Hello.
How are you?
How is everybody?
Good evening, good morning,good night.
All of.
All the above.
All the above.
So what's going on in your world?
(04:20):
Since it's.
It's my Friday today.
Good Lord.
I took yesterday.
I took tomorrow, sir.
I'm happy for you.
Have.
Have mercy on the rest of us, sir.
I mean, some of us.
Some of us are feeling.
Hey, the way this is goinghere, they better.
They better be glad I'm havingsome mercy.
(04:41):
I wish, I wish.
I wish I had your options.
Currently.
Today is my comic book Wednesday.
So I got a few polls.
I got lucky on two of my polls.
I. I just happened to walkinto Midtown Comics.
Comics.
I haven't been there in quitea while.
It's still me.
(05:02):
I'm due for a visit to NewYork anyway.
I mean, they're.
They're.
I don't know.
Oh, you.
Oh, it's been a while.
Yeah, it's been a while.
They're corporate now, so.
Yeah, they.
They got them.
They got them, Chuck.
I got these bit of roots and.
That and that Bring on the badguys Doom.
(05:24):
Is that now?
Is that one signed?
I know you had showed us inthe chat is signed by Mark.
Is it by Mark Guggenheim?
Yes, sir.
All right.
That's his little.
Little scribble dabble and.
And the whole Mark offender.
So if you do not have yourBring on the bad guys doom.
At least that's a variantcover by Mark Guggenheim, that sign.
So if you haven't grabbed it.
(05:45):
And he signed a few.
He signed off you.
Oh, I'm sure.
I'm sure.
Yeah.
He's had a.
It's about to be the season ofDoom for, like the next year and
a half.
Why?
How many.
How many issues?
They pushing this.
They pushing Doom heavy atMarvel all year.
All year.
Like, sir.
Like.
(06:05):
I get it.
I know he's next, but can we.
Normally these type.
Normally these types of thingshappen after a movie is released,
but they say, oh, no, we'repushing this way ahead of time.
I don't.
I don't hate it because thereare so many other.
He's actually a lot of characters.
No, not even.
I mean, yeah, him.
Yeah, yeah, whatever.
(06:27):
Whatever.
But he's bringing a wholebunch of.
I don't like dictators.
A whole bunch of othercharacters to life.
Like, secondary charactersthat I appreciate.
I like.
I like the underdogs.
It all depends on who yourwriters are.
And with Guggenheim being onboard, that makes all the difference.
Yeah.
(06:48):
Mayhem Media.
What's happening.
People?
He said, hold on.
That's just for.
For shits and giggles.
I've done nothing.
I am innocent.
Shout out to Journey Smollett.
You know, Rip.
I mean, not Rip.
(07:08):
What's that?
Not Rip.
Why would you.
My bad.
We need to make a less serious Rip.
Comment it down in chat.
Hold on that note.
Reverend, please lay hands onthis young brother too.
(07:30):
My hands will burn up if Itouch this boy.
I don't know about that.
I need these.
What's going on, you sexy beans?
Let me shout out some of thepeople that's in the chat right now.
Shout out to Mal.
Mal's in the building, as always.
What's going on?
All nerd entertainment is inthe building.
What's happening?
Thank you for joining andjoining the crew.
(07:51):
Bama's here.
What's going on, Bama?
So thank you.
Thank you.
Some of the testicles.
So now.
So Lady Mandalore said thiswas her comic book Wednesday.
So technically this is myThursday because I had to take the
day off because a injury gotre aggravated.
So I took today off to recover.
(08:13):
I told you to stop puttingyour foot.
Wait, hold on.
I told you stop carrying these hoes.
Listen, I. I need.
In other words, I need to behosed to be carried, so I ain't got
to worry about that.
That Deficit is negative 5 asfar as my foot.
That's the problem.
So I had a broken toe reaggravated, so I'm pretty much at
(08:35):
home.
Oh, I was just joking about.
No, no.
No.
My brother.
Once again, once again, mutant power.
Just don't know the levels ofhow this thing works.
But you know the good thing, though?
Because just like LadyMandalore, I, I, I want to show a
couple of things, if that's okay.
Okay.
All right.
So Green Lantern number five.
(08:59):
Green Lantern.
Green Lantern.
No.
Yeah.
No.
I saw it in the store, and I'mlike, do I have this yet?
No.
The answer to that is no.
Okay.
Of course I got my bitter rootnumber five.
So you know what?
I hate y', all, because, yo, amazing.
(09:19):
Unfortunately, my brick andmortar doesn't carry a lot of those
type.
It carries, like, local indiecreators, which is fine.
Which is great.
I won't.
I want.
They chose violence.
I won't.
Bitter root.
I won't.
I want those.
I'll go.
I'll gladly pay for them.
Call some Black Panthers.
Wow.
Okay.
For your conspiracy theoristworld tree number 16 is out.
(09:42):
And let me tell you, this badboy slaps so hard, it makes Department
of Truth look like a fever dream.
Put it like that.
Oh, much like the timelinewe're on.
Okay.
Yes.
And San Diego Comic Con.
I did not get to show you this.
X Men, age of Revelation 0.
(10:03):
This was given out at the XMen panel on Thursday because they're
getting.
Ready to start that.
Yes.
And let me tell you, thecovers and what they reviewed.
Oh, my gosh, I am geeked for this.
But if you went to the panel, everyone got this, so this is an
exclusive, so.
So for some of you who are newto the comics realm, go track down
(10:28):
the trade.
Age of Apocalypse.
Fine reading, I'm telling you.
Oh, fine reading.
People like me and Chris gotthe whole run, which I'm proud that
I finally did.
That's how.
It's how we found out aboutWolverine and Claus.
Oh, she's got that look.
She's got that face.
No, you know.
(10:48):
You know about this, too.
I just happen to have the hard copy.
Please go get this.
Yes, go.
Getting that.
Please go.
As a matter of fact, New Game plus.
New game.
New game plus, he's going tobe on your show Sunday.
Yes, he is.
He's a lovely gentleman, Mr.Colleen Carson.
He's lovely.
(11:09):
He's lovely.
Yeah.
It's gonna be on her show.
My show.
You're gonna talk about this book.
This book.
This book is raycomics.com R AE comics.
They put out some really good stuff.
Oh, yeah, Great comics.
Puts out some really good crapthey be putting in work.
Yes.
I would love to see some.
(11:30):
Some animations from those.
This Is this.
This the one, though?
This the one you need theanimation for?
I'm telling you.
I'm telling.
I think MAYHEM would like thatone, honestly, because.
Yeah.
No, no.
On real tip.
No, that's.
That's up.
Yo.
Up your.
Yeah.
Too far out of boots on the ground.
(11:51):
How's everything going on inyour neck of the woods?
I heard broken toes mentioned, and then immediately I felt I was
summoned.
So I don't want to be a partof that club.
Okay?
I don't.
I really don't.
Neither do I. I have this way.
I wear carbon fiber inserts.
It's not great over here.
Oh, Lord, have her see.
I wish I had it like that.
(12:12):
I've got.
It's like Skittles in a meatbag on my foot.
So that's how it feels right now.
I was just told, hey, we hadto, like, put a regular saw away
and go get the big one, whichwe haven't used in years, so.
So real quick, before we getto our main two subjects, what is
a project that recently cameout that you've missed or.
(12:35):
And why you want to watch it?
There's been too much.
I'm gonna be honest with you.
I like, like, a lot dropped, like, in a week at one point.
But, yeah, I might hate.
I might hate watch this.
I do not want to watch this.
I promise you, I do not wantto watch this.
No, I take that back.
No, scrap that.
Different project.
(12:57):
George Washington Black.
I need to see that.
I need to see that.
I like.
I. I started it.
It's good.
It starts off I, I, I. Yeah,yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sterling K. Brown's in this.
Another.
Another.
Hi.
Mr. Man is out there.
I don't know why they're notgiving his brother's fault.
He acts his tail off.
(13:19):
I like.
I like your acting.
And.
And.
And other things, too.
And.
And what's.
What's bad about it?
Here's.
Here's the crazy thing.
Oh, I've always watched him.
I like.
Yeah, but did you watch him in Supernatural?
And you say what then youain't watched because.
Yeah, yeah, he was inSupernatural too long.
I can't.
I don't.
(13:41):
I can't do that.
I don't count that.
I don't count the last seasonbecause damn covet.
But yeah, he was.
It was.
It was the much earlier seasons.
It was the much earlier season.
I very much learned about him, like a lot of people, as Randall
from this Is Us.
See, I mean, that's the onlyway I know him.
So then jumping from Randallto Killmonger's dad was quite the
shift.
(14:01):
But it's just like y' allstabbed the nicest man on television.
Why, Bam.
Off guard, he was in Supernatural.
Yeah, yeah.
Yes, he was.
I mean, that's just like Miami Vice.
You know, there are.
You'd be surprised.
Of all the cameos in MiamiVice, damn near have it up.
(14:22):
Of the Hollywood we know rightnow, it was.
Was in Miami Vice at some point.
It's.
It's crazy who all showed up there.
What about you, man?
What project have you missedand why you want to watch it?
Project I missed project.
I missed F1.
I did not get a chance to see that.
(14:46):
I. I dig a good Brad Pitts.
I dig a good Damson Idris, andI've heard phenomenal things about
the camera work.
So that.
That sounds.
That sounds down my alley justokay not to see it yet.
No, I'm just saying.
I'm just saying I saw it early.
I think you would really likeit, because that's it.
That was my thing.
I'm like, I'm not a rate.
(15:07):
Like, usually you either go,what was the one?
I think it was Sasha BaronCohen, and he was a racer, but he
got, like, a bat, him andanother dude.
It was called.
It was called the Ballad of Ricky.
Teladega Nights.
No, the Ballad of Ricky Bobby, because he was in that.
There was another one I thinkhe was in, or someone.
(15:27):
They had that same look.
And it was a more seriousracing film.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
E N N X Center.
That.
That might have been it.
Whichever one where the dudegot in the crash and they were, like,
sticking the tube down hislungs to remove the ash.
Like, you either go that.
Like, with racing films, youeither go that route or Ricky Bobby.
There's usually not a good inbetween F1.
(15:48):
Almost like a Days of Thunder, maybe.
The F1 has, like, a perfectmix of, like, if you're not a racing
fan, they make it easy for youto follow.
Like, how he's bending therule and why Navy is doing a Shadow
Clone Jutsu.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Sorry.
They do a good job of, like, explaining, like, not dumbing it
down.
Like, oh, this is what he's doing.
This is what he's teaching.
(16:10):
Only I can say is why theymarket it as, like, Brad Pitt's movie
when it's really.
It is equally him and Dan's movie.
That's a whole nother discussion.
But it's.
It's a really good film.
That's definitely one for thecollection if you need like a new
Blu Ray to add in.
Yeah, but it's like the movietakes place in all the places that
damn it is from.
So I'm like, you think you would.
Be more gear because it's Brad.
(16:33):
Because it's Brad Pitt, butthe whole.
Movie is Brad Pitt, likebecoming Damn's wingman on the track
when you watch it.
So it's like it's equallyparts both of their films here.
And we're going to talk alittle more like how that.
How I think that works.
A lot of people, the.
The majority of people in thisworld, they have short mind span,
(16:57):
they have short attentionspans, and then two, they.
They have.
They have comprehension issues.
They.
They don't comprehend.
Well, you know, yeah, we knowDamson injuries and yes, we know
Brad Pitt, but.
And we know Damson ninja Idriscan act.
We know that.
So, yeah.
So for us, we will say, yeah,I'll go see this.
(17:20):
This is the first feature film.
Yeah, do it.
So.
But not.
Not everyone thinks like that.
They don't have the openmindset to.
Things that I kind of.
Me and.
Me and a few other homies kindof had that thought because this
was a very non American film.
Like, they go to this.
Like, they come to the Statesto get Brad Pitt and then they go
like, everywhere but Americafor these tracks.
(17:42):
So that's where.
That's where F1 is.
There's no everywhere but America.
That's only so with.
With a non American co star, you think he would be like, equally
on the posters.
But they just got Brad Pitt upthere like, he man posing.
So what.
So what's up?
What's the project?
(18:02):
Since we got you too far, what's the project that you've missed?
I don't know what he hasn'tmissed one or two.
Just one.
Just one.
Okay, well, quick shout outbecause they're officially launched
since we beg on the the Tokenspodcast, I've been meaning to catch
up on.
So it's good.
Props to Ms. G. It's good.
(18:23):
Giovanni Samuels.
That's.
That's a.
That's a good thing.
You got.
I.
It's.
She got gold that second episode.
I'm like, I'm at work.
I shouldn't be watching this.
I need to binge that.
But as far as, like, tv, if y'all need something that is like,
technically not canceled butstill needs to be ordered more episodes
and black and unproblematicand just a good.
(18:43):
Turn your brain off for thechildren, please go watch the Full
season of Fairly Odd Parentsin the Wish that's now on Netflix.
Yeah, we had.
When James was on.
They only had the first 10 episodes.
The full season is out now.
And I don't know what they'resmoking over at Paramount, but please.
I don't think.
(19:04):
I don't think they know whatthey're smoking over a Paramount.
They got those new people incharge and they just asked all the
wrong things.
So please, if you can go watchit, leave it on the background.
Please go watch the new fairlyappearance spin off.
It is actually very good.
Does a good job paying homageto the source material without relying
too much on everything previously.
(19:24):
Right, Navy, what's theproject that you've missed outside
of Superman?
We knew about that one.
Well, I'm taking care of thattomorrow with.
With my three course meal and everything.
So I'll be fine.
I get paid tomorrow.
Oh, so do I.
I' ma still be broke.
(19:45):
Stupid paradise.
I'm really interested.
Yeah, I have not been.
They just.
They just wrapped season two.
They just wrapped season two.
That's a good show.
I've heard nothing but goodthings about it.
I genuinely want to sit downand check it out.
It's the very best of everything.
(20:07):
Like they don't.
They don't waste time in thefirst episode.
They do not waste time.
So it's not, it's not likethis long, drawn out what's going
on.
They get right to it.
Oh, baby.
Oh, it is.
And it's good.
It's.
It's like a.
Who done it?
Slash.
Sci Fi.
(20:28):
Slash.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'd say it's been a whilesince I've seen a political, you
know, a political thriller.
I've always gotten a kick outof those because if House of Cards
hadn't gone to the like, it had.
It had me by.
It had me by the soul fromseason one.
It had me by the soul.
Yeah.
So I'm looking forward toseeing what paradise brings to me.
(20:51):
Yeah, it's.
It's every bit of good.
Every bit of good, everybody.
Acting storyline theme.
I'm just like, oh, you didn'twaste then.
This is some.
This is.
I've watched Loss, so youalready know.
Like, I'm like, I've spent allthis time doing what, you know, a
(21:19):
whole summer gone just tocatch it because I didn't watch it
from it from its birth.
I caught it during the strikewhen, When Hulu.
When Hulu was free.
Yeah, when Hulu was.
Used to be free.
So by the time.
By the time there I think bythe time their fourth season started,
(21:39):
I was caught up.
I was wrapped in.
And I'm sorry.
I never did it again.
I said, oh, we're not doing this.
That's what watch from.
I'm sorry.
Great actors.
But if we're.
It's the same route.
I can't do it.
It, bro.
It's okay.
It's.
It's good.
It's good.
Oh, but also, it's developedby the.
(22:02):
The dudes from.
That did End Game.
The.
Oh, the Russos.
They're involved, so intheory, it should be fine.
Also, from Cleveland, Ohio, shout out to the Realtor Brothers.
But it's a lot.
Yeah.
And I.
And I got.
I got through a good portionof the first season.
I think I watched.
(22:22):
No, I did.
I watched the whole firstseason, but shout out to Candy B.
Who's like, she's wrapped in.
Like, she's locked in andtelling it.
And I'm like, I can't invest anymore.
You're right.
Because I was like.
Because everything I wasseeing was questions, questions,
questions, and I'm like, I'mgetting PTSD from Lost.
(22:45):
I. I can't do it now.
So.
So our first part of the show,we are talking about.
Actually, the whole show isabout the Marvel missteps.
Fantastic Four.
Fantastic.
Fantastic Four.
First steps recently dropped.
(23:06):
And in my opinion, it's a good film.
It's.
It's a fun film to sit backand watch.
It has a very 60s aesthetic.
It does not take place in the616 universe as we know it to be,
is on a totally different Earth.
Pedro Pascal, who was one ofthe other hardest working men in
Hollywood right now, onceagain, is playing a dad.
(23:27):
An autistic dad at that.
Yeah.
So, no, for real, I. I willsay this.
Excuse me.
They got Galactus, right?
They got the set designs.
Every set design, Jack Kirby infused.
That's all I seen.
I seen nothing but Jack Kirby.
(23:49):
And I said, if this man wasalive, he'd probably shed a tear
from happiness, of course.
And.
And I wasn't wrong.
I'm just looking at stuff, andI'm like, okay, this 60s aesthetic
is Jack Kirby.
The fantastic car is Jack Kirby.
These design.
When they go see Galactus, andI'm like, this is all Jack.
(24:13):
This is.
This is all the king right here.
And I wasn't.
I wasn't disappointed.
So I want to ask one of thequestions that Mayhem set up was,
do you think Galactus wasdefeated too easily?
Lord.
Okay, okay.
(24:35):
No, y' all gotta go off.
I feel like you want to go off?
No.
No.
Because how he was.
How he was defeated.
Kira was all on board becausesomebody and it.
What?
And I'm not putting on Pedro.
I'm like, look, he's carryingeverything else.
He might need to take abreather right now.
(24:56):
Vanessa Kirby.
No relation as Invisible Woman.
Fantastic.
She.
There wasn't any.
There wasn't any using theshield and nosebleeds.
No, she.
She was very much in tune withwhat she needed to do.
(25:17):
I. I don't think he wasdefeated too easily.
Only because in this iterationof Galactus, he was only.
What's the best way I do it?
It's like.
It's almost like a fledglingversion of him.
You know, the.
You just discovered it for thefirst time.
And he's.
(25:37):
He's so focused on his hungerthat he.
You know, he only knows somuch of what he can and can't do.
So I don't think he wasdefeated all that easily.
But at the same time, theycould have had him do it just a little
bit more.
Right.
And I like how the.
If you've never seen the movieand I've seen it twice, so, yeah.
(25:58):
If you don't like me.
Oh, well, what fan doesn't seea movie more than once?
I'm just.
Oh, I seen it once.
It was my copy.
Whatever.
Oh, I saw it.
Shout outs to being a JackKirby fan from from nine on up.
But I thought the.
(26:19):
The highlight on sue was whereI got my most joy, honestly.
Because if we talk about theFantastic Four of the team, she is
speak of unspeakably the mostpowerful out of the entire team.
Yes.
The most powerful out of theentire team.
Shout out to the goat himself.
Yes.
Jack Kirby.
That was a painting that wasdone for me because I'm.
(26:40):
I'm a fan of Lee Kirby andseveral others, and I still need
to get some of those paintings too.
But, yeah, I agree.
You know, the highlight shouldhave been.
And from the beginning, youcould tell the highlight was on her,
which is what I enjoyed.
And when they got.
When they went through thecosmic storm, I sat there and I thought,
(27:02):
Ben Strong.
Johnny's fiery read a stretchy stretch.
But her power is so hidden.
Hers has more layers than allthe other ones.
So I appreciated how they do it.
I don't think he was easily.
Definitely for you.
Lady Mandalore.
Yeah.
Is anybody?
Anybody?
(27:23):
I'm cool.
I'm waiting.
I got.
I got time.
I'm.
Remember, we got an hour and a half.
Okay.
Remember that.
We got an hour and a half.
Okay, I'mma give it to.
I'mma give it to our.
Our.
Our.
Our movie offician, Mayhem.
I think.
I didn't think he was defeatedtoo easily in real time.
(27:46):
After I left the theater, Isaw some of the discourse online
and people were complainingabout it.
I think maybe to Navy's pointof how strong sue actually is, maybe
they could have laid some ofthat groundwork a little earlier.
Because when they first seeGalactus, they're like, holy.
What the hell is that?
(28:08):
But then, like, they just pushhim into a big hole and it's like,
oh, okay, that didn't.
All right.
We were kind of a littlenervous for nothing there.
Just.
I think it speaks more or lessbecause, you know, I mean, this is
a spoiler section.
We're not holding things back.
It's been a while, I thinkbecause she's a mother now.
(28:28):
Because they didn't waste anytime there.
We didn't need the origin story.
They got.
They got right past all of that.
They.
They do it like in a bit of anexposition, but there's really no.
No flashback or anything likethat other than, I think a radio
transmission that was heard or something.
It was just a documentary esque.
With the.
With the transmission overlayin the background.
(28:49):
They.
And they didn't.
Which I. I appreciate becausewe don't always need that.
So providing that, yeah, thisteam has been here.
This has been Earth's protectors.
They've been here for.
They've been here for a while.
And they get right to thepregnancy of Franklin Richards.
And I think because once shebecomes a mother, she doesn't realize,
(29:12):
as they say, that.
That.
That mama strength kicked in.
Oh, did it ever.
So that's.
That's how I took it.
Thanks.
That's awesome.
I said it was like, you knowthat that pin child under a car.
Like you magically find thestrength to.
To.
To do what you need to do.
I was like, all right, all right.
(29:33):
Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
I see it.
I see it.
For me, it was also the factthat everyone is fighting around
trying not to crush thisunfortunate infant who was caught
in the middle of all this.
So he didn't even have bothhands for you.
Like, may.
Maybe he gets a.
Because he's not dead.
He's just lost.
So he.
He's moved to another.
(29:54):
Somewhere.
Another part of base.
We're not sure what.
Because that was the wholeidea was them building this massive,
complicated machine that wouldmove Earth.
And.
And because Silver Surferdestroyed most of those.
Those projections, they like, read like well, why don't we try
(30:16):
to move him?
You know, the whole.
Let me just take bikini bottomand push it somewhere else.
So it's.
I don't.
I don't.
And then it wasn't read or itwasn't Susan by herself.
Neither.
It was, you know, it was actually.
(30:36):
Everybody had a hand and howthis all built up.
And I like that this went andgot right to it and told the story
and didn't really waste a lotof time.
The Mole man thing was.
Was a pleasant surprise.
That was hilarious.
Okay.
Yeah.
Like, because what you see ina lot of films, a lot of the superhero
(30:59):
films is like, the villaindies, and here, because of Susan's
compassion and understanding, he's.
He's like, no, there's areason why he's upset.
And she's created this trucebetween upper Earth and lower Earth.
(31:20):
Subterranean.
Yeah, subterranean.
So she managed to create that, and he's very well to be underminer.
Yeah.
That whole movie is basicallyjust the.
Not Fantastic Four featuring.
Yeah, Featuring Mole Man.
Yeah, that's.
I mean, that's.
That's what.
(31:41):
That's what the Incredibles were.
You know, everything in theIncredibles is.
Is every bit fantastic for.
They.
They took.
They took their keys, theytook their.
Their cues from old FF issues.
So, yeah, I, I, you know,Tory, go ahead.
I'm gonna let you get yourself.
I feel like they talked up herdiplomacy a lot, but like you said,
(32:01):
they could have saved.
They could have shown herskill set a little bit more in the
beginning.
Like, I think we were supposedto see more even with, like, Red
Ghost, because we saw themtake down 1 8, but then they cut
him out the film completely.
John Malovich completely cutout the film, which I thought was
odd choice.
Yeah, you got a high rankingactor and you cut him completely.
(32:23):
That's kind of weird.
Hey, sir.
That just means he can comeback as someone else.
But, yeah, that.
So I think at times when theycould have showcased their powers
was basically replaced withJohnny and Ben.
Basically the whole.
Was saying, I'll fight anyone anywhere.
Because they immediately show,go ahead.
It's not immortal.
(32:44):
He's just big.
Because they immediately wentto work and started breaking on the
way out, which I'm like, Iappreciate it.
We're at least not waiting forthe action.
Because Johnny was just like, all right.
We tried diplomacy.
That didn't work.
And then Ben.
Ben with the linebacker blitzon Shala Ball into the wall.
I'm like, okay, so she's notimmortal either.
At least I know we know shecan Be touched.
Yeah, yeah.
(33:04):
But I, I, I feel like whenthey, I don't know, I was expecting
a little bit more motherlyrage during the whole stressed out
birthing scene.
But, yeah, I like what theydid for her in the end, even though
it came at the cost of herliteral life.
But I'm curious to see ifshe's done with diplomacy after this
(33:24):
or if they put her back intoNaruto talk, no jutsu standards for
whatever else she's gonna be in.
I, I don't see them, I don'tsee them taking that character and
doing snotty kitt.
Oh, my God.
I don't see them takingSusan's, like, diplomacy path away,
(33:45):
like, because actually, Ithink that's, I think that's very
endearing.
What I liked about this filmis each one of these characters embodied
everything.
I've read about them over theyears, but they kind of expanded
a little bit.
Like, thing.
The city loves him.
Despite his look, he's nothung up on that.
You know, he's, he's, he'svery, he's almost ex.
(34:08):
He's, he's accepting, he's confident.
You know, he's not afraid togo talk to anyone in this point,
in this case is Natasha Leone.
So he's like.
And she's very receiving of it.
The kids love him.
You know, he's not this, he'snot this big creature, you know,
with the ugly mug thateverybody's scared of.
(34:28):
He's like, he's walking freelyin New York City with no problem.
Johnny is every bit Johnny.
Shout out to Joseph Quinn.
He, he's phenomenal.
You know, he runs into theSuper Silver Surfer and he was like,
yeah, hot alien.
You know, I'm like, yeah,that's, that's Johnny.
That's, that's Johnny.
But then they also show, like, like, he's, he's not this big dumb
(34:52):
hunk.
He's, he has a PhD.
Everyone has some level of,like, education this time around.
They're not just, it's notjust Reed and Friends in the Sky.
Yeah.
Like, he's, he's doing his thing.
Like, when they go to breakdown, like, the, the language that
he hears, and he's like, Iheard it before.
And there's a bunch ofrecordings that Reed had.
(35:13):
And he's literally like, Icould put this together.
And he figures it out and I'mlike, I like this touch.
They didn't make him just.
Yeah, yeah.
They didn't make him a horny hothead.
That's what it Boiled down to,you know, and.
And Pedro playing Reed wasevery bit of all science.
(35:35):
All science.
He gets distracted, that's all.
That's a form of autism, youknow, or adhd, however you want to
look at it.
But, yeah, you know, even when that.
That.
That deal was being brought tothe table and you could see the.
In his face, and even Susanwas like, oh, my God, I know you're
(35:57):
not.
He just.
He said.
He said he considered.
It was considered.
Not.
Not going to be.
It's a thing that Reed does.
He thinks so much about thegreater good and how to fix everything
that sometimes his decisionmaking, or at least the paths that
(36:17):
he creates, aren't the pathsthat you need to be walking down
anyway.
He goes around the corner togo next door, literally.
Say it, man.
Say it.
All I was gonna say is that Ithink as.
As.
As Reed is presented, as faras just thinking of every possible
outcome all at once.
(36:38):
I think my brain works a lotlike that.
So me personally, in thetheater, I was like, if this don't
learn to lie, it is pissing me off.
That was me.
I would have been like, hewants all our first.
We would have been prepping, like, because they were technically
(36:59):
gone a month.
So I'm like, we would havebeen finessing a game plan in the
ship every day.
Okay, before we land, everyonego over their lines or let sue speak.
And he's standing by.
He's standing behind, justlooking apprehensive.
Just looking out at the reporters.
Just mind your business, babe.
Yeah, yeah, let me talk to people.
That's what I do.
(37:19):
Like, you got Ben there.
Clearly no one's going to rush you.
They know better.
That's why nobody tried to open.
Overstepped the line for the press.
They knew what not to do.
And then when they were like, give up the baby.
And then Ben came outside, Iwas like, you know what?
I wasn't familiar with your game.
I'm just, peace, love, andchicken grease.
(37:42):
What were we saying now?
Like, without the chicken.
I'd be.
I'd be upset, though, if I hadto, like, turn my Nintendo off every
day at 6pm and the.
Didn't work, though.
I'm just.
I found that to be thefunniest thing.
And I'm like, they goteveryone to cut their power off.
Everyone on the planet at thesame time.
Everyone except Latveria.
(38:03):
I was about to say that every day.
Every day.
Like, he's like, they'reprobably floating in Earth.
Like, which one is Earth?
And, like, see the one withthe Little light bulb over there.
Like, like, that one littlearea is.
Latvaire is like, I'm notdoing it, like, out of spite.
Like the Tournament of Power, when Goku's like, I need a spirit
moment.
Vegeta was like, y', all, I'mnot doing it.
(38:26):
But no, and I, I canappreciate how each one of these
characters were portrayed.
It.
It really worked becauseseeing Reed have that look of.
I thought about it.
I don't want to do it.
But sue seeing right throughit, hence her instantly getting pissed.
(38:48):
Yeah.
Can we talk about the mvp?
Herbie.
Herbie.
Which, if you see the behindthe scenes of how they make.
They are so close.
They are so close to, like, having an actual working robot on
sets of movies.
It's ridiculous.
I think it's cool.
If Elon asked to contribute.
(39:09):
No, no, no, no.
Because it wouldn't be his inthe first place.
He, he would have stole thedesign from somebody.
I'm just saying, like, if he'slike, I think I can.
Hey, I can tweak it.
No, not, Not a chip, not adip, not nothing.
Stay away from Herbie.
I, I will say this.
That point where Galactuscomes to Earth and it surprises Herbie.
(39:32):
Now Herbie talks in a bunch ofbeeps, and I, I swear to God, that's
what I, I thought he said.
What the.
This movie needs to be rated Rbecause Herbie dropped two F bombs.
As far as the way I looked atit is like, you know, R2D2, you know,
chopper from the Star Wars Rebels.
Like, you know, when they, they cursing, you could tell it's,
(39:53):
it's, it's inflection.
And so I was like, damn, Ilearned how to read Droid.
Thanks, Star Wars.
So just hearing, hearingHerbie doing, you know, like, yeah,
that was what the.
But I, but everything aboutthis, to me, the aesthetic, the setup,
(40:17):
the designs, you know, seeingthe behind the scenes, which we've
seen earlier today when theyshowed the behind the scenes of how
they made her, this is whatthat movie magic is all about.
Like, I come from era where Iremember Johnny Five, and I just
thought that was cool.
And then you see how you seethe wires and how they made him work.
And I'm like, now we're noteven using wires anymore.
(40:42):
So I, I, I, I, I, I can dig it.
I, I do like how theyportrayed Ben, because, yes, we never
see him do the go to thegradual transformation, which is
great.
But we see him looking atreflections of himself in the, you
know, just kind of glances.
Yeah.
And Just desires.
(41:03):
Like, what I.
You could tell deep inside,he's like, this is not what I wanted.
I didn't want any of this.
But what got me is when hegrew a beard and he was shaving.
Let me tell you, the rock beard.
I giggled so hard, I was like, hey, Laney.
Rock beard.
Let's go, lady.
(41:27):
I remember someone actually saying.
I remember someone actuallysaying there's a scene when Galactus
there on Earth, and he grabsReed, and he basically is stretching
him, and they're just like, well, he.
He should be able to.
You.
He should be able to be usedto that.
And I said, no, you got tothink about it.
(41:49):
There's.
There's a size difference here.
Like, this is Galactus where He's.
He's probably never went that far.
That's, like, beyond.
That's like, beyond his point.
He's like, yo, I've never.
This is way past what I'm usedto doing.
That's something you should.
You should have a little moregive than that.
(42:10):
Like, I mean, like, I'mthinking, like, is this.
Like, use his full wingspan.
That's what we gonna do.
Like.
Okay, I'mma.
I'mma give y' all someperspective, okay?
Just because I can push awhole baby out my body, I knew she
was gonna do.
Doesn't mean that it's go.
Everything's gonna be allright, okay.
(42:34):
At the pushing.
Some things you got.
You got.
You gotta stitch it backtogether on some parts.
Okay?
I'm just saying.
Perspective.
Everything.
Don't stretch for ever.
Anatomy Lesson is brought toyou by Bill does because.
Why not?
No, but.
And.
And she has a very valid andstrong point.
(42:57):
Like, that's.
It's.
If you're not used to doingthat, how would you know?
You could.
You know, ain't nobody who.
Who's Stretch, okay?
Like.
Like, this is Galactus.
We're not.
We're not talking about, like, when he's wrapping his arms around
some girders trying to stop abuilding or something.
Like.
No, we're talking Galactic this.
(43:19):
I'm a pre pause myself.
Pre pause.
Who.
Who out here is stretching outReed like that.
Tried to judge me?
Who is putting.
Who's stretching out thatGarnet Mayhem.
Son of a mother man.
Come on.
(43:39):
Yes.
I judge nothing.
I'm just saying.
And I'm glad I'm not the only.
And I'm sure that there'sother people who.
Who agree with what me andKira are saying, but it's true.
It's like, yo, if he.
He.
They haven't met a threat like this.
No.
You know, learning theirpowers, though they're still learning
(43:59):
the extent of everything, too.
Yeah.
Like nobody knew Susan wouldbe able to at least hold him off
and with a final pass out, youknow, a Hail Mary, so to speak, guide
him through the portal, whichhe didn't manage to come back out
of anyway.
But, yeah.
(44:19):
So happy her nose didn't bleed.
I was waiting for it.
I was waiting for either a nosebleed.
I'm tired of it.
A blood vessel in the eye orlike an aneurysm or something.
But, oh, no, like.
Like something.
Or maybe they're saving thatfor, like, when Gene goes full.
I mean, the only thing thatdidn't do.
The only thing they didn't doin this film is have Johnny go supernova.
(44:44):
I thought that was coming whenhe was like, yep, tell Uncle John.
I was like, somebody's notmaking it out of this.
And then Johnny.
Johnny with the big brain.
Just that.
That.
I like that change because they.
The womanization was implied, but not the focus of his whole character.
Right, right.
Let's see.
That's what I liked about thismovie, is that you don't meet them
when they're at the apex oftheir abilities.
(45:06):
You see them still learningeverything because it's still new
to them.
They don't even know to theextent of what they can do.
Everything.
Everything is almost.
I'll say, because even almoststreet level.
Yeah.
It's extinct.
It's instinctual.
And, you know, what do you doas human beings?
You can only do so much andyou recognize that ability, but you
don't know how far that can go.
(45:26):
And the same thing with themcosmic rays didn't come with instructions.
It's like the greatestAmerican hero we got.
The suit.
Lost the instructions.
Meanwhile, you bouncing allover the place, flying through the
air.
What the hell am I doing?
And I think that's what madeit so endearing, because we saw them
try so hard to be humaninstead of superheroes, but still
(45:49):
try to combine both worlds.
And they were cracking and itwas clashing.
It was genuinely clashing.
Yeah, she definitely was themost tactical because, like, using
your powers to magnify his eyes.
So Johnny at least gets astraight shot to blind the man.
I'm like, she's.
They've either beenpracticing, like, off the clock,
or she just.
She's very aware of herabilities more than everyone else,
(46:10):
because she was very much.
I won't say battle tested, butshe was ready when the moment came,
either verbally or physically.
They, they.
Hold on, hold on.
Because I, I, I, I, I'll say.
We've been wait.
We've been waiting for it.
Go ahead.
All right.
So sorry.
Because I got my snacks.
I'm ready.
(46:30):
Y' all are touching on pointsthat I.
That I had already set up.
So, first of all, sue didn't.
Nobody defeated Galactus.
He was paused.
If you were going to sayanyone defeated Galactus, it was
Shala Ball because she tookher whole body and her whole strength
and did the final push to gethim all the way through that without.
(46:53):
And that was it.
That was her one shot to punchhim through that hole.
Sue was super strong inpushing him back, but she wasn't
going to be the one to just, like, hit him with the one punch
force field and get himthrough the hole.
Right.
Second part of all of this iswhy I find it troubling.
(47:15):
This is all.
This has been a trouble sincethe inception of comics and women
in comics.
It is.
Why is it so easy to believe?
What is that man's name?
Johnny can pick up a languagehe's heard maybe once in his life,
comb through thousands ofother languages, decode it, and then
(47:37):
talk to Charlie Ball in her language.
But it's hard to believe thata woman with superhero powers and
force field powers can justpush a.
Through a hole.
Are you like, how.
I know those are two differentskills, but if you can suspend your
disbelief for Johnny, I needy' all to work on suspending the
(47:58):
disbelief for Sue.
That's.
I agree.
I know, I know.
I agree.
No, I agree.
It's.
It's the same.
I think that that comes fromthe same crowd that when they found
out about Shala Ball, it wasjust like, she's not the Silver Surfer.
And I'm like, yes, yes, she was.
She was the original.
(48:18):
Technically, she was theoriginal Silver Surfer.
Exactly.
And Norin Rad, who we know asthe current Silver Surfer, was her
husband.
So comics, everybody.
The material's out there.
It was a sister.
Sister tag team for the wing.
Yeah.
So it was just, you know, they're like, oh, they're gender
(48:40):
swapping.
It's not a gender swap.
What was.
What was your counterpoint?
Chaos demon.
Oh, no, I was gonna say counterpoint.
I didn't believe Johnny coulddo that.
Either, but that was me.
I got a bigger problem withthat scene.
It's the fact that Johnny tookover all of New York's televisions
with something on his watch.
I'm like, what type of CIAtechnology do y' all have that they
(49:05):
just like, look the other way on.
Because that's why.
Well, that's what I was thinking.
I was like, not only.
I'm like, how much does theworld trust y'?
All?
Because you just got accessto, like, all of basically Times
Square.
And, and the entire world isapparently watching this happen because
y' all are the only thing onTV right now for people that still
have power.
To be fair, they've shownthemselves to be the only protectors
(49:26):
because they never revealedany other heroes in this, in this
particular world.
Maybe that was part ofJohnny's brand deal.
Like, hey, you're gonna driveby that, that billboard and light
it on fire five times a day.
And in exchange, we'll giveyou access.
But also Johnny just keepingup the old Fantastic Four lore.
Because remember when Reed hadto, like, curse malice out of, like,
(49:49):
her brainwashing with, like,toxic masculinity?
And then Johnny was like, allright, here's my trap card.
Accountability.
So I, I, but see, I'm.
I'm with Kieran and the in, inthis is.
And this is.
It isn't.
It isn't just this film orthis medium.
It's a.
It's like, across the board.
(50:09):
And we know what it is.
It's toxic masculinity needed.
And yeah, like, if you.
These people aren't even real.
I'm just.
That was my whole, you know, when he, when he played all the dying
planets.
When he played all the dying planets.
(50:31):
And her reaction was just to,like, hawk girl scream into the camera
and then leave.
I laughed a little bit becauseI just seen Superman.
And I was like, what's withthe screaming?
Close ups with, like, the fullshow of teeth.
She just, like, panic yelledand then just dipped.
And I'm like, okay.
I guess she had to recollecther actions.
(50:52):
She had to be held accountable for.
Like, she didn't just comehere by.
Herself, expecting it to drag out.
Like, no, stop.
And he just keeps playing voices.
She just said, nope.
Panic, yell, and full flee.
She has flee.
Like a Pokemon battle.
When you did.
When the ball didn't land, itwas what the furl.
I mean, she, she sacrificedherself to be his herald, to save
her planet in return to givehim other planets to feed.
(51:15):
And all she says, all shepretty much says, oh, here's a planet.
Go over there.
She never sticks around forthe aftermath or to.
Or the current anything.
She's just, oh, I gotta gofind another spot.
Cause it's gonna be hungry again.
And I mean, you don't feelthat in that big Ass ship, or is
it just like a speed?
I'm like, yep, we hit another one.
(51:36):
Oh, no.
She's just like, yeah, go over.
He's over there.
I gotta go and find some otherstuff because probably another week
he's gonna be hungry again.
Just.
She just doesn't stick around.
And I think her being facedwith that, which is a Ghost Rider
type thing to do, which plot armor.
They did it in the cartoon.
(51:57):
That was weird.
To Mayhem's point.
Can y' all learn the lie?
Because could y' all make thetrap look less obvious versus everyone?
Like, why are you standingthere holding the switch?
You could.
You can stretch.
You could literally be aroundthe corner.
And then now, like, what?
Y' all got the baby on theplatform with the four pillars all
(52:18):
looking at him, like, just a little.
I'm like, y' all didn't thinkhe was gonna.
The man could see a babybefore it was born.
You didn't think he was gonnafigure this out?
Wow.
Let's see.
And I think that's the appealof this, though.
And.
And that probably that's whyI. I had such a kinship with this
particular film.
Because, again, they're facinga threat that they've never experienced.
(52:38):
They've got abilities thatthey still don't know much about.
All they have is their brains.
So what we may consider atactical error may not be so obvious
to those particular charactersin the way it's created.
So, you know, I'm expectingall of these massive amounts of errors,
but I think what I appreciateis the ability, desire to try.
(53:02):
Just think on the fly, considering the circumstance.
I'm glad so far I mentionedthe baby, which is Franklin Richards.
It's really no teaser, becausethey even threw it in the film.
Like, she's pregnant, having a baby.
And.
And Franklin Richards, he's adifferent type of kid.
(53:25):
And we're not just talkingabout the baby, but he's a different
type of kid.
But he's very much a child.
Well, he's more of a teenager now.
But, like, this man createspocket worlds.
Are we talking about the movieor the comics?
The.
The comics version of Franklin.
(53:45):
Okay.
I was like, wait, what?
Not really sure what thisversion of Franklin can do yet.
I don't know if they're gonna.
I don't want to say opium, because when they make him that way
in the comics, it's not really op.
It's.
It's already there.
Yeah, we just didn't see himglow and flash.
All we all.
All we've seen is he broughthis mom back.
We.
We.
(54:05):
He brought.
He brought Susan back from thebrink of death with.
No, no, no.
Not the brink of death.
So we saw Franklin with.
With the power of love.
We saw Franklin become theworld's first human defibrillator.
The camera back a little further.
We just seen Aubrey pra.
(54:26):
Just standing there like.
Yeah, even then it is like.
It is Three Men and a baby moment.
Because why are y' all puttingthis infant on this corpse?
Like, I was like, I get it.
It literally preludes the carseat scene because another woman
would have been like, how about.
No, Any other woman in NewYork would have been like, how about
(54:50):
we don't.
Even though it was a lifesaving tactic, no one was there to.
It was.
All three of them going.
Seemed like a good idea.
They were all.
They were all in subterranean.
Cuz thanks to my old man.
He, you know, thanks to Susanin moment he's just like, we need
to get everybody out of here.
Can we shift him down there toyou for a little bit?
Like I knew what he was gonna do.
(55:10):
And then imagine being aninfant and getting called a liar
before you're born.
That's just crazy.
He's not even up.
He's not even here.
He hides from you like he'sstill in there.
What do you mean he hides histrue nature.
So before we go to break, what's.
What's everybody's rating forFantastic Four?
First steps, Lady Mandalore.
(55:30):
Same as Superman.
Eight.
Okay.
Mayhem.
Yeah, Solid eight.
That was.
That was.
Yeah, it's far.
I go eight and a half justbecause it's a lot of sciency stuff.
And I get it.
Every.
A lot of people aren't goingto take to that too well.
They're very much playing intothe whole era of what the Fantastic
(55:53):
Four is.
And I get A lot of peoplewon't get that.
So yeah, it was good for whatit was.
And I.
But I get it.
A lot of people aren't gonna.
What?
What did I miss?
What did he do now?
It's the comment section.
I've learned to look down.
I look down.
I will not have myself.
People are playing into the whole.
(56:15):
That was a bad place to pause.
Playing into every aspect ofthe Fantastic Four.
Not just cry.
Pretty like so.
And I get it.
People aren't gonna.
Are gonna take to the wholesciency bits and just get to the
fights.
But that's not what they're about.
But I'll.
I'll give them that score for that.
Okay, Navy, 9.5.
(56:38):
Okay.
I say eight and a half myself.
I. I liked it.
A lot of action, a lot ofsciency stuff, because I read a lot
of Fantastic Four anyway.
You.
You learn to get past certainthings because it's not like you
would understand it anyway.
But just wait till Valeriashows up.
(56:58):
The end credit scene couldhave done more like.
I was expecting a face reveal.
A turn.
Oh, no.
Or either.
Or at least.
At least either very seriousor very casual.
Oh, it's just Victor.
They.
They are dragging crumbs.
They are dragged.
They're going to drag you.
It just feels like it was perfect.
(57:19):
In the way they did it was.
Perfect in the way you thinkso because I was like, why give us
that?
Like, we know.
You don't need to know everything.
You need the hints to make it.
They also.
They were not paying RobertDowney Jr. To turn to the camera.
That was Tony from Crafts.
That was.
(57:39):
That was.
That was Tony Stank in.
In the.
That was.
That was one of the extras onstage from Hall H. When they revealed
him last year.
I. I think.
I think that was Agatha.
I'm just gonna sit back andjust let that.
I mean.
I mean, they were holding themask, so who knows?
(58:01):
I thought Franklin was, like, fixing his face or something, but
I think.
I think Franklin was brushingaway a tear.
We don't know.
Little child.
I'm curious if that is acurrent Fantastic Four ship we saw
in Thunderbolts or if that is a.
From then.
Because it's the.
(58:22):
The ship is already more developed.
But I'm like, are there.
Is there timeline.
Current with ours?
Or is there 1980?
R20 or 1960s?
Are 2020.
It's.
It's.
It's like.
Because what I picked up on isbasically how they talked about,
like, hey, we did that one thing.
(58:42):
And I, like, Reed basicallywouldn't admit I do not want to go
back into space.
I did this to us.
This is all my fault.
And he kind of held on to that.
So they, like, now that theyhave a second ship that's actually
prepped, I'm like, clearlysomeone stole it.
And either either y' all ranaway or someone took your kid and
ran.
But I'm curious because westill need a way to age up all these
(59:03):
children.
They did it with Billy and Tommy.
I'm curious.
Oh, I'm sure by the time theyget to.
I mean, you see how they aged up.
Franklin, they.
They really didn't waste a lotof time.
I'm curious if, like, it'sbeen years since the ending of this
movie that that ship pops upin thunderbolts and we see teenage
Franklin and then.
Or something happens and thensue probably has to be the one to
(59:24):
stop everybody from killingeach other.
No, it's.
It's definitely a.
Like at least five years.
It's been at least five years.
Yeah.
Yeah.
On.
On their earth on there.
But it's definitely.
But it's.
Is it.
It's parallel with ours?
Yeah, because.
Because it's not.
It's not 616.
It's 828.
So it's.
It's.
But it is parallel to 616.
Yeah.
Because right now theirculture shock is going to be.
(59:46):
Yeah, because we got the Billy.
We got Billy and Tommy tomagically be teens.
I'm curious to what the ageup's gonna be for young t' Challa
and baby Franklin.
But we are gonna come.
We're gonna go to break.
We'll be right back.
We're going to be talkingabout the quietly but fantastically.
(01:00:07):
And I'm not using that wordcorrectly, but that's okay.
Eyes of Wakanda 4 episodeseries written by Mark Bernardin
of no no no Less.
And we're gonna talk about why.
Why this was such a quietrelease, but why was it such a damn
hit?
We'll be right back.
(01:00:30):
Hi there.

Go to Attack on Attack on War.
The number one blurred mysterybox Company SA all right, we are
(01:03:05):
back and we are talking aboutEyes of Wakanda, which is currently
on Disney plus for fourepisodes, which I think is still
four episodes too short.
But the animation is great, the writing is fantastic, and there's
a nice little homage to ourvery own Chadwick Boseman attached
(01:03:25):
to this.
But for those who don't know,Isaac, Wakando is not about Wakanda
itself.
It's more about the War Dogsthat were sent out in different,
different period time periodsto recovers the stolen artifacts
of Vibranium.
And they really went.
They went in.
So we're not going to break itdown episode by episode.
(01:03:48):
I don't have those details infront of me, but I want to know the
thoughts, your thoughtprocesses for the War Dogs throughout
history.
Mayhem.
We'll start with you.
One.
I.
The show, overall, I feel likethey got away from the.
The animation style from what if?
(01:04:11):
Because even though I likedwhat if that it just never quite
set in with me that I like this.
I know that I like this.
This looks much cleaner, sharper, just overall better to my
eyeballs.
And I love that the.
The whole theme of everythingwas, was the danger of Wakanda and
(01:04:34):
their isolationist.
Nests.
How that, how that impacts the.
Their people once they leaveWakanda, how that impacts the rest
of the world by them.
You know, I guess hoardingmight not be quite the right word,
but for lack of better word, hoarding their technology and, and
their knowledge.
(01:04:56):
I thought it was, like yousaid, too short.
Hollywood.
4.
Four episodes is not a season.
They don't need to be hour long.
They can all be 30 minutes.
But if it's not 10, it's not a season.
You gotta call it an EP or something.
I don't know.
Yeah, no, he's right for it.
4 is way too short.
(01:05:16):
I mean, they're giving usthese, these standalone story.
Well, in this case, theydidn't really stand alone, but they
stood alone and there was.
I don't force.
Just not enough.
I wanted more.
You know, I like what they didwith it, but I'm like, I need more
now because you're telling aside that isn't really talked about.
(01:05:38):
You're telling a side of whatkind of.
That really isn't talked aboutand what is.
What is really shown is theWar Dogs side of everything.
All of their stories tend tobe the same, even from the Film to.
From the films to theanimation, there's this.
We are sent out to make surenothing happens to our land, to our
(01:06:01):
country, to our technology, only for them to realize there's
more to the world.
You know, I get why they'renot open there, whether borders are
open now, but.
And see how that turned out.
But I get why they didn't wantto open the borders.
(01:06:24):
Because you're inviting someof the wrong elements, maybe.
Wow.
I swear, I'm looking at.
I'm looking at show calls.
It was like, keeping astraight face.
Is never easy around here.
(01:06:46):
It's not supposed to be.
It was show quotes.
I'm sorry.
I actually read that out loud.
I. I enjoyed it for the mostpart, but I'm with.
You know, I'm with mayhem.
I feel like the animationstyle was.
(01:07:07):
I don't know.
I think the style is whatbrings you in, and it didn't really
grab me.
I think there were a fewthings during those four episodes
that I really appreciate, especially seeing the.
The.
The Iron Fist.
Yeah.
Reference, which reallyexcited me.
I was like, okay, I. Iappreciated that, but I'm genuinely
(01:07:28):
going to.
I actually want to look at itall over again and.
And see what I didn't mean,what I pick up, what I missed.
That's far.
Well, first of all, you're welcome.
Sacred timeline saved.
Even though I very much won.
Whoever.
(01:07:49):
Because I know they're notgonna make.
I know they're not gonna make it.
So I need one of y' all toborrow the concept of the Wakandan
caps and do rags from the IronFist episode.
That's the first thing.
Oh, my gosh.
Here we go.
What?
Tell me.
Hey.
Everybody was like, war dogsis one thing, but everybody's chilling
out and relaxing like it's theYMCA off mission.
(01:08:10):
But I. I like the concept.
Even when Killmonger was like,oh, our war dogs are finishing, I
was kind of like, oh, we gottwo people in every country.
And I'm like, oh, this is whathe means.
Because, I mean, we're in the day.
In Troy with Wakanda Neopor.
And that is, like, closing wounds.
Instant.
(01:08:30):
Little kicker thing was.
Oh, his communicator.
Yeah, his little Morse code device.
And then he had a sidekick.
He had.
He had Wakandan sidekicks and Neosport.
Neo to go, like, sidekick.
I can dig it.
I can dig it.
And then T Mobile has not.
(01:08:51):
T Mobile has an advertisingopportunity right there.
No, it was the Nokia Wakanda.
That's what it is.
It went through multiple wars.
It didn't break.
So, I mean, yeah, Nokia'snever did break.
How did you hide the entirewhole arm sleeve for a decade, though?
How did nobody ever catch youusing that?
But the whole Troy episode wasvery dope.
(01:09:12):
I wish everybody would stopcalling that, man.
LeBron James is looking like.
I get the.
That's what everybody kept thedude, the one who had to kill.
Achilles.
Yeah.
I love the fact that it wastied to Achilles.
It was always the ankles.
(01:09:33):
I was just like, there's noway he's gonna kill him.
The second he went full white, man, it was like, this is coming
back to Greece.
I'm like, yep, you gotta go.
So, like, he's like.
He saw, like, we already arefighting wars and want to go home.
The second he's like, I'mtaking this.
I'm like, you don't know whatit is.
I'm like, yeah, he's notmaking it out of here.
See, but.
And that was.
(01:09:54):
And Mayhem made a goodsuggestion, and I actually seen that
suggestion somewhere else.
And Mark Bernardin, who wrotethe episode, actually spoke on it.
That episode.
Would you really go back andlook at.
Came off more like.
It came there.
It came off differently.
He said, no, it's more like alove story.
Like, Achilles, like.
(01:10:14):
Like, came off more like alove story.
Like, why are you protectingthis outsider?
We don't know who he is.
And he's looking over hisshoulder and he's in.
Achilles is protecting him, like.
And he's giving him a looklike, I got it.
Don't worry, you know?
And then he's out of line.
But he's right.
Yeah.
You know, and he's like, I'll.
I'll always.
You're my brother.
And this, that, and the other.
(01:10:35):
And even when they came toblows and he had to kill Achilles,
he.
Was still holding back.
Yeah.
He was just like, I don't wantto do this, but now I'm torn between
my country and taking you outbecause I have a job to do.
I want to go home.
I want to go home.
And then I have been eatinguncooked and unseasoned stuff by
(01:10:59):
the campfire on these smelly ass.
Wait a minute.
Hold on, hold on now.
The Greeks.
The Greeks, they.
They got something.
Hold on.
They got seasons.
The Greeks on the ships, though.
The Greeks.
Yes, yes.
People that are literally astone throws away from Africa.
I promise you, we.
They.
We exchange some.
(01:11:20):
They know.
I figured they were.
I figured they weren't gettinghome cooking, traveling all the time
to pillage other places that's my.
I'm not saying they can't cook.
I'm saying in his scenario, heprobably was not exposed to the best
of cuisine.
I say otherwise because I've seen.
I've seen what they.
I think I've seen thedecisions Greek make.
So it's like, that's differentfrom cooking.
(01:11:43):
Your decisions also includeyour culinary.
I hold everybody accountable.
I think the show was good.
I like the Iron Fist episodebecause even in the beginning, I
was like, why didn't you justtake the.
The tongue out of the.
Which ends up being the wholeanswer to the thing.
I very much shout out, GaryAnthony Williams, be Uncle Ruckus
is now Wakandan.
And somebody else was in that episode.
(01:12:05):
His name.
I'm blanking on, but seeing.
Seeing a dope.
Our first.
Our oldest Iron Fistoriginally, technically wish we would
have got a little bit more of the.
The Dragon fight, buthopefully in the future.
She got hands.
I'll tell you that much, man.
Also, I need Marvel Rivals or Helldivers.
One of y' all gotta give me that.
That futuristic Wakandan queenoutfit because they went full Helldivers.
(01:12:28):
I will say this.
When I seen the outfit firstshow up, and I'm like, okay, number
one, I know that's a queen,but it's not the queens that I know
of because there's a.
Like, in the past, there'slike three different Black Panther
queens over time.
I'm like, but that's not noneof the queens I know.
I don't know who that is.
And I was like, it's not Sherry.
(01:12:48):
I'm like, so who is it?
Unless.
Unless it's, you know, Ithought was crazy.
This is just a shot in the dark.
What if the.
What if the person pretty muchdescribing their own birth in the
future.
The reason why.
The reason why.
I know.
The reason why.
I know she's having a girl.
I'm just saying it could betalking to your long lost relative.
(01:13:12):
That's all I'm saying.
And then I think she's from adifferent tribe than t' Challa's
family.
So I think we are the.
The mantle and the ownershipof the country has switched a few
times since.
It has over.
Over time.
It has.
Yeah.
Because.
Because.
Because that character andit's just T's bloodline held it the
longest.
If they had another episode, Iwould have liked to see Changing
(01:13:36):
of Hands at challenge day and.
And seeing which familiesruled during which eras and how the
War Dogs kind of responded.
But I kind of like the fakeout in the first episode showing,
okay, here's what one Wakandanthat goes rogue can do.
But also, the hammer is thefirst thing they lose.
And I'm like, that's the samething they find.
It's like, nope, not that one.
This fourth episode isactually the hammer, which then Killmonger
(01:13:59):
goes to fine and setseverything into place, because if
we don't play nice, then theEarth is basically doomed, but save
y' all asses all the time.
So it wasn't that crazystorytelling, that everything was
tied to the nexus point of Killmonger.
It had to happen.
Yeah.
That first episode, which wasthe, the rogue Wakanda and Noni,
(01:14:22):
who was one of the Dora Milaje.
Now, this is why I like the animation.
Because if you see a lot of.
Of our brothers and sistersfrom the Homeland, they have a certain
look.
And, and that was the, thatwas the look.
I was like, that's why.
Okay, I can rock with it now.
It put me at ease.
I was like, I wonder why.
This was an interesting choiceof animation.
(01:14:43):
Now, again, you know.
So Lady Mandalore, I want toknow, what did you think?
Four episodes.
Which was your favorite?
Number three was my favorite.
The Iron Fist episode.
Okay.
(01:15:03):
Yeah, no, that was, that wasHot Fire.
Yeah.
Overall, I, I was.
I'm okay with it being four episodes.
I'm tight.
It had to be the Black Show.
That had to be four episodes.
Episodes.
Yeah.
But I'm okay with it beingfour episodes because they told a
tight story.
There's no room for.
(01:15:24):
Thanks to Mark Bernardin.
In part to Mark.
He only did episodes two and three.
Two and three.
And they were tight.
Were the best episodes.
Yeah, they were tight.
But I, I, I liked the factthat you didn't have to do all this
grand overture in order toconnect back to Killmonger.
(01:15:47):
I like that they had the, theyhad four pieces that they needed
to get back, and those werethe four stories.
Because if you lose 20 piecesof Wakandan, you know, material,
you could be.
Like, what the hell y' all doing?
That is a major problem onyour hands.
That's not just the lapse insecurity.
That's an inside job.
Because that's what you'd belike, what are y' all doing?
(01:16:08):
Why does, how does this keepgetting away?
Like, who's doing it?
No, who's watching the vaultto where all this?
Right.
It just makes sense.
Well, that, and that's whereyou get the.
Or you have the claw goingback in time and doing everything
or getting everything.
But I, I really Liked.
God damn.
I wanted.
I wanted a whole real seasonof this.
(01:16:30):
However, this was so good.
This was a 10 out of 10 for me.
I'm fine with it being fourand them giving us something else.
Another point of eitheranother point of view or another
ass.
I guess that's aspect is thesame thing of Wakanda.
I would go for it if.
If that's the route day, ifthat's the recipe they use, I would.
(01:16:53):
I would gladly go for that.
Like you can.
The door's not closed on thehistory of Wakanda.
This is just one aspect oftheir entire history.
Like fast.
We can go back to prehistoric times.
We didn't.
We have not touched any of that.
(01:17:13):
We have history, ladies and gentlemen.
Yeah.
So Navy or no Spartan, whatdid you think of Ice Wakanda?
What was your favorite episode?
Loved it.
Too short.
Should have actually beeneight episodes.
Still.
My favorite is the Iron Fist episode.
Only because it.
(01:17:34):
Only because of the charactersinvolved and the fact of, again,
like Tafara said, they didn'treally go into it.
I think that was the firstIron Fist.
My.
My money is because the firstIron Fist was a woman.
So that's why I'm like, that'sthe first introduction of Iron Fist
there.
At the same time it did kind of.
If anybody was payingattention, it connected the other
(01:17:56):
two episodes.
You saw the mass from thefirst one, you saw the.
You saw the jewel also in thatsame room.
And then of course going inepisode four explains that every
one of these things tie to acertain point in history.
So yeah, three was myfavorite, but overall, completely
loved it.
Should have been longer.
I think that four episodes isa travesty.
But you know, we also didn'tget advertising either.
(01:18:19):
So we'll talk about that in asecond Navy.
I will piggyback off of Lady Mandalore.
It's.
The four episodes was perfect.
I like the way it presented itself.
I like the animation style.
It.
It'll grow on you.
But I genuinely enjoyed it.
It was the right length totell the tale, but still leave a
(01:18:43):
door open for other iterationsfor other interconnecting stories
that have yet to be connectedto that particular Nexus.
And I'm beyond excited to seewhere it goes.
And episode three was myfavorite too.
I'm not gonna lie.
Because I'm.
I'm an old school Iron Fist fan.
Heroes for hire.
When you see.
You see him and Luke Cage, anytime I see the proper representation
(01:19:06):
of that character, I'm happy.
Definitely give this a 10 outof 10.
I. I'm with you.
I'm, I'm saying this is a 10out of 10, but it might.
As a matter of fact, ProximityMedia is also behind this, this great
show.
Shout out to the Cooglersbehind this whole thing.
(01:19:29):
That's a cool.
That's a cougar quadruple atthis point.
This man is on fire this year, and I love it.
The consistency for me, ladiesand gentlemen, that's sort of, that's
what gets me every time.
Be consistent.
He got the right team.
You got Afrofuturism.
(01:19:49):
He's got.
Yeah.
Afrofuturism covered.
He's got Black Horde Noircovered and then.
Or black Southern Gothic andthen real horrors with the Katrina
documentary.
And let's not forget the techstuff, because Ironheart.
Yep.
So the easiest.
He's.
He, he's got a broad brush.
The man ain't done.
(01:20:10):
So, yeah, great show.
10 out of 10.
I, I, I'm with Lady Mandalorewith the.
I get why they.
It, it makes more sense withthe four episodes, although I would
like a little more.
But it makes sense when youaddress it.
Say, this is four episodes.
This is about the War Dogs.
We'll probably do another fourepisodes in a year, and it's about
(01:20:32):
something else.
And then, you know, thelineage of how this started or whatever.
What if we got the Blue Angels?
Midnight Angels.
You still got.
Yeah, you still got theMidnight Angels.
You got the Priest.
You got the prehistoric BlackPanther, who, Who, by the way, controlled
(01:20:53):
Thor's hammer before Odin did.
So.
Yep.
I think a Koi was in talks toget a series at one point, but then
they got X.
Then they scrapped it.
It wasn't.
It was supposed to be aMidnight Angels.
It was supposed to be aMidnight angel series, but they scrapped
it.
Okay.
The Coogler have it.
You'll know what to do.
So real quick, ratings for.
(01:21:15):
Well, we've already got three.
10 out of tens and mayhem.
What do you get again?
Name is something else.
It's not a season.
Is this is a season specialpresentation or something.
Rebrand it and I'll give it a.
10 out of 10 until then.
9.999.
Oh, really?
(01:21:35):
You deduct a point because ofelse presented.
They keep moving the goal post.
I'm like the Russ.
It really was.
It was like, hey, they hit uswith us like surprise.
And then, by the way, get thisout the way.
I know Spider man is filmingtoday, right?
Like, we ain't film.
We ain't filming like a licking.
(01:21:56):
We just put the suit on.
We want y' all to know.
Here's nine seconds.
Don't get to it.
Here's nine seconds of ateaser of the new Spider Man.
And that alone was like, I. Iagree with Tony.
It's like, just watch Eyes of Condo.
You Spider Man's gonna be there.
Yeah.
Safari.
Yeah.
I'll give it a nine.
Just because, like, I wish ithad been longer.
(01:22:16):
And I wish we had gotten tothe third episode was cool.
I wish we'd gotten a littlebit more of the internals of Wakanda
and how much the war dogs canplay into it.
And seeing that there's awhole change of the guard fourth
episode, definitely myfavorite because how chaotic it got
towards the end.
(01:22:36):
Also, I do like the wholehistorical accuracy with Ethiopia
and that war that took placeand placing Wakanda in real.
Shut up.
Placing Wakanda in, like, placing Wakanda in, like, real world
aspects and just like, hey,we've been everywhere.
We just here to get our.
Collect our stuff and.
And y' all got the rest.
But seeing a little bit of thefuture that could have been.
(01:22:59):
Or I don't know much about theSwarm or the Horde or whatever it
was called, but yeah, see, thewhole Space Marines moment I kind
of liked.
If you really want to knowmore about the.
The lore of Wakanda or atleast the Protectors of Wakanda,
go get Protectors of Wakandaby K. It's a great read.
(01:23:21):
It's a great read and it tells you.
And it's.
It's.
It's.
It's accurate.
Same.
Same thing I said with theending of.
What if they needed, like, onemore episode to give them.
I feel like there was so muchthat they had, and they definitely.
A lot of stuff got thrown onthe floor.
Yeah.
So.
So here's the thing that we'vebeen noticing lately.
(01:23:47):
Fantastic Four, fantasticfirst Steps has underperformed according
to studios standards.
Right.
Eyes of Wakanda, Ironheart, hardly any push or publicity.
Eisenhower kind of had no pushuntil like the week of.
(01:24:09):
I believe Ironheart was likemaybe two weeks prior or something
to that.
To that effect.
And I'm being generous, butwhy do you think, one.
That some of the Marvelprojects underperformed?
And.
And I know what Lady Mandaloreis going to say, because I agree
with her.
But the one.
The projects we've seen thisyear aren't.
(01:24:31):
Aren't they.
They haven't been.
It's just.
It's not.
In my opinion, it's notsuperhero fatigue.
It's.
It's.
That's far from that's farfrom the parkours.
We've been getting superheromovies long before this.
It's not fatigue, like in that sense.
I think ever since.
(01:24:54):
I want to say ever since what's.
What came out first.
Captain America or Falcon andWinter Soldier, which was not a bad
show.
I think Secret Invasion wasafter that.
Yeah, I think since Secret Invasion.
And then there's this.
There's this Love and Thunder.
Love and Thunder is another one.
(01:25:16):
There's this.
Everybody's.
I keep seeing people want tomeasure it up to end game.
And I'm like, do you notunderstand how storytelling works?
It.
You get to this peak and thenyou start over.
You.
You have to start over.
Not.
Not every project is going tobe praised.
I get it.
Like Thor, the Dark World wasnot the strongest of the Thor films.
(01:25:37):
And now Love and Thunder isthe weakest of those four.
Thor, the Dark World shouldhave been an example of.
You should have done more gun.
More gun.
Writing on lesser knownvillains and bringing them to the
forefront.
Because the Dark Elves.
Unless you are a fan of Thorand you've read unworthy Thor and
(01:26:00):
you've read when he was the King.
When he was literally the Kingof Valhalla, unless you've read those,
you're not gonna know the Dark Elves.
Yeah, I agree.
Battle.
He said they wrote themselvesin corn.
And I believe Kevin Feige haseven said this.
James Gunn has said several things.
He's like, yeah, there'scertain things, there's certain projects
that they have that theydidn't have finished scripts.
(01:26:22):
But there were warning signs.
They were warning signs before.
Before, there were warningsigns for Age of Ultron.
I'll even go so far as beforethat there were literally.
There were warning signs.
And you.
It's like, it's like, don't goto the cabin.
The killer is waiting for you.
As you're literally on theinterstate heading to the cabin,
(01:26:43):
every sign is saying, don't goto the cabin.
And you still go to the cabinand are surprised when the killer
is right there to kill you.
You ignored every warning onthe way up and you hope that your
brand would carry you.
Unfortunately, it did not.
And I think the other issue is.
(01:27:03):
I think the other issue is youstopped having people in the same
room and reading the comicsbecause you cannot do A, B and C.
You can't get to A through Dwithout B and C. You, you just.
You.
James Gunn has said it onrecord where he said when he was
(01:27:23):
writing Guardians of theGalaxy, he didn't want the Guardians
appearing in Other projects.
And it wasn't that.
It was like, you're gonna messup a lot of stuff because.
Okay, yeah, it worked whenthey had Thor and they show up in
Love and Thunder, but they'reonly in there with, like, five minutes.
Yep.
You know, and so it makessense because he was with them when
(01:27:44):
we last seen them.
That's fine.
But to have them in everyiteration of a Marvel project would
not have worked because you're doing.
You're done.
It's too much.
You're dumping too much.
He's like, I have a story I'mtrying to tell.
I have a beginning, middle, and end, and I need to tell it.
You know, yes, we can use themover here.
Yes, you can use them overhere, but I don't need them popping
(01:28:04):
up every.
And then you're caught, andthen your continuity went out the
window.
Yeah, man.
What do you think?
Why do you think some of theseprojects underperform Love and.
Well, we know why Love Thunder performed.
But Fantastic FourThunderbolts, which, once again,
both films, great films.
(01:28:26):
But.
Before I get to, like, whythey underperformed, I just wanted
to touch on, like, the.
The marketing and.
And I'm guessing, like, thisis their last year before they.
They're supposed to scale back.
Right?
So, like, yeah, we've gottenhow many shows and movies this year?
And it felt like there's.
(01:28:46):
There's a weird anxious energyaround certain projects of, like,
forcing it into promotion.
And then other projects, they're like, well, no one's actually
going to come out and.
And really invest in this, sowe're not going to spend our time.
Those being I heart Ironheartand Aizawakanda, they're just like,
(01:29:08):
the week of will be like, yay.
Remember this Ryan Coogler guy?
He.
He did this.
He's attached.
Kinda.
Yep.
Him.
And why.
And why that does bring in the viewers.
That shouldn't be why thatbrings in the viewers.
Right.
But, like, this is.
I say the.
The weird marketing energystarted, as I can recall, with Thunderbolts,
(01:29:31):
because when that asteriskfirst popped up, everyone was just
like, oh, that's weird.
I'm sure that'll be explainedat some point.
And then you go see the movieand you understand it's explained
in the movie.
And I feel like word of mouthcould have gotten like, hey, not
only is this a good movie andinteresting, like, you'll find out
what that's about.
(01:29:51):
Monday morning.
They blew the plot like, likethey couldn't wait to.
To open the Avengers to tryand Drive people to the theater.
And I think it had a reverse reaction.
And the same with FantasticFour almost they over saturated.
I feel like Fantastic Four wason Tuesday.
(01:30:12):
They had a great, they had a.
Great promotion run boxes andpopcorn buckets and everything.
And like everyone that's stillhyper invested went week one and
then, I don't know, we'vegotten into this weird thing where
like everyone casuals startwatching box Office and like that
(01:30:32):
week two box office returndidn't hit the way they expected.
Like, oh, it must not be that good.
I think I'm gonna wait tillDisney plus because that's going
to be in like 45 days it seemslike anyway.
And what, and what did I sayabout people in short attention spans
earlier?
Go see the show, go watch thefilm, go.
It's, it's.
(01:30:53):
But when we talk about showslike the marketing, like shows like
with Ironheart, which is agreat, well written show.
Was it six episodes or.
Yeah, six.
Six episodes.
And it tells this story inthis narrative.
And, and the first thingpeople were jumping on about.
And back to Lady Mandalore'spoint, you can't find it.
(01:31:17):
You can find it believable tohave Tony Stark building his stuff
in the cave, but you find ithard to find this young black girl
who can reverse engineer itand build her own version.
That part.
And that's a problem for you,for white people, mind you, this
is the same show Blurs.
Have you that told y', all, gowatch the Marvels, you won't be disappointed.
(01:31:37):
And here.
And what, what happened?
People actually watched theMarvels when they hit Disney plus
and they all said the same thing.
Oh, it's not as bad as wethought it was.
When they got past, as we toldy', all, when they got past the whole
women can't.
Women can't sell.
And you did an awful lotfemale cast.
Once y' all finally drop thered pill stuff and actually watch
the movie.
(01:31:58):
It'S a good, it's good.
Is it a 10?
No, no.
But it's still worth watchingand it's definitely worth watching.
Y definitely tried to.
They tried to set ne the Costabefore the movie even came out.
Like, oh, she moved on toother projects.
It's like you're not supposedto be there for that much of the
post game.
She left after the job.
Y' all also gave her like a TVshow, a movie and like two post credit
(01:32:21):
scenes.
And then remember that oldepisode of Pokemon where Team Rocket
kidnapped Brock and gave himlike scraps and was like, make some
food out of this.
And he did it.
That was basically what theydid to her.
Yeah, yeah.
And then, and then.
And if you know how films andshows are shot, there's a window
that needs me.
Like, she's, she's doing a job.
(01:32:42):
She's been hired to do another job.
Stuff runs over.
She's like, I can't be therefor the red carpet.
I'm filming this.
Right.
So like, like the whole red pill.
I'm glad we're getting pastred pill stuff because I haven't
heard a lot of it.
But still there's.
That.
There's still an air of it,you know.
But my, my thing has alwaysbeen the numbers.
(01:33:04):
I'm like, you guys, this letsme know that people don't follow
economy.
No.
The economics.
I'm sorry, Economics.
They don't follow it becausethe numbers that you wanted to happen
so bad, there was this littlething called Covet and pretty much
halted everything.
So Covet put a stopper in everything.
Yeah.
(01:33:25):
Covid changed a lot of the way things.
A lot of things that we dothat were normal before actually.
And, and that's the thingabout it.
When Covet happened, what happened?
DC made a deal about havinghaving their movies streamed directly
to.
To their streaming serviceinstead of movies.
So what happened?
People stayed home, startedwatching movies at home.
(01:33:45):
Marvel had their little bitwhere they couldn't get things off
the ground.
Again.
Things went up because ofcertain idiots.
The numbers that, the numbersthat were there Post that was pre
covered are not going to comeback post Covet.
So when I read and it's like,oh, well, well, well, Thunderbolts
did bad.
No, Thunderbolts turned a profit.
(01:34:06):
Did it?
Yeah.
Yes, they did.
Thunderbirds.
Thunderbolt trying to profit.
Superman is trying to.
All these movies.
All these movies.
No, no.
My personal favorite not tocut you off was Sinners.
They try to say sinners didn'tturn a profit.
That's where it started.
That's where it started.
It started with the pocketwatching because what is it?
(01:34:27):
Second week drop off is nowthe new.
How many players on Steam.
Yeah.
And they, they've gone.
They've taken that.
Yeah.
That term was not a thingbefore Variety started talking and
they got chin checked.
And I used to respect Varietyuntil they said that they got real
weird with.
(01:34:47):
I'm like, yo, it's only hadone weekend.
What do you mean?
But that's what I'm saying.
Hollywood Reporter be on some awesome.
Yeah.
So I promise you, before theywrote that article, they A second
the word second week drop offwas not as commonplace as it has
been for like the last four orfive months.
Because now they.
That's every movie scale.
And I'm like, they look good.
(01:35:10):
Y' all weren't doing thisbefore April, but all of a sudden
Sitters came out.
Y' all was pocket watching too heavy.
And now that's.
That's the new metric we'regoing by.
It was, it was third.
It was, it was Fridaypremieres, then it became Thursday
pre showings.
Now it's second week drop off.
But that's, but that's the problem.
They all want to go by the,the box numbers, the box office numbers
(01:35:32):
of old.
You cannot do that.
You cannot gauge success byprevious numbers.
When we didn't have all thisstuff that happened beforehand.
Not only that, we don't havethe movie runs like we used to.
We have 45 days now.
We used to get a 90.
Yeah, yeah, you're gonna see amovie on day one.
You might miss the pre orderfor the Steelbook when the, when
(01:35:53):
it drops.
Like Thunderbolts drops laterthis month.
Yep.
If you just kept a movie likeThunderbolts or like Sinners or Superman,
any of them in for their 90day run, they would do.
They would do the numbers thatthey wanted so bad.
Honestly, I'm surprised they.
Which they still got.
They still got good numbers.
They all turn every last oneof these films.
(01:36:15):
I don't know about that.
I don't know about that.
I don't think there's thatmany people like trickling in to
make, to warrant that.
But I will say not now.
No, I will say this.
If you did, if.
I will say the numbers wouldhave only come back if you did not
have streaming as a backup.
If you literally sat.
If you literally sat there andsaid, the only place you can see
this.
Because now everybody's like,no, it's gonna come.
(01:36:37):
It's gonna come to Paramount,it's gonna come to hbo.
Max, it's gonna come Netflix.
It's going to come to Amazon,it's going to come to Apple tv.
We're just gonna wait.
And that's what a lot ofpeople are doing.
They're sitting there saying,I don't have to watch this right
now.
I just have to wait my time.
Yeah.
Thumbs up, right?
Yeah.
I was like, how fast?
How fast they blew the whistle.
(01:36:58):
I thought thunderbolts wasgonna slowly reach green but not
do it.
I didn't know they'd actuallycross their mark.
So I'm like, y', all, y', all, y'.
All could have just let Stitchburst through the thing and let that
ride for, like a month, andthat would have been fine.
Why did y', all, like, y' allhad that ready on Monday?
Like I just saw.
I haven't been.
The film ain't 48 hours oldyet, and we already ripping the stickers
(01:37:18):
off.
And, and that's, that's whythere was, There was a time when
Captain America Civil War dropped.
And when that movie dropped, that airplane scene was not talked
about for well over two weeks.
Right.
No one spoiled it.
No one said anything.
Which I appreciate it.
I said, I don't know whathappened to y'.
(01:37:39):
All.
Y'.
All.
Y' all got on there and ranyour mouth even.
Now, if people are wonderingwhy I don't do, like, movie reviews
for Tick Tock, I said, becauseeverybody's doing them.
Yep.
I don't.
I'm not part of that crew.
I like watching a movie andthen I'll get out and I'll talk about
it.
There's no shade in that.
But I'm like, I'm not doing itjust to get clout.
(01:38:00):
Yeah.
It's not a requirement.
Literally.
Literally doing it as they'releaving the theater.
You gotta be first or your last.
I get rich.
But still, I, I, I'd rather be it.
I'd rather be at the Pontarose Steakhouse.
I don't want to be told aboutwho wins the race at the time.
You leave that.
That to me cheapens it.
Like I said, I kind of wishthat it didn't happen, but let's
(01:38:23):
be honest.
In this day and age.
Clicks, click.
Short attention span.
And I agree.
I agree.
So goes that.
Movie tickets are.
They're disgustingly high.
I've been seeing a lot of.
Hey, I can't get on to AMCstubs right now because even with
my tickets at work, discountis like, it's crash.
Christy.
Christy D Says the same thing.
It's too expensive to bring awhole family.
(01:38:44):
You go to his family of fourwith a regular tickets price.
We need more dollar theaters.
Bring back the dollar theater.
Especially because when I had.
When we had ours, it did numbers.
AMCs expand.
Are they expand?
They're expanding it, I think.
Yeah.
(01:39:05):
Doing the Wednesday.
I'm sorry.
Go ahead.
I was.
I wonder if my AMC back homewas participating because the dollar
theater across the street justshut down.
So now they have no competition.
But that's.
That's what it made.
That's what I love going to amovie theater.
I definitely love going on anopening night.
(01:39:25):
For something that I have hadanticipation to watch because I like
being in the midst of that crowd.
Yeah.
And being excited.
Cap picking up Thor's Hammer.
Yes.
Okay.
You know.
You know, that's the onethat's a.
Once in a lifetime.
But also the midnightshowings, because some.
Some theaters.
I know.
Oh, my God.
Some.
Some theaters, they domidnight showings, and they actually
(01:39:46):
do fun things, like, you know, they'll add on extra stuff or free
stuff, free swag, what have you.
But the experience isn't whatit used to be anymore.
And I get what.
I get what you're saying, Chris.
The experience ain't what itused to be.
So, like.
Like most families.
Look, I know I got three kidsgoing to the movie theaters is not
fun.
Got to pull Black Missions.
(01:40:07):
You gotta pull Blackout.
Me and Obi have snuck out more times.
Go see a movie.
That boy.
That boy, I'll put his way,has seen more movies then he's seen
Sesame street videos at this point.
I mean, hey, some of thepromotion has been blackout missions,
because when they finally wantto let them go on tour, it's like,
(01:40:28):
all right, what are you gonna do?
Barbershop and anime conventions?
Y' all clearly don't know whatyou're doing.
So I'm gonna just go with mypeople out and tell them to watch
the stuff.
Yeah, she's got the tunnel andthe song ready.
Yeah.
But that goes to show you thatthe age of theater going is obviously
different.
Yeah.
We still have a.
(01:40:48):
A few drive in theaters, which I.
There's still a couple of themaround, which is good.
I remember.
Oh, those were fun.
And.
And then, like, the one that's.
I don't want to say nearest, because they've never, like, nearby
ever.
They're like 40 minutes out or something.
45 minutes out.
But even then, they.
(01:41:09):
There's enough good film rightnow out that they, you know, before
used to be like, oh, I'llwatch this.
But then the second screenover here has got something else
I want to watch now.
It's like, yo, it was a time Iwatched Terminator 2 Oscar, and it
was in, what was it?
Planet Eggs all at the samedamn time.
And the sad part is, in this economy.
(01:41:30):
Don't ask me how I did that.
That's probably adhd.
I don't know.
But drive throughs would makesuch a killing now, because think
about.
I know the one I used to.
To go to.
You could watch three moviesfor $10.
And they had been.
And.
And I know for ours, we hadvendor trucks so you had tacos, ribs,
steaks all lined up.
What movie drive in theater.
(01:41:50):
You go, what the hell?
Yeah, that was ours.
Tennessee.
We had to fry our own chickenand sneak it in.
You talking about real?
It was literally.
I loved it.
It was the water town drive in.
Unfortunately, it did closedown five years ago.
It's.
It's an apartment lot now, butwhen I tell you.
When I tell you.
That was $10.
(01:42:11):
$10.
Three movies you had.
You set your radio to whateverfrequency they were playing on.
Yep.
Screens were freaking crystal clear.
Food vendors were right there.
Prices, everything right there.
Get anything that you want.
Nobody caused any drama.
It was.
It was.
It was great.
And then, you know, we had to.
We had to lose it because, youknow, developers.
(01:42:32):
Yeah.
It'S been a good year for movies.
It's just the people who makethem act like they scared to tell
people if the cast is too dark.
Right.
Oh, my God.
Because Cap came out and itwas like, all right, we finally dropped
the.
So Thunderbolts is on the way out.
Y' all saw Bucky was in thefilm, right?
Still.
Which still Cap.
Brave New World still made aturn in his profit.
(01:42:55):
It came second.
It's the second best CaptainAmerica movie.
It felt like they didn't wantto claim Cap One like they were.
Everybody's so afraid of theDI label these days.
I just think Costco ain't.
You see how fast they puttogether Ironhearts red carpet premiere?
They knew exactly who to callwhen they needed it, which lets me
(01:43:17):
know.
Lets me further know y' allknow who to reach out to and when.
Yeah, like, I mean, but that's crazy.
These projects are fun.
If you don't.
If you're not familiar withthe characters, it's a good time
to jump, you know, jump onboard to find out.
Go to.
There's certain white.
We do write ups onblurview.org so there's places you
(01:43:39):
can go to to check them outand say, oh, that's who.
That kid Kira wasn't familiarwith some of the characters in Superman.
I mean, everybody outside.
I'm not gonna hold you outside.
Superman.
I know who that is.
Yeah.
(01:43:59):
I knew I knew Jimmy the way Iknew Jimmy.
Not Jimmy Olsen out here inthese streets.
Sweet Jimmy Brown.
But.
But if you see.
If you see her.
Her rundown about Superman, that is how you do a review.
That's how you do a rundownto, like, I was giving it this number,
(01:44:21):
but I decided to go back andwatch it again because I didn't know
who X Y and Z were right.
Once I found out about xyz, then I went back, checked it out
again.
Different experience.
Because for a casual comicbook fan, casual moviegoer, they
may not know who the thunder.
All the thunderbolts were.
People trapped.
People tried to trash Black Widow.
(01:44:42):
What trash Black Widow was.
This was the wrong time to release.
That was something you shouldhave released.
I mean, that could have beenreleased before.
That could have been recent.
Phase one.
Yeah.
And then two.
Covet.
Yep.
So it went straight to streaming.
And you can.
I can.
I just watched Black Widow twoweeks ago because it's a fun film.
(01:45:03):
And besides, I like Elena.
She's.
She's.
She won me over right away.
The Mac and cheese line stillgets me.
It's.
I made you Mac and cheese.
The other thing that they're not.
I don't know.
I would love to talk to thesepeople that are sitting down at these
board meetings and talking andthinking about financials.
Who.
(01:45:23):
Why aren't you using thesemovies to drive people to buy your
comic books?
Like, why?
Where is the.
The logic in there?
Because.
Because they're looking at toys.
Exactly.
Which is a dying breed.
They.
They don't know how to spreadthe wealth.
That's the problem.
But formulated by saying, ifyou want to learn more about these
(01:45:45):
characters and more at the endof the movie, here are issues.
Xyz da da da, run da da.
Go get them.
Here's a code for 5% off or some.
Or show your movie ticket andget XYZ amount of money off of it.
And now you're coming full circle.
But that would be common sense.
I mean, say what you wantabout Bo and X X Men, but he definitely
(01:46:07):
gave you accurate homeworkevery week.
And he basically, in one ofhis recent Twitter spills, he basically
said, like, yeah, this is thetype of stuff they wouldn't like.
You have like, Kevin, who gets it.
It's like, I understand that book.
I understand that reference.
And you have the other peoplein the room who are just like, yeah,
can you dumb that down?
I don't get any of it.
And I don't think the peoplewatching will either.
And then Bo's like, why do youthink they're here?
(01:46:28):
So he's like, and then I looklike the audience.
Yeah, he's like, and then Ilook like the.
In every meeting for saying, hey, let's do comic accurate things.
Let's call them by their names.
Not just the red one, blueone, and the green one.
Yeah.
Mal makes a great point.
He's making a Great point.
He said, let's be real.
The ashen will think a whitecap's ice is always colder, even
(01:46:49):
when the white cap passed themantle and chooses to be the black
cat.
And it's true.
Cap in comics.
Cap in the movie, pass theshield on.
And they still gave Samproblems in the movie and in the
comics.
And, and in, In a moon girland double dinosaur.
Yep.
It's like, it's like his first arc.
(01:47:10):
Post, his first Art Popeshield was pretty much Thunderbolt
all rejecting him.
Yeah.
It's like you got hate, thehatred that he had.
The Falcon, Winter Soldier.
That's basically the first 10 issues.
And, and now we're in the.
And now we're in the divorce arc.
Yeah.
So I, I, I think what's happening.
And, and there are some peoplewho are getting it before we wrap
(01:47:32):
up.
There are some people who aregetting it.
They're.
And they're pushing past the,the red pill wave and the toxic masculinity,
and they're pushing past itand literally going in and giving
a project a chance and saying,oh, wow, this actually was really
good.
I want to find out more.
There are some people whoactually will go, hey, you know,
there's comic book fans, actual fans, positive ones, who I
(01:47:55):
want to take my kid to go see this.
And then they're more interested.
And now let's take them.
I want to take them to a brickand mortar so they can see.
That's why I shout outCarolyn, John's.
Because when John had hisfirst child, he said, yes, it's a
comic book store for fans like us.
But what about that generationthat's coming up that we're raising?
(01:48:17):
So he created a whole, like, kids section, and you have a whole
bunch of kid version of WonderWoman, Batman, you know, all these
different heroes, and they'rewritten, they're actual written books
by authors that they're outthere, you know, that they can sit
down at the table and playwith their little, the little Legos
or whatever and pick a bookand read and, and their dad like,
(01:48:40):
hey, I'm coming in.
Pull.
Get my pool is.
Hey, you little Timmy.
You see something you like?
Yeah.
I want to get this, thisSuperman book.
So you just created a wholeanother fan now, and you get to pass
on what made you get intocomics and in that whole medium,
and it's there, but it's toomany people outside of us who think,
(01:49:04):
oh, I know what I'm talking about.
Do you, though?
Do you really?
Because she's saying Supermanis woke and it's like, do you even
know what you're saying right now?
But that's what I always hated.
And I still do see it in comicbook stores where you have, unfortunately,
gatekeepers, and you have tocheck them.
It's like, just because youdon't like Wonder Woman or you don't
(01:49:27):
like Nubia Story, or you likeWoman of Tomorrow, you shouldn't
sit there and say it sucks.
You should sit there and say,I just didn't correct some people
today.
Like, please don't say it sucks.
Just say it's not for you, butencourage someone.
Oh, better yet, don't sayanything at all.
You know, if you don't plan onseeing it, just why are you on the
post?
Don't.
How about that?
(01:49:48):
Just don't.
My thing has always been encouragement.
Like, I.
Again, I.
Kids.
Dear kids, to think that, oh,well, I've never heard of Trinity.
Okay, you never heard one ofthem had a daughter?
Here, read this.
Or, you know, again, I did notknow about.
I did not know about rockingan icon.
Let me give you this entirestack here.
(01:50:09):
You know?
You know, that's.
That's my thing is, like,because I know I. I work with kids,
so it's like, these kids see these.
These kids see these superheroes.
They're like, we don't knowwho they are.
Perfect time to sit there andgo to a library and be.
Or go to a comic book storeand say, here, sit down.
Read this.
See if you like it.
I'm like, I remember my sonwas coming up, and he was watching,
(01:50:30):
like, oh, reruns of Static Shock.
It's weird saying that.
No, but he had a friend, andhe was just like, yeah, I'm watching
Static Shock.
And I'm walking past the room, and I'm like, his name's Static.
And I just kept walking.
I do that so much.
I do it myself.
You want to correct them sobad, it's just like, say it properly.
(01:50:50):
And now we got a Static andBatman beyond story written by somebody
who grew up watching those shows.
And it's Ivy Draper.
I cannot wait to read that.
So we're getting ready to wrapthis up.
Oh, so you ain't gonna ask methe question?
All right, go ahead.
Go ahead.
I'm between the Spartan andthe Tafari, and I'm just getting.
(01:51:15):
Ma', am, stop.
I'm the commentary sandwich.
Wait, go ahead, Rev.
You have the sermon.
Go ahead.
No, I. I agree with.
With everybody.
I think the marketing has gotten.
Times are changing, andthey're trying to Adapt.
But they're doing it the wrong way.
They're doing it all the wrong way.
(01:51:35):
You've, you've, you're, you'retrying to appeal to an audience who
can barely remember their ownname, let alone what to wear for
the day.
And you're thinking this isyour money maker.
No, your money maker.
Coming from people whogenuinely show you that they care,
whether it's in a, in anargument or a conversation, they're
still willing to go to the theater.
I love going to the theater.
(01:51:55):
There's something impersonalabout sitting at home and watching
a movie that I can go to atheater with other people, laugh
together, gasp together, makea little comments.
But it's still, it's stillcommunity that's missing.
And these, these, thecompanies are trying so hard to put
something out, just so theysay they put it out, but they're
(01:52:16):
stumbling and falling andwondering what's going on.
Oh, it's quite simple.
You're appealing to the wrong audience.
You're trying too hard to getthese people who, like I said, they,
their attention spans are, arelike a can of soup.
It's not very long and it'snot a whole lot on there.
(01:52:36):
If I'm lying, I'm dying.
But.
Well, I was gonna hold it because.
But hey, there it is.
He said it's, it's too many here.
Damn level drops.
Yeah, so.
Well, Davy, you can sign it out.
Tell the people where they like.
Well, if you.
I'm just kidding.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys andgirls, BL of all ages, good evening,

about San Diego and if I canget the right people invited in,
we're gonna have a conversation.
Because I'm tired of peopletalking about this convention.
(01:53:18):
And yet you're not ready todeal with people, but you want to
about it.
Cool.
Let's, let's have this conversation.
Let's have this discourse.
I want to talk about it.

the same time.

panel.
