(00:25):
Music. Hello there and welcome.
We are the bitches of Dathamir. My name is Rachel.
And I'm Jen, and yeah, welcome to the podcast.
What is it that we're doing here?
Why do we exist, Rachel? Some days I don't the accidental
question. Our podcast exists to help
(00:46):
educate all on the High Republicand we are currently in phase
three of the High Republic and we're talking about George
Mann's book, which is Tears of the Nameless.
We're in our third part of this book and I think we're going to
be covering 28 through 41, whichare intense chapters.
We keep saying it every time we're like, oh, this one's a
(01:09):
really great section, but it just keeps getting better, as
everything in the High Republic we've ever read does.
I mean, they're just such great.Storytellers.
There's such great storytellers and writers and the stories are
amazing and I'm hyped to talk about this section.
Same, I've been thinking about it than in my brain for a bit so
(01:30):
we'll see what comes out of my mouth today.
I know you finished this sectionlike I want to say a week and a
half ago. Yeah, it was like the day after
we recorded our last episode. And I don't procrastinate, but
I'm normally not that, like, crazy about it.
I'll do it like, right in between, you know, like a normal
person. And I haven't some insomnia.
(01:52):
And I was like, and whatever, like, we're just going to go for
it. And then I couldn't stop because
this section was so good that I was like, I cannot go to sleep
until I know what has happened. And then I deeply regret it ever
making that decision so. Yeah, cuz now you have to wait
until I catch up and we could talk about.
This I had to wait and I had to go to work the next morning
(02:14):
looking like I just cried myselfto sleep and I was like, I
didn't. I totally didn't.
I just look like this. That has nothing to do with what
I did last night. I know.
So yeah, we cannot wait to talk about this section of what has
been a fantastic book so far, ina surprise to no one but.
Fantastically horrid. Fantastically traumatizing,
(02:37):
George. But before we get into actually
talking about the book, we do talk about Star Wars news.
And I feel like I have a few things that I want to get out of
the way really fast. And then I basically just want
you to take over Star Wars news,if that works for you, because I
have so many things I want to hear you talk about.
The very Last of the High Republic came out like the final
(02:58):
comic is it is done right? Like that's it.
Well yes but no. But this phase that
theoretically is the last for a minute of the High Republic that
was pre planned is now done. I am sure there are other things
to look forward to, which Speaking of High Republic ish,
(03:24):
The Acolyte, The Crystal Crown by Tessa Gratton is out.
So that's super exciting. I'm seeing a bunch of people
reviewing it and saying they're really enjoying it.
So we'll eventually, we'll get there someday, eventually.
And Star Wars Sanctuary, the BadBatch novel is also out as of
today I think. I need to go pick that.
Up yeah, it's either today or tomorrow.
I might have but it's it's. I think it is today because
(03:46):
today is Tuesday, right? Usually drop on Tuesday is great
so. That is also out to so many good
books. And then the only other thing
that I had written down to keep it as short as possible is that
A New Hope is going to return totheaters for its 50th
anniversary celebration, which will be in twenty 27th.
So we'll repeat this news in another two years when we're
(04:07):
approaching Trials of the Jedi. We've forgotten we've already
talked about this before. Exactly.
Now that that's out of the way, I literally just want to hear
about freaking San Diego Comic Con because Oh my God.
It was so unbelievable. And you know, I had, we had
talked about this in the last episode about what I was going
(04:28):
to do and all the things and it did.
Even still, it did not prepare me for how phenomenal that con
is. It is unreal.
All of the vendors make these incredible booths that are just
like movie props basically. And just like, you know, like I,
I love Godzilla. So there's a massive Godzilla
(04:48):
vendor and like they had Godzilla everywhere.
And then there's like Lord of the Rings.
So they had a, a whole prancing Pony facade with Gandalf and all
the things. So it's just like it takes cons
to it the next level and there'sjust so much to see and so much
to do. You can't do do it all.
But I guess most importantly is all of the High Republic stuff
(05:11):
that happened that weekend. Oh my God, hit me.
OK, so I'm just going to say I didn't go to any of the panels
because I was terrified of spoilers.
And I talked to our friends withthe Starlight Archives podcast
and they said that there was no spoilers.
I could have gone whatever. But I did end up, I did end up
going to the High Republic signing on that Friday, which
(05:35):
was unbelievable. There was Harvey Talabout, Essa
Gratton and Ian McKay. I felt really bad because I that
name, I knew he had something todo with the High Republic art
and I could not remember what itwas.
And then I like after the cold, lovely conversation I had with
them. He's the concept, the original
(05:55):
concept artist for the High Republic.
So he's responsible especially for a lot of the villains.
So all of the concept art for the Nile and the Nameless.
And yeah, not only that, he doesconcept artwork for other Star
Wars projects, like he's responsible for Darth Maul and
(06:19):
the Night Sisters, Ray Skywalker.
Yeah, the amazing. Like just the best things.
Yeah, absolutely. So now I have like, Oh my God, I
just met this guy and I, you know, post all of that, another
amazing interaction with Harvey Talbot.
I've never met him before. And he was such an incredible
(06:42):
human being, you know, So we hadthis poster that you could pick
up and then they would all sign for you.
And so I hand him this poster and Harvey goes, oh, tell me who
your favorite adventures character is.
And I go, I have think for a moment.
I was like, Oh my God, I love Sav Malagon.
And he goes, Sav, you love Sav. And he got so excited, so
(07:03):
excited that he sketched her on my poster.
Can't handle that. I just sat there and I was like,
I think I'm going to. Cry no.
Literally like amazing thing ever.
How do you not cry? That's kind of the most
wonderful thing ever. I know I was just so floored.
And like I mentioned in our lastepisode, I was a volunteer.
(07:25):
I had to leave for my shift. So unfortunately I didn't get
Charles Sewell's signature that day.
But Saturday I was, I was just wandering around the halls
looking at all the things. And I knew that Mark Thompson
was going to be doing a signing at 3:00.
So I was hoping that I'd go overthere and check out the scene
and see what it's like. And I like Round the Corner and
(07:45):
I like basically run right into Charles Sewell.
I literally stopped dead in my tracks and go Oh my God.
Makes them feel like excited andgood that there are crazy Star
Wars people who recognize the authors because we love them so
much. Absolutely.
And he was another incredible human being to me.
(08:07):
I love chatting with him about the High Republic.
And he recognized me and knew that I had an Avar cosplay.
And we talked about that for a little bit and then we got
talking about the book and whether I had gotten to read
Trials of the Jedi yet, which I told him we hadn't gotten to
(08:27):
because, you know, things are slow and I, you know, whatever.
So, but that's neither here nor there.
I think he still was just like, so like, I don't know how to
describe it. Just like, I don't know.
It was such a great interaction. And at the very end he was like,
well, I can't wait to hear aboutyour thoughts on Trials of the
(08:50):
Jedi on the socials. Like I think he's mentioned
Instagram or something. And I was just kind of like, oh,
OK. I can't handle like, how did you
not just lose your mind? I did, which is why I called you
and then I couldn't even hear what you were saying and I was
just screaming at you. It was so good because like it's
so rare that I have a friend call me because we're all
(09:11):
millennials and we don't call ever.
It's like just texting, right? Or what a social is not.
So when you called me, I was like, Oh my God, something major
is happening and you looked the happiest I think I've ever seen
you in your life. It made my heart grow like 15
sizes. I just felt like I had a great
day after we got off our call because I was like Rachel just
(09:35):
got recognized by Charles Lowelland then had the most wonderful
interaction and everything is perfect.
It was amazing. It's just like one of those
moments where like text could not convey how incredible an
interaction that was. Oh my God, I am so glad you
called. Me.
Yay. Good.
(09:55):
So yeah, that was amazing. But unfortunately, I had missed
the for Mark Thompson's signing, you needed to get a ticket.
And that's another situation where I had to run to do my
volunteer shift. So I I missed Mark Thompson.
But later that day, so actually the whole con, my friend Steph
and I from the Glop Shadow podcast, we're trying to figure
(10:18):
out how the heck you get into Hall H and how the heck we were
going to be able to see George Lucas.
And at one point, it seemed so insane, like the queuing days
before sleeping overnight, it seemed so impossible that we
just gave up. Then like on Saturday, we kind
of like heard rumors of people like, oh, if you're there, you
can get a wristband right away. And so just come.
(10:40):
And so we ended up meeting up with our friends who were in
line and they saved us a spot sothat we could actually get a
wristband. To go see.
That panel and it was just like one of those amazing, like we're
just in the right place at the right time and incredible.
And then so the next day, Stephanie and I were in the
(11:04):
lined for George Lucas panel andI like look behind Stephanie as
we sit down in the queue and I'mlike, Oh my God, it's Mark
Thompson. How does that happen?
I have no idea and I just like freaking out and I was like.
Be cool, be cool. It's like you want to be cool
(11:24):
enough to not be crazy, but you also don't want to be so cool
you miss out on a cool opportunity.
Yeah, well, Stephanie was nice enough and said hello and we
recognized him and all the things that I would just
basically screamed and not screamed at the same time was
like, you're the best. And then I was like, don't say
anything more. I'm just going to like hide in
my corner. He was an amazing human being
(11:46):
that I tried not to bother as much as possible.
And then the the the final like Star Wars thing, not High
Republic and not really even Star Wars to be perfectly
honest. Was George Lucas's panel talking
about his new museum? Yes.
Did not mention Star Wars once, which I thought was really
interesting and I kind of liked because it taught it showed how
(12:10):
much like this museum meant to him on a grander scheme and the
museum is about narrative art and the the history of narrative
art going back as far as like Cavemen artwork.
And drawing to. Modern film, movies and comic
book arts and kind of making this museum more for the people
(12:32):
as opposed to like look at this fancy artist and like only like
really popular artists can be included in this museum.
It's like to try and like include all of these different
art forms that usually aren't represented in museums.
Well, and he could have made it all about Star Wars.
Like, people would have come just to see Star Wars stuff.
(12:52):
So the fact that he was like, no, I want this to be about
storytelling across the board. Yeah.
Not just about this universe I'ma part of, but the universe
everyone creates. And I love that.
That is really cool. And you got to see Guillermo del
Toro, which I. Did He's also an amazing
speaker. I yeah, I've watched his films
(13:13):
and they're not entirely my favorite things in the whole
world, but I really enjoyed him talking there and like the
things that he said about narrative art and storytelling.
And also he wanted a whole tirade about how AI is not real
art and you can't make art with a fucking app.
(13:33):
And I'm just like, yes. Yes.
It's like he's got special specific style that he's one of
those people that you either like.
Oh, man, and I just love this. Or you're like, I don't know,
stop me, you know, and that's OK.
That's the point of art, right? Is that not everybody looks the
same things. But the his storytelling and his
ability to make a narrative out of nothing is insane, whether or
(13:57):
not you do enjoy the final picture, you know?
And so I, I didn't realize he was going to be in that panel
until I saw it online. And then I was like, that makes
complete sense. Yeah, yeah.
It was George Lucas, Guillermo del Toro and Doug Chang.
It was a great combo. What an amazing panel.
Yeah, yeah. So All in all, fantastic.
(14:19):
First time at San Diego Comic Con.
I'm gonna go next year 100% and I will definitely volunteer.
I really enjoyed that, but I can't imagine anything topping
this year. I don't know, it was just so
amazing. I'm so glad you had such a good
experience, it's so cool. What was your favorite cosplay
that you saw? To be honest, I didn't really
see too many cosplays because I was in the vendor hall and it's
(14:44):
so packed in there that it's really not super safe for a lot
of the cosplays, and I ended up not cosplaying that weekend for
that reason. I probably could have.
It probably would have been fine, but I don't know.
People are and not I'd careless and I'd hate for something to
get ruined. Yeah, but trying to think of one
(15:05):
that like really popped out of my brain.
Or if it wasn't costly heavy, did you have a favorite thing
you bought while you were there?Oh my God, probably my 2 art
pieces that I commissioned. Yep, whip them out.
So I commissioned this beautifuldrain gear from Harvey Talbaugh.
Cannot believe you got that, I love it.
(15:28):
Look at that beautiful face. I was having a hard time
deciding cuz like you can ask him to draw anything and
obviously finances help dictate what level of item you get.
So I was trying to think of like1 entity that I really wanted
(15:48):
that you don't see very often. And like I was thinking like a
creature. But I don't remember Harvey
Talbot ever drawing like the nameless in the adventures.
But I do remember him drawing the drain gear and early like
Phase 1 stuff. And so I asked him to do that
one and he did a great job with it.
It's such a perfect choice. Exactly like you said.
We don't see drain gear art. That's not a thing that we
(16:11):
really get to see that we can purchase.
So I feel like that was the perfect thing to ask for, yeah.
And then the next one, it's already framed.
The frame for the drain gear is coming.
Is I got this Avar Chris commissions.
Oh my gosh. I can't remember her last name
but it's Amy something. OK found it.
(16:34):
So the artist is Amy Meberson. I had a friend that asked me to
go pick up some stickers from her, and I was looking at her
art and saw that she did commissions.
And so I asked her if she would do Avar Chris, because that's
another character that I don't see that often.
And she said that she would. And she's like, yeah, just pick
(16:56):
it up in like a couple hours. And I was like, OK.
And then she handed me in just afew hours.
She made this masterpiece. I can not what believe she made
that same day, huh? Me neither, I was so shocked.
It's really unique, it's really cool.
Like oh you, you picked the bestthings to get commissioned.
Thank you. So yeah, those are my two
(17:17):
favorite purchases from San Diego Comic Con.
I love, love, love San Diego Comic Con is super fun because
it's all-encompassing nerd dumb.And I like that because
obviously a lot of Star Wars people are not just into Star
Wars, they're into Lord of the Rings.
They're like Marvel or other things.
And so it's like you get to go here and see all of your
phantoms that you like, which issuper cool.
(17:41):
It's so cool. Yeah.
There's so many fandoms includedfrom like, anime, like
Nickelodeon was there and they were doing their Avatar the Last
Airbender. Yeah, 20th anniversary or
something. And Funko, of course, is there.
Popmart. I was actually working the line
for Popmart which was hilarious because I feel like I just
learned about La Boo boos from our friend from Frankie who was
(18:05):
like explaining what the heck they were because I was like
what are these weird monsters? I staff explained them to me.
Yeah, so I'm like yay la Boo Booexpert kind of.
And I was telling like I had like the end of the line and I
had the little pamphlet saying like, what was in stock?
And everybody would come up be like, what's in stock?
And can I see? And like they did be like, oh,
(18:25):
thank you so much. I'm like you're.
Just that's really cute. It's cute to watch people get
excited about something, even ifyou're like, I have no idea what
a la Boo Boo is. I don't get it.
But if you guys like it, go crazy.
Mm, hmm. Mm hmm, what a fun experience.
I'm so glad you guys had a good time.
Thank you. Yay.
(18:47):
Well that was the best of the Star Wars, I think.
On that note, unless you have anything else.
No, I mean I could probably go on and on, but I will not.
You should do a cute little likevideo about your like highlights
of San Diego Comic Con. That's a good idea, okay.
Okay, although I said I wasn't, we didn't have any more.
(19:08):
But if you don't follow Rachel, how dare you get off this
podcast. But if you don't, you should,
because you just posted the coolest photo shoot ever in your
Witch of Death mirror costume and it's amazing.
Thank you. Yeah, that was, I went to the
mountains with my family and I, my family like we've cosplayed
(19:31):
and done Renaissance Fair our whole life.
So like we're, you know, we're alittle odd.
And so I just kind of like was thinking about cosplaying and
doing a photo shoot. And I was like, I wonder if the
rest of my family would be into this.
And I just messed up. Like, you guys want a cosplay
photo shoot? And everybody was like, yes.
And so I was like, my sister didone.
Yeah, it was so great. My mom's loves photography.
(19:53):
So. She was like, I'll do all the
photos. This is very cute.
My God. We'll tell her they turned out
amazing cuz it's fantastic. I loved everything about it.
So yeah, everyone please go check that out.
It is super cool. And now that's the last of our
stories. The end.
No Moss, I swear. All right, so we're gonna get
into Tears of the Nameless. This is our Part 3, so I think
(20:16):
we said we're doing chapters like 28 through 41, something
like that. Yes, that's correct.
Perfect. And I was Uber excited that
we're starting off this section with Baby Boy Wreath because I
love him. I know I was kind of curious,
especially with the way the lastsection had ended with Wreath
and Komak going on this adventure together, you know,
(20:38):
Master Padawan duo reunited and like that rift between them and
also Wreath having this new found connection with Aslan and
what that would mean moving forward.
Like what was Aslan's reaction to hearing this?
Yeah, yeah, they they left. They left us.
We picked the chapters that we did last time, but we left on
(21:01):
this like place, right, of just so much uncertainty for so many
people. This is kind of like the tipping
point of this book, I think, where the ball gets rolling on
the rest of the stories. And I am.
I'm very excited to see where itgoes.
Yeah, because Wreath is standingright in front of Aslan's door
and he's debating whether or notto go in.
And like, we get this inner POV of what he's like thinking about
(21:26):
and he's like super nervous about talking to Aslan about
leaving. And we get to see some of the
vulnerabilities that Wreath has.And you kind of understand why
Wreath is. So it's such an easy target for
Aslan because he feels like he has no one to talk to and no one
really cares about him, which are all like lies, right?
(21:48):
He could easily talk to so many Jedi within the Jedi Temple, but
he still has this idea that no one one understands him.
It's the Padawan master thing. And it's like he has all these
friends and he has a bunch of masters.
He does look up to that he has good relationships with that you
can go talk to, but he doesn't have his master anymore, right?
So it's like I think he looks around and sees that special
(22:10):
relationship that all of his friends have and he doesn't have
that anymore. And not just that, but it's not
like his latest master chose to leave, you know?
And so I, I just feel like there's a special circumstance
where he's almost filling that particular role with Aslan or
like trying to, even though obviously that's not going to
(22:32):
work though. Yep, I completely agree it's a
very toxic dynamic. I want to know what this puzzle
box is, because naturally Aslan has to be doing something weird
every time Wreath walks in and he can't just be like, normal in
any possible way. He's working on this, like,
interesting puzzle box to the point that he doesn't even
acknowledge Wreath for a minute. He just like, keeps working on
(22:54):
the box. And I was like, OK, I deeply
appreciate that because that's how I am with my Sudoku.
Don't try and talk to me. But he does already know because
he seems to be one step ahead ofeveryone that Wreath is leaving.
So it's like the surprise is already spoiled.
It's not like Reese telling him something he doesn't know.
To me, it was very much like, and Wreath catches that Aslan
(23:19):
has this weird puzzle box and how did he get this puzzle box?
Who gave it to him? It's very bizarre.
And I think Aslan knows that it's weird and I think he got
the puzzle box in a very suspicious way and he's toying
with Wreath to see if he'll notice or say something about it
or do anything. And and Wreath doesn't he just
kind of looks at it goes that's weird.
(23:40):
And. Moves on.
Like I don't have time for this right now.
But Wreath, if you ask the rightquestions, maybe you'll get the
right answers. OK, in spite of like making fun
of Aslan, which is very fun to do, I will say I did really
appreciate this one thing that he said this one time.
I appreciate what he said, whichwas that Wreath is not
(24:02):
responsible for caring, guilt oruncertainty.
That's meant for someone else. And I really, really like that.
And he's talking about Commack and he's saying like Wreath
carrying around, right, all these feelings of guilt and like
not really understanding and sadness about what happened with
Komak. And Aslan's kind of like why?
That is literally for Komak to bear and he is the only one who
(24:23):
should be carrying that. And obviously that's not how
that works, right? Like you can't just not have
those feelings. But I do like the mindset of
like, wait, why is it that I'm putting this on myself when I
was not the cause of this situation?
So OK, I'll give I'll give snapsfor Aslan here.
I also feel like he's trying to like wedge the the rift between
(24:46):
Wreath and Komak further. He's.
Like. Komak is the one who left you
like you should be upset. It should be him that's upset.
Yeah, another one of those like I, I really like the thought.
I like the thing that you're saying.
But then when you dig deeper andlook at the intention, you're
like, never mind. Yeah, so Wreath admits to
(25:08):
leaving for Tolis. And Aslan just keeps gushing
about how amazing Wreath is, howWreath is the only one willing
to listen to him, and how Wreathmust be strong and recognize the
strength within him. And Aslan at the end says in
order for you to survive the SriKarai, you must embrace your
(25:28):
fear. He like stares at him creepily.
The Ruth Goes you're saying to embrace the dark side.
Yep, I know and. Aslan just smiles and turns back
to his puzzle box. OK, I don't want to go on for 20
minutes about this, but hear me out.
I I know that that's how Aslan is saying it.
(25:52):
Like Aslan is obviously pushing him towards this dark direction,
right? I don't personally view fear as
a dark side emotion. I know that's very controversial
in the Star Wars world because Yoda is literally like fear
leads to anger, anger leads hate.
But hear me out for a second group, which is that to me, the
dark side thrives on negative emotions and fear is not
(26:15):
inherently negative. No, I.
Agree, it's a survival instinct and it can be good and it can be
bad, it just depends on how you handle it.
So to me, I don't view fear as adark side emotion.
It certainly can be, but like ifyou're strong enough and you
know how to like utilize it properly, it will help you
survive, but it doesn't have to be a bad thing.
(26:37):
So for me, I hope that wreath goes that route of discovering
like, no, fear doesn't have to be this evil thing.
And the Jedi do tend to view it as this very black and white
evil thing. And I just don't view it though.
But I love that. That's perfect.
Totally. That would be amazing if Wreath
saw fear in that way. And I wanna say we've kind of
(26:58):
seen this with like Buraga, where he embraced his fear in
order to eventually, like, throwhis lightsaber at the nameless
and even like Elzar and Avar working together to embrace it.
So I think you're onto somethingwith Wreath, too.
And I really, I really hope. So I really hope so cuz I I want
(27:19):
him to survive if possible. That would be really great.
So thank you. George, everyone.
Yes, we're gonna only say nice things about our favorite
characters. Yeah, we're here for Yeah, Cuz.
As you'll discover by the time we get to the end of this
episode, we're batting. We're batting strong.
Our our hitting percentage is really high, and that's not a
(27:42):
good thing for the High Republic.
So we're gonna stop talking about Wreath in general and move
on to Chapter 20. Here we just go, tells Aslan.
He's talking about the dark side.
Just. Do not speak.
Walk away. Yeah.
I am so down for that. I don't want anything to happen
to baby boy. So this chapter, chapter 29, I'm
(28:07):
obsessed. With Vernestra, I am too.
Vernestra's being a creep. And I love it.
Literally. Also use the word creepier.
Did you? Yeah.
Cuz she's just like in a little like alleyway outside of Aswan's
cell, right? Hidden in like a dark shadow so
that the guard doesn't seem. Yeah, she does feel guilty about
(28:28):
it. Yeah, well, OK, she feels
guilty, but it all works out because originally she was kind
of creeping on Wreath, but in doing so, she actually ends up
finding out other things. So like, it works out in her
favor that she decided to do this.
I was still annoyed at first that she was creeping on Wreath.
(28:48):
In her head, she's just looking out for him.
But again, it's the infantilizing thing.
I hate it. Whatever.
But it's also that like, she's getting that feeling that Wreath
has also had that something is not quite right.
And she it hasn't gone away withthem discovering what was going
on underneath the temple. So she's like, what is the force
trying to tell me? And it's LED her to this moment,
(29:12):
right? Yeah, this moment is she sees
Wreath exit Aslan's room and scurry away.
And then like, like a minute or so later, she hears a knocking
on the door from the inside, andthe temple guard just kind of
like looks around from side to side, and then he turns around
(29:33):
and walks into Aslan's room. What?
What is happening? Temple guard with the lip is up
to no good. Yeah, he's in there for several
minutes. So like there's only so many
options to what is happening andthe majority of them are not
great for the Jedi at least so. I know totally.
Yeah, obviously this is sketchy town and when he comes out,
(29:58):
there's no like there's no acknowledgement of anything.
He just goes back to temple guarding as if nothing happened.
But it's also OK, so this is strange, right?
But it's also strange that the very same Temple guard is the
only one guarding Aslan. Everyone like Wreath has noticed
that's the tumble guard with thethe weird gait.
(30:19):
Vernestra has noticed it's a temple guard with the weird
gait. Is this even a temple guard?
This is the moment where I was like, Oh my God, this might not
be a freaking temple guard. Who is this?
Oh, and it's fine because Vernestra's on the case, but
this is so suspicious. Very short chapter, but sweet,
right? Short chapter and then we get a
(30:40):
big blaring part too. I know I was like, whoa.
I had forgotten there were threeparts in this novel, and here we
are. It's hard to remember because we
do our parts different, so it's like, well, we're on Part 3 and
then you just see a gigantic Part 2 and you're like.
Just kidding. We're on their Part 2 now, our
(31:01):
Part 3, so chapter 30. We've got Amadeo and it's not
necessarily a good situation cuzhe's feeling ominous, which is
never a good feeling if you're aJedi I feel like.
But he kind of chalks it up to like he's going on a mission
too. And so he's like, OK, well this
is just like the normal anxiety pre mission.
(31:23):
And I'm like, what if we didn't gaslight ourselves and we just
listen to our instincts because obviously you're feeling ominous
for a reason. But he doesn't.
He just brushes it off. And I was like.
I know, yeah. He's like hyping himself and
trying to convince himself that this mission is going to be a
success and he's like, this is going to be excess.
(31:44):
And he like walks to the ship and right next to the ship
there's this human woman and destroyed and their mercenaries
hired by the RDC. We find out later that the
woman's name is Ashton Vol and the Droid is L77 or Sevens.
And there's like this really funny interaction where Ashton
(32:04):
points out where Amadeo must be the padawan because he's the
shorter of the two. And Sevens, like gives her crap.
He's like, stop calling him short.
He's going to be self-conscious about this.
And the banter between them feltvery Cassian and K2 SO.
Yes, Oh my God, it does. And I I loved the banter because
it was like, Ashton is very any there's no filter just and she's
(32:28):
not trying to be rude. She just says things and doesn't
understand that it might be perceived as rude.
Whereas Sevens has this strong sense of justice about how you
speak to people and all the words you use.
So the fact that they ended up together somehow, I'm like, how
did this happen? I don't know, but I love it.
It's so great. Amadeo walks inside the ship and
(32:51):
gets overwhelmed by all the people that are moving about
getting the ship ready and he heads to the medical station and
meets the medical officer which is a young human man with a
Husky voice named Dorian Lines in Ines.
I don't know how to pronounce that his last.
Name. Yeah, it's so funny.
He's described in a lot of detail in this section, and you
(33:13):
know what I've said about that. What have you said about?
That, oh, the second you start describing a character
physically, that means the person perceiving them has a
crash on them or like, oh, yeah, thanks, they're attractive.
And sure enough, guess what? We find out our boy Amadeo is a
raging bisexual. And it makes me want to cry.
(33:33):
I was like, Oh my God, the representation.
I love it so good. So he's got a little it got a
little crushy crush on Dorian and I'm deeply excited by this.
I also was like, God, I hope that doesn't mean Dorians about
to come become a pile of ash. I'm sorry, I just did it again.
I'm sorry, I said. I wouldn't do it, damn it.
(33:55):
You're cursed, Dorian, no. Hey guys, I swear to God if the
next section I'm so sorry in advance.
I'm gonna call myself the like Angel of death if that happens.
Anyway, we'll move on from that and never speak of it again.
It's so good. I also love that his master Miro
(34:16):
walks in. He like notices Armadale's
really excited. He's like, yay, you're excited
about the trip. For sure.
Definitely. What's happening?
Yeah. Oh.
Well, we move on to Chapter 31 with our lovely pals aboard the
vessel. Oh Wreath finally made it to the
vessel and I love that AFY just like runs and gives him this
(34:38):
giant hug and she's just so excited and happy to see him.
It made my heart you feel so good.
Me too and Lyox and Geode are bythe boarding ramp and they're
they too are excited to see Wreath.
That's a nice reunion. And then of course like to
almost complete the the the vessel from phase one.
(35:00):
The group Komak walks up and checks to make sure that wreath
is ready and they all head inside.
Yes. Yeah, I guess I loved that once
they get into hyperspace, AFY and Wreath have this like catch
up session and it's really, really cute.
But then, as always happens, there ends up being like a semi
(35:22):
back and forth, not argument, but like, you know, a
disagreement about the route they're going to take.
And so, unfortunately, the wholevessel crew ends up in that
discussion, which leaves Wreath and Komak awkwardly twiddling
their thumbs together. Oh my God this scene is so
awkward. Yeah, I got second hand like
cringe from it. I did too.
(35:44):
Yeah. They, they start off with a nice
easy conversation about Tolis. Reed has taught is worried about
the the how this is all going tobe a wild Panther chase and how
he's like, cynical. Or rather, Commack notices that
Wreath is very cynical about thewhole thing.
And Coleman comments on this, and I like that Wreath just
goes, well, I was. I became cynical ever since you
(36:06):
left. I was really proud of him
because I feel like that's not normally the vibe he goes with.
But like, what did Komak think was going to happen when he.
Brought I agree. It was a very insensitive
statement for Komak to say because obviously Wreath and all
the other Jedi have been traumatized by the events that
have happened ever since Starlight Beacon.
(36:27):
So of course he's like negative and cynical.
And you walk into a bar or something and your ex is there
and they see you and they're like Oh my God, so great to see
you. Gosh, you really look like shit.
Are you OK? That's it's not like you and
you're like, remember that time?Do you remember when you dumped
me and then brought it up right now?
Like this is the exact same thing.
(36:50):
Yeah. This whole next section where
Komak is apologizing and it's he's trying to explain his point
of view where he's like, oh, I went through too much trauma and
I was not going to be the properJedi Master for you.
And I would have been like too much of A harm than good.
(37:12):
So that's why I left and. Yeah, it's not AI.
Don't know. It's not a great excuse, but.
It's not. It it's good enough for Wreath
in the sense that I think Wreathwas holding on to it as if it
was his fault and. I don't know if he's convinced
that it's still not. Probably not 100% but this this
(37:32):
has got to help, hopefully a little.
Bit I feel like Komak needs to say this multiple times, like
it's not your fault. It's not your fault.
I do want to mention that this interaction really highlighted
how young Wreath is. He's very much a little child in
this moment who's blaming himself or his parents
wrongdoing. And it's like, it's kind of like
(37:56):
interesting, but also hard to see Wreath like do this to
himself where he doesn't want toacknowledge that Komak is a
person and has faults and failures.
But you kind of like see him like start to like process some
of these words that Komak is saying.
And he's starting to realize, oh, if Komak has fears and
(38:17):
insecurities and the other Jedi that I've looked up to many,
many years also have fears and insecurities, Like, what does
that mean for my future? And, you know, he's like, very
freaked out. It's A, to me, it's good that
he's freaked out though, becauseit seems a little bit like he is
very much been deifying the Jediin terms of like looking at all
(38:38):
these masters as these infallible, perfect beings and.
As we all have, or we all tend to do.
Like this is like Luke Skywalkerall over again.
It is. Did you know guys that they're
just people? That make mistakes, it's OK.
Yeah. And so it's like, yes, it's
terrifying. Yes, he's so shook it by this.
(38:59):
I'm really glad he is getting tothis point though, because I
think for him, regardless of where he goes with his path,
this is a lesson he really needed to hear.
Yeah, I agree. So Komak at one point gets up
and he's like rummaging in his trunk looking for something.
And he admits that he's looking for this old, like, light Saber
(39:20):
that he found on one of the worlds he visited.
And this is where Wreath reachesinto his robes and he pulls out
Comax lightsaber and hands it tohim.
I can't believe Wreath had kept it with him this whole time.
Yeah, I was like, listen, buddy, that probably wasn't good for
you, but it does make for a verysweet moment.
Here's. Yeah, poor guy.
(39:40):
Poor guy. Oh, even better.
This next part where Komak turns, he's like, OK, well, I
have something for you and here is OK, so he doesn't call it
this, but it's 100% Solandra shows seal shield.
God, I can't speak. It is.
Without a doubt. Her shield.
I was so excited he found it on Batu.
(40:01):
I love it. Like he just knew it was
special, right? Like he felt something from it
when he saw it at this dealer and was like, this was a Jedi.
Yep, it's so cool, it's so cool.Makes me wonder cuz was it
Rupert who was handed the shieldafter?
Right. And so she's the last Jedi that
(40:23):
we knew that had it. I want to know what happened in
between Rupert and and Wreath. Like, what is this story in
between then? Yeah, I have so many questions.
Either way. I'm so excited that Wreath has
it. It's like the perfect person to
have the Jedi shield. It really is.
And it's, you know, I, I'll talkshit about Comac, but in this
(40:46):
situation, I will say it's just such a perfect gift for wreath
for many reasons. But also he was like, I just
knew you would have a really great time tracking down the
history of what this shield is and what it means.
And I was like, that is just so perfect for him.
So good. And then AFY walks in and tells
them that they are almost at Tollis.
(41:08):
That was so fast. The quickest trip to Tollis
ever. I kind of thought that there
would be like a scavenger hunt. They're like, maybe this
planet's tallest. No.
Maybe this planet is tallest. No.
But no, we just go straight to Tollis.
Thank you, George. We just for once, we needed a
straight shot, right? Yeah, So we go into chapter 32,
(41:29):
we're we're back with the creep creeper.
She has returned to the passageways below the Jedi
Temple. So yeah, I guess this is a
little. I don't, I don't know about
this. I know that you had heard we
were going to find out about theRose, right?
And about this whole. How did nobody notice that
(41:51):
marquee on dropped a bunch of blight everywhere?
So okay what I will say is in fairness, we as readers have the
knowledge that he can touch it and they didn't at the time cuz
Rineshra wasn't there yet. She was still in space, and so
all the people on the platform that greeted him, none of them
(42:11):
knew yet that he could touch it,right.
Yes. So I'm trying to justify it that
since Verneshka hadn't made it back yet, I guess that makes me
understand more that maybe nobody thought something he was
touching could possibly be the blight.
He did admit to being able to control the Blight, yes, so
maybe this was his demonstrationof that.
(42:34):
I was trying to give them the benefit of this because I'm
still obviously like, how did none of you notice that's what
he was doing? But for some reason, this whole
situation in this chapter made me think about it.
And I was like, maybe that's why.
It's because they didn't know hecould touch it.
But it did seem pretty straightforward.
Are you saying Marky on row is the temple guard?
(42:57):
OK, surely Vernesha would noticeif that beefcake be like, damn,
I don't remember this one. That would be kind of amazing.
So thank you for implanting thatinto my brain.
You're. Very welcome.
So I guess now that everybody knows the blind is underneath
the temple, what they're doing is taking shifts, and they're
(43:19):
doing what Buryaga came up with, right?
Like the slowing the progress ofit through deep meditation.
Obviously it's draining them a lot.
It is. It's incredibly difficult to do
and I love that they're taking shifts to try and like, prevent
the spread. What I don't love is the Jedi.
Of course, don't tell anyone that there's a problem.
(43:39):
No one knows. Oh, Rachel, this is great.
Control the narrative, ah. Yes, of course we don't want to
cause mass panic death in the streets by stampedes.
I have no. Idea.
I just think it would be terrible if more minds were
involved in solving this. You know?
That would just be awful. So instead you should just have
(44:01):
as limited number as possible. It sounds to me like the Jedi
are embarrassed that they have the blight in their own damn
temple and they're trying to hide it.
Well, they need to be embarrassed that nobody on that
platform noticed it. Was, I don't know, whatever
they're handling it. It's freaking Jedi.
(44:22):
I know. Anyways, yeah.
So Verneshra walks into the shrine, and she sees Master Yoda
and two other Jedi with him, andthey're all working to stop the
blight from spreading. And like, Yoda, like, opens his
(44:43):
eyes and looks at Verneshra and knows that she needs something.
And so they get up and, or rather Yoda gets up and they
walk to this other room. And so Yoda asked what is
bothering Vernestra. And Vernestra tells Yoda that
(45:04):
she's really worried about Wreath, that she thinks that
Aslan is manipulating him. And I love that Yoda's like he
she's right to like be worried about Aslan and that they should
trust Wreath. But also Yoda encourages
Vernestra to kind of like trust in herself too, and that she
will eventually follow this truth.
(45:24):
It's kind of like in riddles though, too, where Yoda's like,
OK, yes, I understand that you're worried, but you should
be worried. But also don't be worried.
And but follow the Force and it will take you to where you need
to be in some ways. Like Aslan and Yoda speak in
very similar ways. Literally, it was just thinking,
the reason that Yoda got bamboozled by Aslan, it's
(45:45):
because he was just like, oh, I love how you talk and wasn't
actually listening. I like that.
We got another round of you knowwhat you need to do because
that's kind of how he ends this time with her.
And he goes back to meditate on the Blight, but tells her like,
it's time for action, not rest for her and that she knows what
(46:09):
she needs to do. And I was like, there it is
again. Everybody has the, like, key to
what their little mission in their little bubble is.
And they just need somebody to kind of like push them towards
that and give them confidence togo for it.
Yeah, well, it works. It inspires Vernestra, and she
knows exactly what she needs to do, and she rushes off.
OK. Don't worry, we're not going to.
(46:31):
We're not going to get into that.
No, we're not. There are 20 missions happening.
I know it's interesting how thisstory has like fractured to all
these different storylines. Yes, normally it's like the mini
storylines coming together. This one is very much alike.
Yep, totally. Just that noise.
I can't wait to go back and listen to that.
(46:54):
It's going to be really appetizing.
Chapter 33, We're on board. Hopefully my computer got this
right. The Invictus, Is that the right
name? I love that name.
It's a pretty solid 1. What does it mean?
I actually don't that I didn't look.
It up I have no idea but I love it.
It's just the way it rolls off the tongue is very like, I don't
(47:14):
know, it reminds me of Inquisitive.
Like it gives me the same vibe as Inquisitor and I don't let.
Me see if I can find the definition.
Oh yeah. Oh, there is no definition.
There's just a film name. Invictus in 2009 with Morgan
Freeman and Matt Damon. Stop.
I'm going to be so mad at myselfif I've seen that movie.
(47:36):
And that's why I was like, I like that.
Well, we're on board the Matt Damon Morgan Freeman movie with
and it's a real weird vibe because everyone is either like
silent or sleeping or like meditating like Max Master
Locks. So it's just like everyone's a
little, I think on edge and justnot, there's no joy on the ship.
(47:59):
No, and I'm just going to spoil it earlier.
And the reason for that is because everyone on board is not
a soldier. These are not RDC soldiers.
They are just RDC volunteers. They go out on like little
missions to help give supplies and help move people from one
planet to the next. These people are not warriors.
(48:21):
Why were they chosen to go on this mission to go capture a
nameless? Are they?
Are they running out of people to help with this mission?
Like what? Legitimately everyone else has
been freaking. And the only two warriors here
are two mercenaries. That's it. 2 mercenaries.
That's it. One adult Jedi and one child.
(48:41):
Like guys, things aren't I don'tknow.
I don't know. I just, I don't know about this.
One, I don't know whatever what I did like about this chapter is
that Master Mira Locks is meditating and he's really
trying to find this way to like focus through the find a way to
(49:02):
focus through the psychological torment caused by the nameless.
And he's trying to find this like, touchstone thing that
allows him to like, see through the illusions, which is like,
so. Cool, that would be.
An amazing concept and it almostreminds me of like Buryagas like
ability to kind of like see through the illusions too.
So I wonder if like he used Yagas thought processes to come
(49:24):
up with this touchstone concept. No, I love that.
I think it's super cool. I I just, I really hope that
works out for them and Dorian desert of.
Tear laughter. Dorian notices Amadeo and like
comes over to chat and I'm glad that he did, not just to like
(49:47):
come flirt and be cute, but he also reveals that he's really
nervous too because he is just amedic, not a fighter, but that
he wants to help people and thisseemed like the best place to do
that. So, like, I think it was good
for Amadeo to have this other person that he obviously is
like, curious about be like, hey, I'm scared.
(50:09):
And it is what it is. And we might we might be dying
soon, but I think this is the right thing to do.
And I think Amadeo needed to kind of be reminded of why it is
he's doing this. Yeah.
Too that they begin to talk about fear and how Jedi handle
fear and Amadeo was like, yeah, we take fear and we put it on a
(50:30):
little box over there and we go there you go fear.
And they go about their businessand like that Dorian was like,
no, are you guys OK? Love Dorian so much in this
moment. He's like, that seems kind of
like you're ignoring it to me, which is not the same thing as
having control over it. And I was like, King, you
(50:51):
dropped your crown. I know, it's so good.
You're literally just building up trauma for later.
That's like what he says. And I was like, thank you.
Somebody is finally. Staying not madeo is just like,
yeah, that's why we meditate. It's fine.
We're pushing past it, not ignoring it.
And I'm like, what do you think pushing past it is?
(51:12):
I don't. OK, Amadeo, whatever.
Oh my God, this next chapter, Chapter 34, starts with our
wonderful friend, not friend Sicaris as he's eating a roasted
bird and he's so mad because theroasted bird tastes like ash and
his stupid human body is just terrible.
(51:34):
And yeah, this whole this whole chapter is like Sicaris
lamenting on how awful it is to be human.
Also, I had no idea he was human.
Did you know he was human before?
No, I don't, I don't feel like they ever like fully clarified
that like species or whatever 'cause I was wondering if he was
(51:56):
a Ptolemaid and like all this other stuff I didn't know, but
now we. Do well.
Well, they talked about how he had did he have purple skin and
purple lead? Was that what so?
I imagine and how he like grew up running around in tunnels.
So I'm like, is this just like acave human?
(52:17):
Like what is I know. I don't know.
Well, it's. And also he has a metallic eye
now. Is that new or did he always
have the metallic? Eye I feel like the metallic eye
is probably new. I feel like Bulin is just like
wild in now. And yeah, Sicaris is really
like, his brain is no longer attached to him anymore.
(52:38):
He's just kind of like, fragmented thought processes.
Fragmented. Like, he's like, he's like
somewhat in the past and somewhat in the present.
Yeah. It's so bizarre.
His mind and his body are not doing well, right?
And it's like, no, his body is telling him two different things
because his human part of his body is like, you need to eat
(52:58):
food, which is what he's trying to do, but he's got nameless
blood inside of him that's craving something else, which is
the force. But his body doesn't eat that
way. So it's like.
No. He's going to starve himself.
And it also seems like he no longer gets sustenance from the
food, so he's also wasting away like the nameless.
(53:19):
Yes cuz how is he supposed to? Like we we wondered if he could
harvest the forest and now we'reunderstanding that.
Like his body wants to, but it can't.
Yeah, we also find out that he still has EVE buyer on his ship.
He never gave her to Baron Boulin, and so she's just like
sitting in a cell and he's tormenting her every once in a
(53:40):
while when he feels like it and like maybe he'll kill her, maybe
he won't. I don't know.
Oh, Sicaris. I want to know though why
Sicaris didn't give Eve to BaronBoulin.
He wants so much to and I we know that he went to go visit
Baron Boulin in between when he picked her up and now, right?
Yeah, that's what I thought. And so I was like, why are we?
(54:02):
I mean, he says, like he's really bloodthirsty.
So like, he's getting a really horrendous amount of enjoyment
out of like, terrorizing her to the point that that's
overshadowing his loyalty to Boulin, which is crazy town.
Yeah. So yeah, he's waiting until he
(54:22):
gets information and can go hunt.
And he doesn't like the Nihil. So he's not like enjoying
camaraderie with his loyalty is only to Bulin.
But he does try to play nice with the Nihil because he
understands that Bulin wants Margie on row to be controlled.
And so he's got to like play this game with the Nihil.
(54:43):
But he I just love that Sikharisdoesn't like them at all.
It's like Sicarus, you're not exactly like Mr. Popular
yourself. No, I would definitely not.
Especially when this Thelothian Niall walks in and she tells
Sicarus that Baron Boulin wants to to visit with him.
And like Sicarus, his first reaction is almost panic like Oh
(55:07):
my God he's here and this Niall woman has to say no, no, he's on
the hollow. Just follow me.
And so Sigrist follows to the follows the woman to the hollow
and Baron Boulin is there and tells Sigrist that the force
user that he let go not could not capture like just willingly
(55:32):
was like here you go be free. I love that initial job.
Baron Buland explains that that Force user was actually a Jedi,
and it gets better or worse depending on who you're talking
to. Buland explains that there are
two Jedi on a ship headed for a planet in Wild Space called
Tolis. Buland has someone tracking
(55:54):
their progress and he'll send Sikaris the coordinates so
Sikaris can hunt them down. I want names.
I do too. Who is this informant and how
are they tracking the vessel? It's it has like it just has to
be Aslan somehow. I know, but the idea that Aslan
and Baird Bouen are working together is bonkers.
(56:15):
It is Aslan working with the nameless.
The the Nameless. Thing well the name the like
father of the nameless. Yeah, the the path of the open
hand. But Aslan is very much alike.
I will do whatever it takes to achieve the final goal, even if
I have to do all these awful things in between.
(56:36):
And it's like that's how he justifies everything he does,
right? Is as long as my end goal is
that I'm wiping out the namelessor like whatever, it doesn't
matter what I do in the in between.
I could see him justifying this to himself somehow.
I don't know if that's what his end goal is.
I mean, that's true. Yoda and Aslan went to go find
(56:58):
the device that Das and Spence used to go find Planet X, and
instead of letting Yoda find that, Aslan blew up a whole city
I. Know.
We're in another situation wherethey're on the precipice of
finding this the basically Planet X or the answers to
(57:22):
defeating the Nameless. And here's Aslan potentially,
again, kind of like stopping them from doing.
That, yeah. So it's like, is he doing that
because he thinks that's just the wrong way to go about it, or
is he stopping them because he has a different motive than the
one that we are aware of? And so it's, it's so hard to
catch on to what it is that Azim's doing.
(57:44):
I just have this feeling he's the he's some part of the
informant process because Reef literally just told him he was
going to. Tell.
I know, and I'm trying to think.I'm sure there's other Jedi in
the council that might have toldan aide, Eat or somebody, but a
Droid maybe. I don't know.
I don't know who this informant.Is I know so.
(58:05):
Crazy. We'll find out at some point, I
suppose. Of course, like moving on to
Bulan's instructions for Sicaris's.
Sicaris must murder these two Jedi because they're too
troubling, found out too much information, etcetera, etcetera.
Yeah. Also, do you think this is
what's wrong with the vessel? Is this little tracking device?
(58:26):
Oh. I didn't even think of that.
Oh that hurts my. Soul, I know.
That would make total sense. Though, Yeah.
Shit. Because they would then know if
they've been tracking the vesselfor a while, then they would
know where the Jedi are, becausethe vessel's been dropping Jedi
(58:46):
at different planets. It makes sense because that's
that would make sense why they knew where Eve and Zaf were.
Well this is depressing. Chapter 35 Speaking of.
Favorite ship? The vessel They have a ride on
Ptolets. Yay.
I know, I guess most of it is submerged under this single huge
ocean, which I feel like we remembered hearing about during
(59:09):
all of this. Talk of like the Ptolemites is
that at some point they had a big flood.
Yeah. And so a lot of stuff is now
underwater and seeing that. City of Atlanta.
Literally there were so many Atlantis vibes in this entire
section but Reef is looking out the window and is like oh that's
not making me feel great about the odds if the things we need
(59:32):
to find or the thing they need to find which is this repository
is underwater. And they didn't bring any
submersible vessels like the vessel is not a underwater.
Vessel No, I don't even think they brought pubic air, Rachel.
Like it's this was just really poorly planned.
It really was. I agree.
(59:54):
They do see a small landmass andare like, gosh, I really hope
that it just so happened that the land that does still exist
has exactly what we need on it. And I will say I want a picture
of this place 'cause it's like an archipelago basically, and it
sounds kind of beautiful and wonderful.
I agree, it really does. Yeah, they see like remains of
(01:00:17):
ancient structures. And at some point, Master Komak
does feel something while they're flying around the
islands and tells Wreath to reach out.
And Wreath feels this like overwhelming sense of peace and
that there must be something wonderful here.
And I was like, OK, we're we're on a positive track.
(01:00:40):
But of course, right it it's ruined immediately, right?
It really is ruined immediately. You're like, wow, beautiful and
a death because the blight is here too, no?
I know can't go anywhere. Although I, I was really
intrigued by this moment becausethey're looking at the blight
and how awful it is. And suddenly Reese notices that
(01:01:04):
there's these like, like this type of like stone or ore that's
coming out of the blight that's like crystalline and is not
affected or doesn't appear to beaffected by the blight.
Reese freaks out. He needs a sample immediately.
He, I feel like he's at the point where like he wants his
sample so badly, he's going to go and rabbit right in the
(01:01:24):
middle of the blight. Thank God for everybody else cuz
they're all like no, no, we're not doing this.
But like, I felt the excitement this moment.
This might be the thing the Ptolemites found that could stop
the blight, Right. And so Reef is on that track of,
like, we need to go blast the rock.
And it's like, you mean blast the blight all over the place,
vaporize it into the air. Reef, honey, slow down.
(01:01:47):
Yeah, but like, herein lies the issue, right?
They're supposed to go find thisrepository, which should have
the actual answer to the thing, but they also might have just
found the answer without going there.
So it's like, what do they do here?
And they make the worst decisionever.
The thing that I've said over and over again, you do not do,
(01:02:08):
which is split up split. Up.
They're like, don't worry about it, NBD wreath you and.
No one is here. Yeah, no one's here.
What kind of possible it is? Possibly go wrong and so the
vessel crew is going to go harvest this mineral thing and
rethink Komak are going to go look for the structure and I was
like please don't but they're they're going to that's.
(01:02:31):
Their best idea? I do love that Leox ads.
Like as soon as they get their samples they're gonna go hang
out and orbit they. He wants nothing to do with this
blight or be anywhere near it. He's like you 2 Jedi.
Tell me when you're done and we'll come pick you up.
Other than that, see you later. One like Geo doesn't have digits
(01:02:52):
that can just be conveniently axed off.
He's just like a slap. I know what happens if.
Yeah, like if Geode gets blighted, Geode's done.
There's no whopping off body parts for Geode.
He is the body part. So I'm totally with Geode on
this one. Yeah, well, we moved to Chapter
(01:03:14):
36. We're with Mira, Lox, Amadeo and
the crew aboard the Invictus, and they're all discussing this
plan to attack the Nile base. Again, these are volunteers, not
warriors. The two mercenaries, the only
two aboard, are Ashton and Sevens.
Again, they're very confused on how to handle the Jedi,
especially with their sword. I want to say disadvantage.
(01:03:37):
Yeah, nameless. And luckily, they eventually
asked what the Jedi want to do. And the Jedi are like, yeah, we
want to be part of the first round, tacking the Nile base.
We'll attack over here while youguys go to where we think the
Nameless are going to be again splitting up.
And not just splitting up, but splitting up, not actually
(01:03:57):
having a clear picture of what'sgoing on.
Yeah, they're taking wild ass guesses to where the nameless
might be on the space. Yeah, and again, the RDC are
just volunteers. I can't get over this.
It's not the best plan I've seenexecuted in Star Wars.
It's not the worst plan. Oh.
My God, I can't. I like that the they're like
(01:04:18):
great solid plan. Let's go in and the Victus like
flies in and like none of the Nile alarms go off and all is
quiet. Well, and I'm wait, yeah, Amadeo
is like, wow, they're just such great pilots.
My heart started getting tight here.
This whole next couple couple ofchapters are very stressful.
(01:04:41):
Yes, they are. Yeah, so they all disembark,
head their separate ways. Once Amadeo Master Locks reached
the edge of the camp, Amadeo reaches out to the forest to
sense what's ahead of him. He notices 19 people inside the
closest building. And then he, like, goes to reach
further. That's when he spots the
nameless. It's like this instant pain and
Amadeo not only notices them, but also notices that the
(01:05:04):
Nameless are hungry and also know that the Jedi are here.
Yep, this would have been a really great point to be like,
OK, we've got to go, this is toodangerous.
Yes, because at this point the nameless know you're here and I
just feel like I don't know how the setup works, you know?
But have you seen that video going around the lizard hitting
(01:05:25):
the button going lizard, lizard,lizard.
I'll send it to you later. Don't you worry.
Well, for everyone that has, I just feel like the second the
nameless sensed that they just start hitting a button and
they're like Jedi, Jedi, Jedi and the nigh hill around are
like, oh, no problem. And just like let them go.
That's what I imagined in my head.
(01:05:46):
So I was like, no, no, no. As soon as you know, the
nameless know you're here, you have lost your element of
surprise. I know.
Amadeo doesn't talk about this to Miro right?
Well, because I feel like he doesn't want to feel like he's
being a baby or that he's like holding the mission back.
(01:06:07):
And it's like Amadeo, if you seesomething, say something.
I know. Nope.
So yeah, they they jump over theperimeter wall and prepare to
attack and their their whole jobis Jedi since they're quote UN
quote staying away from the nameless are to distract the
nigh hill. That is like their whole thing.
(01:06:28):
But Amodeo doesn't want to kill anyone too.
So it's just like sad situation of having to acknowledge like
the nigh hill. Don't just give up when they're
cornered. You are going to have to accept
that you will be killing people today.
This is a child. Yeah, child guys, but you know
it is what it is. Master Locks lights a Saber and
(01:06:50):
the second the night he'll spot the light, the blaster fire
starts. And the very last like sentence
of this damn chapter is Amadeo being like, OK, it's time, but
also having that nagging sense in the back of his head that
something is wrong here. And it's like, it's not a it's
not a spoiler, Amadeo. It's the nameless.
(01:07:11):
We'll just the nameless aren't right here.
Yeah, no, they're not. Oh God I hate this.
Same. Hate this for Amadeo so much.
Yep. Well in chapter 37 we move back
with Komak and Wreath as they are searching the ancient ruins.
I guess there's like all these giant snails.
Like sea snails? Yes, they said.
(01:07:33):
Really cute, but Komak is pissedoff that they haven't found
anything yet and he makes a jokeabout how they're only seeing
rocks and snails and Wreath laughs at it and comas like oh
it's all good to see you laughing again.
OK, Komak. I know.
I for 1:00 AM delighted by rocksand snails, but whatever.
(01:07:53):
I like that Komak admits to havelike, he uses this as an
opportunity to say that he's very worried about Wreath and he
has been worried about Wreath ever since he came back.
Also like you're just now worried about Wreath, whatever.
And he tries to get Wreath to open up and talk to him like
they used to talk prior to Starlight Beacon.
(01:08:15):
Wreath doesn't have anything, doesn't want anything to do with
this. And even like Commack priced a
little bit about Aslan and how he knows that Wreath and Aslan
are talking and Wreath shuts that down too.
He's like, we're not. This is not a topic of
conversation right now. Yeah, he doesn't.
I mean, he doesn't want to defend his choices.
Yeah, and he shouldn't have to. And I think, yeah, I so Wreath
(01:08:36):
has been defending his choices left and right with the Jedi.
And what he needs is someone who's understanding and
accepting of his choices. And I don't think he's in a
headspace where he thinks that Komak will do that for him.
And Komak may or may not like, Kilmak actually might be a
really good listener and be super understanding and be like,
oh, OK, like, why? I understand why you did that.
(01:08:58):
But Wreath is not ready to hear that from him.
So I just deeply appreciate thatWreath's way of getting out of
this conversation is to just jogahead like you might as well
have whipped out the finger guns.
Reef so good. So good.
Yeah. Both Komak and Reef head to the
the water's edge. Reef sits down and opens up to
(01:09:20):
the forest. And Immense immediately senses
that something very strong in the forest is nearby.
And it's got lots of vibrant colors.
And Reef notices that it's thesegiant, massive creatures that
all of the mountains in the distance are actually the bodies
of a slumbering animal. I got so excited.
(01:09:40):
I was so excited. Are they like giant tortules or
something? Right.
And they're like so rich in the forest that it feels like too
much to even comprehend when he's meditating, which is crazy.
It's so cool. Well, meanwhile, Komak has found
the repository. It's down below the ocean,
(01:10:04):
naturally, and Komak can feel itcalling to him.
So this is where I like, oh, we're gonna dive down and do
some scuba diving and look for it.
But no, no. Komak has another idea and that
is to use the force to bring therepository up to them.
I was like, listen, I know that makes sense, but I also wanted
them to go on a little. I did too.
(01:10:24):
Oh. No, I'm just thinking it would
have been fun. All right, well Chapter 38
Amadeo is in the middle of a fight and as predicted the Nihil
are fighting to the death. They are not going quietly and
there may be a few more than 19 that might have been a miss
(01:10:47):
sense. I think there's significantly
more than. 90 like a lot like a good bit, and I'm sure this is
the moment when he's like might have fucked up a little, but
then I will release a bunch of gas canisters and surround them,
which forces Amadeo and locks back-to-back.
I'm not going to lie, even though I was stressed, I did
kind of have this moment of OK, but this is their element,
(01:11:09):
right? Like these two are very good at
fighting physically together. And I was just like, no,
everything, everything's going to be fine.
And Master Locks was also chill about it.
And they put rebreathers on and then I hill are all like close
it up the circle, right? And Amadeo's getting tired and
he gets shot in the shoulder. So like a lot of stressful
things are happening, but I kindof knew what was coming next,
(01:11:32):
which is that Master Locks was like doing a signal for one of
their crazy maneuvers. And so it's like, cool,
everything's going to be fine. They're going to do this.
The new room. It's going to be great, right?
Oh, yeah, totally. You know, Amadeo spins mirror
into the Nile, several go down. It's totally great.
And that's when Ashton comes in.I guess there's like explosions
happening. So Ashton comes in, says that
(01:11:55):
they've made it into the outpost.
I also was like, this feels likeseveral minutes later you just
now got in. It does and I don't know why.
OK, all dears. It's like Ashton pick up the
pace, man. I know.
And Amadeo feels hopeful until he hears this loud roar and this
(01:12:18):
giant behemoth Doaton walks in and for a moment I was like Oh
my God, it's Pan Ada. I got very excited.
I was like, my favorite fancy Doaton is here but no, it's not
him. It's this the Nile keep chanting
Bulgar over and over. It's like this like.
I was cracking up. Bulgar, Bulg.
(01:12:41):
It's so good, it's so good. And even better, Bulgar picks up
an unconscious Nile and begins batting at the Jedi with this
body. I am kind of obsessed with this
Nile. Yeah, he's great.
And that's when Amadeo Miro do another really cool maneuver.
It's very similar to what we sawwith the reptile earlier.
(01:13:02):
And Amadeo goes flying at the Doatin and kills it with one
stroke of his lightsaber and Doatin falls dead.
Goodbye. Goodbye, Olgar.
We missed you. We only had you for a short
while. And then the best, worst part is
that's when Ashton comes in to tell the Jedi that they're too
late. The Nile have already set loose,
(01:13:23):
they're too nameless and she screams at the Jedi to get out
of there. And I was kind of like, it's too
late. Like we all know it's too late
now. Yeah, it should have been in the
meeting. It took 1/2 an hour.
Yep, yes. Immediate turn around the 2nd
that they knew the nameless knewthey were there like that should
have been it. And as soon as they were like
yeah they're out. I was like, it's I don't see how
(01:13:45):
this is going to go a good way. Yeah, I agree.
It's so heartbreaking. It's so heartbreaking.
I'm glad we got a little break from that because I, I needed to
exit that chapter and go over toChapter 39.
We're back with Master Komak andhe is centering himself to
prepare for the feet of pulling the repository out of the water
(01:14:05):
and just telling Wreath to trustin the force and the intentions
of the Ptolemaic. Which makes sense because, like,
it's obvious they wanted this place to be found because they
put basically their cultural history in this place.
What's the point of that if nobody ever finds it?
So, like, it's got to be something they can accomplish
and they pull out a good do or do not.
There is no try, you know, love, love, love.
(01:14:28):
And Master Komak tells the Reef he's proud of them, even if they
don't manage to do this. And I was like, why you do this?
I did get kind of nervous because they, like, raise their
hands and reach out and shut their eyes and all that good
stuff. And Wreath does sense it.
And they are able to, like, grasp it and start lifting it.
(01:14:48):
But Wreath is straining and he feels like he's pushing himself
to the limit. And so I kind of was getting
worried because of how much pressure he's been under and how
kind of emotionally exhausted he's been.
I was like, I don't know that hecan actually do this.
And I think Reef is kind of alsoon that train of thought in this
moment, right? Totally, Yeah.
His heart is racing and his whole body is trembling from the
(01:15:11):
effort, and eventually somethingsnaps and collapses, and Komak
stumbles to his knees. He, Komak is struggling to
breathe. They're both like, I was like,
Oh my God, like, what broke thisconnection to the force?
Like what? His rotator cuff, like, yeah.
(01:15:32):
I don't know. His heart exploded out of his
chest. Who knows?
But now, at least we had. We don't know what broke yet,
but we do know is that they did it.
The structure, the repository isup and out of the water.
I know I'm glad cuz Wreath was so sure he was like apologizing
(01:15:53):
that he couldn't do it. I know, poor guy.
Yep, and Wreath and Komak take some time to recover their
strength before heading inside, letting the Force guide them
where they need to be. I'm so excited about this.
Love me a good Indiana Jones moment.
Or Atlantis, the lost city. Slash Atlantis the lost admirer.
(01:16:20):
Well, chapter 40, we go back to our favorite creeper, Vernestra.
She's back in her hiding spot. She's staring at Aslan's door.
The temple guard is standing in front of it once again.
This time it's like in the middle of the night and again
Fernestra hears a knocking on the door.
The temple guard looks both ways, opens up the door and
(01:16:40):
walks in. And this may be nervous cuz
Venestra walks over to the door to try and listen to any
potential conversation. I was like, you're too close to
the door, go away. I was like, no, see you, thank
you. But Verdister can't hear
anything and then she notices like from one of the door doors
like nearby that a light goes on.
(01:17:02):
She's like that's weird. She goes over to inspect it and
she notices inside there is a long range comms unit and she
immediately knows there's a traitor in their midst.
Yep. So thankfully we kind of semi
get an answer. Like we can piece together
what's happening. Like we still don't know.
(01:17:23):
Well, we still don't know the temple Guard is, but like,
obviously Aslan is feeding the Temple Guard information.
I'm assuming that the temple guard is then using this radio
set up to call Bulan. Like we don't know why we don't
know who this person is, but like, at least we know this is
semi. OK?
At least that's what I think so,yeah.
(01:17:44):
No I I just need more information.
Vanessa's on that train of thought, too, because she
doesn't want to like, yeah, she's not like me making
accusations, right? I'm just, like, guilty.
Vanessa's like, OK, you know, ifI'm going to go to the council
about this, I need to make sure that I know what I'm talking
about. I just don't start, like,
(01:18:06):
flinging names around. So that's fair.
That's fair. It's just that, you know?
But also dangerous. Yeah, that too.
Because she goes and stands in front of Asthma's door and waits
and the door opens. The temple guard walks out as
she ignites her light Saber and she just tells the temple guard
that they need to talk. Love love, love love.
(01:18:28):
I really love this because I just reread the latest Legacy of
Vader in preparation for the onethat's coming out tomorrow.
And the very last panel is basically this exact same thing.
And I had forgotten about it, but there's a character, really.
Yeah, there's a character who literally lights a Saber and
(01:18:50):
says we need to talk at the end of that.
And so I just reread that today. And so then rereading this
again, it was like, oh, that's into the exact same way.
That's really. Cute.
That's so cool, I love it. I deeply wish that we were
ending on that cute little mystery.
We're not. What are you?
Talking about that's the end of the podcast.
Goodbye. That's actually the end of.
(01:19:10):
Us for listening. It all, we appreciate all your
support. The High Republic ends on a
mystery, and that's okay. So no, actually it's chapter,
it's chapter 41. Here we are, Amadeo's freaking
out much like we were reading this, because Amadeo knows
exactly what's up and he's like,we, we, we got to go right now.
(01:19:33):
But Master Locks is already staggering and looking confused
and I was like, yeah, I have a feeling this is going to be the
worst chapter ever. And he tells Amadeo to run and
Amadeo can feel them and the fear and how close they are to
them and he's fighting for control but he crashes to the
floor and his vision is like blurring.
(01:19:54):
And at this point I was like OK well the waterworks are already
starting because I was like Ambeo is about to be a dust
pile. I don't know where your is at
reading this, but. Yeah, 100%.
Yeah, I, I finished my notes at when the Nameless got there and
I was like, I couldn't even takeany notes reading the rest of
this chapter because I was just so on the edge of my seat the
(01:20:17):
entire time. And the, the hard part about
this chapter is that we're in Amadeo's point of view.
And so we don't really know what's happening.
Amadeo is hallucinating. And so we don't get a clear
picture of anything. But we hear, we have like a
little bit of context clues, right?
So we hear Master Locks bellowing defiantly and
(01:20:38):
something bounding into the room.
And like I from what I've read in here is that Miro found a way
to fight back the nameless right?
Yeah. And not only that, but he like
physically put himself in front of Amadeo because I mean, Miro
at least has a wherewithal to understand that Amadeo is on the
(01:21:00):
floor and literally tearing his hair out.
And God, it's so awful. Crying and terrified and like I
know both of us love Amadeo because how could you not love
Amadeo? And just the like mental image
of him being so afraid is already really hard to read.
It's like the combination between Amadeo and Marrow
(01:21:23):
fighting for Amadeo. So incredibly like we've seen so
many Jedi like fall to dust immediately at the nameless for
some. Like somehow Mero found a way to
find his touchstone and is able to like work through.
The fear of the nameless to like, rescue and save Amadeo is
just gut wrenching. When I couldn't help but
(01:21:45):
thinking like, is Amadeo the touchstone?
Oh, I love that. You know, it's like, oh, that's
perfect. The thought of like I just have
to save Amadeo is the thing thatallowed Miro to push through
enough. You know what words with
Berryaga, right? Because it was his.
It was his fear for bell, Bell for bell.
Yeah. Wow.
Yeah. So this is a yeah, this is a
(01:22:07):
pretty emotional 1. And Amadeo is so sure he's going
to die. And he even feels something grab
him. And I was like, well, this is
it. And his head thuds against the
ground and he just goes black. And so this is the problem,
right? Is we're in Amadeo's POV and now
we're also in the state of not understanding what has just
(01:22:28):
happened. Yep, Yeah, yeah.
Amadeo eventually comes, too, and he kind of like, eventually
realizes that he's safe and thatone of the RDC volunteers was
able to pull him to safety. And Amadeo can hear a blaster
fire and something screeching. We find out that Ashton Simmons
and the other RDC made it back to the Jedi to help them out.
(01:22:50):
And currently Master Locks in the RDC are still battling the
Nameless. But finally screeches and then
falls silent. And Amadeo feels immensely
better. And Amadeo is able to shakily
get to his feet and make his wayforward.
And Amadeo spots one of the Nameless.
So there's two, right? So one of them has been killed
and the Droid Sevens is standingover that dead body and the
(01:23:12):
other nameless has been stunned unconscious.
So success. And it's Ashton, the RDC
volunteers and mirror. Kind of like in a semi circle
around it. Yeah, And Master Locks is there,
and he's standing facing this creature, right with his back to
Amadeo. And Amadeo calls for him, but he
(01:23:34):
doesn't answer. He doesn't move.
And the RDC is like doing their thing.
They're dragging the stun Nameless away.
And I think in Amadeo's head, he's like, well, Master Locks is
just so frozen up with fear, youknow, that he's not paying
attention. He's just like, you know, in
that state which we've seen. But then he sees his head kind
of twitch in the way that he starts turning towards Amadeo is
(01:23:57):
just not natural the way he's moving.
And when he fully turns around, we just have Amadeo screaming
because yeah, Master Locks has only one eye left and it's
looking right at Amadeo as the rest of his face crumbles away.
(01:24:22):
This is literally the fucking worst.
It's so awful. It's so bad, Rachel.
I was so shocked. I was like, Oh my God, he's
standing. It's fine.
He's fine. Yeah.
And like, he's turned off. Like, no, he's not fine.
He's dying. And I just like the strength it
took to keep himself up that long despite his whole body
(01:24:46):
turning to dust in order to saveAmadeo and complete the mission
was just like, I can't even fathom it.
When he got to see Amadeo one last time.
Yes. And that's great and I love that
for him. But Amadeo has to watch the rest
of him crumble away, so it's like one of them got a really
(01:25:08):
nice victorious moment before becoming one with the Force and
our little baby sweetheart Angel.
Amadeo just saw literally the worst thing he's ever going to
see in his life and he tries to run for him but he stumbles and
just like can't even breathe andessentially knocks himself out.
(01:25:28):
Poor Amadeo I I have 0 words forthis scene.
This was so awful. I always want to know if the
writers are OK because like, they have created these
characters, like we feel, you know, so much attachment to them
as readers. I can't even imagine how tenfold
it is as a writer. And so I'm like, George, were
(01:25:51):
you, were you just like doing tequila shots?
Like what? How did you, how did you make it
through this? Because I barely did.
Yeah, this. Was so awful.
I I can't believe Miro died. I you know like we, we joked in
our last episode like nothing can bad can happen to Miro.
(01:26:13):
We love him so much and to have him die this way was just awful.
Yeah, re listening back to that when I was editing, I wanted to
slap myself. It's like, damn it, I.
Know he was such a good Jedi. He was such a good Jedi and even
I think he was almost even a better master than he was a
Jedi. He was just such a good master
(01:26:37):
to Amadeo and. The way that they worked
together, they were always together, always and like
everything. And the way they fought, the way
they moved was so like grounded and like them working together.
Like I can't even see Amadeo moving forward from this and
like be able to fight again normally without without that.
(01:27:00):
Yeah, you do. Like, how do you when you've
been that? So like, this is the problem
with the Master Padawan relationship, right, is that you
can get to this level of closeness, but then lose that.
And it's like, how do you move forward from that as a kid?
Kid, I don't. Know.
Oh my God, I don't know. Oh and it don't worry, it just
keeps hurting Amadeo. Amadeo literally wakes up
(01:27:24):
screaming at some point and he is now on the ship on a Gurney
and he looks around for Master Locks before remembering that he
gave his life to protect Amadeo. And Amadeo like knows what he
needs to be right now, which is like strong and like staying
focused and helping the cause but like he feels so empty and
(01:27:46):
cannot stop crying and it's justsuch a sad situation.
And it gets even worse somehow because he has this thought
where he is like Oh my God nevermind everything is fine.
That was all a hallucination from the Nameless.
And I was like, you know, buddy,I really wish that was true.
I did too, but unfortunately, Dorian walks in and the
(01:28:09):
expression on Dorian's face let's Amadeo know that no, his
master is completely gone and Dorian just apologizes for his
loss. And Dorian has a beautiful words
about how difficult it is to lose someone and how difficult
it is to make sense of the Galaxy without them in it.
And it was just like the perfectthings Dorian could have said to
(01:28:32):
Amadeo in that moment. It was like, it's not
reassuring, you know? It's like not saying Oh well,
you'll feel better in a couple years.
Like it get better. It's literally like it might not
get better. It sucks and it's going to be
confusing. Yeah, it's just that thing of
like, sometimes it's better to hear that you're not alone than
it is to hear that things are going to be OK weirdly, because
(01:28:55):
it's never going to feel OK in this moment.
But hearing that somebody else understands how you feel weirdly
feels better, at least to me. Well.
Yeah, definitely. I agree.
Yeah, yeah, Amadeo is not OK. Amadeo, of course, you know,
Doran is checking him over, making sure that he's OK.
And it was like, yeah, I'm fine.I think the effects of the
(01:29:16):
Nameless are wearing off and I'll be fine.
And Dorian looks at him like no.Don't think so.
Absolutely not. And that's when Ashton walks in
with Sevens. She too, apologizes to Amadeo.
Especially I, I did appreciate this because there was a moment
where I was like, Oh my God, Ashton.
Like she's with the Nile. This was all like some crazy
(01:29:40):
sabotage. Oh.
Yeah, but I did appreciate that Ashton was apologizing and told
Amadeo that they were supposed to be there for the Jedi and
they weren't. And yeah, and then Ashton, that
goes on to explain that there's been a slight change in plans.
(01:30:01):
This was also really nerve wracking to me, too.
I was like, Ashton is for sure with denial.
Yeah, it was still like, wait a second.
But yeah, I guess they they shipped the Nameless off the
course on a board, that little shuttle that was supposed to be
within the Invictus with the other volunteers.
Can't get over that, but Ashton wants to show on Madea or
(01:30:23):
something and this little hollowprojector pops out of sevens
chest and it's the recording of Baron Boulin and it's only his
side of the recording, right? So we don't get to see who Baron
Boulin is talking to. And it's Baron Boulin talking to
Sicaris that we know, and how there's these two Jedi and
they're heading to Tolis and howsomeone must eliminate them
(01:30:47):
because they're finding out too much information.
Yep, This is crazy how they brought this back, back
together. This was a couple chapters ago.
We heard this conversation happen from stickers aside.
Yep. And now we know what's happening
here and they're just hearing that someone is going after
Wreath and Komak and it. You know, as much as I'm like,
(01:31:09):
OK, well, obviously Amadeo needsto go to therapy immediately.
I will say in the context of this fantastical world where
they don't go to therapy, obviously it kind of was perfect
timing in the sense that it snaps Amadeo into place because
in his mind, he's like, OK, well, if Reece and Komak fail,
(01:31:30):
Master Locke's death was for nothing.
And so it's very much this thingof like, he cannot handle
something happening to them too.And that being the case.
And because of that, it's sort of this like major motivation
for Amadeo so that when Dorian is like, hey, we're all here
because we wanted you to be ableto decide what to do with this
(01:31:51):
information. And I don't.
If he hadn't heard this, do you think he would have made the
same decision? About going after a wreath in
Komak. Yeah.
No, I don't think so. Right.
He would have just gone back to Coruscant.
He's like, OK, time is up. I'm, I'm really sad.
I'm going to go. Just gonna go roll around in the
(01:32:13):
blight. Yeah, yeah.
But yeah, it's like he hears this and instead it's like he he
knows so clearly what he has to do.
It's like everyone's getting their There's strong motivation
here, and he wants to tell the Jedi Council that there's an
informant in their midst becausehe hears that as part of the
(01:32:35):
conversation. But beyond that, he wants to go
to Tullis and he wants to save his.
Friend, I love it, Yeah. Wow.
Part of me is like why did we have this second group that had
to go after a nameless? Especially knowing Beware the
Name, the story Beware the Nameless was so successful.
(01:32:56):
It felt like this story was so pointless.
And in a way, it kind of is a plot device in order for them to
get to this little hollow from Baron Bulens, right?
Amadeo could then follow Wreath to go help him out.
I'm mad about it. I am mad about Mero be dead.
I am pretty freaking sad. Yes, what was our angry faces?
(01:33:18):
That's gonna be we had. Two of these in this freaking.
Book, I know literally we are shooting 100% right now.
So I'm really sorry, Dorian, about what's coming.
And I know. I know, I'm sorry, but I already
said it, you know, So it's too late now for him.
Yeah, this was a this was a really rough.
Oh my God, I was like, I'm doinggreat.
(01:33:38):
It's funny because like I saw your your message about.
Oh God. The tears.
What did you write? Tears of the nameless tears of
the reader or something. Yeah so I knew something bad was
happening and I didn't know where it was cuz I didn't look
at the chapter and I was just like okay well what is coming?
I was like this isn't too bad. And then also the last chapter
(01:33:59):
was like my God this is so bad. I know.
And this was such a good section.
Like this entire part was great. So like, I don't want to pretend
it wasn't fantastic because it was absolutely fantastic.
It was just also at the same time a really, really hard to
swallow. Yeah.
Like so many things. Well, they did a really good job
(01:34:21):
making us really care about Mirror.
Yeah, they really, they, they really hit that hammer down on
the nail for quite some time. And then we're like, just
kidding, death. You can't have anything nice.
So, well, I mean, in great news, now I'm like full steam ahead.
Amadeo, you have to go save Wreath in Komak because if not,
(01:34:43):
then literally this is all for nothing.
Yeah, yeah. How many?
How many nameless do you think stickers took with him?
3/3. I think he took the.
Yeah, he he does take his three. With usually he's got his little
pack of three, the two that eat and the one that just starves I
guess. Just like Sicarus.
Just like maybe that's why he keeps him around and makes him
(01:35:04):
feel like seeing, you know, But yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thank you so much, everyone for joining us in that emotion fest.
I'm just excited I got through to the description of that
without crying. So everything's great.
I I'm very excited slash terrified of what's going to
(01:35:25):
happen next. No more tears.
We're done with the tears. Yeah, so that was actually the
end of Tears of the Nameless, and from here on out it's just
called Nameless and it's open-ended.
Choose your own adventure. Perfect.
Yeah. So it's going to be really chill
guys. It's very likely no promises
(01:35:46):
that will make it through the end of the book.
