(00:00):
Chapter three, verses one andtwo.
Behold, what manner of love theFather hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called thesons of God.
Therefore the world knoweth usnot, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons ofGod, and it doeth not yet appear
what we shall be, but we knowthat when he shall appear, we

(00:20):
shall be like him, for we shallsee him as he is.
It is a privilege to beacknowledged as.
And to be a son of God.
Now it is not clear to the nakedeyes what our glorified bodies
will look like, but we know thatwe shall look just like Jesus.
And we are unable as of yet tosee Jesus in his full glory due

(00:42):
to the fleshly house or bodythat we now live in.
But the day is coming when thismodel shall put on immortality.
And when this occurs, we shallsee him as he is.
All right.
Verses three through eight.
And every man that had this hopein him purified himself, even as

(01:02):
he is pure.
Whosoever committed sintransgressed against the law,
for sin is the transgression ofthe law.
And ye know that he wasmanifested to take away our
sins, and in him is no sin.
Whosoever abided in him sinnednot, whosoever sinned had not
seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no mandeceive you.

(01:22):
He that doeth righteousness isrighteous, even as he is
righteous.
He that committed sin is of thedevil, for the devil sinned from
the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of Godwas manifested, that he might
destroy the works of the devil.
This is the great incentive forliving holy.
Jesus, the King of Kings, iscoming and we shall be just like

(01:46):
him.
And everyone who has this hopebecomes more and more like him
each day.
Then he shows the differencebetween believers and the
unsaved, or the unbelievers.
The believers do not practicesin and the world does.
Jesus says this to the religiousleaders in John's Gospel 8 and
verse 44.
Ye are of your father.

(02:11):
It's just that simple.
If your father is the devil, youwill act like him.
If the heavenly father is yourfather, you will act like him.
Then he gives the good news.
Jesus was manifested that hemight destroy the works of the
devil.
Alright, verse number 9.
Whosoever is born of God, do itnot commit sin.

(02:32):
For his seed remaineth in him,and he cannot sin, because he is
born of God.
Now, John is simply saying againthat everyone who is born of God
does not practice sin.
Why?
Because we have the nature ofGod which does not allow us to
live continually in sin.
John is not saying that abeliever will never sin.
He is just simply saying thatthe born again believer does not

(02:55):
practice sin.
Chapter 2 in verse 1 makes, thatvery clear.
Alright, let's look at, verses10 through 18.
In this the children of God aremanifest, and the children of
the devil.
Whosoever doeth notrighteousness is not of God,
neither he that loveth not hisbrother.
For this Is the message that heheard from the beginning that we
should love one another.

(03:17):
Not as Cain, who was of thatwicked one, and slew his
brother.
And wherefore slew he him?
Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Marvel not, my brethren, if theworld hate you.
We know that we have passed fromdeath unto life because we love
the brethren.
He that loved not his brotherabided in debt.
Whosoever hated his brother is amurderer, and ye know that no

(03:40):
murderer hath eternal lifeabiding in him.
Hereby perceive we the love ofGod, because he laid down his
life for us, and we ought to laydown our lives for the Lord.
the brethren.
But whoso had this world's good, and seeth his brother hath need,
and shutteth up his bowels ofcompassion from him, how
dwelleth the love of God in him?

(04:02):
My little children, let us notlove in word, neither in tongue,
but in deed and in truth.
Now, this is how to recognizebelievers and unbelievers.
A believer practicesrighteousness and loves like God
loves.
The unbeliever practice sin andhate righteousness.
Then he issued out some strongwords.
He says that whosoever hates hisbrother is a murderer and that

(04:24):
no murderer has eternal lifeabided in him.
He gives us an example of this.
Abel was a believer and Cain anunbeliever.
Cain hated righteousness andthus killed his brother Abel.
Then he says, just like Jesuslaid down his life for us, we
ought to lay down our lives forthe brethren.
In other words, we ought to lovelike God loves.
we are not to love in word only, but in deed and in truth.

(04:47):
We ought to be there for eachother, financially as well as
spiritually.
If A brother or sister is inneed and you have the means to
help them by all means help themwhen you manifest your love
toward a brother or sister, itis to be done in truth.
Now, what does it mean to lovein truth?
Paul says this, let love bewithout dissimilation.

(05:10):
In other words, let your love bewithout hypocrisy.
We must love in action and notin word only, and it must be
done in truth.
In other words, be real.
with your love.
All right.
Verses 19 through 24.
And hereby we know that we areof the truth and shall assure
our hearts before him.
For if our heart condemn us, Godis greater than our heart and

(05:33):
know it all things.
Beloved, if our heart condemn usnot, then have we confidence
toward God and whatsoever weask.
We receive of him because wekeep his commandments and do
those things that are pleasingin his sight.
And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the
name of his son Jesus Christ andlove one another as he gave us

(05:54):
commandment.
And he that keepeth hiscommandments dwelleth in him and
he in him.
And hereby we know that heabided in us by the spirit which
he hath given us.
Listen, everything hinges onlove.
Now abides these three, faith, hope, and charity.
The greatest of these three islove.

(06:14):
When we love like God loves, itis impossible for our heart to
condemn us.
And we have complete confidencewhen we come before the throne
of God.
When we love like God loves, weare in complete alignment to the
will of God.
When this takes place, whateverwe Ask the Father we will
receive.
Why?
Because we are walking in Hiswill.
Anything we ask in accordance toHis will, He hears and answers.

(06:38):
Now, here are the twocommandments that, if kept, will
cause us to receive from God.
Number one, believe in the nameof His Son, Jesus Christ.
Note the word in.
Psalms 124 and verse 8 reads,Our help is in the name of the
Lord.
It means that our help is in thelove, the mercy and power which

(07:01):
have been revealed to us as thenature and character of God.
It means to believe in thenature and character of Jesus
Christ.
and one of the things God is, islove.
Number two, we must love God.
One another with the sameselfless, sacrificial, forgiving
look beyond all false love thatJesus loves us with.

(07:22):
Our lives depend on the rightbelief and conduct.
We cannot begin the Christianlife until we accept Jesus
Christ for what He is.
We have not accepted Himcompletely until our attitude
toward others are the same asJesus Christ's attitude is
toward us.
He who keeps these twocommandments dwells in God and

(07:44):
God in him.
He goes on to say that Goddwells in us by his Spirit.
Listen, if any man hath not theSpirit of Christ, he is none of
his.
The mark of a child of God isthe indwelling of the Holy
Spirit.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
