Let's close out our study of the word
with a word of prayer.
Heavenly father,
thank you for revealing your wisdom and love through the creation of woman.
Help us to honor your design in our relationships
and to reflect your unity in our lives.
(12:03):
Teach us to walk in love, respect, and partnership,
always seeking to glorify you.
May our relationships mirror your perfect plan,
and may we grow deeper in communion with you each day.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.

Here at Bible Bytes,
we operate our podcast under
(12:51):
what's known as the value for value model.
The the hope is that with the work we do each week,
we are providing value to you,
and then you would then in turn
provide value back to us. And that can come in three different forms, and we refer to those as time, talent, or treasure.
(13:11):
Time is as
simple as listening to the show each week.
It could also be something as simple as taking the time to share the episode with someone else.
Talent would be offering to assist us in some way with the show,
be it to provide us with cover art images,
to provide us with ideas for topics or scriptures to look at and examine and use.
(13:36):
It could be
even taking the time to write out a lesson, a a topic, develop it, build a script for an episode of the show.
And more most importantly, the one that could be the most fulfilling for some folks
would be to step up and offer to actually take part in the show, to record with us and be a part
(13:57):
of an episode.
And then we have the form of treasure, and treasure by its name is typically considered something that is of financial value.
And there are ways that you can support us in that way.
One of those would be to listen in a modern podcast app. In a modern podcast app, you can connect a lightning wallet,
(14:18):
currently or there are other alternatives that are being worked on, and you can use that to then stream SAT Satoshis.
Very very small portions of Bitcoin,
to the to the show for what we do.
And you have control of what that amount is. You can stream 10 SATs a minute. You can stream 500 sats a minute. It's all up to you. It's your choice
(14:40):
on
the amount of value you feel that you've received.
In those modern podcast apps, you can also send us what's called a boost. A boost is a one time pledge of support in an amount of Satoshis
or a Boostogram.
And we did receive a Boostogram on our last episode.
One of my friends out there,
in the podcasting
(15:01):
two point o world and the value for value world, he goes under the the the name Salty Crayon.
Salty Crayon sent in a a 777
SAP boost to the show
through CurioCaster,
and he said,
I think I'll make these like my daily devotions. Thank you for that, Salty, and thank you for your support of the show. We appreciate it greatly.
(15:22):
That is just one example of someone sharing back value they received from the show.
You can also head to our website on our value for value for value page there. We have a widget embedded in the page where you can use PayPal to provide support to the show.
There with PayPal, you can do PayPal, Venmo,
a credit card, a debit card, however you choose to do that.
(15:46):
There are also links there to use Albi.
Albi is a lightning wallet provider. You can use Strike.
Strike allows you to connect your bank account.
You can then purchase
funds in Bitcoin,
use those.
And we also have links to a service called Auphonic, where you can provide support to us by purchasing one time credits on Auphonic that we then use to process audio and things on the show.
(16:11):
To learn more about value for value and the model and how we apply it on the show, you can head to our website and read up on it. You could do that at bible-bytes.com/v4v.
That's bible-byteswithay,bytes,.com/theletterv,thenumberfour,
(16:32):
andtheletterv.
We hope that if you have a prayer request for the show, you would head over to our website and fill out the prayer request form and send it to us, or send it to us through
a a Boostogram.
So providing us with some support and also sharing your prayer request.
As we head into prayer requests, I need to
(16:53):
address
why this episode
is late, and it is because
I do I do still need prayers. I've asked for prayers from you each week as we've done this show.
On Friday morning of last week, I
was preparing to go to work and
just something did not feel right.
(17:16):
After taking a shower, I got out of the shower and immediately
became sick,
became ill at my stomach,
and then,
immediately
text my boss at work,
my network engineer as well as another person
that I work with and let them know that I wasn't gonna be able to make it in, that I was gonna have to take that off. I'd also, you know, messaged and let my wife know before them as well,
(17:42):
and
sat down on my bed and immediately knew that
a fever was hitting.
I've become so in tune with the issues I have with my leg and the fluid retention,
the edema that goes on there, that
I knew
I knew what was gonna happen.
I filled the tank on my CPAP machine. I checked my temperature. At that time, it was one zero one 100.1,
(18:07):
so not technically a fever, but I knew it was coming.
I put my CPAP mask on, and I went back to bed.
I don't know that I left the bed for maybe a total of forty five minutes for the next
twenty four
hours or so. Slept through it,
worked it off that way,
(18:28):
had a rough day Saturday
dealing with the after effects of that,
and then
have been dealing with
some glucose issues,
since then with my blood sugar.
So there's some some things going
on, and and I really could use prayers, and I would appreciate if you could throw those my way.
(18:52):
Still continue to remember my parents,
our family friends, Greg and Kim, and the the sick the illnesses and things they're dealing with.
Remember,
a friend of mine who I've talked about before, who we used to work with, Jimmy Clayton. Jimmy has finished up his cancer treatments again,
is doing well, but I still wanna throw some prayers out there for him. He actually reached out to me today, and we're gonna sit down sometime in the next week, and he's looking to start a a podcast himself.
(19:22):
So he's he's called me to to help him look at that and develop some ideas.
So, I just wanna throw some prayers up for him because I know he's still healing and dealing with things. So I'm hoping that,
God continues to touch him and and bless him and help him.
But the biggest thing is
if you have an unspoken request, we wanna make sure we remember you as well as we do each week.
(19:44):
But feel please feel free to to reach out and send those requests into us because we would love to share them with the audience.
We're gonna go ahead at this time and
prepare to,
close out in prayer before we talk about what's coming up on the next episode of of Bible Bites.
(20:05):
Heavenly father, we close out this episode
by lifting up these
requests to you.
I know it seems
self serving
on my part to to
to make request of you for myself, but I do need your help. I need I need your help in the healing.
I need you to continue to to touch my parents,
(20:25):
help making sure my father is healed and the cancer is taken care of and that my mother continues to support him and help him and do what needs to be done. And most importantly, we get them hopefully back into church, into service.
Remember our friends Greg and Kim and the health issues, things they're dealing with, that you can touch them and help them. And
(20:45):
I hope that they might as well,
begin to attend church somewhere
and and make sure that they know your son, Jesus, as their savior.
And I want to throw up Jimmy Clayton
again. Jimmy is the most positive human being I've ever met in my life, but I know he still is healing and still needs some support.
And I hope that you can touch him and help him and can continue
(21:08):
to heal him and continue to touch him and bless him.
We work each week on this show to share your word, and we thank you for that opportunity
and hope that you can continue
to allow us to do so.
It is in the name of your son, Jesus, that we ask these things.
We pray.
Amen.
(21:30):
Our next episode is gonna take another look at Eve. We're gonna look at
the sin
and the lessons it shows us on temptation
and on consequences.
And the scripture we're gonna use for that comes from Genesis chapter three, that's gonna be verses one
through 19.
So come back for the next episode of Bible Bites, the podcast
(21:53):
where we work to inspire faith one bite at a time. Bible
bites.
Bible
bites.
Inspiring
faith one bite at a time.
With every verse,
(22:42):
As an added bonus to the end of this episode,
we're going to
have a track
from an artist in what we call the value verse.
So enjoy this track from Ben Dorfel
called
Tell Him.
(23:11):
Have you ever told God you don't hear him speaking?
Have you ever told him you don't know his voice?
Have you ever told him you don't believe in healing?
(23:35):
Have you ever told him
Have you ever told him you just can't see him moving
Have you ever told him all your doubts and fears?
Have you ever said I just don't think you're real?
(24:00):
Have you ever
told him?
Tell him now.
Tell him now.
Tell him now. Tell him all you're unbelieving. Tell him everything you're feeling. Tell him now. Tell him now.
(24:29):
Tell him all I want is Jesus.
He hears you if you tell him.
(24:51):
Have you ever told God you don't understand
the Bible?
Have you ever told Him of all your unbelief?
Have you ever told Him you don't know how to pray to
(25:15):
Him Have you ever told Him
Have you ever met
the person
of King Jesus
Have you ever asked Him to change just who you are?
Have you ever spoke the words, I love You, Jesus?
(25:40):
Have you ever told him?
Tell him now.
Tell him now.
Tell him all you're unbelieving.
Tell him
everything
(26:00):
you're feeling.
Tell him now.
Tell him now.
Tell him all I want is Jesus.
He is you, so tell him now.
Tell him now.
(26:23):
Tell him I'm sorry. I keep on singing.
Thank you, God.
You keep forgiving.
Tell him now.
Tell him now.
Tell him all I want is Jesus.
(26:43):
He hears you if you tell him.
