(00:06):
Hello and welcome to Big Gay Energy.
I'm Caitlin. And I'm Fiora.
Come along with us while we diveinto the fun and nuances of
queer media. Representation matters, and
we're. Here to talk about it.
Dears, queers, what's on the bigagenda today?
Theora today. We are hopefully concluding our
(00:28):
scene by scene breakdown of Pluto episode 2.
This episode was a lot. This show's gonna be a lot.
Yeah, buckle up, buttercup, buckle up.
And as we mentioned in our last episode, if you made it towards
the end, we'll be giving away merch to whoever can guess how
(00:49):
many pages our notes are at the end of Pluto.
So submit your guesses now. Later hit us up on social media
at Big Energy Pod at everything with your guess of how long are
our show notes for Pluto 'cause we keep it all in the same dock
if you're new here. So whoever's closest or nails it
will get some free merch for us.So.
(01:09):
Also, if you do not watch Blank and Cuz, we did the same thing
over there. We did.
And we let you know some more details about our notes.
We do have some screenshots in here as well, so factor that in.
Yeah, but I'm not gonna give you, I'm not gonna let you know
how long our notes are now, because someone really did
(01:30):
calculate it based on our time, and they do exactly what I do
when I figure out how many partswe need for an.
Episode. So I was very impressed.
I'm glad that it was accurate. They math.
They math their way to the win. Also the merch is our merch, not
the Pluto merch giveaway. Correct.
Big energy merch? Yes, Yes.
(01:52):
Any Any design you get to pick ashirt, any design you want.
Yeah, exactly. So that'll be ongoing.
So you let us know how long you think our notes are going to be
again, you have until we conclude Pluto the actual we.
Don't know when it's gonna end TBD because we don't know how
many episodes it's gonna be. TBD, we'll keep bringing this up
(02:14):
and just another really quick announcement that's Pluto
related. Because this is such an epic
saga of us filming with our actual lives outside of the
podcast and stuff. There are gonna be some weeks
where we won't be releasing a Pluto episode and instead we'll
be releasing an episode that something else.
And that is purely because of scheduling because we have
(02:36):
vacations and stuff going on. So just so you know, there will
be interruptions. It'll be 1 episode one week and
then we'll go right back to Pluto.
So just so you're aware, we didn't stop randomly doing it.
So like after this episode, nextweek there's going to be an
episode that's not about Pluto, but then the week after that
we'll go right back to Pluto. So just so you're aware that
it's going to happen and that just has to do with scheduling
(02:59):
and how long these episodes obviously take to film and edit,
all that kind of stuff, so. It's literally impossible to not
have that break. It's literally impossible.
So I'm just we're just letting you know that's going to happen.
We are going to complete Pluto, but there might be a week where
it's something else and then we go right back to Pluto.
So just so that you're aware, that will be happening
particularly right after this episode, so.
(03:22):
We are committed to the shows wecover.
We never stop midway. Yeah, in reality, this will take
us like 6 months to cover like half a year of just doing Pluto.
At least. At least, so when we ask you
guys, what do you want us to cover in a scene by scene
breakdown format, just half the year, we're going to spend just
doing the one thing. So just so you're aware.
(03:44):
Yes. All right.
All right, let's get into the final part.
Let's do it. Episode 2 I feel like I have to
sneeze. We'll see if that happens or
not. Title of the show.
Anyway, I have. To.
Sneeze. OK, so we have arrived at Mae's
(04:06):
and I is saying goodbye to Mae on her motorcycle.
Girl in front of the maid who can see you.
I like so bad at this. But also like, you don't have to
see to be able to know that there's not a door and a window
(04:26):
in between you talking to someone else like May.
May is fully aware that this is a motorcycle or a motorbike.
I don't know. It's not a car.
It's like, yeah, it's not a car.And so as the good gentlewoman
she is like I is dropping May off at home.
She didn't just have the taxi drop her off and then, well,
(04:47):
obviously her motorcycle's here,but.
Yeah, she had to get the bike, but still.
Still. She's the gentlewoman and may
ask I if she's going to come in,but I uses the excuse that it's
late. OK, I.
OK. OK and Mae is like well if I
(05:07):
don't get you the rest of the night I am at least going to get
you close to me and she puts outher arms as wide as possible so
I would get the hint and hug her.
However, once again I proceed tojust.
Stare at her. Not say anything and they have
(05:27):
to ask if she's going to hug her.
She's like, all right, you goingto hug me?
Yeah. No, I'm I'm here.
Don't let me. It's like the going in for a
high 5 and like they just leave you hanging.
Like literally. All right, I guess I'm hugging
myself. Right, aye, girl.
But OK, so again, she's she's learned nothing today when it
(05:48):
comes to you have to say shit because she's blind eye, but to
let her know that you're there. But let us all recall where I is
coming from in this scene. So she just came off the cusp of
basically being resigned to the fact that she has to tell May
the truth about UMM and that shebelieves that May is going to
(06:12):
react very poorly to that because she is not UMM and she's
not going to be forgiven for this.
She's going to come out looking like the bad guy, become the
Pluto. So I's heart's breaking.
And you can tell by looking at her when she's looking at May,
she looks like she's on the verge of crying right then and
there because I think her heart is actively breaking right now.
(06:34):
And the hug is tempting because I, I think, is also torn between
what she wants, which is to staywith May, which would be the
selfish thing to do because that's what I does without
thinking of anybody else, versuswhat she should do, which is the
selfless thing, which is to walkaway from this.
Tell me the truth, break things off now.
(06:58):
That's the right thing to do, right?
The selfless thing to do. So she's like a bat that war is
waging on her face in this, in this moment when I Mae's just
like hug me, love me. And I was like, I want to but
everything, everything. And because of these conflicting
thoughts in her head, she tells Mae that she shouldn't hug her
because she won't want to go home.
(07:21):
And of course, Mae's like, then don't.
That's exactly what I want. I don't want you to go home,
move in. Because who would want her to
leave? Seriously, she's like, you
parked that motorcycle here. I don't give a fuck girl my last
name or yours. What do you want to do?
She's like, what? Hyphen.
Ivan. But I so overwhelmed with these
(07:46):
thoughts and everything going onand she's just seems convinced
that May wouldn't like her if she really knew who she was.
Because right now she is seeing that this love is for OOM.
Because that's what May keep saying.
I know it's the language saying OOM because it's intimate, but
again, it's just reiterating thefact that it's for OOM, so how
(08:09):
could it ever be for I? But again, I if you, if only you
knew she, she definitely would like this.
It's all you, babe. Yeah.
And so then when I says basically like if I hug you I
won't want to leave, that is 100% an admission from I.
This is not an OOM thing. This is an I thing.
(08:30):
It may knows that this is an admission from I and not part of
the OOM game. Because Mae's reaction is a
humongous smile. Because Mae's mission since the
beginning has been to figure outhow I feels about her because
she cannot get the full picture because she can't see I.
(08:52):
And then I is quiet sometimes. And so like Mae really is
literally in the dark sometimes about what I is feeling.
So for I to admit things like this, and if you listen to her
voice, it's like full of emotions.
So I think May is like excellent.
I, I get the sense that I is into me and things are pointing
(09:13):
towards our feelings are mutual. So this is a win for May.
So that's why she smiles, even though Isaac, I can't come
inside because to come inside means I'll never leave you.
And May is like excellent. We're on the same page.
So that's a win for. Her it gives her the with
permission to keep this going. Like OK.
Yeah. She's like I, I have you right
(09:34):
where I want. You something's working.
Exactly. This is all according to plan.
All according to plan, right? What if I told you I'm a
mastermind? Yeah, no, Mae is a mastermind.
She is, and I is just fucking clueless.
So. But I doesn't know any of this.
So I ultimately chooses the selfless path, which is to just
walk away from this because she knows if she gives into what she
(09:57):
wants, which is to stay with May, then it's going to hurt her
and may even more when she inevitably when it inevitably
not when she when it inevitably comes out that the truth of all
the umm stuff, OK, she's like, this is going to hurt everybody
even more. And if you notice, her decision
is already written in her body language because when they cut
(10:18):
back to her on the motorbike, her pot, her body positioning
has completely changed from the first time we see her on the
motorbike. She's like leaning away from
May. Like you can see she's shifted
because she's like I have to putdistance physically between us
even more just by like leaning. Leaning is.
Leaning. Back her go to move lean.
(10:39):
Back, lean back. It's like when when the feelings
are there, trying to distance herself from those feelings, she
leans further away. We saw that when she was with
Mae, hand on thigh, hand on. Shoulder.
Oh my God, yeah like literally Nam Tam does a good job of
(11:00):
showing us what AI is feeling byjust using her body.
She's a full body actor. She shows you with her body what
the character is thinking and the decisions they're already
making. Before they didn't say anything
which is apartment for I as the.Character like the performance
1000 times better. Yes, ma'am.
Good job. She deserves a lot in this
Episode 1 scene in particular. We'll get there.
(11:22):
And these episodes 10 times longer.
Yes, because we're going to break down the body movement.
Everybody in G head for us. It's everybody on GMMT VS fault
for being so goddamn good at their jobs.
That's why these are taking so long, because there's so much to
appreciate. So let's appreciate it some
more. Let's do it.
I tells Mae that she brought herenough trouble today, which is
(11:45):
why she is trying to leave so quickly because again, that
guilt is there. This just happened today.
I know you've been talking aboutthis for hours, but this was.
One day a. Couple hours ago.
Remember, do you remember what happened at the beginning of the
day? Tan showed up.
This is all one day and then I. Oh my gosh, yeah, we have to
(12:07):
remind you. For us, we are.
Coming. This is a little wild day this.
Is one day. It's been a very long day.
What is the timeline right now? Like how long have I and May
been together? All day, literally like all but.
No, no, no, like. Since the very beginning.
It's probably a first week. It can't be that long.
(12:28):
It's gonna be like a week at most.
Timelines are weird man. Anyway so I is a 1000% still
feeling guilty that May was leftalone and could have been hit by
a car. Again wasn't your fault but it's
because of the messiness of the situation and from what I knows
(12:50):
she's the one coming into May's life and deceiving her.
So like it's her fault for beingthe reason why it's going to
fall apart and May May's life being unhappy.
And to that point May tells her she made her happy.
And at first I looked at May in disbelief and she's probably
(13:19):
wondering how May could think and say that because again,
she's she that scared look and the screams that May.
So like when May was disorientedand calling out OOM, like that's
what's sticking in her head. So like, how is May telling her
(13:41):
that she's making her happy and giving her this praise when all
this happened today. But for May, it's like, Oh, I
finally have what I've been looking for.
We were just shared this something so beautiful in the
planetarium. But for I, she's just so focused
on being the cause of pain. That and I think that I is so
(14:05):
deep in her feelings right now about all of the everything you
just said that she doesn't clockwhat May is actually doing this
scene. So what May is actually doing is
she is unconditionally forgivingI for everything that happened,
which is exactly what May did with Boom right where she's like
(14:28):
you told me to fuck off and thenwhen I saw you again, everything
was forgiven because you can do no wrong to me.
She told that to I and I was like wow, she must really love
UMM the way she like just forgives her even though UMM did
horrible things. May is doing that right now.
She's like, I, I know things didn't go according to plan, but
like I said, you're Neptune basically, you're a cat, climate
(14:49):
catastrophe and that's OK because life is good and bad.
And she's like, I just want to experience all the things with
you. So you're forgiven for
everything. It's fine.
Like that's really what she's saying.
She's saying I will forgive you no matter what because I love
you basically. And so I does not recognize that
that is what Mae is actually doing.
And she's showing I all the feelings that she, that I thinks
are for umm, she's doing it right here.
(15:12):
And so I don't think I recognizes this is where I'm
leaning. But if she did recognize that
May is like forgiving her unconditionally, I think I feels
that she doesn't deserve it because one, she's supposed to
be UMM, so she thinks it's for UMM and not her.
And secondly, even if she felt like it was directed towards
(15:32):
her, I don't think I think she deserves it because she's never
had this kind of love unconditionally from anybody
ever. So she doesn't recognize it and
doesn't know what to do with it.She doesn't feel like she
deserves it because right now she feels like she's a terrible
person, right? For everything that happened
today and the fact that she's still deceiving me.
So she's like, I don't deserve this pure love coming from you
(15:56):
at all. Like I don't think she feels
worthy of it is the other thing.Yeah, I we see all of that going
through eyes, head again. Nam Tam, the full body actor,
she does this thing where she just leans back again and kind
of rolls her eyes. And I say that and rolling her
(16:16):
eye, like rolling your eyes is seem like as something that
you're like annoyed. But she's doing this.
It seems like she's doing this to hold back her tears.
Yeah. Because you also do that when
you just like, don't want to letthe tears fall.
And it's so heartbreaking because like, first of all, she
(16:37):
needs to be told she makes people happy.
She because she doesn't know that like she, you are the
source of happiness in people's lives.
You don't cause issues. And it also means that she
probably doesn't think that she could make people happy.
(16:57):
And especially May like, how canshe fill Umm's shoes of the
person that May seems to love somuch?
Like, yeah, that she's not valuing herself.
I agree she doesn't have the self-confidence when it comes in
this area because nothing in herlife has ever told her that
(17:19):
she's worthy of it ever. In fact, the opposite is
constantly reinforced and we'll get into that in the next
episode, that the next episode is the episode where I fell in
love with the eye because like, God damn, the way she's just
like sidelined constantly in herown life.
Like so it's like here, it's like it's so tempting for her to
be like, I could just hug her and then just accept all that
(17:41):
love that she's offering me. But I knows it's not for her.
And then she's like, nobody everreally wants me and, and it's
not for me and I can't fool myself into thinking it's for
me. It's just so sad.
I'm so heartbreaking as a character sometimes because
like, she deserves love and justdoesn't feel like she does
(18:02):
because like, nothing in her life has ever told her that
she's capable of getting it. And it's so sad.
I mean, human nature is to like, want to be loved, and her whole
life she does not feel like that.
And she finally has the source of feeling loved, of being seen.
And she's she feels it's slipping away and she has to let
(18:25):
it slip away. She's accepted that she has to
let it slip away. And that's why those tears are
threatening to fall. Yeah, it's just like it's
actively breaking her heart. It's really sad and.
We like you can fully tell with the acting that we're witnessing
this breaking of the heart. There's also a lot of staring
(18:49):
going on in the scene because somuch staring.
I mean, it's not it's not unusual for I, as we've said,
but she really does a lot of staring because like a lot of
it's internal processing. It's not she's not going to
verbalize it. This is when she's having like
big emotions like this. It's it's not that like no
(19:10):
filter thing where whatever's going through her head, she just
says that's more like when she'strying to figure stuff out, like
curious about something that it just comes right out.
But when it's feelings, she doesn't understand feelings as
much. So it's really a big internal
(19:31):
combat, just like trying to figure out what is Yeah battle,
what's actually going on, because she doesn't even have
words to verbalize what she's feeling.
And but she doesn't. May is so patient to be willing
to stand there without knowing what is going on and just giving
(19:52):
AI that space to react how she needs to and speak when she
wants. Like she's not pushing her into
doing anything she's just there and letting them live in this
moment. Cause also part of May is like
she needs to calculate like whatshe actually can do to not.
(20:14):
Scare off I cause like if she does say the one wrong thing, I
could flee. And yeah, that that's terrifying
for May. So right now, they're both
scared. Yes, I.
May is May is like love is just, she's like, oh, OK, well, she
does want to stay, but there's always again, that's there's
(20:35):
that fear of the abandonment. So I ends up saying thank you.
And then she rides off into the night on the damn motorcycle
that you can definitely hear is motorcycle. 100%.
But of course Mae does not reactto this because she knows it's
I, but I conveniently doesn't think about that.
(20:56):
Listen, I does not think througha lot of what she's doing.
And we've said that a million times.
And like, this is the most evidential thing ever.
Because if Mae was even curious about this, all she has to do is
turn to the maid and be like, was that a motorcycle?
She was right. And they used to be like, yes,
because it's not OOM, it's obviously not OOM, but anyway.
(21:20):
See, that's why a part of me just kind of wants that
alternate universe like Short, where May doesn't actually know
that this is I, and I just want to see how that would play out
because it has to be ridiculous. It has to be this had to be.
I wouldn't. Know when she would figure it
out. I think it'd be really fast,
(21:40):
but. Especially with her lawyer mind.
Yes, exactly. I think she would have figured
it out, really, because I outs herself so many.
We're in episode 2 and she's already outing herself in so
many different ways, so whatever.
Would Pang figure it out if likeI and UMM switched and like UMM
were to like, pretend to be interested in paying to get like
information or something, Yes. Paying would yeah cuz paying is
(22:03):
into I not UMM. And then UMM cannot cosplay I
either because they don't have the same personality.
No, but we did. We did talk about how UMM would
be more like. Better at her disguise.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, let's go into it.
So and Pang being just so wanting I to like her, I feel
(22:27):
like that would cloud it. That's also true, the the
problem though is that UMM and Idon't know each other.
That is the main problem. So like either of them caught.
Like UMM would need Pang to helpher cosplay I.
So if she's going after Pang, nodice unless she goes to like
Kasol or something. One of the other friends,
(22:49):
because they don't know each other.
The two sisters, that is very evident in the way that AI is
trying to cosplay Umm. She really doesn't know her
sister. Or she teams up with Grandma,
even though Grandma doesn't really know what's going on
either. Yeah, you should have to.
But does grandma know I? Nobody knows I.
(23:10):
Like no, no one knows I. I is very much internal, yeah.
So she she would need Pang basically to pull it off.
But anyway, so back to the theseshenanigans.
So when I rides away instead of consulting with the maid,
because I I mean, Mae already knows what's going on.
Mae just kind of looks more she stares after I and she looks
(23:33):
really contemplative than anything else.
Like she's like mulling over what the fuck just happened.
Because to your point, like May got the confirmation that oh, I
wants eyes into me because she admitted that she wants to stay,
which means that she's into me. But then she still left.
So May's like what the fuck happened?
(23:54):
Like why is she so hot and cold in that conversation?
Like that was really weird what happened?
And like she can't see anything and I was quiet.
So she's like has to figure thisout.
Consult the maid girl. If you consulted the maid, the
maid would be like she looked like she was about to cry May
and like she's indie like you know what I mean.
(24:14):
This I'll be solved if we just talked to the maid who sees
everything. If this was an and then and
prick loyal pin situation. We would be consulting the maid
for sure and the maid would be meddling and it would be fucking
funny, but that's not where we're at.
Instead, we're just left here because your point Mae knows
that she can't push I too much so she's it's really hard for
(24:38):
her to calculate well. How do I actually navigate this?
Because I feel like there is a fine balance between her pushing
and being patient, like you said, and like she's not dealing
with the full picture of everything that's going on.
So which makes Mae's journey with all of this more remarkable
because she's doesn't have the full picture of everything, and
(24:59):
she still navigates it like a fucking pro, you know?
That's her brain. It's amazing.
She she is amazing. What's not amazing is that we
don't even get 5 seconds before Taan shows up again next to Mae,
and he really does always look so smug in this episode.
(25:22):
He does. My question is why the fuck is
he still here? Like he showed up in the morning
when she was in her nightgown, woke her up, was like, we need
to go to a doctor's appointment now it's night time.
He's still here. Why is he still?
Here he's like just treating it as if it's his home and like not
respectful of like, oh, she's not here.
(25:44):
I should probably go. Like I'm surprised he didn't try
to call me, you know what I mean?
Because Isaac, my phone hasn't gone.
What if she turned? It off.
What if she turned it off so he couldn't call her?
But like why didn't he try to call her and be like where the
fuck are you? And he realized she was missing
or did he just like not realize she was missing?
And I was like, oh shit, she wasgone the whole time.
I just sat down here waiting foryou know what I mean?
(26:06):
Like I. Thought she was in the bathroom
the whole time, right? Let's what?
Happened. Why was he turned on the TV and
then it got really absorbed intoa show?
Called, yeah, like something distracted him because I'm
really surprised he didn't try to call her and be like, where
are you? You know what I mean?
That's a good point. I just realized that when I was
(26:27):
watching this and I was like whyis he still here and why didn't?
He also why did he not contact? Her.
Yeah, because we see. He would try to go out and like.
Find her at least call her because we see flashbacks of
their relationship and stuff going forward where like they do
call each other so like to checkinsurance.
I'm really shocked he didn't call her.
(26:47):
It's weird. Or maybe he's like he knows her
well enough to be like she won'tanswer or like she's pissed at
me. Like maybe.
But like, that's even a stretch if she just like, straight up
disappeared, you know? Yeah.
It's weird. I just thought that was weird.
But anyway, here we are with smug ass tan.
(27:07):
So Mae tells Tan that he should go because she needs to think
and then dismisses the maid as well for a few days.
Like she's like, all right, packyour bags.
You can take a few days and Tom will drive you home.
And I love that she makes Tom drive her home.
(27:28):
Me too. Because it's probably the only
way she thought that he would actually leave.
Like, how can I get this dude toleave?
Because, you know, he's very stubborn and doing her dad's
bidding. So this is a way that he has to
leave So funny. And so if I was this maid, I
(27:50):
would be thinking I'm getting fired, right?
This was so. Weird this came out of nowhere,
that her love, the love of her life, drives off into this, the
nightfall, and she loses it and kicks.
Everyone else out this was wild.So Tan is rightfully confused by
(28:15):
all of this and asks Mae what she is planning to do, which is
a great question that she does not answer of.
Course not. And just walks away.
He doesn't even deserve an answer to be honest though, so
I'm glad she walked away from him.
But you know who does need an answer?
The maid. The maid does need to know.
What the hell I'm saying. Like what does a few days mean?
(28:39):
Like when? Do I come back?
Am I getting paid? Who's?
Who's going to do this? I I thought that too did.
You get caught by pay out of nowhere.
Yeah, like what the fuck? I wonder if like Mae does this
sometimes too and just like she seems like the type of person
would still pay. I feel.
Like she. Made a salaried, you know what I
mean? And she's like, you know, a few
(29:01):
days off and the maid's like fuck this shit on out.
But yeah. But yeah, her face does look
like in the episode. Like, I don't want to go a ton.
I'd rather risk my life driving a motorcycle I never driven
before. I know, why couldn't I have gone
with motorcycle girl? Who's not UMM, by the way?
(29:21):
Oh my gosh, could you imagine that it?
Would be so funny. OK.
Yeah, OK. But again.
I will say this until the end oftime which is when we will
probably finish covering Pluto. But this was a miscalculation on
Mays part because if she had debriefed with the maid before
(29:45):
the maid left, then may could have gotten valuable Intel about
what was going on with I. Because remember the reason why
Mays all like serious and like in her head right now is because
she doesn't understand what justhappened in this interaction.
Because I was like, yeah, I wantto stay with you but I'm not
going to goodbye. So Mae's like what the fuck
happened? It was it was going my way and
then it didn't like what happened.
So she talked to the maid for like 3 seconds.
(30:08):
The maid could have, I don't know, told you about the facial
expressions and the fact that umm whatever the cosplayer was
like crying almost and like staring at you longingly.
Like she could have told her things like paint the picture
that Mae can't see, you know what I mean?
Mae not being friends with the maid was a bad move because that
(30:28):
could have solved a lot of Mae'sproblems and helped her plan
better is all I'm saying. Because Mae's a smart woman and
like she didn't use her resources wisely, is what I'm
saying. And I did.
That's a good point. And I do wonder if this is just
subtle commentary on classism because Mae doesn't see the
(30:48):
quote, the help as people. You know what I mean?
It could be that that's true. Could be, could be.
I'm just saying, for all of her wisdom, this was a missed
opportunity for me. She's not a perfect person.
No one is. No one is.
Except no, maybe I. But you know what?
(31:09):
Maybe I'm just kidding. She's never done anything wrong
in her life except all those things she did wrong.
We're not going to talk about that anyway.
So interestingly, when Mae does turn to go back in the house,
she does so unassisted. So she gets out her walking
stick and she, like, guides herself past, on past the maid
(31:29):
into the house. And I wonder if that was kind of
like a way to show that Mae feels a little isolated after
her day with I and perhaps a little insecure because again,
she left the sanctity of her house where everything is a
world designed for her to exist in independently went out into
(31:50):
the real world, was smacked in the face with ableism.
And then I was hot and cold. And so I wonder if Mae just
feels like I can't trust anything right now.
I need to reset. I need to re establish that I am
in control to your point in the last episode.
So I think this is her first of like regaining control of things
by just like I'm going to guide myself in the house into my
(32:13):
room, take a shower, do whatever, and like recenter my
SO this is May's way of proving to herself I am a capable
person. I can do this, I'm in control,
that kind of thing. And just reminder that she's
able to take care of herself. She doesn't need that another
person there to help her. She just she wants I there.
(32:35):
She. Wants I and also she wants ton
to leave so like she's like nobody help me just get the fuck
out of my house. It'll also be it fuck out and
the maid's like I'm getting, I'mgetting paid right?
We're going to say that the maid's getting paid because I
refuse to believe May would not listen.
(32:56):
Make sure that happened. Agreed.
Yeah. Meanwhile, AI is writing in her
journal because she's having fields.
All the fields. Like capital letter fields.
All the way home. And she writes, I had been
deceiving May and I couldn't keep doing it anymore.
(33:16):
So seeing may have to deal with the world and seeing her in her
happy place and then having May tell her that she made her happy
that that's eyes breaking point because there's only so much
deception you can handle when you were falling for someone.
I assume I mean that I don't know from.
Experience. I don't know from experience,
(33:38):
but. It was getting too real for I.
It's getting too real and that line between I and UMM is
definitely washed away by the water in the ocean or whatever.
The line in the sand is gone, basically.
And what I think is really important to note from this
scene is that I is in her pajamas at her desk writing in
(34:00):
her journal. And what she is writing in the
journal are the exact phrases weheard when she was in the car in
the taxi ride home with May. So this is the first little clue
that the voice overs are indeed I's journal.
Like in case you forgot like these the journal, because it's
the exact same thing where she said I had been deceiving May
literally was exactly the voice over we heard in the in the car.
(34:25):
And also we get the cover of thethe journal as well.
And this matches the very opening scene of the show where
she was reading this exact same book to May on top of the
camper. So if you hadn't put that
together, this was GMMTV being like, this is what we're doing,
just so you know, just suddenly kind of letting you know this is
what we've been doing, sprinkling that info in for you.
(34:46):
They're like we trust you, but we're going to give you a little
bit more. To they do it again?
Yeah, they do it more explicitlywith the journal entries.
They'll be like in case you missed it these are ice fucking
journal entries and I missed it until I was re watching it this
time to do it for the show and Iwas like God damn it was the
journal entry the whole fucking time I missed it.
Because there's just so much to focus on.
(35:07):
So after as well. OK, after I closes her journal,
she starts to play with the ringon her finger.
Reminder the ring is Oom's ring from her relationship with May.
So a reminder of everything thatis going on right now.
(35:27):
So I assume she's thinking abouttoday how much she wishes this
ring was hers because again, it is not hers.
She is playing a role. And maybe she's also thinking a
little bit of what the hell was this relationship my sister had?
Because what the hell was this relationship they had?
(35:47):
How could you not be thinking that?
Because seriously what the fuck was it?
Because it just it comes off that UMM did not give a shit
about May at all because UMM wascheating on her with Paul and
everything she hears she hears she's like even when like you
wanted to go somewhere my sisterlike were fused to go places
with the like she kept it a secret.
Like it just comes off as a horrible girlfriend.
(36:10):
Like and I was like what the Also now that I'm what I'm
thinking about this, so rememberI got home changed.
She's in her pajamas getting ready for bed.
Why is she still wearing the ring?
Oh, she doesn't take that damn thing off again.
She's trying to pretend like it is hers she wants it to be.
Hers I know. She's the little fantasy of when
(36:32):
they're together, like, oh, we're married, we shall live
happily ever after. I mean, yeah.
Also, if we go with the fact that she never takes it off next
in this scene, I begrudgingly takes this ring off and just
stares at it while holding it and she apologizes.
(36:56):
To the soul of May. And says she thinks that May is
better off without Boom because she's apologizing to May.
But, you know, May can't hear it.
Yeah, but she says May is betteroff without UMM and I in her
life. Dang.
And I do love that she says bothof them same and not just her.
(37:17):
Like she could have been like you're better off without me you
you love UMM go with her. She also could have been petty
and been like you're way better off without UMM in your life.
Well, yes. But this is her being realistic,
and she's like you. Do not need any of us we're.
Messy. We're messy bitches right now.
This whole situation is messy. Yes.
(37:39):
Also like again, she's thinks her sister was willing to get
married while she was still withme.
I mean, it's still technically true.
Listen, that's the wild part about all of this.
It still doesn't make any goddamn sense.
It doesn't. It doesn't paint you in a good
picture room at all. That part of.
No, because like that one was full of you.
That was full of you just being you and that was weird, but OK.
(38:05):
So when it comes to this, I think everything you said is
valid. I think also what's going on
here is remember I is really grappling with that conversation
with Jan when Jan was like, you need to tell me the truth.
May deserves to know the truth about UMM, especially after all
this thing that all these conversations and actions to I
that reinforce that all this love May has is for UMM and May
(38:29):
is in the dark about Umm's critical health conditions.
So like keeping that for May is really up if you really think
that male Love's room, which that's a whole other story.
So like that kind of is fucked up that keep that information
from the devoted girlfriend anyway.
So I is like in this weird situation where she knows she's
(38:50):
caught between the right thing to do and what she wants to do.
And then this ring is like, as Imentioned earlier in other
episodes, not earlier today, butthe ring is the last piece of
the UMM disguise, like the physical piece of it.
OK. Because since the first episode
to the second episode, I very quickly shed the UMM disguise.
(39:10):
Like the when she first shows upto Umm's house, she didn't bring
her motorcycle. She wore Umm's clothing heels.
She doesn't know how to walk in and was like committed to the
bit, right? And then the second time she
goes over there, she said fuck the heels, but I'll still wear
Umm's clothes. She adds the ring the next time
she goes over. She rides her motorcycle.
(39:31):
Is it remember the glorious scene where she's putting on the
leather jacket or not the one the Jean jacket?
She's an I get up, but she's gotthe ring.
So the ring is the last actual tangible piece of the umm
disguise that I hold on to. OK, so other than this ring, I
has been I around May OK. And I think that taking off the
(39:56):
ring is AI's way of showing thatshe's made the decision not to
pretend to be OOM with me anymore.
And if you really watch her going forward, she doesn't
pretend to be OOM. She does the omission thing like
big numb where she's like, I'll let you think I'm OOM.
But all of her dialogue, her actions, they come from I like.
(40:20):
Going forward, I start just likegiving into the way I feels and
expressing it right back to me. Like you'll see it.
It's she doesn't do things like,well, I'm a flight attendant.
Obviously I don't like space because what a flight attendant,
you know what I mean? She doesn't like do that shit
anymore or she makes some excuses for umm.
She just is I going forward and I think that that's what taking
off the ring is really showing us that like the umm disguise is
(40:43):
gone. I is going to be I going forward
and yeah, I think that's what this is also showing us.
Like fuck that. Which you know, she's being true
to herself now, finally. For herself and for May.
(41:05):
So then May gets to see more of what?
More of I actually being I whichis important.
Yeah, also what May wants. That's what May wants.
I guess. May's like my master plan
worked. I came to this conclusion on her
own. And I slowly starts to sit back
(41:27):
after taking the ring off and her arms drag off the desk and
like they just stop at the edge. And this is really where
representing where we are right now.
Like she's on the edge, trying to figure out what to do.
And after a few seconds, it's like she gives up and she just
(41:49):
lets her hands drop on her lap. It's lifeless.
Like the there's so much weight on them that she can't even lift
it. I mean, the weight of the
situation is huge. I mean, again, this is a life of
deception right now, a relationship built on deception
because on both parts there is deception.
(42:10):
And like her arms, like the weight she has, the weight of
everything just weighing her down.
And it's exactly how she's feeling in this moment, the way
that she's just dropping. She just looks so lifeless and
defeated because this is I basically being like, I need to
(42:32):
come clean about being I and tell me the truth.
So she like removes the own disguise and it's like it's time
the truth has to come out. And she just looks so lost about
that because like, like you kindof said earlier in another
episode that like May changes I's life just as much that as I
(42:54):
changes May, right? The whole being becoming her
Pluto thing, like I forever is going to be changed by this,
whether May remembers her, puts her in the shadows or not.
Like, and it just must feel so defeated for I because she's
like, again, I have to go into the background because
somebody's choosing umm over me again.
(43:14):
And like this time she's like, Ihave to let I have to be the
catalyst for that to happen. That's the right thing to do.
So like, I just feel so bad for I because it's like this pattern
she's stuck in with people and relationships and just, she just
looks so defeated by it and I feel so bad for her.
She just needs a hug man. She does she needs a group hug
(43:36):
from everybody who actually loves her in life that she
doesn't realize. But I'm I'm about to read into
something that's probably not there.
But in this room where we see her look so lifeless, there's
only two light sources and everything is else is dark like
this is night time. And they're they're small lamps,
(43:57):
like small little light emitting.
And she is right in between that.
It's like she's caught between the two worlds and it's just
darkness. In between, that's how she
feels. She feels, you know, she's the
Pluto going into the shadows andlike, there's your light source.
There's like Mei and Umm and like they're like the, you know,
the stars get to shine bright, pour eyes just in the darkness.
(44:20):
I feel like that's how she's always felt ever since the the
rift happened with Umm when theywere, you know, at the funeral.
Yeah. It's really sad.
Well, yeah, this whole thing is sad.
I mean, yes, I'm. Not fun to be here.
No. Are you done all right?
(44:41):
Yes, I am done. OK.
Cool, So let's take a brief moment to talk about what eyes
wearing and I one piece of decorin eyes room that I want to
highlight that will give us somehope going going forward.
So let's talk about eyes pajamas.
So eyes pajamas I find really interesting.
So what she's wearing in this scene and what she'll be wearing
(45:02):
for quite some time. Many other scenes is these like
they're like long sleeve, kind of like button down shirt
pyjamas, but like 1/2 is black and then the other half is Gray.
So it's like split. So it reminded me a lot of that,
that bust, like that statue that's in Umm's room on the
(45:23):
bedside table where it's the theface that's half black, half
white. So it's kind of the same style,
right? So I was wondering if maybe we
get these pyjamas here as a way to show that this is like the
fracturing of I in a way, because she's caught in this
scene between how she feels likewhat she wants to do the self,
(45:46):
the selfish thing to do versus the selfless thing to do.
And so it's like this fracturing, right?
Of like what she feels on the inside versus what she's going
to have to do on the outside kind of thing.
And it's also could be representative of like eyes
being two people right now whereshe's got a cosplay, umm, for
May and, but then inside she's Iso she's got this split, not
(46:09):
split personality, but she's trying to like be two twins, you
know, put the twins together, but it's impossible for her to
do. And so she's really struggling
with that. So I, I just thought it was
interesting and it really reminded me of that bust that's
in Umm's room. Maybe she stole these from Oom.
Maybe she's like, I got to cosplay Oom some more.
So I wear her pyjamas like, and Oom was like, oh, it matches my
statue. It could just be that, but I
(46:31):
don't know. Thought that there was a
similarity there so I went with it.
I mean, what if eyes just been like after these pyjamas because
they're like super soft and the minute may no, my God, Oom was
in the coma was like, you know what, I'm going to wear these to
feel closer to her. That's her excuse.
(46:53):
Stealing them becomes because she likes them and wants them
would be a novel eye thing to dolike from the book.
She would 100% steal that shit be like this is mine now fuck
you you're in a coma. But this I I don't think just
takes things from umm, unless she's like I need to cosplay you
because you asked me to therefore I will wear your
(47:14):
clothes. But who knows anyway, so that's
eyes clothing. Now let's talk about eyes room
really quickly. And there's one thing that stuck
out to me in this room that I want to talk about here because
I think it's relevant and hopeful.
So it's kind of hard to see in this scene, but in I's room
above her dresser, there's a poster hanging on the wall.
(47:36):
And you can see it better in other scenes when it's light out
in this scene, it's kind of hardto see.
But if you look, there's this poster and it's of a statue
which May also has remember May has the poster of the statue of
David in her office. This is something they have in
common decor wise. And then May and then sorry, I
(47:56):
has a poster of the of a statue of arrows and Psyche above the
dresser. More specifically, it's the
statue done by Antonio Canova and it's called Psyche revived
by Cupid's kiss. So Eros is colloquially called
Cupid. That's who Eros is.
(48:18):
OK, and this is a Greek myth, soit's different, different
mythology, but interesting. They both have pictures of
statues in their spaces and thisone is more a romantic and be
foreshadowing of the I umm may stuff.
So I'm going to get into this a little bit because it's hopeful
at the end and we're sad right now because I is sad.
(48:40):
So let's get into this. Really, it's one of the few
Greek myths that has a happy ending.
So foreshadowing and hope. OK.
And it has fairy tale elements. So it's very relevant to this
the story of I May and umm, let's set the scene a little
bit. So Arrows or Cupid is the son of
(49:01):
Aphrodite and Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of beauty and love
and Psyche was a mortal Princessand the most beautiful woman on
earth at the time. OK.
And like I mentioned, this wholemyth is going to parallel I umm
and May and their story together, OK.
And for this, umm is Aphrodite OK?
(49:27):
I is arrows slash Cupid and May is Psyche because Princess, does
that not fit already? OK yes so here's the myth and
I'll kind of interject how it relates to them.
So Psyche was so beautiful that people, mortal people started
worshipping her instead of Aphrodite.
(49:49):
And if you know anything about Greek gods, anytime they don't
get attention they get super pissed off and vengeful.
OK so Aphrodite got really enraged by this because they
should have been worshipping her.
So this is representative of Umm's when UMM found out the
truth that Umm's jealousy that May loved her and not May loved
I and not her, and then directedthat at May, right?
(50:12):
And that's when she's like fuck you May and made her life
miserable, right? OK so boom, is Aphrodite doing
this to Psyche, which is May. So Aphrodite in her vengeance
ordered her son Arrows to deal with Psyche by using his power.
So he's Cupid, right? He's got the bow and arrow and
when he when you get pinged withthe arrow, you get struck with
(50:34):
love and obsession for whoever it's directed towards.
OK, she's like arrows take your powers and go make Psyche fall
in love with a monster. OK, so this is Om's request to I
go break up with May and make her sad, right?
This is Aphrodite's revenge. Om's revenge.
So when So Eros goes to do it and he's like OK mom I guess,
(50:57):
and he goes to do it and when hefirst sees Psyche, he abandons
his mission immediately because he's struck by love for Psyche.
Does this not sound like I? I mean, I think you're just
talking about Pluto. Basically, So this is I when she
sees May for the first time, right?
The mission's gone, and then a whole bunch of stuff happens.
(51:20):
And Long story short, Arrow secretly marries Psyche behind
Aphrodite's back, but Psyche hasno idea who Arrows is because he
conceals his face and his true identity from her to protect her
from Aphrodite's wrath. So this is most of the show
where I is dating May while she's disguised as UMM.
(51:42):
And UMM doesn't know any of this, right?
OK. Yep.
And their secret marriage in themyths are described from
Psyche's point of view as like afairy tale because she's in a
castle in like, a palace. And like, it's all nice.
And like, her husband's all sweet and stuff, even though she
can't see his face. And she's like, it's kind of
fine. I don't need to see your face.
Like, it's cool, but everything's all great.
(52:04):
So this is like a princess's tale, like the OSD kind of deal
because she gets a fairy tale kind of life, but then
eventually Psyche sees, gets hervision, like to see arrows.
And when that happens, it shatters their relationship.
So this is when I finds out May can see and like the May sees I
(52:28):
and that kind of stuff. So it's like literally vision
changes everything kind of thing.
And then once the truth is now out of who everybody is,
Aphrodite finds out and then forbids arrows from seeing
Psyche and tasks Psyche with multiple impossible like tasks.
So anytime the gods are try are pissed off, they're like, OK,
(52:49):
I'm going to give you impossibletasks to do to show that you're
devoted to me or whatever. And so she gets a whole bunch of
them that she has to complete. So this is parallel Umm's
ultimatum, the big fight in in episode 11 where she's like him
or her or me, and then you're forbidden from seeing each
other. That's like the big task they
have to do, right? So in the myth, eventually
(53:11):
Psyche completes all the tasks and is in the end, like the last
one goes really badly and she ends up like getting saved but
becomes a God in the process basically.
So it's kind of like Psyche in the end gets like welcomed into
the realm of the gods, which is like Eros's family in the same
way that like May and I's families and their friends
(53:33):
accept their relationship at theend.
And in the end Psyche and Arrowslive happily ever after with
Aphrodite's blessing. So this is the I in May getting
there happily ever after with UMM Co signing it in the last
episode. So what an apartment thing to be
in eyes room. And I would miss all of that
(53:53):
because she's I. I would also.
I would, yes, but GMMTV seems tolove mythology because you know
that is that tracks. All of that tracks and then even
if it's not that deep, which I beg to differ, even if it's not
(54:15):
that deep, this being in eyes room is really showing she's a
romantic at the end of the day. Like why else would you have
this in your room if the character is not romantic?
Because it's a pretty romantic story of like and fantastical
and fairy tale like. And it's very, I honestly to be
in her room, but I think it saysa lot about I May and umm, in
(54:37):
the same way that the statue of David said a lot about May being
the underdog and using her intelligence to win battles and
things like that. So thought that was interesting.
The story of their lives, story in poster form.
Yeah, I know so. I was seeing that in my head, so
(54:59):
thank you. That was, I mean, I learned so
much about mythology when you gooff on your tangents because I
know nothing. And I hope the audience learns
something too, because that thatwas Pluto.
That was Pluto in the Greek format, in Greek mythological
format. Basically, I learned Greek
(55:22):
mythology before I learned anything else, so it's stuck in
my head. And it's great.
I love learning it. Maybe if I actually knew the
mythology behind it, she would be able to see more that's going
on. Probably not, but, you know,
(55:43):
maybe. I think it would have been an
inspiration for her to write hernovel, perhaps because she's
been like, oh man, if only our lives are like this and she
would have wrote it into existence.
Yeah, but back in the scene, I turns off the lamp and is about
to go to bed, just dwelling on everything that's going on
(56:06):
because she's, you know, she's still in the dark place.
And then she gets a phone call and.
It's May, and interestingly I doesn't answer the call right
away. She kind of like let's it rings
and stares at it for a bit because this is a critical
juncture for I OK to answer or not to answer.
This is actually a pretty big defining moment, whether she
(56:28):
realizes it or not. Because think about it, she just
wrote all this stuff out in her journal confessing how she, how
she feels, right? That's what journals are.
They're vent. It's like therapy, right?
It's vent. You vent your feelings to
relieve some of that guilt that's weighing her down, like
you said. And what is the summary of what
she wrote? May is better off if I let her
go, right? She just came to that
(56:49):
conclusion. She just, you know, she was
resigned to that fact. She's like, I'm going to do it.
She turns off the light. That's her being like, I'm
resolved to do it. Then May calls because May knows
everything and probably was like, I got to get I, which you
know what I mean? Does she got bugs in her house
and she's like fuck it, I said call now.
No, Jan called her, said I saw something I'm.
(57:11):
Surprised Jan didn't team up with May to be like we have to
complete Oom's request. But anyway, OK.
But The thing is, OK, think about the journal entry right?
You're supposed to like vent your true feelings in the
journal. But is that how I really feels?
Because she does answer the call.
If she really felt that way, shewouldn't answered but she did.
(57:33):
So how does I really feel about this?
Is the question? Is she lying or a journal?
I think she was trying to process what she should do, not
what she wants to do. Because it's like trying to
figure out, all right, what is actually the correct path that
I'm supposed to be going on right now.
And that was her roundabout way of getting there.
(57:54):
But now it doesn't mean she wants to do it.
It's just what she's thinks she has to.
Agreed. Well said.
So she does answer the phone andher tone is very exhausted and
it's not just because she's about to go to bed.
I. Know how long was this day?
I mean, yes, the whole day was exhausting, but right now her
(58:19):
life is her whole life has been exhausting again with that
weight, the weight of when she just drops her hands, like that
weight we saw visibly there visually, but emotionally that
has always been there. And it's just coming to the
point where now this is just another thing that's been added.
(58:40):
No, seriously, it's just too much.
Seriously let's add up all the things that's going on with with
I because OK yes we dealt with May all day but like her twin is
still in a coma that she may never wake up from grandmother
is will not leave Umm's bedside paying her best friend almost
killed Mae Like there's a lot going on and that's what's.
(59:03):
Going on now, like there's stillthe trauma of losing your
parents as a child, losing, feeling like you lost your
sister and your grandmother at that age as well all at once.
The stuff with and not feeling like you had anyone in your
corner growing up doing everything.
And we later learned, like, she's literally trying to make
things easier for everyone else in her life by making things
(59:25):
harder for herself. And then also like to go back to
paying. What the hell is their
friendship now? Remember she didn't text paying
back because she's like, I don'teven know how to deal with this.
Like all these things are like weighing on her, right?
And like she's it was just so we've been so caught up with the
maze stuff. But like, let's not forget I has
a lot of really real fucked up shit going on right now that
(59:46):
she's also emotionally carrying right.
And then like and it's. It doesn't matter where she
turns. There's always.
Something and for a. While May was the escapism and
now like she can't even escape with the thought of May.
That that. So I think I feels very cornered
and just defeated. And the way she answers the
(01:00:06):
phone sounds defeated. Yeah.
But then. Yeah, then May starts yelling
and first of all, you're like, what the hell is happening?
She's yelling for UMM to come help her.
All right, So when you're yelling at somebody on the phone
in the middle, I don't know whattime it is, but like later at
(01:00:28):
night randomly you're going. 1st.
It's insane. All right, so naturally I is
assuming right now that Mei is hurt or in trouble because she's
screaming like a maniac telling UMM to come help her something.
It's the whole. Scenario is fishy and like once
(01:00:49):
again we have a dire situation where I get no context for the
situation she's about to run into, you know what I mean?
But she doesn't even ask for it apparently.
No, she doesn't because knight in shining armor mode takes over
and like I think May knows that.I think May has learned the
pattern that when she's in help,I comes to help her.
(01:01:11):
It doesn't ask questions. She just comes in to save her
because that's her. Her instinct is to be the
savior, right where she comes in.
It's like these hands are rated E for everyone.
Like where's the danger? Like that's what I does.
Like she's done it multiple times.
So I think May when she was sitting there, probably she you
know what May probably did May was probably like, fuck off Tom,
(01:01:32):
fuck off maid. And then she like, made a bath
and probably sat in the bathtub and was like thinking, right?
And she's like, what do I know for sure about this bitch?
And what she knows for sure is that if she needs help and
sounds like she's in danger I will literally show up in 5
minutes and throw hands with whatever like the maid, my
(01:01:52):
cousin doesn't matter I will just start fighting people
because she's going to defend mebecause that's how they first
met And then she did it again when she met her again.
So she's like I know that about her So if I sound super
distressed and freak the fuck out I will come running.
Which makes me think, did she set up the scenario with the
bug? Did she like get a bug
delivered? Because she said bye maid.
(01:02:13):
Did she just like lure one in for mouth?
I mean it's a tropical environment.
Those fucking things are everywhere.
She just leave a light on it. One will show up eventually.
So like did she just like lure some bugs in and was like help
me I because I don't know. What's real with me because she
is good at lying, but it's. True I.
Don't know, she seems really freaked out.
(01:02:33):
I feel like maybe it was a coincidence and it was an
excuse. Either tracks, but the whole
screaming help me I that's catnip.
I cannot. That's kryptonite for I.
She can't fucking resist that shit.
People are like that though, like they again, this happened
(01:02:53):
when I was travelling. Random.
Strangers in Thailand, like someone literally on the group
chat was like screaming and. Asking for help.
Like people are insane when it comes to bugs.
I. Mean they're fucking scary.
We'll get into that. Yeah, but we'll get into that
after some shout outs for our chaos crew over on Patreon.
(01:03:16):
So today our Chaos crew members on the big gay ride or die tier
and above are Data W, Amixmonzone, under score Multi
Natalia, Danny, Kassie M here for it, Jill L, Regina B and
Monet F Theora's hearts go off really easily.
Now. I feel like I'm going to have to
make you do it like five times in each.
And our featured big Gay supporter members for this
(01:03:37):
episode are Selena C, Carly S, and Haley F.
Thank you so much for all your support and everyone who
supports us however you can, whether it's on Patreon,
watching our full reactions to Pluto, full length, unedited, no
ads. You get everything early over
(01:03:58):
there or just by joining Discordtoo and connecting with us and
everybody else over there who loves queer media.
Seriously, it's it's a great time.
I love seeing when people bond over there.
There's there's been some very cute conversations.
It is super cute and big thank you to Patreon because Patreon
(01:04:20):
picked our next scene by scene breakdown topic and they
overwhelmingly picked Pluto and that's how we all got here
today. So thank you, Patreon.
Thank you Patreon, this is your fault.
We're here 3 episodes in Episode2.
And we love it. And so yes, Patreon gets to pick
what we dive into. So if you're about that life,
it's another incentive for becoming a Patreon member.
(01:04:43):
But we'll be here for 84 years, so don't worry about it.
You got time. So let's not delay.
No, let's not. We're getting to my favorite
scene in the whole show. Let's get there.
And go back to Knight and Shining Armor Eye coming to her
Princess Mae's rescue. Literally no thoughts.
(01:05:07):
Just just these. Hands are rated E for everyone
that's her entering the scene. It's the best.
I love everything about this whole scene.
In the house is incredible. Just all of it.
So let's begin with her actuallyrunning in the house, because
she runs in asking Mae who did something to her.
(01:05:29):
It's like, did Todd come back? What's happening?
And let us know I is still in her pyjamas.
OK, so she gets the call, literally runs out of the house
in her pyjamas. We'll see in a flashback that
Pang showed up. So it's like, and then she had
to like get past Pang. But like, literally she got the
phone call was like grabbed her helmet was running out the door.
(01:05:52):
She even changed. She was just like, May is in
danger. No other thoughts.
That's how worried I was, OK. And I love who did something to
you because the way it sounded on the phone was like, help me,
I'm in danger. Like if that's all I got, she
was no contacts. There was no explanation.
There was help me, which sounds like there's a murderer in my
(01:06:15):
house. You know what I mean?
Like it just there's no contacts.
There's still the unknown of, like, what happened with this
car accident. Was someone trying to off her?
Does that mean someone was trying to off May as well?
Yeah. And like there's anything as a
possibility because they don't know what actually happened.
But again, this goes yeah to your LO, that's true.
(01:06:37):
Which again shows how I does notthink about any of this because
if she thought someone was here harming me, she shows up with no
weapons. Like she just shows up in her
pajamas and was like who fuckingdid something to you it?
Just comes to her bed, throw hands.
That's what I mean. She's.
Just ready to throw hands. She did not think this through.
If she really thought maybe it was in danger, you'd think she'd
like bring a pipe. Like, I don't know, something.
(01:06:59):
She just shows up and she's like, where's the, where's the
bitch? Like, you know what I mean?
Like that's just I ready to fight people always, and I
respect that about her because like we've said in other
episodes, Thai people, we love you all.
You're so polite. So I respect I for being like I
will throw hands with people if they're harming you.
I respect that about I because we grew up in America, yes.
(01:07:21):
That's what we're taught. This is what we're taught.
We're terrible. Please judge us all you want.
That's fine. OK, so here's the deal though.
May I? I firmly believe played I from
the moment she made that phone call to the very end of all of
these shenanigans. Because what it may do, she
(01:07:43):
lured I to the mansion because she again knows I will come to
her ready to fight people without asking any questions.
She's like, I don't need context.
You're in danger. That's all that matters because
like I said, she's done this multiple Times Now.
So then she's gets I here. It works.
She's like, cool, confirmation bias that that works.
Great to know. File that away for next time.
(01:08:06):
And then my I think that May is really trying to enact a plan
here to get I to admit she's not.
I think a lot of those was just being like, boom, aren't you the
one that's good at this? I like, I think eyes try to get,
I mean Mae's trying to get I to be like I'm not OOM and it
doesn't work because eyes. There's no they're both like
(01:08:28):
trying. Well, I mean, I doesn't know
that Mae knows, but like, that'sMae's whole goal this entire
time was just to get I to admit it.
She's just trying to just try. It but they're like both doing
the same thing. However, I doesn't realize that
she's doing. It no and I is so petrified and
(01:08:48):
emotional in this scene. She goes from just like Maze in
danger to I'm in danger. Like there's no thoughts going
on in ice rain the rest of the scene.
It's amazing. But at this point I still
doesn't know what's happening. And now it's May's turn to pull
(01:09:08):
an eye because she does not use her words and all she does is
cringe and point upstairs in themost hilarious way.
So funny. Which again, like, I know she's
a good actor and I know she's a good liar, but like, this seems
real. And also it gets still be read
(01:09:28):
as there's a murderer upstairs. I is still rightfully confused
because she thinks something nefarious happened because she's
screaming help me on the phone and she can't figure out what it
is by May's reaction because again she is just pointing
upstairs. She.
Sure is she? How does it feel I but I do.
(01:09:49):
Feel if this. Yeah.
I was wondering if this is like Mae's way of being.
Like, you know what? I want I to realize what she's
doing now. Let I be the blind one.
Yeah, exactly. And really introduce the way of
making I be the blind one because she doesn't.
She doesn't know where the bug is later.
She doesn't know why she's here.Yeah, exactly.
(01:10:10):
She doesn't have the full picture.
That's actually really that is something Mae would do to be
like. She likes teasing eyes.
She's like, bitch, I'm going to tease your ass.
I mean it works. And so I guess May doesn't
actually explain what is. Happening.
So I follows her and May finallyexplains what's going on right
outside her bedroom. So I don't I we didn't get the
(01:10:32):
full tour of the house like I did, I assume when they were
getting the first aid kit. You know that random tour?
I still believe that happened. Left back to our first ever
episode for Pluto. You know, I went back and
rewatched it and there's dialogue we missed where the
where Mae tells the maid go get the first aid kit.
I still firmly believe that she still took my editor either way.
(01:10:59):
It had to have happened. She looked ridiculous coming
into this house not knowing where everything. 100%.
OK, but I want to know what happened in between because.
Seriously. Was all that make you get out
like my bedroom or like did I was just like, OK, she's she's
(01:11:19):
too scared to say anything. I guess I should just follow.
Well, here's the. Thing when may cause May's like
shoving eye towards the bedroom.I thought like willingly doing
this anyway and and at this point I is not empty handed.
She now has the broom and the bag.
So. Imagine not getting context to
me. Like why do I have these?
(01:11:40):
And then Mae's pushing her towards the bedroom.
And it's not until they get nextto the door that Mae finally
tells her that there's a cockroach in her room, and she
knows because she could smell itand hear it flying.
That's so. Creepy.
(01:12:00):
What happened in between to get to where we are right now, like
eyes just so complacent and justlike, sure, I'll do whatever you
want, I love you. Yeah, basically, no, I think I
is panicking because she thinks she's in danger and she's just
not thinking. She's like, where's the danger?
Where's the danger? May, where's the danger?
And so then she's like, I guess I'll hold this broom, but like,
where's the danger? What's this bag for?
(01:12:22):
And then she's like, there's a cockroach.
And I was like, what? That's why I'm here.
She's like, am I supposed? To kill someone with a broom and
then put them in this bag. Do you need by disposing a body
like? What are we doing right now?
This isn't. Yellow jackets, right?
I didn't ask the goddamn questions, you know that.
(01:12:43):
She's never asked a question. She's a ride or die.
So funny, but then we find out that I is not a fan of.
Oh my God, in the most hilariousway, this is the greatest thing
ever. And the first thing she does
after hearing about this cockroach is giving this very
useful advice, which is why don't you just ignore it?
(01:13:06):
And then this is funny. I love this.
Dialogue is so funny. Just pretend it's not there man.
Basically just ignore. It because I would you be able
to ignore if a bug was. There I would burn the house
down. I'd be like, what house?
Meanwhile, we didn't need that. We'd.
Rather burn this whole house down than listen to one more
(01:13:28):
moment of this cockroach living in her existence.
Which? Is so funny I and then she's
like yeah keep going she. Suggests to May that May sleeps
in another room because she's like you've.
Got multiple bedrooms in this. Place.
You're gonna be fine. Just close the door.
We'll board it off. Yeah.
We'll burn it in a couple years.Yeah, what it?
Does The Last of Us the apocalypse?
(01:13:50):
We'll just board it all up. We never shall enter that room
again, no. And then May responds that she
doesn't want it in her room because I you wouldn't want it
in your room either. All of her clothes are there
like yeah I what the fuck. Like this is so funny.
Can't just ignore this room. So funny.
(01:14:12):
Also there are cracks in the door, it's not like the bugs
couldn't get out. Again, I was not thinking she
just she went from May's in danger to I'm in danger.
She's just like, no, they won't just it'll be like a haunted
house where you got this one mysterious room and like no one
goes into it and be a tourist interaction and she's like I
fucking kill the bug. What are you doing?
(01:14:33):
Or not kill it cuz karma get it out of my room.
Yeah. So May is continuing to push I
to get rid of it and she may make sure to say please.
So like, how are you supposed tosay no to that?
I like May says please. Oh, that's the thing.
(01:14:55):
I was never going to say no to this, but she tries so hard to
get out of this and she's like, OK, may you want this out of the
house because Mae is like, I don't want that thing
reproducing in my room, which isvalid because then you don't
just have one bug. You have bugs as a problem and
they could get out and that's a bigger problem.
So she's like, I don't want themthis thing making babies.
And I was like, fuck. All right, well, she's like,
(01:15:15):
well, let's get a security guard.
That's her next line. It's like, you should call the
police. And it's like, that's a bug.
I and then basically this is where I think Mae was trying to
trip her up to be like, she's like, she's like umm, why are
you so confused? Umm, you're the one that handles
pest control. Umm And with that, I is
(01:15:39):
presented with another opportunity to tell her the
truth of what's going on, but she doesn't.
Instead, I is chooses to tackle the cockroach which shows I's
true feelings because like I brought up with the journal
entry, what does I really feel? It comes out in this moment.
(01:16:00):
Losing slash hurting May is moreterrifying than the bug she's
terrified of. But could you just imagine I
screaming? But I'm not home in the heat of
the moment that. 'D be perfect though and maybe
be like thank God, what's to unpack that later, but I need
you to get the fucking bug and then we can have like, I mean
(01:16:21):
talk later. May just like looks up is like.
Finally, how funny would it be if if if they're like it's like
a heated exchange where she's like call a security guard and
she's like, no, I need you to doit.
And then she's like, I'm not Oh,and then he's like, I know, go
get the bug. No, I guess one more.
So like what? Go get a security guard.
(01:16:42):
No, but you're the one to do it.And hold on.
What did you say? It's like, oh, go get the bug.
Why don't we get a security guard?
No. You're you're the one who
usually does it. No, I'm not.
Yeah, you do. You just did all that.
I'm not her. And then?
Thank God. All right, I know.
(01:17:04):
Get the bugs because like, I don't, I'm not doing that and
then like I still doesn't process that, she said.
I know. No, I think I would process it
really, really slowly. And that would be May's
opportunity to shove her into the room and close the room.
Or she'd be like, we will talk about this.
I after you get the bug. And then I was like, what just
happened? And then a new wave of fear,
(01:17:26):
because now she's in the room with the scary bug.
With the thoughts like oh shit, now we have to have this
conversation later, but still there's a bug right there so.
I feel like if this was somewhere somehow by momma,
that's how this exchange would have gone down.
Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, if Mon Ma wrote this
(01:17:48):
story, that's how that would have happened.
And then I don't know what the rest of the fucking story would
be about, but it would have beenepic and romantic and wild but
funny as fuck because Mon Ma is.If you've never read a Mon Mon
novel, Mon Ma wrote The Loyal Pin.
And somewhere, somehow, Idol Factory has a monopoly on Mon Ma
productions. Oh my God, she's so funny.
(01:18:08):
When she writes stuff. She's hilarious.
Her books are so funny. So funny.
Oh my God. Anyway, so like, yeah, Mama
wrote this. This would have been hilarious.
And that's what everybody would have got on the same page.
And I would have loved the sceneeven more.
But it's already really funny. But yeah, May right now is fully
messing with her because like, come on, girl, you know, this is
(01:18:31):
I, this is not who captures yourbugs.
And it goes to show that even inthis high stakes quote situation
with this bug, because like the bug so scary, which I
understand, like I would, I don't want, I don't want to be
near a cockroach. No, I'm good.
But May is still really good at lying and staying on task.
(01:18:53):
Like she's still saying, oh, she's like, what do you mean?
Even with this fear of this bug.But like also like the way, if
you watch the way Mae deliver those delivers the line, that
line, it really reads us like she's fucking with I because the
way she delivers it, it's very much like that's brand new
information. Like the way she says it, she's
(01:19:14):
like, what do you mean? Umm, you're the one that handles
pest control Like oh, like she'salmost like baiting I in that
scene and I is just so funny in the scene.
She doesn't catch any of this because she's terrified of the
scenario. So she's like called the police
basically. And it's like, I it was so
funny. Anyway, that was my read on the
way film delivered the line. But it could just be she's also
(01:19:36):
panicking. It just says it like that.
But yeah, she's committed to thebit.
I is not. I is being herself in the scene.
She's trying to be home or not blow her cover, but like it
fails hardcore so many times. It's this is hilarious.
OK, so then after that we get a we had if you hadn't put
together at this scene at this juncture that I is terrified of
(01:19:58):
bugs. We get a flashback of UMM and I
versus a cockroach. OK, so like I think they're
teenagers at this time. I'm not really sure, but it
opens with they're in Mima's house.
UMM is studying at the kitchen table and then I is screaming
and she comes running into the room because she's like I found
a cockroach in the bathroom. And she's just flipping out.
(01:20:21):
She's like the heebie jeebies. She's like skeeved out hardcore
and umm's like a bitch. I am trying to study.
And so she is so annoyed with I that she's like, Oh my God,
you're the worst. So she just like gets the bag in
the broom to go get the bug. And I love that umm judges I and
she's like, you're bigger than it.
(01:20:42):
Like you know that, right? I know you're a dumb ass but
like you do know that you're so much bigger than this bug and
like look at you. That's a good point though,
because like you are so scared of stuff that's so.
Small we have a whole. Lot hurt us.
We have a whole last turn for people who are afraid of
spiders. It's called arachnophobia.
(01:21:03):
Listen girl, cockroaches. You should be afraid of them.
They can survive nuclear war zones and they can fly like
they're terrifying. Like what do you mean?
This is where I found I super relatable.
Like as somebody who also grew up in a tropical environment
like this, these bugs just get into your house and they're
(01:21:23):
terrifying. And when I was in Florida, we
had Palmetto bugs, which are bigger than cockroaches.
They're like this big and they fucking fly and they're
horrifying. So I'm with you, girl.
It's not like they're tiny. They're big motherfuckers that
fly at you. So I get it.
I get it. They're terrifying.
I don't want it, no UMM. But I do like this scene between
(01:21:46):
UMM and I because we get a little glimpse of how UMM can be
brave and stronger than I. So like UMM goes and gets the
bug and is going to like take itoutside or whatever and she's
got it in the bag and then she eyes clearly upset and so she
like shoves it in eyes face and does like typical sibling shit
where she's scaring eye to make her squirm and stuff and such a
(01:22:08):
classic sibling moment. And it's nice to see a scene
where UMM has the upper hand. And it's like UMM is not the
weak one in this part of their dynamic.
Yeah, that's that's very true. Like she's just having fun
messing with I. Yeah, and the flashbacks we get
(01:22:31):
before this, it's always like being the weaker one.
She's the one who's sick, she's the one who's being bullied.
Right, exactly. She's the one that needs saving
and it's like here she's being like I, you're ridiculous.
I feel like this is pretty common too.
It's always like the people who are so confident, like if
there's a bug around then they'll she's terrified.
(01:22:53):
And then it's always like the underdog, if you will, who's
doesn't seem as strong, is the one who's like, OK, just let me
pick this up and I'll put it outside with my bare hand.
All right, So I was just transported back into that
(01:23:14):
memory. OK.
And it was clearly she's still thinking about it when we go
back to the present moment and eyes like frozen and sweet
innocent May is like Oom, OOM, Ineed you to get rid of the bug.
OOM. And I snapped that like takes
her a few times to get I to likesnap out of it and be like, oh,
shit, OK, that's right. Oom is not afraid of bugs like I
(01:23:38):
am. OOM would be my pest control
person. Like, fuck, we're fucked.
We're all going to die. It's basically what's going on
in I's brain right now. And then May's like again
taunting I where she's like, areyou scared?
Umm because I still think she's trying to tap trap I in this lie
and but I this is the funniest line that she delivers.
(01:23:59):
She's so delusional that when May asks this, aye, no thoughts,
just actions. She's like, who's scared?
Oom's not scared. And then she like turns around
to go into the room like this was ridiculous.
The way she does this because she's like oh I'm scared, Fuck
that, no I'm oom. It was like, she's trying to
convince herself, too. She's trying to.
(01:24:22):
She's just like, yeah, it's fully rolled.
Just go, don't think Oom's got this or whatever.
And then Mae's like, that's great, Oom.
And then she shoves eye into theroom.
This is so funny. And then we get the greatest
scene in the whole show that is so fucking funny.
(01:24:45):
Like Nam Tam deserves an award for how she played this scene
because like, this is just her by herself.
Like 10 out of 10 for this wholescene of I trying to get the
bug. This was so funny.
Everything was so funny about this.
But before we jump to that so real quick, I just wanted to say
the realism of all of this and this like type of dynamic is
(01:25:06):
really funny because in relationships, there's usually
one person who does do pest control and the other one that
doesn't. Which means that when May and I
get together, the pest control person is the maid.
Because they're both not gonna. They're both not gonna do it.
And that is why the maid has jobsecurity.
Listen, she was not in trouble. She drinking pina coladas or
(01:25:28):
something right now. She got the night off the next
two days anyway, So let's get back to Nam Tam's award award
for a comedy and this fucking scene because this was so funny.
OK, so it starts off with I trapped in the door closes and I
was like, fuck, I'm alone in theroom with the monster, right?
So this is like the knight trying to defeat the dragon and
(01:25:50):
eyes brain, even though it's a tiny cockroach, that's how she
thinks about it. I'm confident because she's in
the room by herself and then sheis still trying to convince
herself she's like confident about this and she keeps going.
I'm not scared. I'm not scared.
I'm not scared while she's like entering the room, like with the
bag as her shield and like this the room as her sword, She like
(01:26:12):
goes in convincing herself everything's fine, everything's
fine. Then she doesn't just enter the
bedroom. She slides into the bedroom.
Like I would love to know how much direction she actually got
for the scene, because this justlike reads like Nam Tam, just
like they're like go get a bug. And then she's like, all right.
And she's like does it. So she like slides into the
room. Also how would you direct this?
(01:26:32):
Like I just, you just stand there thinking, what would be
the funniest way to do this slide?
Was it choreographed? Yeah.
Was there I first. I'm sure there's things she had
to do that'd be like tap this orlike do this, but like, go for
it, girl. And so like, she goes in there
and then again, she's like slides in there, OK?
And she's got this really wide stance when she does that, OK?
(01:26:54):
So it's almost like she's makingherself look bigger.
So like Om said, remember your bigger eye because she just had
that flashback. So she's like got her arms
outstretched, her legs outstretched.
She's got the weapons. And she's like, I'm not afraid
of you. I'm bigger than you, right?
Just what you're supposed to do with a bear.
Listen, right, exactly. And it's a cockroach, which I
(01:27:16):
really think about this is so funny.
And then she does things that are so ineffective, like she,
she'll like, she taps the drapesand then like runs away just.
Watch, I mean, I get because you're trying to you have to
make it fly first so you can find out where it is.
That's true. But like the way she does it is
just like jab, jab and then she.Jabs and goes back.
(01:27:37):
Jabs goes so funny. Which is fair because you don't
want it to fly at your face. Yeah, no, absolutely.
That's gross and terrifying. So then, OK, so she taps the
drapes and then she's like, thisis serious because that didn't
work. So then she, like, goes into her
little shirt pocket and pulls out a hair tie.
And she's like, this got serious.
I got to put up my hair, which is so realistic.
And not enough women in film do that where it's like,
(01:28:01):
realistically she would put her hair up because like, that's how
you like, so she can see better and stuff like.
So I love the realism of that. We do not put our hair up enough
in media. It's like always like down
flowing perfectly fine not. Yeah, cuz that's what people do
in real life. I think it's more like the
makeup hair artist is like don'tfucking touch that or I'll kill
(01:28:22):
you. But this was, I don't like, I
get the sense by looking at themthat they don't have a ton of
product in their hair and stuff like from a makeup, like from a
hair stylist perspective, because like their hair, they,
they, they play with their hair more.
So I think they have more flexibility as an actor to do
things like this. Because like, again, was this
(01:28:42):
scripted or was it not? Because what if you're the hair
designer in the background? Be like, God damn it, damn it,
put your hair up now I got to fix it, you know what I mean?
So yeah, but the realism of this.
OK so then, OK so then what doesshe do now?
She's like, OK, I've basically put my armor on by putting my
hair up, let's get serious. So she gets serious by jumping
on the bed and then does a powerpose again.
(01:29:04):
Like again she's trying to channel all this confidence that
she doesn't have and then she like skirts around the bed, like
touching stuff and like she doesthis like 3 times and then she's
like, it's gone May. I'm like, you didn't even check
the whole room. Like she just pokes around the
bed and then she's like, it's gone May.
I mean, in her defense, because she's terrified right now, it's
(01:29:29):
probably feels like she's been looking forever.
And because, like, time's just stopped.
Like this is fear. This is just pure fear surfaces
now. OK?
She's done the bare minimum. She's done, she's done.
She's like I'm done, May not that it's gone, I'm done.
She keeps doing this in the scene where she's like it's
gone, May after she does nothing.
(01:29:50):
And I do not believe you. This is so funny because then
when May comes into the room, because May comes in and we'll
question I about this, but before she does, we get this
shot of May and what she's doingwhile I is checking parts of the
(01:30:11):
room selectively and make and I'm not quiet.
She's making all these noises when she's in there and she's
like, like making all these noises.
And May is like outside the bedroom door, like with her ear
fusing with the wood listening to this shit.
And I'm like, there's like May has to pick up some of the
distress signals coming through this door from I like the
(01:30:33):
whining while she's doing this. Like she has to pick up eyes
like marginally terrified at least by like listening to the
door, unless that's a bulletproof door and you can't
hear anything through it, which then doesn't track because then
she's like all coast is clear, May.
And then May comes in and May obviously is unease because she
like she creeps into the room, like she still doesn't believe I
(01:30:53):
and it's kind of terrified. And then I turns into like the
charming night right where she like she grabs, she let's go of
her stuff and then grabs May. Like she guides May towards her
physically and she's like, don'tbe afraid, May suddenly she's
brave. She's like, don't be afraid.
(01:31:14):
Everything's fine. I checked everywhere also.
Does I realized that because shedid not find a cockroach,
there's still a cockroach in this room.
Listen, she keeps forgetting that logic the whole scene,
because she says it. Now she's like, I checked
everywhere, me, don't be afraid,it's gone.
(01:31:35):
And for all her brilliance, May believes I when she claims the
bug should be gone, even though there's no logical way that that
is possible. But Mae's like, you're a great
eye. You're the greatest thing ever.
And I think Mae's just like, I'mhappy you came here when I was
calling for help. I'm just happy you're here,
right? The bug is irrelevant.
(01:31:57):
It's also like the child way of I can't see it so it's gone.
No, that's literally I she like reverts to a scared child in the
scene. And then when Mae's here, she's
like, no, I'm an adult, I'm a brave adult.
Don't be frightened, my lady. Like that's basically I during
the scene. And then that doesn't last
because the bug is not gone because how could it be?
(01:32:19):
But I forget that because Mae tells her she's awesome.
And initially AI's reaction is to take the compliment at face
value. So at first she smiles because
she's like, oh, Mae's complimenting me and being so
great because I was totally not afraid of that bug.
And she like, reaches to like, stroke Mae's hair, basically.
But then she like closes her eyes and like shakes herself out
(01:32:41):
of it because again, eyes like, remember, she thinks you're umm,
she thinks you're umm, the pest control goddess.
You're you're anyway, shake yourself.
It's not for you. I the compliment's not for you.
But then the Foley team is like that bug is still here.
So then they we hear some loud scratching that interrupts this
moment. So like again, good job, sound
(01:33:02):
design and Mae's like, umm, what's that?
And, and who would have thought the bug is back because it never
left the room and it's just chilling on the lamp on the
bedside table. So like, I girl, you were just
on the bed. She must have disturbed it
enough that it was like, I'm going to go here and then.
(01:33:26):
The bug was just watching these disaster days.
They need. They need something.
The bug is trying to get out of this room to find the kitchen
and then we get a shot of eye and one of my favorite moments
of eye where she realizes the bug is here and the terror that
overtakes eye. Her face is so funny when she's
(01:33:47):
just like in just freezes with fear.
And just like again a minute agoshe was like, my lady,
everything's fine. And he's like, what's that
noise? I And then I doesn't say
anything because she's terrifiedand like grips Mae's clothing
and like pulls me into her and it's just like not saying
(01:34:07):
anything and Mae's like, I what are you doing?
What's going on? And I says nothing.
And then the bug flies straight towards them and May, who
doesn't know what's going on until I start screaming and like
shoves her out for May. In the scene I just lunges with
(01:34:28):
May tore like away from the bug and then they can.
We talk about the camera movement.
As the bug, the bug is. Flying like because the camera
just kind of flies into with it and it's really cool.
It is really cool. Yeah, it does like this.
Given the bug, the power in thatmoment.
I mean, which it has all the power knows it has the power.
(01:34:52):
It can see you, I it can see you.
It sees into your soul. That's why she's so struck in
with terror in the scene. I just thinking about this whole
thing from Mae's point of view is really funny because Mae
doesn't know what's happening because eyes not saying
anything. And then I just like, screams.
Hi, who's supposed to be umm just scream just again.
(01:35:15):
And it's also like terrifying, like you can't see what's going
on. She can't scream and holding on
to you. Right.
And then suddenly she feels likeher clothing being with a death
grip and she's like umm, what ishappening?
Umm. And May is also afraid of the
bug. So like poor me, May has had a
hell of a day if she didn't see a therapist before this episode.
(01:35:38):
May needs one because this day was a lot and I feel like you
could unpack this one day with Ifor like a month in therapy
because so much shit happened inthis one day.
It's true. That's why we're here, so.
(01:35:59):
But we have a happy ending because I instinctively again
lunges away from the bug, which is smart, and pulls May and they
end up like falling on the bed and we get the obligatory we
fell on top of each other and our faces are a breath apart
because we must have that or howelse will we have to watch?
It twice. And we have to watch it twice so
(01:36:22):
that we are all impacted by thisscene.
OK, so let's unpack this. Because now that we're here.
So then everything gets quiet and gay staring happens with a
ton of shot reverse shots between I and May.
OK, just remember, May doesn't know what's happening.
May still just remember. May still doesn't know what's
(01:36:44):
happening. But let us all recall, remember
the mindset that we are in. So I came to this house with the
mindset that she needed to come clean about everything and let
May go. OK, remember that was I's
mindset. Then all of this happened and
now here we are where I is laying on top of May basically
(01:37:06):
and a breath away from her face, right?
So let's talk about this from eyes point of view.
So eyes point of view, feelings take over.
Her heart starts pounding. I think we can hear it in the
audio, right? Because duh.
And her feelings towards me, like I mentioned, are very
intense. They're very new and that is an
intoxicating thing. And now it's coupled with the
(01:37:29):
fact that, like, their bodies are like pressed together, OK,
increasing how intoxicating thiswhole thing is for I.
So what does I do? I takes a moment or 20 to slowly
trace May's face with her eyes and she thinks about kissing
(01:37:49):
May. Like I think in her brain she's
like, man, it would be so easy. They're so close.
This would be so easy. And the scene ends with this
cliffhanger of like I staring atMae's lips.
So it's like, will they or won'tthey kind of cliffhanger.
OK, so that's I's point of view. But let's talk about Mae.
Because remember, Mae doesn't know what the fuck is happening.
(01:38:11):
Mae knows there's a cockroach inher room.
Ohm went to go get it. Then Ohm started screaming and
then suddenly they're on the bed, right?
So Mae doesn't know what the fuck just happened.
I didn't realize that she didn'tknow she.
Doesn't know she May has no context for any of this and
while she can't see, she can feel the fact that I is lying on
(01:38:33):
top of her and May's like I don't know what happened.
This is new, I'm into it. May is for sure having feelings
also, and I'm sure she's gettinga lot of context from clues,
context clues from eye, because again, they are pressed together
basically, and then their faces are very, very close.
So I'm sure she can feel eye breathing against her face.
(01:38:56):
So she's like, oh, we're real close, OK.
And if she can, then she knows that eye lingers real close to
her face. And Mae's probably like, what is
she doing? Is she going to kiss me?
And I'm like, what is she doing?May must be going crazy, You
know what I mean? And then she can definitely,
like, probably feel Eye's heart pounding.
She admits in the next episode she's like, I can hear it.
(01:39:17):
And so again, what was May's whole mission?
She's like, is I into me or not?I still need more evidence.
Right Here is the evidence because these are all
involuntary things that I's bodyis doing to clue May into the
fact that I is attracted to her.OK, So she's gathering off that
and also I chooses to linger in this position for quite some
(01:39:39):
time. So really this whole scene was a
win for May, is what I'm saying.May wins in the scene.
Hashtag May wins, May wins, and then the cliffhanger.
From May's point of view is do something I and then it ends
like fucking do something, man. Because May has to be like, what
(01:40:02):
is she going to do? What is she doing?
She's so close to me, what is she going to do?
That's also what the audience iswondering.
We're all may in the same we're like I do something that was a
good that was a fun cliphanger you.
Listen to this scene. Yeah.
That was a fun cliphanger. No one's in mortal danger, they
(01:40:23):
just think they are. Well, Mae still has no idea
what's happening. But Mae.
Doesn't know what's happening and then what's really funny in
the next that when we pick this up in the next episode, I still
insist the bug's gone. And it's like, girl, there's no
evidence that this bug is gone. Like you just want to ignore it
so bad. She keeps lying about the bug,
which is really funny. I just I can't with her on the
bug. That was the funniest thing.
(01:40:44):
I laughed out loud so much like the first time I watched this
and when I rewatch it because it's just so funny.
The way Nam Tam approached the scene, it's just a talking
hilarious. My favorite part is definitely
like the slide into the jab jab. That's like the best sequence.
It's so good, I love it. It's so funny.
(01:41:08):
She's so funny, but it's great. That has been episode 2.
That was episode 2, so let us know what you thought about
episode 2 if we missed anything.Thoughts and feelings Before we
close out, we will give our final thoughts in our Taylor
Swift section. So I think the song for me that
(01:41:28):
goes with this particular part of the episode is the prophecy,
which is from the Tortured Poetsdepartment album.
Because basically the crux of that song is like the chorus is
like, like, please change this prophecy.
Like I'm on my knees begging fora different, basically a
different outcome in this relationship that I have for
this situation that I'm in is basically the crux of that whole
(01:41:50):
song. And so I think that there's a
lot that we went over that goes with this.
So first of all, they're in the Psyche and Arrows myth.
There was a prophecy about Psyche and that myth that I
didn't talk about where the prophecy about her is that she
was going to marry a winged serpent, which did not come true
and said she married Arrows AKAI.
(01:42:11):
So there's that. And then from the character's
point of view, you have I who wants to change this destined
thing she believes, which is that she's going to become
Pluto, right? And that like her and May are
destined for disaster. And she wants that to get
changed so badly. May in this episode wants I to
(01:42:31):
be brave and do the pest controlduty.
So let's change that outcome because somebody has to be able
to take care of the cockroaches because we live in Thailand and
they live here. Going back to Officer Hottie, I
think we talked about, I don't think we talked about Officer
Hottie here, but I'm going to add it for just episode 2.
In general. Officer Hottie wants her change
her reality of workplace harassment, and I also want that
(01:42:52):
to change. Jan wants to change careers and
become a detective. Let's keep that real and Paying
really wants I to believe that May is a villain and she was her
and not May and not May so. There's a lot of people.
She also wants May to be the villain.
Yes, she also wants May to be the villain.
So there's a lot of Please Change My Destiny that goes with
(01:43:13):
a lot of these characters and the mythology behind them.
I'll be bringing up this song later in this show because it
also matches something else. I mean, it's a great song.
It is. This is what I do in the car.
I listen to Taylor's looking like, well, how can I fit this
into Pluto? Yeah, I I feel that.
(01:43:33):
Do you have a song for this piece of the episode?
I think it's it's very straightforward because we've
brought it up multiple times throughout this, even this part
Mastermind, because really May is the mastermind in this part.
(01:43:54):
Yeah, she's, she's, we've got somuch going on up there that I
just not know about. You can also read that song from
eyes point of view because the song is basically like this.
Like the protagonist is like into somebody and like tries to
manipulate these situations and then in the end is like, man,
you knew you knew I was the mastermind.
(01:44:14):
I was trying to do this all along.
Like that's the ultimate outcomeof that song.
So like it could be that Mae's like I I know that you're not
like I knew this whole fucking time.
That's girl, that's good. You ain't no mastermind.
So in the end, like the mastermind is not a mastermind.
So like that is also I, but it reads both ways, which is fun.
All right, let us know what you think in the comments.
(01:44:36):
Which Taylor Swift song goes with this episode part if you'd
like to play along with that. And we'll conclude with our Big
Gay Energy award. Big Gay Energy.
Award. I've been debating this I the
only thing I could really come up with is them falling on the
bed. That had a lot of big air
energy. Also May calling I out of
(01:45:01):
nowhere and I literally running to May's house in her pyjamas
being like who do I got to fightlike that?
A lot of big energy. Like no thoughts just protect my
girlfriend. Like that was all I was
thinking. That's fair, too.
Yeah. Those, those two, those two.
This was a more sad part just because there's so much.
(01:45:22):
There is big I need a hug energycoming from it was just like.
Exhaustion coming to the front, the weight of the world for
sure, but we still have gay moments and gay awards to go
about gay energy. All right, so secret word for
(01:45:46):
this one. I forgot to pick one.
Nice. Oh, just you know what it's
going to be cockroach. Oh my God, yeah.
Because we don't like it. But it's still, it's still here.
It's still. Here it is still in that fucking
room no matter how much I is like it's gone May everything's
(01:46:07):
fine. She does it multiple times when
that bug is absolutely still in that room.
Like she is so in denial about the bug and May is just like I
guess I. Also, this one isn't relevant to
this episode, but I didn't say in the last one because you
picked a different bonus word. But I have a question that I
really do want people to answer and it's what was the
(01:46:29):
conversation between I and May when I told her that she had to
go rescue a cat. I want to know what that what
you think like fan fiction in the comments.
Yeah, what the hell? It's going to be really range
because it's not even for this part, but I just want, I'm
curious to see like how other people would write these
characters. How do you think that went down?
(01:46:50):
Doesn't have to be long, I. Just like, yeah, I will, yeah.
Let us know how you think that conversation went.
I would love to read people's takes on that because it's just
it's valid or like it's. Off screen or if it actually
happened, how would I rescue a cat?
Oh, my God. Yeah.
What was that scenario? Yeah.
(01:47:11):
All right, so there's lots to think about.
We want to hear your thoughts and we will be back.
Not next week with Pluto. Remember, next week will be a
