Host Randy Black guides us through John 21:4-11, where the disciples, returning to their familiar occupation of fishing, experience a miraculous catch of fish by following Jesus's command. This event not only reinforces the importance of recognizing Jesus in our daily lives but also highlights the abundant yet sustaining nature of God's blessings.

We reflect on four key takeaways from this scripture: obedience to Christ leads to abundance, the necessity of spiritual awareness, Jesus as our provider, and the sustaining nature of God's blessings. The episode encourages listeners to trust in God's guidance, recognize His presence, and embrace His provision. As we conclude our series on the miracles of Jesus, we prepare to embark on a new journey exploring the women of the Bible, starting with Eve's role in God's plan. We gather here today
with open hearts and
minds to grow in faith and
truth in every word we find.
The pages
of the word
alive and full of grace,
inspiring
faith within
as we seek his face.

(00:44):
Our way
to live our lives in his life and shine.
Welcome to Bible Bites, the podcast where we work to inspire faith one bite at a time. I'm your host, Randy
Black.
After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to his disciples many times

(01:06):
reinforcing
his teachings and prepping them for their mission.
One of these encounters occurred at the Sea Of Tiberias
where the disciples,
having returned to fishing,
experienced a miraculous catch of fish when they followed Jesus's command.
This event teaches us about obedience,
trust, and recognizing Jesus in our daily lives.

(01:30):
As we do with each episode, let's open up with a word of prayer.
Heavenly father,
we come before you with hearts open to your word. Just as you revealed yourself to the disciples at the Sea Of Tiberias,
reveal yourself
to us today through this lesson.
Teach us to trust in your guidance,
to listen to your voice, and to recognize your presence in our lives.

(01:54):
May we be faithful in obedience and diligent
in following you.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
John chapter 21 verses four through 11.

(02:15):
But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach, yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.
So Jesus said to them, children, you do not have any fish to eat, do you? They answered him, no.
And he said to them,
cast the net on the right hand side of the boat and you will find the fish.
So they cast it, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great quantity of fish.

(02:41):
Therefore, the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, it is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment and threw himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about 200 cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.

(03:03):
So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire already made and fish placed on it in bread.
Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish which you have now caught.
So Simon Peter went up and hauled the net to lamb, full of large fish, 153.
And although there were so many, the net was not torn.

(03:30):
This passage takes place
after Jesus' resurrection
at a time when the disciples were unsure of their next steps.
They had returned to fishing, a
familiar occupation, but they toiled all night without success.
At dawn,
Jesus appeared on the shore,
though they did not recognize him at

(03:52):
He instructed them to cast their net on the right hand side of the boat, and when they obeyed,
their net was filled beyond expectation.
The miraculous catch here mirrors an earlier event
recorded in Luke chapter five verses one through 11 where Jesus
called Peter and the other disciples to follow him.

(04:14):
In both instances,
their obedience led to an overwhelming
blessing.
This repetition
reinforces
the lesson that
success comes not from human effort alone,
but from following
Jesus's
direction.
John,
the disciple whom Jesus loved, was the to recognize the Lord.

(04:38):
His spiritual perception
enabled him to see what others had not yet realized.
Upon hearing John's declaration, Peter,
full of zeal as always,
immediately jumped into the water to reach Jesus as quickly as possible.
This contrast between John's recognition
and Peter's impulsive reaction

(04:58):
highlights the different ways believers respond
to Jesus' presence.
Jesus had already prepared a meal for them on the shore, demonstrating his provision
and his care.
Despite their efforts,
it was ultimately Christ who sustained them.
The number of fish, a 153,
has been widely discussed, but the key takeaway is that despite the large quantity,

(05:24):
the net did
not break.
This symbolizes how God's provision is abundant
yet sustaining,
reinforcing the idea that his blessings
do not overwhelm
but fulfill.
We have four key takeaways
from their scripture today. The is that obedience to Christ

(05:47):
leads to abundance.
The disciples had fished all night without catching anything,
yet when they followed Jesus's command,
they caught an overwhelming number of fish.
This teaches us that no matter how hard we work in our own strength,
true success comes
when we align ourselves with God's direction.

(06:09):
Obedience
does not always make sense from a human perspective,
but God sees the bigger picture.
When we trust in his guidance,
he blesses our efforts beyond what we could achieve on our own.
Just as the disciples experienced abundance after obeying Jesus,
we too can experience his provision when we submit

(06:31):
to his will.
Our takeaway is that spiritual perception is crucial.
John was the to recognize Jesus
even before anyone else understood
what was happening.
This highlights the importance of being spiritual spiritually aware

(06:51):
and discerning God's presence in our lives.
Sometimes,
Jesus is right in front of us, but our doubts,
distractions,
or expectations
keep us from recognizing him.
Cultivating a close relationship with Christ through prayer and scripture
helps us to

(07:12):
develop this awareness.
Like John,
we should strive to see God's hand at work
even in
the ordinary moments.
Our takeaway is that Jesus is our provider.
Before the disciples
even brought their fish to shore,

(07:34):
Jesus had already prepared a meal for them.
This illustrates that God knows our needs before we do,
and he provides in ways
we may not expect.
While
human effort is important,
it is ultimately God who sustains us.
Jesus' act of serving food to the disciples

(07:57):
also reflects
his love
and his care for us,
reminding us that he's not only our lord,
but also our provider
and sustainer.
We can trust him to meet our physical
and our spiritual needs.
Our last takeaway here is that God's blessings are abundant

(08:19):
yet sustaining.
Despite catching a 153
large fish,
the disciples' net
did not break.
This is a powerful symbol of how God's blessings are not meant to overwhelm us, but to equip and strengthen us.
Sometimes we we fear that receiving too much responsibility,

(08:42):
success,
or provision
will be more than we can handle.
However,
just as the net held firm,
God ensures that whatever he gives us
will not be too much for us to bear.
His blessings are designed to sustain
and to empower us for his purpose,

(09:03):
not
to burden us.
How often do we, like the disciples,
return to what is familiar when we face uncertainty?
After the resurrection,
the disciples had been called to spread the gospel,
yet they reverted to fishing.

(09:23):
This can mirror our own lives when we struggle to step forward
in faith.
Jesus met them in their familiar place,
much like the the way he meets us where we are.
However,
he did not leave them there.
He redirected them.

(09:43):
This teaches us that while teaches us that that while Jesus understands our struggles,
he also calls us to a greater purpose
beyond our comfort zones.
John's
recognition of Jesus
reminds us of the importance of spiritual awareness.

(10:03):
Do we take time to discern Christ's presence
in our daily lives?
Often we can be so focused
on our struggles
that we fail to see him standing
right before us,
guiding us to abundance.
Peter's response,
jumping into the water,

(10:25):
demonstrates a a deep love and eagerness
for Jesus.
Do we have the same enthusiasm to be near Christ?
Do we run to him in faith,
or do we hesitate?
Lastly,
Jesus' preparation of the meal signifies his care

(10:45):
for our needs.
Even before the disciples arrived,
he had already made provision.
This reassures us that God sees our needs
and meets them
in his perfect
timing.
Let's close out our study of the scripture

(11:06):
with a word of prayer.
Lord,
thank you for teaching us through this passage in the gospel of John.
Help us to recognize
your presence in our daily lives and and listen to you for guidance.
May we trust in your provision,

(11:27):
obey
your direction,
and seek you with eagerness
and with love.
Strengthen
our faith
and remind us that you are our provider.
As we go may we walk in obedience
and trust in your
perfect plan.

(11:49):
It is in the name of your son, Jesus, we pray.
Amen.

(12:13):
Here at Bible Bytes, we operate this podcast under what is called the
value for value model. And our hope is that we are providing value to you with the work we do we do each and every week by putting out our episodes,
and that you then would in turn provide value
back to us. And that can come in three different forms under this model. We refer to them as time, talent,

(12:36):
and treasure.
Time is as simple as taking the time to listen to our episode each week. You can also take the time to share it with someone else that you feel may
get something from it, or it may guide them
to to accept Jesus as their savior and become a Christian.

(12:56):
Talent would be offering to assist us in some way with the show. That could be by providing
ideas for,
for lessons, topics we can look at, scriptures we can look at. It could be helping us by designing cover art to use on our episodes.
And it could even be offering to
script out or write out an entire lesson to use on the show.

(13:17):
And the big one, and I hope someone someday may take us up on this offer, but offer to take part in the show to record and be on a broadcast.
Treasure,
by its name, implies it is something that
most likely is financial, and we do have costs associated with producing and running the show,

(13:38):
and you can assist us with those. If you're listening in a
modern podcast app,
I recommend currently Fountain because they have the easiest way to do this.
You can set up a wallet there, and it with that with other tools like Strike,
you can load that wallet up, and that wallet would then hold Satoshis. And Satoshis are

(13:58):
very, very small amounts of Bitcoin.
And you can choose to stream
Satoshi's two shows, two podcasts that support it as you listen to them. And then you have full control of that. If you wanna do 10
Satoshis, 10 sats a minute, you could do that. If You wanna do 500 sats a minute, you can do that. And that value goes directly to the podcast,

(14:20):
and it goes in a way that fits with the way they've designed their splits for their costs and things.
You can also send a boost. A boost is a one time pledge of support in an amount of Satoshis,
to a podcast through those apps, or a boost to gram, which is a boost that then has a message attached so you can give some encouragement.
And here on this show, we encourage you to to use that if you choose to provide us support, but also send prayer requests to us at the same exact time.

(14:48):
The other way you can do that is, heading over to our website. On our website, we have
a page there about value for value. And on that page, we have embedded a widget from PayPal that'll allow you to provide a pledge of support to us, one time, or you can make it reoccurring, ongoing,
through PayPal, through Venmo. You can use a credit card, a debit card, whatever,

(15:09):
you can do that. We also have links there for Albi,
and Strike. Both of those are means that you can provide support. Albi is,
geared at,
the the Bitcoin world and and the wallets and lightning wallets.
Strike does that, but Strike also can be linked to your bank, and you can pay,
into Strike directly from your bank to provide support as well. And we use a service called Auphonic, and we have a link there

(15:35):
where you can purchase one time credits on Auphonic,
for us to as as a way of giving us support and letting us,
continue to produce the show, in the way we do.
If you're interested in in learning more about the value for value model and how it is that we apply it to this show and use it, you can head over to our website and read up on it. You go to bible-bytes.com/v4v.

(16:02):
That's bible-byteswithay,bytes,.comslash,
and it's the letter v, the number four, and the letter v.
If you have a prayer request, we would hope that you would reach out to us and share it with us. We do that through a boostogram.
You can also do that through a contact form. We have a prayer request form on our website you can fill out and send that in. And the goal of that would be so that we can share it on the show so that we can, as an audience, work together to lift those prayers up to the Lord.

(16:36):
We have some prayer requests for this week. The same list we've had for a little while,
we'll continue to pray for my parents,
and the situation
there with my dad's cancer,
and the treatments,
being over, as far as we know. We'll find out in a couple months, where that stands.
Continue to remember our family friends, Greg and Kim, as they're going through the health things they have going on. Dad's cousin, Kevin,

(17:03):
and his rehab rehabilitation
from
the the loss of his toe and things going on there that he can
regain all, you know, most of what he had before, and he can get back to work, and he can continue to thrive.
Continue to,
remember me as well. I am,

(17:23):
this week, have started with a continuous glucose monitor.
It didn't start off great. The sensor that we put on failed,
and it is being replaced by the manufacturer. So that's that's a good thing, because it there it's not a it's not a cheap product. It was yeah. It was a nice little chunk of change for six of them for ninety days.

(17:43):
But, you know, I'm still going through the process. I'm learning how things are affecting me over the last couple days as I eat them,
as I drink them so I know
where I stand in that process.
And it's gonna be a learning curve, and, hopefully, it's gonna help me to get into
a better position,
with my health as I continue to work through these things.
As we do each week before we close out the show and talk about our

(18:07):
next episode,
let's take these requests to the Lord.
Heavenly father,
thank you one more time
for letting us come together and gather and share your word and learn from it. We have these requests.
We're throwing them to you, my parents, our friends Greg and Kim, Kevin, myself.

(18:28):
And also any unspoken requests that those who listen to the show might have that they haven't shared with us. You know those requests and you know those needs. And we have faith in you that you will provide an answer to them that fits within your will. And we may not understand that,
but we know that it is is it is within your will, and there's a greater purpose

(18:48):
for whatever decision
or whatever answer you give us to those prayers.
We want to thank you again to as we continue to work and thrive each week to share your word
with the world through this podcast. And then hopefully, someone will hear it
that
needs your son, Jesus, as their savior, and they accept him so they can then be saved and spend eternity in heaven with all the rest of us who are saved and with you and with your son. And it is in your son's name Jesus' name that we pray.

(19:20):
Amen.
So in the next episode of Bible Bites, we're actually starting a new series. We finished our series here on the miracles of Jesus, but we're gonna start a new series on women of the bible.
We're gonna do two or three episodes on each woman as we talk about them. I have a list of 20 so far, so this is gonna take us a little while to go through them.

(19:42):
But we're gonna start out with the woman. We're gonna start off with the creation of woman
and look at Eve's role
in God's plan. If you wanna read the scripture for that ahead of time, head back to the book of Genesis
chapter two
verses 18 through 25.
So join us on the next episode of Bible Bites, the podcast

(20:04):
where we work to inspire faith
one bite at a time.
Bible
bites.
