In honor of this past Mother's Day, Black Women In Ed Leadership Digital Content wanted to take the time out to celebrate Black motherhood and its roots connected to shaping Black women leaders. Black mothering differs from other racial groups because Black women have had to mother their children amongst the complex challenges presented by racism and many other oppressive systems. As a result, many Black mothers turned their oppressive tragedies into triumphs and have birthed children leading a nation and their communities, families, professions, and society. Our guest and my mom, Mauresia, share her experience as a mother, her lessons, and how she believes her mothering shaped her daughters' leadership. We say Happy Mother's Day to our moms and thank them for their sacrifices they may look so easy.
