This is a spotlight on the Scripture, Matthew 3:2 “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Let's break down these expressions: "Repent ye," "the kingdom of heaven," and "is at hand." They are important.

1.       Repent ye" means to change your mind and turn around. It's a call for God's people to return to Him when they become distant or indifferent. For those who don't know Jesus, believing in Him involves repentance, as turning to Christ means turning away from other things. So, repentance is part of believing in Jesus.

2.       "The kingdom of heaven" refers to God's rule over the earth. Jesus is the King, and you can't have a kingdom without a king. When John the Baptist said "The kingdom of heaven is at hand," he meant that the kingdom was present because Jesus (the King) was there.

3.       "Is at hand" means that the kingdom was present at that moment with Jesus' arrival. Today, those who accept Jesus as their Savior are part of His kingdom, and they have a special relationship with Him. They obey Him out of love, not just duty.

Currently, Christ is not ruling over the entire world, but He is reigning in the hearts of those who believe in Him. He will eventually return to establish His kingdom on earth and end all rebellion.
