APRIL 19 - No One Seeks God?

3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 14:22; Psalms 14, 53; Romans 3

________________________________________

“Do they not go astray who devise evil? Those who devise good meet steadfast love and faithfulness.” —Proverbs 14:22

“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.” —Psalm 14:1

“None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.” —Romans 3:10–11

Have you ever felt like you just couldn’t get it right—like no matter how hard you try, you mess up again? Maybe you’ve looked around at the world and thought, “Why does it feel like people are drifting further from God?”

In Romans 3, Paul reminds us that this struggle is real—not just for some people, but for everyone. In fact, Psalm 14 and Psalm 53 say that no one naturally does good on their own. That sounds kind of heavy, but it’s not the end of the story. God knows we fall short—and that’s exactly why He sent Jesus.

THINK ABOUT IT

1. The Truth About Us: According to Romans 3, every human heart has a problem—we all fall short of God’s perfect standard. This isn’t to make us feel hopeless but to help us realize that we need God's grace. Are you aware of your need for Him?

2. A Fool’s Mistake: Both Psalm 14 and Psalm 53 describe the person who says in their heart, “There is no God,” as a fool—not because they’re unintelligent, but because they ignore the One who gives life meaning. Have you ever lived like God wasn’t there, even when you believe He is?

3. Choosing Good on Purpose: Proverbs 14:22 points out that doing good isn’t automatic—it’s intentional. When you choose what’s right, you align with God’s love and faithfulness. What are some small but meaningful ways you can choose good today?

BOTTOM LINE

We all fall short, but that doesn’t mean we’re without hope. God sees our brokenness and sent Jesus so that we could be made right with Him—not by trying harder, but by trusting in Him. When we admit our need for God and follow His lead, He shapes our hearts to seek good and reflect His love.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving me even when I fall short. I confess that I don’t always seek You or choose what’s right. Help me to see my need for You and to trust in Your grace more than my own efforts. Teach me to do good on purpose, to live wisely, and to follow You daily. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
