JULY 1 - Friends, Forgotten, and Favored
3-Year-Bible Reading: Proverbs 19:7; Luke 1

“All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.” — Proverbs 19:7
“For he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.” — Luke 1:48–49

Have you ever felt invisible—like people only notice you when they need something, but forget you the rest of the time? Maybe you've experienced what Proverbs 19:7 talks about: people pulling away when you're struggling, or feeling abandoned by the very ones you trusted. That hurts. But the amazing thing is, God sees those who are overlooked.
In Luke 1, Mary wasn’t rich or famous. She was a young, humble girl in a small town. But God saw her, chose her, and lifted her up. Her response wasn’t pride—it was praise. God didn’t choose Mary because she was perfect, but because she was willing. That same God sees you, too—right where you are, whether you feel forgotten or favored.

THINK ABOUT IT
1. When Friends Disappear: Have you ever felt like people avoided you when you were going through something hard? What did that feel like, and how did you respond?
2. God Notices the Overlooked: Mary wasn’t the most “important” person by the world’s standards, but God noticed her. What might it look like for you to trust God even when others don’t see your value?
3. Your Praise Is Powerful: Mary responded to God’s favor with worship, not worry. How can you develop a heart like Mary’s—a heart that praises even when things don’t make sense?

BOTTOM LINE
Even when people walk away or overlook you, God never does. He sees you, chooses you, and wants to use you for His purpose—just like He did with Mary.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing me even when others don’t. Help me to trust that Your plan for me is good, even when I feel forgotten. Teach me to respond like Mary—with faith, obedience, and praise. Remind me that my worth comes from You, not from the approval of others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
