I had the honor of introducingmy sister's new business to you
(03:16):
all.
Shout out to Jacquelyn Thompsonfrom Living with Jacquelyn Go
visit her website at www.
livingwithjacquelyn.
com That's my sister.
Before we get into anything, canwe just pause and collectively
blank stare and blink at thefact it's almost 2024?
(03:38):
Like what as I get older, orseasoned henny?
The one thing I come to feelstronger and stronger about is
the value of time and thefullness with which we choose to
(03:58):
live and how we spend our time, who occupies our time, what we
spend our time doing and how wemake each moment lived, feel
meaningful Time.
Y'all Thinking about quality oflife and interactions.
This fulfillment and joy ispressing me y'all Again, though
(04:23):
in a good way.
Boy, it's something else whenyour own self-connection can
hold you accountable to your ownevolution.
Shout out to yourself, girlHesh, love that for me, for us,
girl Hesh, I think that, muchlike savoring the flavors you
taste in a bite while you'reenjoying a good meal, time too,
(04:45):
should be savored in that sameway Experiencing and
appreciating each moment withoutrush, multitasking, dread, an
annoyance, disdain or exhaustion.
This one here is for all theCEOs of their home, to all of
the boss bays on a mission tohave it.
(05:06):
All the shakers and movers whoare trying to carve out space in
the world for their vision.
The heavy lifters who areeverything to everybody, folks
who schedules have been hijackedby meetings that can be emails.
Those that thrive onauthenticity and genuine
connection.
The humans seeking to aligntheir work with their purpose
(05:30):
and passion.
And the creatives who are allabout building community.
Y'all trying to get into thiswith me Honey, you had me at the
meeting that could be emails.
Word.
Let's do it, then, in fulltransparency.
I have literally been taking itone day at a time.
(05:51):
Life has been upside my heady'all, not in a bad way, in a
demanding way, in a girl levelup way, in a hold on to your
crown and make tracks type ofway you feel me, and as much as
I hear the call and have startednurturing the vision, chow, it
(06:14):
is moving at the pace of a snail.
Cause, baby, the way that I amspent.
Let me tell you something.
My tank has been living on E.
Okay, shout out to theincredible people who I have in
my life.
Bad, honey, I can pull up tolike a Tesla and their energy
(06:37):
alone will recharge my battery.
That's a battery.
Leave me alone what this hasbrought me to think about is how
important it is for me tocontinue removing all of the
people, places and things thatdo not serve me, the things that
don't charge my battery, thatdon't fill me up.
(06:58):
Therefore, they should notoccupy my time.
Right, right, right.
Time is one of the mostprecious resources we have in
life.
It is a limited resource andonce it's gone, it can't be
regained.
My ability to honor myself isinclusive of my ability to honor
(07:20):
and protect my time, and sothere are three, maybe four,
things that I just wanna touchon that is important in doing
that right Mindfulness, beingmindful of how we spend our time
, prioritizing the things thatmatter most to us, spending time
(07:44):
with loved ones, pursuingmeaningful work that surrounds
passion and purpose, andengaging in hobbies and
activities that bring us joy.
By doing so, we can ensure thatour time is well spent and that
we are living our lives in a waythat aligns with our values and
priorities.
Being present we often getcaught up in the past or the
(08:08):
future and we forget toappreciate the present moment,
the here, the now where we're at, what we're doing, people's
faces, people's smiles, people'sreactions right.
Being fully present, we cansavor the experiences we are
having in the moment andcreating lasting memories that
we can cherish for years to come.
(08:30):
This is important for any partof your journey.
It enables us to betterappreciate growth, successes and
the wisdom gained as we'renavigating life right.
And intention, good oldintention.
When we show up for someone, whether it's through a phone
call which those of you who knowme know that your girl does not
(08:53):
like the phone, but I answerand take those calls and make
those calls when necessary I door whether it's a visit or
simply spending quality timewith them, we're showing them
that we value their presence inour lives.
By making time for others, wecan strengthen our relationships
(09:13):
and create deeper connectionswith those around us.
You know your girl here.
You know we love a good happyhour.
We love a good brunch.
I mean I like personal time.
I mean you know let's gather onthe couch.
I mean you know that's where Ilike to spend my time.
Right, a phone call if we must.
Those are the fluffy approachesto time and, as important as
(09:38):
those three areas are, we can'ttalk about honoring time without
talking about boundaries.
Bloop, whoop, whoop thatplacing boundaries on your time
is crucial for maintaining ahealthy work balance or shoot
life balance in general.
(09:59):
Professionally, the way today'sworld is set up.
It can be tipped into work, work, work, work, work.
Okay, rihanna, our work canintrude on our family time.
We pull it out just to get onemore thing done and think we're
teaching our children good workethic.
Or think our partner willunderstand because we're both
(10:20):
adults, they get it.
Or we don't think it mattersbecause it's just us here at
home me here at home.
Right, maybe you're the onlyone that live in your house when
we're really demonstrating lackof boundaries, though right Now
, entrepreneurs, don't come forme.
I know the rules are a bitdifferent for y'all.
(10:42):
I get that, I do.
I get it.
I mean, shoot you working foryou.
Ain't nobody doing it, but you.
Sometimes you got to go theextra mile.
All I'm saying is the goalshould be to not To not have to
work all kinds of hours, right?
Um, you know.
So it's something I think youshould consider how we allow our
(11:03):
work to impose itself.
Overworking yourself can quicklyand easily lead to burnout,
stress and all that extra timeyou overwork yourself.
Half of it.
You're probably just sittingand staring at the screen trying
to remember what you're tryingto do Feet and fingers, no
(11:24):
longer talking to each other, and then all that time that you
took was just unproductiveanyway.
Right?
Just me.
I myself am continuouslyworking to improve on the way I
enforce the limits on time Igive to work.
(11:45):
It's important to do this inorder to give yourself the space
to focus on other importantaspects of your life, such as
new professional endeavors, relationships, hobbies and self
care.
You know we love a good selfcare moment, friends.
Can we talk about the peoplepart of this equation now?
(12:08):
Now, I don't know about you,but I am just at a place in life
where, honey, when I say I havezero space hours, minutes or
seconds to give the folks whoare sucking the life out of
people, out of the room, versuspouring life into people, please
(12:28):
know that I mean it.
No, ma'am, no ham, no turkey.
I can't share space.
I can't give that time.
I just can't.
Y'all, I can't, and I don'tknow what to anyone.
You don't know what to anyone.
We do not owe it to anyone.
I've said it before not everyonedeserves access to you and your
(12:50):
time, and that's not astatement meant to belittle
anyone or to make it seem likeyou're better than anyone.
Really, what it is is apersonal act of self love,
recognizing for yourself what isand is not good, healthy and
nurturing, and anything that isnot good, healthy and nurturing
(13:15):
should not occupy your time.
Yeah, say it on repeat.
What I'm currently seeing myway through is not uncommon,
which is why I share.
I know that many of you are sospent at the end of the day that
planning for future goals andendeavors can sometimes seem
(13:37):
impossible.
In my case, I'm just moving ata snail's pace, but I also know
that it's my responsibility totake control and kick this into
the next gear in order toachieve the things that I see
for myself.
Yeah, so that's it.
Y'all Short and sweet.
How much is your time worth?
(13:58):
We're all different, but ifyou're anything like me, or
happen to be at a place in lifelike me where ease, convenience,
peace and joy are everything, then I see you.
I see you.
Yeah, I will drop a few extracoins on the things that can
(14:20):
free my time.
I only want to share space withthose who have the ability to
encourage, uplift and inspire, who bring beauty and
authenticity to the space, and Ilook forward to spending time
further developing professionalendeavors that are reflective of
my purpose and values.
(14:40):
Here's a quote by BenjaminFranklin that says lost time is
never found again.
No hitting meaning there right.
We can never get time back.
We can only utilize what wehave in the next second, the
next minute, hours, days, monthsand years ahead to honor our
time.
(15:00):
I think, if we have not beenshown the fragility and
importance of time, life, community and family any other
time, these last two months ofwatching the people of Palestine
fight for their freedom hasreminded us, has reminded me,
(15:21):
although, as a black woman, weare never allowed to forget how
we spend and share.
Time should not be lost oninsignificant things, rather on
the people and the things thatwe love and in the ways that
allow us to show love and be inservice to others.
So, while we're here, I wouldlike to say my heart is with the
(15:43):
Palestinian people.
Black people recognize thisbrutality and oppression, the
systems and the gaslighting.
We know this playbook all toowell, although we no longer
experience bombs hitting ourhomes and places of worship.
We understand what it feelslike to have our land stolen,
(16:03):
our homes and communities takenover, our neighborhoods
overpoliced and terrorized, andwe understand what it's like to
feel as though the whole worldis watching and nobody is doing
anything to help.
We know what it feels like tofear for your life and the life
of your family, because therewill always be a digestible
(16:24):
justification that fits intosomeone's stereotype box as to
why you were brutalized ormurdered.
Our hearts are with you.
As I sit here in podcast abouthonoring myself and my time, I
want to take this time to honoryou in your fight, our fight for
(16:45):
freedom, peace andself-determination.
If any listener is bothered bythis, you can exit the same way
you entered.
May we all spend our time inthe full breath of our humanity,
knowing that no one is freeuntil we're all free.
Free Palestine.
